Angie I know what you mean about being bored and not wanting to do anything. I get that way alot. Have you ever thought about getting a few differnt workout videos? I wonder if that might help you get motivated again. I know you do great on your machines but you might be getting a little worn out with those. I know I get tired of the same ol' things too.

Maybe once you start to feed that cat he will warm up to you. I hate seeing animals that are stray. I want to take care of all of them.

melekalikimaka 01-28-2004 03:21 PM

just enough time for a quickie

Well I'm back from the tire repair guys. They're just caddy(?)-corner away from our shop. It was a leaky valve stem on that brand new tire I got in late November so I got it repaired for free. It sure was scary on the freeway though--I was changing lanes and all I heard was this thudding noise as I rolled over the reflector bumps. Rick was once again my knight in shining armor and put the spare on so I could drive it in for repair. OK, well if that's any kind of indication of how my day will be then I'll just go home and hop into bed so I can start over when I wake up.

Kempy, so glad to hear your brother's ok. Being smart's a b*tch eh? So are you guys gonna have to call him "Dr"? Hey, congrats on your 5 lb loss- that's great! If only the thought of weighing-in in the nude would keep me from reaching for the donuts...if only... speaking of which, we had our first Krispy Kreme donut shop open on Maui yesterday to the tune of 10,000 customers. Thank GOD it's on another island and not here in Honolulu.

Angie, I know how you feel girl. Sometimes I just want to give up and say I don't care what I look like or how much I weigh. But the truth is, i DO care. You just gotta get through one day at a time just like before. We all know how awesome you've done and know you can get your groove on again. Hey, I like that dream home, that tower room is pretty cool. The Envoy would be nice to drive too. I actually have a first cousin living in Georgia so it's not like I won't have any relatives nearby. :crossed: I'm entering!

Julie how're you hanging in there girl? Sorry, no really good jokes today but the day is still young... :D

Tonya, you had beautiful long hair but I'd love to see your new haircut. Congrats on your 5 lbs too--that's awesome.

Jacks, where ya been hiding? How often are you training with this running group?

Well girls, hello to everyone else...be back later.

angieME 01-28-2004 04:06 PM

Kempy, You have created a monster!!!!! My daughter loves the song you sent yesterday. She just sits here and laughs her little butt off and makes me play it again. She is a little perv!!!

Kempyd 01-28-2004 05:16 PM

Angie you let her hear it? :o I laugh at it every time I hear it too.

Noelle I am not a big fan of dougnuts. I think I ate to mayny of them as a kid. I wish I could get that way with chocolate. :D And no I will not call me brother DR. that is just to weird. We call him Danny but his students call him Mr. Dan. That in itself is really weird. I hope your day goes good.

jbbm 01-28-2004 05:33 PM

Hey Girls

Checking in late. Had the funeral today. I feel blah and tired. But I made it through with no major panic attack. Thank God. So was a sweet old lady who I am sure is in heaven.

Angie do not be embarrassed you should be be proud of yourself. You will get back down. Don't give up! I know how you feel with the winter thing. I just want to get out too. You are strong. Look how far you have come :).

Kempy and Tonya you guys are doing great. 5 pounds! Great job.

Noelle I too hate it when something goes wrong with the car. I had to meet my hus at the church this a.m., bring the kids to my moms first and with the wind chill -9 and fresh 4 inches of snow I was praying for the car not to die on me. And I am sure you know how this goes I am all ready late and my little guys says mama I have to make potty. I knew I would never make it on time. I know bad girl being late for a funeral but what was I suppose to do. Everything worked out find though. Well gotta do supper now. I am thinking of you all. Julie (Hi to everyone else i may have forgot)

angieME 01-28-2004 07:14 PM

Oh yeah they all heard it. I am an open parent I guess. haha I get it from my parents. They were always playing around and joking while we were growing up.

I forgot to tell you guys but last weekend I was supposed to go to a sex toy party with my mom,her best friend and my sis. Mom thought the girl cancelled it because her dad was sick but I guess she had it anyway. They did it at a bar by my house and I guess it was fun. Some snowmobilers from Connecticut got a kick out of the parties Maine women have. haha Now mom is trying to get Wendy(my sis) to throw one.

I wished I knew where to start with this move. I am probably going to need and SBA loan for the extra equipment for a front but I dont know where or when to start it. I need to do a business plan(which I dont get) AAAHHH!!!!

Julie, I am glad you made it through the funeral okay. I am thinking of you guys tonight.

Noelle, I dont get the Krispy Kreme craze. I saw them in Florida and they looked like ****. They are so small. Ours are huge and we cant get a big hype going. Maybe I am jealous of all the money. haha

Kempy, I meant to tell you when you asked if Jay was going to get a job in Florida that he cant because he makes the donuts. haha. I will not sink a tray of 20 donuts into a vat of hot grease. ouch.

