Thank you everyone for keeping my boys close to your hearts. For right now, no news is good news!
My high school friend lives in Tyler, Texas. Her niece is getting married this summer about 50 miles from here. We are hoping to be able to get together then.

Debbie, what did you have done to your hair? I know it looks great!

As for American Idol, I never watched it last year, but I happened across it this year and now I'm hooked. I watched the good, bad, and ugly outtakes Wednesday night. How embarrassing!! I felt so bad for some of them that I had to turn the channel until they finished. The last one was especially painful to watch.....the boy who sang Madonna's "Like a Virgin". OH MY!!!!

I feel so sad for all the people killed and injured in that nightclub fire last evening. It was just horrific.

BTW.....I'm saying a special prayer of thanks that no one tried to sell me any Girl Scout cookies this year! I am a thin mint junkie!!

Ramona: No wonder the guy sang "like a virgin" with a voice and personality like his, I'm sure no one will get close to him! I personally liked the clean cut kid with dark hair, I forgot his name. Hurcules was a little "fruity" but could really sing good. Again, only my own personal opinion..... I have a friend from Tyler Texas, she lives away from there now in Oklahoma, but her family is still there.

Dee: I'm glad to hear that Dez visited with you and that she had a Doctors appt. I hope all works out well, I can only begin to imagine how you must feel, to know your child is having problems and not to be able to "fix" them.

I just read that the young transplant girl is now having swelling of the brain. They said it is life threatening.

Did you guys watch the new surviver?????? Talk about putting a group of PMSing women together!

Here is something a friend sent me today and I wanted to share it with all of you.........

I have in my hands two boxes Which God gave me to hold.
He said, "Put all your sorrows in the black box,
And all your joys in the gold."

I heeded His words, and in the two boxes
Both my joys and sorrows I stored.
But though the gold became heavier each day
The black was as light as before.

With curiosity, I opened the black,

I showed the hole to God, and mused,

I consider all of my friends a blessing.

Ramona: I agree about the girl scout cookies. They are good, but were sure getting pricey and did nothing for weight loss. Of course, all the other things that someone was always trying to sell didn't help either: lets see there was popcorn, pizza, candy. I seem to remember when I was in girl scouts, we sold something else during the year too.

Gayle: The last report on the gal from Mexico didn't appear to be good. I've not heard in a couple of hours. So far I've avoided the Survivor, Fear Factor etc. stuff. Joe Millionaire and the Bachlorette was all the trap for me.

Sherry: Changing the machines so often is what bothered me. I guess I would have liked it better if you'd only do each one once, instead of twice. And I thought I heard somewhere that it may even be 3. I wonder if they are all the same. I reread your message and realized that you said that you changed machines every 4-5 minutes. Where I went I think it was every minute. I thought that was even dangerous especially for older women, and one that was there was in her 80's. The music was fine and not having men there was okay too.

To everyone else, have a great weekend. I've heard we may get more snow. The only good part is I may be able to catch more people home. I "only" have 74 phone calls to make for the political campaign I'm working with. The lady Candy is running for city alderperson. I went to her fundraiser last night and it was actually fun. Her family is so nice and sound as if they have a lot of fun together. I worked with her sister Pat at the table where people paid their money. There were several local biggies that came in including the mayor, the head honcho for county republicans.

In the meantime, the latest in the mayor's race (the current one is not running) is one of the candidates found out this week that he hadn't graduated from college. He thought he had, but someone "accidentally" checked into it and discovered he had 2 "incompletes" on his record so is 8 credits short. It may be nothing more than an instructor neglecting to correct paperwork. I talked with a gal that used to teach at the local junior college and she said it was a nightmare for the instructor getting those records fixed. In the mayor candidate's case it's been 20 years or more, so he may be just out of luck. Of course, the locals are making that the #1 campaign issue this week instead of which one can actually do something for the city. Oh, the love of politics, particularly in Illinois. We also have probably the only governor in the country who makes headlines by coming to the capitol city. He prefers to be in Chicago and doesn't want to live in the governor's mansion. Didn't he know where the capitol was before he ran for office???

