Good morning everyone.
I am working from home today and tomorrow too. I usually work fron home on Thursdays, that is one of thr Flexible work arrangements we have available at work and I decided last year to take advantage of it. I really enjoy it.

My boss is on vacation this week and he was ok with me working from home all week if I wanted. I decided only Wed and Thursday. I decided on today since the concert is tonight. That way we can leave earlier than if I was working in the office.

Annie: I hope Sassy got some help from the vet and I hope J is on the mend too.

I also listen to KLove, usually on my way to work. It keeps me from yelling at all the idiot drivers. Lol

Laura: i didnt realize you were on a locamotive type train. How was aqua fit last night?

Happy: I am sorry to hear that news about Medow. What did you find out from the vet?

Hi to Ceejay and Shad.

I am off to get my workout in this morning before starting work at 8 am. That is another perk about working from home.
I will stay in my workout clothes all day until I take a shower around lunchtime and get ready for the concert.

Have a great day everyone!

annie175 08-02-2017 08:53 AM

Wow WICKED Wednesday...

Prayers for my Sassy girl. She did not pass whatever is in her tummy last night. Surgery is this morning. Her pain meds wore off and it was a long night. I put her in the lazy boy and me on the couch. Yep I woke up at every moan, groan or movement she had. She was really in pain this morning when I took her to the vet. Of course I said a prayer over her before I left her then cried on the way to work.

HAPPY... I believe the more you say your are taking time off from volunteering the more you do. Your life is just crazy busy right now. Can't imagine if you had a full time job also. JUST SAY NO!!! Do post pics of the landscaping, I would love to see them. C is trying to eat cleaner for the moment. You know how long it lasts for him. A couple of months. Whoa that is a LOT of boxes of books to pack. Just remember to take care of YOUR needs first. Hugs sweet friend.

LAURA..hope the entry door installation goes smoothly. Are you still enjoying your aqua class?

Hugs and loves. Need to go to page 3 and read.

annie175 08-02-2017 08:56 AM

OK...HAPPY...how is Meadow, do report back after the vet visit. Must be the week for animals instead of us.

SUSIE...I just can't work from home.. I have tried and get caught up in too many other things to even work. Oh laundry it won't take but a second. Empty the dishwasher maybe 5 minutes. Oh look the carpet needs vacuumed....on and on....work, what is working from home. I work AT home instead. lol. How's your exercising coming along and the OP eating. You are doing such a great job of it. Have fun at the concert. Hugs.

All for now from me. Make it a great day/night.

annie175 08-02-2017 11:15 AM

11:15 am nothing from vet yet. This is so hard.

annie175 08-02-2017 11:47 AM

Sass is out of surgery. She did very well. Just a mass of compacted dog food. Probably from gobbling and not just eating slowly. Which she never really does but has been lately. Little goofball. I can pick her up around 4 pm.

Laura705 08-02-2017 12:33 PM

Morning all. Not thrilled with work today. And the boss set up a meeting this afternoon for something that came up nearly two months ago and now it’ll be a rush-rush thing. As a boss, he’s a major disappointment. And that's putting it mildly.

Annie – So glad to hear that Sassie got through the surgery and did well. Hope that doesn’t happen again!! Does she eat fast so Bruno can’t get her food? Coal always scarfed his food down – he’d even gag sometimes from taking such big gulps. We ended up buying a suction thingy that we stuck into the center of his food bowl so he had to eat around it. It definitely slowed him down. == Aqua fit is okay. Not my favorite, so I’m counting down the classes I have left on my pass. Yesterday was about half cardio type moves and it was sort of boring. The strength part was good.

Susie – Nice to be working from home for a couple days. Enjoy your concert tonight!

Happy – Sorry to hear Meadow isn’t doing well. :( I hope the vet can help her. == Sounds like you’ve been super busy – hectic time for you. I hope you can slow down some with the volunteer activities after the big fundraiser is over next week. == I’d love to see photos of your landscaping. I need some ideas, LOL. :D == Oh, what a bummer for your mom to be losing her doctor to retirement. I hope you can find out where the other doctor ends up so she doesn’t have to lose two docs. == Enjoy your supper at the senior center.

Hellos to Ceejay and Shad.
==
Nothing much to report. Aqua fit was okay. I’m looking forward to finishing up my pass and trying to do my own exercise. I also check out what other classes I might be able to do that won’t bother my foot since fall sessions will be starting all too soon.

The woman who has taken the daylilies off my hands a couple times in the past has not picked up the latest batch. I posted them on 3 of my FB garage sale groups yesterday afternoon, but they were still at the curb this morning. I hope they don’t die out there. They’ve been out there since Sunday afternoon. If they’re still there when I get home from work, I’ll put up a “FREE” sign.

That’s about it for me. On with the day.

PS - Happy - can't see the photo. Unless it's the one about third party hosting, in which case - I don't get it...:?:

happy2bme 08-02-2017 12:51 PM

Sorry I should clean up the text in these pictures but they were a pain to upload as the website is super slow and annoying. Please let me know if you can / can't see the pictures - otherwise I will just post on FB since you all can see them there.

The vet said Meadow can be throwing up because she is nauseated - the diabetes. She has lost a pound and a half since the last visit. Up to then she was holding her weight. No doubt she lost because she has been upchucking. I will have to make sure she has steady food all the time - she licks alot of the broth from the wet food. They took a blood test and we will get the results tomorrow. I am hoping we have more time with her but we don't want her to suffer.

It's still stupid busy here. I again have spent all morning on emails. We don't have enough volunteers and don't have enough coverage for the weekend. I will go in on Sunday to help but mostly spend my time with books. STOP ALREADY PEOPLE.

Laura - sorry the boss is a bummer - people don't get promoted any more because of sheer talent and ability. :( Sorry you must suffer for it. Ugh - sounds like the exercise classes are not that challenging for you. That's unfortunate. Is your foot still tender to exercise?

Annie - I am so very glad to hear that Sassy made it through surgery. Just because she ate too fast? Wow. Yes, they have those bowls that look like donut makers with the raised center edge that slows them down from eating too fast. We had to get one of them when Nina was a baby because she scarfed her food without chewing it. They work pretty well. So does a bundt baking pan  Yes, working from home takes alot of discipline. I considered it a big privilege so I always made sure I did my work and even worked longer hours but got alot done. DH on the other hand - like you - got very distracted

Susie - you are so right about a perk from work from home that you can get in a morning workout. I used to work with a trainer on my WFH days and I loved it. Yay for getting back on the exercise again - although it's more about being taken away from it than forgetting about it. Get lots done today!

And now it's lunch and I have blown the whole morning and not touched a thing from my to do list. So I'm going to walk away from the computer and get busy.

Have a good day everyone.

Shad 08-02-2017 03:36 PM

happy2bme 08-02-2017 04:17 PM

thanks for letting me know - I will post on Facebook instead because the thumbnails on 3FC will be too small to see anything.

annie175 08-03-2017 08:51 AM

Good Morning. Thank God this week is almost over. I am exhausted with working and trying to doctor/care for Ms Sass. She did much better last night. She hates the cone collar. I would too. I had to drop her back at the vet for observation today. They have no overnight staff so can't leave her there. She didn't whimper hardly any last night and seem to sleep in her cage well. Only about 3 times I had to get up and talk to her. Still interrupted sleep makes me tired the next day. Then C left his phone in the living room where I am sleeping by Sass and it went off at 4am. Oh geez I dang near took it to the bedroom and threw it at his head. lol Didn't was to break the expensive pap machine that is paid for now. Up for the day after that. WHen Sass comes home today she will be on 3 meds, one for pain, an antibiotic and the other I forget what it is. I said please make them liquid if you can. Easier to get her to take them. She is too smart for the sticking pills in food business. Plus she cannot have any food to speak of. She will be on prescription dog food. Has to be low fat, which goes against my KETO way of eating. bahahahahhaha :) Oh and she has pancreatitis. Lo fat is what will help with that. HAPPY...the scarfing of food was probably from getting in the trash part. She doesn't scarf her dog food. First day of treatment was $285. Yesterday they gave me a break on the surgery ONLY $1325. instead of $1600. as estimated. Hows that for a bargain. lol.

