Afternoon all.
Michelle – How fun you got to see the Brett F. interview in person! Happy – How crummy that someone stole the money from the shop. How awful is this person to steal from a charitable organization. Since ribs take long anyway, I’d probably just not bother with the Instant Pot. Three hours in a 300 degree oven is how we do ours.---Re gaining fat cells when you gain weight – my understanding is that you don’t gain more fat cells after you’re fully grown (adult).--- So is that Masala workout like a Bollywood style workout?? :D :belly: Annie – Nice your son spent time with you last night. Hellos to the rest of the gang. == Nothing much to report. I skipped Pilates last night. I heated up some chili for dinner and ate that while watching another episode of Outlander. I went to bed, read a book for a while and then went to sleep around 9:30. I woke around 2 am with my neck hurting. I think I must be doing something like Linda Blair in the Exorcist – head spinning around. My pillow has not shipped from Amazon yet. I think it’s supposed to ship today. Hope so. Sigh. Then I woke up again at 5 am. Wearing that new nightguard for only about 5 hours on Sunday night was fine, but wearing it 7-8 hours last night apparently is a whole ‘nother matter. I woke feeling like I’d been clenching my teeth, but when I pulled out the contraption, my teeth felt fine, but my jaws – ouch! They’re still sore. This thing positions your lower jaw out a bit to open up your air passage to help eliminate snoring. Okay, this is only day 2, but I’ll see how it goes for another few weeks because I don’t intend to live with constant jaw pain. No plans for tonight. I’m skipping the movie (they picked that movie 13 hours in Benghazi, or whatever the title of that movie is). Not for me. Bf has his class, so I will see if I can be self-disciplined and do a workout video. I also have to restart my plank challenge. I missed a day last week, then I tweaked the challenge a bit to suit myself & printed the revised sheet out, but didn’t get back to it over the weekend. So tonight will be the restart night. I have my performance review in about 45 min. Whoopee. The boss already gave us his written comments and everything looks reasonable with mine. I’m sure I’ll leave the meeting with several goals for 2016 so we can start all over again. That’s it for me, so I’ll copy and paste. TTFN. |
Happy
think I'm going to like the "up sizing" of a house that is new to me. Hope I can afford the utility payment. And I don't remember seeing any stairs in this house when my niece lived in it. I'm getting excited. Wow, a burglary at the store! Sounds like it may be an inside job. Did some one take home the money not knowing they were not supposed? I would be glad to babysit with my sister's grand kids if needed. Laura We were supposed to get the snow showers yesterday but they didn't materialize. Sure is cold outside today. I hadn't thought about checking out the DVD's at a Dollar Store. May need to do that on Thursday. Michelle You have more stamina than I do for getting up to exercise before work. I'm proud of you for following through with your plan. Annie Nothing like your son wanting momma's cooking. My triggers on diverticulosis are the nuts, corn and a binge on sweets. I can eat a few nutss but not many. ---- My bff in Jonesboro texted after midnight. I don't respond at that time. She's not as upset as I thought she would be. So I'm glad about that. |
Hi Everyone. It is only Tuesday and I feel like I have worked all week and that it needs to be Friday.
We had snow today. A lot of people stayed home and worked. I went in; DH and I rode together (we do that a lot anyway). I drop him off and keep going. I would rather we are on the road together in bad weather if we have to be out. The plan is that I will go with him and if we get to his work and it is really bad, then I will go to the Target down the road from where he works and work in the Starbucks there until he gets off. We have never had to do this but it is good to have a plan. I didn't end up getting a new phone on Saturday but went and looked a lot of them and then came home and thought about it. DH's charger at work quit working and he needed a new one so tonight once we got back home, we went to our local Verizon store, got him a new charger and I decided on the Samsung Galaxy Note. My brother has one and loves it. I'm looking forward to learning how to use it. We picked up a pizza on the way home so that and a salad was supper. DH is out shoveling the porch and sidewalks and driveway and I'm trying to catch up here and also get some of this office file work filed away. I'm drowning in paper again. It is all in this big basket I through everything in. Annie: How nice that you do Sassy's towels and things. She is fortunate to have a mamma who does that. I agree that Lady Gaga did a nice job on the National Anthem. I actually like most of her music. She has a really good voice. Sure, she is shocking at times...but that gets her attention and makes her money. I watched a interview with her a few years ago and after I saw it, I even liked her