PS. This is actually the 5 o'clock update. The girl with the heart lung transplant name is Jessica. They are now concerned that she has brain damage, possible irreversible, from fluid on the brain. Prayers are definitely needed.

It sounds like if young Jessica lives, she will be on life support or live life out with severe brain damage. How horrible for everyone involved. I keep thinking, what if this was me and my daughter....

Worked on the "Frugal mud puddle" today, finally got the hole dug deep enough, now to place the liner and start hauling in the rock. Hubby will be out of town over the next few weeks, so I probably will not get that much done.

im in anouther group and one of the gals had a urgent prayer reqeust.
her son had went to the niteclub and she hasnt heard from him yet.
i couldnt imagine what this womans going thru watching the totals going up like that.


the transplant girl now thats crushing.
severe brain damage.
so very sad.


ok im a survivor addict bad!
im not used to all there names yet but im sure the deaf girl will go next.
making to many waves to early in the game.
hard to believe theres no shelter or nothing.
there gonna be helpless by the time they merge.

Today is the day I start journaling again. I've got to get off at least 3 lbs. I can't stand this!! Wish me luck!!

You will do fine Shelley. Journaling is the key. I know if I journal it makes me accountable for what I put in my mouth. Think how far you have come and feel good about yourself.

I'm on my way after work to get a perm....haven't had one is several years. Hopefully I won't be the queen of frizz when it's over! LOL

Kinda of down in the dumps today.Not feeling too well. :( I thought 4 days ago that I pulled a muscle somehow in the UPPER side of my back.When I move a certain way, pain shoots down the side towards my stomach.I thought if it were a pulled muscle, it would have worked it's way out by now.But I think it's gotten worse.Oh well, If not better by Monday, guess I'll have it checked out.

Hi Everyone.

I heard over the radio that Jessica is brain dead. How sad! It appears her chances were slim to none going into the 2nd surgery. Tonight I am feeling for the patient (and family) that would have gotten these organs and maybe had a real chance, but because of circumstance, they went to Jessica instead. I also feel for the doctor who is being blamed for the mistake. He didn't do it on purpose and it's something he will have to live with.

On lighter note, they are trying to come up with a Joe Millionaire 2. That could be cool. Don't forget Monday is the night we find out whether he and Zora are still together.

Doni, don't be mad, but we were suppose to get part of your snow, and just sent it on your way. How close are you to Indy?

Doni-It's in the 80's here!! I am having to get used to running in the hot muggy weather again. It was so nice when it was cold for awhile.

My electricity was out from 1:30-4:45 today. It was out when I got home from Walmart, having just bought popsicles. Wouldn't you know it?? It's very boring when the elec. is out!!

I have been a good girl today so far. I have journaled everything!! The hardest part is night, as usual. I am going to try to just have a couple of popscicles after dinner.

Silly little Shelley! 80's you say????? We are in the 20's with a winter storm warning, all heck is to turn loose tonight.

Sher: If your not better Monday, maybe you should see your doc. I read that a gallbladder attack will start in your back or side and work around to the tummy. I hope your feeling better?

Doni, I was in Indy last fall for a Titan football game. I have a friend that lives there and a cousin nearby, can't remember the town. He came down and we went out to dinner. He also took me for a driving tour of the town. I think he was as lost as I was.

To everyone, in case you haven't heard, Jessica (teen with transplant) has died.

Titan Fan: It was calendars we sold in Girl Scouts. I remember those sold pretty quick, but we were only asked to sell five.

Shelley: Your late-night eating might be a result of some latent stress or boredom. When you journal, keep track of how you felt when you ate as well. I guarantee you'll see a pattern.

