Oh, I meant to say, I sold two too-big clothing items on eBay and made almost $40 on them! I never expected to get quite that much. I donated most of my stuff to Goodwill but wanting to give selling a shot on the more expenses pieces that are in good condition. I am thrilled! I'm going through my closet tonight to sell a few more things and I decided eBay money will go directly into a new clothing fund. The $40 I already made is going towards a new bathing suit for my beach trip in a couple weeks (I don't have any that don't fall down in the ocean lol). I am currently in the smallest clothing that I own, so I'm really gonna need the extra money to finance my new wardrobe when I get to the next sizes...weight loss is expensive!
|
That is exciting nonameslob! I gave a ton of my "good" clothes to my friend. I prolly should have sold them. Weight-loss is expensive. What I did all last year, I hoarded all sales in size 6 and I have a pretty nice wardrobe this summer. I am hoping that some of the items can be altered too once I get to be size 4.
|
That's a good idea, Sum. I've been pretty successful at Goodwill so far. They sell quite a few brand new items from Target (I guess they have a deal with our local store?). But I should probably slowly start collecting the next size down when I see a sale.
It's odd. I have SO many clothes right now, I'm not used to it! I was at this size for a long, long time before gaining weight over the last few years. Getting back into it has been nice, but I'm ready to move past it. |
I am not quitting. I am just really, really upset. Quitting won't solve anything, it'll just mean I'll gain which is even worse than being stuck. I just don't think I have ever felt so BAD about dieting. I've never been stuck so long before.
Typically on a fast day I have a fruit and veg smoothie, a greek yogurt around lunch time IF I get that achy/pukey hungry feeling, and then some sort of lean meat like turkey, chicken or fish/salmon patties with a large pile of green beans, broccoli or squash etc. Fast days usually amount to 600-800 calories and I am better at being closer to 600 than 800 now. Non-fasting days are typically like this: B: 4 scrambled eggs, 2 are whole, and 2 are just the whites. One piece of dry toast. (No HFCS in the bread. This is the only bread I eat most times, my one piece of breakfast toast.) Sometimes a tsp of ketchup on the eggs. L: Tuna with 1 tblsp light miracle whip with cucumber slices. I sometimes add a greek yogurt if I am still hungry. D: 2 salmon patties with a big plate of veggies OR turkey with a big plate of veggies OR chicken with veggies OR baked fish with veggies OR a 1.5 cup bowl of chili etc. If I am still hungry after dinner or want dessert I will have a cup or 1.5 cups of watermelon. Where am I going wrong? |
MauiKai I like your attitude and I'm glad you're not giving up on this diet already. I really don't know what to say as your diet plan sounds great. And I don't think you've been doing it long enough/consistently enough for me to recommend any changes. See what happens after two more fasts this week perhaps.
I assume you already carefully calculated how many calories are in your smoothies? And portion out your lean meats for dinner? |
MauiKai You plan looks great. No idea why you are not losing. Like Noname asked, how carefully do you measure?
Give some time, perhaps this is some sort of a plateau...plus did you know, when fat cells empty they temporarily fill with water and water weighs more than fat. |
I don't measure veggies at all. I just eat them. The chili/soup I measure in a measuring cup. As for fish, chicken, turkey I only eye it to be palm size-ish.
|
Might be worth measuring the fruits and veggies in your smoothie. Mine can be upwards of 400-500 calories (I do add greek yogurt, though). Measuring everything, just once, and calculating the calories will either confirm that you are doing just fine or make you re-think your strategy. I'd say it's worth the extra effort to measure just once!
Same with meat. It can be a good reminder to put it on the scale and measure the actual calories now and then. |
Sum nope no whoosh actually back up to 158 but still down a pound for the challenge with my son. He is down .4 :D You are pushing the pounds away quickly. I am very happy for you. I think my taco salad just did me in. I swear I still feel full :dizzy: I didn't realize how heavy it was :(
noname I love selling things on ebay and buying things also ;) Sounds like you may have needed to rest this weekend, sometimes that's good  I'm sure your fast day will wash away the bloat :crossed: I agree the calories and the carbs add up in fruit quickly. :( MauiKai, what I have done in the past with plateaus is calorie cycle, which is actually like what we do now. Maybe your calories are too low, idk. I sometimes have day after day after day where my calories fall short and all it takes sometimes is for me to have one ridiculous day, then a low day and the whoosh comes. Just a thought. I hope you have a great whoosh soon. :crossed: |
Thanks Rennie

Fast Day is going fabulous!
