Hi Courtney!

First of all, Yay for you on that 5 pounds! Whoop-de-do! That is a huge relief to finally get off of a plateau. I loved your story about pulling your boyfriend off the computer and going for a walk- that's exactly the kind of thing that we all have to do- just get moving, even if it's only a little more than we did yesterday!
Thanks for asking about the job interview- actually it went really well! They said they'd call by the end of this week. It seems like it would be a good place to work, altho it is a bit of a drive. The weird part is that if they hire me, it is to replace their current bakery manager- which makes me feel a little odd. Who knows, they may decide to hold off. I look at it this way- every interview is practice for the one that will get me a job- right?
Well, I'll let ya know if anything happens! Have a great day!

Let's call today "Thin Thursday"---

Hi Everyone,
I've already went for a 2 mile walk this morning before work. I usually work out after work, but I have some friends who are moving and I told them I would be over after work to help them, so I wanted to get in some sort of a workout. I thought I would get plenty of "strength training", helping them with the boxes!, so I decided to get my cardio done this morning.

I want to welcome ShortOne and KKristin. I'm pretty new myself, but I've found this to be a great source of encourgement.

KKristen: I find that having a gym membership that I'm paying for helps to get me there everyday. I also have a workout partner there and that helps as well, plus you see the same people and they start looking for you.

It helps to see that Jenn has already made it to ONEderland...thanks for sticking around for the rest of us and guiding us on this journery.

Barb: I hope the job thing happens for you soon. I'll pray that the best job for you comes along soon!

Praytherosary: I'm a slow loser also, so I know how you feel about your body loving the weight...mine is fond of mine also!--but I'm boss of myself, and I say it's going!

Well, I'm at work, so I must get at it, I'll check in later.

Have a ONEderful day! :D

Hello Girls

Say a little prayer my hubby and I are weighing in tomorrow morning. I hope it'a a good one. We've done pretty good all week so I hope if we don't show a loss, we don't show a gain either. How often do you ladies weigh in? We try once a week, I somtimes go nuts and do it every day. undefined

IF IT IS TO BE THEN IT IS UP TO ME!!!undefined

Hello Hello!!

Hi Girls!!

How was everyone's day? I hope great. Mine was really good. My mood has really been up lately, which is really nice for a change. Not that I'm always crabby, though my drivers might say otherwise, it's just that so much has gone on in the last couple months and it's all finally calming down and getting back to normal, or at least more normal then if has been. I'm not sure I actually remember what "normal" really is like, I'm so used to chaos!! :dizzy:

Things are going really well diet-wise. I think between the positive results of my weigh-in the other day and all the great support I've gotten here from all you guys, it has given me the motivation and incentive to really stick to my diet. Granted it's only been a couple days, but some of the greatest accomplishments all started with the first couple days, right? So I guess I'm just feeling kinda proud of myself. Don't worry, I'll get over it soon. :^:

Barb, I bet you did great at your interview. You always have such a positive, upbeat attitude. But yes you're right, if you don't, you can think of it as good practice until the right job comes along. Looking for a job and all the processes that go with it is always kinda scary. I'll keep ya in my thoughts. :goodvibes

Praytherosary, I'll definitely keep ya in my prayers. I know how tough weigh-in days can be.

I wanted to thank you all for your kind words and congrats you all sent me. It meant a lot to me, and it was great knowing you all really understood what a cool thing it was for me. I'm really happy I found this board.

Anyway, I hope you all have a terrific Friday...woohoo the weekend is just around the corner!! Take care and we'll talk to ya soon!!

Hi Short One

Hey there!!

Welcome!! I just joined here last weekend, and all the girls have already made me feel right at home. They're the greatest. You'll love it here. It's an amazing support group!!

I'm doing South Beach also. I started March 15th. How are you liking is so far. I think there are a lot of different diets out there that all have their good points. It just depends on which one works best for the individual. This one is working out great for me. I hope you're finding the same.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and let ya know I was a So. Beacher, too. Have a good night and hope ya have a great day tomorrow!!

Newbie!!

 Hi everyone! I'm new to this thing and thought this would be a great motivator for me!! I have been reading a lot of stories and you guys are all so inspiring!! :cp: But I am having a really hard time getting started on the road to getting healthy... :( I somtimes get really depressed and it all just seems overwhelming!! I have over 100 pounds to lose and that number just seems too impossible!! :yikes: I am a total fast food adict and can't seem to rid myself of this AWFUL habit! Has anyone else suffered from this problem?? If so, how did you overcome it? I eat it 3-4 times a week!! :sumo: Does anyone have any ideas or advice on how to get started and motivated to begin a weight loss/exercise program? I'd really appreciate any help you guys could give me! I'm struggling here!!! Thanks!!!

praytherosary822 06-18-2004 08:46 AM

Good News!

Thank you everyone for your prayers and support. Know that you are cared about and prayed for daily! This morning my husband and I weighed in. He loss 2.25 pounds and I loss 1.75 pounds. We are very happy about that after having such a hard time. I am going to be late for work! Anyway just thank you and will be in touch tonight. Have A Blessed Day.

