Monday, Monday!! Happy, Healthy, Grateful and Blessed.
CEEG...oh shoot you just reminded me I need to schedule my mammo. It is due this month and Wednesday is March...Thanks, I think? lol SHADDIE...Thanks for the glass of wine! Living vicariously through others. lol. I don't even crave the stuff at all. Thank God. So happy to hear you are feeling better and better. Still you don't need to be pushing things. You need a full 6 to 8 weeks of recovery. No shoveling, HOHing (pun on me) or vacuuming. I mean it! Said doc Annie. We had a bit of rain and flurries over the weekend. Supposed to warm up to 50s and 60s this week. Yeah. Thanks for the motivation on WL. HAPPY....thanks also for the motavation kudo's on WL. I am still loving this WOE. Starting week 3 today. I feel so much better. I made ribs over the weekend. OMGosh Yum. Boo on the skiing event being cancelled. I think I would lean towards no snow and warm weather over the event. At least sales were up some at the shop. I am telling you drop all carbs with a net carb of 20 and all sugars. Your joints will feel so much better. SUSIE QUSIE....Girl I think maybe we both will fit better on the rides at KI. I am dying to go but so afraid my ankle will not hold up for an entire day. Just take some breathes for the over worked, overwhelming feeling at work. Wrap your arms around yourself and give yourself a big hug. One from me too! LAURA...good Lord sister, how are you feeling? How's the foot? I had to rub Vicks on my throat last night when I went to bed. A bit scratchy. WIll post this and come back for my update. |
Lets me see....Friday is a blurr, can't even remember what I made for dinner. Bah. Saturday was meeting, lunch with Sis and the kids. Then grocery shopping. Made pork roast in the crocker. YUM. These Keto recipes are wonderful. Served broc/cauliflower and fried some taters for the crew. No taters for me. Laundry. Sunday was church, C even went with us and went to work directly after. Was nice for him to join us as he has not been to church with us since August. I made the best pork ribs for dinner. Also fried radishes. Now I know that sounds weird but I just had to try fried radishes. It is Keto. OMGosh, they tasted like fried green tomatos to all of us. It is now a favorite! Finished up laundry then we rented and watched The Accountant. Of course I dozed off and on all the way through it cause we didn't start it til 8pm. What I saw of it was really good tho. We also rented and TRIED to watch The Girl on the Train. That was freaking awful. We turned it off half way through. That concludes my report. bah hahaha.
Hugs All |
Morning all. I’m happy, healthy, blessed and grateful. :)
Susie – I hope you squeezed some “me time” into your weekend. What a shame you had that last minute work to do. I hope that after Tuesday things calm down a bit for you. I dunno, I think I’d forgo some of those nice events if it meant my time being my own on the weekend. Time is a precious thing. I hate to think that I’m waiting around for retirement to tackle some of the things I want to do. == Another great loss for you!! Wonderful NSV to be buying smaller size clothing!! :cheer3: What has been the primary key to your success? Happy – I’m surprised you’d feel better after just the first dose of krill oil, but I’m happy to hear you feel better and I hope it continues!! But what a rip-off that you didn’t get the 30 pills you paid for, and they weren’t cheap! == It must be a burden for your shop to dispose of donations that won’t sell, especially in your area where bigger charitable organizations aren’t conveniently nearby. Shad – Glad you’re feeling better – sounds like it was a hard time for a bit. But now you sound like you’ve bounced back and are ready to get back to your busy beaver habits again. Good for you! == As for the NZ govt officials and reforms, I’m sure I didn’t get it all with any accuracy, but it was interesting to learn about the turnaround. I’m sure there’s many subsidies propping up US industries and not doing anyone any good other than the prop-ees. Lord only knows what our current narcissistic nutjob prez will do during his tenure. And that’s all I better say about that. :tape: Ceejay - I agree with you about all things in moderation, though I am challenged by the moderation part. == I take it the plant hasn’t fallen apart and your former co-workers are surviving without you?? :D Annie – Great loss for the week!! Whoohoo!! :cheer2: So how did you do the ribs? We do them low and slow in the oven, and use a spice rub and a bbq sauce on top of that. I imagine the sauce is a no-no for you if it contains the sugary stuff – ketchup, brown sugar, etc. == I’m getting better, but some of my cold symptoms linger, as usual. Hope you’re not coming down with anything. Must be hard not to when the grand kiddies pick up everything going around their school – even if it’s just one of them and not both. == We watched “The Accountant” on Friday night and thought it was good. Not sure what we really expected, but it was not what we thought it might be. Annie – sorry you didn’t like “The Girl on the Train” - someone else we know who saw it thought it was crummy until the last half hour or so, so I’m not surprised you hated the part you did see. Saturday I did go through the linen cabinet (the linen part anyway) and ended up with a bag of towels that bf dropped off at a local animal shelter. On Sunday I went through another closet and have three sets of bathroom accessories to donate. You know - shower curtain, soap dish, waste basket, soap dispenser, etc. Bf got motivated to get the part of the basement around his work bench cleared out. We got rid of a lot of empty boxes from appliances, etc. We moved some of my old luggage to the attic, and pulled out a few empty boxes we had from there too. Not that they’re totally empty – had to pull out plastic and Styrofoam and all the other packing stuff. Good thing at least some of it can be recycled... Other than that and some laundry, I didn’t do all that much this weekend. Watched maybe 10 minutes of the Oscars last night and glad it wasn’t more than that – can’t get that time back, LOL. That’s it for me. TTFN. |
Happy healthy and blessed!
