Just flew in from Halifax...
...and boy, are my arms tired!
1 1/2 hour delay in Toronto, missed my plane from Frankfurt to Hannover, had to take one two hours later. Lost dh's cell phone number and had to phone friends to get him to phone him. Credit card didn't work in phone. Had some change on me luckily. Will post more when not so crabby. Didja get the postcards from P.E.I? Muffie, I couldn't send you one 'cause I wasn't sure if you were still at the same address. couldn't phone Kiwi because of course I left the number at home- duh! |
I am soOOooOO happy to hear from sugarrrrrrr but I can't understand where she is. I think she may be in Florida. No postcards year, swwetiepie. You go rest then come back and tell us about Halloween.
I had zero trickortreaters which means I have a bowl of Tootsie Rolls to deal with. |

I have a headache -- not surprising, considering the eventful Friday we had. Friend's ("Fingers", for Peaches' info) mother's funeral, gathering giggly girls and pizza, driving some more to go to this coffeehouse party, drinking wayyyyyyy too much coffee, listening to live music, including my own DD and her friends. They got good response from the crowd (which varied from under 10 to about 20 people), but the highlight for me was a song she did by herself that I hadn't heard before -- it was beautiful and she got hearty applause from everybody. They only had one voice mike, so when she sang with her friend, she either wasn't miked or had to lean in to sing into it (of course this is a small place, no stage, a mike isn't absolutely necessary). For this solo, a guy who was an old hand at this set the mike right up to her and made her get closer until she was really using it right. And man, was it beautiful! Not that I'm bragging or anything.... On our way home with 3 tired girls in the back seat, DH decided to shake things up a bit and drove us to a lonely cemetery that he had found while doing genealogy research. It's in the woods off a long bumpy dirt road, and it only seems to have 2 graves in it, one of them the headstone was knocked over and is gone and the other one: Harriot Crosby. This place is quite large, surrounded by a beautiful 4-foot high stone wall, and a lovely squeaky gate with the name Oliver Crosby in cut-out letters in the iron. We aren't sure if they were related to DH's family or not, but it's a great place to go at midnight on Halloween  I bought halloween candy too. We have never had trick or treaters. I just buy it to eat. I am bbaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaddddddd. Our pumpkin is very silly. It's huge and we drew vertical lines on it, a polka-dotted bowtie and buttons. It's basically a headless pumpkin. Placed the enormous thing on the swingbench beside the front door, with old sneakers balanced on the rung under the seat. Looks ridiculous. I thought about cutting out a circle at the top and letting guts spill out, but that sounded a bit gruesome. I'm so twisted. Anyway, welcome back, Sugar! Hope everyone had a ghoulish Halloween! I got my postcard today! Sugar P, sounds like you had quite an adventure! Wow!
The other day, when I was cleaning, I found the batch of postcards I bought to send to y'all this SUMMER! I'm so embarrassed, especially since I can't remember where I put them! Wabby-- Hmmm... I'm going for 13 pounds off by Dec 31, so for me, Dec 9 is probably a better goal (guess I should put away this peanut butter cup!) Kiwi-- we've had either football games, competitions, or band practices every weekend since July. It's getting very old. C had to miss tonight's game for another thing he had been planning since late spring and the teacher got upset (the only performance C has missed or will miss.) Meanwhile, the teacher ended jazz practice early (with no notice) so he could carve pumpkins with his kids. Aww cute, except we'd like to be able to do stuff with our kids too!! Sounds like you had a cool Halloween! We only got about ten Trick-or-Treaters, so we have a bowlful of candy to deal with... along with the candy N scored while he was out there. We had fun Trick-or-Treating. N isn't feeling well tonight, so we have to skip a Halloween/wedding party we were invited to. Oh well, guess I'll work on that novel I'm trying to write in 30 days. Hi Lushanie, Peachpernia, and Muffie! |

