Good morning ladies,

I have to work this morning at the shop. I'd rather not, but I promised I'd cover for a friend. It's going to be beastly hot again and they are warning flash flooding tonight. We might get an inch of rain - the weather has been crazy. There were areas that really got hit bad with downed trees and washouts from the storm that work us up at 4:30 a few days ago. Half the siding is off my deck, the retention wall is mostly gone as is all the deck save for the entry into my house. They replaced our front entry door and by nightfall of the very same day they installed it, the door is rubbing so badly it's hard to lock and unlock. Don't think this has to do with the deck work as there is a big section around the door that they left alone so we can enter and leave the house. Always something :dizzy: The swelling in my leg finally went down but I am still feeling pretty achey. Will sit at the shop as much as I can. DH is coming with me as extra hands - what a sweetie!

Ceejay - glad you made it to Branson all right - I forgot you are getting ready to RELOCATE :yay: How exciting for you :D :D :D Don't work too hard.

Laura - I was more used to train delays with frozen switches but I guess the heat and swelling keeps them from switching too. Such a complicated thing - railroads! Thanks for the explanation - now I remember Arnold Palmers. People at the cafeteria at work would mix iced tea and lemonade to make their own from the fountain drinks.

Stay cool in this heat everyone! Enjoy your weekend.

Laura705 07-23-2016 06:26 PM

Evening all. We're under a storm watch & it's getting dark out there!

Ceejay - Nice you got some scenic views on your drive. Safe travels home. Sounds like your new digs are already becoming home - getting mail there & doing yard work. :D

Happy - Nice of hubby to be your helper at the shop today. :) Aaaargh re the door!! Hope you don't get too much rain tonight. :crossed:

==
Very boring day today. I'm on load #3 of laundry. Otherwise we're just keeping watch over doggy, who was throwing up yesterday & had diarrhea today. :( He's on the rice/ beef diet now. Wouldn't eat the meds with banana, but did eat them with liver sausage, lol. Hope it's just a short- lived upset belly. Bf is worried it's something more serious because it's the 3rd bout of this in a the past month. I hope it's just his digestive tract being more sensitive in his old age. :(

That's it for me. G'night Worldlies.

Morning all,

I've been around the State in trains and planes and cars last week and one would have thought that I had time to post, however it didn't happen and so here I am, in Sydney, on a pleasant Sunday morning. I'll be here until Tuesday morning by the look of it, then back to Dubbo and Grafton over the next two weeks. That leaves only one week to go. I'm expecting them to offer an extension but I won't be taking it up straight away. I'm tired and need a break and I'm tired of the confusion and lack of answers to questions - and so are the users. They are still polite but it is wearing thin. Fairly soon, there will be progress payments to be made on some of large contracts which the government has entered into and if not paid, large penalties will occur and no one will be happy. It's what you get when contingencies are not in place and the system is not stable and the training changes daily and some people don't get informed of the changes and the users get more and more confused. Sorry, forgot myself then. Rant over and will be saved for those responsible and not you nice ladies.

Susie - I'm with the others, just do what you can. Document everything. Do not do what the Admin Assistant won't and keep track of all conversations about this. If you have a list of stuff to achieve over the week and can't get it all done, ensure there is a reasonable explanation for what is not done and state the facts to the Director.

Happy - the body has a way of telling us to slow down. Listen to it. Check out the dietary requirements for arthritis sufferers, there are some things that apparently trigger inflammations. It's all very well to volunteer and do nice things for the community but it should not be at the expense of your health and relationships. We are all getting older and with that comes various niggly ailments which can escalate in a big way.

Laura - not good about Coal. It's so hard when they get old and things start to break down and they can't tell us what is wrong. Good work on the pound down.

Annie - hope all is settling down for you. Such a stressful time you have just had. Some people need to talk about those loved ones we have lost and others bottle it up and get upset with the talkers. It's a hard road to walk down without upsetting one or another.
Don't they know what they are looking for with these reports - always having to change things.

