Today I have started again in earnest. Last night was a disaster. The freezer kept calling me to eat the ice cream and the funny thing is I'm not an ice cream lover. I like large portions of food.Salty things are not my bag either, I don't use much even in cooking and that goes back to the days when my Dad wasn't allowed salt so growing up never developed a taste for it. I've been known to send food back in a restuarant because the food was so salty. I think I am buying a food scale and going to start to measure my food. I have big eyes and don't know what a real portion should be. My daughter joined sparkspeople.com on the internet and so far is doing well. I don't think I need to pay for diet help as by this age enough people have made money off my fat and I know what I have to do. Wish me luck. Thhe real test comes tonight as we are going out for dinner with friends. Bernice

:) Hello everyone: Hope you all are doing well. Wanna know my weight huh?
Ugh. The highest I have ever been in my whole life was I think 212. :o :( At 5 feet 3 thats pretty scary. I started this newest self improvement at 178 and just the other day I weighed in a 170 :) So! I am pleased with myself for that. Bonnie I also love salt. Don't know why. I also am addicted to peanut butter. :?: I just don't get that one. So.........I don't have peanut butter in the house. The dynamics of obesity (or overweightedness!)!!! I eat when I am stressed or tired. How about everybody else??? I often am very impressed with the dramatic weight losses of the gastric bypass/stapling surgeries but I wonder if People will gain the weight back? I don't eat because I am hungry!! What do you all think? Starting to feel better now. I hope none of you gets that upper respiratory infection. Yuk! sure glad I don't smoke anymore! Linda

grandma57 07-24-2004 03:43 PM

Moogee 07-24-2004 09:33 PM

OK went out for dinner and was good till dessert. Actually went to friend's house first and had a club soda and none of the horr deorves. The restuarant almost didn't serve us because we missed our 8:30 reservation and got there at 9 and I think my friend went into the kitchen and pressed the palm of the chef cause suddenly we were not a problem anymore. We were the only ones in the place and I guess n the country they just close the kitchen at 9 and that's it. Anyway had a salad with a little blue cheese dressing, some bread with butter which I usually don't partake in but I was really hungry as all I had eaten was breakfast. Dinner was rack of lamb with veggies and mashed potatoes but I only ate half. Dessert was another matter. Because the other couple ordered dessert (their fault-LOL) I felt like I was given permission to do the same and I ordered a tiramisu that I sort of shared with my DH however I really ate most of it. Trouble is I have no guilt for my transgressions. Bad!
Today I had a fried egg in Pam with 2 strips of turkey bacon, 1/2 a toasted bagel, small amt of margerine and coffee with skim milk. Lunch was a frozen quesidilla and coffee and skim milk
As for frame size, can't remember if I answered Bonnie's question. Medium boned. Really in my next life I'd like to be small boned and about 5 ft 3 in and wear a size 4. I love fantasy.
Hope everyone's having a pleasant Sunday, it's cool here in Jersey. By the way, we called about tickets to Luciano Pavarotti's concert in Aug and would you believe they have the nerve to charge 604.25 a ticket That's right 604.25. What nerve. Hope nobody goes. Bernice

Moogee 07-25-2004 06:43 PM

You are an inspiration and I promise I'll be good today.
Went to water aerobics and that instructor really gives us a work out to music of the 50's It's a lot of fun. Bernice

soready 07-26-2004 01:05 PM

Linda, Forgot to answer your question. live in Sparta, NJ which is in the Northwest part of the state. Probably 45 minutes from Paterson. We probably are the loveliest part of the garden state because we are mountains and lakes and near the Pocono Mts of Pennsylvania.

Moogee 07-27-2004 12:01 AM

:) Nine lbs!!! Hooray for you!!! Congratulations and thank you so much for the motivating happy faces! Sounds like everybody is in the same mindset that we need to watch out for our health. Weighed in today. Still the same but I am not discouraged! 8 lbs since the 4th of July isn't bad. But I can't wait to reach the next plateau. :strong: Walked again today and good grief I thought I would melt by the time I got back to my house. Even though it is so hot I still enjoy walking outside more than being on the treadmill.Yep old Jersey girl. Raised in Little Falls. Also lived in the country of the Pocono Mts for.. probably 12 years or so. Also lived in Oregon and my most recent move from No. Va (don't know why I am writing all of you my whole hx!) THE BEST ITALIAN FOOD IS STILL IN N.J. I miss it! Oh well.. :dizzy: I am getting tired. Good night one and all..........Linda