more. She's actually very interesting and seemed to be a down-home sort of gal once you get past that craziness. She comes from a very wealthy family and went to Catholic school. The nuns said she comes back often and does a lot for the school. Ceejay: I need to go back and see what I missed with this house and you, or you can fill me in? Happy: Oh my goodness a burglary at the store! and to think it is a inside job. So sad that someone would do that. When I was reading about the knees and the t-band issue, I could feel exactly what you were talking about. Remember this time last year when I was doing physical therapy? It was for the same reason, weak hip flexors. I too had a lady therapist that specialized in female pelvis work. She really got me back up on my feet so to speak and as long as I do my exercises at home twice a week I stay in pretty good shape. I did PT for 9 weeks. I think it is going to help you a lot. Michelle: How exciting to get to see Brett do a live interview! How many more weeks do you have to train for the marathon? How are the headaches? Laura: It sounds like you had a nice Super Bowel party. 12:30 is late to get to bed for sure when one has to work the next day. I never thought of looking for work-out videos at the Dollar Store. I will look the next time I go. I love to go in there and browse. How did your review go? Shad: Glad to hear it is cooling down there for you a bit. I love the fall time of the year. Dee & Terra: We miss you. Please come back! |
Probably won't get back here today. I should be in bed already. Up at 6am to get over to an early morning physical therapy evaluation 30 minutes from here. Then rush back to the shop to catch our monthly meeting and talk about the burglary no doubt. Run home, catch a bite to eat, then off to yoga. After that make a quick supper and I was invited to games with friends at a friend's house. I tried to take a pass but they moved the night to something that was open on my schedule. :faint: And I have to remember it's Ash Wednesday - no meat today. Will make it easier not to nibble or drink wine at games night. Thursday is a hair appointment and then Weight Watchers. Weigh in comes too soon! Will probably catch you on Thursday kids.
|
Susie - that is really positive encouragement about the physical therapy. I will pay close attention to what she tells me to do. Thank you for that feedback.
 |
BUUUURRRRrrrrrrrrrrrr! My car said 15 degrees and nearly 0 with windchill. My body from the waist down is achy. Must be the cold temps and old age to boot. Lent, let's see what to do for lent? Some of my friends have given up Facebook, just doesn't seem like a "lent" thing but ok. Think I will give up exercise, hahahahahha, good at that one.
NOt much happening here, homemade pizza for dinner last night since I made an extra one the night before to have last night. Quite easy, popped it in the oven, ta dah! C was in a cranky mood last night as he is still fighting sinus/throat stuff. He is going back to the doc today. I told him he MUST go back to the doc as I cannot stand his crankiness anymore. He asked me if I had given up on him. I certainly paused before I answered that one. I wanted to say well yes, take care of yourself. Hair appointment tonight. Man my hair grows fast and furthermore the 5 weeks between cuts goes even faster. HAPPY...good luck at therapy today. Hope you get the help/answers you are looking for. Another busy day for you ending with game night, by then I am sure you will just want to be home. SUSIE...good luck with the new phone. Sometimes it is fun to figure out the new phone, other times not so much, especially when you need something quick and don't know how to do it. Must of been pizza Tuesday in Ohio and Indiana. CEEG...glad BFF is ok with your move, altho, it really didn't matter, it is what makes you happy in your life choices, not her. Hugs LAURA/LINDA...(Blair) hope the pillow gets there soon and you get your neck feeling better quick. Almost laughed at your Exorcist comment. Don't forget vomiting the green pea soup. bleh. Did you enjoy your "me" night? Hello to all, make it a great hump day/night. Hugs |
Annie
Not as cold her at 22 degree's. I can feel the air in my bones this morning., especially. I keep telling myself that I need to take care of me in this process. Susie My sister in Missouri has offered me her rental which is a 3 bedrooms 2 baths house to live in when I move to Missouri I'm looking forward to it. I have the GalaxyS5 phone and I love it. Happy You are a busy person as usual. Laura What kind of pillow did you get? ----- Watched some tv last night. Fit to Fat to Fit was on. Don't know why I like weight loss shows but I do. I have a doctor's follow up on Thursday. He will probably check my b12 level's again. |
Morning all. Happy Hump Day. Chilly here, but at least it's sunny. :sunny:
