Chit Chat #51
WELCOME to the Jaded Ladies!
This is a very warm and friendly group of ladies who talk about everything. Who also provide daily support in our everyday lives, as well as our walk towards a healthier lifestyle. We would love for you to join us! :cofdate: Marti |
Hiya ladies,
Sue - hope you're feeling better. Angie - I sure hope Carnie isn't really gaining the weight back... she has had a hard way to go. I like the fact that she stayed with the same guy who loved her when she was 300 pounds. RosieKate - thanks for the post card! I just got it today, and it made me smile. The lake looks beautiful and so serene. YAY for the 1 pound down!! Maybe you should rethink your birthday goal.... how about making 195 the new goal? It's a thought... Marti - check for the Chicken Cacciatore recipe in the recipe section, okay? It's a cinch to make. Cristi - Did you find anything at Penny's? I noticed yesterday that Kohl's had a good sale going on comforters... do you have a Kohl's? This is the first time I've had all day to get on the computer. The house is so clean, and the dinner with my friends was so fun! Neither of them had ever had Chicken Cacciatore, and really liked it. And I made the lemonade cake (3 WW pts.) for dessert. The table was decorated in new placemats of beige, soft green and yellow. I picked a fresh bouquet of yellow day lillies and daisies for the centerpiece, and it all looked pretty. I had big white round plates for the entree and smaller, square plates on top of them for our salads. I ate a little too much, but have flex points for that, thank goodness. Which, by the way, I'm down 1 3/4 more today. YAY! Tomorrow is my family reunion, but I'll check in when I can. Have a good Sunday, ladies. |
Evening ladies--
Shrek2 was funny. I loved the character Puss in Boots!! And the part with Pinocchio :nose: trying to rescue them.....Hilarious!!! :lol3:   They did a great job for the second movie. When we got to the theater.....there was a huge line for Harry Potter!! Already people were lined up for a showing and they had 4 rooms for it! When we went to buy our tickets...this woman was really pushy trying to beat us to the ticket booth....only to get tickets for the 7pm. showing! (irritating) You would think that the movie would still be around awhile and wait until the crowds die down.......(like Jhanai and me! :D ) Anyway...we had fun, shared a large popcorn.....don't like movie popcorn like I used to! (I'll try to remember that) Jana--Congrats on the 1 3/4 pound!! You are just doing a fabulous job. Maybe if I move in with you for a few months and hang out with you some of your motivation will rub off on me?! (I think it was Katiecat who sent the postcards from Tahoe.....) RosieKate--A pound is a pound remember? After a month or more it will all add up! And I agree with Jana...maybe change that birthday goal? I figure I would make a monthly goal each month (in my signature) and if I don't reach it, move it onto the next month. But hopefully I will come close to it. I really need to move my butt more!! Cristi--I had a phone call like that before....the caller was just breathing heavy on the other side and I just started giggling and they didn't say anything and I just kept giggling...then I started breathing heavy too and then hung up laughing. (never did have them call back) Angie--I didn't read about Carnie gaining back weight.....I hope she didn't. She lost so much and went through so much with surgery, plus the surgery for getting rid of loose skin! That would be hard. Is star a tabloid? If so,,,,,don't believe everything in it! Hello to all you other girls!! Jana, what do you serve your Chicken Cacciatore over? I've had it over rice, wonder how it is over pasta....I love pasta, but so full of starch! I am going to have to try that cake! I absolutely LOVE lemon anything!! Had some lemon cookies not too long ago and they were sooooo good. TOO good! Well I better get going. Jhanai is singing Beatles songs, maybe she needs me to be her singing partner! (she might stop if I join in!) Night Marti Jhanai says "Hi Ladys" :cheer: |
Thanks gals for the good wishes. I have had a few good days and have been able to take my walks. Now if it doesn't act up tomorrow when my grandson is graduating! I will be glad to get the ultrasound over with and find out.
I just saw Carnie on a morning show last Tues. and no way had she gained as much weight as they said. Maybe 15 pounds since she was so thin, but not more. Her sister is 6 months preggers. Good Sunday to all..and I will get back in the swing of writing and challenging soon. suetalks |
Goood Morning........
To all our losers CONGRATS~~ I am just poping in to say I am doing ok... Down 1 pound and a half, ='s 140.5........ok with that, though plan on thinking of going to a maintaining mode. Busy and in need of my morning coffee. Try and catch up tomorrow without the Gabster close by...... Think Pink??? Hope you had word on th house,Ang??? Becky loves pink....... BEAUTIFUL grandchildren , Jana- loved the pic.... Thanks for the mail Katie & ang- that was a nice surprise!! ttfn |
Hello ladies--
Just poppin in real quick to say hello. The weather is rainy this weekend!! No good. James should be coming home tonight, then his next three weeks are in Eugene!!! That means he'll be home everyday!! Better go entertain Jhanai. Marti |
Hello All!
