Just thought it was a good time to begin a new thread - hope that is okay with you all ;)
It is snowing like crazy here again this morning! Wonder if it will ever stop...

*******

Hey there GARY, (aka - coach :coach: ) I didn't work on my elliptical yesterday - I really felt like I needed a rest. I was really tired... so I will workout today. Did you get in a workout yesterday? We never heard from you? Hope you aren't over taxing yourself with that hernia and all.

HI there SUE! Thanks! If it weren't for GARY - don't know that I would be trying so hard. I always wanted a coach ;)

I'm so happy that you have made room for me & that I can join you all too! Even if it's by thread reality (you know... like vertual reality) I bet you are so excited about going!!!

Yeah, I thought that the link of the Jesus Story was really neat ~ glad you liked it too :)

SAMI, It was sooooo good to hear from you, but I am so sorry that you are still not feeling well. Boy-o-boy, will you reap some rewards in heaven with all that you have suffered here on earth! Hope that you have some good days again soon! You are very "welcome" in posting your Wedding Pics... it was great seeing them! And you!!

*******

Shouting out  "Hello's" to MICHELE, Hope all is going well for you!? Miss seeing you!! ANGEL, SPROUT, WILMA, GARNET, CHRISTIAN & JUDY!

wilma12 01-29-2004 08:44 AM

It's Freezing out here!

This morning I woke up to -40C weather. The norm is between -15 - -20. Nothing wants to work. School buses aren't running. DS had to stand at a bus stop for a few minutes this a.m. Glad he was dressed well. Our car wouldn't start yesterday so DH took my van and I'm getting a ride to work. We are hardy folk up here but this is ridiculous. I could really use the warmth. Sunshine we have but it's not very warm.

I've been doing really well with my evening snacking. None last night. I bought oranges and grapefruit. They're amazing this time of year so if I feel like snacking I have one of those. I hope to report a weight loss as well as inches lost at the end of February.

Have a great day!

Morning WILMA, I saw Canada on the Weather Channel! What is -40C in F?? I am afraid I don't have a clue... but I do know you are realllllly cold there! Maine (my family lives there) is getting some of those cold temps too! You can keep it!!! The 10* :o we are experiencing here is cold enough for me!!! The ice on our jeep was over an inch thick! Took almost an hour of running the car to get it down. It went down to -3 or 4 last night. And we are still getting tons of snow... the skiers, snow-boarder's & children are loving it (no school!)

Evening snacking is my biggest struggle too! I wish you well WILMA!! Have a great day!

Mitchypoo 01-29-2004 09:46 AM

Can you say BBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Dang, it's cold here too! It's -29 F with the windchill. No really new snow but the road's are icy. Lot's of accidents this a.m. I had no trouble getting to work though. I was curious too what -40 C works out to in F....

I have a lunch date today w/Charlie! He calls or emails during the day, calls at night. He's very sweet and attentive. I told him about my portable phone acting up, he asked me to write down the battery and he'll get me one, and if that doesn't work, he'll get me a new one. I'm like......WHAT? A guy who would take care of those little things that bug me? I could stand being treated like this! He also invited me to a recognition dinner tonight at Bucca's for Boy Scouts. I want to find out more, see if his son will be there, etc. Maybe too soon, but maybe I should go and see him around others too. I think i look cute today in my long black skirt w/black legging and boots and my pink sweater! ;) I feel happy and confident anyway and I'm glad of that.

You all are doing wonderful, keep warm!

Suunny~I just remembered, my computer at home is acting up, haven't been doing the devotion, sorry...

Good

Oh thank you all for the prayers. ( EZ ) DD is a Christian if it wasn't for her going to church with neighbors I wouldn't be. She is doing much better now. The shock has worn off and the business of job hunting is at hand. So please continue to pray.

Ok I have taken notes so, here goes:

WILMA: it is sooo cold up there you are welcome to visit here in Napa. It's a chilly 60 here today

EZ: first off do take care of the hernia, it can lead to other complications if you dont. You sound like a great uncle, and dad. I will remember to pray for your Pastor in training

ANGEL-LOVER: I love being a gramma I am close to mine and we get to do lots of things together. I have never lived where it gets that cold brrr.

MICHELE: I will keep you in my prayers. Are your friend's Christian? That's always a good place to start.

SPROUT: I see you are a faithful walker. That is so good. Keep it up. Does Dr. Phil recommend cutting the starches? That is a good idea I have learned I can do without potatoes. But I do enjoy bread so look for the lower Carb styles. You don't like whole wheat??

SUNNY D: Makes me think of the drink LOL. Does you hubby do long haul driving? I am glad he chose to wait out the worst of the weather that ice is the worst I think except for blinding snow. I lived in WA state for 17 years and drove school bus for 11 so I have seen some of both. We were close to the coast so it was never as severe as you allare having right now.

SUE: so you are coming west to go to Alaska?? You know, all the years I lived in WA I never made it to Alaska. I hear its beautiful.

SAMI: You are so right about big lay offs. DD (Shawna) and I were talking about that. At least she isn't with several hundred other people with the same experience and qualifications out there looking for a job. She has had several calls from parents of her students saying they would give her letters of recommendation any time.

