Happy Mother's Day!!!!!!!!
This is for all the mothers who have sat up all night with sick toddlers in their arms, wiping up barf laced with Oscar Mayer wieners and cherry Kool-Aid saying, "It's OK honey, Mommy's here." when they keep crying and won't stop. This is for all the mothers who show up at work with spit-up in their hair and milk stains on their blouses and diapers in their purse. For all the mothers who run carpools and make cookies and sew Halloween costumes. And all the mothers who DON'T. This is for the mothers who gave birth to babies they'll never see. And the mothers who took those babies and gave them homes. This is for all the mothers who froze their buns off on metal bleachers at football or soccer games Friday night instead of watching from cars, so that when their kids asked, "Did you see me?" they could say, "Of course, I wouldn't have missed it for the World," and mean it. This is for all the mothers who yell at their kids in the grocery store and swat them in despair when they stomp their feet like a tired 2-year old who wants ice cream before dinner. This is for all the mothers who sat down with their children and explained all about making babies. And for all the mothers who wanted to but just couldn't. For all the mothers who read "Goodnight, Moon" twice a night for a year. And then read it again. "Just one more time." This is for all the mothers who taught their children to tie their shoelaces before they started school. And for all the mothers who opted for Velcro instead. This is for all the mothers who teach their sons to cook and their daughters to sink a jump shot. This is for all mothers whose heads turn automatically when a little voice calls " Mom ?" in a crowd, even though they know their own off spring are at home. This is for all the mothers who sent their kids to school with stomach aches, assuring them they'd be just FINE once they got there, only to get calls from the school nurse an hour later asking them to please pick them up right away. This is for mothers whose children have gone astray, who can't find the words to reach them. For all the mothers who bite their lips sometimes until they bleed--when their 14 year olds dye their hair green. What makes a good Mother anyway? Is it patience? Compassion? Broad hips? The ability to nurse a baby, cook dinner, and sew a button on a shirt, all at the same time? Or is it heart? Is it the ache you feel when you watch your son or daughter disappear down the street, walking to school alone for the very first time? The jolt that takes you from sleep to dread, from bed to crib 2 A.M. to put your hand on the back of a sleeping baby? The need to flee from wherever you are and hug your child when you hear news of a fire, a car accident, a child dying? For all the mothers of the victims of all these school shootings, and the mothers of those who did the shooting. For the mothers of the Survivors, and the mothers who sat in front of their TVs in horror, hugging their child who just came home from school, safely. This is for mothers who put pinwheels and teddy bears on their children's graves. This is for young mothers stumbling through diaper changes and sleep deprivation. And mature mothers learning to let go. For working mothers and stay-at-home mothers. Single mothers and married Mothers. Mothers with money, mothers without. |
Beautiful Sherry. Thanks. Way to go on the weightloss. Keep it up.
Shelley that is great. Journaling always helps me too. Don't know why I don't always do it. Debbie reading your daily plan brought tears to my eyes. I know you must be wondering "why" Well you see my favorite grandmother was in the hospital for a few weeks and we all went to see her every day. She really wasn't doing that bad. They were going to send her home soon. She was just in with a flu and a med adjustment. Well on Motner's Day she walked down the hospital hall and called Mom. She said that she was doing fantastic and that her brother and wife was visiting and that we didn't need to come today, tomorrow would be fine. She died later that night on mother's day. I know my mom feels guilty about taking the day off with her kids and grand kids. That would have been the last visit. That was 15 years ago. I am so glad that you are visiting your mom. Grandma's death was the one death that was the hardest for me. Enough of that depressing stuff on Mother's Day. I hope the Best for everyone of you today. Dez is working this morning til 2:00. She started at 5:30 am. She sent me 12 email cards so that she would be here in spirt......cute. Jay is at the lake with his girl friend. He will be home in time for us all to go out to Montana's for supper. There will be 11 of us. Mom and Dad have been visiting her sister. They will get home later this afternoon. I have a stack of gifts on the table to open. And there is one just in front of me now outside the window. Dez bought me a ceramic hand crafted bird feeder from Vietnam. It is a cobolt blue dish with a birdie on top. I just love it. Well I better run, I promised Larry I would meet him in the shower.....lol The we are having flaming crepes made by your's truely chef Larry. Hopefully he will be clothed by then so his hairy chest won't catch fire. Better go he is waiting. I hope a very good day for all my friends. Happy Mother's Day! |
Happy Mother's Day to all my Floozie Friends!