On a good note, my shoulder/arm is feeling better and better each day. The doc said it would take about a week to feel the most of it. I can at least rest my head on my hand of that arm without pain. Noticed it last night as I was watching the tube. C and I are watching The 100. Kind of a weird space/earth series but now too hooked and involved in it to quit watching it. It is on Netflix.

HAPPY...I know in my heart that whatever you decide for Meadow it will be what is best for her, not for you. It is easy to be selfish and want them to stay knowing it is not good for M. You are a great fur momma. I may adopt you for me. Hugs my dear friend. The biggest thing on Sassy's food will be keeping her out of Bruno's food. He loves her food and she loves his food. They are nutty. OHHHhhhhh can't wait to get to the commune. It looks B E A U T I F U L!! The updates, renos are such an improvement. Love love love. Thanks for posting on FB..

LAURA...some bosses are just not worth the cells they are made from. Bummer you have to suffer his rath of untimeliness. Maybe the daylilly lady has her fill of them.?? Maybe chair exercises like CHELLE used to do to accommodate your foot. Just a thought. I am good at advice on exercise for not doing any. hahha.

Best get busy. I have not been at all productive this week at work. Hugs ladies.

ceejay52 08-03-2017 01:03 PM

I went to get my x-ray done yesterday morning and got an email on the way home from the gym that I had messages in my chart online. The x-ray shows that I have degenerative disc in the neck area with multi facets of arthritis. I'm sure it is a sign of age and all the hard work I've done over the past 24 years. My doctor could not believe that I'd worked that long in one place. Also had my vitamin b12, d and iron checked on Tuesday. B12 and D are still low but are coming up. My iron and hematocrit are back in the normal range. In my opinion, I don't think my body is making b12.
Went to the gym yesterday also and rode for 30 minutes on the recumbent bike. It's easier on my foot. When I get the courage I need to have the bunion fixed. I have one pair of shoes that I can wear other than my tennis shoes.
Nephew came last night after his counselling session and wanted to play scrabble. It was a good game.
I watered the back yard last night and I heard it pouring down rain early this morning. Didn't hear any thunder though. We are supposed to get some more rain tonight. It's made August tolerable so far.
Was sitting on the deck this morning and saw a small woodpecker. Also saw a hummingbird so I need to put out some food for it.
My metronome came yesterday and it sure is helping me keep my rhythm correct. My piano teacher when I was younger used one of those to make me play my music faster. I kept saying alright Mrs. Gray (teacher) to myself.

---------
Happy,
I'm really impressed with how the house and lawn look. You are one lucky person. It's beautiful. Thank you for your input about trust. That helped to shed some light about nephew's wife.

Annie
Poor little Sassy. Lucky she has you and Sam for a mommy.

Laura
I did the push ups yesterday but only 50 and my arms are still sore but not bad. Just enough to tell me to keep going.

happy2bme 08-03-2017 02:59 PM

Howdy chicks,

Spent the morning in a round robin of emails. :dizzy: It's cold and raining heavily. At least things got watered. Thank you for the comments about the commune - we are trying to make it nice for you ladies :D

Got WONDERFUL news about Meadow this morning. Outside of elevated blood sugar from the diabetes - the vet said she is in Fantastic shape. Everything is is REMARKABLY and unbelievably great. She said to try a new dry cat food that may help with the nausea. So far Meadow is not interested in it but give her time. $40 for a 5 pound bag - heck this girl is eating tenderloin!!!! But at least she is not terminal so I am happy. DH got a new rug cleaner today to keep up with her.

Ceejay - you sound similar to me with the vitamin shortages. The doctor said I have Pernicious Anemia - it means that my body has a hard time ABSORBING vitamin B - that's why I get the booster shots every other month although I am 3 weeks overdue for my last shot. :o I tend to forget as well as taking the Vitamin D tablets. I guess it's a sign of aging that so many ladies are lacking in these 2 critical vitamins. I guess when you have a hard enough time with shoes fitting, it will persuade you to get the bunion surgery. And that's all I will say about that. ;) That was a cute memory you had of your music teacher - made me smile. Thank you for the comments on the house - yes I do feel lucky and blessed although part of me says we both worked very hard for things too. I am glad we are healthy and have "enough" - enough for what we need, enough to enjoy a little bit of life. I'm also glad we are not terribly bitten by the urge to travel as that can also drain the pocketbook quickly although at this point we would love to go somewhere - at least for a week.

Annie - OMG - $1300 for the vet bills. :faint: :faint: :faint: ours was just short of $300 for Meadow - now I will shut up. Holy geez louisers !!!! But they are our babies. Why is C's phone going off at 4am?? I hope you can get back on track for sleep - you have far to much to do to be sleep deprived. I'm glad your arm is feeling better but PLEASE do your therapy. Cortisone masks the pain and reduces inflammation but it is not a cure all. Strengthen that arm back up before the shot wears off. PLEASE!!!

I started to watch the Handmaid's Tale on Hulu. Got through about 4 episodes. I will have to find time to watch the rest. Not sure I want to keep my subscription to Hulu - DH didn't find anything of interest for him.

2pm. I haven't gotten anything here done. Need to go through the fridge and freezer to purge things for garbage day. Only one more trash day until the new fridge and freezer come so trying to clean things out ahead of time.

Have a good day everyone. Cold and rainy here. Not really up for bingo tonight, especially with stronger storms moving in but they are depending on me. At least my partner won't have to worry about people trying to come to his golf range to play while he is at bingo tonight...

Laura - where are you? Buried in that crisis project your boss sat on???

How's the reno going Shad?

Hi Susie

Laura705 08-03-2017 03:33 PM

Afternoon all. Busy morning spent on the rush-rush stuff for the boss. Back from a quick/late lunch, so I’ll get in a post.

Happy – Great news about Meadow! I hope she’ll adjust to the new food. == Your new landscaping is gorgeous, along with all the changes to the house. What a giant deck! So what are the two tree-looking things on the south side of the house? == We’re getting similar weather as you in the next day or two. I won’t mind the change too much as long as we don’t get endless rain. That gets old fast.
Annie – Sounds like Sassy’s recovery is coming along. How tiring for you to work all day and then be nurse to her at night. But that’s what a good mom does. Oh, and become a pauper paying the vet bills – that’s a LOT of money!!! A new diet and meds for her – what a challenge. You might have to feed her and Bruno in separate rooms!! I don’t think I have to go as far as chair exercises to avoid too much stress on my foot, but I’ll give it some thought. Before I register for any more classes, I’ll do some workouts at home and see what works best. You wouldn’t think that mat Pilates would be an issue – a lot of work on the floor on a mat, but there’s also standing work that involves getting up on tip-toes for balance moves. No good. But then there’s squats, in which your weight is on your heels, not toes, so the top of the foot isn’t getting stressed. Just a matter of figuring it out.
Ceejay – Sorry to hear about the arthritis in the neck. Another thing to try and treat and work around in your daily life. Sigh. I have a feeling I might end up with bunion surgery someday. But right now it doesn’t bother me if I don’t wear flip flops and if I don’t wear shoes that are too narrow for me. It doesn’t bother me if I wear supportive shoes. Which is limiting. When I see other people walking around in flip flops, half the time I feel they’re being stupid about their feet, and half the time I’m envious they can wear them with apparently no problem…for the time being! == Good job on the pushups!

Susie – How was the concert last night? I think the Lollapalooza festival going on here will suffer from storms going through this afternoon and evening…

Shad – I hope the project is going well. What’s the current estimate for completion?