JEO1982 06-18-2004 10:13 AM

First off, I must say how cute Jilly's new 'baby' is!!! Jake is quite the adorable furbaby! ;) Make sure to take a peek y'all!

Courtney, I'm glad that things are getting back to at least a semi-normal state... Though I still don't know who gets to decide what is normal...Maybe chaos is just the norm

 Welcome Harlowgirl! I have just a bit of advice for you... Break your weightloss down into smaller goals and DON'T think about the total you want to lose, because that can be overwhelming to anyone...Instead, make 10# lower than your current weight your goal for now, and once you reach it do something nice for yourself that is not food-related... Then repeat the process, in 10# intervals....It is much easier to manage that way! I am almost done with my 3rd 10#!! As far as fast food goes, the convenience makes it very attractive, but you have to think about what you are putting into your body... I still go to fast food places whenever my Tim wants to, the only difference is I get things I know won't kill my calories for the day... At BK, I love their Chicken Caesar with no croutons or dressing even and that is only 190 calories, so there are good options at fast food stores... And the only real way to get started is to decide that this is it and you are going to do something for yourself and start out with some light exercise a few times a week and slowly increase it.... :goodluck: finding something that is right for you! Just remember that we are all here for you!

tardyangel 06-18-2004 12:28 PM

Hello Hello all!

Congrats to you and hubby on the weight loss! Always a good thing to hear :)

As far as having over 100#'s to lose...I feel you...when I started I needed to lose 175#'s to reach my goal weight! OMG! Ugh, as of the last weigh in I have 131 more #'s to lose :(

But I do like Jenn said. I picked a goal easier to obtain...250 #'s is my second goal. Once I get there I'll pick the next one. Much easier to focus on than the "big overwhelming picture". Once I get there, I'm setting 220 as my next because that will mean I lost 100 #'s. The thought of losing 100#'s just thrills me!!!! I said to my doctor how overwhelming the thought of having a whole person to lose was and he said..."Just keep working towards it Angel...where are you going anyway?"

I don't know why, but it suddenly snapped for me that I have no one to blame but myself (and my thyroid). Keep your chin up and look at each day and each few pounds...and know that we all feel the same way...I've found that 10 lbs looks as overwhelming to the person who needs to lose it as the 100 does to me :)

Welcome welcome and I hope you'll find the motivation you need to carry you thru this journey. I know it has really helped me a bunch in the short time I've been here :)

Good day to you all, until we chat again :)

MyChoice2bfit 06-18-2004 01:57 PM

Hi Everyone!

Good afternoon everyone!

I weighed in last night and I stayed the same. I was happy about that because I deserved a gain. I had quite a few cookies at the beginning of last week, but I realized what I was doing and stopped and then worked very hard to try to stay the same. You know it's much more fun to work to lose a pound than try to work at getting something you gained back off. From now on, I'll keep that in mind when I think "I deserve to eat this"...well, I "deserve to reach the goals I'm setting for myself to"..and that's more important to me than food!

I want to welcome Harlowgirl. I think you got great advice on how to get started. Keep coming here and we will all support each other on this trip to ONEderland.

Congrats to PraytheRosary on the weight loss...it's motivating isn't it?!

For those of you that I didn't mention specifically, I just want you to know that your post inspire me and I hope to do the same to you all!

I've got to get back to work. C-ya later!

Susie

JEO1982 06-18-2004 02:57 PM

Yes congratulations are definitely in order for Praytherosary and her DH... great job to both of you! :bravo:

Susie, you deserve to be healthy for yourself too! It's great that You can take the approach of "Nothing tastes as good as being healthy will feel"... Keep being positive!!!

praytherosary822 06-18-2004 10:17 PM

Thanks everyone for the encouragement and congratulations you are all such a blessing to me! Weekends tend to be tricky for us, but hopefully we will be ok. It's Father's Day and I know we will be going eat out, I think we'll be ok as long as it is not buffet. Hopefully I can talk our son into a resturant where we can order from a menu and take some home for left overs, any way have a Blessed Weekend and thanks for being there.

MyChoice2bfit 06-20-2004 09:38 AM

Hi Everyone,
Just checking in. Looks like everyone is off doing something fun! I'm looking forward to having a "down" day myself. I worked half-a-day yesterday and then went to a wedding. I did have some wedding cake, yummy! It's funny, but when you don't eat things like that, that it really tastes good when you do. I think when I used to just sit and stuff myself with desserts and things, I didn't really appreciate how good they do taste, I was just eating, now I enjoy it. Anyone else feel the same way?

Have a wonderful day everyone. I'm planning on going for a walk this evening.

Susie

Hey I'm new here. I'm Lauren. I'm currently weighing in at 196 lbs but would love to get to my goal weight of 168lbs. I'm going off to London on a budget hostel hol. Any ideas how I can get by without pigging out on cheap chocolate and rubbish?

Lauren x
