Lo Carb #52 Let's get buckled in !
Well girls the weekend is almost over
I am headed to Utica to help my sister move. The movers she hired to help her are stuck in another state and won't be here to help her. I can honestly say that she is probably more stressed that I am. worked on my schooling yesterday. Only 15 weeks of that left. I am glad I didn't put it off to summer. Got most of my water in yesterday. That's pretty good for me on a weekend. DH says walking on teh treadmill is ****. LOL. Monday is another day to ride the bus! |

Hubby throws rocks at regular fried chicken now he only wants it the Atkins legal way! Pretty remarkable for a junk food freak! By the way if you put the pecans in a zip lock bag and run the rollling pin over it for a couple of minutes to make the pieces small the crunch is wonderful. The one thing I have to getback on track with is my water. Yesterday: breakfast: western style omelet with two pieces of 7 carb bread a little butter and coffee with heavy cream lunch: three strips of legal fried chicken , legal fried cabbage (oh so good) and a diet soda Dinner an 11 carb wrap from Subway, a diet soda and some left over collard greens Snack: Pork rinds with legal clam dip , celestial seasonings apple and cinnamon spice tea ( a pot) LEGAL CLAM DIP 3 oz of cream cheese 1/3 of a cup small curd cottage cheese 1 can of chopped clams 1 tablespoon of sour cream Bon Appetite spice about 1/4 teaspoon and just a touch of lemon or lime mix well and enjoy! Bunna, the worst mistake I made in the past is not eating enough not getting the calories, old habits die hard, I am not making that mistake this time because you lose alot of weight fast and then it stalls for weeks at a time sometimes months! You all remember , I lived on plain tuna for months. Before all this wild bouncing of weight going on I was losing 8- 11 pounds a weeks eating quite well as you can see and no stalling every couple of weeks. I lived on so few calories like 600 to 800 a day that I had a plateau every whip stitch and they lasted for ever though I never cheated. Finally The only thing that would break it was no eating at all. It works so well of you follow it properly. The longer you stay on plan the easier it becomes until finally you don't crave carbs to often at lall but a word to the wise do hear what Doctor Phil says and find your personal triggers so often it is the emotional triggers that causes you to fall off. I am still working on changing my responses to my keys. Well at the moment I am back on Diamox for the pseudo tumor and the lighting is forming in my eyes as I type this so I have to leave for soon I shall not be able to see but I shall return. Thank God I had such a long standing pass to this bus. I am on board and strapped in again!!!! LOve you Pam |

The basis of it is that I am sick again and that makes it really hard for me to eat OP cuz I don't want to eat at all anyway. Dh is making me some chicken soup to work on. My weight is just staying the same. I bought some Carb Options teriyaki sauce and cheese sauce to try. Someone on one of the other boards said it is really good. Gonna throw some chicken in the oven with the teriyaki for the guys and some vegis. Keep it simple. In the restaurant business we have a saying KISS "Keep it Simple Stupid" and that is how I am keeping it being sick. Pat: Good luck on the move, I bet your sister is stressed. It is bad enough having to move without all those extra hitches. Pam: I have not had chicken fried with pecans but it sounds absolutely wonderful. One of my chef's used to make hazelnut salmon for me, also wonderful. I did try your custard the other day with the peach and it is good, am looking forward to trying it with coconut though too. Hey Bunna Sorry that you are sick again. The move was as good as it can get in winter. The kids were good, and I can hardly move this morning. Reality check is how out of shape I am. A few stairs and my face was red and I was puffing! Boy that carb options is even here. Let us know how it is. I always hate buying stuff onlt to through it away.

OK Now I am really MAD!!!
I just posted a hute post then got distracted and lost the whole thing!!! I was telling you all how good I was this weekend and passed on Pizza. and even started to exercise even thiugh it was just for a few minutes. but well it went on and on and on. and then I lost the whole thing!!! but I am here now and I will not post and lose it again ,ike that. I used up most of my time so I wiill just say hi and let you all know that I am here for you. Bunna get better!!! Pam that chicken sounds just great and good for DH wanting only the legal way. Pam glad you were there for your sister. that can certianly be stressful and Dana glad you are here!!! I keep watching for you. even if you pop in and send a wave every few days I am not going to let you get lost again!!! |
Hey ladies! I am REALLY happy today cause i have lost 150 lbs ! I started at the end of january last year and in just a few days over a year i have lost 150 lbs. If anyone had ever told me that i would be saying that i would have told them they were on drugs. I only have 20 more lbs to go and i will officially be just over weight no longer obese or morbidly obese!!!