Hellos to Susie and Shad. :)

==
The door guy was at the house from about 11 am until 9 pm yesterday. There’s a lot more work to installing a new door when the house is old and nothing is standard size. But now we have a new door, new jamb, and new trim around the door on the inside. And we ended up getting a new storm door for free. Our old one was apparently a custom size (I didn’t recall that when we got it, but it must have been.) And our new entry was redone to be a standard size, so we ended up getting the same door but in a standard size. Dunno why it was comped to us, but I’m not gonna ask. So the door was open pretty much all day. For part of the time, the installer had the entry area closed off with plastic because of all the dust being created, but when I got home, it was partially down. So we had some insects indoors. I killed several, but I don’t think there are many more lingering or we would have probably been bitten up overnight. One thing to get accustomed to is locking the door behind us when we leave the house. Our previous door had the lock in the handle. This one’s a deadbolt. Also , the doorbell no longer fits where it used to be so I don’t know what we’ll do about that. I’d hate to have to drill through the brick just to run the wire through for the doorbell. Hmmm. Anyway, bf was impressed by the precision of the installer, and everything seems to be done properly. Then again, I really didn’t have much of an opportunity to scrutinize it all last night or this morning. I’ll take a photo in the next day or two and get it posted so you can see it. Dang, don’t think I have a “before” photo. Oh well.

Tonight I’ll go to aquafit class.

That’s it for me.

Sitting at the vet with Sunday the cat. How is it that an 8:30am appointment is already running an hour late?? 😗🙄😣. As if I don't have anything else to do. Sunday has developed an eye problem so I am at the vet specialist. More $$$$$.
Bathroom is waterproofed and tonight the tiler will be here to screed the floor. That's the beginning of the end since then the tiles will be laid and the fittings can go in. Looking forward to the toilet going in more than anything else.

Apparently the vet isn't even here yet. Bummer.

Loved the photos on Facebook Happy. You will all be very comfortable in the commune.

Something is stirring in the eye department of the vets. Maybe. Just maybe they might be ready for me.

annie175 08-04-2017 08:22 AM

Oh what a night, late December back in '63...A song for HAPPY's head. :)

Actually not a bad night. Got to bed a little later than I wanted. Sassy stayed in her cage pretty peacefully last night. I stayed in my bed pretty peacefully. She is doing well. Eating a bit. Just waiting on her poo situation. Pain meds are messing with her poo. She loves her "special" food. Hopefully this will continue.

I made a fabulous dinner. Pork rind parmesan crusted pork chops baked. Very tasty. Fried radishes and cauliflower sides. Everyone raved.

This dumb thing is acting weird.

Will come back in a bit.

Hugs

annie175 08-04-2017 11:41 AM

Came back but no better. Keeps jumping around. Nerve racking...

HAPPY...Good news on Meadow's front. Is she on special food? Cs alarm goes off at 4am for him to leave by 4:30. Sometimes he beats the alarms snooze for an hour. FOr this I could smack him. For the 3 day total on Sass it ended up being right at 2 grand. Makes me sick to think about it. She is my baby. No worries HAPPY my first and only PT is on Monday morning at 8:00am. I am going. Promise to do the exercises...maybe. :)

CEEG...bummer on the ole arther. Seems to run rapid with the worldlies. Did nephew come over to play games to escape wife? lol.

LAURA...sounds like they did a good job on the front door. Bet is looks awesome. Actually Bruno is be real sweet to Sassy. He is real slow moving around her and comes up and sniffs her face like he is saying he will take care of her. Last night he came over and plopped in front of the chair she and I were sitting in. Guard dog. lol. He is a HUGE baby.

SHAD...hope Sunday the cat is doing well. How did her appt come out? Reno's any closer to being done?

Have a wonderful weekend all. Hugs

happy2bme 08-04-2017 12:19 PM

Hi all,

Well I guess we all got whacked in the pocketbook with vet bills this week. Funny, I never remember joining a club ... I am glad that all the "kids" are doing well. I hope Shad that Miss Sunday's eye can be taken care of with drop and with minimal scratches to yourself. Tip I got from the vet was to approach them from behind their head when giving eye drops. Can't be fun no matter what...

Meadow barfed last night - this may be a usual thing. DH's new rug cleaner works well. She has yet to eat her new dry food. The vet said cat's love it (not ours) but keep it away from Nina because it's high fat and protein and Nina does not need more food to make her even more chubby.

Bingo went well. DH did not win even a single game. After 3 weeks he is about ready to give up. I said this supports the Meals on Wheels program - it's like making a future investment in us

It was so cold and rainy last night that I actually turned the heat on for a hour to take the chill out of the house. It's 58 now and overcast - still chilly . Fall is in the air.

Annie - I'm glad that Sassy is better and Bruno is also watching over her. Did you get a little more sleep last night? The last thing I am going to say to you about P.T. is that it won't hurt ME if YOU don't do your therapy work. BUT I have asked Mellie to poke you occasionally if you are slacking because we need your pitching arm  :lol3: You've been warned. ;) Thank you for the song that will be circling my head all day :stars: Those pork chops sound dandy fine and tasty. I will have to try that sometime. Not sure what to do for supper tonight...

Thanks for the compliments Shad - what?? you are not coming to live in the commune? You will get used to the winters - for sure. How is Sunday?

Laura - I don't remember Pilates with such foot movements but perhaps when I took mat Pilates they meant mat - but it's also been a long time since I have been in a class. That sounds like that would really stress your foot. Yay on getting your door comped!! Like you said - don't question it, count your blessings. And that was probably good that you have a standard sized door too.

Hello to Susie and Ceejay - I talked to Sis on the phone for an hour today and I am off my mark. Have to get busy before the afternoon thunderstorms move in.

Have a good day chicks.

Laura705 08-04-2017 01:06 PM

Morning all. We had an all-employee meeting this morning. It was held across the street at the building where we’ll be moving at the end of next year. We’ve had meetings there before, but this time the new office space was discussed. Well not so much our space, which is in the early planning stages. But staff from the building discussed the building, the renovations, and security. Massive renovations are planned, and I’m glad because the amenities currently in that building are nothing special for a building of its size and status (Sears/Willis Tower). So I’m happy we’re going to have great new amenities, but construction will still be going on when we move in and for several months after that. Oh well. Another thing to get accustomed to is taking two elevators to get to our office space. Not thrilled about that, but I’ll have to adapt.

Shad – I’d be very annoyed at a doctor running behind first thing in the morning! But I’m sure something must have come up. Hopefully he/she didn’t just decide to sleep in... Poor Sunday, I hope the eye problem is something that can be easily treated. :( Aging is crummy for everyone, human and furries alike. == Things appear to be moving along on the bath project. I’m sure having an indoor loo again will be a BIG relief. I only had to live through a few hours of our entry door install and was so happy when that was done. When we finally get to our bathroom reno someday it will not be a fun time. But worth it in the end, I’m sure.

Annie – Glad Sassy is getting her rest so her recovery goes more quickly. The only reason I brought up separate feeding areas for Sass and Bruno is that she can’t be eating his food - she needs to eat her special diet now. I’m glad they get along and that Bruno’s nice with her. == LOL re your comment about Ceej’s nephew stopping by – it also occurred to me that he might want a break from the wife for a bit. ;)

Happy – Discouraging for dh not doing well at bingo, but you're right, his money is going to a good cause. But he might just rather be at home watching something good on tv. Hey, did he ever catch his muskie?? == We’ve got the same chilly weather you’re getting. Maybe not as chilly or rainy, but this morning it’s overcast, windy, and only 60 degrees. Brrr!

Helllos to Susie and Ceejay.

Nothing much to report. I did the aqua fit class last night. If I ever mention doing a Thursday class again, remind me not to!! I just don’t like this class. I could not stop watching the clock! When I picked up my pass after class was over, a post-it note was on there saying I have three more classes left, which would be correct after I told the aquatics director that they double-scanned it a couple times.

So glad it’s Friday! I have no plans tonight, but I really should spend some time in the home office getting rid of some paper. Tomorrow morning is the document destruction event at the public works facility in town. I’ve been totally neglecting the office. I’ve been putting paperwork in the “in” box for month and it’s overflowing… Aargh.

Okay, gonna get this posted and run out for a quick lunch. Have a great weekend everyone.