I relaxed and didn't do much cleaning!! :o I guess that I'm a good Mom afterall.Sometimes I wonder since I fuss so much! My Brother & I gave my Mom flowers & money (so she could buy some clothes) and I cleaned her house while they were gone to the beach. I've got to get to work.....More Tonight...... Have a great OP day!! |
Belated Happy Mothers' Day to all you Floozie Moms!
I'm not one, so I just have to give all the wishes away. Maybe someday..... I am facing a delimma. One of those choices has come up that I need prayers for. I am faced with a choice of career vs. possible (future) family. There is a job opening within the state, but on the opposite corner which I have been told that I "really need" to apply for. If I get the job, however, it may mean giving up my fiance (he has already told me that under no circumstances will he EVER move from where he lives right now). On the one hand, I really want this job, because I have always been very independent, and I like the idea of being financially secure on my own ($60k/year earning w/in next 4-5 years). On the other hand, I'm 27-yrs-old and would really like to start a family w/in the next 3 yrs. I love my fiance, but I don't know if I want to give up "my life" because he refuses to move with me. I know that ultimately, this is a decision that I'll have to make on my own. I just needed to hash it out. Of course, I may not even GET the job if I apply for it, and be worrying about nothing (I am prone to do that :) ) It's just a lot to think about right now!! Anyway, if y'all are interested, I'll keep you updated. Thanks for "listening." Cheryl |
Cheryl, do you feel that this is really the man that you want to spend the rest of your life with? Will you resent him if you make the decision not to move? If the shoe was on the other foot, do you love him enough to move if he had the offer? All of this is worth considering. I once made a bad career move and turned down a great job offer all because my THEN husband did not want me to take it. We later divorced and I have regretted not having the "balls" to stand up for myself and take the job when it was offered. You could always send in a resume, then if it was offered, make the decision. What would it hurt? BTW: You are still young enough that kids could come later, I had my last one at 36 years old. Good luck with your decision!
Sher: Boy, you must be a special mommy! Diamond earrings, W@W!!!! Allision gave me a new painting brush that I wanted and some oil paints. Liz gave me a "to small" shirt and a pair of sandals. Funny that it worked out that she really likes the shirt and it is "just her size"!!!!!!!! |
Cheryl - I totally agree with Gayle. Make sure this is the guy you definitely want to spend the rest of your life with. Quite frankly, if he isn't willing to compromise a little for you, I don't think he's much worth it...just MHO, though...
|
Hello All:
Yes I am still alive and well. I don't know what my problem is about posting, but after a long day at work on the computer I am lucky to log on and check my emails. I used to be a really computer nut. On it for hours. Now I don't take the time. Sorry guys for being a party poop!! Sherry, Debbie & Gayle: I know how you worry about me when I don't post. You think I just blew it and am ashamed to come back and let you all know... but.... I DID NOT BLOW IT. It has been 24 days OP for me!!!! I have been very good girls. I have lost a total of 12 lbs since I started OP on 4/18/03! Sherry: I am proud of you for staying OP for so long. You are inspiring.. Also, I agree with the other gals. Probably nothing to worry about, just get that mamagram done so you don't have to worry anymore!! Debbie: How is Mom doing? And James? Sherry...I love the floating Stars!!