  • GOOD AFTERNOON IN JULY MAGNOLIAS
    ☺♫

It is a beautiful day in the neighborhood in the upper 70˚s. Will is at the museum and I think he has found a home for Cecil with a lady there. I am so sad to have to give him up but we just can’t take him along.

I found the neatest bed covering in Cabelas catalogue by Donna Sharp called “Cobblestone.” After the first of the month I am going to order the Quilt, Dust Ruffle, 2 Pillow Shams, (2) 11”x22” rectangular throw pillows, (1) 15”x14” square throw pillow and 2 window valences. If I find I need a
dust ruffle I can pick up one elsewhere.

Nothing much going on hereabouts. Type at y'all later.
  • Good Afternoon! It's a nice sunny breezy day in my neighborhood; it's hot in the sun but the humidity is lower so pleasant. I had my nails filled this morning then took Bob to the farm so he could get his pickup. He is spending the day spit shining his tractors for next week. I'm taking Snickers salad tomorrow night for Zowie's pre-play supper at her other grandma's house. Beth asked for egg casserole for the lake this weekend so had to make a trip to the grocery store. One store keeps sausage in the freezer and the other in the refrigerated section. No wonder I can't find things when I'm in a hurry! I have sheets in the washer and need to put together a sheets and towel pile for the weekend. I'm not used to packing and planning for four! The MN dentist who killed the lion is sure in hot water! According to the news the hunting guide lured Cecil out of his safe haven but I wonder what the dentist was doing while that was going on. No excuse!

"Gma," our post office has cut back the hours that the window is open to buy stamps, mail packages, and send money south. Bob's office mail is later being put in their box; it's a pain for someone to drive across town to get it and then it's not all in the box yet. There is a light bulb they turn on to let box holders know when the mail is all out. We just got a notice we can access our bank account with our phone. "There could be a charge from the cell provider" as well as a $.50 bank charge for each transaction. I don't think so! I wonder how many people will use that? I was under the impression cell phones were an easy hack . . . if one would know how to do it.

Maggie, do you find a quilt heavier than a comforter? Or do you take the quilt off at night? You will have to share a picture when you get it. Bob uses his Cabelas card for gas and has so many points he'll never use them. I told him to ask if he could use them for a fishing boat. I always seem to get tangled up with a dust ruffle when I make the bed.

I need to finish putting groceries away and get the next load of laundry going. Enjoy the rest of a terrific Thursday!

My computer is in the shop having its “solid State” self transferred to a new much smaller computer that didn’t come with the solid state and all the other goodies I had on that large computer. This is one of Will’s computers I am typing this on.

Catch you tomorrow afternoon or so when I get my new computer hooked up here in my office.

    Maggie
  • Good morning to you all. I am going to have my nails and toes done today and get a few things from Walmart and I also have to go to the post office since Jack couldn't get in there the other day because of the power being out. He was going to go over there again yesterday, but it is out of the way and since I was going to be out and the better and bigger post office is on my way today I will just do it.

I have 2 pairs of jeans, white and black and a lime green and what they call hot red tunic tshirt coming today along with a very pretty purple sundress that I fell in love with and hope it fits. It is light and airy and has a big full skirt to the floor. I only wear maxi dresses because my legs look so bad.

I ordered some RFID sleeves for our credit cards and our passports so we have them when we vacation. I also ordered some luggage tags specifically for RCCL's tags that are plastic and you slide in the tags and they have a heavy duty metal circle that unscrews to put around the bag and you screw it tight. I also got 4 chair clips that you use to keep your beach towel on your chairs. I do all this kind of stuff way ahead of time so that next year I can do the more expensive heavy duty stuff like paying for the cruise!

Maggie: Good luck with the computer.

Jean: What color did you go with for your nails? I am doing a purple today. I do pretty much all my banking online as our only back is way out by the base. I have even scanned in checks here at home and deposited them though we rarely get checks. I noticed I am going to have to jump through hoops to make a payment on my RCCL card. You have to do all this weird stuff to set up a payment from your bank. The card is backed by Bank of America and of course our bank is the Navy Credit Union, which we have had for decades now.

Well girls we have to leave so I can take Jack to work. Have a great day and weekend.
  • Good Morning! The sun is shining and it's warming up, doors and windows are open but I expect the air to come on before long. I have lots to do today to get ready for tonight and heading to the lake for the weekend. I know I will forget something. Next on my list is to cut up apples for the salad and make the egg casserole.

Maggie, hope you get your computer back soon. They are great when they work properly.

"Gma," my fingernails are always pale pink, OPI Rosy Future. Do you have all of your nails the same color? We pay utilities and cable from the bank, but not a credit card. It irritates me that some will just give the store name, and not itemize the different purchases. Sometimes it is almost six weeks between when I shopped and I get the bill. I will send good vibes that all of your new clothes fit, and you won't have to send anything back.

