chit chat #12
Welcome everyone,
We are a group of ladies who support each other through all of life's ups & downs, not just weight loss. Won't you join us? Angie |
Had to make a new thread....lol
HELLO everyone,,,what a week eh? is it Monday yet? my day off and boy I need it. Jana,,,I am in love with your newest family member. I am praying my brother and SIL will have a baby and I can have someone to spoil rotten! Marti,,,this was your first test? If so I will give you the same speach I gave Tanner this past week when he came home with a 33% in math. Failing the first test is good,,,we know where we have to go in getting you where you should be. Would suck if it was your last test right? And if you knew all the things in math you wouldn't have to take it. *does that make sense to you? Cause it made sense to him and his teacher used my speach to her other kids. And now finally KAYCEE!!!! Welcome back Girl! Have to say we have missed you, made a few comments when you were first MIA. In Canada we have Thanksgiving early,,,don't know why,,,crazy really. Should be after Halloween so all the pumpkins not used can go to pumpkin pie...mmmmm pie Anyways I ended up working and didn't get any pie or mashed potatoes and turnips,,,,OMG I love turnips and potatoes mashed. I had surgery last Thursday, the procedure is called an abalation, which is scalding the first layer of the uterus. They used a balloon and burning liquid. Had the surgery at 10 and was asking for Peter's drive-in (famous for their burgers) at noon....lol I feel great,,,thought I would be in alot of pain and really its not bad,,,just like bad cramps, but considering how my periods were,,,Id do this again if I had to. What this does is stops or slows down the bleeding,,which Im really cool with. Id get periods that were so heavy, and would go for weeks. Im anemic and this was one option the others where live with it or a hysterectomy. Gee lets see, Tanner's rehearsals are going great,,,Im so proud of him,,,(hes in Jesus Christ Superstar) My play is almost closing in,,,first week of Nov...Im nervous and excited,,,its so awesome,,the music is contagious,,,and the dancing is very physical. My eating has been good,,,pretty clean. I have a couple more weeks till I can go back to the gym. My shoulder feels good too,,,the cortisone shot worked! Well I have more to say but I don't want to be a post hog...lol ttfn Angie |
Hey ladies...
Accidentally posted this in 11 instead of 12. OOPS! Cut and paste!!! Hope everythings good for you all. Angie...sounds like surgery went well. Im glad to hear your not in any pain. And Happy Thanksgiving by the way! I wish I could be home to celebrate it with my family. But nooo....I have to wait until next month! I know what you mean about the training. When I started my last job, I had to do tow weeks of training at the Seattle store, plus 4 days in California at the head office. I left with a butt load of paper and training material. Its good that you get to enjoy the perks of the job. Im sure all those new clothes make it all worthwhile. Jana...Yayyy! She got a digital camera. Hubby and I just bought a little cheapie one too. I needed it to get all my junk listed on ebay. But it has been used for one or two pics of the dogs too! So, how's the baby doing? Is she home now? How are the twins settling into sisterhood? She is such a little cutie...but youre right..there were a few on there that looked like little aliens. Marti...OP you ask??? Personally not doing that well. I havent been to the gym in ages. Eating has been ok. Im not perfect by far, but Im not gorging on junkfood. So Im kind of maintaining. I havent weighed myself in ages, and dont plan to! Not until I get back to the gym. Im sorry to hear that you flunked the test. Getting a tutor is a great idea, and Im sure it will make a world of difference. Good luck on the next one!! Can I get Jhanai's autograph now, maybe I can sell it on ebay in 20 years and make a fortune!!! Kaycee...good to see you! No horse advice for you. The biggest animal I ever owned was a German Shepherd. Are you shopping around for one, or have you found one? Owning a horse sounds like alot of fun, but alot of work. Keep us updated. Christie..nice to see you to! If it makes you feel any better, I havent been to the gym either, and I have no medical excuses. Are you able to go now? I just like to keep in mind that it not like Im NEVER going back....just not right this second. Well, the hubby is still hurtin pretty bad, and making life rough around here. He gets mad when he cant do things fast enough, so his temper is flaring. I help him as much as I can, but just generally try to stay out of his way. I hope that doesnt sound bad. Im just getting