Ceejay - exciting times for you. It's great that you went a different way to the new place. I love doing that. Sometimes it's a bit stressful, not knowing where and if you are going to get to where you want to be, but often the views are well worth the deviation. We'll make a traveller out of you yet.

Dee - Hope everything is going right for you and the garage sale, not to mention the house sale is going smoothly.

The weather here is crazy too. In Sydney we are going between low summer temps and then next thing rain, sleet and snow. Brisbane has had the highest winter day temp in 70 years (28C or 86F) We have snow and ice in one part of the country and floods and fires in others. Rain where it is not usual to have rain at this time of the year and drought in areas where winter rains and snows feed the rivers and lakes.
Apparently it is not Global Warming according to some but what ever it is, it is changing a lot of things including the seasons in this country.

Okay, well I am supposed to be going out to lunch with friends today, so I guess I need to get moving and tidy up the apartment and get on my way to town. So I will be back at some point or other. At least I am in one place from Tuesday to Friday this week and next week. I also need to go home and take some of my stuff back - probably next weekend.
Another greeting from the ODDU.

annie175 07-25-2016 01:44 PM

Hello all.....

Today's rant: when the light is yellow, that means slow the heck down, prepare to stop, not zoom through the light at 50 miles an hour. OMGoodness, could of been a very serious accident this morning, thankfully all my angels had their arms around me, plus I try to look before proceeding on a green light. You just never know. End rant...

The weekend was uneventful. Other then church, errands and laundry, can't say I did much more than that. I need to get out into my tiny garden and give it some attention but it is too stinkin hot out there, even at 8 in the morning. I just don't know how people work out in this heat. It is awful.

It took me extra time to walk to and from meeting at lunch. For some reason my hips were hurting when I walked. OMG not that too. Hopefully it will pass. Getting old sucks, more than I ever thought it would. And I am not going to say it beats the alternative as I think the alternative is the ultimate! :)

SHADDIE...I don't know which is worse the job you are on now or the one in the mine? How on earth do you manage to get such cruddy postions? It might be good for you to go home for a while and retrain ODDU....haha

LAURA...I am feeling saddness where COAL is concerned. It is not sounding good. Did you take him to the vet about the 3 round of vomiting and diarrhea? Kids and animals can just rip our hearts out. I am guessing you took Monday off. Our weather has been hotter the h*ll here with storms too. This weekend storms stayed north of Indy so no rain for us, just the mug.

CEEG...I have been through that area of where you speak. Beautiful. Branson in itself is very interesting. Glad you had safe travels and are having fun with things. Good for the soul.

HAPPY...Me thinks you need to be put on the "Do not call" list for the thrift shop. lol And a few other places for that matter. Might you be spreading yourself too thin? You need more you time to heal my sister. Doesn't it just pee you off that our legs and feet are giving us such trouble, it does me. To no end for that matter. Hope the door situates itself so it doesn't rub around the edges. Dang that would pee me off also. Then the deck and hot tub. I would be teed off more than not if I were you. Oh wait, use my steps and be serene. Yikes.

SUSIE...whew who on the lbs down. Keep up the good work. Too bad working at our desk/computer doesn't burn fat and calories. We would be beyond skinny.

Hello to the rest of ya!

Make it a great Monday/night.

MyChoice2bfit 07-25-2016 07:03 PM

Good golly it is hot!!! When I got in the car after work tonight, the temp said 100!!

I have some good news to report. My 15/16 work contributions are done, approved and the manager statement is glowing! I believe this will all lead to a high rating like I have had for the past 10 years and that drives the raises. I will know for sure in October. A little birdie gave me a smile and thumbs up as well, so that tells me a lot.

Now that those are signed off on, I will ask the Director tomorrow if the AD can move me to him as my manager. I will still support her until they get the position filled but she won't be my manager. I am so ready for that.

