Morning all,
back in the office and wondering what I am doing here. Should still be at home having time off, I am sure Not much to report here. Still just the same as ever. Nothing new, more whinging and people being put off. Happy - Sparkie or sparky = electrician. We might set up some flashing neons and sparkles and pretend we are in Vegas rather than my back yard for Annies wedding. Drat - here come the 20 questions again. Back later |

HELLO KIDDOS. REALLY BAD NIGHT. TOSSED & TURNED & SHOULDER PAIN. GOING TO BE A DO NOTHING DAY FOR MELLIE TODAY. JOHN CALLED LAST NIGHT AND SAID THE DRAMA IS WORSE HERE. :lol3: I TOLD HIM IT SOUNDS WORSE BECAUSE HE HAS BEEN GONE SO LONG!!! HE ALSO SAID I LOOKED BETTER LAST TIME WE MET. HE COULD BE RIGHT. MAYBE I AM PUSHING THE ENVELOPE A BIT MUCH. EITHER WAY, I AM HAVING A MELIDAY:beach: HAPPY....JOHN REMINDS ME OF YOU TWO SELLING THE HOUSE. HE IS GOING FOR A LOWER PRICE TOO JUST TO GET OUT OF HERE. BUT THE WIFE IS IN FINANCES AND SHE'S NOT SURPRISED. MAIN REASON IS THEY REALLY LET THE HOUSE GO WITH REPAIRS AND NOW THEY HAVE TO MAKE SOME TO GET THRU THE RE-INSPECTION!!!:faint: THEN THEY WILL BE OFF TO FLORIDA ONE DAY. I KNOW A BUILDING FULL OF PEOPLE HERE THAT VOTE AGAINST ANY RAISES IN TAXES. SAD. THEY THINK THAT LIFE IS FREE!! HAVE YOU WORKED ON YOUR "CRAFT CENTER" YET?? I REMEMBER THE PICTURES AND THAT HOUSE IS GORGEOUS INSIDE. ANNIE....WHEN I AM RICH YOU CAN BE MY CHEF:hun: SHAD.....HOPE YOU MADE IT THRU THE 20 QUESTIONS. FOR SOME REASON I THOUGHT THIS JOB WAS OVER:dizzy: I GET SO CONFUSED LATELY  I KEEP TELLING JEN TO HAVE PATIENCE! HAVE A GOOD WEEK:hug: |
I'M WALKING ON SUNSHINE...whoa oh....and don't it feel good....
Today is 75 and sunny in Indy...rain north, but not here. Curtis and his brother went fishing today on their day off. He was like a little kid at Christmas getting ready to go this morning. His brother showed up precisely at 6 am. I packed them leftovers from last night for their lunches and away they went....too cute! MELLIE...I warned you about doing too much too early...I am seriously coming to whack you with the rolling pin. I will be your chef and work for hugs instead of bucks.... SHADDIE...I thought the job was over also. I must be reading between the lines or something. As far as the other job goes and the traveling, just have to weigh out what you really want from that position. Having a grandbaby and being around "it" is such a joy<---no pun intended. You may just want to take the job for the bennies. Hey to all my sweet Worldlie sisters! Hugs. |
Good morning ladies -
Another busy day ahead full of meetings and being assigned more tasks. :woohoo: I'm glad about this...even if it means putting in extra hours. DH is feeling a little bit better. He's able to be up and around a little more, and he's not coughing as much. He still gets winded and tired very easily, which frustrates him. **************** Patty - I can't even imagine that many VMs everyday!! I don't get too many calls, thankfully; and therefore, very few voicemails. I do get a lot of emails though, so when I'm out there's lots of catching up to do. Mel - 27 degrees!! :brr: I would've stayed in bed too! After a chilly morning yesterday, we warmed up to the mid 60s. This morning started warmer..but really windy. I hope the wind calms down by this evening as I have to put the garbage/recycling out, and I don't want our recycled stuff blowing all over the neighborhood. I honestly don't mind there being lots of my plate when it comes to work. I'm with you about the TV Land channel...always good to watch. As for you, young lady...okay, if you can't let Jen know when you're going to the apartment of a tenant who may have dementia...at least be careful. We don't want anything to happen to our Mel. OUCH! I just read your post about the shoulder pain! Can you take something for it? Or does using ice or heat help? I'm glad you're taking a Meliday. :) Happy - The developer's job on the web team fell through, and not sure if I'll get my director's permission to apply for the job with the reporting group. So yes, unfortunately I am in limbo for now. I'm not going to stress about it...as long as I have a job and they keep paying me, I'm happy. And if there's any other outcome, I'll address that if it happens. We get raccoons, possums, squirrels and chipmunks in the yard, and DH has even seen a flying squirrel the past couple days. The dogs have a blast