frustrated with his temper tantrums. He finally has an appt with the doc that did his last surgery, and is getting an MRI tomorrow. My little ebay and amazon business is running full force, and doing better than I expected. I listed a book for $3.99, and it sold for $41!!! I listed two other sets of books by the same author, one at $33.99 and the other ar $29.99. One went for $138, and the other for $178!!!!!! Also sold a box set of Beatles CDs for $225. So...cant say that Im not earning my keep this month!!!! Im am definintely hooked. Well ladies..gotta get some housecleaning done. Ive been neglecting it, and have to climb Mount Washmore once again. If Im not back soon, send in search and rescue! Take care of yourselves.... Michelle |
Good Afternoon Ladies :sunny:
Wow Angie, even though you said the surgery wasn't bad it sounded painful, OUCH! The things we women have to deal with and go through. I have painful periods once in a while, more times than not since losing number 4, but exercising and eating right really helps. Glad to hear your shoulder is fine. Boy, I got the shot last week and when I made the appointment my shoulder was hurting. By the time I got to see the dr. it wasn't but since having the shot it has since. I'll see her Friday so hoping to get a prescription for the ibuprofin (sp?). Kayecee, my dh works in the aircraft industry but he has a bunch of paid days (sick & vacation) he hasn't taken so once in a while he will take a well deserved day off. We had a nice time at the Zoo and then had a late lunch-early dinner and then did some shopping-a lot of walking! Hope you guys have fun this weekend and your dh gets a kill. Michelle, I don't go to the gym. We have a treadmill, exercise bike and weights at home that I normally do. Just haven't been. I do mostly walking outdoors or on the treadmill, the stationary bike & my WATP video, just haven't felt up to it the past few weeks. I haven't done much weight training as they are out in the garage and over the summer it was too hot. Now that it has cooled off I may try to do a little. But yes, I am able to get back to it now. My back tends to go out on me once in a while and mostly when I gain a few pounds, which I did. But I did weigh in this morning (couldn't wait till Friday!) and I am down 2 pounds. I hope you hubby gets better soon. Geez, you are making a killin' on ebay! Marti, hope you are having a great day in school. Jana, are ya having fun with the new grandbaby and camera? Well, ladies I need to be getting off soon. 30 mintues to Dr. Phil and I don't want to miss it. I also need to get in a walk today and get some laundry done. EVERYONE have a great day ladies! TTFN |
Hey Y'all!
Well, looks like I have a little time to post tonight after all. My Avon didn't come in  so now I have to stress all weekend about coming home to sort out orders. Oh well, it's good money right before Christmas and it's really not that bad. I am also getting a LOT of great gifts at really good prices. I usually don't start Christmas shopping until December, so I am on a roll! :gift:
BTW, I glanced through the bios a little- pardon my asking, but what exactly is "the reach"? Michelle- OMG, I can't believe y'all are still talking about Mount Washmore! LOL I added my bio last night and I think that was the last thing I said. Is the e-bay thing a lot of trouble? Where are you finding your books and stuff? We already have a horse picked out! We are supposed to pick it up this weekend if we can find a trailer. Angie- Glad you are doing o.k. :balloons: I had the depo-provera shot right after my little boy was born. My period turned into the energizer bunny and kept going and going and going... My doctor said it was just breakthrough bleeding and- dumb me- I let him talk me into getting another! :sorry: I had my son in June and didn't stop until almost February! :faint: It's definitely an experience I wouldn't wish on anyone! (Well, maybe my MIL)  Good vibes for the plays! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes Cristi- It's my turn to make you jealous! I came home and my DH is waiting on me outside. He covers my eyes and whispers that he got me something shiny that I will love! (DIAMOND RING?!? I have been hinting for one for my next birthday- I lost my wedding ring in our fire last year! ) He leads me in the house... anticipation building... I open my eyes... there it is.... a NEW KITCHEN FAUCET!!! :faint: Not only did he have it installed- he EVEN cleaned out the sink cabinet! :spin: Now ain't that romantic? LOL *sigh* Shoulda known! But I do love that man! Well, gotta go tackle some more of Mount Washmore so that I can finish packing for the weekend. I'll see y'all Sunday! |
HAPPY FRIDAY LADIES!