Just got back from my walk and couldn't miss the raindrops, unfortunately. At least it isn't cold. I shooed the guys out of the house and sent them off to the library, and Leigh is sleeping, so here I am. Jana - you are thisclose to being half way to your goal. Hooray! That is a big milestone. When I was in TOPS, people would get a charm for making 1/2 way to goal. TOPS is big into handing out charms for accomplishments - kind of like Girls Scouts ;) Be very proud of yourself. As you've probably guessed by now, I'm not the Katy who went to Tahoe. Hey that's alright. If I went anywhere, I'd send you a postcard, but we are in the living-on-one-income, two-young-kids, can't-afford-to-do-nothin' stage of our marriage. Marti- raining here, too. Ugh. Not much to do but hang out and watch videos. It's great that James will be home for the next few weeks. Susan - congrats on the loss. Your weight loss is such an inspiration. Hope your job is going well - when do you hear about the promotion? Thanks all for the encouraging words about my birthday goal. I'm doing a good job of staying OP today, and I've stuck to my new 21day challenge so far, so I am going to focus on what is going well. After all, life is really very good right now. I have a birthday and an anniversary coming up and the school year's almost over, so we'll have lots of family time. I'm going to mess around with changing my sig, i think. RosieKate |
Hello oh Jaded Ones,
Katiecat - So Sorry I got the wrong name in thanking you for the postcard!!! I KNEW it was you, I just had a brain fart, lol. :D Marti - If you move in with me, you will for sure lose weight, cause there's hardly anything in the house to eat, besides healthy stuff, lol. Katie gripes about it all the time, lol. Btw, I serve the chicken over noodles, but you could use whatever you want. I balance out starch with proteins and haven't had any problem so far. That's one thing I really, really love about WW - no food group is limited as long as you stay within your point range. Sue - hi! Susan - glad you are okay. You are a true inspiration and success, having reached your goal weight. I am so very proud of you! RosieKate - it's nice to have quiet time in the house all by yourself, isn't it? I remember the days when my kids were younger, and I would send them off with Neal. A momma needs some "me" time once in awhile. I have to admit I am very happy about getting so close to the 50 pound mark. I'll be glad when I cross over that line. Today was our family reunion, and I was so good! I had baked turkey breast, seasoned rice, a lot of green beans, a slice of bread and about 1 tablespoon of my sister's slaw she said I HAD to taste. I started out with a piece of WW cake on my plate, too, , but Madi ate it before I could get to it, and I didn't miss it at all. There was every comfort food available -fried chicken, cheesy potatoes, sausage casserole, pies, cakes, cookies, etc... but I like to watch the scale move down more than I wanted the food. Plus, I knew I could come here and you guys would be proud of me, lol. Silly, but true - you guys are my cheerleaders! BBL, |
Good evening! I am so glad tomorrow is Monday. See, that's the thing about being on-call for the week. I look forward to Mondays when I can pass the pager on to the next person! It's not terrible, but it never fails, as soon as I get involved in something, it goes off.
It's supposed to be getting pretty warm this week, so I've decided, instead of going to the tanning booth before work, I'll be taking walks. It's almost unbearable in the 90 degree heat and humidity of the midwest at 5pm. And way too warm for my collie then. She'll be able to handle the mornings and I can handle 10 min of intense heat in the booth after work. I was pretty discouraged this morning, got on the scale, still up 2 lbs that I lost and then regained this week. Can't figure it out. Have been pretty good, especially since my birthday. I wanted to get rid of that water weight I gained from the soup. Ticks me off. But so far today, very good, and it's almost time for supper. I'm going to warm up leftover grilled honey teriyaki chicken breast, a salad, and some fresh fruit. That oughta tip the scale tomorrow. I spent some time in my closet this afternoon to inspire me. I need to get into those clothes, before summer's over. It's amazing the differnce 10 lbs can make. I'm afraid to report that I did not get my spare room cleaned out this week like I had wanted. But I think I have better plans. My bedroom is on the west side of a 2 story house, and gets very warm late in the day. I am going to clean the room the cats are currently using, and switch rooms around. Then I'll be on the east side, and get the morning sun, and they'll be on the west. But with the door open then, it won't matter as much. They are predicting rain for the end of the week, so I am going to save my "indoor" work for rainy days, and work out in the yard when I can. I'd like to run the weed trimmer, trim some bushes and trees back, and start mulching in some areas. I am also having some estimates done on gutter work. Looks like I've got another busy week. Should keep me out of the kitchen! Oh yeah, I need to wash my car too. Maybe I should start a list! Jen |
Hi again ladies--
James is home...(well at the moment he is at the grocery store) but he brought home our sleigh bed frame!! OMG...it's BEAUTIFUL! and it fills up the whole room!! Time to do some rearranging!! Jana--Just wanted to post again that I (like the others) are SO proud of you and what you are doing. You've had so much go on in your life and you're still able to stay OP and lose the weight you're wanting to lose!! I just may send you a reward for making it to the half way mark!! Such an inspiration!! To the rest of you, I'm not ignoring you, I have to get off here and make dinner....just HAD to let Jana know that we are so proud!! OH!! And Susan...can't forget you....140!!! Fantastic!! I can't wait until I'm reaching my goal or at least a half way point!! I will do individuals tomorrow. You all take care Marti |
Just a quick hello...
Drinking my coffee, getting ready for work. 2 hours of mandatory overtime every Monday, ugh. Better drink more coffee! :coffee:
I was soooooooo sick last week, finally went to the doc for a strep throat culture Friday. Wasn't strep, she said it was just a bad virus. :tired: Still not 100% today, but lots better than I was. Poor Tim, though, I made him sick, and he called in to work Friday, slept most of the weekend, and called in again this morning. :faint: Mike is going to work with me, then he will ride the light rail train to the college to see about registering, meet me at lunch so we can run to the bank and hopefully open a checking account, then he will head back down to his dad's house to have his dad check out a car tonight he is considering buying, and he has graduation practice Tues morning, graduation Wed night. Whew! He will be moving in with us probably sometime in July. Yesterday we went around and he picked up some job apps. Jana - yes, dear it was ME who went to Tahoe! Glad you liked the postcard. It's funny how many Kats and Katies (including your Katie) and RosieKates we have here -- and then there's Susan and suetalks and and Sue...congrats for being almost halfway to goal and staying OP so well! :high: Marti - oh, I bet your new bed is just beautiful :) And I loved Shrek too! Waiting for the crowds to die down to go see Harry Potter. Angie - thanks for the "just because" card, it brightened my day. THINKING PINK for you!!! :crossed: :goodvibes  Cristi - if you're out at Walmart, could you pick up a few things for me? :D Arghh...just glanced at the clock...time marches on, and so must I. It's gonna be a long day, *sigh*. Hopefully in the time I've been off sick, I haven't forgotten how to do my job! Hi to everybody else, and hope you all have a great day... Gotta fly, Katie |
Good morning, all
Well, scale said 195 today, so that makes down 2 for the week. My weight's been bouncing around a bit, probably due to TOM, so now I'm back to where I was b4 this months hormonal rampage. I'm feeling more upbeat than I was on Saturday - thanks all for being here and being so positive. I changed my sig, and like it much better. Reminds me of my successes - and I added a new scale today! My mini-goal is to add another scale by the 4th. Today is laundry, some housecleaning, mo' laundry, lol. That stuff just piles up over the weekend! Supposed to be a lovely rainy Oregon day, so I may be working out indoors today. Maybe I'll get out for a walk with Leigh this afternoon. Have a great day everyone! RosieKate |
Morning friends!!