My Director did not have one change for the powerpoint and the budget meeting went well so today was good at work. I am currently on the bike for my 30 min workout on it tonight and then will hit the treadmill for 30 min. Shad: glad you are feeling better. It sounds like it is still plenty warm there. Dont over do. Rather do what you want but at a slower pace. It is nice to hear that you feel while you pay heavy taxes you are benefiting from excellent health care. I feel I still have pretty good health care but it cost more and more each year. Ceejay: nothing wrong with moderation. It sounds like you had a very nice weekend. I will come back and finish personals after my treadmill workout. |
2-27-2017
Woke up with sinus drainage and coughing this morning around 5.30 this morning. Right now it seems better. So much is blooming.
Mammogram is done for now. Hope there is not a call back. They are sending to Jonesboro to get my 2015 mammogram results. I had looked up online for a couple of weight loss companies. Went to both. The one down the road from me looked as if it were closing it's doors and WW I supposed had closed for the day. I'm not sure whether or no I'm going back. Made plans with a friend to eat lunch together Thursday. My federal taxes were in the bank today. I'm set for vacation to TX and to Maryland. ---------------------- Annie Your recipes really sound good. Those breakfast burrito's as I call them on FB sure looked good. Laura It isn't for the fact that some of us wait till we retire to do things we just have more time. Sounds like you are getting a lot done at home. Don't you like that feeling of accomplishment. I have to start again tomorrow. We were a pretty close group even though we didn't see eye to eye all the time. They know their jobs. They have one that will be going on maternity leave if she doesn't get booted out for taking some time off when she didn't have any time. R was asking me to contact B to see if I could work that time. I'm not sure I want to. I don't have that stress and don't want to upset the apple cart. Happy and Susie, Hello |
Good Giggly Wiggly....Happy, Pretty much healthy, grateful and blessed. Got it in my chest and throat, sinus drippage. Bleh. I always get sick with a cold of some sort a couple of weeks into dieting. Thought I would forego it this time but nope. My body must reject healthy eating.
I made Fathead pizza last night. YUM! It is really the dough that is different and the tomato paste. Most any topping is acceptable. Tonight is chicken salad I think. May change my mind by then. Go home and go to bed. Rub vicks on my throat and chest and hit it. CEEG...you can do this. You can do anything you put your mind too, WL is always a struggle for us tho. Like me visiting my old boss, it is too early for you to go back to work already, even if only a temp position. SUSIE...sounds like your day was awesome. Nice when everything comes together. :) LAURA...very boring ribs at this end. Boiled them first in chicken broth and a bit of vinegar (vinegar gaurantees they will fall off the bone later). THen seasoned them up, added a little water to the pan, covered with foil and baked them on 325 for a couple of hours. Added BBQ sauce to all but mine. Put back in oven for 15 minutes. Tadaah. I have a couple of closets to go through for the thrift shops. Funny what on earth did we do before closets? Hello to all ya'll. Probably go home in a bit. Not feeling it. Hugs, from a distance. |
Anne - can you clarify - do you only eat a net 20 carbs for the entire day or is it that you avoid foods that are more than 20 net carbs? That would be a big difference.
|
HAPPY....I eat 20 net carbs a day. Say something has 4 carbs and 2 fiber, that would be 2 net carbs for the count. It is also high fat. If you do this right, it is hard to get 20 net carbs and high fat. Unless you are a carb fanatic. Also no sugars or sweetners (sweetners if you have to is ok). The percentages on carbs/fats/proteins etc for me are
Carbohydrates 16 g 5 % Fat 101 g 70 % Protein 81 g 25 % Google Keto Macros, enter information and you should get your percentages. |
Plus too many carbs or too much protein will cause a stall in weight loss.

