Good morning too yous,

Quick post for me as I don't want to spend all morning on the computer. I have alot to get done in 4 days. Spent part of this morning picking out a paint color for the kitchen. I wanted to go gray (which unbeknownst to me is the latest edgy color for kitchens) and DH wanted tan. Thank goodness for paint companies that let you look at colors online. I am not crazy about it, but agreed to go with tan in the end. So that took up a good hour of discussion. As for my job - it is being eliminated but not at the moment as they are trying to give me as much time as possible to find something else. So while that is a good thing, I also have to come in each day with the sword over my head, trying to stay busy and positive while constantly searching and networking for something. It is very stressful. And boring as I have nothing but the most minimal of work to make the day go by. There is a focus on other priorities and since I am not anticipated to be there, I am not a part of what is going on even though with my experience, I could be a big help. I have offered help, that's all I can do.

Laura - you are doing such a good job on the exercise. Making good use of the exercise pass trying different classes. Good for you. I have always felt sorry for the animals when they get panicked. Their instincts are to run or hide and they don't understand that they are safe with us. You guys seem to be getting alot of rain this summer - the storms seem to be concentrated up your way.

Annie - please don't give up on things. Remember that you will have a new grandchild in a few months that you can squeeze and hug and love it to bits even if his Momma has grown a few wild hairs at the moment  I agree with Michelle - DS will have access to good medical care and hopefully get a second opinion. The outcome may not be as bad or can be minimalized :crossed: I am not going to tell you to keep your chin up but be happy to take out your sadness on a soft tissue and your frustration on a pillow or two. big hugs to you my friend

Michelle - sorry you aren't feeling well. I think this overly hot and wet summer is getting to everyone. Ginger ale and sinus pills

Mel - you have to sit in the back of the meeting room with a big watch on and give people the slash across the throat and keep pointing to the watch when it's time to cut off the blabbers  Hope your meeting goes quickly. Good for you for staying quiet like you should. Thanks for your good thoughts.

Shad - so sorry to hear about your tumble. I can imagine the damage that was done :yikes: sometimes we just lose our footing. Stupid bricks! I took your advice and went to bed earlier than usual. Took an allergy pill to give me a deeper sleep but DH said I snored more than usual.

I think I hear DH at the door and I need to get rolling here. Hellos to Ceejay and Ellen

Let's just put one foot in front of the other and get stuff done today. :jig:

diyana 07-28-2011 01:23 PM

Laura - I have heard of Thundershirts but we haven't tried them yet. We get Chamomile dog treats from Dr. Foster and Smith's website. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...fm?pcatid=8098 They help a bit. They also help keep our dog Santa from getting car sick. I worry the most about my dogs when we're not home and the thunder hits or fireworks go off. Body Blast sounds like a fun class. I'm a bit frustrated with doing resistance training classes at the gym because there are so many moves I simply can't do yet. Judging from your photos, you have lovely hair. Definitely not a mop. And since you're getting a haircut, that means you have to post updated photos! :)

Happy - That's nice that your employer is giving you time to find something else. When I worked for a company back in CA and my job was being eliminated (along with hundreds of other employees), the company said that we could utilize HR for networking, interviewing skills practice and resume writing help. I'm glad you got to bed earlier than usual last night. Wishing you a very productive 4 day weekend! Did I miss out on what the Real Estate lady said? What advice did she give?

Laura705 07-28-2011 03:44 PM

Afternoon all.

Shad – Well, you’re sure busy now! I like that – “stay cool, look lively, keep hydrated, work hard and love well.” :) I don’t do much in the way of housework during the week except to do a load of laundry one or two evenings a week so there’s not that much on the weekend. Before dvr’s made it possible to pause and ff, I used to do little tasks during the tv commercial breaks. Not anymore, LOL. Ouch re your brick-hauling incident!! Yes, bf knows loud and clear if I don’t like the handlebars it’ll be back to the drawing board for him.

