Good morning ladies,
I imagine it will be quiet around here as most of you are out enjoying the first holiday of the summer's weekend. Happy Memorial Day and thank you to all the service men and women near and far who have served our country and protected our freedoms. http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/military.gif (thank you Mel for an appropriate smiley!) Yesterday I brought my plants out into the sunshine, watered them, trimmed them and put the sugar snap peas into the garden. One more night for the rest of them in the mancave and then it's a planting marathon tomorrow. I was sitting very close to the bird feeders and enjoyed a rather colorful show as I was working. One could easily sit nearby and take some great photos. The hummingbird boys - I think there are 3 now if not 4 - are VERY aggressive this year. Chasing each other clear across the yard, almost to the next town. Mel - poor thing, burning roasts and kids with an attitude. :( And no beach / shore for them to take off to - or have they pretty much cleaned up the area by now after Sandy's wrath? I suppose it's good that you don't have balconies in your building - if the seniors can't mind the roast, imagine what they'd do with BBQ grills. Perhaps you can start a business - drop your roast off by 9am, Mel will cook it up and have it ready for you by dinner  Jen can help and if it comes out especially good, take a "cut" for yourselves  Oh well, they'd probably complain about the seasonings or something... Ceejay - did you go back and get your planting soil? So easy to forget that when you're focused on the plants - or as is the case with us, not enough room for both dirt and plants - even with the 4Runner. And you could always get a half height filing cabinet - there will ALWAYS be papers to file - especially as we get older it seems. Michelle - thank you for the Walgreens prescription program suggestion. I looked into it and now I at least see that I am getting some value for my premium money although the Caremark website is sometimes hard to negotiate. What I paid $70 for, Walgreens would charge me over $900 for a 90 day supply. :faint: I told my doctor's office that I needed a specific med for the blood sugar as the metformin was too harsh for me and they pursued it and were able to get it approved. And thusfar it looks like it will only cost a forearm which is better than an arm and a leg  I guess you must be getting generic meds - hence your cost savings. For me one does not come in a generic form, and for my thyroid I insist on name brand as I have had issues with the generic version in the past. But it was worth looking at so thanks for the suggestion! Glad you are happy and settling into things now, especially at work. That's great that they found another renter and you are off the hook for the rent. Did your roommate find someone else to stay with? Annie - sounds like you are having a good time watching Lil Man. Have a good weekend and don't work too hard unless it's garden stuff that you enjoy. Laura - hope you got your flowers and veggie plants. Have fun with your friends tonight and join us tomorrow in a garden planting marathon  Shad - between the yoga, pilates and run/walking - sounds like you are getting a good workout. Before you know it your Assets will be tightening too ;) Ok, almost time for lunch here. Not sure if I should do the light housework first and then head to the garden or reverse them. Usually when I come in from outside I'm done for the day. But if I wait too long then I don't want to water things before the cool sets in. Oh such problems, eh? Enjoy your weekend chicks. |
Morning all,
Get this done while the coffee is hot and tasty then I need to get moving again. Got lots to do today. I'm finishing off in the bedrooms. Then it is outside and in the garden. Gotta prune the tomatoes. They are just about finished, but not quite. I've still got a lot of eating to do. Winter is upon us and unless it clears up a bit, there won't be much in the way of ripening. Annie - so great that you have had a wonderful time with the little one. They are precious. I'm looking forward to having S come to us for her birthday. The gadget thingy may not be available for adults, it probably works on the same principle of the CPAP that your dad already has. Seems that he is going to need constant supervision and you can't provide that while you work. Mel - what is this? Sending the oldies to me to train on getting books from the library? I can hardly find the library these days much less train them on how to use it. So the kids are arriving shortly. Surprises me that they still want to come and spend time in the woods with Richie. I would have thought that they were too old now. on the burnt roast. Maybe we should send them all out to the commune - oh maybe not, Happy's place is in drought. Much more sobering is the fact that the alarms did not go off. That is unforgiveable. Laura - I echo the pleasure I get in saying that I am not exercising this morning. In fact I managed to sleep in. Miss Puss was not impressed. I haven't been to the gym in an age - not since I left Darwin. I hear you about making a fool of yourself in classes. I always seemed to be one step behind everyone else and can't catch up. Happy - back up that computer and rebuild it. You may lose everything anyway if the thing decides to bust the phoo phoo valve. Happy planting today and tomorrow. Next week is my time for the garden. That is after I go for another eye test to have my glasses replaced and also gotten the stitches in my mouth out. Then I am done with the medical stuff until the new tooth goes in. My assets are tightening up thank you very much. Especially my wallet assets! Time for budget constraint especially as I want to get a new car next month. An hour in the garden and an hour in the house, repeat as required. That way you get a lot of everything done during the day. Michelle - good to hear that you are feeling happy again. Sometimes it takes a huge leap of faith to get back to where you want to be. Good on you for that. Hope the friendship thing works for you. It is so nice to have someone who you can just call up and go somewhere with not too many expectations - just good friendship. Ceejay - I bought a filing cabinet a while back which looks somewhat like a piece of furniture. I should have gotten something smaller as I just use it to store a lot of stuff I really don't need anymore. Go for the mobile things on wheels or the concertina file. I got the medication on Friday. You only use a very small amount which is probably good since the stuff is not available on PBS and costs around $33 for this small tube. It is used at night time. Thin smear over the infected area and seems to work quite well. I no longer wake myself up scratching. Well I haven't over the past two nights anyway. So hopefully it will stop the itch during the daytime sometime soon. The daytime is much more embarrassing that night time. Anyway....... Laura was right, there is an increased risk in cancer in the area but it is rare. My doc said that only one or two people in a hundred get Lichen and of those one or two about 1 to 5% of them get cancer. My chances are good. Okay time to get off here. Change the bed linen, sweep the floors and clean out the wardrobe. Time to change over from summer to winter (moves 3 jackets and 2 pairs of pants from one place to another). Then some laundry, dusting and sorting in the spare room. I might even get to clear out some of that goddam big filing cabinet. |
Whew, I got a lot done today outside. I thoroughly enjoyed being outside. Trimmed the bushes, planted the flowers in pots, and washed my dirty vehicle. I'm tired but a good tired. When I was putting things back into the shed there was a snake's skin about 2 foot long. Didn't remember seeing it before. Gives me the creeps to think that a snake may be in the shed.
-------------- Happy Yes, had to go back to Walmart to get another rx this morning. It was in my purse yesterday but it was over looked and while there I asked some one in the lawn and garden department if they had potting soil. And they did. Got more than enough. My flowers are now planted. Shad It's almost winter there!!!!!! We may be begging for some of your cooler air. I'm going to have to look up lichen. I've seen those filing cabinets that look like a piece of furniture. Mel Did you burn the roast or did one of the tenants. I haven't gone back to read.. I can say one thing your job is never a dull one. Laura and Annie  |

But I only have 2.5 years left till retirement and I'm so ready for that. |
Good morning chickies,
Had a productive day yesterday. It was on the cool side and overcast - I didn't even pull my plants out of the man cave. But it was perfect weather for DH who is busy building a pine needle path out in the back of the property. We have lots and lots of pine needles he is raking up and they have to be put somewhere so they can be nicely recycled by laying a path in the woods. It also is good for avoiding the ticks as they don't like pine needles and there's nothing for them to sit on and wait for a passing victim. He is pleased with his progress. We have our share of bugs here too - ant mounds all over the place outside making DH crazy. Ticks are our biggest problem - they are already warning of lyme disease and to be careful and do a tick check. DH better get that lawn mower working pronto as the grass is getting pretty high and I have to make several trips across it to get to the garden. :s: I had a good day myself. Tidied up indoors and got the laundry