I have been doing ok on woe I am slowly losing still looking to get below 220's for now.

Blessings to all,
Nasha

Hey there GARNET, Good job keeping up! :cp: I took notes too (& still do once in awhile) when I first began and have given each of you your own colors (as you can see... your's is NAVY  ). Yes, you are right 'bout my name ;) SunnyD is the name of an orange juice drink, but I selceted Sunny (for my disposition) & D (Initial of my first name Donna) 57 (the year I was born - a very good year I might add... I love the 50's ;) ) I am a huge fan of the vintage years ~ 30's, 40's & 50's, Big Band Music & Fifties Music.

My hubby, Joe, works for a grocery store chain "TOPS". He works in Bakery Maintaince for ~ALL~ the stores in OHIO. So he drives all over the state, driving a very large van. He can get in anywhere from 800 - 1,000 miles a week in driving. So sometimes I get pretty concerned when he leaves the house - I rely on my prayers and faith that the Lord will bring him home to me when he walks out the door in the morning. Thank goodness for cell-phones! We call one another at least 2 - 3 x a day... staying in touch and making sure each is having a good, safe day. He's all I have... well, other then my boys - 3 kitties - Domino (8 yrs old), & brother's, Guido & Zeppe (1 3/4 yrs old). Joe & I couldn't have children, but are involved in youth ministries & our church. We both sing in a small group called "Gift of Song". And have been married 28 yrs, June 21st will be 29 years for us :) So that's about it about us... (sorry everyone for boring you with info you have read before :^: )

How many Children & Grandchildren do you have? And how old are the G-kids? I bet they bring you allot of Joy! How long have you been married? Hope you don't mind the questions? :o I think it's great that you decided to stay with us!

Wow! You drove a school bus! You must have the patience of a saint! How old were the kids on the bus? Did you like driving? I have a friend who is a retired driver and she loved driving - she had grade school kids & Special Ed kids.

Hope you are having a great day!
God Bless...

Hi MICHELE, I wondered why I was not getting the Daily Devotions anymore, but do understand. Hope you are able to fix the problem. Did you get a computer bug?

Charlie sounds like such a sweet man... hope you have the BEST lunch date! Have fun and come back and tell us all about it - will you... well, maybe not all :o  I am so very "happy" for you!! Joe is very much like the way you describe Charlie, very attentive to my needs. Your outfit sounds really nice! Wish I could see it on you - bet you look sharp! Good colors on you with your ivory skin and dark hair.

(((Hugs)))

Mitchypoo 01-29-2004 02:23 PM

I had a nice lunch with Charlie but we got to talking and before you knew it i had to head back to work, took my lunch with me. I am going to the recognition dinner tonight with him for Scouts. There's suppose to be about 90 people there. Should be fun. It's at a church and catered by Bucca's. Maybe we'll have more of a chance to spend time together tonight.

wilma12 01-29-2004 11:30 PM

Hi! I thought I would let you know that -40C is the same as -40F. It's the only time the temps match. Major problems like water lines bursting and gas lines cracking are starting to come up. It's supposed to warm up a bit tomorrow. -23C will feel balmy.

Talk to you tomorrow.

Angel-lover 01-30-2004 06:55 AM

http://www.thingsfromheaven.com/clip...ls/angel20.gifHi everybody...

Been working on pics. When I fought the viruses, they took my Kodak software! I can't get it to install. Gotta go back & try again.

Hi SunnyD...thanks for the beautiful angels in your posts to me. Yes, there are a lot of geat places. You seem to find the better ones....your eyes are better than you think! :D It is a lot of fun. I get excited when I come across a really good site, don't you?! Oh, I knew you didn't mind me using that image, just didn't want you to think I'd use a site you were using at the time. No need....when there ARE so many out there!
Enjoyed the story of Jesus. In fact, it's been on my Christian Website for 2 years now! There are such talented people using the pc's for good!! Makes me feel a little better after fighting viruses!

Hello to everyone else....was gonna try to post to all individual, but, running out of time. Will get back soon as I can. Have a great Friday!

Hello I just have a minute the kids are on a two hr delay and I have one sick. That really makes me late and I hate that on a payroll day Because I know when I walk in I will be pounded on with issues!
Michele-I am so glad you are having so much fun! I pray you have a great time tonight! I know you look great in your cute outfit.
Ez-My kids have been kicking me off for homework also! But because there are so many of them I never get back on I fall asleep waiting!
SunnyD-I had to laugh when garnet said your name reminds her of the drink because that is the samething I thought of when I saw your name! LOL
Wilma-It is cold and with my luck it seems to snow right at rush hour to get home! Last night the person in front of me kept slamming on the brakes and I would touch the brakes and they would go to anti-lock and slide! People in IN do not know how to drive in snow! The roads I go on the people are all driving SUV and Hummers so they think they can drive like nuts!
Garnet I will keep DD in prayers. Your right at least she isn't among a huge lay off group all trying to get the same job.
Angel lover-We had to get a new computer do to being hit by a virus. My DD also has a bug and her computer in brandnew so DH is going to have to go redo everything on it for her!

Well got to run will try to post more later (they can't kick me off for homework tonight!)

