Hi ladies,

Angie - good luck with selling your house, and bidding on another one. Change like that is always so exciting!

We just got back from the nursing home. DH and I took the twins out to see his mom. All the old ladies flipped out over them and wanted to hold them. Makenzie didn't mind it, but Madison didn't want any part of them. She clung to me like crazy!

The weather has cooled a tad, so it's much nicer to sit on the porch with DH now. The crickets have begun their sing-song, so you know Fall is right around the corner. Yay!

Be good - see you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies...

Sorry Ive been AWOL again, but its been a busy week.
I picked up a couple of extra days work, which is good cuz the bills seem to be piling up all at once.

Ive been up since 4:30 am this morning. The puppy woke me up, so I went to let her out, and saw my hubby hadnt left for work yet. He was sitting in the car. So I went out onto the porch to see what was up and it turns out our car was broken into during the night. They didnt get much, a couple of CD's from the glove box, our cell phone charger, a sunglass case and some odds and ends. But they took hubbys breifcase, which has all his work information he needs for dispatching flights. Plus, his checkbook was in there too. I guess it could have been worse, but it still sucks!
The stuff in the breifcase is useless to anyone else, so I thought that maybe they took what they wanted and dumped the case in the trash somewhere. So after hubby left, I took the dogs, and I looked in every trash can and dumpster in the neighborhood that I could find. No such luck. 5:30 in the morning, and Im dumpster diving in the dark.

Im starting to hate this neighborhood. We had a pretty little garden angel in our front rose garden. A friend had given it to my husband when his mom died. Someone stole it. I mean I guess it could be worse, weve never had our house broken into (knock on wood), but its still makes me so mad. Thievery infuriates me. I guess these things could happen anywhere, but I sure wish I lived in the boonies like you do Jana.

Right now I have some questionable neighbors that live across the street. Theres a halfway house one block away.
Hubby assures me that this has always been a nice respectable neighborhood, but he's lived within a three block radius all his life. I dont think hes noticed the changes. I, on the other hand, as a newcomer, see it differently than he does. Theyve put in some low cost housing around the corner, and Ive seen a few "unsavory characters" roaming around.
Dont get me wrong there are some really great pople around here, and many of them have been in their houses for years. The lady two houses away has been in hers for 41 years. There are a couple of really nice young families too. But you know what they say about one bad apple....

Anyway, I could go on all day, Im sleepy and feeling kind of melancholy, so forgive my ramblings. You ladies are always a good place to vent.

I promise Ill be back later, in a better mood. Happy thoughts...happy thoughts.......

Hi Michelle,
Do you own the house? Is there a chance of relocating?
My SIL had her car broekn into yesterday also, they live in a nice house with good people around, but like you said, one bad apple. There is a reputation of it being a rough area not far from their place. I live in a brand spanking new development and we have alot of crime,,,it was reported alot of building crews had some unsavory charactors working for them...*grunt labour Anyways, they would case the places out and come back late in the night....
Anyways, better run

Unhappy

Michelle,

I am so sorry to hear about the break in of your car. It's such a feeling of violation. The last time our car was broken into was a couple of years ago, parked right in front of our house. My husband drives a standard shift car, and not many know how to drive a "shift." Someone broke the windshield to get in but then saw the clutch and probably couldn't drive it. We had a laugh over it.

I am into my fifth week of faithfully working out with The Firm. However, if I don't cut down on my intake, I'll never really see the results. I do sleep better and feel better though.

Love,
carree

Hi ladies,

Angie - hope you enjoy your book. I've always got one going, too. Right now it's an old Ed McBain mystery.

Michelle - aww, so sorry about the break in! I suppose the perp wanted to sell your Dh's briefcase. Anything for a little drug money. I know you feel violated, because it happened in our family, to Mary, when we lived in town. And yes, I'm glad we live out in the sticks. Thieves are too lazy to come out this far, lol.

Carrie - good to see you! Wtg on your progress with The Firm!