That is so awesome. I know you don't know us well. But maybe sometime you could share what clicked for you and how you kept motivated. I know you are visibly a new person but did the insde change too? It is stories like yours that help me when the negative voices kick in. Like this morning I was already wrestling with whether or not to work out. ANd now I will work out! Hey Sue Working out huh?? Way to go! Congrats on saying no to pizza! I am staring my state reveiw in the face . My lic. expires 3/31. They went to another site and creamed them. How are the kids? and DH? Yesterday I realized after rededicating myself to teh fight 1 month ago, the scale is still teh same. My clothes fit better. So I know something is happening. Pat my mom and i made our own plan but it mostly follows similar to south beach diet and it has worked really well for us and the only thing that is completely off limits except special treats it sugar!
I dont eat white bread,pasta or potatos if it can be helped(if i am eating at someones house i have no choice!) And i usually keep my calories between 1200-1600 a day. Which i am finding alot easier to do without all the sweets :) and high carb foods. I have to be very careful not to go less than 1200 calories or my weightloss will stall or slow down. You are doing great and you will always feel better if you push yourself and do the exercise. |
Geez, this is getting old. Not being able to get on the internet.
I went back to the doc this morning and he said I have a bad sinus infection still. Changed the nose spray and antibiotic. Told me to call in one week if I am not better. I don't know if I am gaining weight because of the steriod nose spray or the meds or what but my weight is ballooning and I don't know why. It has to be water though as I know I did not eat enough to gain 8 lbs overnight. Gonna have to start counting calories and making extra sure I am getting my water down. :dizzy: Julie: How great that you have lost 150 lbs. That is awesome. Motivating for all of us. Sue: Way to go with the pizza and exercise. Pat: Glad the move is over. Sorry to hear that you are sore from it. Julie WOW!!!! That is so fantastic. I would love to see some before and after pictures. You are really a great motication. I think that if you follow your own plan and tweak it a bit you are happier than if you are very strict with what people tell you then you are likely to fall off the plan. great going. I too follow and do no potatoes breads or pastas. (except my small piece at breakfast.) i watch how much carbs i take in by eliminating most of it with those limitations. I have not been watchingmy calories just yet but that will be next. I am going to be getting ready to do BFL. I did it before and lvoed it. I just need to get my mind set to do it again. But I think that I will be ready with your motivation. Pat I knowyou can do it!1 you did so great before but STOP LOOKING AT THE SCALE!!!! you know better (as I shamefully jump on daily) especially if your clothes are fitting better. you know you are gaining muscle and losing fat!! and the scale will stay the same or even if you work extra hard it may just go up a bit!! but look at the clothes!!! Julie thank you for sharing with us here. It is very motivating. I hope that as you get to know and trust us you'll share more. I did the Pilates tape yesterday. ANd am proud to say that I am more "fluid" than jerky LOL. The bike today. Bunna, computers are great when they work and suck when they don't. Sinus infections can be the devil to get rid of. Fought one last year like ****. This year have been better. Take care. Sue I was just thinking teh other day about BFL and you. SOmething on TV. As much as I hate to do this. The exercise for me is teh last peice of the puzzle to get back on tract. Hey Pam, Kina, Dana Check in ladies the bus is quiet! Lurkers are welcome. We are a friendly bunch. Thought to consider: Mindless eating. The eating you do when you go by someones candy dish, or the break room, or at home while you are cooking dinner. Or eating/finishing something that if you were honest really doesn't taste that good. For example. I made forbidden instant mashed potos for dinner and forgot to salt and pepper them before serving. Well can you say bland? But I am putting them in my mouth and luckly My mind says they taste bad and you really are satisfied. And I stopped and threw thenm away. But it had to be a very concous thing/conversation with myself! Share your thoughts! |

Pat i do the same thing alot! I just have to tell myself its ok to throw something away or put it away for later instead of eating it all in one helping. Great job on the pilates i need to start doing mine again, I got off track when i had my gallbladder removed and couldnt do it for 8 weeks. It really made my body feel long and lean.