SunnyD57 01-30-2004 11:59 AM

http://timbuktu.eluria.com/hushblinksfiles/ab-slee.gif NOT!

Good Morning!

Just wanted to post a couple of pictures of our yard and of the street. I just took my yardstick out with me and measured between 16 & 18 inches of snow. Not including the mounds you see in the picture. And it is still snowing here.

*******

GARY, I haven't worked out since Tuesday! I think I have the flu of some kind... no fever, just achy and feeling very tired. So I have stayed home and spent allot of time on the sofa. It's going around.

How was SD's game? Sounds like you had a great evening out.

ANGEL, What a bummer! Did that virus take your pictures!?! I have backed up all my pictures on a RW-Disk... I do it every time I have bunches of new pics that I want to keep, for fear of a bug wiping them out! I hope you are able to recover them & your sofware.

*******

Here are some pictures of our place. NOTE that you can hardly see the one deer in the yard or the other's legs! That's how deep the snow is: (*Don't forget to click ON the pic to make it larger)

Mitchypoo 01-30-2004 12:31 PM

Hi all!

I needed some warm, springy color, it is so COLD here today. This a.m. it was -29 F w/o the windchill -46 with windchill. Poor Simba's feet are freezing while going outside to potty. I have to make her some booties or find some for her, her feet are too tender to be out there. I talked to my mom in CA and they are about 100 degrees warmer there!

Sunny~those pics are cool. I still think you need to make us a snow angel! ;)

Had a nice time with Charlie at the Boy Scout Volunteer dinner. There were about 95 people there, it was a nice dinner, some speakers, and awards. I was really tired but had a nice time. He is so attentive, i'm almost not sure how to handle it. And he wants to see me again tonight for dinner before he leaves to go up north. We're going to have sushi. I said, are you sure you want to push it before you leave? but he kept saying he wanted to see me before he leaves. I'm almost uncomfortable w/his intensity but i want to just take it slow and get to know him.

Re: Les, he's not calling anymore, not sure what happened? I know he's having a hard time w/his mom's passing, but i also feel in my gut that something else was going on with him. May never know. And if he won't discuss it with me, well, i can't do anything about that.

SunnyD57 01-30-2004 03:43 PM

http://users.bigpond.com/cutecolorz/...ringgirl10.gif Spring... did you say Spring? Here you go MICHELE, ;)

Hi! So glad to hear that you had a wonderful time last night with Charlie. I thought you would ;) Sounds like you are feeling as if this is too good to be true... but God has plans for His children. Do I understand that Charlie is Christian? If so... even more wonderful! If I may be so bold to ask this... Do you know anything about Charlie? Anything about his past, family, etc. Just be informed, you said he is intense that's the only reason why I asked. Hope that doesn't mean possessive. Then again, it could just be that YOU are not used to being treated so well. You are very intuitive... rely on that & God ;)

A little bit too cold for me out there, Michele, for making snow angels... glad you enjoyed the pictures. I was just watching the weather channel (watch it allot these days) and saw that Minnesota had the coldest area in the U.S.!! You guys are really getting it! Hope you layer up before you head out for work in the mornings?! I think once we begin talking about temps into the single digits - that's when it becomes seriously cold for this desert rat :mouse: (remember, I am originally from CA! The desert mind you...) I look like a granny right now with layers and layers of clothes on trying just to keep warm here. We don't want to turn up the heat any higher then 71* inside - our gas bill came in and it was $110.00 for last month and that's expensive enough. Hate to see the next one. So I haveta layer up, instead of turning it up.

Have a great evening! Stay warm...

Mitchypoo 01-30-2004 04:12 PM

Sunny~I knew there was another reason i like you. I didn't remember that you are originally from CA! The desert where? I love Palm Springs and that area out there. Give me 100+ temps and a body of water (river, pool, etc) and I am a happy camper!

I do know enough about Charlie to be comfortable with him, don't worry about that. It's just that I really don't know him well. But I guess that's what dating is about.

SunnyD57 01-30-2004 05:35 PM

http://www.countrycolors.nu/colors/iconirma.gif :) MICHELE, I am from 29 Palms, California. That is about 35 / 40 minutes North of Palm Springs. And we had temps well into the 100's when I lived there. I loved it! It never bothered me, because we never really delt with humidity living there. I didn't experience humidity until I moved East... yuk!

Do you see where Joshua Tree National Park is? Look toward the bottom. We were only a few miles from the park when I was growing up. I use to climb and camp out there, before it was a national park... yep, I am that old  And I have pictures of us boating on the Salton Sea :) Good times!!!

http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/oog/info/st...s/image002.gif

Have FUN tonight!!!

sprout 01-30-2004 05:43 PM

Checkin in for January 30/04

Feeling fairly good considering all things.

Sunny: Looked at our pictures re the snow. Yes it is a lot but where I live in Canada (BC) - the previous city we lived in would have up to 8 - 12 FEET of snow every year so yes you have a lot but not as much as we are used to. Where we currently live in BC Canada we get snow but only about 1 foot - and that is pushing it.

