Tonight I will be grilling for dinner. I don't think I ever grilled in February! I have a company coming today to give me an estimate on converting the tub to a shower. I'm betting it's going to be expensive. Then I have another estimate on Monday. I'll let each of them know I am getting other estimates so they give me their best price. Have a great Thursday! |

30 minute walk Meals Raisin cinnamon bagel with cream cheese Subway veggie sub Bean burrito and 4 onion and potato pierogies Trail mix bar Well, our water heater/furnace is out again. Woke up to a cold house and no hot water. Glad the weather today was much warmer, but still had a sore throat from last night. Tonight just heated up some water on the stove to wash. We called our home warranty support, but they won't send anyone out until Monday. They don't consider it an emergency. Funny how that works. Anyway, my husband did call a technician and he may have a few minutes to stop by tomorrow on his own time to take a quick look. I hope he can make it. Did you get your shower estimate today? Did is sound reasonable? The weather was gorgeous today. Tomorrow is suppose to be even a few degrees warmer. This is crazy weather for winter, but I am not complaining. :sunny: Tip of the Day from Self Magazine, Sep 2010 Weird diet tricks that really work Use plates and utensils whenever you snack, and sit down to enjoy your nibble, even if it's only for 20 minutes. Why It Works: People were more likely to perceive food as a snack if they finished eating it in 10 minutes or ate while standing up, according to a study in the journal of Appetite. On the other hand, sitting down for 30 minutes made people more likely to count the grub as a meal, which might have helped them feel more satisfied and turn down extra food later on. Break out the good tableware: using ceramic plates and cloth napkins also made diners more likely to consider food a meal. |

It's a pain to not have heat or hot water. Well, we got an estimate and it was way over what we thought it would be. I have another company coming on Monday, but I'm pretty sure it will be more than I want to pay. Chris was researching it and he says he could do it. We were quoted $5100 to take out the tub and replace it with a shower. I was thinking $2000-$3000. It sure was nice out yesterday. We cleaned up the yard a bit. A bunch of sticks and branches had fallen from our big maple tree. Are you still planning on coming tomorrow? Please check the weather....you don't need to be driving thru severe thunderstorms. Have a wonderful Friday! |

I think places like Home Depot offer "Do It Yourself" classes for some things. Plus with the internet now, there are a lot more resources to help a person figure out how to do home repairs and customization for themselves and spend less money. It may just take a bit longer. Still plan on visiting tomorrow. My husband plans on coming too now. So it will be a whole family trip. I hope that is okay with you. Still plan on arriving sometime close to 1200. If you need to reach me before then, just send me an e-mail :comp: like you did when I was traveling last summer. Looking forward to the visit. Oh, and I almost forgot...tomorrow is weigh-in. So let the sunshine and scale smile upon us.:cheer3: Good luck!:cheer2: Tip of the Day from Self Magazine, Sep 2010 Weird diet tricks that really work Make like a Monk Eat one meal per week in complete silence. Turn off your iPod and the TV, and even tell your dining partner to pipe down. Why It Works. Research shows that a noisy environment leads diners to speed-eat, so that by the time they realize they're full, they've already taken in too much food. But slower tunes are not an antidote, because soft music can make you linger at the table longer, leading you to eat more. Dialing down loud distractions during meals also can enhance the flavors, smells, and textures of each dish, so you can actually enjoy every bite more. Peaceful eating! :cofdate: |

30 minute walk Meals Bean Burrito Swiss cheese sandwich Mock chicken patty, guacamole with chips Clementine We had a nice visit with you yesterday. You are a terrific hostess. Thank you for the fantastic lunch and your friendship. I am glad you liked your gifts. We had no problems driving with the storm. The storm hit just as we arrived at our second friend's house, and quickly whipped through, so by the time we left after an hour later, the sun was shining again. Her electricity went out just as we arrived at her door, but they also have a power generator for back up. So all worked out fine. I hope you have a terrific Monday. Give those fuzzy babies a rub on the nose from me. Stay warm. Tip of the Day from Self Magazine, Sep 2010 Happy and Healthy Think positive if you want to avoid getting sick this season. An important part of the immune system strengthens as people become more optimistic and weakens as they become more pessimistic, a study from the University of Kentucky in Lexington shows. Sunny thoughts influence hormones that aid your ability to fight off invaders. Now that's something to smile about. |

We are suppose to get some rain over the next few days. We definitely need it. The ground is still overly dry here. So what did you get for an estimate from Bathfitters? You didn't have a very big lunch yesterday. Maybe you ate a lot of fruit, which is definitely healthy. :cb: I do think you look as if you lost weight from the last time I visited with you. You have more of a middle curve showing, which is good! Keep up the good work. :cp: Tip of the Day from Fitness RX, Dec 2015 Sleep Deprivation Increases Obesity Risk Lack of sleep disrupts energy balance, which determines whether you gain weight, lose weight, or stay the same-according to a literature review and meta-analysis conducted by David Allison and colleagues from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Sleep deprivation increases a hormone called ghrelin, which promotes appetite. It also reduces leptin, a hormone that normally suppresses appetite. Some studies have found that inadequate sleep increased the risk of obesity by 200 percent. Inadequate sleep was also linked to diabetes and high blood pressure. So, it is very important to get adequate sleep time! |

Yes, I think Chris could do a good job for a lot cheaper too. We are suppose to get cold tonight, swing to a stormy 70 degrees tomorrow and then get cold again. Hope we don't get any hail or tornadoes. Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday! Tip of the Day from Fitness RX, Dec 2015 Fat Burning Greatest After Overnight Fast Exercising following an overnight fast will burn more fat than exercising after breakfast. When fasted, test subjects showed blood sugar was lower, while free fatty acids, growth hormone, and cortisol were higher than when subjects ate breakfast. Consistently exercising while fasted in the morning should result in greater fat burning and fat loss than exercising after breakfast. |

Taking it easy today Meals 2 eggs and 2 veggie strips Tofu scramble, bit of Irish cheese ...More to come It's Ash Wednesday and the first of March! My how time flies. I started the wee hours of the morning in excruciating pain in the right side of my abdomen. So off we went to the hospital at 1:30 AM. Received a couple different pain killers and nausea medicine, and had a CAT scan to confirm that it was another kidney stone working its way out. Too bad they are not made of gold, so I could get rich off them. So of course I took off from work today due to the medication and just recovering. Thank you for the beautiful Thank you card. I got it in the mail today and it brightened my day. Perfect timing. You are so thoughtful. Tip of the Day from Fitness RX, Dec 2015 Eat Protein and Vegetables Before Carbs Eating protein and vegetables before carbs promotes blood sugar regulation. Eating vegetables and protein before carbohydrates resulted in lower post-meal blood sugar levels in overweight people with type 2 diabetes according to a study. ---------------------------------------------- Wind, storm, and rain just blew in ... and blew in with high winds. So I got to cut this short for now. |