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day. About 8.30 yesterday morning my Dad called and told me not to plan on visiting Mom at the hospital for Mother's Day. My heart sank as he told me he was getting ready to go pick her up to come home. :D What a great gift from her doctors!! So after having lunch with my kids, we went for a short visit at Mom and Dad's. Mom is doing so great, thank you all for your prayers! God is good!! Sherry.....We are in for the count-down now!!! Only 7 & 1/2 more days!! I am so ready for this school year to be over. And ready for sand in the crack too...LOL  Carol...Drum Roll Please!!! :flow1: :flow1: WTG!! Girly!! I always knew you could do it!! I'm so proud of you!! :twirly: Jennelle....WTG!! 12 pounds is awesome!! I think we are truely a weigh-loss thread now...LOL. Cheryl.....I agree with everyone esle, apply for the job and then make your decision. If this guy is the one for you, things will work out. Gayle...Funny about that shirt. Sounds like my daughter at that age, but the shirt and sandals would have been her size...LOL. Dee....That is so sad about your grandmother. Everytime I leave Grannymom's I cry all the way home. It just upsets me so much, it's has if she is just sitting there waiting to die. I know that day will come and I know that I won't be ready to give her up. Love to all my floozie friends!! This week things {should} slow down for me, I'll try to post more. Hugs...Debbie |

The ear rings were a nice gift.I just hope I'm not the one ending up paying for them! He has a new credit card and I hope he can keep the payments up.Don't they just love to issue them to college kids!? LOL Cheryl, I agree with everyone else.Apply for the job and see what happens then OR see how you FEEL then if you get it! I know you love him but I just don't want to see you "regretting" the situation later down the road.Good luck & please keep us updated! Shelley, Are you ok? I've noticed that you've only posted on the walking thread. What's up? I miss your posts here!!! Jennelle & Carol, Again......Congrats on the weight loss!!! |
YOU GIRLS ARE DOING FANTASTIC WITH THE WEIGHT LOSS!!!! You are "Da Bomb!!" :smug:
Carol: Did you realize that you are averaging a 1/2 pound loss per day by the days that you have been OP? GREAT JOB and yes, we DID miss you! Deb: Glad Mom is back home and on the road to recovery. Enjoy your ime with her. Dee: When will the article about your basement be finished? Also, I have meant to ask, how's Jackie? Sher: I had a mental image for a moment of you, Wayne and the ring.....:o Did Wayne go ahead and help out??? LOL!! I dread the day that Liz gets a "real" credit card! She currently has her first one to a department store, the one she use to work at. That's how I am assuming I rated the sandals and shirt! Everyone is doing super staying OP! I guess we are riding the weight loss train to success!! |
hello all!
whew we had some high winds that knocked our power out 8xs yesterday. the last time it went out as survivor came on. i was sooo upset then i called mom and asked if shed tape it for me. the power was out till 11pm. it was nuts. of all the storms the wind knopcked the power out. carol-great job on the weight loss! keep up the great work! shelley-woho on getting back to goal. so glad the kids are back together. sher-wohooo on your awesome loss!!!!! ive never heard of your ring, lol im thinking of wayne helping. im going thru the change but doc wants me to stay on the pill. nice on the diamonds, youll wear em well. take care, doni |
Sherry-Thanks for worrying about me--I'm fine. I've been using my spare time when I am not at work or running, to make beaded necklaces for my SIL. She has a business, and pays $1.25 per string of beads. My DD's and I have a bunch of them at home and are trying to make some extra money. I want to save for a new pair of running shoes.
My mom took me shopping on Mother's Day and bought me 3 pairs of pants for my upcoming birthday. They are all 6's!! Not only that, they fit very loose!! I tried on 1 pair that was a little snugger than the rest, and discovered they were 4's!! It feels great to be back on track!! Congratulations to Carol, Debbie, Sherry, Jennelle, and everyone else that has managed to stay OP during these stressful times!! Gotta go do some beadwork before I leave for work!! |
SHELLEY, CONGRATS ON MEETING GOAL!!!!!!!!! :D
What knid of necklaces are you making? Do you use plastic or glass beads? I make bracelets and earrings in my spare time, which basically means that I get only a few done here and there. Doni: Glad to hear that you survived the wind. Sorry to hear you missed Surviver. I was to busy this go around, I never watched it. Although, I have been catching Mr. Personality. RAMONAAAAAAAAAAAAAA??? JEANNEEEEEEEEEEEE??? Are you two still around???? |
Wow!! I'm so proud of everyone's weight losses!! I lost 4 1/2 when I weighed in at my TOPS meeting last night. I guess hard work does pay off :) Now, if I could just keep that up!
