Hello Ladies,

Hope you are all doing good today.

Debee, I am sure you will find your path back to the healthy world. I am going to Anaheim, CA and San Diego.

Lady, congrats on the "No eating after 8pm"

Taiwan,Sounds like you are doing good with the exercising, keep up the good work.

Cyan, Sorry to hear you still aren't feeling too good! Hope all went well with the Test results!

Miki, You have got to tell me how the Power 90 worked, I was so trying to buy that when I saw the infomercial!

Well, my husbands boss took us out to dinner today, and luckily I had 17pts to spare, I ate super light today for lunch! So we went to OutBack Steak House! Ohhhhh, it was soooo good!!!
I had Chicken and Shrimp with Fettuccini, of course I had to balance that out with a Salad and I had Iced tea, so I think I am still on track for the day! I am really trying, I did however, cheat yesterday and had a nice Burrito Bowl from a place called Chipotle. I also, think it was nerves and stress making me want comfort food!

Have a great day!
But I am trying.....

Well, I hope you all had a better day

MikiG 04-30-2003 11:07 PM

Well, once it's again it's almost 10 pm and Im just now getting a minute to check in. Hubby has figured out the CD burner and has spent the last 2 nites playing with it plus both kids now have their own messengers with all their friends so of course, Im the last scheduled in for use of the computer.

Debee, I got the pics yesterday..thanks so much! It's cool being able to put a face with the name now. You look great. Maybe one of these days, I'll get even close to being your size.

Cyan, sorry to hear you're feeling under the weather. Anything new with your mom? How did the appts go? Hopefully this weekend you'll have a chance to relax and take time for yourself.

Taiwan, I'm with Lady. Feeling that bad from a diet cannot be healthy or normal. I've been reading alot of the other threads thru this site and all of those on Atkins and similar diets seem to feel that going thru depression, tiredness, severe headaches, etc just come with the territory for the first 2 weeks. It's hard enough to make changes without having to feel terrible while doing it. I would never make it! It's great that soon you'll have a friend close by...you'll have to get her to walk with you.

Lady, I need to have the same challenge to eat breakfast every day. That's hard for me to commit to. I try but sometimes I honestly forget because I'm in such a rush then I'm starving by lunch.

Reina, I cant wait til my workout tapes get here! I'll be sure to let you know how they are. I'm really hoping to get some of this flab toned up. I dont want to wait til I have 40 more lbs gone before I start tightening up. ( not that there's a chance of that..I seem to be at a standstill or slow crawl the last week or so as far as the scales go)

I have eaten more calories this week plus starting drinking my water again. I just hope eating more doesnt backfire. I'm counting on it jumpstarting my metabolism again. I have no idea how Friday's weigh-in will be. I just have to not get discouraged regardless of what the scales say. I know that I am exercising more than ever and I dont need to cut down anymore on the calories. I still think its either that I need a few more calories or I need to make some changes in what foods are making up those calories. Oh, by the way, I have not had even one slice of bread this week. (yet anyway:s: lol)

Lisa, is school out yet? If not I hope it wont be long so you can get back with us! Miss hearing from you. Good luck on finals etc.

Cjunk and Annie...we havent forgotten you girls either! I think of you often.

Well, over halfway there for the weekend! Yeahhhhhhh:D Let's all try to have an "on track" rest of the week.

Miki

Good Morning Ladies

It was nice to take a few moments and read all your posts.

Seems like everyone is sticking to their guns and keeping at it...Your attitudes keep me trying...thanks so much.

My Mom's heart exam results were good...the doctor seemed a little surprised at how good her ticker is...LOL too bad her brain is not holding up so well. Her neurologist upped her alzheimer meds and also prescribed an anti psycotic to help with her aggresion. I am hoping this will help calm her down. And this will help me get some much needed rest and hopefully alone time at home.

I still have an ear infection and mild fever....,my neck glands are swollen but hopefully it too will pass. I just cant take time off now to go to the doctors....my boss would kill me.

I am planning on doing yoga again this saturday and I am playing badmington this sunday...I think that should be fun.

Well...I will try to address everyone individually as soon as I get more than a few minutes. Although, it seems everyone is doing just fine!

As anyone heard from Lisa? I hope she is doing well...if you read this Lisa...say hello..will ya?

Big hug to everyone

Cyan

Hi,

It's weigh-in day for me and since I weigh less in the morning than the rest of the day I weighed myself as soon as I got up...and I made my goal of 127.4! Yes, now I'm down to what I was when I left for vacation. Next week I WILL make 125...no excuses, no more telling myself it is ok to just have a nibble here and a nibble there.

