Hi everyone!
Since I work full time and have two young kids at home my only time to work out is at lunch. There is a club near my work where I do a 45 minute spinning class. (2 to 4 times per week). The sad news is that my workout partner's last day of work was on Friday. She is moving to Raleigh, NC with her dh so she can become a full time novelist (she has completed one book and is looking for a publisher). I'm really happy for her but am bummed for me! So far I have been motivated to work out without her but I know it is going to be tough to stay motivated once we get back from Hawaii. So my question to all of you is how do you keep up the regular exercise? Does it just feel automatic for you? What do you do and how often? And yes...I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT MAUI! 9 more days!!!! Thanks for asking! :D |
Jeanne-I feel like if I don't get out and run, I am missing something. It's become a habit with me.
Sherry and Debbie-You girls should be toothpicks the way you run around so much!! Gayle- I'm really not up on the star's hairstyles, but I say go for it!! I am also thinking about streaking the gray in my hair instead of coloring it this time. I say any kind of change helps us to feel better about ourselves! Ramona-What happened at the Dr's??? I hope your son's foot is better today! Thanks to everyone that PM'ed me!! I feel much better now at work, and hopefully this time off will help me sort things out. I do know one thing, I definitely do NOT want to be the confidential secretary now (not that she would give me the job anyway!) Off to my LAST day!! |
Gayle, if you go to ivillage.com, they have a hairstyle finder where you put in your face shape, color, and length and then you see the styles that are best for you. I'm like you, I'm ready for a change! I agree with everyone else, go for it!
Believe it or not, we couldn't get in to see a Dr. last night. My brother is a physical therapist and has had lots of patients with spider bites so I took Dan to see him. He said it is not a spider bite but looks like some type of staph infection. Dan had inspection this morning and then he is getting a pass to go to the DR. gotta sell some boots....later all |
Gosh Ramona, been having a blast all day!!! I uploaded a pic of me and have been trying hairstyles and color!!!! I found a really cute shade called sundrenched, it is a dark blonde, light ash brown hue....hmmmm...I'm dark brown now....
The hair cut I came up with is about chin length, razor cut with choppy layers... THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE SITE INFO!!!!! This is to much fun!!! I'm ready for a change!!!!! Now, if I could magically drop 30 pounds!!!! |

Gayle the hair cut sounds like a syle that would suit you. Go for the change. You will love it. Ramona I am glad that your son is better. Doni my mom too had blood clots and it is scarey. Glad that she is taking care of it. Shelley are things doing better now that school is over? I didn't have a fever yesterday. Really tired and short of breath, but I think I am on the road to recovery. went for my TB test thursday but they wouldn't do it til monday. It is a test that you have to come back in 48 hours and that would have been the weekend so they just tested my blood. I will be back next week. Hope that you all have a great weekend. It is suppose to be hot here so I will be parking it by the pool. |
Thank you all for the birthday wishes. :) I was going to step on the scale to see how many lbs. I missed my birthday goal by, but why ruin a good day?

I just got back from putting my baby on the plane to NJ. My other daughter and I went shopping, and not 30 minutes after we got home, she called and said she was there!! I didn't even realize that it had been 2 hrs. Anyway, I am still a bit nervous about her being away, but I'm sure she will have fun. Thanks everyone for thinking that she should go! Believe it or not, she also had her first date yesterday (just the afternoon movies.) The kids grow up so quick!! Speaking of growing up,