MyChoice2bfit 08-04-2017 11:50 PM

Hello All,

I had a nice time at the concert....music is my therapy for everything!

I had a .04 gain at TOPS....no idea why. I have been eating at the top of my calorie range so this week I plan to eat more toward the lower middle and I am exercising more this week then I did the previous week so that should help towards next week.

Our new air conditioner was installed today. I worked from home today as well. My Director is out on vacation so it was easy to work that out. I did send him a email so that he knew.

Hair appointment in the morning. Like Laura, I need to tackle some piles in the office so that is on the schedule.

I am so glad that Sassy and Meadow are on the mend, and I hope the same thing for Sunday.....those fur babies are precious to their owners.

It is late and I am tried...I will post more over the weekend.

Evening all,
Been a busy day again.
Nephew came and screed and levelled the bathroom floors. He will be back in the morning to lay the floor tiles. Hopefully he might get some of the wall tiles in as well so we can get the toilet installed this week. I must remember to ask him. Photos attached. The first are the tiles to be laid. The creamy one is the floor tile, the white and mosaics are for the walls. The second is my nephew on his knees screeding the area where the shower will be.

Sunday the cat is just plain getting old. Her eye is okay, although he mentioned the beginnings of a cataract. She no longer has full function of the muscles that change the size of the pupil. One eye is fine the other not. There is no hypertension there such as often seen in cats that have hyperthyroid. So she carries on a bit longer.

I've been in the garden all morning and fed, watered and mulched the vege patch. Photos attached. Lots of green tomatoes on the plants that you can see. Slowly ripening. I'm picking two or three per day. The potatoes are looking good and I dug up a couple of decent size ones last week. 1st lot of Broccoli and Cauliflower are finished. Corn should be ready next week or so. Likewise a couple of beetroot and the roly poly carrots.

Not much else to report and it is time to try to clean up the house a little bit. Really tired of having everything in strange places. Will be good to get the house back together. Only clean and dust free room is my bedroom.

Time for a cuppa before bed. Back tomorrow.

Good morning ladies,

Sunny day today but still cool. We are taking a ride to Minneapolis because DH is jonesing for some fast food from a favorite place of ours back in Chicago. It was the one place I HAD to bring back food on the plane when I went to visit the family. Now they have expanded out this way. Only a 5 hour round trip car ride ... What he will do for a sandwich  I guess it will be a nice ride through the country.

I did make some headway cleaning the refrigerator out. My new appliances are scheduled to come in on the 14th and I'd like to get as much out of the refrigerator and freezer as possible. I'm thinking although the square footage is bigger, these french doors look like they don't hold as much as the old refrigerator. And I don't want to jam the shelves like I did before - that will make DH happy.

Today is blown with the car ride, tomorrow I am working at the shop, Monday is our fundraiser, Tuesday is stay home and do things, Wednesday I am working at the Senior Center, Thursday I am sitting at the shop with a buddy who had cataract surgery last week - I am helping her because she had bad vision like me and is between surgeries so it's kind of hard to focus so I said I'd stay with her. Then it's bingo. Friday I have a doctor's appointment. I have not lost weight like I should. Stopped the Contrave 6 weeks or more ago when I got the spider bite and I kept screwing up my medication. I've been meaning to get back on program again but haven't. Ugh. Too much going on. And the calendar days are flying by...

Laura - no, DH has not caught his Musky yet. His fishing guide was busy with tournaments and trips to Canada. I'm sure they will pick up the quest again. So you are moving to the Sears Tower??? Yikes  That is my claustrophobic nightmare intensified!!! And TWO elevators??? Even worse  That sounds like you will be up on a higher floor so I hope you get good views of the city and surrounding areas. At least you'll be closer to the train station - or will you? So what is it about the class that you didn't like? The class itself or the fact it was on a Thursday?? Isn't it awful to be hating a class so much you can't take your eyes off the clock? Been there myself on that one. Were you able to cull some of your office documents for shredding?

Susie - glad the concert was enjoyable. Now that you have your new air conditioner it, watch -- the weather will cool off and you won't need it. Bummer on the gain at TOPS but I'm sure you'll make quick work of it, it's great that you are keeping tabs to stay on course. Heck, I found - or at least it's my theory - that even a rainy day bumps us up a bit  Yeah my team leader didn't like that either  even though all the ladies in the room found that funny and agreed

Shad - your comment about Sunday's eye muscles was very interesting to me. Meadow's pupils are almost always dilated - that could be why - age. It never occured to me. I'm glad she is otherwise doing ok. You have given her a good life. I can't seem to get the tile picture to load but it looks nice from the thumbnail. How nice that the nephew is helping you out. I hope things go quickly and everything is back in order again. The garden looks flourishing. I am hoping to get a tomato or two before it gets too chilly here. Already we are looking at overnight temps in the 40's (F). That's not good for tomatoes. And I have tons of blossoms, not sure I have any cucumbers from them but I keep looking.

Anyway have a good weekend chicks - hellos to Ceejay and Annie

Laura705 08-05-2017 10:48 AM

Morning all. So nice to have this cooler weather. Today is shaping up to be very nice. Great to have the windows open and the AC off. I also turned off the whole house fan - we'd had it set to run frequently to keep air circulating in warmer weather, but I'm enjoying the quiet without it.

I spent a little bit of time last night purging a few files of old bills, and some time this morning. Even so, I only have one shopping bag of paper to drop off. I keep too much... I came across bills related to when we had the big sewer pipe replaced and the sewer basin ( can't remember what it's called ) cleaned out a few years ago - thinking I should keep that for whatever reason. And that's why I have too much paper. Do any of you do that? Maybe I don't need the paper so much as a notebook with a log of what we do with the house. So we know the last time the chimney was cleaned and who did it and how much it cost. I dunno.

Shad - Poor Sunday, but I'm glad she still has one good eye. == What a job getting a new level floor in the bathroom. Those are pretty tiles. It helps to know someone who can do the work. Hang in there!

Susie - Maybe that tiny gain is due to the change-up in your workouts - less treadmill , more recumbent? == BTW - how's your foot feeling? Do you have the doctor appointment next week? == Yay for new AC!

Happy - Safe travels to Minn. Is the restaurant Portillo's? == Re the office move - distance to train station for me will be a wash. A block further west (closer), but a block further south (further). We'll be on floors 50, 51 & part of 52, so we'll have good views at least. == Thursday class is the instructor who just doesn't motivate me and the moves are just so monotonous.

Hellos to Ceejay & Annie!
==

Gonna get the bag of paper dropped off for shredding. Tonight friends are coming by to hang out for bf's b-day (which is Monday). Tomorrow is nothing as bf told me I don't have to go with him to the family party for some relative visiting that he hasn't seen in decades.

That's all for now. Have a great weekend everyone. :)

MyChoice2bfit 08-06-2017 12:10 AM

Hi Ladies--it was a very busy day for me today. Had my hair done...I love when I get new color on it and it is vibrant again, and having it cut and shaped up. It makes me feel pulled together and pretty.

After my hair appointment, DH and I did the grocery shopping together (DH had a pedicure while i was having my hair done. I have been taking him to get a pedicure when I get my hair done because his feet and nails were in bad shape. He wasn't taking good care of them and when his toe nails needed trimmed, he would just peel them off! I freaked out 3 months ago when I saw them and have him a good talking to and decided to take him to get pedicures and get them back in good shape. They are looking good and he says they feel better....well of course!

I went and bought a new Fitbit today. My 2 yr old one came apart when I took it off the charger this morning..and of course it was under warranty for 2 years..which were up in May 2017. The new one is the new Charge HR. Or something like that I had a Charge and it the new one of that. The part that broke they have changed it from metal to stainless steel. I have to set it up with my Fitbit account and will do that tomorrow sometime.