running around the yard barking at the squirrels as they jump from tree to tree. So many people in this area (southeastern WI) are against raising any kind of taxes or fees. They need to understand that the infrastructure, schools, etc. need to get their money from somewhere. Heck, DH and I don't have kids, but we ALWAYS vote in favor of anything that will help the schools, and the community as a whole. Shad - I keep forgetting to mention that there was an article in the Milwaukee newspaper a week or so ago about a horrible Marmite shortage in New Zealand. In the article, it says that marmite is like the Australian vegemite. Is it truly the breakfast staple that they say it is? Annie - Your dinner last night sounds so yummy! How nice that Curtis and his brother went fishing today!! DH can't wait until he feels up to going fishing. Hopefully in another month or so. I hope the rain stays away so you can enjoy the lovely weather. to Ceejay and Mary! Gotta go prep for a meeting. Much love and many hugs, |
Morning all.
We had the ribs last night and they were meaty and delicious. Full day today. Suddenly it is the end of the quarter and I have to get started on my quarter-end work. Along with a jillion other things. This is not the time to be getting one of those "hormone headaches" but I have one. Hope the Excedrin Migraine kicks in soon. Took the last two pills in the bottle. Need to get another one for my backpack - don't leave home without it! :nono: Will skip personals today (except to wonder where Ceejay is these days) and get back to it. Everyone have a pleasant day. |
Good morning ladies,
We are back to what I guess is typical spring weather here - gray, gloomy and in the 50's. Last night it was rather warm - mid 60's temps - the house was actually warm for sleeping so I opened up some windows and the patio door and hoped no critters would think I was inviting them in  I wish it would get just a bit warmer, am anxious for spring already. Gotta start getting serious with my planning if I want a garden this year. DH put my spice racks up yesterday so now I have to go through 100 bottles and decide what I want to keep and what gets pitched because it's old - can't keep it all. I bought some bedding items from Kohl's and they are breaking it up into 5 separate shipments which is going to cause DH to give me the raised eyebrow look thinking I went on a spending spree but not so - we have 2 twin extra long beds now and I have no bedding for that. We needed lighter weight blankets and I like dust ruffles on the box spring - think it looks better than the bare mattress. I wound up buying 2 lightweight comforter sets. Kohl's had these great soft and comfy fleece pjs this winter - I got 2 sets and one for my sister. We both liked them but noticed they have this awful chemical smell to them that you can't seem to get out. I washed them 4 times, left them outside on the porch for an entire week (where they got snowed on more than once  ) and tho the smell diminished, it never went away entirely. As I was looking for blankets online I always read the reviews. Several of the blankets I was interested in talked about having a chemical smell so I was afraid to get them. Most stuff now is made in China - hard to find things that aren't and with some of the reports of really bad stuff found in their products, I am particularly nervous about anything that smells strongly of chemicals. So I hope the mattress pad and comforter sets are ok. :^: Mel - I am sorry to hear about your shoulder. It seems to me that there are little signs - all around you but quietly tapping you on the sore shoulder telling you to slow down and back off. I hope you are listening as we certainly don't want to see you get laid up again. I hope you enjoy your Meliday - what's on the agenda? I understand about John and the house - 2 huge issues I see with people today - mistakes that can really affect their future - 1) is that they did not keep up with repairs and updates in their homes such that when they want to sell they have to put alot of money - money they resent spending for someone else or money they don't have - into the house to get it attractive to sell. DH hung a few pictures yesterday and we were commenting about how this house could really use a good interior paint job. We had to spend $3,000 getting the wallpaper taken down and having the whole TN house repainted when we sure would have liked to spend