What I did right this week..

1. Really tried to eat healthy ..skipped the drive-thru and the donuts at Jimmy's school.
2. Took more walks and did some gardening for exercise.
3. Drank more ice tea than coffee
4. Cut down on the cheese, chocolate, butter.
4. Posted here.

What I did not do good this week.
1. Still did not get back to the yoga--no time
2. Still snacked a bit after 8.p.m.
3. Need to fit more walks into the day (before the school bus and in the afternoon)

What I will do better next week.
1. Jim my hubby will be in London on a business trip so I will make new healthy recipes every night for me and the kids.
2. Try to walk at least four times next week.
3. Do gardening, heavy house cleaning
4. Drink more seltzer, ice tea, lemon water

Have to go to the bus stop Have a great day and please post!

cyan 05-03-2003 03:14 PM

Happy Saturday Everyone

Just a quick note...Its a beautiful day today....I went downtown to buy some bras...then I walked to my favorite sushi shop and picked up lunch to go ...went to the pharmacy and bought hair dye.

All in all...a nice day spent alone...just taking time off for myself...aaahhhhh!!!!! Its fabulous.

So now I sit here with dye in my hair and a belly full of sushi.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Debee..congrats on meeting your goal this week.

I havent weighed in...I find it too depressing when I dont lose.

Tomorrow I go play badmington in the afternoon in the park..that should be fun.

Thanks for all the well wishes..I woke up this morning feeling much better...you girls rock! Big hug to you all.

Cyan

Cyan and Debee, glad to hear you two are enjoying your weekend. Today has been BLAH for me. Not sure why exactly, but hubby and I are both in that draggy cant get anything done mood. We wasted the entire day today. Maybe partly because we were out til midnite last nite then slept late today. Also because this is the 2nd day in a row that I didnt walk and I can tell a huge difference in the way I feel.

I worked til 5 yesterday then we went to a festival last nite where my 20 yr old co-worker was playing in a rockband. I've been telling him for a year that we would come see him sometime. They were supposed to play at 8 pm but got rained out til 10 pm. (It was an outdoor concert, with food booths, carnival rides, etc) Speaking of food booths, I ate an extra long corndog and drank a real coke, not diet, while we were there.:o I did ask for Diet, but they only had regular.( not that it would have helped with that huge corndog:lol: )

I didnt get to weigh yesterday. I had been using my sister's scales but she took them back home with her. She gave them back today...she says she's too obsessed with them when they are at her house so I'll try to remember to weigh in the morning. I dont feel like Ive lost anything at all. From Nov-Mar, the weightloss was pretty continuous weekly but since the first of April, the scale just doesnt seem to move. Not sure what I need to do at this point to get back to losing again. Still waiting for my workout tapes to arrive. Maybe they will help.

Well, I hope the rest of you are having pleasant weekends. I'm going to try to have a better day tomorrow. Definitely gonna get my butt out of this house for a walk!:D

Miki

MikiG 05-04-2003 10:48 PM

Ok, I dont know what's gotten into me! I have eaten everything in the house today and No, I did not walk AGAIN!!!!! Plus, I weighed and showed 2.5 lbs MORE than last week!!!:?: I am getting very discouraged. I think the weighing is what triggered the rest of the failure for the day. I have worked and worked for WEEKS now and for four weeks I have lost 2 lbs total at the most and now even gained that back. I have felt like bursting into tears all afternoon! Tomorrow I start "Bootcamp"....serious exercise and healthy eating. I cant let myself get into a binging mood to erase everything I've accomplished!! Just this weekend has probably counteracted two whole weeks of eating right. How disgusting is that??:( I hope all of you are doing better than I am right now. I'm going to try really hard to have more positive news to share tomorrow nite. Ya'll kick me into gear...I need it! ( and deserve it )

Miki

Hello everyone! Hope you are all doing well???

Lisa and Miki, I hope you and the family are doing okay after all those twisters that touched down last night!

Debee, Congrats on getting back to Pre-Vacation weight! I am very proud of you, and you are giving me the extra incentive I need right now. Sounds like your weekly plan will keep you right on track!!!

Cyan, the badmington, the yoga, YOU GO GIRL!!!! Glad to hear that the test results came back with good news!!!

Mikki, I hear ya girl!!! I have been there, where I can eat myself to oblivien!(sp?) and I have found my way back, so I am sure you will fall right back into the good pattern that you have been in.