Moogee 07-27-2004 01:38 PM

Hello everybody. I think I am going to get a post-it with everybodys names on it. I can't keep "ya-all" straight! Each one of you helps me to stay motivated! Let me ask another question of all members here. What do you do to reward yourselves when you reach a personal weight loss goal? I have decided to buy myself some 1940-1950 type earrings. A pair came yesterday from e-bay. What about everybody else? Gotta go to work. Have a nice evening and will chk in later. Linda

suzq55 07-27-2004 04:48 PM

Hi all
I'm back from vacation.. Actually, I was back yesterday, but if you would have seen my desk :dizzy:
I spent 4 days in Ohio at the home of an Italian family with an Italian Festival going on. Needless to say there was plenty of food and all totally yummy! Then on to Door County. I did only eat 1/2 of my dinner every night though. So, I skimmed through the past posts. Sounds like everyone is on track pretty much. I am 5'1" (and 1/2) and weigh 201. Was 212 and then lost 50 lbs to 162 but then gained back. I want to be 135-140. I know this may sound high for my height, but actually I hide my weight pretty well and at 52 years old I'm not ever going to be 125 again! :censored:
So, had a great time on vacation and now it's nose to the grindstone :tread: and feet to the treadmill.
I will write more later, I need to go home now :tired:
We have about 22 weeks until Christmas and I plan to be a lot lighter by then, how about you all?
Catch you later, suzq

suzq55 07-28-2004 02:44 PM

I guess I'd have to say medium frame. How do you know? I know that my wrists and ankles are not small. Does that have anything to do with it?
Thanks for the welcome back. Had a great time. Hard to come back to work and hard to start back on the weight thing. suzq

soready 07-28-2004 03:27 PM

We are leaving early tomorrow for Fla. Hope we can convince my husband's aunt it's time to come North to live near familyI know how tough it is to put the dogs in the kennel. Three of mine went in yesterday and the fourth is ailing with bladder stones so she is going to my daughter. I feel so bad leaving them, don't remember feeling this bad leaving the kids in camp.
My son leaves on hiss 17 day odessy out west and I will be on pins and needles till he's home safe. 17 days on a motorcycle is not my idea of fun but hey I'm only a mother so I'm doing what's expected and will worry.
Won't have access to a computer so I guess I will check in the first week in Aug. Hope you all continue to watch and I'd better keep my act together. Bernice

suzq55 07-29-2004 10:28 AM

Soready.. is your son going to Sturgis for the rally? My husband is too but he'll only be gone a week. We're probably closer than you though.
Anyhow, as far as the frame size, I guess I would be large boned then because my fingers don't meet around my wrist. I thought I would be smaller boned because I'm so short. Oh well...

I hope all of you have a good day. I'll check in later for any new messages.
Congrats on the 10 lbs by the way  :balloons: :cheer:
suzq

Moogee 07-29-2004 01:15 PM

Hello there! MsT!!!! 10lbs!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS There is just something about the 2 digit numbers that is so rewarding. Time to shop??? Have been busy the last few days not sleeping. I swear it is just the menopause thing. Saturday should be great for you with the grand daughter coming. Have a wonderful vs. When is Bernice getting back? I would be nervous too (motorcycle). Tell me again how to measure your frame? I was talking with one of my co-workers last evening. When I showed her how I measured my wrists.......well.... She said I did it wrong. When I remeasured at the smallest part, my fingers overlap a little. Whats that mean??? I am WAY fat? Oh well. I will just keep plugging along. Had a little sliver (about 1/2in peice of cake last night. It was excellent. Did 2 miles on the treadmill today. Think I worked it off?
Hey anybody else?? How do you reward yourselves for goals met?? Linda

Moogee 07-30-2004 12:05 AM

Hello! Ok so I am an anal yutz. This is my very last question about the "bone size" I overlap by about a 1/2 inch. So.... Well I can't help it! What if you just have small wrists:) ?? ( seems unscientific!) Anyway... I will let it go now. Yawn. Home and off work tommorrow. Co-workers say I am starting to look thinner. Anybody else getting positive feedback? 10 lbs has to show Bonnie! Do you walk everyday?
Liz: what kind of horse to you ride? My daughter rode english years ago. I love the smell of horse manure.(yeah ok, thats weird too). Bye til tommorrow Linda

suzq55 07-30-2004 03:08 PM

Hi
well, according to my scale at home (haven't been to WW yet) I lost 1 1/2 pounds from the 3 I gained on vacation. :goodscale So, I'm hoping by Wednesday (WW weigh in) that I lose the other 1 1/2. I have been trying to journal every day, whether it be points or just my thoughts, that seems to help. :write:
Well, I guess I am a big boned person. Although I think it helps me not show my weight as much. :cp:

I wonder if anyone else does what I do and that is count weeks until a certain event and plan to lose 2 lbs a week?? Weird I know. :dizzy:
But for instance, I have 7 weeks until a wedding (14 lbs????), 12 weeks until my DH and I go out to our daughter's in CA (24 lbs???) and 21 weeks until a couple days before Christmas (42 lbs????) Now, if I could stick to that I would be in heaven :cloud9:

What else is happening with everyone today??? Have a great weekend if I don't check back today. suzq