I am off to make food! Have a wonderful day and enjoy!
  • Back
JEAN I am getting a new little computer and they are putting all the good stiff that is in the bigger one in it. It will have solid state and all those type of goodies I had. They can keep the bigger one and sell it with the running stuff they exchanged with the smaller one. I still haven't gotten my new one yet for they are working on it today.

    Type at y'all later.
  • Good morning all. We are heading out in about 2 hours or so to WM so we can pick up Jack's contacts and he needs coffee and creamer and WM has a really good selection of Keurig cup type coffees. We also have to get him some ice cream from Kroger as he is out.

My dress is really pretty and the fit is great. The jeans and tshirts fit too though I washed them and dried them so we shall see how much they shrunk. The colors are nice though.

I have a bit of a headache because I have had too little sleep. I didn't get to sleep until around midnight because my shoulder in the right arm was bothering me and they got up at 4 to go to the bathroom and couldn't go back to sleep so I imagine after we get back from WM I will be nap ready.

Jean: I like your nail polish color. I buy OPI polish from an online site call nailpolishdiva.com and they have every color OPI makes so I went there to see what the color looked like. I thought maybe I had the color as I do have a pale pink, but it is not a light as yours. Yes, I paint them all the same color. They always ask me if I want a design every time I get them done. I only get designs when I am going on vacation and usually just my big toes. They were super busy yesterday but luckily, I was the first one in so I got going pretty quickly. I had two people working on me at the same time, one doing my toes and the other one was taking off the polish on my nails. I felt like an assembly line. Right after they the onslaught came and in about 10 minutes they had all 6 pedicure chairs filled. I did feel sorry for the owner though. An elderly lady came in and told the male owner she wanted her nails polished and her toenail polish changed. The male owner did her hands then his wife did her feet and when she got done polishing them the lady said she wanted a pedicure! So, she nicely helped her into a pedicure chair and a pedicure she got. Have fun this weekend with the family goings on. I saw my dd is going to Seattle for 9 days starting today. We haven't heard from them at all so don't know what's going on. Got a text from Thomas before he went to NM but never responded back about getting together so I just dropped it.

    Everyone have a good weekend.
  • Good Afternoon! We are at the lake with Beth and four grandkids. There is a grandkid and granddog visiting next door and they are having a great time all together. If the kids are on the Maui mat, the dog is on the Maui mat too. They will all sleep good tonight! It's kind of hazy with some sunshine and some clouds, humid too. The boat wouldn't start and Bob thinks Jason left the blower (whatever that is) on after getting gas. They make you turn the blower on when they put gas in, and in our boat you can't hear it running unless you open the engine door. He has the battery charger on it so hope it works and we won't need a new battery.

"Gma," some time ago you mentioned using vinegar to set the color dye in clothes. How much do you use? Glad your new clothes fit! I did remember to bring the nail polish this weekend! I like all the names OPI comes up with. I've never had a design but have been tempted. Maybe I will get a Hawaiian flower in January. I try to be the first one in the salon door too. Last time I had to stop by the bank so I was even earlier than usual. A pickup pulled in beside me and the gal gave me a dirty look. Another car pulled in on my other side, but I could see through the window when the owner came in the back door. I had my hand on the my door and was on my way when he unlocked the front door. The first lady had two little girls with her and along with the second lady all headed for pedicures. I wonder if the shop owner, where you went, charged the lady for the extra "service." I'll bet he had some unpleasant thoughts!

I need to read my book, it is due back Monday and I refuse to renew it! Hope you all enjoy the rest of your day!
  • Just a quick reply to you Jean in case you need the info on the color setting right away. I use about 1 cup of white vinegar to a sink of cold water. If you google you can find other ways to do it, but I put the vinegar in the sink and run cold water then put in whatever I want to color set and leave it in a good hour or so. It is just me but sometimes I leave it in for a longer time, usually with something red since it bleeds so badly but no matter how long you leave it, it won't bleed into the water or fade or anything so you can pretty much leave it as long as you want. I just ruined a pair of Jack's works socks because I washed that purple dress with a couple old dark colored towels I had thrown in the washer and didn't know Jack had thrown in a pair of socks and they were under the towels. He is now a fashion forward electronics technician at the poop plant with lavender work socks!
  • Thanks for the vinegar info. But mostly, thanks for the out loud laugh at Jack's lavender work socks. Just too funny!
  • Good morning to you all. Really going to be hot today as it is supposed to be near 100 degrees. I am staying in and doing housecleaning and that's it.

We got to the commissary about 15 minutes after they opened and it was a mad house. There was one couple with two baskets with tons of stuff and they were a bit older like 40+ and I wondered if they were buying for someone else and that can get them banned. They just had too much. They had one cart totally full of meat, the whole cart and they had tons of tp and paper towels and all kinds of stuff like that. They were rude too. They stuck their baskets in the aisle blocking them and would walk away to get stuff. One guy got really mad at them. On the positive side, maybe my angry email did some good as there were 5 cashiers open yesterday. Wonder how long it will last though. You can be sure I will start griping again if it happens again. We got through and on our way in an hour.