taken care of. Started a box of donations to the thrift shop. Now if DH would only pick up after himself and keep things tidy. He has a tendency to drop stuff where ever it lands and it makes me nuts. Today I will spend most of my day outdoors. The time for planting has come. Last night it got down to 36 degrees but that's as close as it looks to freezing for now. Long range forecast - which if you can't get the next day or two right, how can you trust 30 days out??? - indicates pleasant days in the 70's and nights in the 40 - 50 temps. Good daytime weather, good sleeping weather. Also looks like tomorrow and for the next 5 days or so, the rain all you are getting now will be cropping over to us which will be good for the plants. More incentive to get the garden set today. Yesterday we decided to go out for pizza. As we pulled up in the parking lot DH thought that we might be next to my cousin's car. Walked in and sure enough, there were both sets of my cousins. Actually 3 sets since one of them had gone into the city to go pick up her sister and bro in law. Hey - thanks for asking us to join in  There was some awkwardness and a few very transparent excuses made and of course we all pretended to ignore the big white elephant in the room. I did have a nice time talking with my older cousin from the city - we have not seen her in a good many years. All in all we did have a nice evening out and then had to rush back home at last light (which is close to 10pm up here) to get the feeders in for the night. Have not seen Mr. Bear in over a week but by now we know he travels a circuit and you never know when he'll be back in town again. So we stopped ground feeding and take the bird stuff in overnight. Ceejay - 2 and a half years is not a long time - it will fly by quickly - not exactly zoom by but you are definitely rounding the bend and time to start doing some planning for when the time comes. 5 months of this year have already zipped past. We had a garden snake in our boat shed last year - he kept peeking around a garden pot. We named him Snake Plisken from Kurt Russell's character in the movie Escape from New York. Not sure he stayed too long - DH was not fond of a snake popping up unexpectedly - you do have to be mindful of things out this way. Glad you got all your planting done. Mel - loved the hummingbird graphic. We have a bunch of super aggressive males this year. DH said he was watching one boy who flew in and just whacked a girl right off the feeder. Maybe I have to put some plant estrogen in the water to calm them down - too much macho testosterone  I know what you mean about waiting for the heat to get here and then complaining about it being too warm  I imagine it gets pretty steamy with the concrete but at least you have the river to provide some humidity and a bit of coolness at times. Yum on the popcorn and NCIS marathon - if you can't solve life's problems, then perhaps you can take on life's mysteries  Shad don't you DARE think you're sending Mel's blue hairs over to the commune. :nono: I will build an iron gate at the end of the street faster than lickety split and that's pretty fast ;) I have enough with my Mom thank you very much. The commune would quickly become a very loud place with all the frustrated yelling that would be going on. Funny how we wait so long for the tomatoes to come in and then the end of the season / change of weather comes up quickly and we have all this leftover bumper crop to deal with. I am excited that I may have found a yellow cherry tomato plant like my sister planted last year. It gave the best tomatoes I have ever tasted. And the arugula is particularly tasty this year - even I'm getting used to that peppery bite. Do you have enough of a garden plot to do corn? They had some nice sized plants at the garden center but I didn't want to devote 1/3 of a precious garden bed to them, particularly when so far the corn in the stores has been delicious and will be priced at about 25 cents an ear or less when on sale. That has become a growing criteria for me - if I can grow it better at home, it goes in. If it tastes the same as in the store and is relatively inexpensive - I'll buy it. And if it's a pain in the neck to grow and needs alot of TLC like celery - for sure it doesn't merit a spot in the garden. Well I should get some food in me and get outside before it gets too late to get the garden in and watered for the night. Have a good day everyone and hello to the rest of the chicks. |
Happy Sunday/Monday all. Short and sweet hello. Hope you're all having a good weekend. Just been invited to a cookout at a friend's. Last minute invite, not thrilled, but we have to eat anyway, lol, so we'll probably go.
I'll be back tonight or tomorrow to catch up on your posts. TTFN! |
happy Sunday/Monday ladies!