Laura: I hope Coal is doing better. Makes me sad he has been sick like that.

How did you do with the ice cream party?

Shad: Thank you for the advice, I am heading it.

Good for you for taking a break for a bit.

Annie: it sounds like you had a pretty peaceful weekend....that is a good thing.

Sorry to hear your hips were hurting. It could be because with the ankle yiu might not be moving around enough and sitting link we do isn't good for us. I need to get back to using my sit and stand desk more. And I mean more on the stand side!!

Happy, so much work going on at your house! But it has to feel good to get it all rolling so your can get it done and in good order. Especially that dang door!!

Ceejay: it sounds like you are getting things in place for your move and retirement. Can you beleive it is almost here?!

I posted from my phone so if anything looks wonky that I posted that is why.

See you all tomorrow!

annie175 07-26-2016 08:02 AM

Good Morning All...

C has a gal on his route that takes his stale bread to feed her chickens, in turn we get two dozen eggs every other week. With that said, I made breakfast for dinner as we had 3 1/2 dozen eggs taking up space in the fridge. Sauteed potatos, onions, mushrooms, green peppers, then added ham, eggs and cheese. Served with toast. That was it. Oh juice, coffee and water.

Royce has been carrying a fever for the past few days with no other symptoms. We have decided it is more back teeth coming in. Poor lil guy. He feels like crap and is VERY whiny.

SUSIE...we all knew/know you rock at your job. Just glad they all recognize it. You are such an awesome gal. Kudos!

Everyone make it a great Tuesday/night.

Hugs.

annie175 07-26-2016 08:05 AM

Hello Dee...see you posting over my head. I knew there was an angel floating about! :) Giving things away will come back to you tenfold. You are a good person! Hugs sister.

miniDoodles 07-26-2016 08:22 AM

Arghh. I tapped edit & lost my post :(

Annie, Yum :p on your food bounty, I'll hop on my magic carpet & be at your home for dinner :p just tell me what you need done, a sous cook or clean-up.
Poor Royce  feeling terrible in these temps.

Ok, my post said:

Hi everyone :smug: our summer temps have been really crazy & fall will begin way too soon. We finally got rain last Sunday for about 2 hours, my garden needed it badly because it's not the same as watering our plants. Our garage sale was nice, meeting new people. I'm a pushover with giving lots of free items when I see people wanting them, I gave away about $200 of very nice items. My hubby kept getting upset with me. Then when he went to work the following Monday he found out that his company was cutting employees weekly hour's to 32 hours wkly for 4 weeks, ouch on paying our bill's & our summer property tax bill due in September. If I had known about his paycheck I wouldn't have given away all those items at our garage sale :(

Annie, I'm sorry that now your hips were hurting  Do you have a pool or hot tub to soak in, maybe go sit in the g-babes kiddy pool & let the boy's splash their Grammy :D I agree with you about the careless drivers, in May a 20'ish yrs female driver side-swiped my car when she was changing lanes & she didn't pull into the nearest parking lot to check out my car, I waited about 10 minutes for her. She just kept driving. My car had a 2 foot minor scratch but I reported it to the police department & the female officer was a jerk to me...

Okay everyone, Duh, our Lord obviously doesn't want us yet, HE's keeping us here to help those who need us, so we just gotta take care of our bodies ;) keep using Tylenol, Band-aids & Super-glue :D & duct tape ourselves together.

Happy, I think you should sit down in your hot tub & while your relaxing, use the speech feature on your laptop to dictate a book, the memoirs your life past & present ;) I'd buy it to read :book2: Dh could use his photos in it. Your latest chapter could be the saga of the deck & door remodeling, & other problems like a chapter about the incompetent washer repairman :dizzy: Send those chapters to the Small Business Licensing Bureaus to pass Your equivalency test :D But I sincerely Do admire you & your life values

Ceej, It's awesome that you'll live near Branson. I've heard Missouri is a beautiful state. If Dh & I ever travel through your state we'll contact you to meet up for lunch ;) together possibly during the next 2 yrs we'll drive down south to get away from Michigan's freezing winter temps for 2 weeks. Will you miss Arkansas?