I spoke w/my fiance last night about the possibility of me getting a job and moving South. His first question was "Where is Lewisville?" His second question was "What kind of job would there be for me in Shreveport?" Then he made the comment "I bet they've got some good fishing holes down there." MEN.... Anyway, he told me that I do need to apply for the job (which I had decided to do, anyway), which was nice to hear from him. So I've got my papers together and am going to mail them tomorrow. Wish me luck, one way or the other! And thanks for all the input. Shelley--how long have you been a runner? I want to try, at some point, but I've got to lose some #s first!! Cheryl |
CHERYL, YOU'RE DOING SUPER WITH THE WEIGHT LOSS!! CONGRATS!!!! :D
Men, who can out guess them!! Happy to hear that he is receptive to the plan. It sounds like to me, that we can convince our men to do anything as long as a remote, an ol' fishin hole, a beer or getn' a little is involved!!!! |
Do any of you guys use the self tanners? If so, what brand do you prefer?
|
Sherry wow diamond earrings from your son!!! Angel that is what you are! Do you think that ring Wayne wanted to help you with might be diamonds in disguise? :D I just want to tell you that I am really worried about your test results. I think about it often and I am hopeful everything will be fine. After what I have been through with Mom I don't want you to be sick too. You are one of my Best Friends! Last but least I have to say something about your weight loss. You are amazing! I have to get back at it, I haven't been making good food choices. That time of the month and it is driving me crazy this time with sweet cravings.
Debbie My heart stopped there when you said about your Dad saying that you didn't' t have to go to the hospital. I am happy that your mother made it home for mother's day. Hey, staying the same on the scale is better than moving up! Who knows you may show a larger loss next week. Keep drinking that water, it really moves the scale down. Gayle cute T that you got for your birthday. Maybe you can tell Allison that you might borrow it sometime. Use it for a wet t-shirt contest. :D Thanks for asking about Jackie. She is slowly slipping a bit. The doctors have done all they can. She just had a Kat Scan and will get results next week. She went on a little trip for a few days. I hope that her tumor has shrunk from treatments. Shelley, hmm, making beaded necklaces in your spare time.....I like the idea of making Dez a few for her birthday. I have lots of different beads here. Could you tell me how you make them. Her 17th birthday is friday. That is nice that you bought you some pants for mother;s day/ birthday. Nice to be a small size. That was my size too before I gained this weight. Hopefully I will get there again. Ramona where are you??? Are things ok over there? How was your Mother's Day? Please post. :( Cheryl I am glad to hear that your fiancé says go for it. It is important to have support from your partner. Good luck on the job. What kind of job is it? You are doing great on the weight loss. Doesn't it make you feel more in control of your life? Carol I haven't forgotten you. I am so proud of you for staying on program. Way to go on the weight loss. Jennelle another loser in our mists! :bravo: Great, keep it up! Doni that would suck to miss the last episode of Survivor! I am glad that your mom taped it for you. We just watched it monday night. Mother's day was to busy for us to watch it then. So I warned all my friends not to say anything. Didn't even turn tv on or radio. What do you think of Jenna winning? Vicki we have tornadoes around here too. Not to often but they are so scary! I just hate them. Glad that your family and home made it through. Our basement article was in the paper on sunday. I will post the link soon. I didn't like the photos this time but the story was good. Mom is doing ok. She will start her radiation next week. She has permanent damage to her valves of her leg from the blood clot. They are calling it 'anima' (spelling?) which means swelling. Her leg will flare up with swelling and she really hasn't been able to do much. She is stubborn enough to want the same size garden as always. She wasn't able to put it in so Larry and I plus my sister and husband planted it for her. I am not sure about the picking and weeding. Now when I say garden I don't mean a tiny one. She has a market garden where she sells veggies. Yeah, it is a big job. For mother's day I was spoiled like a "princess" Jay gave me that name awhile ago, when he was fighting with me. It just stuck. I got a hand crafted blue ceramic bird feeder from Dez. It is just hanging outside my pc window. I love to watch the birds. That is my 5th feeder. She also emailed me 13 cards. She was at work til 2:00 so she said that she wanted to have me feel her sprit and know that I was with her. And from Jay he gave me some eye cream. Larry told him to go to the drug store and buy the most expensive one...lol Yeah well when he found out the price he just laughed and of course bought a cheaper one. Larry bought me a dinner plate red dahlia which is 5 feet tall. A patio tomatoes which already has little tomatoes on it. He also bought me a beautiful planter with frogs, flowers and lady bugs on it. Of course he had to buy me something practical too, which was a medical dictionary. My dog Amigo bought me a vase and tulips with a card "I am sorry". He broke my favorite vase last week. It was one mom and dad ordered for each of us kids from mexico. It was blown glass with a heart and humming bird on it. It was for holding a single rose. I was pretty sad after he did that. Well now he is forgiven. Now that I rambled on I better go get some laundry done. Hope you all have a good one. |
OK, this is the third time I have posted today and none of them went through. Maybe the third time will be the charm......