Hi All! Hope EVERYONE is having a great day. :sunny:
Kayecee, that is too funny! Well, it is something shiny! Bummer, it wasn't the something shiny you wanted. He is probably saving to that something shiny for a special day. I love Avon! I haven't ordered anything though in years, don't know of anyone who sells it and always forget to go online. Many, many years ago my sister and mother sold it. I am the same and don't usually start Christmas shopping till December. Even though I always say I am going to do it early, it never happens. Actually, I did get a couple of things for DD a couple of weeks ago. It will be easy as I know what I am going to get everyone, made a list yesterday. It is just a matter of getting out and doing the shopping. Marti, hope you had a fun day in school. Jana, hope you are enjoying those grandbabies, which I know you are. Hi Michelle, Angie, Kat, Carree and anyone else I missed! I spent the morning going to the chiro and taking dd to the doctor to have some small moles removed. Man, it sure felt good to have my neck and back popped. Not much else going on. I am going to try and add a new avatar-a picture of me and my doggie. We'll see what happens. Well, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I may check back later. Take care ladies. :flow1: |
Hello oh jaded ones,
Cristi - welcome back, girlfriend!! Hope all your ailments are better! Your day w/DH sounded just so sweet. Marti - :cp: YAY for your good grade on the Business English Exam!! Your horse story was too funny! I peed my pants as an adult, too. I was in my 20's, and the guy I was seeing at the time thought it would be real funny to hide in my bathroom and surprise me. Not knowing he was even in the house, I opened the door, it was dark, and I could see a man's outline, and I proceeded to wet myself royally! He felt like a butt (which he was, by the way) and I was so embarrassed but it's funny now! Kaycee - awww, I think the shiny new faucet is sweet! I've had some crappy faucets in the past, and really really appreciate the ones I have now! They Bling Bling in the kitchen and baths!! (well, when I clean them, that is!) Speaking of bathrooms: The Reach - so coined by our own Kat - is about a discussion we had a while back regarding the correlation of increased body weight and increased difficulty with the "paperwork" in the bathroom. The bigger the fanny, the harder "the reach". :o Michelle - the baby is home now and Mary has a real good routine going already. Her hubby helps a lot when he is not at work, thank goodness. The twins are doing okay with it now, but the first couple of days, they each scrambled for mama's attention. Hope your DH is better! How'd the mri go? Wow, girl, you are makin' out like a bandit on ebay and amazon! I wish I had the energy to do something like that. Angie - good luck with the play. It will be opening night before you know it! Neal and I went to see Runaway Jury tonight, a movie based on the John Grisham novel. I would highly recommend it! John Cusak and Gene Hackman both gave stellar performances. Tomorrow is my son's birthday, so everyone will be here for dinner. I am looking forward to that! For whoever asked - I have to say I am not OP. And the thing is, I am miserable about it and feel guilty with every no-no bite I take. :( I am beginning to think that I am a hopeless case. I mean, what, for God's sake, is it going to take for me to lose these pounds that I am packing around everyday??? What is my payoff for staying fat???? Wow, I did not mean to write a book! Be good and I'll talk to you tomorrow. Jana |
Cristi, you and I had the same kinda day. I did the chiropractor thing early,,,relieved alot of pressure,,,(tension) and I felt sooooo good. Then off to the drs. so Brandon can get his flu shot.
I did get in some pampering thou,,,got my nails filled and a pedicure,,hadn't had one in years,,,the barnicals are gone! Well I should get going,,,, I have to find this cool story,,,and cut and paste it for all of you to read. ttfn Angie |
The Dash
A man took a student to the cementary and he picked out a grave stone. He asked the young man what was the most important thing on the gravestone. The young man thought a while and decided it was the saying on the bottome of the gravestone. "No, that is not the most important." Ok, then the day he was born? "No." The day he died? "No." His name? "No." The young man was confused and finally gave up. The man said the most important thing on the gravestone is the dash, because that represents everything that you did while on this earth |
Angie - here's a poem written by Linda Ellis in 1996.
The Dash I read of a man, who stood to speak, at the funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates to be put on her tombstone, from the beginning - to the end. He noted that first came the date of her birth, And spoke of the following date with tears, But he said what mattered most of all, was the DASH between those years. For that DASH represents all the time that she spent alive on earth, And now only those who loved her know what that little line is worth. For it matters not how much we won; The cars…the house…the cash. What matters is how we live and love, and how we spend our "DASH." So think about this long and hard… Are there things you'd like to change? For you never know how much time is left. (You could be at "DASH mid-range.") If we could just slow down enough to consider what's true and real, And love the people in our lives, like we've never loved before. If we treat each other with respect and more often wear a smile… Remembering that our special DASH might only last awhile. So, when your eulogy is being read, with your life's actions to rehash… Would you be proud of the things they say, about how you spent your DASH? Hope everyone is having a great Sunday. TTFN, Jana |
Thank you Jana,,,,
So hows your Dash going? Angie |
Happy Monday morning ladies,
Angie - I guess we were all by ourselves yesterday! Hope everyone was out having lots of fun. Hello everybody! You wouldn't believe what I got Neal for Christmas. He asked for new binoculars, and I found some that have a built in digital camera! So when you focus in, it can take a pic of whatever. Is that cool or what?? He likes to watch the birds, deer and coyotes out here in the country. They were on sale at Target (Tar - zhay, dahling!) for $70.00!! I still have some things to buy for Katie, Mary, Dale and the twins. I am giving Disney Dollars to the new baby, since she doesn't need anything at all. But I am totally done with Neal, Fern, my son Terry, Gina, and her two daughters. What's on your agenda today? Have a good one! Jana |
Hello ladies
How is everyone doing this Monday morning? Here, the wind is blowing like crazy!! And it's WARM wind! It bizarre. James and I are thinking we have some crazy storm coming our way.