Everyone Else: Hubby and I went to the casinos on Friday night. I won $112 on the quarter slots! :cb: I only spent about $20 to get it. That's the most I've ever won, so I stopped there. Of course, I celebrated at the all you can eat seafood buffet. :ink:

Jennelle, somehow I thought we'd also sold nuts. I don't remember the calendars at all. Great on the casinso. Were you in Tunica, if so which one???

To all the Bachelorette fans, Trista and Ryan were on ESPN radio earlier today. Did you know Ryan was a very good football player in college, drafted but didn't stick with the NFL, but did play in Canada. He said he would be interested and Trista said she would support him. Wonder if we can get him on the Titans!!! Wouldn't that be too cool!

Dee...I was in Tunica, at the Horseshoe. (They have the best buffett.)

Hello girls!!!!!

Old man winter blasted by and left 12" of the white stuff!!!! We had horrible winds, creating a horrible winter storm with high drifts. On top of that, I had to send my hubby off for most of the week. So here I sit with two kids and snowed in!!!!! Shelley, I SOOOOOOO want to move to Florida!!!!!!!!

Gayle I am with you.....Shelley can we come? It is -45 f out this morning and I am going for a walk. Crazy but I just can't stay in all day. Frostbite warnings in effect. Got to dress warm, I am going to feel 50 pounds heavier just by all the extra clothing. Do you think that counts as weight lifting?
Well going to face the cold....bbbrrrr.

I have over 50 pounds to lose and am struggling very badly. I am finally going to the Dr next week to find out of I have a thyroid problem or not. I mean my kitchen cabinets look like old mother hubbard went to the cubboard and it was bare. I keep it that way to avoid any and all temptation.

I have lost a little over 50 pounds in the years that I have been here, I have back-slid too...but all in all, this site really helps to keep things in perspective.

Jennelle: I spent one day in Tunica, about a year ago. Somehow, I managed to at least go in every casino. Naturally I'm not that big of a gambler. I remember that one of the places had a Corkey's Barbecue and think it was buffet, but I was too full to eat then, and line was rather long.

Is anyone making predictions about Joe Millionaire tonight? I understand that some of the girls he rejected will be back. Also, our TV Guide shows that the other station is replaying last Wednesday's episode of Bachelorette as if there is anywho who cares but doesn't know who she picked.

Hrhhyacinth, I'd like to add my welcome. You will find this to be a great group, even though some of us are very jealous --- now admit it, gals, all of us in this cold country are wanting some Florida weather.

I can't top the -45 degrees or the 12 inches of snow, but am sure ready for some warmer weather. Heck, if it only warm up so I could wash the truck without everything freezing, I'd be a happy camper (or truck driver).

Mmmmm, got to love it. I am eating a low fat blueberry bran muffin topped with blueberry brummel and brown, with a diet hot chocolate all on program and I feel like I am cheating. Got to love weight watchers because of the choices you have.

The perm went pretty well. She used the largest rods she had so I would have lots of body without curl. My hair "takes" a perm really, really well though, so if I don't use hot rollers, it looks like a spiral perm! Kinda neat though. I may just let it go wild tomorrow since we are supposed to get MORE snow! This is crazy. We hardly get any snow and this will be our third one!

Sherry, you made me laugh about all of us wanting the hair we don't have. You are soooooo right though!!
I'll try and post a picture as soon I get a few of these pounds off.....don't want to break the camera!!!!!

Did you all watch the Grammys? I watched off and on. Being a country music and soft rock fan, some of it was a little on the wild side for me!! At least the Chicks won a couple.

Deb & Jeanne: Have you guys heard of protein power??? Alot like Atkins but maybe not as restrictive. I am thinking of starting it. The just is very low carbs with high proteins, hardly no fruit but you still get veggies. Deb, how many carbs do you limit yourself to a day? BTW: I want your NEW STOVE!!!! I have an old gas stove that has seen better days! I would love a smooth top one!!