I got to sleep in today due to my final not being until 10:00 this morning. But of coarse the next two days the final starts at 8:00 in the morning!! Getting ready to have some coffee and then wake James up (he's taking me to school today) and then get this Math final over with!! Wish me luck on the test! Better get ready......I will do individuals later on today. Marti |
Hi ladies,
Jen - you've been real busy! Moving your bedroom sounds like a good idea. I like to move things around once in awhile, though I don't do it as often as I used to. Neal used to tell people that he was afraid to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night for fear I'd move the bed while he was in there, lol. Marti - see what I mean? You guys are just so encouraging with your kind words. I bet your new bed is just gorgeous! Post a picture when you get it all done up, okay? Good luck with your math final. :crossed: Katiecat - hope you and Mike had fun at lunch today. Glad you are feeling better and hope Tim feels better soon, too. RosieKate - YAY for getting the 2 pounds back off! :cp: Here at the JL, we call a bunch of laundry Mount Washmore, lol. I think it was Angie who started that, but I'm not sure. Got some mending done today, and while I had the sewing machine out, I decorated a t-shirt for myself. I've been looking for a cotton shirt to wear with black capris, and can't find one I like. So I took a white t-shirt, and sewed on some fabric in triangle shapes and then sewed on some buttons.... anyway, I think it looks okay. Maybe I'll post a pic for your opinions. See you later, |
Hello again---
I just got up from a nap!! James wanted to lay down for awhile so we sprawled out on the couch....I wasn't too tired but then.......I was out!! :dizzy: Jana--Glad that your family reunion was a hit! Do you usually have it at your place? How many people get together? We used to have reunions at my grandparents....then it was just our family getting together for the holidays. I love our family get togethers. We always have so much to catch up on. About my bed....If I ever get the room straightened out I will post a photo of it! I love it! RosieKate--Don't you LOVE feeling upbeat? It really helps the motivation stick around when you need it! I honestly think that the weather has a lot to do with my upbeat feelings at times. Not the too hot weather, but more in the fall. And I notice around that time is the best time that I can lose weight and keep it coming off! (so what happened last fall? ) Katie--Sorry to hear that your hubby got sick....shouldn't be doing any smooching when your sick! ;) (I can never stop giving or getting kisses when I'm sick!) James was talking to me about the light rail they have in Portland, I've never been on one and I think it would be fun to get on one and explore more of Portland. We don't have one anywhere near here. (our towns are just not big enough I guess) Jen--Don't you worry about those 2lbs. I had been stuck at 150 for so long and now it seems that I keep gaining and losing 2lbs. rather than losing and keep losing. It will go away soon and more will follow!! And I totally agree with you how 10lbs. make a difference! Hard for me to believe that 10lbs. ago I was fitting more comfortably in my pants...which I don't wear btw!! And 10lbs. doesn't sound like a lot but darn it....it sure is hard to lose it!! Susan--140lbs. is just wonderful! I wish I could be saying that it's time for me to start a maintaining mode. But first I've got to work on the 5lbs. I want to lose just for June. I'm going to try to lose 5lbs. each month. That can be doable if I were to work on it! School is almost out and I should be able to workout more knowing I don't have to stress about homework. The job thing doesn't stress me as much...if I get one, I get one.......may take time but at least I will be trying. Hello to the rest of you gals!! Well I'm going to straighten up the house a bit. Our back porch really needs a hand at getting straightening up! The left over cardboard from the bed has taken over a section of it!! So need to cut that down and recycle it. And all that styrofoam!! Why can't they recycle that stuff? They really need to figure out how to do that....we have so much of it laying around from when we moved and from buying things.....just collects and adds up. Take Care ladies..... Marti |
I am not dead!!!!
Hello girls, I am sorry I have not been on in a while, busy with my crappy job and with having a crappy time. I have been on evry day reading the posts, but frankly I had nothing interesting to say. I really do nothing and my life is pretty boring.