Mel – Stop talking about power outages – I’m starting to hope we have one here at the office so I can go home, LOL.

Happy – Hope your plan re foregoing the vacation works out for you – is that so you can have more things packed in time for DH to take it up to the house up north? Re the bike parts – it’s not really that complicated, bf is just making it that way. Yesterday I told him I don’t care if the handlebars are shiny or matte finish, just so they're black. So he found a pair of the shiny ones and sold me on them, then suddenly decided to just go with the matte pair and buy the stem to match the size of the handlebars. Oy. Yes, with these past couple storms, doggy alternately tries to hide or, strangely, wants to go outside. Poor baby.

Ceejay – We had another thunderstorm last night and our power blipped off and then on again about 4-5 times. I’m getting really scared that our electrical infrastructure is not going to be able to handle much more demand. Re my water pills – I’ve noticed that my BP top number seems to be going down, but my bottom number is not. I think it’s been about a week. I hope the bottom one goes down too.

Annie – No, as usual, I didn’t set a reminder in my calendar and time got away from me, so I didn’t make the step class. But I got to another class. Good enough. So nice of you to take dinner to dd and family. You’re very understanding re her hormonal moods. But then again you know it’s temporary... just like yours will be during your “change of life”, LOL. Just read your last couple posts. OMG, such bad news from bb – bad, worse & horrible. If he can’t find the dog, I sure hope someone finds her and is taking good care of her. Re his eyes – I certainly hope there’s something to be done to stop or slow whatever that disease is. You definitely need another  Hang in there girl!

Michelle – Sorry that queasiness turned into worse and you’ve missed work and workouts. :( :getwell: I may post new photos, but I’m so undaring with my hair that you won’t see much of a difference in my ‘do, LOL.

Hello Ellen!

Hitting a slump now since my muscles are fatigued. Think I’ll go get some caffeine. :coffee: :coffee2:

Shad 07-28-2011 05:32 PM

Morning all,

Aaaah Friday, luv it, although I guess that Monday will roll around fast as ever.
Have plans for the garden this weekend and may even get even with that brick wall at some stage although there is a lot of prep work to get through before that. There are some pretty horrible weeds popping up as well. Seems that the water in January moved the good bits of my garden down the hill and the bad bits from someone else's garden to my place. I have weeds here I have never seen before.

Anyway better get on with it before the day gets away from me. I have a lot of work to get through today. Back later

ceejay52 07-28-2011 08:01 PM

Took a much needed nap this afternoon.
Also went to the gym this morning and did 30 minutes on the precor bike and 10 minutes on the weight machines.

Annie
I feel your concern for BB. My sister was diagnosed with rhitinispigmentosa (sp) years ago. She's lost a lot of her eye sight but she is a trooper about it.
 As Shad commented he's with the Army now and they really have better hospital's and doctor's.

Happy
Glad you are taking a couple of day's off to do some packing.

Mel
Good for you in keeping it a low key kind of day.

Michelle
I hate stomach viruses. Glad you are feeling better.

Laura
I've been wanting to take either the bp med or the fluid med. I know I need the fluid me especially in this heat. I'll ask my doctor on next visit.

Shad
So the company did not realize that they would have to proof read. I missed how you hurt your leg. Hope it's healing.

Laura705 07-29-2011 10:42 AM

Morning all. TGIF.

Shad - Hope you get a start on the brick wall this weekend so you can start getting even. With all this rain and heat here - while we've been hiding in the AC'd house, I'm sure the weeds are taking over the yard. We'll have to make sure doggy doesn't get lost in them.

Mel - Sorry your meetings were delayed and unproductive. I hate when people aren't respectful of my time. Sometimes it's them not being prepared to discuss the issues at hand, and other times it's them going way off topic. Grrr.

Ceejay - I hope that the one pill is enough to lower my bp and I don't need a higher dose or another med. Another couple weeks will tell I suppose.