My MIL was over last night, and I pretended to be sleeping at 8:00!! Needless to say, I did fall asleep and when I woke up at 10, she was still here. She left a little after 10, and I didn't even have to see her (I just had to hear her squeaky voice.)LOL
|
Evening girls:wave:
Hope everyone is having a great Sunday afternoon. I got to spend the day with the 4 favorite men in my life. My Dad, hubby, son and SIL, I think they all had a wonderful Father's Day. I planned a small picnic at the lake for James and my Dad. There ended up being around 30 people at the picnic...lol. We cooked hot dogs on the grill and had watermelon for dessert. The guys fished and the women sat in the shade and talked about the guys...LOL. Tell me how my house can be a wreck when I've been gone all weekend!! I am staying home next week until some of this stuff is straightened up. Love to all my Floozie friends!! Thinking of you guys!! Hugs...deb |
Hey, if any of you IM, please PM me your names, so I can add you to my buddy list. I don't usually IM, but since my daughter is in NJ, I started doing it. It's so much cheaper than calling.
|
Late happy birthday, Jenelle!!
Hope everyone is doing great and staying OP. Just got back from Branson, where I ate out EVERY day!! Luckily, my weigh-in isn't till Thursday this week! In process of having asthma attack. Miserable. Know it's weight- related. There's a magic # that if I get over the breathing just "goes." Later all, Cheryl |
Cheryl, I hope your feeling better!!!!! I feel for ya!!! We all have asthma and allergies here, in fact the 4 year old was just diagnosed about one month ago. Do you use an inhaler?
I hope everyone had a great weekend! I will be back later! |
Gayle,
I've been taking 1 Primatene tablet when the attacks start. I can't take them at night, though, 'cause they wire me up BIG time!! I had never had asthma problems until last year (when I gained back all my original WW weight, PLUS some), and I'm hoping that If I stick to my diet and lose the weight again the asthma will go away with it! |
Cheryl, don't know if it will work for you, but some people find relief in sticking their head inside of a freezer for a few minutes. We keep prescription nose spray and inhalers around here all of the time. Oh, the joys!
|
I'll bet the freezer would work for me, because I've noticed that when I'm having one, if I turn the AC down to about 68-70, it relieves the symptoms quite a bit. I just tried my 1st nose spray last Thurs. nite. I was on vacation and it was all I had (I've always bee afraid to try one, b/c I hear they're really addictive). It was GREAT!! My nose was slightly sore on Friday, but I stayed completely clear until Sunday morning!!
(Sorry to all the Floozies for the non-weight-loss-related posts!!) |
Speaking of non weight related things, my DH just came home with 6 more chickens!! Now we have 1 rooster and 6 chickens. We he left home, he was headed for food only. So now in my bird room I have 7 baby chicks, 1 cockatoo, 1 cockatiel, 1 hawkheaded parrot, and 1 blue front amazon parrot. My birds think we have gone out of our minds!! We will be building a chicken coop sometime this summer.
Carol-Any chicken tips will be greatly appreciated! I can't remember who else has them, but if you do, let me know! |
Shelley: We use to have chickens out on the farm. They are soooo cute when their little!!! I would just get attached...then it would be butchering day. I bet you are having fun keeping the little guys clean!
Cheryl: My 4 year old has to take the nose spray once a day. I tried slacking off about one week ago...the next day she was right back with the same old stuff. So, we are back to the one shot a day. I bet exercising is hard for you. HELP!!!!!! WHAAAAAAAA!!!! NOT STAYING OP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm back on tomorrow though. I will never lose at this rate. One day on, four days off!!! SEND me some WILLPOWER and MOTIVATION!!!!!!!! |
Gayle-I'm sending you some willpower, since mine has left me, it must be coming your way!! My chickens are for eggs, not for butchering!!
|
Shelley: I still have problems eating chicken to this day because of awful childhood memories of butchering day!!! I refuse to be involved in any of that stuff. In my opinion, one of the worse smells in the world is the smell of wet, hot bird feathers when we had to dip the chickens in scalding water so we could pluck them. Steve wants to go fishing...I said fine...you do all of the cleaning of the fish etc! Did I gross you out today???? SORRY!!!
Question: At what age did you start running? Also, you posted it before but I can't remember. You mentioned that you would walk then run only like 30 seconds at a time? Can you post this info again? THANKS!!! Where's the rest of the crew????? |
Mornin'
I'm here Gayle! I didn't post yesterday because I've been dealing with a bad head & stomach ache.Virus I guess. But I seem to be feeling better today.I layed around most of yesterday. I've got to get some things done today.I really want to DEEP clean the bathroom today. If anyone didn't see the "Challenge Thread", my weight stayed the same at 171 this week.No loss.....No gain. I'm stuck at the 20 lb. loss mark. Hope everyone is doing ok.....I'll come back in a few and start a new thread. Have a great OP day ya'll........... |
Sherry-Tried to catch you last night on IM, but your away message was on! Hope you are feeling better. Not good to be sick on vacation!
Gayle-GROSS!!!:o I have been running for approx. 4 or 5 years, so I guess I was around 44 or 45 when I started. I started out walking 5 min, then running 30 sec--doing this for about 20 min. Gradually, just start walking less and running more. Increase the running weekly. Don't do it too quick, or it will burn you out. Go over to www.runnersworld.com, and they have the program over there. I think you might have to click somewhere on newrunner. Also a great webpage is www.coolrunning.com. I log all my runs on both boards. I've gone 598 miles this year!! Not bad for an old hag!:D I am going to try and clean something today, even if it's just the dog! |
I didn't realize that ashma could be affected by weight. Dez and I both have ashma. I had a bad ashma attack in Jamaica because of the spraying of the mosquitos. We don't have the nasal spray that you girls are talking about. I am only using ventolin. It sometimes affect my heart rate though.
Sherry poor you, you are STUCK at losing 20 pounds!!!!! That is a huge achievement don't be little it. You have done well. You are just at a plateau. Sometimes boosting up the exercise at the plateau helps or changing some of your foood choices. I am just trying out this 3 day diet a friend gave me. It isn't one you should stick on but helps with those plateaus. I will post it later. Hope that you are feeling better. Shelley how much land do you have if you have chickens? Are you right in the city? My mom and dad have raised chickens since forever. Mom has 2 more radiation treatments. She will be done tomorrow. She has done pretty good with it. Just on friday she started getting the blisters. They are small and not to painful. She has a bit of burning that will increase these last few treatments but she will be ok. After this she is all done! Yipee!!! She is still having problems with regulating her blood but is suppose to be referred to a specialist soon. I haven't gone for my TB test yet because I haven't been feeling well enough. Today I will try to go. Hope that you all have an on program day! DEE |