Don't feel bad about the postcards -- I do that all the time. When people actually receive something from me, they are just that much more amazed.... A Halloween/wedding party -- that sounds very strange. Is everyone supposed to come in costume? Suppose the bride and groom marry the wrong people by mistake? DD and I stayed up watching movies last night. I borrowed Dark Passage from the library -- a murder mystery with Bogart and Bacall. And then we watched The Three Faces of Eve on TV. She hardly ever watches movies with me, so it was rather nice. Joanne Woodward was amazing. I have a hormone migraine. I only have one magic migraine pill left and I'm saving it for an emergency. So I'm trying to feel better with Excedrin Migraine. Not working very well. Everything bothers me. DH and DD were watching some tapes of The Gilmore Girls yesterday (DD has a cold, so she's uncharacteristically all about TV this weekend) and that woman's voice was so annoying to me, I had to put earplugs in while I was working in the next room! And right now, the house smells because someone heated up a pizza in the oven and that's bothering me (and not in a good way, it smells burnt). I'm so fragile. :joker: And so endless fascinating. Because, after all, non-stop rambling about nothing is what everyone comes here for, right? Kiwi |
N got better, so we did get to go to the party. The bride and groom got married on October 20th in New Orleans and then came back to throw the party. It was cute. The bride wore her dress and an orange wig and the groom wore an orange suit and top hat. I'll have to ask Monday if that was what he wore for the wedding! :-)
It was fun. We danced and danced and I counted it as my exercise for yesterday! Also, today, I believe I hit a new low weight- 171. It's been a couple of years since I was that low! Kiwi, watching movies with DD sounded nice. I'm sorry about your migraine. I'd better go... I'm trying to get about 3K words today and I'm meeting a bunch of Internet strangers up the street. (I wish I could meet you guys! You know the only Cybermom I've even talked to on the phone was Beth, yet now I'm meeting people I've "known" for less than a month! Of course, they live here and y'all don't.) (You can follow the novel-writing fun on my blog.) |

HEY! SHE SURE KNEW A LOT ABOUT YOU TWO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad she didn't know squat about me. I liked Karen in MN. She told us about the one nice place -- on top of her dresser with a music box -- that inspired her to clean up the rest of her house. Dusty, on the other hand, I can't stand!!!!!!!! What's wrong with someone who takes notes on people? I'm making a lovely beef roast with garlicky potatoes for dinner. Doesn't that sound nummy? Cold weather makes me cook. Stick that on your hard drive... ;) Kiwi |
Wasn't Karen in Minn the one who described her period disasters in detail? I don't like people like that or period sponge people...or people who live in Florida who take notes on people.
|
Must have been before my time. Either that or there was nothing interesting about me to make notes on.
Welcome home, Sugar P!!!! Thank you for the lovely postcard from PEI! I was thinking I'd send you all my postcards from last summer for Christmas cards. Were the babies happy for you to get home? Was the big baby happy for you to get home? Lush, come back here and tell us what's going on with you. My friend who is 39 just found out she's expecting baby #2! Baby # 1 will be 18 months old when the new arrival gets here. Can you imagine??? I'm exhausted just thinking about it. Cherry, have you used any of the Firm tapes? Are they worth the $$$$'s? I'm thinking of buying their latest infomercial offering. It has 3 tapes, a weight stick thingie and their "fanny lifter" (do you really think there's any hope?) for 3 eeeeezy monthly payments of 29.95. What do you think? Sounds like alot of money, but I've given up the idea that I might actually join a gym. Once I'm home after work, I know better than to think I'd go out into the dark, cold night to work out. We had exactly zero trick or treaters. Kiwi, did you see any ghosts in that cemetery? You can brag all you want about DD. You deserve to. |
I agree about the bragging on your DD Kiwi----I wish I could hear her at the coffeehouse----She and my dd could do a duet----we had a coffeehouse last week at the highschool ---i LOVE them!!!-----Wabby---thanks for the peptalk last week-----after a DISATEROUS Hallowe'en week I have calmed down, boxed up the junk to take to my sister the music teacher to use as bribes and am ready to contritely count points----I have FIRM tapes===== I think they are good if you actually do them but as Cherry and LUsh and cowP will attest---the ladies are serious TARTS!!!!!!! skanky tarts.
