I do a journal daily, then once a week I enter it into Fitday to see how I did. It gives me a breakdown of calories, protein, fat, carbs and also individual nutrients if interested. My journal also includes my morning and evening blood pressure, blood glucose and weight. On Fitday, I have my starting and periodic measurements. I got this idea from someone on another board who was able to go back and see what she weighed 3 years ago, to the day. I know this is obsessive, but I like doing this, and it challenges me to keep my readings in line. Also, with my medical problems, it's important for me to know if there are any sudden changes in my weight and especially my blood pressure readings.

I am in a monthly exercise challenge and I also record daily how many minutes I exercised.

I think it would be better if I used Fitday to plan my meals rather than recording them after the fact. That way, if I followed my plan I would be staying on program rather than finding out afterwards where I went wrong. But I don't think that far ahead to plan what I'm going to eat throughout the day. A lot has to do with what DH wants to do....if we eat out or if I cook.

Hi BFC chicks,

I haven't had a loss for several days, but I've been staying on plan and my clothes are fitting better, so I'm due for a drop!

I've been making tuna salad for lunch (lots of lettuce, celery, 1 HB egg, tuna and Miracle Whip) and it's been very satisfying as there's lots chewing. It's an easy way to get in protein and I like tuna anyway.

I've been stressed as my car has had issues and I may have to buy a new one. :( I'm going to see if the transmission place can give me a discount on fixing the old girl. Hate to see it go as it's great for moving kids and hauling.

Have a good day!

Oh boy! A car is such a big investment in this day and age. Hopefully you can get it fixed for a reasonable price and get a few more years out of it.

I love tuna salad also but for some reason I don't think of making it often. I have heard so much about mercury and I don't know how much tunayou have to eat to need to worry about the mercury. Do you know?

I also want to ask my Cardiologist about HB eggs. I love them and they were very helpful when I lost before. My husband gets on my case when I eat them because of the cholesterol, but my cholesterol is very good, being controlled with meds, and I have heard so often that the cholesterol that is produced by your body is much more of a problem than the cholesterol that comes from the foods we eat. I don't think I eat any other high cholesterol foods, and I would really like to include eggs. They would help with my diabetes, too. Sometimes I buy Egg Beaters, but you can't hard boil them. Every time I eat an egg DH says "You just blocked another artery!". LOL

Eggs have had a bad rap that is just not true:

Eggs
The bad rap: A significant source of dietary cholesterol, egg yolks are off-limits for those concerned about heart health.

The good news: Medical experts now emphasize that saturated fats and trans fats are bigger culprits in raising blood cholesterol than dietary cholesterol is. Plus, eggs are super-satisfying: in one study, people who ate a scrambled-egg-and-toast breakfast felt more satisfied, and ate less at lunch, than they did when they ate a bagel that had the same number of calories. Egg yolks contain lutein and zeaxanthin, compounds that research links with reduced risk for age-related macular degeneration (AMD), the leading cause of blindness in people over 50.

I love eggs and have 1-2 daily. :)

Good morning Everyone,

Congrats webwoman on your success! Any lose big or small is an awsome thing. Think what one pound of fat looks like. I have noticed that I am not losing as much as before, but inches are coming off. I tried on pants that were tight on me just last month and I have olenty of room in them. It makes you feel so good!
Now for the eggs, I eat them every day and they are good for you. It how you prepare them. Well, got to get going. Have a great day.

I love eggs and I want to eat them, and truthfully, I was a lot thinner when I ate what I like and what I wanted instead of following the dietary guidelines I've been told are good for me. I think that's because eating what I wanted satisfied me and I wasn't overeating.

Funny story...last summer I got really hungry for cucumbers. I bought one from the store and then my step-daughter gave me some from her garden, so I ate a lot of cucumbers that week. By the end of the week, I was having shortness of breath. Because of my known heart problems, I contacted my cardiologist, and long story short, I ended up in the hospital getting a stent. My husband said "No more cucumbers for you.". LOL As if cucumbers caused the blockage! To this day, he picks all the cucumbers out of his salads!

Tell your DH to eat MORE cucumbers, as they are truly healthy for you:

"Researchers have long been familiar with the presence of unique polyphenols in plants called lignans, and these health-benefiting substances have been studied extensively in cruciferous vegetables (like broccoli or cabbage) and allium vegetables (like onion or garlic). Recent studies, however, have begun to pay more attention to the lignan content of other vegetables, including cucumbers. Cucumbers are now known to contain lariciresinol, pinoresinol, and secoisolariciresinol--three lignans that have a strong history of research in connection with reduced risk of cardiovascular disease as well as several cancer types, including breast, uterine, ovarian, and prostate cancers.
Fresh extracts from cucumbers have recently been show to have both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. While research in this area must still be considered preliminary--since it's only been conducted on animals in a lab setting--the findings are clear and consistent. Substances in fresh cucumber extracts help scavenge free radicals, help improve antioxidant status, inhibit the activity of pro-inflammatory enzymes like cyclo-oxygenase 2 (COX-2), and prevent overproduction of nitric oxide in situations where it could pose health risks."