Kempyd 01-28-2004 07:40 PM

Angie I think there is a site for government grants or just grants in general. You may want to see if you could find it, you might be able to get money for your front for free. There is all sorts of money out there for people but you have to know where to look for it. I wish I could give you a site but I don't know what to type into a search engine. Maybe one of the other girls can help too.

calnative 01-28-2004 10:17 PM

I'm finally back. For some reason my computer kept kicking me off whenever I came onto the site. Now it's working again and I can chat again. Of course, I realize with the time difference that everyone is probably already in bed. :)

I've started carpooling with another teacher I work with. She lives only 2 blocks from me and it is great having someone to talk to in the morning.

Angie: Kempy is right. There are grants available, especially for women who want to open a business. I'm sure you'll have some luck. For starters, try the SBA website.

Kempy: I'm glad your brother is doing well. My SIL was put in the hospital last weekend with a severe kidney infection. She had some kind of poisoning. She bounced back well (though still really weak) and she's home as of today.

At school we were told last week (Friday) that we have some new requirements. As if we don't have enough to do. Arizona is one of 30 states that use attendance as a measurement of AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress). The attendance at my school is very poor. Parents don't care, kids don't care, parents use kids for babysitters, etc. The state has decided that our school is one of several in the state that needed to be put on corrective action. So we are being monitored to death all because our attendance is low; never mind that the testing scores actually went up!!!! We were told that we are required to have 97% attendance for the entire month of February or the principal would come down hard on us such as not offering new contracts for the fall. In fact, they are talking about not giving us any performance pay raises because of the attendance. We were told that we have to call parents then do home visits to tell them that their kids belong in school. Hello!?!?!! Isn't that what we have truancy officers and a parent coordinator for??? The liability issue alone is enough for this to NOT be a good idea. I spoke to our union rep and she got some action. They cannot make us do home visits, but they can deny us the raise. Amazing to be judged on something that you have absolutely no control over.
Sorry to rant, but I really needed to get this off my chest. Hardly any wonder that over half the teachers at my school don't plan on signing new contracts for next year. Sad really, for the kids.

I'm still trying very hard to watch what I eat. So far I'm so upset about what is going on that I don't feel like eating. I don't even feel hungry. Why can't I feel like this when things are going great??!?!??

Hope everyone is having a great week.

Cal

TonyaS 01-29-2004 10:58 AM

Angie, go to google.com, and type something like "SB loans/grants in [your state]".. it should give you some sites, look for the one with .gov on the end of it, and you probably have your info :) good luck! -- also, You sound so much like me. I am so bad at being WAY too hard on myself most of the time. And when it gets really bad, I say screw it, and i give up. then 3 months later, I am really mad at myself for doing that. What I have to try to do is stay positive. Because I know the harder on myself I am , the worse eating gets. A positive attitude is the best appetite supressant I swear, too bad it's not easier to force yourself into it hu? :) You will do fine! You have done great so far.. it's a small setback, and you can turn it around!

Kempy, I love chocolate too, but really, I love anything sweet. Cheesecake, carrot cake, chocolate cake, donuts, candy bars, ice cream... mmmm! it's really bad too! Grats on the 5 lbs :)

Noelle, I will get a picture soon of my hair, I am still in shock. When you go so long with hair that sways back and forth across your waist in the back, and then take it to where it barely will tuck behind your ears and won't even fit into a ponytail, it's so wierd! But really, I am glad this style looks good on me, otherwise I would hate myself! It's really easy to do too.. I do miss my hair though sometimes. Ugh, sorry bout the tire, do you know I have had nightmares about having a tire blow on the freeway and not being able to control the car ?

Julie, glad you made it through the funeral, and that you are doing well. Keep your chin up :)

Cal, in Utah they actually issue tickets for the parents eventually after truancy has become a big enough problem. At least last time I checked that's what they did. My mom would have KILLED me if that were the case when I was in school  -- anyhow, I can't believe they are going to punish the teachers... wow, that's big :(

have a good day ladies! hi to everyone else!

angieME 01-29-2004 11:26 AM

Cal, That is so unfair. It isnt your fault that the parents dont care enough to make their kids get an education. I hope everything works out for you guys but I dont see how the school thinks that by adding more to the teachers to do list will help the kids any.

Kempy,Tonya and Cal, Thanks. I have been on the SBA websights but I dont know how to do a formal business plan. I know how to run the business but I intend on getting an accountant for the books because I know how to keep track of the money but I dont know the legals of it and all. I also need to do it in Florida(I assume) so I am stumped on where to actually start. I would hate to get ahold of SCORE and have them help me in Maine to write up a business plan and then take it to Florida.