Ceejay – I hope the house doesn’t have a lot of stairs. My mom still has to go downstairs to do her laundry and it’s difficult for her. One of my HS friends just moved from a 2-story to a ranch home. It has a basement, though, and it’s older, so I’m almost sure the laundry is in the basement. But just eliminating the daily up and down between 1st and 2nd floors is a big benefit. Re the dvd’s at the dollar store (I go to Dollar Tree), I never thought to look at them in the past because I don’t buy movies (but for $1 it’s cheaper than everything but the library, LOL), but once a workout dvd caught my eye, I decided it was worth a periodic look. Oh, this is the pillow I have on order: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o00_s00 Susie – It’s nice you’re not on the road alone in bad weather. Is the Galaxy Note one of those that’s bigger than the average cell phone but smaller than a tablet? Drowning in paper – that’s a good way to put it! I need to get a grip on the piles as well. My performance review went fine. Raises companywide are measley this time around, but the oil prices/market is affecting our business, so we are tightening up to get through it. As expected, I already have a couple potentials goals for 2016. Happy – You are a busy chick today! Hope all went well with PT this morning. Annie – You know I’ve never seen The Exorcist and I’d forgotten about the pea soup part (now I might never watch it!). What’s funny is that I actually had pea soup for lunch yesterday, LOL. ---Poor C, hope he feels better soon. Or at least stops with the crankiness! ---Yes, I enjoy having the “me time” on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I can do whatever on my own schedule. I don't have to worry that doing a workout is holding up dinner time for both of us. Hellos to the rest of you! == Last night I did one of my new Firm workout dvd’s. It was a “muscle shaping” workout. It used weights and a step. The step was used in various ways, and of course it featured the Firm’s own special step which is adjustable to two different heights, and then it can also be used with one side at the higher height, i.e., on an incline. I didn’t care for all that, and I think the workout can basically be done without the step. I used my step (which is not the same), and it’s also adjustable in height, but it’s a slower process to raise and lower it – awkward. The choreography was a bit too quick for me, but then again, it was my first time trying this workout. It intersperses and combines weight moves with step moves and was very challenging. I probably only got about a third of the way through it before stopping. Next time I may do it with limited use of the step. Anyway, even with not doing the whole thing, I did get a decent workout. I also started (again) with Day 1 of my tweaked 30-day plank challenge. I watched another episode of Outlander. This episode didn’t have anything that I recalled from the Outlander book. I might find this show too slow-moving for me if I can no longer follow along with what I’ve read. I only have two more episodes for this season. Season 2 has not even begun airing yet, and after that I’ll have to wait for the dvd’s to hit my library because this show is on a cable channel we don’t get (Starz). I’ll think about if I want to read more of the books. I believe I’ve already read at least two of them. I think the reason I didn’t continue with them is that they are very long books and can be heavy on the history. I had more jaw pain overnight and ended up moving to the living room. I think that when I sleep on my side, there's much pressure on my jaw because of the nightguard. If I can't sleep on my side with this thing, then it will not be used. I'm pretty sure I'm skipping it tonight. I can't get a full night's sleep when I'm having to be careful of my neck and jaw. I will phone the dentist in the next couple days to talk with him about it. On the bright side...the boss is out through the end of the week. I'm meeting up with my friend and her sister and we're getting massages on Saturday morning (using a gift card) and then we'll get lunch. And I have the day off work on Monday for Presidents' Day. Whoo! Oops, thought I'd posted this! |
Ok C went to the doc. He has bronchitis. Sheesh, anything else. He is now on Doxycyline and an inhaler. He is home in bed now. Hopefully by the time I get home he will be better or at least civil...hahaha
|
Dammit - I hate it when the whole text highlights and then deletes the post while I am typing the next sentence. Grr.
Morning all, Can't think of all that I have written except that I have a few appliances going wrong at the same time and that ODDU and the cats are having a bit of a tiff in the dining room. They will get over it and I will get a techie out to see to the oven and the dishwasher. Laura - Sorry to hear about the B/F's mum and her siblings. It is hard to see your brothers and sisters getting older and more frail. You think that you are doing okay until you see your older siblings and then you suddenly don't feel so spritely. Thanks for the link to the firelighter thing. I don't normally have a problem lighting the weber but this time I really didn't have enough firelighters to get it going fast. We got dinner, but a little later than normal. Hope you get the mouthguard contraption sorted soon. Doesn't sound good having a sore jaw and a bad shoulder. Enjoy