Will post later

Chubba 04-09-2004 09:55 PM

Welcome Jessi,

This is THE place to be!! I'm Geri, Mom to 2 boys, Will and Tony (almost 3 and 1) and have always battled weight!
Just finished my workout tonight...sure is much easier to do in the morning after just breakfast rather than 3 meals and 2 snacks:) but at least I got it done...now if I can stay out of the animal cookies I will be OK. I colored some eggs tonight and should put the kids baskets together but I'm tired and will go to bed and read. Don't know if I'll get a chance to post tomorrow...sometime Sunday for sure. Hi to all...sorry I didn't get personal!! Have a wonderful OP Saturday.

watkinsguru 04-10-2004 06:41 AM

good morning

Hi Ladies.

I haven't even started on my coffee yet. Everyone must have been busy last night. Not alot going on here. Well, I finished out the day with only 24 points. Plus got in some outside walking for 20 minutes, I walked harder and faster and felt my heartrate increase more than last time. I think that earned me 1 activity pt.

I hope everyone had a great Friday and a great night.

You know it's amazing how good you feel after losing any amount of weight. Knowing the 5 lbs. I lost can't really be seen, you feel so much better and even lighter. That is enough to make you go on and on. You know I was 1 size smaller last year and I still have a couple pairs of shorts so another goal of mine is to be in those shorts by summer. That should be pretty easy only about 15 or 20 lbs. I've even lost 25 lbs. before and I always gain it back, and I was thinking yesterday how much 25 lbs. really is. When I lost it those #'s really didn't seem like that much, but man oh man that's alot.
Well I was just being a chatterbox this morning. I hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday.
P.S. I have a ton of cookbooks but I'm also picky when it comes to sides and veggies, does anyone know of any special cookbooks for sides and veggies? If so let me know. Thanks

Good Morning Ladies!

Michelle,
Atkins made me very sick to my stomach, had a bad headache and the first two to three days I was so tired I couldn't keep my head up. I did much better on South Beach b/c you are aloud some veggies with carbs. Hope you are feeling better today!

Crystal,
I am so excited that you started ww and you are doing well so far! I am still trying to do it. Haven't made it on plan yet :( :( You are doing awesome!~ Congrats!

jessivalentino,
Glad you are back! Which plan are you doing??

Geri,
Are you feeling your workouts? I know when I use to workout every day my body starting getting really structured! When is your TOPS day?

Well,
I am thinking about trying to start weaning Andrew. He is almost 10 months old. I am hoping by 11 months LOL I can have him completely off. He is very attached. I know I am being selfish but I really think it is time to start focusing on me. How selfish is that? Bet Leche Le would think so! LOL But I want to have him off before his first birthday. He doesn't take a bottle or a pacifier so I am hoping it won't be too too hard. He does take a sippy at his meals and takes a sippy with a straw.

I know I am trying to convince myself here! Ok enough rabbling!

Have a great day and a wonderful Easter!!!!!!

Penny :)

Morning Girls

I didn't post much anywhere yesterday, was quite busy. Dh was home, so eating plan didn't go as well as I'd like. But it's a new day, right? Fresh start once again!!

I will start the WW plan on Monday. I just haven't had enough time to get my act together enough to start yet. I think I'll add up my points for whatever I eat today just to see how close I am to doing things the right way.

Crystal, glad you are starting up and doing well.

Jessi, Welcome! You will love it here, I am sure!!

Thanks to all for the WW info and the inspiration. Hope your weekend is wonderful.

Don't let the holidays fool you, we are in control and we can have a Holiday meal without losing that!!! Just focus on your goal and really ask yourself how much you really want what you eat, you'll be surprised how many times the answer to that question will stop you, if you let it.

spryng 04-10-2004 10:03 AM

Good morning all!
Sorry I didn't get back on here last night. I wasn't really busy but I was caught up in the Food Channel. Anyone ever been to the Cheesecake Factory? They did a whole show on it and now I really want to go!!! They have avocado eggrolls there!! Mmmmm....