Santa and I have had a fantastic weekend so far. Yesterday, we went for a dog walk on the beach with another woman and her dog. After that, I drove a bit further south and visited two friends that I haven't seen since I was here at Christmas. Despite having 3 cats, they were very kind about inviting Santa (who was on leash) into their home. Santa was very well behaved and only tried to chase the kitties a couple times. Today, Santa and I met up with a group of women who have Westies (West Highland White Terriers). It's a group organized on Meetup.com, and I asked them if they'd mind having a Schnauzer tag along. They were very welcoming. We walked around the gorgeous Stanford University campus. 4 women and 7 dogs. It was quite a sight and many people stopped to take photos of the adorable dogs. Now we're relaxing in my step-mom's beautiful backyard, and later we're going to BBQ burgers on the grill. I'm sorry I don't have time for personals right now. I hope you all are doing well and enjoying the day/weekend. Much love, |
Morning all,
Not a lot happening here. I was supposed to go for an eye appointment to check out my glasses, however when I got there I was half an hour late. I swear it was a 9.30 appointment, but............... guess it wasn't. So that is put back to next week now. I went around to help the DS2 and G/F with his latest project yesterday and managed to get a blister on my heel. So no running today. Hurts to put shoes on. I did a 40 min Tai Chi and pilates and yoga routine instead. Shortly I will need a coffee so a break will be in order. Might make some scones for DS2 for his afternoon tea since he is busy plumbing and putting beds together and cleaning up etc. It's his rostered day off from his job. Ceejay - nothing like working outside on a good fine day. Makes one tired and ready for bed in the evening. All that fresh air I guess. Mel - that is a pretty frenetic hummingbird you have there this morning. Wears me out just watching it. Glad to hear that you have had a quiet day in the building. Although you might have been warmer if you had been busy running the corridors. Tell the blue hair brigade that I'm available. $60per hour, and they will be running the country by the time I am finished. Let's face it, can't be that much worse can it - of course it can, the GenY could be running the country. Then it would be a case of what's in it for me. Happy - Ant hills everywhere? Put petrol over the mound, let it sink in a bit and set fire to it. Might burn for a short while, but the ants will be gone. Alternatively, boiling water does the trick as well. Just ensure you start on the ones nearest the house otherwise you might be housing a few million more guests. Can you spray for ticks? Yeah there is corn in the garden. I had a good crop last year. So tasty and sweet. Mind you the neighbours and friends got most of them although I did snaffle a few and smuggle them into NT when I went back and forth. Hiya Laura - hope you enjoyed the cook out. Michelle - Sounds like you are having a great time with the dog, doing the walking and joining in with things. You'll be all settled in no time. So I am about to take my coffee and wander out into the sunshine for half an hour or so. It looks so nice out there today. Then I will finish the bedrooms and get stuck into the garden. House is clean - apart from the windows and plans have been sorted for some redecoration in a couple of rooms. Time to get on with it. |
Well the vegetable garden is in for the season :faint: :faint: :faint: I do have a couple of vegetables going into pots - the yellow summer squash and the baby carrots and I just ran out of time for that so it will be done later today. I also have the herbs and flowers to be planted in pots. Even if it rains today, I can work in the greenhouse on those.