that money on this house instead. :( The other mistake I think people make is not saving. That's not to say that there aren't legitimate circumstances in which there simply is no money to be saved but moreso I see people who take their money and give it to their grown children every time they hit a bump or they keep spending thinking they will always have a job. It's an ugly world out there and you have to remember, the only one who's going to take care of you is YOU. It's very hard to deal with being out of work and not being able to find a job because of your age, misperceptions and politics. Anyway, see things with a different pair of eyes and would counsel people quite differently than the accepted norm today. As for John - it depends on what price he wants for his house - sometimes you can find a buyer, it might just take a couple of years and during that time more things get old and need replacing and fixing and you continue to spend money on taxes, insurance and upkeep so are you saving that much holding out for a couple of thousand more in the selling price? Laura - hope the headache eases up - perhaps the hustle bustle of quarter end will make you forget your head hurts. Did you finish that software implementation? Michelle - bummer on the job. Glad you are busy. Make yourself as useful as possible and let them KNOW you are the go to girl. I wish they would recognize that on their own ;) Tell them if they ditch you I will find another store to shop at and my family buys alot at Kohl's  You and I have very similar political beliefs - I'm glad to know there's at least another couple in this state that feel the way I do :D although outside of the occasional recall Walker / Walker is Good for WI - people seem to keep their political views mostly to themselves. Thank goodness  ;) Annie - Walking on Sunshine - great song - you just can't help getting a pep in your step with that one  I'm glad your town has it's turn at having the sun today - can you pass that big hot yellow ball up this way tomorrow? ;) Reading about Curtis going fishing gave me a flash in the head of the opening of the Andy Griffith show (complete with the whistling theme song) as Andy and Opie trot down the road with their fishing poles. Ain't nuttin better than fishin' paw. Maybe we'd all get along better if we fished more and bittchhed less. :D Shad - did you come back to work early or are you saying you'd rather still be at home? Thanks for the sparky explanation - makes sense - although obvious I still can't figure it out without help :^: and you're right - someone has to fill the yard with all those tiny white lights on a string. Can't let ordinary men do it as they don't believe no matter how many times you tell them that you can only plug in a maximum of 3 sets of lights end to end without blowing the whole line out! Well I have things to go through, pack and sort and put away so let me get busy. Have a good hump day ladies - don't forget to put out the trash. Unless your trash day was Monday like us in which case I hope it doesn't get too warm at your house. |

Ouch on the sore shoulder. I'm glad you are taking it easy today. And yeah for the govenrment offiicial. Good for Jen in passing her recertification on the heat. :woohoo: I've checked the place where the birds built a nest last year and I found a couple of eggs. Not sure if it's a pigeon, black bird or dove. Doves' built there last year. Michelle Glad the dh is feeling some better. Happy You sound more busy than when you were packing. Don't you love to have the freedom do to what ever-when ever. Annie We are having a good weather day also. I've even been outside a bit this afternoon. If it's not raining tomorrow I'll definitely be outside. Laura Sorry about the headaches. Feel better soon. Shad I told my uncle that I was going to predict the weather by how your summer was. Hope work isn't to bad today. _________ Not much going on. Had our insurance meeting yesterday morning that took up an hour of my time-- Mayor was there politicing also. Had to call to get the cut off list over here after 5 p.m. and it's as thick as a phone book. Yesterday afternoon was a busy day. So far it's quiet, shhhh. The doctor's office hasn't called about the last test so I'm assuming that all was good. |
Happy, healthy, positive thoughts and dreams to everyone on Thursday/night....xoxo...just thought I would shout that out to you all....chat later.