Tonya, You will get used to your hair. I did. Now it actually feels too long when it isnt. haha I will bet it looks great!! I know what you mean though, it is like losing a piece of yourself.

Kempy, Have fun at school!!

jbbm 01-29-2004 12:16 PM

Good Morning Girls

Cal I agree with everyone too. Its not fair.

Tonya I remember seeing your picture with long hair. You have a beautiful face I think you would look good with any haircut. I can't wait to see a pic. My hair is below my shoulders right now and I find it is getting difficult to fix and I am kind of tired of it. Yesterday I had to curl it to make it look nice. I am sure you look great.

Angie those sex toy parities sound so funny. I think I would be blushing and laughing through the whole thing. How are you doing staying OP? You have alot going on right now in your life but you will get back on track :).

Have a great day at school Kempy.

Noelle I have never tried those kind of doughnuts. But people around my area here love doughnuts. God I am starting to think of sweets. My favorite are frosted fudgy brownies. Oh my gosh my mouth is actually watering. I better think of something else. Bye for now Julie

melekalikimaka 01-30-2004 02:00 PM

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday girls. Life's been hectic for me lately and I don't have the time to sneak here as much as I'd like. Nothing much happening with me though. Weights still on, not climbing, but not losing either. I think I'm getting the right mindset though, I've been trying to push myself to walk faster (sometimes farther) in preparation of this "fun run/walk" that's coming up on President's day. It's a 8.15 mile course--the last time I did it was about 9 years (and 45 lbs less) ago and it was 5 days before my wedding day. Geez, that was a long time ago . Anyways, I'm actually looking forward to it.
Does anyone have any plans for the weekend? I'm not into football so I think I'll leave the kid with his dad and go shopping with my sisters... better to be away from the "party" atmosphere and pig out on junk food.

Julie, I like Krispy Kreme donuts but it's probably because we can't get them over where I live--well, not close by anyway. According to an article I read yesterday there are plans for 2 new stores on O'ahu (where Jacks and I live) within the next 5 years. That'll be a challenge. I'm sure the novelty will wear off just like it did when Dunkin' Donuts came back.

Angie, Angie, Angie...a sex toy party with mom??? :o I'd die! Well, with my mom I would, I'm sure yours is a lot younger than mine and more hip. Let us know if you sister decides to have one, I'm sure it would be hilarious. Hmmmm, I'm gonna look into that, after all, I have 6 naughty sisters  and lots of raunchy girlfriends . I hate looking into SBA stuff too--they make it so damned complicated to get help.

Cal, rules and regulations for teachers suck. That has got to be one of the most underpaid and underappreciated professions in the US. My mom was an ESL teacher for many years and she finally retired last year because she was getting tired of having to fill out so many darned forms and reports just for the handful of kids she was teaching. I always get upset when i think about how the kids' parents don't get involved and try to lay the blame for their children not learning on the teacher--come on parents! It's YOUR kid--take reponsibility and shape them to learn at home! Hang in there, you'll get through it.

Gotta run, someone's knocking the door...hello to Kempy, Susan, Sarah, Tonya, Jacks....everyone  be back later.

angieME 01-30-2004 03:48 PM

Good afternoon!! Where is everyone today? Having fun, I hope.

I was so mad last night. I have been looking for a pie press for when we move. It molds the pie dough for you so you can make pies faster and dont have to roll out a ton of dough. Well to get a used one they cost $1800.00!!! I happened to be on ebay last night and saw one almost ready to go off and the minimum bid was $169.99 and noone had bid yet so I went through the crap of signing up and then put in a bid only to have someone snatch it the minute it was ready to end and of course I couldnt get another bid in in time. I was ready to flip out. That was such a good deal not to mention that I can not find one anywhere. I emailed the seller to see if he has anymore and offered the Buy it now price of $400.00 plus shipping. He just emailed back and maybe getting in another. I hope so. My MIL just had both of her hands operated on from years of rolling dough (I assume). I dont want that to happen to me.

Noelle, I envy you so much. I would love to go for a walk. I am recommiting myself(If I say it enough then one of these times it will stick. ) to getting back in shape again. My back and chest pain has stopped so I think I will start on my treadmill again on Sunday. I just need to do it and get over it.

Julie,Cal,Kempy,Susan,Jacks,Tonya, I hope you all have a great weekend.

jbbm 01-30-2004 04:07 PM

Happy Friday Girls!!!!

I am so glad it is the weekend even though it is going to be freezing because my hus likes to get up early and I like to sleep in so he can have the kids for a little while in the a.m. Not much going on with me. It finally made it to zero outside. Ahhhhhhhhh. Now I am dreaming of the temp just to go up 70 degrees ;). Sorry so short. One of the little ones are having a melt down :dizzy:!! Better go see whats up....bye for now and Hello to everyone. Julie