It was a very tiring day. DH had to get the lawnmower blades sharpened and the mower ready for the season. He got about half the lawn done today. The grass in the garden as well as the whole lawn is quite high. One deer tick was trying to make a beeline for me but I squashed him before he could make contact. That set me to having the skeeves about ticks so later on when I went to the loo as I took my jeans down one was on my upper thigh but had not attached itself yet. I whisked it off so fast it landed in my pants. I'm surprised the britches didn't start on fire considering the speed with which I ripped them off. Shook them all over and could not find that darned tick. Refused to put those pants back on and got another pair. I HATE TICKS. They left me alone after that but I was pestered by biting flies and a few mossies that left a good welt or two. And I just bought a can of bug spray - doesn't work sitting on the shelf inside missy. It should be a nice garden - I'm hoping everything takes well and the weather cooperates. You have me interesting in sweet corn Shad - not this year, perhaps next. Do they need deep roots as my beds are not that deep. Thanks for the advise on the ants - I do know boiling water works - that's what we will have to do that is IF I can get in front of DH with his scary toxic sprayer junk. He is just a fanatic when it comes to dandelions (coming into bloom now) and ant hills. On another note, with the dryness out here and the wildfire last week that burned over 8,000 acres - you can bet there will be no lighting petrol on the property - even if most of the ant hills are in sandy soil. Several of our beautiful pine trees have suffered damage from the late heavy wet snow we had the beginning of the month. We lost 1/2 of a twinset tree - hoping the remaining half will survive. Today DH showed me a tree in the front that the darned bear "marked" by ripping the bark clear off the tree in several places. Blasted bear. Happy is not fond of bears either. Ok, I just wanted to do a quick check in. It's off to bed for me. 'night all. Sweet dreams and a good afternoon's nap to you Shad. Nurse that sore foot. |

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY Good morning everyone. A cold Memorial Day so far on the East coast. This nip in the air gets to you after awhile. I woke up on my own at 5AM...when I can sleep in, I can't?? WTF It must be because I don't get used to a solid night's sleep. Who knows. Any way I got tired of tossing and turning, My refrigerator is making a sound like a diesel engine. Guess it must be getting ready to break down. Sounds like the fan cause the rest of it is working fine. I'll leave a repair note for myself tonite along with other tenants. I watched NCIS all day and did little jobs around the house. Finally got out the sewing box and put buttons back on blouses. God I hate that job. I would l.ike disposable clothes:rofl:  I am off to find something to eat. Richie bought me a guava bun. Jen bought me a coffee. Breakfast is a treat today:love: Ceejay....Sorry you have to work the holiday. Maybe the phones will be quiet with everyone doing the BBQ thing. My friend can retire about the same time as you. We can celebrate together:gift: Happy....I had some laughs at your post. Felt good to giggle so early in the morning. The humming birds are too funny. Guess they won't be needing an Viagra this year. What irony to go out for pizza and find the cousins!! ROFLMAO They got snagged for sure. Too funny but not funny. White elephant for sure. Cracked up about the blue hairs being vetoed from the commune!!! I don't even want to meet up with any of them in Heaven. Going to ask God for a favor to give me a cloud of my own!!! Hope your plants make it and it stays warmer. :crossed: We still have heat on low. 47 this morning. I can just see you whisking the pants off!! OMG!!! I hate any kind of bug let alone ticks!! Forget what I said about moving out there.  Laura....hope the food was better than the invite!! Haaaaaa! :D Michelle...glad you are enjoying old & new friends. Have a good time with the BBQ!! Shad.....Scones??? YUM!!! I'll bring the cream, jams and butter!! Put the pot on and we'll all have a cuppa! Hope the blister heals fast. Great exercising. I took the weekend off from pedaling but did it last night anyway. You only have 29 kg to go!!! I only have 50 lbs!! :faint: How are the meds working??? Sending love your way:hug: |
Mel