While we were out we went to "The Root Beer Stand" for dinner and also stopped and got a ice cream cone at "The Cone". These are all local places and we love them. They aren't where we live but rather down in Cincinnati and we have been going to them for 32 years when we first started dating. We burned the roads up today! lol

It is tax free weekend in Ohio (maybe other places?) where you can buy clothes and school supplies up to $75 and not pay taxes on the purchases. I did buy a new pair of jeans and 3 new tops that are more "early" fall clothes. The jeans i bought in April are getting baggy so I am buying a few things now so I will have things once the weather starts cooling off in about 6 weeks. We will still have warm days but the sleeveless tops and shorts will be going away about then.

Laura: Our weather is cool as well and it is very pleasant. We have a whole house fan and I have never used it. I am not familiar with how they work. I should google it and maybe you can bring me up to speed on it.

I do get my foot looked at on Wednesday of this week. It is feeling much better since I'm not using the treadmill as much but I really want to make sure what is going on with it.

I seem to have a lot of paper in my home office as well. I think a note book would be a good idea and maybe you could scan the receipts into an electronic file? I have thought about doing that sort of thing...but I haven't done it yet.

Enjoy your Sunday and the down time while your BF is gone.

Happy: How did the trip to Minneapolis go? Was the food good? I saw that DH said he was eating his fries there while they were not! :)

You have a very busy week coming up. I think you are as busy as me and lady you are retired!

Shad: I like the tile you picked out. It will look really nice when you get things all in and get to clean that dust out of the house..and it will feel better too. I get crazy when things aren't in place like it should be.

Ceejay: I am sorry to hear that you have have degenerative disc in the neck area with multi facets of arthritis. It doesn't sound like any fun at all. I think you are correct that your body isn't making the B12.

My friend Carolyn has bunion surgery done on both feet a couple of years ago. She said it wasn't easy but she was glad she did it.

Annie: How is Sassy doing? I hope you are getting some rest this weekend after dealing with all the sickness in the house last week.

Time for me to head to bed. I need to do my work out in the morning before church so I need to get hp an our earlier.

happy2bme 08-07-2017 08:43 AM

Good morning all,

This is going to be one very tiring and long week for me. Today is our Humane Society fundraiser that I chair. I will spend the day sitting outside in the parking lot of our local grocery store manning the table. Already I have received an email this morning - I can't remember when I am working and what I'm supposed to do. I sent out emails to everyone not even a week ago (so they'd be recent) explaining all of that... but I guess it's easier to ask me. Again. and Again. One old guy refused to answer my 3 phone calls to him because he didn't know who I was even though I clearly identified who I was, why I was calling and why I needed him to return my call. On top of that I got the most AWFUL sleep last night. Don't know why but I was up most of the night with an annoying dry tickle cough. So I'd get up and get a drink of water and 35 minutes later I'd wake up having to go to the bathroom. If I did manage to fall asleep I'd wake up having actual nightmares. A couple of times my chest hurt so much I was actually concerned. I don't think I got 2 full hours of sleep last night. It's going to be a LONG day. Tomorrow I have to myself but I need to work on getting the refrigerator cleaned out as much as possible. DH is planning on pulling away the fridge and stove so we can clean out behind there. Ugh, that will be a treat  Then the week is booked solid until Saturday. And I keep looking at the garage going ... I HAVE to go through these boxes because it's going to get cold soon in the blink of an eye and will be too cold to go through the garage. I think I am going to take this month off from the Thrift Shop again and focus on home as much as possible. The cable snapped on the garage door when we were leaving the other day. DH called 2 places - one guy said we don't have to replace the door - he can probably fix it which was nice. He's coming on Wednesday.

Susie - yay for the hair refresh. I know what you mean about feeling good about that - especially when they style it nicely that I can never seem to recreate. The Root Beer Stand sounds fabulous. What a treat! We very much enjoyed our trip to - yes Laura it was Portillos. Last night we had mostaccioli and salad that we brought back. It was delicious. That's funny about DH and his toes - mine was talking about something yesterday and I was laughing about "men's simple solutions to life's problems" kind of similar in vein to your hubby and his growing toenails. I guess it's good that we are around to temper and tame them a bit. :D We had a whole house fan when we lived in Chicago. It was wonderful. We had a ranch style house - one level plus basement. DH installed the fan in the hallway ceiling. It would pull the air through the house and vent it into the roof/attic area. This was great when the brick house would heat up during the summer days and when it cooled down outside at night, the brick would retain the heat and not cool off. Just open a few windows, turn on the fan and it would suck all the cool air into the house and blow out the hot stuff. It was also good as a sometimes super air exhaust if you burned something on the stove and needed to get the smell or smoke cleared out quickly. I loved it. But it seems to work better in a single story house and none of ours after that fit the bill.

Yikes Laura - 50th floor in the Willis Building. I hope they don't have fire drills  Yeah, I would have to be looking for another job  I don't like elevators any more at all. Did you have a nice relaxing weekend at home? I used to keep all sorts of paper records like you did and now like you suggested, I keep a Word doc with a chronological list of when we did what so I can refer back to it. I only keep the receipt for as long as I might need it to dispute a problem. Much tidier that way because those little bits of paper sure add up.

Hellos to Annie, Shad and Ceejay  I need to get showered up and gather my things and get out there on time today. Have a good day everyone.

annie175 08-07-2017 09:42 AM

Here is it Monday...did I even sleep? I say work 2 days off 5...same pay. Dream on.

Sassy did very well over the weekend. Finally pooed a couple of times. She only tried to bite me once when giving her meds. Don't blame her either. She is getting fiestier every day. She LOVES her new script dog food. Still has to wear her "cone hat". She is not a fan but don't want her to chew her stitches out. THank you for all that asked about her.

Had my PT this morning. My shoulder and range is not that bad. Of all the exercises they had only two apply to me due to my range being good. Excited about that. Don't even go back for anything. My check up with the doc is in September.

I will come back later for personal as I was late getting here due to PT>

Hugs

annie175 08-07-2017 01:30 PM

Made it back for a minute.

SHADDIE...the tiles and such look to be a great new look. I like them. Wish I had garden goodies. Nope. Got 3 tomatos of my potted plants. Couldn't keep ROYCE from picking them too early. I pulled them out of the pot and pitched them.

HAPPY...how did the fundraiser turn out. You did it on a Monday? Seems like a weekend would be more profitable, but then again it is kind of a retirement area. I dream every night. Not nightmares so to speak but always about dead loved ones. Do you think they are trying to call me home? lol. Just because LAURA had garage door issues doesn't mean you have too. :)

SUSIE...you will be back on the lossing track in no time. OMGosh, the Cone and the Rootbeer stand sound very bad to me. I would have to detour from that. If I got another Fitbit (Sam is using mine) I don't think I would pay the extra for the HR. Never used it, of course I never exercise. bahahaha.

HAPPY...I feel like the minute I would throw bill receipts away that would be the minute I would need them. Who knows when to let go? Floor 50 just sounds too scary to me. Too many things can happen that high up, ESPECIALLY if I were on that floor. :)

Hello to all...got to get back at it. No rest for the WICKED... :)

Laura705 08-07-2017 05:30 PM

Afternoon all. The day has flown by so far. It’s an in-house vacation day as Annie calls it because the boss taking a vacation day. :)

Susie – Good you’ve got dh on track with his feet and toenails, lol. My bf is very fastidious with his toenails and has great feet, but he still doesn’t like wearing sandals that expose his toes. He wears fisherman sandals that cover his toes, and if we’re going by a pool or beach, he’d wear some water sandals, but that’s it. == Did you get your new fitbit set up? = Your trip to the Root Beer Stand has me wanting a root beer float! :D == I don’t think my state has a tax-free day for school supplies/clothing, but Kohl’s had a tax-free sale over the weekend. I got over there and bought a couple things, but I wasn’t doing any serious shopping. It’s not my favorite thing to do. == Re the whole house fan - I should correct myself: we don’t have a whole-house fan like Happy described. What I meant was the fan that’s part of our HVAC system. Our smart thermostat has a setting in which the fan can be set to run anywhere from 0 – 60 minutes per hour. (If you have a traditional thermostat, you can only have the fan set to “on” or “auto”.) It pulls air in through the intake of our HVAC system, so it helps bring in fresh/cooler air and also keeps air circulating. It’s not powerful like a dedicated whole house fan, but it certainly helps. == Good luck with your foot appointment.