Sherry, I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. I know everything will be OK. Let us know. Cheryl, good luck with the job. I hope everything works out. It sounds like the boyfriend is a keeper!! Dee, you ARE treated like a princess by your family. Wow, I didn't even get a card! hahaha All of you who posted your losses for the week...CONGRATULATIONS!!!! You are all super duper in my book!!! OK, here is what has had me preoccupied for the last week. We are getting ready to make an offer on a new house. It is actually a new old house. It was built the year I was born(1959) by my grandfather for a local doctor. My hubby's grandfather did all the brick work and sidewalks and my uncle built the cabinetry. It was quite the showplace back in those days and is still in incredible condition! It has 3000 square feet which is double what I have now. There are huge closests all through the house which are cedar lined. It has a double fireplace....one in the den and one in the formal living room. It is a beautiful house. It is also across the street from our store, one block from church and one block from my favorite mexican restaurant.....what more could you ask for?????hahahah When it came on the market, my dad made an appointment for me to see it and encouraged us to make an offer. I think it holds a lot of sentimental value to him(and to me). We told him he should buy it but he says it's too late in life for them to try and move. ANYWAY, if it is meant to be, it will happen and if not, I'm still happy right where I am. BUT, if we do get it, SHERRY, WILL YOU COME CLEAN MY HOUSE SO I CAN SELL IT????????HAHAHAHA Better get to work now......more later Ramona |
Ramona, best wishes to you that the house deal go's through! It sounds just lovely, plus as you said, it holds so much sentimental value. I have a friend who makes it a hobby to purchase a house, fix it up, then resell. One of her "helpful hints" for selling is to either make a pie in the oven or have some cookie/baking scent going on in a simmer pot. When the prospective buyers walk in, right away they feel at home. If you convince Sher to come clean your house, push her on up this way...not selling mine, but it needs a good scrubbing!
Dee: Ditto what Ramona said! Your family treats you so well! Guess I should start calling you "Farmer Dee" since you will be gardening all Summer! |
Wow-Everyone has so much to say, but I don't have much time. To everyone that asked, the beads my SIL gets are sterling and also gemstones, onyx, etc. The ones I am making right now are onyx and the beads are very tiny. It takes me forever to make one because I have a hard time seeing the hole even with my glasses!!
Dee- You are a princess and you know it!! I can't wait to meet you in person, along with all my other Floozie friends. You all have become my circle of very, very close friends!! Ramona-I am sending luck your way. It would be wonderful if they take your offer. Cheryl-I've been running for 3 or 4 years now. I love it, and when I started I couldn't even go for 1 minute without getting out of breath!! BTW, who can guess what men will do or say at any minute?? You gotta love em', though!! Talk to everyone later! |
Howdy
I hope that everyone had a great OP day!! I love to come home after a long, hard day at work to find so many posts!! :D I don't have time to post to everyone tonight but did want to make a couple. Ramona, The description of the house is UNREAL!! I hope that everything will work out so you'll be able to buy it.It sure sounds like my kinda house!! Does it have beautiful hardwood floors? I do have a question: You said that your Grandfather, Uncle & your hubby's Grandfather built the house. So does this mean that you & hubby and your families knew one another and ya'll grew up together? If so, that is so cool!!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!! :crossed: Dee, You are such a sweet person!! It means so much to me to know that you worry about me! I know that I'll be ok. When you hear the Dr. say "lump" you automactially panic! I guess that's normal. It's probably a cyst and everything will be fine.I just know it! Thanks hon!! About your house: Please post the article soon.I'm about to die to see it! On what I've seen so far, I love your house!! If I had the money to fly there, believe me, I'd be there! Thanks again for being a great friend! Luv Ya!! :grouphug: To All My Floozie Friends: Be good, Be Careful & Stay OP!! ;) Love you all!!!! Will post again Tomorrow!! Hugs...... |
Ramona the house sounds wonderful I love old houses, they have so much more character, and this one so much history and sentiment. I really hope that things will work out for you. Maybe that is why you didn't move out to the lake. So close to work too. When will you decide if you will put an offer on it?