Hey, I'm bringing baby chicks to the commune for yummy fresh eggs :p I'm growing a herb garden for delish teas & cooking :smug: I hope you'all like buttermilk biscuits, cornbread, soups/chowder, veggies. We can take turns fishing  too. It's going to be fun taking turns doing everything, no boredom & getting tips from each other ;) Enough of the daydreaming....

I'll try to come back tonight to do more personals. I have a few problems I need to get solved today otherwise I'll dread tomorrow & I won't sleep well tonight.

 Have a fun Taco Tuesday :grouphug:

Laura705 07-26-2016 12:02 PM

Morning all, just a quick hello. Catching up at work.

ceejay52 07-26-2016 07:35 PM

Whew, We are having a thunderstorm right now and something just sizzled. Why me! But we need the rain. Everything seems to be okay. No phone calls.

My trip was successful. I managed to get two of the utilities turned on by myself. I drove around for the third one but didn't go far enough. The map I had was not very good. I had to call my sister to come and get me in Springfield. I panicked as I got turned around and it was rush hour traffic. Then she took me to the last one which was to get the electric in my name. I was running out of time. I did find a gps on my phone but she had already left. Funny thing was, my bil was driving back from Dallas and beat me home. Oh well. I got to see some countryside that I'd never seen before. It was an experience. I put some miles on my vehicle. My sister is going by the house to pick up the mail and yes I had a couple of pieces of mail in the mailbox. Things are coming together.
It's getting close to shift change so I'll comment tomorrow.

annie175 07-27-2016 08:55 AM

Good Morning All...

HUMP day, H*LL day, TRASH day...ok let's get through this day.

CEEG...proud of you for getting out and about in your new moving locaiton.

LAURA...hi ya back at cha!

Fixed HAPPY's recipe that was posted on FB. Asparagas Carbonara It was all too bland for me. Lots of leftovers as the others in the house was not too keen on it either. Needed something but not sure what.

My weight is up 1 lb today. bleh. I think maybe cause no bathroom visits for a couple of days, plus my eating has been OP but portions too big. Back at it today. Only two weeks till surgery. I don't think I am going to make it to 10 lb loss. Epic Failure again. I am going to quit setting myself up for this crappy failure, makes me feel like crap about myself.

Rough day for C and he took it out on me via texting yesterday. WOW, I don't know about him some times.

Bout it, on to better things.

Hello to all

happy2bme 07-27-2016 10:02 AM

Hi ladies,

Sorry I haven't posted - been crazy busy the last couple of days and I have not been on my computer. I am glugging coffee right now as I have to run off in 30 minutes and go get my blood tests (Vit D and B12) for my doctor visit on Monday. Will be back to catch up after that.

miniDoodles 07-27-2016 12:35 PM

Good morning Chicklets :)
I didn't get our screwed up health insurance problems finished yesterday, so this is a quick post. Dh thinks by venting to business employees that he'll get his way; as a former customer service manager yrs ago I've explained to him that we were trained how to handle people like him. I always call back & apologize for him to do damage control about the problem. Dh uses a nice voice to them but his angry words to the employees are uncalled for, since they don't make company policy. Today I have 2 calls with our records to be corrected, fingers crossed I speak to a intelligent customer rep.

Ceej, Yeah for your move getting ready :carrot:

Asparagus is one of my least favorite veggies. We have it growing wild just outside of our woods & 2 local restaurant chefs buy it from us yrly for its flavor. Dh used to take it to work & the guys sauteed it in fresh bacon drippings.