Howdy chicks,
Let's bring February to a close. Woke up sniffly like many of you. Kind of crummy outside - a mix just teetering between snow and sleet. I'll take the snow thank you. Sinus headache too. BAH. Scale is up - yesterday after Tai Chi we went to breakfast. I had 1/2 of my Eggs Benedict and boxed the rest. Then for supper I ate the other egg, chopped up the ham and put it in my chicken soup and tossed the other English muffin half and the hash browns. I only put a small handful of noodles in the soup but concentrated on the broth, the meat, and the vegetables. Might have had 2 spoons of the noodles but not more than that. Now the weight is up because of the salt in the soup and the lean ham no doubt. Gak I am tired of this whole dieting thing already. We are wondering where my NuStep is. They supposedly shipped it on the 14th and here it is 2 weeks later and no NuStep. DH was on the phone all day yesterday - the salesperson is the most unhelpful dummy - all he wants to do is toss DH to customer service. Apparently they contract delivery out to different carriers. DH was able to get a hold of the place that has our unit - they confirmed it's been there for 2 weeks. He talked to the owner who made ALL SORTS of excuses - the box is too big, we live too far out, we expect them to deliver it to and INSIDE our house, it's heavy wah wah wah. Well this is why it was $600 for delivery alone so go cry me a river. I told DH to cancel it. They said they would TRY to deliver it by Friday (and mind you it's at their place now and this is Monday). DH said if it's not here by Friday we are cancelling it. I think we should get part of our delivery fee refunded. Why does everything have to be so hard???? So I am not happy, healthy, grateful or blessed today. Maybe tomorrow but not today. At DH's urging I did try one of the TENS units he bought on both of my knees. Can't say it made any difference but it's unfair to assess after only one try. Tai Chi was difficult yesterday too on the knees. There is also one move that is backwards from normal movement (they do this in a purposeful effort to improve your balance). I keep moving arms and feet the wrong way and it's getting frustrating. I want to give up but I won't. Tomorrow they are doing a special open yoga class to benefit the humane society. I'm curious to see how many extra people will come as most of the ones I invited who did respond said they can't make it. Thursday DH and I were going to go to a farther away casino for our anniversary. He let it slip to one of our friends who jumped at the idea of going with his wife. So they are coming with us. The issue is - she's not a gambler so she will want to sit and talk and :blah: and :blah: and :blah: and that's not why I am going to the casino. Then we have to sort of rush back as we have a cooking class that night. Friday our favorite Italian restaurant is making cannelloni especially for me - I just hope they can get more swordfish in for DH. Our anniversary is Sunday and I still don't feel we are doing anything special enough to warrant celebrating 40 years. We should have done the overnight in St. Paul like I suggested in the first place. Sorry if I am being a whiner. Just in a funk I guess... Anne - I'd have to say that ribs without sauce are just bony pork roast. In Memphis they'd do a dry rub seasoning only and I didn't like that either. I laugh about your closet comment. At my Mom's house we had closets that were short and narrow and it also had to hold shoes and a big box of blankets too. Now my master closet I can lay inside of and have plenty of room (although it's still smaller than my closets in Memphis were). And my closet is jammed. I keep saying I have to buckle down and go through it. Kind of like a purse - the bigger the object, the more we stuff down in it. Part of my issue is that I don't trade out seasonal stuff so everything is vying for space in there which is sort of a waste. I hope you are feeling better and this is just a temporary sniffle thing for you. Might just be that time of year when the germs have a party and we are the unwilling recipients. Nice that C went back to church with you. Was he just overloaded with work and trying to get a bit of relaxing in? Are you still hosting those meetings you talked about? Fried radishes - my that's an interesting concept... Ceejay - I agree - don't rush back to work. Don't get sucked back in. You have settled in nicely - now go and enjoy it. As my friend said regarding work "all you are missing is the aggravation". Besides where would you live and wouldn't working cost more than what you'd get paid? Susie - yay for no changes on the Powerpoint presentation! Laura - we usually take things we can't sell or our excess over the the Salvation Army down the street. Their store is about 4 times the size of ours so they have much more room for things. In the past we had problems with 2 volunteers who