Happy – I hope your fundraiser is going well. I’m worried that your busy volunteer schedule is stressing you out and giving you anxiety, insomnia, chest pain, and nightmares!! Yes, take another month off from the thrift shop and try to slow down and focus on your garage and home. == Oh, re the garage door – no, don’t think the entire door gets replaced when a cable or spring fails. == Glad you enjoyed Portillo’s, though from the fb posts, it sounded like a real zoo! We have that at the ones here too, but we don’t go there all that often, and we tend to go at off times so we don’t run into the crowds. == Re the whole house fan, my mother had one in her house and my sister would joke that if you had a cat or small child you’d have to be careful they didn’t get sucked up into it, LOL.

Annie – I hope you caught up on your sleep this weekend after last week’s nursing of Miss Sassy. I’m glad she’s doing well. = Your PT sounds like it’s minimal. Do you have to do the exercises on your own at home now? == Too bad about your veg garden. I’ve kind of lost interest in mine. I didn’t check it at all this weekend…might have some cherry tomatoes to pick. And it probably needs some watering!!

Hellos to Shad and Ceejay.

==

On Saturday evening, friends came over to hang out for bf’s birthday, so we spent some time cleaning/preparing for that during the day. It was a beautiful night, and it was a nice time. One friend announced she’s going to retire in March. I think she’ll be 59. In the meantime, she’s going to go down to four days a week. Good for her. I admit I’m a bit envious, as I’ve got a ways to go yet… If I could assume my pension and SS were going to be there in the amounts that are currently calculated, I would feel comfortable retiring sooner rather than later, but there’s too much uncertainty for me to take that chance. Especially with the buttheads we have running the country right now! So I’ll continue to work and save.

BF gave me a pass on going to the family party on Sunday, so I stayed home and slothed for a lot of the day. I did a load of laundry. Phone my mother. Popped over to Kohl’s - I ended up with a top and some more undies. Got all of it for under $14 since I had a 30% off coupon and also got 10% off for sales tax. == I watched a few episodes of the new Twin Peaks series - boy is it strange. But of course I’ll keep watching because so far each episode has a scene or two with the characters from the old series and I like the nostalgia factor.

Tonight I’ll take bf out for dinner for his birthday. Otherwise, that’s about it for me.

annie175 08-08-2017 09:09 AM

Hey all...just gonna say it....life after 50 to 55 kind of sucks health wise. This that and the other always needing attention. No real reason to rant just came to me this morning. :)

Mmmmm, last night I made Keto "fried" baked chicken. Zucchini sauteed in butter, then drained and cheese melted on top. Also made mixed veggies. Of course all loved dinner. I am making chicken salad with the leftover chicken tonight. Have I mentioned lately that I love my KETO way of eating? lol, :) I brought BPC-bullet proof coffee this morning for another gal that wants to try keto. She is going to give it a shot. I also brought her a piece of last night's chicken.

LAURA...Happy birthday to BF! Where did you go for dinner? Somewhere yummy I hope. Does he have a favorite place? Pensions and SS. Can never tell so just live for today, one day at a time. Heck we may not make it to retirement.

Hey to all, Hugs

Laura705 08-08-2017 12:40 PM

Morning all.

Annie – How did the Keto coffee go over with the co-worker? == Your dinner sounded tasty. Back in the olden days, bf & I used to eat more chicken than we do now – bf loved it. He loved the boxes of frozen Banquet fried chicken parts that were heated in the oven. Anyone remember those?? I wasn’t a fan, but I guess it was sort of a bachelor holdover for him. I also used to do breaded bone-in chicken baked in the oven. Not as much home cookin’ going on now and we’re more likely to have boneless/skinless marinated chicken breasts – or Costco rotisserie chicken or Popeye’s. Sigh. == Bf and I went to a restaurant called Big Bowl, which has different types of Asian food. Very good. He had a Thai shrimp and scallops dish and I had Sichuan beef. Yummy. We used a gift card we bought from the last lab rescue auction to pay for most of it. If money were no object, bf would probably choose a good seafood restaurant. There’s a place here called Bob Chinn’s that we love. Just don’t get there very often. Maybe if we cooked more at home, we could spend the money we usually spend on run-of-the-mill restaurant meals and carryout on an occasional splurge at a nicer restaurant.

Hellos to the rest of you! Happy, how did the fundraiser go? Better rest up today so you can get through the rest of your busy week!!

==
Nothing much else to report. Tonight’s aqua fit class and that’s about it.

Hellos to the rest of you.

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday was busy at work (what else is new?!) and then last night was the finale of the Bachelorate. My "across the backyard" neighbor came over and we watched it together. Neither one of us were crazy about her pick; seems like an OK guy but just didn't thrill us.

I didn't get my workout in last night before the show as I put a salad together for dinner so we could eat and watch the show; she brought dessert...a fresh peach pie. I had a small piece and it was wonderful.

I just ran some errands on my lunch hour and went to Lens Crafters DH thought he had a scratch on one of the lens on his glasses It does appear to be so. They told me they would text me when they were finished but it could be an hour. I told them I would be back around 5.

Lens Crafters is right next to "Play it again Sports". I always want to go in there and just don't go, but today was the day. I am looking to start doing some weight workouts. They sell their used weights for 20 cents a pound. I think that is a really good price. I couldn't remember if I had 10 lb ones at home so I'm going to look and then Friday I plan to go buy a set of 10, 12, 15 and DH wants a set of $25.

Happy: How did the fundraiser go? Thanks for the info on the whole house fan, it sounds like ours. We have a ranch style home. I think I remember them telling me that before I turn it on, I need to open a window or it could blow out the pilot light to the gas water heater. Does that sound familiar?

Annie: I know a lot of people who are trying to Keto. When it comes to losing weight and dieting, my theory is "the one you will follow is the best one for you". I'm so glad you found one you love and made it a lifestyle for you.

I haven't heard you say much about AA; how are things going there?

Laura: It sounds like you had a very nice dinner for BF's birthday and it was nice you were able to just take some time for yourself on Sunday.

Hi to Ceejay and to Shad. I must get back to work. See you all tomorrow.

happy2bme 08-08-2017 01:38 PM

Good morning to you Worldies,

Survived the Tag Day Fundraiser yesterday. Did not fall asleep at the table. We made a bit more than $4400 in cash and had a child's sand bucket about 1/3 filled with all sorts of coins so I'm guessing the end total was around $4700. Not bad for a day's worth of work begging on the streets. We did get our fair share of "No thanks" - about a third. I did notice that every single tattoed over made up wierd hair colored teenaged girl sluffing along in flip flops with her travelling pack of friends consistently either said no or ignored us. Whereas the college-aged guys in for a beer run were always good for at least a buck. For all of those who said no or ignored us - there were plenty who threw in 5, 10 or even 20 dollars (we were out on the streets begging for donations with bright pink plastic buckets (our signature colors are hot pink and black). You can sort of tell who is going to ignore you but then again you never know - one guy I would describe as the living caricature of Popeye the Sailor Man's dad - all he was missing was the pipe in his mouth we approached and I thought for sure he'd say no. He kind of ignored us, walked into the store, turned around and came out and gave us a few bucks. And then on his way out (we were set up in front of a grocery store) he gave us another $5. So you can't always peg them from looks. Famous Dave of Famous Dave's BBQ who lives here walked in with his head down on a mission to pick up something at the store. I hollered out to him "Hey Dave - give me some money for the shelter or I will be forced to convert to a vegetarian in protest". I don't know if he laughed but he did make a nice donation. :D I also shamelessly shook down the local newspaper editor. :^: You have to get out there and ask people. Some of the volunteers are really shy - anyone who does this deserves a medal as it is SUPER HARD to ask people for money. Some of our more "out there" seasoned veterans are fun to watch. A few people have developed some interesting techniques over the years. I'm glad it's done for the year. I just have to write some thank you articles, pack up the stuff and order more stickers as we almost ran out of stickers - we give them to people when they give us a donation. I thought 2,000 stickers would be enough - we went through all but about 100 of them. Today I am home to myself. :yay: I have lots to do here. Next week my appliances come on Monday - I have a big clean up to do in the kitchen - might as well do a deep clean!