Sherry always know that I often think of you especially if something is troubling you. Farmer Dee |
Here is the article.....
go to www.winnipegfreepress.com select home--------then Tropical Paradise in the basement. There was more pics but this is the only one in the article. We also have the pics on the web for any of you that haven't seen them before. Here it is http://community.webshots.com/user/lboitson There is also some pics from Puerta Vallarta too. |
Hey everyone!
Dee-I loved the article and the pictures, wow! You've really created a cool space for yourselves. Made me feel like I was in Mexico. Very cute and creative. Looks like you enjoyed the process of putting it together too. I haven't been posting as much lately because they did a website report on all of us at work and told us to cool it on the personal use...geeze, I can hear it now "what does 3fatchicks.com have to do with entertainment law?"... maybe I was researching a potential story line for an MOW, yeah, that's it! I'm still plugging away at Atkins...not much to report weight loss wise...still down 18 lbs...I guess my camping food forays didn't help but I'm okay with it. Time for me to sign off....Keep on losing Floozies...all of you are such great inspiration to me! Thank you! |
Thank you Jeanne for the compliment. We did love putting our Paradise together. It was a lot of fun. I really hope that you will be able to work your way around posting here. We all enjoy your input.
Farmer Dee |
Hey Farmer Dee, no time to visit the link now, but will later on today. Have fun today in the cucumber patch!
Jeanne: You just tell that silly ol' boss of your's that there is important business to be taken care of with us Floozies! No such time to goof around and actually take care of work/business!! :smug: |
WOW, we got hit yesterday by storms and just got our power back on......18 hours later!
Man, I sure don't long for the good ole days if it means no electricity!!! lololol Thanks everyone for the good wishes on the house. Like I said, if it's meant to happen, it will. Sherry, not only did mine and hubby's grandfather's work together, but our mother's went to work for the telephone co. together right out of high school. Our dad's were both overseas in the Korean war at the same time, and one of hubby's brothers was married in the church where my other grandfather was the preacher!........weird huh???? I'll be back to catch up with everyone in a bit.....gotta go get all the equipment plugged back in and running. Later floozies.... Ramona |
Ramona: When I was a child, my Aunt had a very best friend to the point of you never seen one of them without the other. She had a young boy about my age and we would play together. It was a family joke that we would one day grow up and marry each other. In high school, I had a girlfriend that I considered to be my best friend. Now, lets go forward about 15 years.... I apply for a job, the young man interviewing me is cute, in a geeky, nerdy sort of way.... we date and marry...turns out the two kids that I ran around with are his cousins and the Aunts best friend was his Aunt! Gets better... so by now it turns out that all of the families knew each other, but Steve and I had never crossed paths... one night we were all sitting and talking and Steves Dad mentioned a house to my Mom, turns out that the same house that my Mother lived in as a child, was purchase later by Steves Grandad and Grandma and his Dad lived in the same house!! WEIRD HUH???? I just hope there isn't any in-breeding going on!!!!

Gayle, I humming the theme from the "Twilight Zone" LOL
Isn't it strange how you can not even know a person and yet have so much background together. I was working in the mall when my hubby(before I knew him) saw me and wanted to ask me out. His kid brother was with him and said he knew me because we went to church together. He actually sent his 10 year old brother into the store to see if I would go out with him!!!!! I did, we hated each other, tried it again 6 months later and the rest is history!!! hahaha I may need to check out that inbreeding thing myself! LOL |
It's funny when we get together for one of the kid's birthday... Steve and I sit back while the rest of the family taks about old times!