Kids, don't you just love them. We have had some seriousl issues with our son AGAIN - getting into things he shouldnt be - going into our bedroom and going through our closet and dress of drawers - for the fun of it. And not completing assignments that have been given him for school - asking us to trust him and when we check up on him - nothing is completed. I mentioned before that I homeschool him but we are on a program that is funded by the Ministery of Education. So today we did not do any school - made him get up and leave the house at 8 am telling him to return in time for lunch at noon. He did - and at 12:30 he asked him to leave the house again and to return at 4 pm - should be arriving any time. We needed this time to get our 'act' in control. Contacted our supplier of the curriculum - they have provided us with 2 tutors also - explained what we are going through - again - and how all this 'stress' is only aggravating my health issues (cancer) - there suggestion was not to pack it all in completely but to put it all away for min. of 14 days. And during that time make sure that he is out of the house for min. of 4 hours - and when he is home do not allow any TV time. We are praying that he will come to his senses and realize that he does need an education - he tells us he wants to finish grade 12 and go on to college but that he just doesn't want to do the work or listen to instruction from us or any other 'teacher' - terrible state to be in right? We are praying that within the next 14 days of having to be out of the house doing nothing and no TV that things will start to click. We have also told son that when we have to leave the house for such things as grocery shopping, that he is not allowed in the house - this being because he has decided to be a 'snoop' and we can't trust him. We have a challenge ahead of us and I am concerned it is only going to get worse. He will be 16 in 8 days and has only completed grade 8 - has only to finish math and his grade 9 would be done - but he refuses to do so - just wants to sleep, eat and watch tv. So - meals are now at a given time, he has no access to kitchen freely as before - and no tv as he is not working or doing school. Hopefully a 'bell' will click on soon!! Please pray for son and especially me as the stress is making me very ill - and the doctors have told me that this stress is affecting how my body is handling the cancer. Friends here are worried that I am close to a breakdown due to what this child is doing to us - actually more to me than his dad.

Anyway on a positive note. Today I joined Curves!!!! Tomorrow will be my first workout!! Am looking forward to it. Hopefully at the end of February I will see some definite changes in measurements and weight due to my walking and working out at Curves.

Have updated my signature to include joining Curves!!

SunnyD57 01-30-2004 05:49 PM

MICHELE, Right now I live in Geauga County, Ohio. That's in the upper right hand corner - East of Cleveland... closer to the Lake. We are actually in between Cleveland & Ashtabula on the map. Click on the map to make it larger.

SunnyD57 01-30-2004 05:58 PM

Hi SPROUT, So gald to hear that you have joined Curves... you will love it there!

Oh... I know there are places that get more snow then we do - I wasn't trying to 'out do' anyone, I just wanted to show everyone what we got here --- that's all.

I will pray for your son & your family!
:grouphug:

sprout 01-30-2004 08:21 PM

Another cool night!

Well it is a cool one here tonight - glad I am inside.

Sunny: I am glad you have that amount of snow - I was telling you in the previous post that we used to have 8 to 10 feet - the amount you have is plenty - you beat us where we are currently living. Looks nice in the pictures but am glad you have it and not us -- don't like all the shoveling - but that is exercise right!!

Am looking forward to going to Curvers. A friend of mine (walking partner) has also joined today and after tomorrow (I go at 9 am for my first session and she will go at 10 am for hers) then we are going to co-ordinate it so that we are there at the same time. Looking forward to seeing the results we both have at the end of our first month.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT SUNNYD??????????????????

You are always trying to outdo us! Me on the elliptical, Angel on the graphics, Sprout on the snow......... :D :D :D :D :D

I'M KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We NEED you!! and LOVE you!! And if you don't quit apologizing I am gonna post Joe and tell him to shove some of those day old items down your throat to quiet you down   You are our captain-- our ship only floats as well as you skipper it!!

Speaking of ships-- most of us are old enough to remember the USS Pueblo, their Cmdr. Loyd Pete Bucher passed away last night- he was a resident of our county-- had a tough time during the 1968 incident and after-- but a christian!!!

SUNNYD- $110 for gas? does that include electricity too? My gas and electric bill here last month was $143, but then it has been down in the 50's at night. We leave our heater at 60 degrees and it rarely comes on at night. Love the pics of your yard but that poor deer looks frozen, should bring him in don'tcha think? NO EXCUSES!! for the elliptical!! (ssshhh... I haven't done mine since Wednesday either. With SD's game, a 3-1 loss and today I had to change Angie's tire (flat this morning) when I got home from work .... plus it's Friday right?? EXCUSES ME!!! too. Not much of a coach am I?

SPROUT I am so proud of you!! All those troubles and you still keep going forward with things such as Curves!!! Won't be long and you will be our new HERO!! AH Heck! you already are!!!

MICHELE Ditto with what Sunny says! And Where are my pictures :D

ANGEL Angie got hit with the virus bug too. Prayers for your family. Alot of stuff going around on the war with the election-- pay no attention to it! Just pray!

GARNET Tell your DD that there are an abundance of $8 to 10 jobs here in San Diego county-- not sure what she is looking for but they cannot nearly fill entry level jobs and it goes up from there.

SAMI Hey those are California drivers dear!! Send those kids outsidfe when you want to post-- what is more important? their homework or US!!