Annie - from my own personal experience I would say that yes, we hit a bit of a health bump at mid 40's - usually the near vision goes on the eyes. The 50's we don't recover as well as we once used to and we start to notice things wearing out. But it REALLY hits in the 60s. The aches and pains go up substantially. And then it seems when you get to your 80's that's when you really have some issues - some fixable, many you just have to deal with. I think the lesson is to take care of yourself as much as you can to avoid as much as possible later on. I spend the first 90 minutes of my shift yesterday sitting with my friend and former cohort at the shop. She started keto 3 weeks ago and LOVES it. She noticed the same thing you did Annie - feel better, less bloating, sharper mind and has managed to lose 10 of the 12 pounds she gained over the winter and was struggling to get off. Like you, she said it's very little effort and she was able to make little adjustments to tweak the program. Of course unlike me she has no problem with eating sugar free substitutes although she said she mostly sticks with meat and vegetables. I am still trying to wrap my head around it but I have to do something. :^: Actually you are right about not making it to retirement. There is a balance to be achieved - you don't want to "run out of money" - that's the biggest issue. If you are like us - no kids - you don't want to deny yourselves and then leave a pile to someone else to squander so you cautiously spend a bit and try to enjoy life before that brick knocks you on your keester. And for alot of people who do have children - I see more and more people who deny themselves and give most of it to their kids. I'm not saying that is wrong but I think they go overboard on the coddling. When your son is in his 40's and continuously gets DUI's and loses his drivers license - is it your responsibility to be his "taxi" and drive him to and from his job or are you just enabling him to get another DUI without consequence? I know my Mom would help me out ONCE and after the second one, she'd buy me a bicycle and tell me to go figure it out. Another person I know is spending her retirement money (and her husband's which is a great source of contention) on her growing brood of grandkids - many of which are popping out babies at 13 and 14 years old!!! Help them but also teach them to help themselves because after all, we all worked hard for our money, we have a right to enjoy it too. Ok end of soapbox. Sorry. :^: I'm glad to hear that Sassy is doing better even if she still wears the cone of shame. When do the stitches heal / come out?

Laura - thanks for the clarification on the whole house fan. In Memphis we had a fan put in that would periodically run and clear the heat out of the roof area because it would get so hot down there (so bad that we could not keep certain items like Christmas candles in the attic or they would melt as I sadly learned). Here in this house we have an "air exchanger" you can push a button to get it to run or it runs on it's own and recirculates the air which is nice. I think it's great to get some fresh air in the house - too much exposure to chemicals in the home and especially the office environment. Yes, I agree with you - I am suffering from volunteer overload I think. I will try and trim back for the next 2 months to enjoy the last of summer and autumn. Where did you wind up going for BF's birthday dinner?

That's funny - well really it isn't - that one person (maybe Annie) had an issue with a pet and we all followed suit. Then Laura had a problem with her garage door and ... well the rest of you - watch your garage doors

I'd better get off the computer and get busy here - the guy just came to fix the hot tub and I have laundry to start. Have a good day all - hellos to the rest of the chicks

Bob Chinn's :faint: oh I love me some Bob Chinn's - been years since I had any. :T

Yes Susie - that is absolutely right about making sure you open a window when running the whole house fan. Something too about pulling gas through the house - not a good thing. It's supposed to recirculate the air and that means giving it a good air flow. Yay for you on getting a good price for the weights - that's a great addition to your workout program!

Evening chicks.
I've had a busy couple of days. Church was Sunday morning and afterwards helped to decorate for the teachers appreciation day. Spent the night with sis and bil to help with the teachers luncheon on Monday. I was bushed when I got home. One of the ladies texted me this morning and told me to take it easy for the day and I did this morning.
I went to the gym and work out for 45 minutes this afternoon, 20 minutes on the treadmill and 30 on the recumbent bike. And also did some weight machines.
Sis called and she is sick with a head cold. She's going to tough it out and go to work. They've sent her home before so I'm hoping they do that tomorrow. I told her she shouldn't be passing that on to her patients. I think that's where she has caught this in the first place.

Happy
That's great that you raised that much money. I didn't realize that Dave from famous Dave's was from your area.

I'm not to chatty lately so I'll go back and read then post personals later on.

Hidee Ho and Good Morning/Evening All....

One America sign: If you wear cowboy clothes does that make you ranch dressing? bah. Last week it was: If every day is a gift, today must me socks. Took me a minute on that one. We tend to get a LOT of socks for Christmas. Big gift.

Last night was chicken salad made with the leftover baked "fried" chicken. YUM. I made fresh cauliflower with butter and cheese. Big hit in our house. All Keto food. I ate mine on lettuce. C on toast. Sam just plain on the plate. Royce even ate a bit. Of course Jacob turned his nose up. He ate chicken nuggets. Sam cleaned the kitchen. Tadah!

We had an older washer/dryer set from Cs rental that Sam advertised on line and sold for 100 bucks. I guess C told her she could have the $$ from it. I told him to stop doing that. He is such a b**B. He has no idea the life of paying bills. I may just give him a dose of it right in the ole kisser. Frustrating as heck.

CEEG...great job on exercising. Sorry to hear about sis being sick. Feel better soon!

HAPPY...we had one of those fans in the ceiling when we lived out in the stix of Putnam county. It actually made the house cold sometimes. Oh Geez did you have to mention the 60s health issues. That is my next stop in 3 years. lol I, like you, could not wrap my head around the KETO WOE before I started it. I mean who intentionally eats FATs? HOWEVER, once I just jumped in and started eating keto, it was so easy and very adaptable to me. Now I live by it. Swear by it. I had to take my head out of the equation, haha, to get with the program. Easily done, blonde you know. My neck has not hurt since I started this woe. Plus a lot of other parts are doing better. I did add a packet of clear gelatin to my coffee each morning. Supposed to help with joints and ole arthur. I noticed yesterday I could go down 6 stair steps the regular way without pain. It is a start. Couldn't do one before that. Might be all in my head but wutev. How is Meadow doing? Sassy is doing better each day. She gets her stitches out on the 15th. Great job on the fundraiser, now rest woman!!

SUSIE...20 cents a lb on weights is cheap. Good on you for adding extra to your exercise program. We used to get the kids sports equipment at Play It Again Sports. Not all of it but the items that are safe to use second hand. How do you count the nutrition in the peach pie when it is homemade? Do you even count it at all? AA is great. The pitch in pool party for last Saturday got moved to this Saturday as the host lady's aunt passed on Friday night. Looking forward to it.

LAURA...the co-worker loved the coffee and the chicken I brought her. I think she did well the day before too. Hopefully she can adapt. And yet another gal is jumping on the Keto wagon as well. She was going to start today. I gave her a sample of the coffee. She liked it also. I would probably like the Big Bowl place too, I like Asian food. Don't know what I would eat there, but I am sure I could find something. How was aqua fit class?

Hello's to the rest of ya's.

Hugs

Good morning chickies,

Sad news. Momma turkey who just had those adorable little peeper chicks is down from an original 6 babies to only 3 this morning. :( I wonder if she brought them out into the world too young. They are so tiny and vulnerable although she will fight like the dickens to protect them. Makes me sad. Whereas the other Momma who is mom to the 8 teenaged turkeys only lost one of her brood.

Man came to fix the hot tub yesterday. Easy peasy replacement of a part in and out. Works great. Man is coming today to look at the broken garage door. I don't know why DH was thinking they needed to be replaced other than the guy who did our 3 season room also replaces garage doors and told him they needed it. :dizzy: I hope it's an easy fix. We are rebuilding this house piece by piece.