The scale is such a poor indicator of how we are really doing on this WOL and yet we all depend on it like some kind of idol or something. :devil: Mindless eating, who does mindless eating? :?: Would that include eating that hug bucket of popcorn at the movies when any other time that amount would make us sick? :corn: I love the stuff so have to totally avoid it. Well, girls taking my meds and off to bedrest again. Will check in later if the server is working properly. They could have had that virus it isn't like they would let us know. :mad: |

I did not have a great day. we went to a conference to day and I had KFC (which by the way came back at me) extra crispy only 2 pieces. and they bought a 2l bottle of soda and it was nto diet so I had only 1/2 glass. not to bad but it still did not sit well with me. no exercise today as i had to be at work at 6 am and that is not enough time to get much done. I am tired. I still did not eat any dinner yet so I am still not right. hopefully tomorow I will feel better. Hey my swim team has a motto: You get what you work for, not what you wish for! Julie you certainly have worked for your wonderful shape!!! Bunna you mean that scale is not telling me the truth?? ;) Pat I really have not ever gave up on BFL but it sure is looking more andmore tempting!! I know it wi=orks and that I enjoued it. well phone is calling me. catch you girls later I am going to get that phone and then get to bed. |

Thanks gals! My mom is doing great she has lost about 85+/- lbs and would like to lose another 15 lbs or so. Her diabetis is now undercontrol with no meds and the problems she had with her knee dont bother her nearly as much as they used to. I plan on adding some pics of her to my webpage when she sends me a new one to use.

I am beginning again today as I managed to gain all my weight back plus one pound being sick. Now how does that happen when you don't eat much? :mad:
I also slept a little later than I intended so off to work I go pretty soon. Will check in tonight when I get home. Feeling a little better with the new meds. :) |
Might just be water weight bunna. Wait a week and see what the scale says. When i had my gall bladder out i gained 10 lbs from that morning to that evening in fluids and it didnt go away for a week. And people tend to eat high carbs and high salt when they are sick which can contribute to water retention.

Well had an OK day until DH brought home a food gift! Did I say "Oh no dear, but thanks for asking?" Well no. And when did I not meet a carb that I didn't like? Soemone he helped brought him a box of those cream filled puff things. I hope the fat content curbed the insulin spike! Well anyway. I agree with Sue's swim team motto, I can and have been wishing the #'s away but I need to put some muscle behind it. ANd the proof is in Julie's pudding! WOrk has me almost to the point of throwing in the towel! I was listening to a Old Bob segar song last weekend when he talks about meeting a girl in the bar "and they drove out of sight" Well I'll tell you it sounds pretty good. But today is Friday I guess I'll crawl in. Hate the unpleasent stuff at work, really make it worse by worrying it. Hi girls!!n I just had a very sad day today!!! I can not talk aobut it but my heart is hurt.
I did not let that cause any problems so far but I was so tempted to go and eat like a hog at McD's but i had a chicken salad. MMMMMMM Pat I too like the motto so I am going to change my by line. I have to drive to fulton in the morning for a swim meet then have much to do at home. Tax time on sunday. and then Oh gosh tons of things. I had a good day yesterday but again I had a salad for dinner. the salt is way too much but it was either that or a burger with bun and a huge pile of frenchfries. the boys did great with swimming. I was so happy with them. matt actually came in first in one of his races. Ben too! Tax day today so I hope good news is on the way. If not I am not sure what I will do!!! We have been needed a new roof for quite a while now and the water has been leaking down the cealing for a few years when the snow starts to build up. NOT GOOD!!! then the house is so badly in need of a paint job. I do notwant siding as I am afraid that it will look bad. I have seen too many not look good. but it would help to insulate the house more. DH feels that this house is insulated but I know it is not. It can not be i can not keep any heat in it and i spen average 150 a month just for the heating bill!!! that is on a budget. which is almost 3 times as much as anyone else!!! Yea I knnow it is an old house but there is ways to insulate. Well I am going to get off my soap box. I just geet going on this subject!! So girls i am talking ot my self here so where are you???? |

Well Sue I am sorry that you had a bad thing happen hope you are OK. Great on teh eating. Congrats for your children's swim meet. We too are in nned of a roof. We knew that whe we bought the house last year. No leaks yet, Knock on wood. Tax day for us too. Although I had kinda forgot until I read your post. Not putting the effort behind the weight thing. Still can't maintain focus. Worked 6 hours on college yesterday. Wasn't able to get in any reading time last week and paid for it yesterday. But on the bright side I haven't gained any weight and my clothes are fitting better. I also have great people here thta support and encourage me! You OPGoddess Have a great weekend. I too am hoping that Uncle Sam will help with the cost of a roof Alright now where are the rest of you? The bus is quiet |
Sorry ladies i have been MIA for a few days as i was having too much fun! Friday i spent the night at my moms house and saterday i spent the day with my sister riding snowmachine and then we went to a dinner and dance and i danced sooooo much! I hope everyone is doing well and having a good day.