the massage and the day off. You probably need it to get around the appraisal and the new goals Michelle - interesting going to watch a tv show taped. Glad you enjoyed it even if I have little idea about who Brett is! Good luck with the half marathon. Happy - what a deadhead to steal the money from the humane society. I suppose if you are desperate enough these things happen, but I can't imagine stealing from a place that I work or volunteer. ***!hole. Hope they find out who it is soon. Cameras - get cameras! Hope DH's cold is now all better. Maybe with the accolades his photography is getting his head will swell and he will be able to breathe more easily  Hope you get some help with the PT and getting those muscles moving again. Mine get stiff occasionally but a bit of bending and digging in the garden usually manages to straighten that out. Annie - brrrr that is cold. I could only take that for a very short time. It's nice for a while. Hope C gets better soon. Better tell him that the sooner he gets rid of the crap going on and eats better, the sooner you will stop being cranky. Ceejay - nice of your sister to offer the house to you. Biggest problem with having a bigger house is that you gather more cr*p - stuff. It's no bodies business but yours as to where and when you go after you retire. Susie - You probably need another weekend - like Laura does - just to get over the superbowl. I know only too well the feeling of having worked long and hard and it is only Tuesday. Good that you travel in to work together to keep each other safe in the snow. Nice to have a new phone. I probably should change mine before it becomes a problem, however I hate phones and will leave this until the last minute. I refuse to pay big $$$$ for one and I usually get the cheapies. I have a bucket of paper work as well to go through, chuck or file. I'm working on clearing up in the spare room at the moment so keep finding all sorts of bits and pieces to decide what to do with. We don't have Autumn as you know it here in the sub tropics. Some trees will lose their leaves, but generally there isn't a lot of colour around. Just the mess of the fallen leaves. Most of the time, the new leaves are pushing the old ones off and the wind blows them around the yard. Good job I am not too fussy about the mess and just sweep it up and put the old leaves in the garden from time to time. It is nice tho' to have cooler nights for sleeping better. Well that's about it for the personals. Might go get dressed and do some early work out in the garden. Starting to get the vegetable beds ready for planting now. We (ODDU and I) should start on sowing peas and corn seeds today. Then it is a matter of keeping him off the garden. He is learning, but sometimes it is a real effort to get him to obey. In this house, the German Shepherd rules the house and the humans pay the bills - or so he would like to believe. Okay, I am out of here. |
Shad
I thought about all the room in the "new house" to me. I'm getting excited. And you are right, it's no one's business but mine. Laura I don't think there are any stairs. I'll check that out when I get to see the house. Does your mom still have her house up for sale? |
Hi Everyone. Easier commute this morning and more people at work.
I worked the last two hours of the day at the car dealership as the car needed new brakes on the front and an oil change and I had a fog lamp that needed replaced. Also needed to change an engine filter when they did the oil change, and the put new brake pads on my back breaks as well. We have had the car for 4 years and that is the first time we have had to do anything to the brakes. It was time I guess. And now I am $475 poorer. It's always something! But God provides in overtime! ;) Happy: I'll be looking forward to what you find out at PT, and at the shop about the robbery. I hope your DH is feeling better. Annie: You and I are having the same cold weather and it's going to be colder through the weekend. I say in 9 months there will be a baby boom in Ohio and Indiana! I'm glad to hear that C went back to the doctor. Hopefully he will get to feeling better and give a lot of thought as to why he needs to take better care of himself all around. It is easier to stay well than to get well. Are you doing anything different with your hair this time or just getting it all shaped up? My hair apt is on Monday. I'm off work, whoo..hoo!! Laura: How nice that you did get a bit of a raise and the boss is out the rest of the week and you are off Monday. :carrot: I didn't check your link for the pillow yet but I will. I feel badly for you that with the pillow issue/stiff neck and now the night guard you can't be good rest. Your plan for a massage sounds like a good one! I love any pampering things like that. Ceejay: Thanks for bringing me up to speed on the house. If it is all one floor or a ranch with a basement even, that would be good. Shad: Mr. ODDU sounds like he is running that house and that he has a lot of personality. Did you get to the garden work today? Hi to Michelle, Dee and Terra! |
Good Morning/Evening Lovely Ladies...........