GOOD HOROSCOPE!! I DO THAT EVERY MORNING:sunny: HAPPY THOUGHTS BACK TO YA! |
Mel
I have been busier than normal. Annie Thanks for sharing the horoscope. To me it was a bit muggy when I went outside. But supposed to be a good week end. I'm not complaining about the weather at all. ------- I'm waiting on the washer to get done so I can go talk to Human Resources. I want to change my insurance plan if possible. The door bell rang earlier this morning and there stood my boss with a check in hand. I was a bit flustered and asked what this was. He grinned and said it was sell back for vacation time etc. That was unexpected. More money for vacation to the Smokey Mts. |
Morning all. Bright and sunny, but chilly today. More Chicago in springtime weather. :D :sunny:
Shad – So what are you doing in the office? Where did we all get the idea you were done with this assignment? When does it end? Mel – Is your shoulder feeling better today? I hope John gets through the home sale without too huge of a cash outlay for repairs… Yay for you and Jen getting your respective re-certs done!!! :yay: Hope it’s a long looong time before it needs to happen again. No hot water??!!!?? I hope they get that resolved soon. Anything beyond a few hours becomes a major PITA! Annie – Walking on sunshine - okay, I like the image it presents, but, really, I just can’t stand that song. I’m not asking for it to be banished from this thread, but just thought I’d vent, lol. So did Curtis bring home any fish for dinner? (Already cleaned and ready to cook, of course!!) If so, I’m sure you did something fabulous with them. Michelle – I’m so glad you’re being kept busy and therefore gainfully employed! When's your review? I thought you already had it... Good to hear dh is getting impatient to be up and about. That’s a sure sign he’s feeling better – just ask Mel!! :D Marmite, haha. I remember I brought back a little packet of Vegemite when I was in Aus – the kind you get in a restaurant. Still sitting on display with my tin Ponderosa cup (from a long ago visit to the Ponderosa ranch in the Tahoe area - my sasparilla was served in it!) and various and sundry teapots. Happy – It seems like buying any kind of textile today is a crap shoot. The fabric is treated to look so nice for sale, but it’s anyone’s guess how it’ll look after it’s washed. And that’s just appearance, let alone the chemicals used to make it look that way. Wonder how long it takes to get rid of them? Personally, I’m suspicious of those “wrinkle resistant” shirts, blouses, chinos, etc. that are on the market, especially since those chemicals that help keep the wrinkles away are intended to be in the fabric for a long time. Worse still is what might be in our food! I like to think that the dog food brand I buy is better than the low end stuff, but I honestly don’t know. No, the software implementation is NOT done. The conversion of data from the old software, and that of our 3rd party vendors is done, so that’s good. But there’s a long list of remaining items. It'll be a while before we're "done" and even after that will be the usual tweaking and enhancements. Not one, but both of our main project members had babies within a month of each other, and it wouldn’t have been too bad if the 2nd one’s wife hadn’t had complications that caused him to have limited availability that was communicated very poorly to us. That whole situation came to a head when the boss decided to mention it to one of the bigwigs at the software co. I wouldn’t have done it that way, but now it’s done and the guy who e-mailed that he was "on leave" a couple days ago is suddenly not "on leave" anymore. Whatever. Enough drama, get the work done. Don't care who does it as long as it's done correctly. Ceejay – So you’re shutting off the water for a lot of people? That’s sad to think about. Hopefully you also get a lot of “turn back on” orders as well! And to think bf and I were just joking last night that doggy was drinking us out of house and home and that bf and I and our neighbors wouldn’t get any water when we turned on our taps. Coal’s always been a big water-slurping dog. :D What a nice surprise to get an unexpected check! Nice to be able to put that away for your vacation! Hellos to Patty & Mary. :sunny:  -- Pretty full day yesterday, and more of the same today. The Excedrin quickly zapped my headache yesterday. Before I even realized it, it was gone. :D Brought a sandwich to work and ate it outside yesterday. Not quite nice enough for me to do that today, but that's okay. Well, yesterday afternoon I dropped my ancient plastic insulated mug full of cold water and the lid - very brittle by now - shattered in a couple spots, rendering it nearly useless. I’ll have to scrounge at home and see if I have any insulated/ lidded cups that will suffice. Otherwise I’ll shop for a new one. I don’t see the same type available on the mfr’s site. What a surprise – I think this mug is at least 9-10 years old!! Many are stainless steel with plastic lids. Not sure I'm too keen on the steel. Pilates was fine. I think this set of classes is only six weeks total, so I’m already halfway through it! Tuesday night I did a Margaret Richard workout, but just a short one – warm-up, cool-down, and routines for hamstrings, quads, biceps and shoulders. Some people have posted to the FB page that the segments on this dvd are kind of goofy – each one doesn’t have its own warm-up and cool-down, etc., but it doesn’t bug me. The way the dvd is set up - all routines are chaptered separately - you can jump to whatever routines you feel like doing. Back to work!! Sure wish it was Friday by now. :halfempty |