I just had my 500 calorie dinner and I am satisfied. I was hungry though, but even though I wanted to eat everything I could get my hands on, I was patient and made my huge salad with chicken. Now I have a happy tummy :) Since I volunteered all afternoon, I did not have time to walk my pup, yet. I will walk her during the witching hour/s; 7-9pm. That is when the fridge calls my name. I really upped my water intake about a month ago, it sucks on my volunteer days...lol... I have to leave my post every hour to go to potty and even at that point I am really ready to go :D They must think I have the weakest bladder around. Volunteering is going well, I feel more confident each day that goes by. I also learn something new each time. |
I think I've been over-eating a little bit on my fasting days lately. I can't tell if I am hungrier than usual when I am fasting, or if I am just unwilling to tell my stomach to shut up! I probably had 600-700 calories yesterday. We will see how the rest of the week goes before I consider going back to dutifully measuring every morsel that goes into my mouth on a fast day...However, I am still managing about a gallon of water a day!
I've also just been SO lazy lately :/ I've only been going to the gym two times a week because that is my new plan, but usually inbetween visits to the gym I'm doing things outdoors like riding my bike. Instead I'm sitting on my butt. Hopefully it is just my body adjusting to this diet. It's only been a week that I've been back on it so nothing to get worried about yet! Tonight I have to get to the gym for strength training. I'm home by myself tonight so dinner can be more veggies than if the bf was home lol I have some leftover curry and rice (all of the chicken from the curry is gone, though!) lol or veggie burgers...maybe a salad. Who knows! But it will be lots of veggies for dinner. I think I will do shrimp and pesto tomorrow and a chicken salad on Thursday (fast day). Then I'm away for the weekend! Sum, sounds like you had a good fast :D How did you manage in the evening? Did the walk help? So glad you're enjoying your volunteer position :D Rennie, what is your plan for the week? MauiKai, how is your week going so far? Any change yet? |
168.6 today. 169.8 yesterday after forcing the scale to recalibrate. Deeply suspicious of my scale now. May have to force a calibration daily. Stupid scale is practically brand spankin' new and had really good reviews too. Maybe I'm just not used to fancy high tech-ish scales yet.
I thought I would see a rise today because of dinner last night. Breakfast was a normal egg/toast, lunch was tuna and cucumbers, dinner was turkey tenderloins with a tblsp of bbq sauce, BUT I made acorn squash with it. That's not bad except my hubby only eats it one way and that is baked with butter and brown sugar. So I baked each half with a tblsp of butter in it (real butter) and a small tsp of brown sugar. Hubby of course had to add plenty more sugar to his after the fact though. I only ate 3/4 cup of it, though I could have eaten a lot more as I love squash. I can clean up half a squash like nobody's business. Probably a whole one if I really let myself. After dinner I had watermelon too. |
MauiKai I love squash too. We are growing some at home. -- Don't be afraid to eat fat; it keeps you full longer.
nonameslob It can be a slippery slope. Good that you are being diligent and watching your fast days carefully. Rennie Yep, taco salad would do it. All the sodium! -- Need to get you OP girlie. I will pull out my :frypan: :D |
Rennie, I make taco salad too but I make it with ground turkey and Ortega reduced sodium taco seasoning. It's awesome. (You gotta use Ortega, the ingredients are better than other commercial brands IMO) Also I have found that I can easily have 2 actual tacos (if I don't feel like taco salad) if I use corn tortillas (they are like 6 or 8 inches in size?) 1 tblsp of fat free YUMMY refried beans, 2 tblsp of tomato salsa, loaded up with lettuce, and 1 tsp of sour cream for each taco.