Hey Bunna How are you feeling? I hope you are over that thing! Spent time yesterday cutting exercise out of the magazines like shape. Since we moved a year ago, I havn't been very organized up there. I had a great routine going then it got shuffled. But I am starting again. Well did the taxes, moved the file cabinet. Got a couple of things off my to do list. Eating ?? Well I guess instant gratification was more importanty that wearing those clothes that don't fit. HMMM... Must break this down to day by day. I did do somethings a little out of the ordinarylike not be so focused on what I had to get done this weekend. Let myself relax a little. That is unusual for me. DH was home on SUnday which can be a pain, but I did OK. Hey everyone else how goes it? |
I have been good this week and have eaten well with the exception of saterday. There wasnt a whole lot of choices where i was so i just tried to use moderation and did alot of dancing! I hope everyone elses weekends were good!

This gets harder and harder for me. I told my mom I was so frustrated that I just wanted to quit dieting of any kind and just eat plain old regular food. :?: She encouraged me to do just that but in reality I know better because my hunger for sweets and carbs has no end and there is no such thing as moderation when it comes to those foods. :devil: :mad: :devil:
I missed so much being gone but it sounds like most of us are struggling. :s: By the way, I am starting to feel better. Thank God for that for sure. :angel: watching over me. I need to dance two or three nights away without eating anything in between dances. Worked all weekend but am watching movies tonight. Under the Tuscan Sun and Secondhand Lions. Looking forward to both. We are in the process of matching wine and food for a big event in March. That requires tasting and cooking, tasting and cooking, tasting and cooking, well I guess you get my point. I am going to have to really watch myself cuz I love good wine and food pairings. :goodvibes: I am going back to the gym tomorrow. Tried today but still not really up to it and then I got sidetracked. :cb: :strong: :cheer: |
Bunna hold on!!! Think of the possibilities that can come from success! Change also takes time and attention. And it is hard to pay attention when you are ill. Just plan and focus on today. What is it that you do? danceing at night?

I had an OP day yesterday. Carb detoxing again. What a rollercoaster. Of my own making. But worth the time. Morning ladies!!! How is everyone? I am having a long and tiring week. My furnace was acting up and had the repair man come to check it out and found out it has a crack and it will have to be replaced so they are supposed to come take care of that today or tommorow. Sunday i am planning a mini vacation and going to spend the night in a hotel and have dinner out and go shopping in NH. Hubby has to go down for a meeting so we decided to make it a family thing.
Bunna- I hope things are going better now they are so definatly worth the effort. It does get easier I dont know how strict low carbs you are doing but i have gotten more creative in my cooking since going low carb. Fralick-The detoxing is the worst i think. Once they are out of my system i am not bothered by them as much. Where is everyone else??? |
Pat, the detoxing definitely stinks and like you it is a monster of my own making. Therein lies my problem right now I don't want to fight getting through the detox again and yet I don't want to weigh what I weigh. I am so happy for you getting through yesterday OP. :cheers:
Julie, have a great time in NH. Glad the furnace could be resolved quickly. Were you without heat :yikes: at all or just wasn't working very good. I know you probably said that already but I have been off for a few days. :o I did my Tuesday housecleaning last night so I could do whatever I wanted today. Going to catch up on some Bible study :comp: and watch the rest of Secondhand Lions, then go to the gym :tread: come home, and relax the rest of the day. Sounds fun huh? I am also going to get myself ready so I can get going with the lc again and just jump in and detox myself. :rollpin: It is gonna be hard to give up the OJ I have been living on for three weeks. :cry: :cry: :cry: We need help keeping this bus going guys, where are you all? :mag: |
Bunna our furnace kept shutting off so we would wake up without heat or come home to a cold house. We would have to restart it manually. They will be here tommorow to put the new one in.
Someone was telling me they are comming out with low carb orange juice....how i dont know but they came out with low carb milk and it tastes like milk so they probably can do it. Everyone else come out, come out, where ever you are!! |