Jana: I will add my two cents worth to all the others by saying you are such a role model for the weight loss along with susan. My thoughts and prayers were with you doing your trying times lately. Sorry I didn't get a card out to say so. Marti: say missy haven't heard from you in quite a while. What's up with that. We need to get together, I am going into friends withdrawal. I don't care what we do, just to have my friend to talk to would be wonderful. How about those kitties, are the gone yet???? I am glad you got a nice new bed and James is spoiling you with good things. i am also glad that he will be close by for a while, because i was worrying about you being alone too much. I just wish that we could get together more, but with my crappy job, I am stuck in agony five nights a week. Angie: thank you so much for that nice card you sent me. It is always nice to get something in the mail personal. I just wish all us gals could meet, so a face could be put to the niceness. Well, I better get ready for the pain of work and dealing with mean stupid people. I just wanted to make an appearance so people would not think I was dead or something although it doesn't think like anyone was missing me. :dizzy: At least i haven't been gone as long a kayecee. Anyone know what happenned to that funny gal???? Anywho chow for now. |
Good evening all
It was Kaycee who brought the Mount Washmore here...took me forever to figure out whe you all were talking about,,,same as TOM the guys are watching the LAST game of the season....*YAY!!! Went and did a bunch of errands... went to Penningtons' I can not go in there without buying! Tonight I bought jean capris ,,,so cute with buckles on the bottom. And capri sweats..bright blue. Ran out of money and will have to go back for the tees...bright orange and pink...there I go again with pink...lol Lori had an interview on Friday at my work,,,Angelika has one tomorrow morning... Katie, hack! been there done that,,,glad to know your on the mend. Is there a chance that Micheal could work at your place of work? I have one more load of laundry and I am done...*sigh but I do have ironing... Well better go,,,Tampa Bay just won the Stanley Cup night all Angie |
Evening ladies--
Popped in real quick to see who all has been in. Shanna--Of coarse we all miss you so don't think that we don't. As with the job....just think of it this way...at least you have a job. It could be worse you could still be waiting to hear from somebody who wants to hire you. There were time when working for Foster Farms that I really hated that job, but now I look at it as....at least I had a job. And it paid for things that needed paid. Don't worry.....you'll be back into school and you'll get that job as a Dentist assistant and you'll be all kinds of happy. We'll have to figure out when we can get together. Angie--Did you buy me any capri's??? :D I've been looking for some that I would like, but haven't found any yet. I guess I hate to buy too many pants that I want to outgrow!! (stupid thinking I know...I need something to wear now!) Any word on the house? Well, I have to say I'm extremely full! Too full at that! Ate too much as usual. I don't know why I think my plate needed an endless supply of food tonight!! I usually do so good!! Must change my ways now before it really gets out of hand!! Off I go to snuggle on the couch with James and watch my belly expand!! Night! Marti |
Hello. Have a chance to pop in here again. Nothing much going on at my house tonight. I am feeling quite a bit better, but have the ultrasound on Thurs. Our weather is getting hot..so guess what, our central air goes out today. I hope they can fix it tomorrow! Keep your fingers crossed for us. Otherwise we might roast.
Marti..Sounds like you are enjoying having James home. :) Have a good week everyone. Sue/suetalks |
Hey Marti,
nothing at all...I am getting worried we will never sell this place...thing is its really a cute house,,,its just TOO SMALL for all of us. Read somewhere that if you bury a St. Joseph facing south , face down you will sell your house....hmmmm just can't bring myself to to do something like that. ya know kidding about the capris,,,I must own about 10 pairs now. well off to work I go...have a great day all Angie |
Hi ladies,
Marti - my family had our reunion at the shelter house at the park. I really liked that. The kids played, and the women sat around and talked while the men played washer-boards. There was lots of laughter, and some tears as we remembered the ones who just died. Even with that, it was still a real good day. Shanna - aww, sweetie, I'm sorry your job stinks. Maybe you could find a different one for the rest of the summer? But like Marti says, just keep in mind that it's paying the bills, and you'll be back in school before you know it. Btw, I have missed you, but I don't say too much about you not being here so you won't feel pressured to post when you don't feel like it. Regarding Kayecee, I personally don't think she will be back for a long time if at all, but I could be wrong.... I hope I am. Angie - hope your friends both get hired where you work. I gotta tell you, when we sold our house (in 11 days) in town, here are a couple of things I did when someone was coming over for a look-see. Right before I left, I would bake a batch of chocolate chip cookies - you can use the sliced dough kind - which makes the house smell divine and seem homey! Homemade bread smell is better, but who's got time for that?? Also, I took all the cluttery stuff and stored it. And I made sure the table was set very cosily for 2, with nice placemats, napkins, lighted candles and a centerpiece. Also, the realtor had me turn on the lights in every room. The people's financing fell through, but then we sold it right away to somebody else. Just some ideas that might help..... Hi to Cristi and the others... Shanna thinks her life is boring.... she oughtta hang out with me for awhile, lol. Actually, after all the commotion we have had in the past couple of weeks, I'll take "boring" any day, lol. Went to town with Makenzie today and she was very good. Each twin is better behaved without the other, I'm finding out. My BIL sent me John Grisham's book Skipping Christmas and I'm plowing right through it! Very interesting. I don't know how I missed that one, since I've read all of his other stuff. Be good! |
Hey gals -
I'm waiting for Leigh to finish up her yogurt, then it's off for a walk. Jana - thanks for posting the cacciatore recipe - looks yummy and I think it looks even easier then the crock pot one I have. Glad you had a good time at your reunion. Reminds me of some of the big reunions my family used to hold at the coast. We'd commandeer an good part of a campground back then. All you Oregonian gals - did you all catch the thunderstorm yesterday? Probably wasn't as far south as Cottage grove, but up here we were dumped on. I love it - means I don't have to water my plants or the grass, lol My son was kind of freaked. He's a little high strung on a good day, so a storm like that makes him really nervous. But it didn't last that long and he calmed down, thank good ness So - off i go Hi to everyone and here's to a good OP day for everyone Cheers RosieKate |
Hello ladies--
Got up early this morning, took my final in Word, just checked my e-mail and already received my grade on it! A!!!! (miss one little thing!) So I'm pleased with that! I think I did pretty good on the math test yesterday and tomorrow.....the dreaded Accounting final! Then it's over!! :cb: Sue--Hi there! I sure do enjoy my time with James. We have been together for almost 6yrs. and we actually still like each other! :D I'll be thinking of you on Thursday...hoping everything turns out ok. Angie--10 pairs of Capri's?! Wow!! Send some over! I have yet to get any.....if I ever do! Went to the mall with James today and saw some, but just wasn't in the mood to try things on. I have to be in the right mood to see myself try to stuff my rolls in clothes! Jana--I've heard that John Grisham has some good books. I haven't read any of his yet. But I was intrigued by the title. If I like the title to a book, I usually try to read it. RosieKate--We had a DOWNPOUR yesterday! And TODAY!! What happened to that beautiful sun that I was loving just last week??????? :?: Oh! just had an interruption at the front door!! A vacuum salesman. Kirby vacuum!! I had forgotten that they still go door to door! The man(kid) was nervous, I was his first person he had to go to so I told him to relax and to explain it all to me what he wanted to do then I had to open up my door a little and show him that I had WOOD FLOORS! (yeah, I let him spill it all out before I showed him that!) Of coarse Cocoa was barking like crazy and James is in bed trying to nap since he's on the graveyard shift! Ok ladies, I have to report to the challenge thread and respond to some PM's I received today! (wow......how fun is that to get a PM?) :D Take Care Marti |
Hiya! Just wanted to check in while I had a minute and see how things are going. Actually, it is too hot outside to do too much of anything that I need to do, so I'd rather sit her in the a/c.