WILMA Bathroom duty for the boys? this Saturday? How are those girlfriends treating them? not jealous are you? Prayers!

SUE Don't work too hard!

Hey gals- if you take the map from SunnyD and look at California-- at the bottom where it says Salton Sea draw a straight line to the coast and that is where I live, 45 miles above San Diego. I'd invite you all to visit but, ah gee, we are so crowded already--- KIDDDING!!! come visit anytime!!

Keep my Vicar's father in your prayers please, no new news.

Peace and FAITH in JESUS for you all, Gary

sami 01-31-2004 10:12 AM

Well the kids are off the computer (because it is 9:00 in the morning and most are in bed! and DH is at Men's bible study) I am going to visit my DM today she lives across town so I will bundle my little doggie up and we will go visit (she has a little doggie too) I will take pictures so you can see. They are so cute together!
Mitchypoo-My little doggie is having a tough time in the snow it is deeper than she is tall! I tried to put a little coat on her but it drives her nuts and she gets out of it. Glad you had a great time at the dinner. I guess I have to room to say go slow Married my DH 4 months and 1 day from our first date that was 23 yrs ago and 6 kids ago!
Sunnyd-Keep the snow your way! LOL we have had enough! we have a two story plus basement and we are total elect. my bill last month was 230.00 and I look for this month to be in the 300.00's. When we moved in this house I almost died the first winter because we had a hot tub in the sun room and we keep space heaters going to keep and on a mild month the bill was 350.00. We no longer use space heater!
EZ-Is Angie over her flu bug? Ashli stayed home sick on Friday but low and behold Sat she seems fine! (this is the one who struggles with the homework)
Did you get your camera back yet?
Sprout-Just wondering what does your son do while he is out of the house during the day? You need to take care of yourself! I am glad you joined curves it sounds like it may help destress you!
Wilma-Is the weather any better today? We took the SIL and DD out to dinner last night and it was cold!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My DD has gained alot of weight since she has gotten married (alot of it is because they get taken out to dinner often from both sides) The Dr thinks she has a thyorid problem so she is going for more tests. She has had two before and hers jumped up alot from the 1st to the 2nd. So if it has gone up again they will have to get her meds for it.
Angellover-I hate to say this but to get a worth while settlement you have to get a cut throat att. When my DS was killed we just wanted enough to bury her and I had a hard time finding an att. who would only ask for what we wanted (and if the insurane would have paid that without us suing them it would have cost them less!) When I think of you I think of Romans 8:18. I hope that gives you Hope.

Well got to run need to find out where DH is he always brings us breadfast on Sat.

Hi all!

Charlie and I went to have sushi last night at this great place he knew of fairly close to my house. We had a great time! He tried some stuff i like that he had never tried, we shared some saki and we just had fun. He's so complimentary, he's always telling me how pretty i am :o I'm trying to be gracious and except a compliment, but i struggle with it too, just not use to someone being so sweet. He does things like he will not let me touch a car door, he has always opened it for me, and he drops me off wherever we go and then parks the car. He goes to get the car and has me wait in the warmth for him to pick me up. So sweet. He went away last night for the weekend with some guy friends. They are going snowmobiling and staying at a friends lakehouse. Still just wanting to get to know him.

And i have another date tonight for a movie and dinner w/a new guy named John. We'll see how that goes. I'm not sure why my dating life has picked up but I guess i should enjoy it for now! ;)

I've been struggling with my WOE, not going to make excuses, i just continue to try to do better. Guess that's a good thing.

Sprout~you and family will be in my prayers. It's really sad that it's affecting your health. I know you are doing all you can. It's wonderful that you've joined Curves, that is something good for you and while exercising you get those endorphins going which help with stress.

Sunny~thanks for showing where you are in Ohio. How'd you end up there from CA? Are you like me and enjoy having seasons?

Gary~I haven't gotten that digital camera yet so sorry, no pics! What's for dinner tonight? ;)

http://timbuktu.eluria.com/hushblink...SunBlinkie.gif We awoke to SUN :sunny: today!!!!!!! Thanks GARY & GARNET, for sending us some CALIFORNIA sun!

It's 4* this morning and we had -20* in windchill. Yes, we have the sun to enjoy this morning, but because the clouds are cleared away - it all that much colder. We have about 18" of snow here as of today. But it is so pretty with the sunshine and blue sky we have this morning... just love it. Makes a body feel so much better to see and feel some sunshine :sunny:

*******

Great to hear from you SAMI! My Gas bill is separate from my electric bill. We had $110.00 in Gas & $100.00 in electric, so it really isn't too bad considering we are running de-icing cables up on the roof. Those take up allot of electric.

Enjoy your breakfast!!!

Thanks GARY,

I am afraid I didn't do too well this week on my elliptical either... I think I had the flu for a couple days there, but am just fine this morning. The sun sure does help!

If I compare my bill's to yours we are doing pretty darn good considering the temps we have here. We only paid with both ele. & gas a total of $210.00... not too bad. I keep the temp at 71* during the day and 67* at night ~ all programmed. And on the weekends at 69* during the day, because most times we are not here. Right now Joe is watching a movie on the Hallmark Channel - "The Apple Dumpling Gang". He is quiet and enjoying it, so I snuck in her to post, teeeheeeheee.