were refusing about 90 percent of the stuff we got in and hauling it down there instead. We were unaware of it until one of the workers there told one of our Board Members that while they were most grateful for the quality and quantity of donations we gave them, they didn't understand why we weren't selling it ourselves. We put a stop to that quickly. And our increased revenues reflected that immediately. And sometimes we get stuff that is just not saleable under any means so that gets recycled if it can otherwise it gets tossed. Sounds like you had a really productive cleanout at home! I used to save appliance boxes too - never really had something fail so that was a big waste of space, isn't it? Shad - sounds like this chemo punched the stuffing out of you. Just be gentle with yourself. Glad you are having a glass of wine. Any sign of it taking a toll on your hair? Sometimes they say it grows back more curly - I hope that is not the case as you seem to have enough of a wave already. Today is Fat Tuesday. I have no desire for paczki and I'm thinking since I am really struggling with the soda of late that I should give it up for Lent. It would TRULY be a big sacrifice for me. Like giving up the cigarettes all over again. I am really addicted to Coca Cola. I'm thinking if it's not in the house, I won't be tempted by it. Probably a good thing. And with that I should get off the computer and get a few small tasks done before I have to head over to the thrift shop. Have a good day everyone. |
Thanks Annie - because I cannot do artificial sugar 20 net carbs for the entire day would be darn near impossible for me. I have been entering foods and checking things in My Fitness Pal for the last 3 weeks just to get an idea on foods. I would be most miserable and have to change my name to Crabby Appleton. Or get hypnotized or something.
And yes, I am thinking this is what I need to help with the aches. |
It's windy outside. Made an appointment online with the doctor for him to check my b12 level. It will not be until 3-14-17. I feel like a computer number, the way the medical field handle things. The people were really nice yesterday at my appointment.
Slept till 10 this morning. Took an allergy med last night and it must be full of antihistamines. Much better today, but I haven't been outside yet either. This one is not to supposed to make my bp sky rocket. Also am using the humidifier. Annie I thought you were on a no carb diet. I can handle the 20 net carbs per day. Just don't like giving up my coke's. Your ribs sounds really good too. Happy I know I'm not ready to go back to work and fill in. Knowing my bosses, if the woman is on probation trial (3 months) and has no time off then they will not let her come back. They are waiting for the right moment. That's what the all seeing eye (camera) is for. Susie Since I missed going to the gym yesterday I will do my cardio today. I've been walking on the treadmill for 30 minutes and riding the bike for twenty may have to ride the bike for 30 minutes. |
Morning all. Mild temps today (52 right now), but a bit dreary and rainy. I’ll take it!
Annie – Sorry you’re feeling crummy. Rest up and feel better soon my friend. == Did the pizza have a non-grain crust, like cauliflower? == I think bf and I almost do live without closets, lol. No, we have closets, quite a few actually but rather tiny ones. Thank goodness for the basement!! Susie – I’m glad there weren’t many changes to the budget presentation. Hope today’s meeting goes well. Ceejay – Would you even seriously consider filling in for someone on maternity leave?! Too soon!! And you don’t even live there anymore! Besides, I’m sure you’re way too busy enjoying retirement to want to go back to work, LOL. == Yes, feels good to go through a closet and get rid of some stuff that’s just taking up space. I wish I didn’t let it sit around so long, but it’s just easier for me to let go of things after more time has passed and I’m more sure I don’t want/need them. Happy – What a mess with the Nu Step delivery. Yes, why does everything have to be so hard?!?! == Bummer that you’ll have unwanted company for your anniversary casino visit. Maybe you can cancel it (so you don’t have to rush home for the cooking class) and go on another day by yourselves. Forty years is a big deal – maybe you should do the overnight in St. Paul. == Wow, can’t believe the volunteers who were rejecting 90% of the donations! Crazy. Sort of like that saying, with friends like that, who needs enemies?? == You’re right about saving the appliance boxes. It rarely/never happens that we buy some appliance or something that conks out within days or months and need the box in order to return it. We should just leave the boxes out somewhere visible and get rid of them after a week or two. == Re the paczki, I went to the bakery on Sunday morning to get a Danish for myself. I circled twice but there was no close parking, so