Was a quiet evening at home. C was in bed when I got home, napping. He didn't get up til almost 7pm. I watched some TV, had stuffed portabella mushroom caps for dinner, played on my phone, did some laundry. He got up, ate and went back to bed. Good place for a grouch that feels badly. C is such a hoot, so he gets up this morning and says, I don't feel much better at all, I had to laugh, well duh, you have only taken two of your antibiotics, it takes a couple of days to kick in. Nothing like wanting results YESTERDAY! Men...we need some warm temps and sunshine. Enough of this freezing stuff. My car temps said only 16 degrees and with windchill, yikes. SUSIE...I agree with you on the the baby boom in 9 months, not me, if I am preggers, it is NOT mine. lol. Ha can't even get that way if I tried. Parts are no longer in service. YEAH! I just hate putting $$ into cars, but you know they have us by the nuts, most all need cars to go to work and definitely need brakes, altho I barely use mine. ba haha. God needs to provide in OT for me, however we are not "allowed" OT. It is whatever you get done, gets done, the rest is for tomorrow. Kind of a good thing, but would also enjoy the extra $$. No OT does make one hustle to meet deadlines, skip lunch, and come in a bit early. I get it back when I have doc appts. or need to leave early. SHADDIE...I am truly enjoying all your ODDU stories. How long will DS and family be living with you? Is this permanent? Or just till his house is in order? What is the ETD (estimated time of departure) for him if going back to his house? It is really not me that is cranky, it is C with not feeling good at all that makes him cranky, I just keep quiet. He keeps asking me if I am tired of him. haha, no just do what you are told by the doc and ME! He doesn't mind very well. CEEG....I would be excited about moving to a new place and surroundings. Especially if I could move to a better climate. Really the only thing holding me back is my kids. C could sell his route and buy another in a different state/location and I could certainly find some kind of job, but I would miss my kids and gbabes too much. You know me, the emotional wreck. Anyway, glad you are happy about your decision. LAURA...how is the jaw pain? Neck Pain? PIA? lol. Hope you are getting things figured out. Maybe just wear the mouth contraption for part of the night and add time as days go by till you get used to it. I dunno. Oh the massage, I am jealous, I absolutely adore massages and need one very badly. Enjoy it for me too, double duty. Hello to the rest of youse. Have a marvy day/night. HUGS |
Good morning ladies,
Work is really, really busy....which is a very good thing. And this weekend will be busy too as a friend of mine from Wisconsin is coming to town for a work conference. I'm going to be spending Friday evening and most of Saturday and Sunday with her. I really don't have time for personals or much of anything....I've got to finish a project plan/scope/timeline in the next hour and then move on to an even more critical project. Thankfully, I've got Santa by my side. I put him in daycare yesterday because I had a lot of meetings and he gets separation anxiety (and barks a lot) when I'm away from my cubicle for too long. Gotta fly ladies! Much love and big hugs, Michelle |
Morning all. This has been the longest darn week, and it’s only Thursday. Sigh.
Annie – Glad C went to the doc and got some meds. LOL that he expected immediate relief. Yup, MEN!! Shad – The oven AND the dishwasher on the fritz at the same time!! :yikes: What a PITA. And that’s not even considering the woosh of $$$ going out the door when the techie guy arrives. I hope it’s nothing too pricey to fix.---- Between the neck and the jaw issues, it has taken the focus away from the shoulder numbness. Lucky me. :D ----Did you and the ODDU get the veges planted yesterday?? Ceejay – My mom hasn’t put her house up for sale yet. She still has some purging/downsizing to do. I need to phone my sister this weekend to discuss how we can re-jumpstart this process. Susie – Cars, car maintenance, and repairs – all necessary evils. But you're right, be thankful you are able to afford to pay for it. Hellos to the rest of you. == Brrr, chilly today. Currently 17 degrees, wind chill is 5. I was dismayed to see that the forecast for the weekend is no longer for normal winter temps (low 30’s) but is now teens/low 20’s. :( Happily, starting Monday we will having more normal temps. That’s it. End of the griping (about the weather). Didn’t do much of anything last night. Watched Outlander. One more episode to watch for Season 1. Then I’ll start on Fargo. I did day 2 of my plank challenge. Jaw is still sore. I wore my old nightguard last night. Bf was trying to be encouraging about this nightguard thing, but I have no response that wouldn’t be angry and/or whiney, so I didn't say anything. He tried to compare it to his issues with his braces, but the difference is that he is doing that to benefit himself. I’m only doing this nightguard thing to benefit him. Yes, kind of a beotchy thought, but no, I didn’t voice that thought! After all, I’ve only worn it a grand total of 3 nights. Anyway, I’ll phone my dentist today and see if he has any suggestions for me. He also wears one of these things, so he at least can empathize with me! ;) My neck hasn’t had any issues the past couple days. That’s good – I think I had suffered a pulled muscle in my neck and it was so sore, and it couldn’t heal because I kept hurting it. By not twisting my neck while I slept the past couple nights, it had chance to finally heal. According to Amazon, the new pillow is supposed to arrive "tomorrow by 8 pm". I frequently wake up around 5 am, nearly an hour before the alarm. I attribute this to the furnace kicking in at this time, as per the thermostat programming. The issue is that this is an hour early because the clock on the thermostat is set an hour ahead!! No DST settings on this thermostat, dang it! So this morning I decided to correct the time setting. Bf warned me it did not work when he tried it, and I found I was unable to change it either. Aaargh. Well, this thermostat is pretty old by now – I’d say at least 10 years old. So I will now give in to bf’s lobbying and agree to replace it with one of those fancy new smart thermostats (i.e., smarter than me). I’m hoping it’ll be more user friendly than our current one. Tonight I’ll do a workout video and Day 3 of planks. Not sure what else. Okay, time to post. TTFN. == Once again, thought I'd already posted this. |