Cindi, my eating is never that great when my DH is here either... but thankfully he is gone the majority of the time so I don't have that to worry about. What is it that makes them able to get us to eat things we shouldn't??
Penny, I don't think you are selfish to want to wean your son. Most women wean by 6 months old so you have done great!!!! Do you have to wean him to a bottle since he's not suppose to have milk until a year old? How does that work for nursing babies? Tanner is just now getting a sippy cup every now and then... he doesn't drink very well from it because he uses those playtex disposible bottle with the liners and he doesn't have to hold it up to drink it. In fact he mostly lets it hang out of his mouth without even touching it while he drinks. It's funny sometimes. So it's hard to get the concept of holding the cup UP so that the juice flows down to him. But that is ok, my other two were like that too and they did fine after a couple months.
Crystal, sounds like you did great on your first day!!!! Don't knock losing that 5 #'s. Hold a bag of sugar and you'll see how much you lost. You may not be able to see that loss yet but your organs are thanking you. I watched an Oprah show one time and it had real body parts on it, and one was a heart and liver and how obesity affects them... they get so much fat around them it's nasty! So she was saying that we all try to get the fat off of the outside so we look better but it's the fat inside us we really need to get off because that is what is killing us. It made it more real to me. So you have done just that. :) What kinds of veggies do you like?? I'm not too picky on my side dishes. I do like to make red beans and rice (zatarains) because it's very filling and very low in pts. Brown rice is good and filling, it was a taste I had to aquire though. And then of course I make tons of veggies. Spaghetti squash is good too. You can go to weightwatchers.com and hit community and under that you will see community recipe swap and there is tons of free recipes and you can search side dishes. HTH.
Geri, what book are you reading? I hope you got all rested up.
Michelle, being tired the first few days or even the first week is normal on atkins... if youstay tired after 3 or 4 days then it is probably because the weight is coming off fast and that can make you tired, so I always took it as a good sign. :) How many carbs are you averaging each day?
Ginny, if the pm isn't working just email me!! :) Hope your weekend slow down for you a bit. What do you do for your older kids for easter? Do they get baskets still?

Well my crockpot chicken was ok. Not something I'd make again. Ava ate all of her chicken but my ds wouldn't touch his. I'll post the recipe on Moms losing weight. If anyone is interested. Yes, maybe browning it first on both sides would have helped but I used frozen chicken so I couldn't try that. Well, TOM has finally arrived this morning!!!! Thank goodness... now my WI will be normal and accurate and PMS will go away. It wasn't too bad this time around thankfully. Last month it was really bad. But enough about that. :)
Today I plan on cleaning a little. The kids are already playing the gamecube so they will be occupied most of the morning. It's still dreary and rainy here so no outside activities today. I did buy some potting soil and plan to replant some plants but I left it in the van and I don't want to get wet so I guess it won't be today. And our blue beta died last night :( Guess I'll have to get another one soon. But the kids named the red one Flame. It's doing good.
Ok, guess I'll get off here and start my day. TTYL!

MichelleRae 04-10-2004 10:21 AM

Good Morning Ladies!!

Spryng - sorry to hear your chicken didn't turn out as well as planned I always liked chicken and vegetables in the pressure cooker it comes out a bit better I think :D. Also sorry to hear about your new fish usually when they die the first day home it means the store wasnt taking good care of them :( I used to have a bunch of fish. Oh and OMG the cheesecake factory is awesome!!! I used to live in Massachussetts and used to go to the cheesecake factory at least once a month!! of course thats when I didnt have any extra weight on my body lol.

Cindi- Im lucky I stay on plan while DH is around lol he's doing atkins with me and its kinda neat that it's kinda become a little competition between us!! Healthy competition that is lol. And good luck on WW Im sure you will do great!

Crystal - Sounds like your doing great! I have Master Cook 7.0 its a recipe program for the computer and it has lots of side dish recipes I reccommend picking it up I think I paid 20-25 bucks for it wonderful recipes!!

Well i need to get some breakfast eggsss....AGAIN!!!
Take Care

need2losemore 04-10-2004 10:58 AM

Good morning. It's rainy here, so I don't know what we will do today. Spryng, if you kept the receipt to the fish, and it died within 24 hours of you bringing it home, they should replace it for free. You have to take the fish back with you, though. Hope everyone has a great day.

Chubba 04-10-2004 12:20 PM

Good morning all :coffee:

Got the 3 mi walk in again...sure was easier this morning than it was last night.

Spryng, the book is "From Chunk to Hunk" that I told you about the other day. He finally had some normal human sugar cravings...I was beginning to think this guy was some kind of freak! He lost 70 pounds in the first 5 months or so and hadn't eaten any processed sugar and I was wondering just how the heck he didn't have any cravings since he used to eat a lot of sugar. Haven't you made other crockpot chicken things? Did the texture of the chicken turn out differently?

Hi Ricci, how are things going?

Michele...sure helps when Dh is OP. Mine doesn't complain about what I cook and if he doesn't want what I make he knows that I don't mind if he cooks what he wants. I won't cook separate meals though.

Penny, I have a long way to go to structured  but moving is easier every day!! I used to have a hard time sitting on the floor with the kids. One of my hip joints was very stiff and it was very tough to get up off the floor. I'm 40 yo and felt like I was 60! In that respect I feel 110% better. I will have to start doing more toning/weight exercises but I'd like to get under 200 first. The aerobics everyday will help with that and the WATP series is easy on my old frame :D

Crystal...think of 25 lbs of ground beef!! Amazing! And the 5 lb bag of sugar too or 5 lbs of butter! I was down last week about staying the same and you know, I've already lost 16 lbs and that's nothing to get down on myself about! I'm almost ready to go down a size in jeans. I'm so proud of that!! It gets tough sometimes but that's what this group will do for you...lift you up when you're down....AWWWWWWWWWW I love you ladies :^:

Well, I had better go hit the shower. This afternoon I'm going to a Partylite home party (candles and candleholders) at Dh's niece's. Then tonight is date night  We're going to the restaurant we went to on our first date. We usually have prime rib but I will look for something much healthier on the menu :p even though I LOVE prime rib!! Then we'll head to the casino for a little while and watch the lunatics put tons of money into the slots while we spend like $20. Then we're getting a room for the night! The boys are young enough not to know that the Easter bunny didn't get here first thing in the morning and my Mom's going to stay over with them. We'll be home early tomorrow anyway. We haven't been alone together since the boys were born so it's about time!! Our 4th anniversary is next month but we'll celebrate tonight. So, this is it for me today. I'll check back with you tomorrow some time.