The last couple days have been really good for me, so I'm feeling all pepped up. I found some wonderful fruit bars. They are Edy's brand frozen real fruit bars. I had a strawberry one, actually had real strawberries in it. And only 120 cals. I also tried some that are no added sugar for only 30 cals, but they don't have the chunks of fruit, but they are still good. Marti - Congrats on your classes. What are you going to school for? You sure had alot of patience with that salesman. I bet he was glad for the experience anyway. Rosiekate - I would love to have a good storm. I really like to sit out on the porch and watch them roll in. I actually get really excited when there are alot of warnings, even tornado. I would love to see a tornado, but I surely don't want to be in one! Jana - I haven't tried any of John Grishams books yet? Which one would be the best to start with? Angie - I had forgotten all about my capris that I can't fit into right now. I've got some really cute ones too. Man, now I really need to get motivated. 10 lbs and it should be all good. Shanna - my life isn't all exciting. I generally work, eat, sleep, clean, and do yardwork. I actually get excited about going to the grocery store. It's like a game, how much food can I buy for the fewest calories? Sue - good luck with your ultrasound on Thursday. If you have pretty classic gall bladder symptoms, but you US doesn't show anything, ask your doc about a HIDA scan (pronounced HIGH-duh). It actually tests the squeeze ability of it. They do use a little radioisotope and may induce an attack if it is having problems. I had my gb out 3 yrs ago. My US was ok, but my HIDA scan showed slowed functioning. I actually had fat that was tying it down to my chest wall so it couldn't function. No stones or infection. Strange. Well, I guess it's time to do something around here! Jen |
Good morning ladies,
RosieKate - we had storms here last week and boy am I glad to see the sunshine. The cacciatore recipe really is a cinch - just one skillet and viola! It's done! Marti - YAY for your A in Word! :cp: and good luck on the Accounting final today. :crossed: Jen - thanks for the tip about the fruit bars. I'm always looking for something new to keep it interesting, lol. For you and Marti both, I'd recommend John Grisham's The Client. It's a story based on two poor little boys and a female lawyer who helps them. Very touching in parts. All in all, a very good read. Gotta tackle Mt Washmore today. Also, I'm watching my friend's tiny granddaughter while her DD is having surgery. The DD went in for her 6 week check up postpartum, and they found some cancer on her cervix, so they're doing the surgery today. Also, Mary started her new job today and since Dale is newly post-op, we may be helping him with the kids. Thank goodness Neal and Katie are home! Be good! |
By the way, Ladies, it is not too soon to begin thinking of a slumber party in Oregon...... maybe in the Fall?
|
Good morning, ladies...
Got my coffee, starting to wake up... :coffee:
Shanna -- of COURSE we miss you when you aren't here! It always makes me smile to see your little hamster picture on the board :) About the job, hon...well, I gotta agree with Marti and Jana...if it pays the bills, it sure beats not having any $ to pay the bills. I'm certainly not in my dream job, it's pretty high stress and there's a high burnout rate for folks in my field, but since I have to spend 1/3 of my day 5 days a week there, I just try to focus on the stuff about it that I do like: the pay is decent, most of my co-workers are great, my direct supervisor is wonderful....umm....the grounds where I work are beautiful, like a park, so it's nice to walk around there...and even though I deal with a lot of flakes and people that aren't too smart and have lots of excuses, I also deal with some customers who are very nice and pleasant, and with some customers who really need my help and are very appreciative. Those are the ones who make my day -- I like helping people :) So hang in there, and hopefully you'll be back in school soon! If you'd like more snail mail :snail: PM me your home address sometime and I'll send stuff. :D Angie -- your new outfits sound cute! They finally switched to summer dress code at my work, which means jeans are ok everyday not just Fridays, and women can wear capris. Some of they guys grumbled about that because they can't wear shorts - the call center director said women can't wear shorts either, but if guys really want to wear capris they are welcome to! I just really can't bring myself to buy any clothes at this size. *sigh* And I hate the way my legs look in shorts anyway. Maybe capris would be ok...I should go at least try some on...I can't believe a FLORIDA team won the Stanley Cup! :lol3: There's no ICE in Florida! Ah well, all the players are from Canada and Russia anyway, aren't they? A Russian friend at work told me Tampa Bay won, and proudly pointed out that the goalie is Russian. Jana's suggestion about the cookies is very good :cookie: The realtor who helped my sister sell had suggested that. If you want the smell of baking bread, you can always buy frozen bread dough, and bake that. Marti -- congrats on your A in Word, and you're almost there! Good luck on that accounting final :goodluck: Finals are really stressful, glad it's almost over for you. And glad you are getting some time to spend with your sweetie ;) Suetalks -- :crossed: holding good thoughts for you about your US. I've heard gallbladder problems are just miserable. Glad you are feeling better. What part of the country do you live in? It's usually close to 100 here (Northern CA) by Memorial Day weekend, but we've had a break this year. A few days got up to the high 90's but it's been in the 80's for a little while. The longer the mild weather lasts, the better. I hate it when it's over 90. Jana -- Family reunions are so much fun! My family is really scattered. I guess when my sister and I went to help Mom with her paperwork, that was kind of a mini reunion  You said the men played "washerboards"? What is that? Sounds like you have your hands full watching little ones, good thing you have helpers! Rosiekate -- send some of that rain down here...my grass really needs it, and the sprinkler never gets moved around evenly enough. My roses look thirsty, too... Jen -- frozen fruit bars really help curb my sweet tooth. I found some cherry ones at Trader Joe's -- haven't tried them yet, but I love cherry :T  I will look for the Edy's brand... Hi to everyone else! It's that time, gotta run...Mike graduates tonight :D See you soon, Katie |
Good morning everyone!