MICHELE, :cp: So wonderful to hear that you had such a great date and will be going on another... enjoy!

We moved around allot! Remember, my father is a retired Marine. So that's why I was born in Ca. but ended up on the East coast. Joe & I met when my father was stationed on a Navy Base in Brunswick, Maine. Joe - Navy, Dad - Marine... like oil & water :o But now... they are the best of friends. Joe is from Ohio, so when we married in Brunswick, Maine we settled here. So that's how I got here :) Yes, just love the season's here! Especially the FALL!!! Much too short of a season though. I really don't mind it here, but I so miss my hometown too. I just love the desert and the serenity there... not to mention the SUN!

Have fun tonight with John...

wilma12 01-31-2004 12:00 PM

Good Morning!

It's still pretty cold here -32C -26F. I slept in and thoroughly enjoyed it. Now it's time to get my house clean for company tomorrow. We should be getting our car back today. I sure hope so because we really need it. I've been begging rides off co-workers the past couple of days.

I'm still doing okay with WOE but am really missing my Curves. I hope to go again on Monday.

Sunny: Up here in the winter sunshine doesn't been warmth-it means clear and cold. It is nice to have sunshine though and when you start to feel the warmth in spring it's wonderful feeling.

Michele: Wow! You are a busy gal! It sounds like you're meeting some really nice guys. Have fun!

Sami: It sounds like you're feeling better. Hope you had a nice visit with your mom.

Gary: I am so not jealous of those girlfriends. It's one step closer to empty nest. They are really nice girls and all seem to get along with each other. No bathroom duty for DS today. His childhood friend is here for the weekend so I'm going easy on him. The highschool kid he was tutoring last semester brought his average form a 50 to a 63. We're really proud of him.

Sprout: I was glad to hear you have joined Curves. I love going. Don't be too disappointed it you don't see results weight wise right away. It's taken me a few months to notice it there. Inches are coming off every month though and I see muscle where I didn't know I had it. It has helped my motabolizm too. Good luck!

So sorry to hear the struggles you're going through with your DS. I'm praying for him and for your health.

Well, better go get this started around here. Have a super day.

Januaray 31 already!!

Must be my age but time sure seems to be going fast!!

Sami: you asked what my son does while 'walking' - Yesterday we all went walking in the morning and when we fnished and were going for our 'coffee/water break' told him he had to go elsewhere as we needed a break. Told him when we would be home otherwise the house was locked to him. He arrived home about 10 minutes after us. All he did was walk for 4 hours - we have a lot of areas for walking here - he did them all. Then lunch. He then asked if he could watch TV - answer NOPE!! So he asked if he could go walking again. Told him YUP be home no earlier than 4 pm. He arrived at 4 pm. Asked where he walked: Said he went to the library for awhile, then went and watched some hockey, then over to the mall and ran into 2 friends from youth group that he talked to for awhile and then home. This morning he has been out all morning walking - went to one of our nature paths and when he got there he met a friend from youth group so they walked around the little lake for awhile, then he came home. Last night while the rest of us were watch the CD "Radio" he decided that he would 'disobey' and play with the other tv - he didn't actually watch the tv but he did put on a music channel - but without asking. We discovered that this morning. So at lunch we informed him that there was no TV today and no reading of his novels (he loves reading) - so he asked if he could go out for another walk. Yup but only one thing this time - has to be home by 3:30 and has to give us min. of 2 applications for part time jobs - don't want him just 'wasting time' and looking for trouble so he can show us that while out 'walking' he did somethng useful like looking for work. He will be 16 in 7 days so a part time job I think should be encouraged. Will be interesting to see how he does from 3:30 onward today with no tv, no music and no reading. If he gets through the evening ok, then his books will be given back to him tomorrow. Good news about this is that I feel myself releasing some of the stress - don't like what is happening, would much rather see this intelligent boy get with the program and get an education but this is his choice. Now I have to learn to destress myself so that my blood pressure will remain normal!!

Good news? I went to Curves for the 1st time today. Watching the ladies my first thought was 'doesn't look too hard - 3 x should be rather easy' -NOT!!! It is really quite the workout.

I am looking forward to going there 3 x per week and working it up to more when I can. With Norm's work schedule some weeks it could be 3 x and some weeks it could be 4 or 5 x. Looking forward to seeing some results at the end of February.

Today is my first day of revised food plan. I had made some changes in January - no bread, no potatoes. But for February I am actually going to work on the outline of what Dr. Phil gives for the Rapid Start Plan - the outline for the 3 meals and snacks. I am sure if I follow this plan just for February and with the walking and Curves I should get some jump start on this weight.

Well, son just walked in the door - it is only 2:15, he has been gone 1.75 hours - got a ride home from his Dad. Ask him for the application forms - he said 'Oh I forgot to get them' - yeh another lie - he just did not want to get them so he is using the standby that he forgot. So now he has been informed - today no tv, no reading because of fooling around with tv last night when he wasn't supposed to - and because of not following through with getting the applications today and using the excuse 'I forgot' - tomorrow (Sunday) there will be no tv, no reading, no music and no walking unless we leave the house. Hopefully this having only to sit on bed will 'twig' in soon.