Lady & Taiwan, Hope you are both doing good!

Lisa, hope all is going well with you, good to hear you still plan on coming to Chicago!!! Looking forward to meeting all of you!

Well, OK......... I can't say I was doing great, but I didn't think I was doing too bad either!, but I gained 1lb this week!! I know I only worked out 1 time too,but that has all changed.

GET THIS!!!! I GOT UP AND WENT TO WORK OUT AT 6:30AM!!!:strong:
Yes, I did! and I feel great, Curves extended their hours, and are now open from 6:30 and as late as 8pm, so if I really want, I can go before work and after, but who am I kidding, I am lucky to get there once a day, I am not gonna push it!

So these things I will do this week
1. Work out 4 times this week
2. Stay within my Points range
3. Drink 64oz of water a day
4. TRY, I said TRY, to not eat past 8pm!!!

Ok, ladies, I have 4 weeks before I go on Vacation, so I really need to drop 8lbs by then, I know that is asking alot, but I always ask more of myself! So we will see!!!

Have a great week!

Hi Everyone!

Where does the time go? I can't believe I let so much time go by without posting! I met my friend Nancy for lunch last Thursday and she has met her lifetime goal weight! She was so proud and excited, and I was so happy for her. OK, I was really really jealous, but happy for her! It made me realize while she was busy eating helathy, exercising regularly and losing, I was stagnant and finding excuses for not losing. I needed a change to motivate me, so I joined WW online. This is not an ad for WW. We all have to find our own answer, but Nancy lost her weight in WW, and counting points instead of calories may be just the change I need. It will allow me to eat foods I couldn't before as long as they fit into the point limits and they provide lots of clever tools to track what I've eaten, and to calculate the points in my favorite foods. Because it's based on a balance of high fiber, low fat, and calories, I'm eating healthier than I was before. I will know next Monday if I am back into losing and you can bet you all will be the first to hear about it!

Reina – Sorry about that 1 lb gain, but so glad to hear you were there to "open" Curves at 6:30! Wow! Now that’s determination!
You keep it up, ya hear? I challenge you to join me in keeping within our points this week.

Cyan – Give me a minute while I stop laughing at you sitting there with dye in your hair and your belly full of sushi! Seriously, I’m so glad you had a wonderful relaxing day. Varying your exercise is a great idea, and fun too! You have such a positive attitude and so much determination I am sure you will start losing again soon.

Miki – I think you’re right, a gain on the scale will certainly throw me into an eating binge. It’s so hard to get back that magical, elusive “I can do this” attitude, but I know you can do it. Go back to what was working in Sept - March and follow it exactly – or introduce some changes to make losing exciting and new again. But most important – keep trying until you find what works for you!

Debee – Congratulations on making your goal!!! Girl you are lookin good! Let us know how those healthy dinners come out.

Taiwan – How are you? Still not eating after 8? I made it every night but one. How's the exercising going? Did your friend move there yet?

Hi ya Lisa! I think of you often. How's school?

Have a great day, everyone!

Hi Ladies,

I went to connecticut with the kids this weekend to see my father. Last week he was in the hospital because of a hernia and they plan to operate next week. He is 83 and just not doing well, my parents still live alone but they should be in an assisted living home with their medical problems...but they are very stubborn. My mom who is 81 is legally blind and is diabetic (my dad gives her shots twice a day) and my dad is on oxygen and is out of breath after a few minutes...it is probably a matter of months for one of them and then I am sure that the other will follow soon afterwards. It is sad because my parents were very active up until a few years ago...traveling, driving, even still working. Now all they talk about is how all of their friends are dying and their hospital visits. I really wanted to kids to be with my parents since Jim's parents are gone and my boys only have my parents as grandparents. It's hard because we have no realitives less than a four hour drive away. Well, enough about my family. This weekend I was pretty good I went out with my sister and mother to a rib place and had some seafood on sunday I think overall on the weekend I did not binge or eat too many calories.

I don't have time to write everyone but I wanted to yelll at Miki to get back on the program with her airwalker...Listen to me you willl lose weight this week, you will not binge because if you do I will be on your shoulder screaming do not eat it, I will tell you is it worth it, I will ask you why are you eating it and then I will scream does it "taste better than being thin" if you can not answer yes...then you better spit it out and throw the rest away!

MikiG 05-05-2003 09:03 PM

Debee, thanks for making me laugh. Somehow your reprimand seemed more funny than scary. It just might work tho...I have this mental pic now of you sitting right on my shoulder watching every bite I take.:dizzy: Sorry to hear your parents arent doing well but it's good that you were able to go with your family for a visit. I'm sure that helped your parents more than any meds could do.