Well, I had a busy weekend. Well maybe not too busy. James and I cleaned up our back yard. He cleaned up the patio area and I raked up all the leaves. I chose the more strenuous job so I could get a workout out of it. And boy did I! I had a talk w/James about wanting to "see" better results in my weight. I asked him if I were to go on a diet and workout if he would join me. Well he's not into "diets" he's just into choosing healthier foods and finding the right amount of protein to eat while working out. So I suggested Atkins, just to try it and see if I could live with it and actually get results. He told me that is probably one "diet" that he agree's most with. And so he agreed to start this with me on November 1st. The more I read the book, the more I realized that a lot of it is what James has told me over the years we've been together. It's worth a try. I've realized that I love high carbed foods. So at least with trying this, I can learn to not eat so much of it. Does that make sense? It almost sounds like I'm not really committed to doing this, but I'm just leary about not being able to eat certain foods that I really enjoy. But who knows, I may find that this really works as is the right way for me to go. And I also decided to post on the Atkin forum and ask some questions. I did this yesterday morning sometime. I checked it today and my post was at the very bottom. With not ONE repsonse. And for some reason, that got to me that no one decided to at least answer one question...I didn't feel very welcomed... so I deleted the whole post. Sounds like immature thinking doesn't it. Well, it's deleted already so can't go back. Well I could, but I typed quite a bit. I gave a little history about me and so on. Oh well. Today in one of my classes I was thinking hard about why I started losing the battle with controlling my eating. And I realized that it started way back when I was a kid. You see, I didn't get out of control until after my daughter was already two. I always weighed around 115-120. Then I ballooned to 175lbs.+ (I finally quit weighing myself when I saw that figure) So I decided to give myself some kind of closure or give myself a kind of therapy session, to write it all down. And list everything that I can think of. Does that sound crazy to any of you?? Ok, I think I've rambled on and on here... wondering if I'm making any sense. I think I'm going to take a nap. It's already been a long morning and TOM is just around the corner.... I feel the presence.....:dizzy: Take care ladies Marti Oh yeah- I'm sorry if any of this was not positive...like the posting with atkins..... I just really needed to write it down. Thank you all for listening. |
There are alot of people who never think about why they gain weight,,,I blame mine on stress...pathetic excuse but its the best one I got other then I love food darnit and I can't resist.
Jana, Im thinking of getting Monte a rear spoiler for his car to make it look like a sports car...lol And since its his birthday I think more clothes,,,the boy is growing,,,had to buy him a larger sized pants for work today,,,and all the while he was walking to our room to try them on he was going on about there is NO WAY he can wear that large of a size....lol Then fit nice and snug infact...lol poor baby. Brandon wan'ts music videos dvds Tanner wants an MP3...all easy stuff, infact Im close to being done,,,only have my step father,,and I have no clue. Better run, JC rehearsal tonight. Angie |
Hey Y'all!
Well, I had a full weekend. We left Friday as soon as school was out. I got up Saturday morning and went yard saling (k- so that ain't a word). I didn't score a lot- got DH a gas jug for 50 cents and a few knick knacks for me. I actually- OMG- cooked Saturday night. I coulda beat DH. I made a lovely beef roast, seasoned it well, put reynold's wrap over it, and said- and I quote- "Honey, all you have to do is put it on the grill." :chef: Then SIL and I left to go shopping again. I get back and what is the first thing I see beside the sink? A BARBEQUE SAUCE LID!!!! :censored: It tasted horrible!! Does anyone else's hubby have to add every sauce in the kitchen to everything they touch? :rollpin: Oh well. LOL
We got our horse yesterday. She is beautiful. Did y'all know you can buy collision insurance on a horse? I died laughing when my insurance agent told me I needed it. So now, for $39 a year, my horse is insured for collisions. Learn something new every day! :dz: Cristi- I have never been to the chiro before. I think he would probably have back problems if he tried to pop my back. LOL I hope you can get your avatar up. Angie- Pedicures are soooo relaxing. I need one so bad right now. I know what you mean about the barnacles! I'm afraid I will cut my chihuahua when he lays down by my feet at night! Jana- Oooohhhh! Thanks for explaining The Reach. I can definitely relate! LOL I think mine has surpassed to the Swipe and Pray. LOL Hope you're enjoying the baby. I'm jealous of all the shopping you've finished. :p Confession- I'm not OP either. Don't ask me what the payoff is for being fat- dang if I know why that southern comfort food calls me. :( Marti- Don't be too discouraged. It's good that James is willing to do it with you. I have visited other sites, but I have not found one yet that is as friendly and helpful as this one. I know what you mean about being leery of giving up food groups. Before you decide to do Atkin's, check out the Southbeach websites. Southbeach (SB) is low-carb, but not to the extreme of Atkin's. You can enjoy more veggies, dairy, and whole grains. It also emphasizes leaner cuts of meat. There is a really helpful forum here about the SB on 3FC. It has a list of foods allowed on the SB. Good luck! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes Well, I guess I need to DASH (loved it). See y'all later. |