Love your graphic this morning. And your post in red and blue. I'm praying for a quiet day as well. Happy I saw the pictures you posted of the garden on FB. Looks healthy so far. Yikes on the bear marking his spot in the woods. Don't you love being outside. Tick's. ugh can't stand them. Deer ticks can cause lyme's disease. Michelle So glad you are finding things to do with Santa. And what a great way to meet new friends. Laura How was the bbq? Shad I'm with Mel -hope you bought enough scones for everyone. I hadn't thought of burning out ants. I have poured bleach down their den though and boy did they scramble. Even the queen emerged. -------------------------- Yesterday was almost to quiet and praying that today will be quiet as well. I'm wanting to take up Yoga. Found one DVD on line that had stretching which did my body good. I was sore from being outside on Saturday. Guess I need to get to work. My computer is acting funny, like it's going to crash. I've told the boss. |
Good morning all,
Quick post for me as I should get outside and get busy before the afternoon rains come in. It's cloudy, it's sunny, it's cool, it's breezy, it gets dark. So hard to figure out what it's going to do. Ceejay - you can't beat yoga for exercise. There are different styles and different instructors, see if you can find a person you like by looking online and get one of their videos. Bummer that you have to work today. Hope it's a quiet one. Michelle - you sound like you are in touch with lots more people than you were in WI. That's a good thing. Mel - know what you mean about the mending thing. I just fixed a bunch of stuff the other day. Still having found my sewing box from the move, thank goodness I don't need any weird thread colors. Love the idea of having your own cloud in heaven  I wonder if everything just gets along because it's heaven but I doubt it - that's probably why sometimes you see little bits of clouds all over the sky  Sounds like a yummy breakfast fit for a holiday. Enjoy. Shad - 60 dollars an hour for tutoring is quite the bargain but I'm thinking the blue hairs would think it highway robbery. How do you feel about $2.50 an hour? Hope the rest of the chicks are enjoying themselves. Make sure you work in a picnic or at least go outside and eat sitting in a lawn chair. After all, this is the All American BBQ holiday  See yah later chicks... |
Morning all. Barely. I'll probably have to change this before I post because it will soon be past noon. Anyway...Happy Memorial Day.
Happy - Glad to hear dh's cardio appointment went well. Good thing you got approval for your medication - that out of pocket cost was insane! You sounded very busy with your veg garden planting, and the photos on fb prove it. Makes my grand total of 4 veg plants seem very humble, LOL. What a tomato variety - weather (and garden gods) permitting, you should have a great harvest! Scary what the bear did to the tree, and eek re the ticks!!! Just can't stand insects at all, and you can get really sick from ticks in particular. Be careful out there! Michelle - Your dinner and Star Trek movie sounded like a nice evening, though I'll leave that movie for the Trekkies. Not my thing. Your dog walk meet-ups sound wonderful - what a great way to get out and for you and Santa to enjoy being outdoors and to meet people/dogs and make new friends. So glad it worked out for you. Ceejay - Glad all has been quiet yesterday and today at work. Did you get your filing cabinet figured out? Eek, snake - even just the signs one was nearby!!! Hope it's long gone and isn't around to scare the bejeebers out of you on a future visit to the shed!! I'd like to have time to do yoga - have to figure out how to fit it in because it's excellent for developing flexibility and balance. I'd like to find a video with an instructor that I like, but no luck so far. Let me know if you find one you like!! Mel - LOL re the burnt roast, but scary that the alarms didn't go off!!! Boo on the chilly weather, but if it keeps things quiet, good enough. You've got that NCIS marathon to keep you entertained. :D I had the same thought as Shad - that Richie's kids would be at that age where they wouldn't want to spend the summer away from their friends at home in FL. Do they have friends up at the trailer?? Love your red white & blue post today. :) Fingers :crossed: your fridge hangs on until someone figures out the problem. Shad - I slept in on Saturday too, almost to the point of oversleeping for my breakfast with my former co-worker. You sound your usual go-go-go busy. I like to think people like me balance out the world of people like you and Annie, LOL. Glad the cream is working. As for not keeping up in these classes I take...I'm getting better at doing what's best for me, especially if it means I don't end up too sore or tired to function the rest of the day or the following day! Hi Annie - you must be busy having fun or just plain busy! === Nice weekend so far. It was nice to get a headstart on my long weekend on Friday. Bf and I walked doggy and then went out for an early dinner. Then it was off to the garden center for the flowers and veggie plants. Saturday I had a nice breakfast with my former co-worker. Woulda been healthier if I'd gotten the side of toast instead of the side of pancakes - I ate one of the pancakes with butter and syrup of course. The turkey sausage was tasty - had me wondering if it was really