Shanna - Sorry the job stinks - I've certainly had my share of those. Now I'm a SAHM and if I want my working conditions to improve - I have to do it myself :dizzy: Kidding aside, I do feel fortunate that we've been able to pull it off for as long as we have. Eight years ago, I thought i'd be bored out of my mind, but it's been anything but boring. Howver, there are days, let me tell you. Yesterday DS had a playdate w/ a kid who whined constantly about wanting to play on the computer. I made the boys go outside as it was sunny for a brief period - well whine whine whine - my kid was even telling him to shut up. Then my 2 y/o fell and got a big owie on her eye and now she looks like Robert DeNiro in Raging Bull. I managed to escape in the evening to get my hair cut and boy, it felt good just to hand over everybody to DH! Marti - congrats on the A - well done, my friend! Angie - Capris are cute, I bought a pair from Landsend for Easter and they are so comfortable. Jana - definitely going to try that cacciatore recipe. If we meet in Oregon, we could meet up at the coast so all you midwest folks can see the Pacific. I'll be ready for a getaway in the fall. I'll be taking two classes and on the board of DD's co-op preschool - in addition to the usual hubbub. Jen- The talk about fruit bars reminded me of a treat I used to like. I think Haagen daaz puts out a fruit bar, raspberry sherbet with a vanilla center. It was only 90 calories and very yummy. I can't keep that stuff around the house 'cause I can't stop at one! Sue - good luck on the ultrasound - hope the news is good. Katiecat - have fun at the graduation! Well, today is James's last day of school - so he's done with 1st grade! It's been a good year, he's really liked his teacher. I hear great stuff about the 2nd grade team, so we are all excited about him moving on up. We'll have to celebrate tonight - Have a great day, everyone! RosieKate |
Ugh!!
It's all over and I'm relieved!! I don't have any idea how I did on the accounting final. There were things that I knew and things I was confused but in the end I finished it....but I didn't balance. And I didn't want to sit forever trying to figure out why....so I left it. (terrible isn't it?) Then I went to sell my books back (I don't want them anymore) and you know, I was only able to sell 2 back!! Out of 7!! Oh well...I'll keep them for later if I need to refresh my memory. Jen--I love frozen fruit bars! The strawberry is one of my favorites. Great to have in the summer and you want something sweet but not fattening! Plus it helps cool you down. Jana--You have your hands full don't ya? I'd offer my help but I think I'm too far away! Hope you get your Mt. Washmore tackled and then try and find some relaxing time. Katie--Congratulations to Mike!!! How are you going to celebrate? I have some friends who want to take James and I out to dinner. As a late wedding gift/last day of school celebration. Nothing like having dinner paid for!! :D RosieKate--Tomorrow is Jhanai's last day of school. Fifth grade next year!! I was trying to remember when I was in the fifth grade,,,,seems SOOOOO long ago! But she's pretty excited. I can't remember what her reasonings were, but 5th grade has something to look forward too. Hello to the rest of you gals! I'm not sure what all I plan on doing today. I would like to go get my hair cut sometime this week. I think I will use my book money to go get it cut! :) (pretty nice to get $80 back for 2 books!) Other than that, I need to job hunt. See what's out there for me. I haven't heard a thing with the other places so it's time to get moving and start hunting. I will check in later today. Marti |
Here I am again!! :D
I figured I would stop in here and post instead of going to the kitchen and finding something to snack on. The thing I want though is popcorn, but I can't make that right now since James is napping. He's on the graveyard shift for a week or so....(maybe all three weeks before conductor school) So, no making loud obnoxious noises! Not until I know it's close to him needing to get up that is! :s: Here is a question I want to ask. Has any of you lost a lot of weight then gain some back and then have no one realize that you gained back weight? (does that make sense?) the reason I'm asking is because I was over at a friends house and I was commenting on how NON-active I have become since Sony closed and she said that I still look great. Then I told her I had gained 15lbs. back since Sony. She said that she couldn't really tell. So I've wondered.....did anyone really notice the weight LOSS I had before? I must camoflauge well. But my thighs and tummy have seen the worst of my lack of movement...(which is why I'm determined to squat like crazy when I exercise) This morning I noticed that my thighs are looking the worse than they have ever looked!! It's like someone slapped some melting fat on them!! I'm losing any tone I may have had!! I have lumps that I never used to have and it's just very discouraging! I have my times of motivation, but it doesn't seem to last long for me anymore and I'm wondering why? I need to figure out what is holding me back!! I have been trying to walk and do other exercises since that is my challenge that I have set for myself...but I don't think I'm working hard enough on it. What's it going to take? Ok, I know those are really questions that only I can answer but I had to get it out. I feel better. Ok....enough of my whining about the way my body looks. I better go do something about it! :D Like some squats!!!!!! Probably check in later Marti |
I have had more trouble wiht my computer this past 2 hours....grrr I can't get into my yahoo email...says something about my cookies...better be macadamian nut cookies....