Hello to the rest of the Worldlies!

Nothing much to report. Bf dropped me off at the salon yesterday after work and he went off to run errands. My appt went fine. Hair got about 3 inches chopped off. My hair reacts by shrinking up even more because the extra weight is gone, and the humidity isn't helping. This is just "the bad hair summer".

More storms came through and doggy was having a hard time again. Bf was adamant about not using drugs last night to calm him. I got about an hour of sleep before staying up w/ doggy for another couple hours. I probably got about 5 hours altogether, so I'll be hitting a wall later. :coffee: Going to spend some time researching natural remedies to address doggy's anxiety like the one Michelle mentioned, as well as some drops my hair stylist mentioned, and the Thunder Shirt.

Nothing planned tonight. Tomorrow morning is an exercise class. Tomorrow night I'm staying over by my friend's because we're going to see a band playing out by her place.

The boss will be out part of next week, so yay for that. One meeting this afternoon and that's it. Plenty of other stuff on my plate today, so I better get to it. Have a good weekend everyone. :) Any sneaker-inners??

happy2bme 07-29-2011 10:43 AM

Howdy ladies,

Got the master bath all cleaned up, told DH that going forward, THIS is what the vanity will look like - all the time. Use things but put them back when you are done. This morning what do I find on the vanity but the empty bowl and fork from the watermelon he took up last night for a snack  :rollpin: I also started working the upstairs closet. More shirts than I could ever wear but some of them I HATE to give up. I love them more than the cat  Box them up for now. DH worked on the last few accessories for the remodelled downstairs bath (towel ring, robe hook, toilet paper holder) and he put the blind back on the window so that room is all done! Today I finish the upstairs closet and start on the downstairs master bedroom which became a huge dumping ground when I had to clear everything out of the master bath when they ripped the room out to the rafters while at the same time I was transitioning from the winter to summer wardrobe so there are clothes that need to be sorted out. I am making good progress, glad I took these 2 days off, I can focus and get stuff done without freaking or being a crazy woman. One realtor is coming on Tuesday and I told DH I think we should interview another one - perhaps the guy who I spoke to last week who is listing a neighborhood house. We'll get St. Joseph buried in the yard and get that for sale sign up yet!

Mel - I like your graphics too! I can't believe you ate salami     Well ok, I know that sometimes something just looks sooooo good and we don't think about the consequences - I admit, I do the same thing. Sorry you lost out on some precious sleep time because of it. One of the things I like about our town mayor is the fact that she is business with a sense of humor and she is always well versed, prepared and not the fake smile or blowhard that many politicians are. She starts meetings on time and keeps things moving. I would lend her to your folks but people like that don't listen  I think they were asking you at 4pm if you were coming because they were afraid you wouldn't show and then WHO would speak up and look out for the building????? :dunno: Their way of saying they can't live without you :D (or tag - you're IT) Thank you for your good thoughts, I feel them all around  As for the color pallette advice - bah. I think you can't get too wild with colors (seen that) or too bizarre with decorations (we saw a house with an acid washed floor they touted as a big selling point and it looked like something old that had paint spilled on it and was in a very sorry need of a good wash) and I've also seen some houses where they decorated the walls with murals and paint that was way too kiddie styled (MUST BE RE-PAINTED the minute we move in). But in general, I think if you have a good sense of style, don't listen to what they say. Especially if you live down here. They like reds and yellows. Every house and I mean EVERY house down here MUST have a red room. Our parlor is a dark red and although I hate it, we are going to repaint the same color. The rooms I changed out are the ones that people come in and comment about how pretty they are. You should have seen the ugly colors the goober contractor who did our bathroom was going to pick out - because he KNOWS what "pops" down here. Then after they are done and everyone is oohing and ahhing about the tile and granite and wall colors I picked out - then they want to take pictures so they can put it in their portfolio. They caught DH is a weak moment and he let them, I would not have answered the door.