Dh had his semiannual oncology appt yesterday. He's in perfect health his CT & labs show & to just get a annual lab test & she'd see him again in 2 yrs. Then I asked if she could refer him to a method to teach him to 'chill out & stop criticizing me when I drive & stop him hurting me being a grouch at home, because Dh has the attitude that His opinion is the final/only one that matters' for the last few years. His oncologist is a 4'10" American born Chinese 40 yr old married female that put Dh in check by looking at Dh telling him if he starts telling me how to drive, to go take a nap in our car backseat & remain there until he becomes pleasant. Instead of grouching & yelling at me at home, I should hand him a notebook & a Sharpie marker to complain, soon he'll revise his crabby ways because he'll get tired of writing & get over his petty attitude. Also for me to walk away or go shopping & ignore him until he hands me his notebook to read & understand him, because nobody deserves verbal abuse. I'm not a yeller, instead I'll repeat it up to 3x then walk away if I'm not acknowledges what I said (is anyone listening :dizzy: or are you zoned out) or I may change the topic completely with a silly joke, I don't get angry easily. Dh was stunned & his doctor hugged me 2x, then & again as we left. She did not hug Dh, she told him to follow her instructions & if Dh felt it was justified to yell & criticize me, to only do it on the 31st day of the month for 2 minutes, so do it fast & see what a intelligent/loving husband you feel like. I asked her how she got that incite & she said living with a cancer patient is heartbreaking for the spouse & half the marriages end in divorce. Dh shook her hand & said Thank you for our marriage counseling :smug:

Annie, When I had a weight plateau yrs ago a Naturopathy doctor asked if I took a probiotic pill daily & if I ate at least 20 grams of fiber daily & if I took 1 day off from having my calcium tablet & drank +8 cups of water; & soda pop & juice does not count as water. My answers were all no. I now do all of those things & I eat using the serving size method on my plate, unlimited healthy foods & just 1 serving size of desserts, chips, etc. daily which includes just 1 alcohol drink which I add 1-2 ice cubes to it. Your challenge made me lose 3 1/2 pounds so far by not eating my ice cream serving after 5pm. I'm also drizzling buttermilk dressing on lots of foods/veggies because I love the tartness I let 1 ice cube melt into a cup with 2 dressing serving sizes to extend it. I hope that something I mentioned may make sense to help you :smug:

I'll be back to chat with you'all again when I get a chance

Shad 07-28-2016 06:55 AM

Evening all,

Time is moving along. I need to get to bed. I am beyond tired. But there are things to do first. Gotta pack the bags for the trip back to Sydney tomorrow and get showered and try to figure out a way to get this access card back to the owners - reception closes at 4.30pm and I didn't finish the chores until 4.38 and by the time I got back there it was too late. Aaah well all will be revealed.

Was tempted to give it all away yesterday - had such a bad day training and trying to honestly answer questions I have no answers for without lying and saying that some ****wit didn't stop to think that everything was in the cr*p. That doesn't go down too well.

I'm on a flight out early in the morning. I will get to bed now and catch this flight out. Then I will be at the apartment for the weekend and I will have time to get a decent post in here.

annie175 07-28-2016 09:18 AM

Good Day Chicklets....

Came home to a completely cleaned house. Sam worked her heiny off yesterday, also all of the laundry was done. What a great way to start the night. I made alfredo sauce and added it to the carbonara I made the night before, put cheese on top then baked it till bubbly. It was much tastier and probably more caloric but we liked it much better.

SHADDIE...Oh the whoa's of training. Bleh. Safe travels my dear sister.

DEE...I don't drink soda or juice, so it is a matter of more water. Already do calcium. Pretty much already eat healthy with a few slip ups. Great the doc stuck up for you and called DH out on his nastiness. Sometimes it takes an outsider to make someone realize things. Hugs.

HAPPY...did you get your shots? and lab work? I need to stop by the clinic to get my lab work done. I am running out of time.

Make it a great day all. Hugs