Great job on the A Marti, ya know when you asked the question about people not noticing your weight loss or gain, I remember I had lost about 50 lbs and no one noticed...so it seemed. When I gained it back no one said anything so I don't know...really not observent people I have around me. Jana, I have done all that and more. When we had open house it was cold and raining,,,I lite about 5 pillar candle around,,,turned ont he fireplace and had cinnamon pastries on a plate with coffee... I had fresh flowers in a couple of rooms,,,and still nothing. Katie, I was shocked to see Tampa win too, they are a new team,,7 yrs old? I believe they came from Winnapeg. 40 players played in the finals and 28 were Canadian 7 were Eurpean and 5 American. But I think they wanted teh cup more then the Flames... Monte works with a guy who was out jobbing one early morning and saw the coach from Tampa out jogging...talked a bit with him and said he was a really nice guy. BTW they make capris for guys now...tell them to check out Old Navy or Espirit... Angelika and I went for such a long walk yesterday,,,it was beautiful out. My ol runners thou gave me problems...I have a quarter size blister now so I know I need a new pair. well I need to get to bed,,,night all Angie |
Good morning ladies,
First off - Cristi has some things going on in her life right now and won't be posting for awhile - around 3 weeks, she said. She and I won't be meeting in Evansville either, I am sad to say. Possibly we can reschedule it, but I don't know yet. Anyway, let's keep her in our thoughts and prayers, that whatever is wrong soon gets fixed, okay? We're thinking of you, Cristi!!! If there's anything we can do, you know the Jaded Ladies will do anything possible to help you!!! Katiecat - how did the graduation go? I have to admit that I cried during my older two's ceremonies, and I'm sure I'll get teary eyed through Katie's next year, too. Washerboards is like horseshoes, sort of, using a slanted board with holes in it, and metal washers to throw. It's fun! I tried it, and they said I "wasn't bad for a girl" which honked me off, lol. I can just see your male coworkers in capris! LOL!! I love capris and wear them almost exclusively. My legs are too fat for shorts, and so capris are perfect. I like the ones with a little bit of stretch in them so they don't bag out at the knees. RosieKate - how's the new haircut? Post a picture if you want - we'd love to see it. What classes are you taking in the Fall? Yay for James being a 2nd grader now. How exciting! My 2nd grade teacher was a very old nun, and she would fall asleep at her desk several times a day. I remember we would sit there and just be still until she woke up, because we didn't know what else to do. Keep in mind this was 1960, lol. Marti - speaking of school, I hope Jhanai enjoys 5th grade as much as I did. We had a "lay" teacher (not a nun) and she was awesome! But that's when JKF was assassinated, so that part was scary to a 10 year old. About the gain not being noticed, yes ma'am, it happened to me all the time! But then, the losses aren't noticed tiemely, either, til I lose a bunch! I blamed it on my height, but maybe people don't look us over as well as we thought, lol. Btw, yay for finals being over!!! :cp: Angie - sounds like you're doing all the right things to sell your house! In the meantime, go get some new shoes, lol. I also need some before we go on vacation in October. Susan - I'm going to borrow the wet noodle from the JL who last had it and come after you!!! Hope things are well. If you got the job, come celebrate with us, and if you didn't, come cry on our shoulders, ok?... and keep in mind that it's THEIR loss, okay? Hi to all the MIA Jaded Ladies! Gotta go shopping today and do some other errands. It's hot and muggy here in Indiana and Neal just put up a small pool, so you know where I'm gonna be later, don't you?? Get your suits on and join me! Be good, Jana |
Hi!
Christi - wherever you are - hope you are getting through your challenges okay - I'm saying a little prayer for you today Jana - My hair doesn't look all that different from my current pix, just feels so good to get a trim. I don't get to the hairdresser as often as I used to, it's about once every three months. Probably 'cause I'm so caught up in kid stuff and there's just no time or money to do it more often. The classes I'll take are continuing education I do in order to keep my teaching credential current. When my kids are both in school all day, I plan to substitute and in OR I need a teaching license to do it. I figured it's easier just to keep mine current than to let it lapse and try to re-certify. I've taken some great classes about internet and education in the past, so I may pursue that some more. Well, I'll come back later to try to post some more - the kids are already screaming at each other - and it's only the 1st day of summer vacation :dizzy: RK |
Good morning everyone. Say, did they widen the area for posting?? How neat is that? Well I was up bright and early this morning with James....4am!! He was suppose to be in Eugene for the next three weeks, but yesterday when he came home they said that they had too many people in that area and sent James to Salem. (1 1/2 hr away) But he'll be home friday night then he has to go back up Sunday night. He just really wants to be here for Jhanai's birthday! Which is the 21st.
I have just cleaned up my PM inbox! Didn't realize how many I had accumalated over the year!! Had to make sure I kept all your addresses in there incase something happens to the ones I wrote down!! Angie--Nothing like having shoes that hurt your feet when you're trying to do a good thing by walking. I have a pair like that that I ended up tossing way back in the closet. My toes hurt so bad on the sides!! Darn shoes!! Jana--Thank you for letting us know about Cristi. I really do hope you can reschedule your visit! Enjoy your outing today! RosieKate--Haircuts always feel good when a pair of scissors has touched them!! Unless of coarse the person cutting get's too crazy with it!! The rest of you girls...come on in and chat awhile!! We won't bite I promise!! :D I better get some laundry going today. Nothing like a pile up after a couple days of neglect and then you're in no mood to touch it all!! Take Care! Marti |
Yes, it is hot in Indiana. Although we might get some rain later. It sprinkled this morning.