Ceejay - oooh a nap. How nice. Good for you for getting to the gym. Are you working this weekend? Looks like we might be getting some rain.

I talked to my Mom last night - guess you guys up north sure got doused. My sister's sump pump in the basement died and they got flooded with 6 inches of back washed water. What a mess! Now they have a battery back up pump but stayed up all night because they didn't trust the new one not to die too :yikes: You guys are going to be growning mold farms soon with all the wet and humidity and heat!

Shad - that's a bummer that all your good soil and seeds floated down the road to some lucky recipient. Your issue with the new weeds reminds me of buying extra top soil for the beds and then finding it is loaded with weed seedlings. I hope you can bend and get at the garden with that banged up leg. Are you looking at spring time plantings? How long will it take for the banana crop to recover?

Laura - that's funny - I used to do the same thing with the tv during commercial breaks - dash and wash a few dishes or grab a load of laundry or dust  Now I can pause mid broadcast and take all the time I need. Yes, I am taking time off to get the house decluttered and ready for showings as well as packing up some of the extra stuff for DH to take up north. Also, with me cancelling my September vacation, not sure if he will bring the trailer back with him (he's taking a trip by himself next month to work on the deck) or leave the trailer there since we don't want to leave it here over the winter. It really clogs the driveway and I have had to learn expert techniques in backing into the driveway and dodging trees, cars and trailers just to park it for the night  Oh come on, try something new with your hair just to snap things up! It's only hair, it will grow back and everyone will tell you how great it looks! What are thundershirts?

Annie - hugs to you - hope you are feeling a bit better  Sometimes we just need some time to be sad before we can move to the next stage of dealing with it. Did the doctors tell DS anything more or just leave it as this is how it is? Thinking about you and sending you some love :grouphug:

Michelle - is this crazy Friday for you with reports? Are you working from home today? Hope you get some weekend time to have a little fun. Did Milwaukee Fest happen already? And the State Fair? I know you used to like to go to them - don't remember you talking about them this year but then again, maybe I forgot. :dizzy: When does DMIL go back west?

Time for me to get a move on here. Have a good weekend everyone.

happy2bme 07-29-2011 10:46 AM

Laura - my DH is on some heart medication - I know it's for blood pressure but it relaxes the blood vessels. His BP (both numbers) is so low that I sometimes wonder if that's a good thing. But I think this is also the stuff that makes him sweat alot so probably not something you'd want to consider.

diyana 07-29-2011 01:24 PM

Busy day today. Working from home and still dang busy. After work, taking DMIL to the hair salon, then coming home to mow the front and back lawns and maybe weed whack (depending on my back).

I'll try and write more later.

Love and hugs,

upswife 07-29-2011 02:24 PM

Hello ladies,

Just wanted to dorp in and let you all know I may be MIA for a while longer. We are having some money issues, which causes stress and makes it difficukt to focus on me getting healthy.

I still am doing my best day by day, and the new meds seem to be helping, but I feel like a heel for ignoring all of you when I just can't face the day. Know that you all have a place in my heart, and I Will try to be back soon.

ceejay52 07-29-2011 07:35 PM

Ellen
I understand. Take care of yourself.

Happy,
Sounds like you are getting a lot done.

Mel
You sound like myself. I think I'm well and low and behold, I'm not. I have to leave off spiced foods. Plus some other things that I've found out the hard way that will set off my diverticulitis.

Laura
Glad the fluid me is has been working for you.

Michelle
Don't over do with the yard work. I'd like to get outside and do some weed eating and trim the bushes. But it's been to hot until today. We got some much needed rain but not nearly enough rain today. I'd like to mow the front lawn for the exercise. It was a hit and miss by the person who mowed a couple of weeks ago. BUT it was to hot for anyone to be outside.

Shad
Are you still busy writing those document?