Lady...good luck with the WW. My cousin Vicki lost 60 lbs on it last year. She's the reason I got started back trying to lose...didnt want her to show me up..lol

Cyan, Im sure you're right about the plateau. I'm just not sure how to get off of it.:?: Maybe just maybe those tapes I ordered will do the trick. At least it will be some variety to my activities.

Reina, I think you deserve the "queen of exercise" award this week. :queen: Getting up that early and actually driving somewhere to exercise? I'm impressed! That one lb will be gone in no time I bet. As far as the weather, it's really cloudy but not raining at the moment. Thunderstorm warning in effect but not tornado one yet. So far, all of them have missed us. We heard that one was sited about 30 miles from here earlier today but that's the closest one.

Lisa and Taiwan....how are ya'll doing? We miss you both.

Well, we had a bake sale at work today to benefit the Am Cancer Society so I cant say that I didnt so some cheating today.:^: I just had to buy the "peaches and cream" pie and it was really good! It was for a good cause, right??:s: I know, I know...I could have just made a donation or just let the family have it, but I just couldnt. I did walk 2 and a half miles this afternoon after work tho so maybe that helped burn a little of the pie. I had Subway for lunch and tonite had stir fry. Oh, and we made $400.00 from the sale.

Have a good nite everyone and tomorrow before I eat anything, I'll be sure to think of the 'chicks'..lol

Miki

Greetings to all

Well, I decided to weigh in. I wasn't going to this week thanks to being that TOM. BUT I did anyway and I am down another pound!!!! YES, 188lbs. I have noticed some clothes also fit. I haven't been strict with my eating and really need to be. I have been walking more now that my friend lives just a 7.5min walk away:D We are going out today so I can show her around town, so we will be walking too. Maybe I should start swimming---hhmmmmm!!! I really want to be at least 183lbs if not less by Josiah's 1st birthday. I was 185lbs on my first prenatal visit. So that would be great to be below that by his first birthday.

Lady, I only ate once after 8pm last week. Sunday wasn't good, but Monday I didn't eat after 8pm. Hey all, I have been drinking at least 72oz of water, I know that is helping with the weight.

Well, I need to help a former English student with some things and my friend and I are having a day out today. Oh, my house is quiet again. The 2 emergency placements are at their new house and the 16yr old that wanted to move back, left. We didn't give her enough freedom I guess. Plus when I told her she was making me feel like she was taking advantage of us (long story, but she knows we have more money than her dad who has none!!), she says I hurt her feelings (maybe she was upset that I caught on??). Anyway, her decision to leave, we won't allow her back, we will focus on others who need and really want help. So we are back to our 14yr old and our boys. Quiet.

Talk to you all later. Sorry I can't post to everyone individually, will try later.

Deana

Lisathemommy 05-06-2003 04:31 PM

Good afternoon ladies. How is everyone. I'll tell you now that I didn't even try to catch up on all the posts. I'm just going to try to jump right in where we're at.

I've missed you all. I've been so busy with school and the rest of life. School has been great. I have a B and I'm okay with that. Next monday is Finals. I'm planning on staying in a hotel this weekend so I can study. I get so distracted at home.

I finally joined the YMCA. It's so expensive, but worth it. I've been working with a trainer. I've lost 5 pounds. I was up to 193!! So, anyway I've also changed my eating habits. I'm eating more healthy and fewer calories. For lunch today I had some soup and a salad. YUMMY. For a snack I had a strawberry smoothie drink (0 fat) and a banana. I stocked up my kitchen with good stuff.

Well, anyway, I will definitely start to post more once finals are over. oh yeah...next Tuesday I "get" to have a colonoscopy! YIPPEE!!:?:

See ya later!
Lisa

Hi,

On the back of the stawberry special k cereal they had a list of things to help you lose weight..I decided to modifyy it a bit and make it into my ten commandments to try to stick to every week.

1. Thou shall not eat out of a container
2. Thou shall not binge
3. thou shall not eat after 8p.m,
4. Thou shall try to do at least three physical chores a day and reap the double rewards
5. thou shall plan my meals ahead
6. thou shall avoid temptation..limit high-fat snack food
7. thou shall graze throughout the day...eat breakfast, lunch snacks and dinner
8. thou shall not get depressed if I gain a pound or two
9. thou shall try to walk as much as possible
10. Thou shall post here