I am haning in there wiht the diet. Bunna post some of your meals you could be eating some thing that would trigger a craving. it takes a bit or practice to find your triggers and what you can eat. Pat taxes will not do much for me I am just about breaking even. with no extra for fun or paying bills. I jumped a tax bracket. EEEWWWW Well I need to get things going here I just got home and have tons of things to get done. SSSOOOO Hope all is well with all of you!! PPSSSTTT DANA??? Do I have to break outyour email???? |

I managed to have problems with a boken furnace I know how you feel we were cramed in to 2 rooms wiht small space heaters in each!!! No fun and then the last thing you need is that for a repair bill. we have been good ever since. Now I have found low carb yorgurt! it is small and just enough to give you a great taste!!1 it is from dannon, and the only flavor i found was vanilla sweetened with nutrasweet. but no hope on the OJ!!! :lol: |
That's okay on the oj as I was only drinking cuz of being sick but it sure is strong for craving other sugars. I just have to get my attitude in the right place Sue. I know I am eating things that are causing cravings it is just a matter of giving them up. Part of the problem for me is that my dil keeps making all these desserts and shoving them under my nose, most of the time I refuse them but if I am feeling vulnerable at the time :dizzy:
I feel like such a failure when it comes to losing weight as I have tried so many times in the past and I just give up on myself. Ummmm maybe that's what I need to work on is that I am worth the effort huh? :yes: Forgot to answer the question about dancing. I was referring to someone elses post that was talking about dancing. We own an Italian restaurant and have music occasionally but I am usually working so no dancing for me. :stress: :stress: :stress: |
Okay, guys I have been doing some thinking about my weight and my total lack of self-control on my eating. My goal is to be down to 200 by my birthday which gives me 28 weeks plus three days to lose 65 lbs. This would be 2.32 lbs. per week. I am definitely going to need your help and your support. Time to get off my a** and run up and down the isles of this bus instead of sitting and looking out the window wondering why other people can eat things I can't. Time to be happy for what I have and stop thinking about what I cannot have. Sugar is like a drug to me and I have to face the addiction that I have to it and stop putting it in my mouth hoping the outcome will be different this time. :crazy: It never is!
Thanks for letting me vent. I am off to bed as I have a dentist appointment early in the morning. Yuck, double yuck. :p |
Oh my gosh bunna you own an italiuan restaurant??? My gosh what a place of temptation. For me anyway. DH and I used to live on pasta. Not sure if you are a Dr. Phil fan. But you might want to pick up his book on weight loss. I am about 1/2 way through it. It is taking me some time because he deals in reality and I am slow to "wake Up". For me it's about planning and then the commitment to keep with my plan. Bunna you are not a failure! You might want to start your day with some exercise and a protein breakfast. Also ask your DIL to ask someone else to sample her desserts, before they are in front of you. Remember you are not a failiure we are all on teh bus together! And we can do it! Lets remeber Julie who is well on her way to her goal. So this can be done!
Julie I too am experiencing furnace problems unfortunately had teh repairmen fix it went through the budget and it still has teh origanal problem. Very frustrating. Sorry about the expence of replacing it! Glad no one was hurt. And enjoy your Mini vacation!!A little romance?? Kids w/ the sitter??? Sue you are again teh OPGoddess ( well with Julie) Exercising too?? Way to go!!! I know we get Dana and Pma and Kina back and I think they got off the bus. Shoulda used the duct tape! Well breaking even is btter than paying in! but it is kinda disappointing. Well I had another food OP day again. Water could have been better. seem to have more energy. SO if I can stay committed It should be comming together. |
Good morning ladies! My mini vacation most likely will not happen now. Hubbys meeting got moved and Mom had a bad gallbladder attack last night and is now going to have surgery sometime in the next 3 weeks. But oh well i can think of other places the money can go.....
Bunna i would go crazy owning an italian resteraunt and being on a low carb diet! Pasta was one of my all time favorite foods and its still a trigger food for me. Every year on my birthday i would get to choose what i wanted for dinner and it was always the same. Spagetti with a hearty meat sauce and garlic bread. I have no idea what i am going to have this year since hubby is planning on taking me somewhere i dont that is a surprise for my birthday which is tommorow! I dont know if those plans are still in effect cause i think my mom was going to watch the kids and the pain she has been in she might not be able to. Pat what is your furnace doing? We have a program here called community action that is helping to pay for the new furnace thank God cause we are on a tight income as it is. Nasus there is a new low carb yogurt here too but i got it in rasberry creme and they had strawberry too. |