Fasting and Exercise

Hi everyone,
I just had a quick question. My church is going on a fast for the month of February. We are to not eat food from 12am - 6pm. I really want to participate to grow spiritually but exercising on an empty stomach doesn't seem logical. What do you think? Maybe I should exercise after 6pm.... Has anyone ever tried it.

 "WELCOME" to our thread DIVINEFAVOR, I wish There was something I could do to help you, but I am really thinking you need to maybe ask someone professional... like your Dr. or your Pastor as far as fasting & exercising goes. Is it an absolute fast (no beverages)? If, not maybe you can have protein drinks to keep up your energy level while fasting. I don't think you should be exercising otherwise, it may cause muscle damage. See if you can have protein drinks, okay. I know that Wal-Mart sells Atkins protein drinks (in the vitamin section) at a very reasonable price if you need to get some.

I wish you well on your fast, DIVINE... do be careful and don't be afraid to ask your Pastor questions.

 A very Good Afternoon to everyone!

We have another Beautiful SUNNY :sunny: day today! You should see the way the trees glisten from the snow & ice on them in the sunshine --- just so beautiflul! It was a wonderful drive home from church this morning. Joe stayed to give blood at the blood-drive in the church hall, I couldn't because I was ill with the flu this week. I will next time.

Hope everyone is having a GREAT SUNDAY so far... who's gonna be watching the game today & having a superbowl party?? For my father & brother, Joe & I will be cheering on the Patriots!!! No party - just us ;)

Superbowl Sunday

HAPPY SUPERBOWL SUNDAY GALS! Just taking a few minutes to check in, worked yesterday, came home and had burgers then off to church for Saturday night service. We thought it would be a good time to go Sat. night then grocery shop this morning before the game.

Just finished putting all the goodies in the pot for bean and ham soup for tomorrow night- supposed to be rainy and stormy here then. It is an incredible day right now! in the high 60's and sunny as can be- Angie is out planting more african daiseys on the bank. She went running this morning, came back home and while she was stretching I noticed that she sweat more than usual by the looks of her tank top and shorts- she said she did because it was cold outside and she left her jacket on the entire 3.5 miles- I laughed and said "Don't tell our 3FC friends it was cold after what they are going through" she said just to say the windchill was 59 degrees- just don't mention it was a + 59

Just to keep you all informed and thanking for the prayers- My Vicar's dad is getting advice tomorrow on when to get surgery for his tumor- they say it is probably 5 years old so another couple of months won't matter-- the best news now!! is they don't feel it is life threating in any way!! God is good.

SUNNYD Hi dear- I am pretty much watching the game alone too-- I don't mind at all- had other offers but didn't want to-- son is going to a big party and maybe my step-d, daughter is watching with all the boy and girl tennis folks at school so just me and Ron here-- Angie will sneak a peek now and then between reading a good book probably. Have to say that even though I don't care much who wins-- THE ONLY TEAM THAT SHOULD EVER WIN THE SUPERBOWL IS THE RAIDERS!!! I am pulling for the Panthers- the underdog and their coach has strong San Diego ties-- plus that is the mascot of my Alma Mater!! Panthers.

DIVINE FAVOR I agree with Sunny and the advice for your fast/exercise. My I ask why you are fasting? Is that for the entire month? Welcome.

MICHELE- All right-that's it--YOU ARE A PLAYER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you had a great time with John last night. Dinner was burgers last night, Angie making flank steak tonight-- I mentioned I had bean and ham soup on the stove for tomorrow-- should I set another place for you? ;)

WILMA- Are you looking forward to the empty nest? I wasn't but now as the kids get older I am looking forward to some changes in my life without having to worry about them--- nephew won't be even 18 for 5 more years though. That is great news on the tutoring by your son, tell him I am proud of him-- I know how hard it is to reach some of these kids. Since you aren't jealous of the girlfriends- PUT THEM TO WORK

SPROUT GREAT JOB at Curves!! Prayers for you and your son!!

SAMI I think Ashli had that ASABL flu-- as soon as the bus leaves I'm better flu  I used to get that!! Now it's the ASAAL flu- as soon as Angie leaves ;) We did get our camera back this week- good as new- will have to send pictures soon. We paid to have it shipped and the took care of the repair and re-shipping (FUJI) . No complaints here on the service.
Angie has been wanting a golden retriever for some time- me, I am against the trouble of a dog, now that we haven't had one in some time, I really don't want another-- she showed me a picture of a couple of Yorkipoo's- puppies--I AM IN LOVE!!!!!!!!!!! I have always said if we got another dog it would be a Yorki- Angie wants a BIG dog to run with- we shall see, she was also looking at Labradoodle and a goldendoodle-- strange names but cute.