I got the dreaded ultrasound over with and will just await results now. I know I am tired of feeling so nauseated. But on the plus side ..another pound bit the dust. More later......... Sue |
Thanks , Jana..........
I am reading the posting that is going on, just tired. I stare at the screen and darn if I know what to write. Some days I work the 1pm to 10pm shift only to turn around the next day and be back for the 8 to 5 shift, very tiring. Nothing on the job yet, Neither YAY nor NAY.......boggles my mind. I did do our newsletter and that took a couple of days.Never worked on Publisher before and learned tons........really came out great. Can't wait to start on July's...lol Shanna!!! Hey, sweety..... I know how you feel. Sometimes if I don't write I feel out of the loop. Come to Portland and visit me!! Would love that- :)........ Hope all is well with Cristi :).......You guys come to Oregon- certainly would have enough Hostesses!! RosieKate- Which teacher is the cute strawberry blonde hair lady?? Mid 40ish? I like her a lot.....Ms.Lee is great too....she cried during the 5th grade graduation, very sweet lady. Mr.B is a great principal as well......geez, hope I get to move over in that area so Gaby can go to school there..... Hey, Ang!! Rose Festival coming up.........thinking of you! ok, pooped........ Hi to everyone!! :) :) |
Hi girls--
I have a headache!! Just came to me as I started posting..... :( I've found two places to put my resume's in. One is close by, the other is in Eugene....I have to find something. I don't even care if it's part-time! Anything will do! (ok, maybe not anything) Sue--Hope the results come back with good news. Sorry that you're still feeling all icky! Hurray for the pounds coming off, but not for the reasons they're coming off! Susan--How long does the Rose Festival last? James was in Portland last week and he checked it out and everything. I've never been to it. Although we did drive by one year and had NO idea what was going on!! Hope that you hear about the job soon. I hate the waiting part!! Ok girls...I better skidaddle.... Take care Marti |
Hi Marti-
I think the RF goes on for 2 weeks and some events last til Father's Day weekend. Last weekend was the Star Light parade, didn't make that, though I probably could have walked down to it. I think the main parade is Saturday morning- 10 to noon. Angie and I watched that from the Burnside bridge when she came - eons ago,,,,lol. It was raining, it was horrible. Anyway- the wait is a bore. I ate candy yesterday and my main boss called. He said "my you are happy"...lol.......yep, you can pass me over and I won't care....... btw- was going to say only my ex and Rach & Becky have noticed my weighloss.....what?? 24 pounds.......my co workers and rest of my family have never said anything........course the original 110lbs back in 2000, that was noticed....lol....duh- ok- another 4 hours to go!!! Darn..........so glad tomorrow is Friday!!!!!! :) Good luck on the job search! ttfn |
Okay, I am way past due for some individual notes. I pop in here several times a day to read, but get too lazy to post much.
Thinking of Christi and hoping she can get back here soon. Marti- "School's out, school's out, teacher let the monkeys out!" Hope you have fun. Good luck finding a job. I laughed over your comment that you and James actually still like each other. :) Angie- OUCH! Hope your blister doesn't keep you from doing your walks. I have come to love walking and hate the days I don't feel like it. RosieKate- 1st day of summer vacation and how many more to go? haha. Good luck with your continuing education. Jana- I really like reading and Grisham is one of my favorites. Jan- Yes, my Dr. has already said if the ultrasound shows nothing he will order a Hida scan. He explained about the squeeze function. It might take that because last time they checked my gallbladder they said it showed nothing. Thanks for the good wishes. Katie- I live in Indiana and we are having hot weather but had a beautiful Spring. My daughter lives North of San Fran and I have a son in San Diego. I could easily live in CA as I love both areas where they live. I think San Diego has the most perfect weather. Do you live in or near wine country or farther north? I know I didn't get everyone and I will try again soon.... Hope you are all gearing up for a very nice week-end. We plan to walk around a local fair tomorrow and then go to a family picnic Sat. I am baking the lemon cake and making a fruit salad for the picnic so I can eat someting. I know they will have all kinds of "no-no" food. Thank goodness I have not had a big appetite. Sue/suetalks |
Hey all,
Susan I hate when you have to wait for something like this. I remember it was exactly 4 yrs ago this week that I spent 3 days hanging out wiht you. mmmelephant ears...dang I need to have a fix and soon...lol Jana, I hope Cristi is ok,,, And like you I love capris,,,like you guys couldn't tell...lol 5 pairs of jean capris, dressy capris, casual hanging out capris...saw some funky red carpis...will go and check them out. I cleaned all day today,,,and threw away those runners...I lost alot of weight with those runners...*sigh and I also got rid of 4 other pairs of shoes...that I never wear. Feeling the need for some shoes thou...replacements. Sue, glad to know that procedure is over...I hated it,,,did they shoot you up with dye? Rosie, I love getting my hair done. Im feeling the need for some funky colors... My mom called tonight with sad news..one of my aunts lost her battle with cancer,,we will be going up the beginning of next week for the memorial. I feel the need to pull the house of the market, I can't handle the stress,,,literally I could feel my blood pressure rising all the time. Even went to the Dr to get it checked...130 over 90 isn't good is it? I also talked about how the boys won't stop fighting and I don't know maybe some family councilling would help. Im not normally a cranky person but Im showing signs of it at work. Well off to bed I go, night all Angie |