We had a safety luncheon today which was bbq. I did not over eat. This afternoon around 3 p.m. I took my neighbor and her grand children out for pizza. The grand children are leaving to go back to Illinois Monday.
Tomorrow I'm heading for Paragould. My uncles are eating together again, but I can make healthy choices and I'll ride the bike in the morning after I get up.
I bought some children's Allegra today. There is a histamine in it. I'm hoping that it will be enough help to clear up my sinuses but not make me drowsy.
Went to the gym again today and rode the bike. Today it was a chore. My knee's are sore. But I do like the endophins that Michelle talks about.I was ready for another nap afterwards so that's what I did.
I've found a leak under the bathroom sink this morning.
This morning I was on my way to Walmart and I notice the car in front of me slowing down. I came to a complete halt. The woman got out of the car through some things down on the highway and went to the passenger side of the car. I went around them after the other traffic went around me. When I looked back I saw the passenger get into the drivers seat. As I wallked into Walmart the person walking behind me asked me if the couple in the car ahead of me was fighting. I said it certainly looked like it. That car didn't stay stopped long. I should have called the police. That was a traffice hazzard. I had to swerve to miss them.

ceejay52 07-29-2011 07:40 PM

Forgot to mention that the burn is healed. It wasn't that bad.

happy2bme 07-30-2011 10:28 AM

Good morning all,

Boxes boxes everywhere. I can't believe it took me all day to clean one closet. Guess that means I'm in trouble because I have an even bigger closet to work on today and a whole room to boot! Last night I took a soak in the new soaker tub. Heavenly!!!!! A long time ago Jergens made these fizzy bath tablets called Actibath. They were my favorite - smelled nice and made your skin soft without leaving slippery residue in the tub. They stopped making them back in 2002 and I have been hoarding 4 tablets. Yesterday I used one in the bath - ahhhh so nice :cloud9: A great way to end the day. The color DH picked out for the kitchen is an odd one. It's supposed to be a tan but it's actually the color of putty. Once on it looks gray with a slight brown tone to it. It's different, sort of grows on you. It does "pop" the white cabinets, looks good with the red bottom panel in the breakfast area and the stainless appliances, but I'm not so sure I like it with the brown butcher block counters. But as we both say - :dunno: heck, we don't have to live with it, the new people can repaint if they don't like it

Thanks for the magic Mel - you're right - we can all do with a bit of it. Did you like the movie Untamed Heart? As for John - if he threatened to retire just as a ploy to get more money, that was a foolish move on his part. I'm not sure that kind of behavior works for anyone any more. It was nice of him to "apologize" to you (in his own way of course) about how he treated you in the past. Hope he can find something to occupy himself. Glad to hear that Jen did not bust anything up when she fell. I think we all get a little unsteady as we get older, but I do understand your concern. I'm sure she doesn't say anything so that you don't worry any more than you already do ;) Happy 3FC anniversary to you!!! :celebrate::woo: Hard to believe these hens have been hanging around together for so long. I've been friends with some of you I've never met longer than I have with people face to face

Ceejay - glad your arm is ok. My Mom has diverticulitis and it took a long time of trial and error to determine which foods were safe and which were trouble. We also "joke" about her $32,000 Italian Sausage sandwich - they got take out at my sister's one night and about 2:30 in the morning Mum was feeling so poorly (thought it was her heart) that she actually work Sis up and had them take her to the E/R. After all tests were done and a 2 day stay in the hospital for observation, it was determined it was indigestion, not her 80 year old heart. So sometimes food reacts in strange and scary ways. Crazy drivers - good thing you did not get into an accident. I swear at least half the people out there have no clue how to drive. The other half are on the cell phone

Ellen - sorry to hear of your woes at the moment. As Mel said, we will be here when you decide to come back. Take care of yourself - one day at a time.

Annie, Annie come back to us :grouphug: Dry those tears and come back, we miss you an awful lot!

Michelle - I'm amazed that you can do all the mowing (with the corresponding bending and picking things up) and not be ripping your back up. Get what you need to done and have a little time for you.