Well I think I have posted to all the new post and the rest of you don't get NUTIN until you post again

HAVE A GREAT SUPERBOWL DAY--

Just remembered back in '70 on SuperBowl Sunday morning I rolled my car, I had just bought it, 2 years old, and was still on my permit-- going too fast in the rain. Thank-God none of the 4 people in the car got hurt. BIG LESSON LEARNED before turning 16!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IN HIS CARE- Gary

Super Bowl Half-time Show

Morning GARY,

Did you see the half-time show??? How very sad :( that we have come to this kind of so called 'entertainment'! I am so upset with CBS - what were they thinking MTV & AOL would produce? Doesn't anyone communicate anymore? They all act as if MTV would bring them a wholesome family show, duhh... it's MTV people! "What were you thinkin' CBS!" Now Justin Timberlake is on TV & in the paper's trying to say it was a costume flaw - yeah, rrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiight! They replayed it and you KNOW it was all intentional... the song, lyrics and actions were all planned. It was a terrible halftime show! And now this morning CBS is all sorry for the show ~ if they did their homework like they were suppose to, that would have never happened... it was all terrible.

On the bright side: The Patriots won!!! :cp: I am happy for them and for my family. Sorry that the Panthers didn't win... but the Panthers sure did play a good game. It started out so slow and boring on both sides, it was great to see the game pick up & both teams giving it their all!

wilma12 02-02-2004 08:55 AM

Good Morning!

A quick post before I head off to work. I finally made it back to Curves-felt GREAT! I've packed a nutritious lunch so I'm ready to start my day. It's RRSP season here and it's very busy at work. I won't be doing much in the evenings. Hopefully I'll be too tired to snack too.

Tonight's dinner is spaghetti - a family favorite and not at all hard to do.

Have a great day!!

Mitchypoo 02-02-2004 11:26 AM

Hello all!

Gosh, i missed you this weekend! I wanted to post and say hi but had to wait to use the computer at work. Sounds like you are all well!

Gary & Angie~Very funny about your windchill. Poor dear's......;) It's warmer here now but we've had lots of snow. I think about 12" so far and 2-5 expected today. I wasn't sure i could get out of my garage and driveway but my cousin plowed through once and i made it. And because we have the snow to insulate my drains are draining and the water is working! Yeah!

The "date" saturday w/John was a big bummer! He didn't have any manners, i didn't like him. But I liked the movie.......Monster. It was hard to watch but good. Great performance by Charlize Therron. Saw the trailer for The Passion of the Christ, the Mel Gibson movie and I cannot wait! The date also made me very grateful to have Charlie in my life. He's very good to me.

More later, must get to work.

Monday Afternoon

http://timbuktu.eluria.com/hushblink...iseBlinkie.gif ;)

MICHELE, So good to see you! Sorry about your date with John, but it sounds as if Charlie will be a tough guy to beat (so to speak).

Joe & I are excited to see the movie "The Passion" too! So much talk about it on the Christian Stations... Mel Gibson is being crucified in Hollywood over the movie and he said, "He would do it all over again... even if it meant he were to never do another thing in Hollywood!" He would do the movie again! I really admire his convictions! Do you know that the ONLY part he plays in the movie is the Roman Guard that nails Christ to the cross! He is very upset with being called anti-Semitic... he said humanity put Christ on that cross! That it had nothing to do with race or background... Humanity! He is a cool guy and I am very anxious to see his movie!!

Hi WILMA, I miss you too when you don't post. Good to see that you have gone back to Curves :cp: I go back tomorrow and will do Curves 3x a week and the elliptical 2x a week. I have a goal to get in 30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week, resting on the weekends. Good 'LUCK' to you!!!

:coach: GARY, I just finished stretching out from my workout... I did 30 minutes (30 MIN!) on the elliptical and got in 4.6 miles. Thanks coach!! Don't forget to get your workout in for today ;)

Now I am dashing off to go make myself some lunch. I am making a salad with a Hardboiled egg, Sliced Red Pepper, Portabello Mushrooms & Gormet Cuke & Salmon and topped with a Balsamic dressing - yum! :hun:

Gotta go... I made myself really hungry :o

sprout 02-02-2004 12:51 PM

Start of another good week!!

Feel really pumped and ready for the week.

Son is still 'no school' due to mom and dad taking time off. Due to him doing the 'snopping' in our bedroom we have also instituted a 'you are not to be left alone in the house when we are not there.' This is the 4th day and it is working well. So far he is 'enjoying not having to do schoo' but he is not a happy camper that he gets no TV as that is his choice activity.

Hubby is sick - came down with that terrible cold on the weekend and today he is reallly really under the weather - he will be seeing the doctor in 45 minutes to get some meds - when he is not working he gets no pay so can't miss to many of those train rides.

January was a good month for me re food plan. Work on no potatoes and no bread. Realized that it was the peanut butter and jam that got me to overeat on the bread. Have not bought either since December and no one is missing them. Yeah!!!

February I am going to be working a bit more on my food plan making sure I get the proper portions of protein, carbs, veggs and fruits in.

Went for my walk this morning - have now hit 713.5 miles. And after my walk went to Curves - 2nd session today. Was not as hard as it was on Saturday - hardest part is getting on and off the machines!!! To short legged!!! Am feeling really pumped now that I have completed 2 x there.

Took a look at my weight while I was there. Am down 1/4 pound since Saturday!!!! So I am doing something right.

Well have to run, need to get hubby up and ready to go out the door to his doctors appointment.

Going back to my salad...