I finally parked down the block. Wasn’t sure what the heck was going on, but when I got to the entrance, I saw the signs for Paczki Days (they even stay open all night on Monday) and people leaving the bakery with boxes and boxes of them. It was crowded, so I left and went to a donut shop instead and ended up with an apple fritter instead. == Good idea to give up the Coke, even if giving it up means not buying any for the house, but still allowing yourself to have a coke when you go out to eat. Hello to Shad. = Today is payday, so yay for that. Otherwise, nothing special going on. Had lunch with a friend – she’s six years away from retiring and getting excited about it. That seems like a really short amount of time to me, so I’m excited for her too. Double that number for me. Bleh. I’ve been really unexcited about my work lately, so I guess I’m a bit envious of her too. Sure would be nice to get what she and I just termed “a la-di-da” kind of job and not have to worry about goals and performance reviews, the commute, and the full-time grind. So I switched deodorants and the scent is bugging me. Might go back to my old brand. Sigh. Nothing else going on with me until later this week. Thursday afternoon is the orthopedic appointment and Friday morning is the biopsy. Otherwise, my life is a big yawn at the moment. Off to post. :comp: |
Happy Grateful and Blessed, not all that healthy at the moment. Mostly just chest congestion and sinus pain. My throat no longer hurts. My ears fill full tho. May just be the sinus congestion. Bleh.
Went home early yesterday and slept a bit in the afternoon. I felt a bit better when I woke up but nothing to really write about. Today I feel pukey. Nothing in there but coffee at the right now so bleh again. Surely too this will pass. :) Everyone ate some sort of leftovers last night for dinner. I just had scrambled eggs and cheese. Wasn't really in the mood for anything else. Got my review from my "new" manager. Was rated lower than last year. I don't get this stuff. So over it. He doesn't even know me in order to rate me. Probably why I was rated lower. It is still a decent rating but not as high as last year. Whatev. So the highest percentage of raise at 4% I will not get, but more likely 3%. Better than nothing and I am blessed. LAURA...yes 6 years away from retirement sounds wonderful. I am like 8 to 10, depending if I want out at 65 or 67. Curtis being younger than me by 2 years and me carrying the insurance makes all the dif in the world. Of course by then, anything can happen as far as all this insurance crap is concerned. And by then the retirement age will be 70 no doubt. Shoot me now. Serenity now! I still need to schedule my mammo. Not really dragging my feet, just don't feel like anything right now. OH SHADWICK....how are you feeling now that you are up and moving? ODDU keeping you busy? HAPPY....How are you feeling with all this movement on the foot and knee? Is the Krill oil making a difference? or is it too soon to tell? I meant net carbs are carbs minus fiber equal net carbs. Wasn't too clear on the last posting. I just noticed your avatar. How stinkin' cute and sweet is that. I love that picture. CEEG...could it be we in this thread are passing all this sinus crap around. haha. Hope you are feeling better. You have about the same weather as we do. Only you usually get it first, then maybe LAURA depending on tracking, then me. That is how the sinus crap is being spread. Glad I got that resolved. lol. I could come give you a shot in the rear of B12, I have many at this time. SUSIE...keep on keeping on girl. I am so proud of you. Hugs Bout all for me, ugly report day, yes new boss started that up again, only a bit less reporting and simpler. Amen. |
Morning all. Happy Hump Day.;)
Annie – Doesn’t seem fair that the new boss, who you’ve worked for only a few weeks, gets to rate you on a full year. Bleh. But 3% is better than 2% (what I got) and 1% and 0%, so there’s the bright side. == Yeh, even in 6 years, anything can happen to any of the resources we currently rely on for retirement. It doesn’t even make sense to plan in any detail except to KEEP ON SAVING! == Hope the ugly report day isn’t too ugly, and take some Sudafed to dry out those full ears!! Feel better soon chica. How’s everyone else today? I’m happy, healthy, blessed and grateful. Hope you’re feeling the same. Been wondering how Dee is doing these days. Susie, I recall that you two knew each other from another thread – have you heard anything from her or know how to get in touch? ~~~~ Still spending about $8-10 a day on taxi/bus combo for my work commute during this foot-healing period. But blessed to have a job to commute to! A couple of days ago bf learned his braces will be coming off in one month. Have to put together a package of goodies for him that he will be able to enjoy once again. Nothing much else to report, so I’ll get this posted. |