I guess the whole family went to Seattle, not just Kelly. They won't be back until right before he starts school and they took his best friend with them. I haven't heard from Jay but imagine they are ok.

When I see the doctor I am going to have to make an appointment to see the gynecologist again. I am having some bad problems again and have been for the last week. I don't know what he will do, but we have to try and do something as it impacts my life in more ways than just pain. I have no warning and suddenly I have a whole episode and it is bad. I can't leave the house when this is going on either.

Hope everyone has a good start to their week!!
  • Monday, Monday
It has been a challenge to get my new little computer all fixed up but they are back working on it today. I’ll be so glad when they are all finished with it. I just had them come into this computer and tweek something better. I love it that they can remotely come in and take over the computer. They should probably have mine all finished with today. I told Will I had something remotely done to this computer and he just laughed and said if it made it “better” that is fine with him. If we keep the program we have with them they can remotely come in and upgrade or fix a problem when we are in Texas or elsewhere. Things like what they are doing to my new little computer have to be done in the shop so things like this we could ship the computer to them. I love how they can take the working stuff out of one computer and put into a smaller one. If he was left alone he could have had it finished with now but being that he has to deal with the walk-ins also it takes away from his work. There are other folks that work there but sometimes they are gone elsewhere. I understand all this but “I want my computer.”

DONNA FAYE Can’t you just get what is going on with your system“fixed.” I thought you had that all taken care of awhile back. Or is it that the doc can’t do anything about it.

  • Good Afternoon! Bob is at a meeting so the "boys" and I are home alone. After a whirlwind weekend with the grandkids, counting money this morning, and a P.E.O. meeting this afternoon, I am tired. Wish I had the energy of a 12, 11, and two 10 year olds! I headed for bed early last night and told them the last one to bed to shut the TV and lights off. We have renamed Zowie "Aunt Lillian." Aunt Lillian was a wonderful lady but was always the last to finish eating, getting dressed, be ready to leave when everyone else is, etc. Zo sat eating breakfast and watching the birds squirrels, bunny, and duck who came to eat on the deck. She'd quit chewing and just gaze at them. Finally Bob told her she could bring her toast with her and on the way to the car she announces she has to go to the bathroom! Bob's Aunt Lillian would come back and stay for a month each summer at the cabin with Bob's parents. One Sunday Bob's dad told her what time they were leaving for church and if she wasn't in the car he was going to leave her . . . and he did.

"Gma," it was 53 degrees when I came downstairs this morning. The crazy weather continues! The kids wanted to sleep on air mattresses in the livingroom. I didn't realize how many squeaky spots there are in the floor! Has Jay been there and gone back home? It would be nice if Kelly would let you know they would be gone "just in case." I would think with your past history, the doctor could/would move on to the next plan of action.

Maggie, hope your computer is ready soon!

I am doing laundry, mostly bedding and towels so need to change loads. Enjoy a nice evening!

  • GOOD AFTERNOON IN AUGUST MAGNOLIAS
    ☺♫

Just peeking in with my new computer. It is real neat ~ all what I had on my bigger one but now in a very much smaller one. I’ll be back tomorrow to yak at ya all.

  • Good morning to you all. Had a rough night with female stuff so I am kind of pooped but I want to get the rest of the downstairs cleaned today so don't know what I will and won't get done.

I just finished balancing the checkbook and such and will get breakfast in a bit. I think I will do chocolate and strawberry today for my protein drink. I think I like it the best as it tastes like chocolate covered strawberry smoothie. The powder is rocky road and then I put my cashew milk in it and frozen strawberries with just a little Stevia.

I should be getting some jewelry I ordered for dresses for the cruise and some other stuff like towel clips that go on beach chairs to hold your towels in place and some better luggage tags for the cruise tags and such. I bought this lovely sterling silver necklace for my best friend for her birthday next year from Penneys. They were having a sale and it is this twisted heart and it says, "Friends fill your life with joy, your soul with sunshine." I had a rewards coupon for $10 and besides the reduced price they had a 20% off sale so I made out pretty darn good. I love a bargain.

Jean: That would probably drive me nuts to have a "dawdler" and they say. I would imagine the kids probably did wear you out. It is always fun though as they are at least generally in the same age range. It is tough with an 8 year old and a 15 year old to try and do things they both like. Thomas is great about it though. It is supposed to be 99 before heat index today. At least Jack is working on some computer project for his boss so is in the ac on these hot days.

Maggie: Glad you enjoy your computer. Unless he says different the next time I go in there isn't anything they can do because up until now the problems aren't bad enough my insurance would pay for surgery to remove it. Seems like I make an appointment and go in for the test and things have settled down and any biopsy or whatever is clear so they can't operate on me.

    Everyone have a good day