Today I work at the senior center for 5 hours. Tomorrow I was supposed to work at the Thrift Shop to help someone but that got switched to next week which works out better for me. I did some cleaning yesterday but also sat on the deck in the sun for about an hour soaking up some vitamin D. It was nice.

Annie - everything you say and I hear points to Keto being the way to go. It's just that I guess I am a sugarholic. And this would be such a drastic change for me. For example - my morning coffee - I only have one - I take with flavored creamer. I like the cream more than the sugar so I could adjust to that but it's an adjustment. Tonight for dinner we are having the ribs from Portillos. But I could not eat them on Keto because of the sweet BBQ sauce. I have coleslaw - also has sugar in it and I don't like the vinegar based slaws which are too also made with sugar. Most all of the Lean Cuisine's I eat for lunch have breading or a no no starch in them. Ditto on deli sandwiches. I'd have to give up the fruit I love. Did I say I love fruit??? No more peanut butter on fresh apple slices for a quick snack? And although I rarely eat cookies and such, the minute I can't have them, I want them. And we didn't even scratch the surface of giving up my Coca Cola habit. But then again, maybe this is why I'm fat. Actually I am trying to wrap my head around this as you say. It can be done.

So... I smiled at the comment about C giving S the money for the sale of the appliances. Were you referring to keeping the money to pay off your own bills? ;) Good heart, not always the best decisions... Love your One America signs - please keep sharing. I like them way better than those songs you pop in my head that stay with me all day  :D Oh I am glad to hear that you are still having that pool party. I thought they had nixed the idea. I keep wanting to ask you something but it keeps flying out of my head. Nothing new on that one...

Ceejay - yes the original very first Famous Dave's restaurant was located in my town. Burned down in a tragic fire 2 maybe 3 years ago. He opened a new franchise of bbq places - Memphis style bbq. See I will never be able to get away from Memphis for the rest of my life. But he tools around town here - we see him all the time. He's actually kind of shy. I smile at how you have filled your retired life up with lots of activities. See how easy it is to do? And isn't it wonderful doing things that are fun?

Susie - were you at one time looking to change paths in your career at work or was that with a different manager that you felt was stifling you? Just a wisp from the past, I can't remember the specifics. Things going well now then?

Laura - that's funny you mentioned the Banquet frozen chicken. DH loved that too. Me not so much - I'd eat all the side dishes and give him the meat. It did make for an easy to put together meal. I have never eaten at Big Bowl. I think that went in just before we moved out and we never got a chance to try it although I do love those sorts of places. But Bob Chinn's oh how I loved that place. I remember once when I was working downtown a goofy buddy of ours ordered food from Bob Chinn's for us for dinner - we were working a very long weekend disaster recovery exercise. He felt we deserved a good meal for all of our hard work. My boss almost fainted when he saw the bill. He was thinking Carl would have ordered Mc Donalds for us. Are you going to use up your punch card with the aqua fit classes and then move on to something else at home?

Hey Shad, how's the renovations coming along???

I'd better get off the computer now. I can get a few things done before I have to leave for the senior center. Have a good day everyone.

HAPPY...I get giving up favorite things. I don't crave popcorn, but I could eat a wheelbarrow full of popcorn from the movies or at least a belly full. I guess it is all in what you want more in life. Sugar or healthiness. Right now you want sugar and I get that too. Look how long I beeeeacccched about losing weight and getting healthy before I actually went with it? AND truly, once you give sugar/carbs etc up completely, you no longer crave them. The BPC also keeps you full, no cravings as does the fat you eat. I guess a lot of it is mind over matter....or something like that. :) The pool party was brought back as the gal that had the liner leak in her pool got it fixed easily. So the pool party is back on. Probably be too chilly to swim this weekend anyway. May just chat around and eat keto. My son is supposed to come up on Saturday so I probably won't stay too long. We are still doing O'Charley's on the eve of 22nd. I mean why not? Right? Glad we are as I love their planked salmon baked, grilled asparagus and salad. Making my mouth water as I typed that one. Aww poor turkey momma. That makes me sad. It is ok if they go out on their own, it is another to think they might of been food. Sam always says, Mom it is the circle of life. Bah on her. We had about 8 baby ducklings, half grown, beyond our fence toward the pond area last night. I threw some out of date cinnamon raisin bread and dinner rolls to them. They all went nuts. Of course it wasn't too much time before the big ole geese arrived to fight over it. The geese don't even run anymore when Bruno takes charge to the fence barking his head off. They just look at him and laugh (squack). Me thinks he has just about given up on that idea. I guess if you don't run no one will chase you. lol. Hugs dear sister.

Morning all.

Susie – You’re going for the heavy weights! :lifter: :strong: My collection of dumbbells/hand weights ranges from pairs of 1-pound to 8-pounds. And I also have a couple light kettlebells – I think they are 5- and 7-pounds. Wimpy, lol. And I have a weighted body bar that I believe is 12 pounds. Anyway, sounds like a great price for those weights. They sure don't need to be new.

Happy – Great result from the fundraiser. :carrot: I suppose after a while even the quiet folks would get more comfortable asking for donations. The worst that could really happen is they could ignore you. == Re kids being coddled, I do appreciate (now) that my parents didn’t do that. I grew up to be a self-sufficient person and not expecting anything to be handed to me. As a kid, I resented that I wouldn’t get rides from them to go by a friend’s house and that’s when I biked or bused it. I sure as heck didn’t get everything I wanted. They did, however, help with important stuff. As an adult, money was loaned, not gifted. == Sad to think about the momma turkeys losing their chicks. That's the reason I rarely watch nature shows - the reality is too sad. == Glad the hot tub fix was easy. Good luck re the garage door repair. == Agree with you re coming to terms with how Keto would work for me. I’m never keen on cutting out entire types of foods, but in the instance of sugary sweets, it might be a relief to just give them up altogether - those “red flag” (does WW still use that lingo??) foods I shouldn’t keep in the house because I can’t control yourself around them. I(Maybe the penny per ounce soda tax will be a good thing for me, LOL). But I'm not sure I'd ever be a "purist" in any eating plan. I just can't get concerned about one mug of tea per day with some sugar or artificial sweetener in it. The gobs of sugary sweets I consume is a whole 'nother matter though. == Funny Bob Chinn story – that certainly was a good meal for all your hard work!!

Ceejay – Keeping busy and out of trouble, that’s a good thing! Great job on the exercise! Do you wonder how you ever had time to work full-time?? :D == Hope your sister feels better soon. I should think that’s the big occupational risk in her line of work.

Annie – Love those One America’s sign sayings/jokes. I decided to look that up and found this:

https://www.oneamerica.com/about-us/...nity/signboard

It also said you could follow the sign on twitter or linkedin, but who wants to do that (not me), so you can just keep posting them here for us to enjoy. :D ;) == Re C giving S the money from selling the washer/dryer…pretty generous of him, but he needs to remember that charity does begin at home, LOL. But I can see how that could get muddied in his mind as S is in your home, lol. “He has no idea the life of paying bills.” Same in our house – some days I just want to post a giant whiteboard listing all the monthly expenses to make bf more aware of where all the $$ go. Sure he’s aware of the cost of the home maint./improvements and car repairs because he takes care of almost all of that, but the routine expenses, nope. I quietly pay them and only complain when the cable company decides to jack up our bill yet again, so most of the time he’s clueless about the cash flow. == Glad the pool party is back on! :beach:

Hello to Shad!!
--
Nothing much to report. Good aqua fit class last night, but I’m still happy I only have two classes left on the pass. Not my favorite way to exercise, and more pre- and post-work involved in making sure the swimsuit and water shoes are ready to go for the next class – i.e., soaked, rinsed, dried. And then there’s shaving, LOL. Like anyone cares... Anyway, the fall park district catalog should be arriving this week and I’ll check out the classes available, but there usually isn’t much change. For now, I think I’ll go back to exercising at home. I’ve built up a good collection of workout dvd’s and would like to get back to those. And I can easily modify for my foot issue.

Okay, many interruptions later, I’m finally getting this posted. Have a good day everyone. :)