Cristi - glad you popped in, if only for a minute. That way we know you haven't left us for good, lol.

Hi to the others.

We have been moving furniture around today, and DH is getting ready to do the wainscoting and border in the living room, finally. It will be so nice when it's done.... Hope Marti is enjoying her new place.

I am worn out and am headed for a shower. See you later!

Hello everyone!

Sorry I was MIA again. We made it back from the race and I think I might finally be rested up from it. It was a VERY tirinig day, but it was woth it just to go to the race and see all those cars flying past us. We are already planning hte same trip next year and hope to make it to another travk as well.

Michelle, sorry to hear about your car, the house we used to live in was broken into, they didn't steal anything, just made sure we knew they had been there. It is very disturbing and you never feel quite safe again.

Angie, good luck on the house hunt and on selling your house.

Hi, Jana, Christi, Carree, Marti and anyone I may have missed.

Later, Mel

Greetings to the Young and The Rest of Us,

Mel - racing is exciting! How far away is the trip for you? I went to the Indy 500 3 years in a row back in the late 70's, when I was just a pup. We camped on the infield where things always get really rowdy. No, I did not show anyone "the girls", as all the signs requested, but I did party quite a bit.

Angie - When we moved out here, I got rid of all the craft stuff I wasn't ever gonna do, but now, almost 3 years later, I've got another closet full of it. I think it multiplies in the dark!

Hi to the others...

BBL,
Jana

Hi ladies...

Im back, but in a better mood I promise.
I have to admit Ive been really paraniod the last few days tho. I keep thinking that the people that broke into the car are going to break into my house or garage now. Something else kinda strange happened yesterday. Some kid (around 16 or 17) opened up my front gate and let my puppy out and just walked away???!!! I dont understand what that was all about. If he was trying to steal her, or just being an idiot. My husband saw him at the last second and went out after him, but the kid took off. And yesterday, while I was out watering two older kids walked by and it almost looked like they were casing my house out. Paranoia?
Angie..moving isnt an option right now. But we have talked about buying some property within the next five years or so. Good luck, by the way in selling your house!

They got my husbands checkbook, and man oh man has that messed alot of things up for us. Were running around like chickens with their heads cuts off trying to fix everything. We had checks on the way for loans, and mortgage. and car payments. The loan is back in Canada, and trying to fix that from the middle of the US is turning out to be a great big pain in the a**. Grrrrrrrr!
The good thing is that we thought they got a bunch of CD's, but it turns out I had just put the CD's into a zipper case, so all they got were empty cases. Jackasses!
I think we got off lucky. The little buggers better stay away from my house!

On the brighter side of life I have my first business class tomorrow night, which I am really looking forward to. Even if I do have to miss the finale of the Amazing Race. I am thirsty for knowledge!!!! lol

Jana...Im still working on my plans for the doggie daycare. Right now Im working on my business plan. Talk about a brain twister. Hopefully these courses will answer my questions.
The wainscotting sounds nice. Ive always loved that look.

Well, sounds like everyones still doing pretty good plan wise.
The firm is working for you Carree? Glad to hear your doing so well sticking to it.

I finally made it back to the gym, after taking almost a month off. Why? Dont know...couldnt tell ya. Laziness...heat...denial???

Mel...sounds like the race was fun. Im glad you had a good time. Im sorry to hear about your house...Ive been lucky to have never had a break in, but I know I would feel quite safe again either.

Crist...good to hear from you!

Welcome Prairiechick from a fellow Canadian. Im originally from Vancouver, but am living in Cincinatti. I look forward to getting to know you. I could use a retreat day myself right now.

Marti...I hope youre not working too hard. And if you are I hope its not too hot for you. We miss ya!

Well ladies, Im going to go read my book on the deck for a while. Im reading "Shelters of Stone", the last book in the Clan of the Cave Bear series. Its been 12 years between this and the last one, and is well worth the wait.

Take care all!

Michelle