I hope everyone has an OP Easter Sunday...try to resist the candy!! I didn't buy much as the boys are young but I will allow myself 1 Recess PB egg...I may wait until after WI Monday night to eat it though!

Hi to everyone else out there

MichelleRae 04-10-2004 02:28 PM

ECmom 04-10-2004 02:43 PM

Man, once again, with a drive by visit, there is no way to get personal. So, Michele, Crystal, Geri, Penny, Spryng, Ricci,Jesse, Cindy.....and anyone else I missed Hi!! Hope your weekend is going well, and try to stick with portion control if you are going to venture out into the land of chocolate.......See ya.
Ginny

spryng 04-10-2004 06:25 PM

Good evening all!
Ginny, glad you got a chance to say hello! I know life will settle down for everyone after this weekend.
Michelle, you WILL be strong tomorrow!! I know you can do it!! Remember that it is only one day and will be gone before you know it. I like those low carb tortillas too because they are only 1 pt and high in fiber.
Geri, yes I had made other chicken meals in the crockpot, I like the texture of it fine but the pineapple was very overwhelming I guess. A little too sweet for me for dinner. I hope you have a wonderful evening with your DH and I'd count that as intentional exercise :o LOL! I hope you win big!! (at the casino)
Ricci, I do have the reciept but the walmart isn't one I normally shop at and my local one doesn't carry the fish. But they were only a couple bucks so it won't be a bid deal to get another one. What have you done all day since it won't quit raining??
Well, my afgan is coming along nicely but it wears my hands out after a while. I'm taking a break, lol. I decided to use a few flexpoints tonight and ordered pizza. I had two slices and was full but it hit the spot, and I didn't have to cook, lol. I burned this morning while tanning, now I'm sore and itchy, lol. I moved up two more minutes but I guess my skin wasn't ready for it. I'm sure it will be gone by tomorrow but I won't tan again until monday just to be safe. I'm just slightly red. Well, guess I'll get off here and do some more of nothing, that hard work you know! lol. TTYL!

jessivalentino 04-10-2004 07:20 PM

Quickie

:coffee: Well, I'm crazy busy this week-end, so I'm sorry I don't have time to respond to everyone's posts personally, but I hope we all can do alright with the holiday this week-end. I know a couple of you asked about the plan I'm using, I'm going to losely follow weight watchers. I'm not an actual WW member, but I have enough info on it that I can follow the point system, I did it right after I had the baby with some success.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!!

Let's hope the chocolate devil doesn't sabatoge anyone

watkinsguru 04-10-2004 09:50 PM

Good Evening

Well, everyone's been busy today but managed to get the posts in. Nice to read through them. I've done great. I made cheese filled manicotti from one of my WW cookbooks. I thought it was great. I have trouble figuring out how much is an actual serving. I think I may have had a little more than an actual serving, but that was because I did NOT eat any garlic bread. I think I'm at about 25 points which gives me one, I'll have an orange later. Otherwise, I've been having alot of fun doing it. Me and Andrew went grocery shopping after I made a menu and shopping list. My dh brought home 2 dogs, they are suppose to be full blooded labs, but I'm not so sure. Here in Texas, we've had almost 80 degree days and today it got down to like in the 50's so I did not go out and exercise. I'll try to get something in tomorrow. I feel confident about tomorrow. I know what my families are making so I'm sort of planning ahead to know. I will have dessert, come on, it's cheese cake.

Penny - thank you so much for your pm. Your support is incredible. Makes it all worth while.

Cindi - great Easter advice and I think you'll do fine on WW.

Spryng - sorry your crockpot chicken wasn't that hot. It doesn't sound good to me. Glad your afghan is working out, I wish I could do that.

Geri - hope you and dh have an incredible time. How old are your sons? We haven't been out in forever I think. We did get to go see The Passion, that was a quick trip there and back. A night of fun like your talking about, I don't know. We went to Vegas when I was about 4 months pregnant with my second child. Ally's almost 3 so that's how long that's been.

Michelle - You're doing good on Atkins. They've come out with so much stuff, food wise, your choices are tremendous. When I did it, they didn't have all that.

Well, girls. I've got to get my kids Easter baskets filled. Working on a Jelly Bean Prayer thingee for family. Have a wonderful Easter. And do good.