the turkey sausage or just the full-fat pork variety...Always interesting talking with my former co-worker B. On home maintenance matters, the topic of getting a proper exhaust fan vent installed in our roof for the full bathroom came up. When I mentioned that what I thought was the vent turned out to be the vent for the plumbing stack, he was clueless - plumbing stack, sewer gas??!! He's the squirrely confirmed bachelor type with too much time on his hands, so I imagine he went home and got on the internet to research it. Back home for r&r before I left again for my eye doc appointment. That went alright. Going back to get a trial of a different brand contact lens, and some sort of scan for the eyes that the doc likened to an MRI for the eye. I have some thinning of the something or other and he just likes to make use of his fancy equipment I think. No, seriously, I feel better with this new doc, he looks at things the old doc either didn't consider at all or just didn't want to invest in the equipment to allow the tests to be done. Dinner with my 3 HS friends was nice, and later, I went with one of them to a bar closer to her house to watch the end of the hockey game and wait for bf and his friend to meet us. BF and I drove into the city together and he met his friend to go to an outdoor neighborhood music fest not too far away, while I dined w/ my pals. He enjoyed the two bands, but it was too chilly for his taste to be standing outdoors for extended time periods. Glad I was indoors! :D Yesterday I went to the Beach Ready Body class. With the kettlebell instructor - very challenging. The guy's obsessed with those plank moves! Next Sunday is the last day of this punchcard session but I might do the Zumba class instead of this one just to give myself a break and enjoy the Latin rhythms. After my shower I was ready to spend the day slothfully, but instead I got my 4 veggie plants planted. One regular size tomato, one Sweet 100 cherry tomato, one Blue Lake green bean plant and one Fresno Chili pepper plant. I might plant some cilantro again too. I put tomato cages around all four plants and skipped putting up the fence around the plot. Right next to the veggie plot is a hodge-podge garden bed with a bit of everything and always something new popping up. This year, there are iris blooming in there! Pretty! Otherwise, there's always peonies, daylilies, milkweed, phlox, columbine and some poor sedum. The sedum are shorter than everything else in there and get buried in the tall foliage. Taking pity on them, I decided to dig up the two good-sized clumps of them and move them to the other garden bed. I think they'll do better there, it's shadier too. Too funny, I was showing bf where I planted the sedum I'd moved and said I could have sworn we already had some more in this other spot, but I only saw one existing clump. We looked more closely and found the other clump had been overtaken by more daylilies! And that's our garden in a nutshell - always in the midst of being overtaken by weeds or out-of-control perennials! I stopped after that, so I still have my window boxes to plant w/ impatiens and other planters/beds to plant w/ geraniums. I wasn't up for doing it this morning and still not in the mood, so they can wait! The cookout yesterday was nice - very low key. Company was nice - hadn't seen some of those friends in a while. Food was fine. I did okay on all my portions except for the potato chips - which is why I don't keep them in the house!!! Very ho-hum day today so far. I put in a load of laundry and it sounds like the cycle has ended. Fingers crossed - I bought a nice cotton casual jacket at the thrift store last weekend and belatedly noticed it had what looked like old grease stains on it. Boo. I laundered it after putting some Oxy Clean on it, but nope, spots remained. Saturday I treated the spots with some Dawn dishwashing liquid and today laundered the jacket again. Fingers :crossed: it budged the spots. It's not the measly $4 I paid for it, it's that I really liked the jacket... Wish me luck! Everyone have a great rest of the weekend! |
HAPPY Memorial Day!!!!
Just busier than a one armed paper hanger. Wasn't so bad with bro and SIL....they were busy, didn't get home each evening till 9 pm, I went to bed shortly after. They left each day by 9am. BYE!!! I also took marinated chicken for those that did not like fish. Then made the following homemade...potato salad, deviled eggs, baked beans, macncheese, cole slaw, banana cream stuff I made up, pumpkin mousse pie, and then had lil man and took sass roo with also. Played cornhole and ate....Got home at 5:30 Sis and Chris got her at 6 pm after the race and picked the babe up...which he was absolutely perfect all 3 days for me. Such a treat. I then died on the couch till bro and SIL got her. Sass is now resting her head on my hand while I type. All and all it was a fantastic great 3 days...happy all went well.
