Morning
Yesterday and today I've come into work and my co-worker had been answering the phone due to power outages. They were not all over town. I walked into the grocery store this morning and they had power only on the cash registers. Kinda spooky in there.

Michelle
I realize I'm making excuses but the heat has really drained me this week.
I didn't go to the gym last night. But you are still inspiring to me for that reason.

Happy
 I for one understand about the mania/stress due to the job issues. My boss made a comment one day about me buying a car and having me for the next five years. I pray that I can stick it out that long.

Mel
I'd be upset with all those alarms going off in the middle of the night. Stay inside with you do not disturb sign on the door today. How are the sinus issues today?

Laura
Hope the bf can find the right handle bars. How are you doing taking the fluid med? Nice that you got to chat with your cousin after your work out.

Good afternoon. Just a quick hello - I had a meeting first thing in the AM that went all morning and I just got back from lunch.

Last night I chose to finally see what the PIYO exercise class was about - PIlates/YOga. This one was about 90% yoga and 10% pilates. The instructor was one of the same ones who does the Tighter Assets class, and the one who moves at a very quick pace and probably fits in about 1/3 more routines/activity into her classes than other instructors - so it was very challenging. I'm not a yoga regular, but I've taken a few classes, so I know some of the moves. Lucky for me because although it's billed as "beginner/intermediate" it didn't feel beginner-friendly at all. All in all, I think I would have preferred more pilates, which I've taken in the past. I'll stick with other classes since this once starts too late for me.

Tonight's choices are a 6 pm step class, 6:50 body blast, or 8 pm zumba. I'm going to try really hard to get the earlier train and make the step class.

Okay, I'll have to catch up on personals tomorrow. TTFN!

Shad 07-27-2011 05:40 PM

Morning all,
I've been flat out busy over the past couple of days trying to get up to speed with this job. Think I am sort of there now. As usual I am trying to get things done at home as well - instead of leaving it for the weekend. Once in a while I wouldn't mind enjoying my weekends, so I am trying for the flylady thing. So I do a wash every morning and hang it out when I get home and bring the previous days wash in. Clean up the kitchen and empty the dishwasher that I put on before I went to work and sweep the floor. Tonight I will try for a bed change and a bedroom dust and sweep as well as the kitchen and laundry. Woman's work is never done.
Last night the blocks arrived for the wall. They were left outside the gate and because there are some strange people around these days I wanted to get them inside. So when I got home, I got changed and started heaving those suckers inside the gate. Man they are heavy. DS2 came out to help. At one stage I took a brick out of the wheelbarrow and for some reason went backwards and fell - scrapped my leg down the rough edge of the resident brick and dropped the other brick on my other leg. Today I have bruises, scratches and scabs and the legs hurt somewhat. Things we do hey!!!

Happy - sounds like you are making progress with the mind games that happen when people mess with our heads, jobs and livelihoods. Sorry to hear that you will not be going to the other house this weekend but as you say, you have to get to the important stuff and get it done. Hope the kitchen is finished by the weekend.

Mel - always the drama in the 'hotel aged' but does it always have to happen at the same time and always when the day care has gone home??

Laura - stick with getting the handlebars you want. You won't use it if you aren't comfortable on it. One thing about getting older is that you don't have to put up with the cr*p if you don't want to.

Ceejay - power going out - is this because of the load on the system with the heat etc.?

Better go get on with the day. Everyone seems to think that I can do three times as much as I really can. I tell people that I am not a miracle worker but they do not believe.

annie175 07-27-2011 08:09 PM

Good Evening all...

Holy Crap Shaddie...you sound like me with your brick/fall episode. Kinda how I broke my arm last year....fell over some decorative blocks I was trying to arrange. I think as we age our coordination leaves us. Your flylady routine sounds like my daily go about.

MELLIE....put some ear plugs in your ears and forego the alarms. I think seniors can't sleep so they dream up crap to do...like cause alarms to go off.

Laura...hope you made it off to the step class. I tried that ONCE, it is harder than it looks and made me breath pretty deep...lol

Ceejay...hold down the fort and keep the power on.

Happy...wished I lived closer to you, I would definitely help you with all the house stuff. Right up my alley. One day at a time sister...one day at a time.

Chelle...hope you are feeling better by now and DMIL also. It is all that work you are doing...makes me sick too! lol

Not much going on here....made dinner and took it over to DD. She has a terrible cold and sinus infection and not much she can do about it. Chicken linguine alfredo, salad with pickin's from the garden, garlic bread, and chocolate chip heath bar brownies. They were greatful to get it, plus they had DDs BFs daughter, Ainsley tonight. We watched Wheel of Fortune..haha, then I came home to clean up my kitchen and do a bit of laundry.

Gotta get my bunz busy around here and finish up what I started.

Loves and Hugs.

annie175 07-27-2011 09:22 PM

Well baby boy just called me. I have been bawling since we hung up...I did keep a positive upbeat voice/talk with him while on the phone.

His truck broke down last week...actually took a major sh*t. Not looking good.

Dixie, my granddog got loose and ran away, he hasn't seen her in two days, that bums him out the most and think he would cry if he weren't such a soldier.

Then the worst thing...he had his eyes checked and his blook vessels are growing into his lens or cornea or something and eventually it will make him go blind. This makes me very upset and worry.....

I love him so and feel so very badly for him. I just want to wrap my arms around him and keep him safe.

Done.

annie175 07-27-2011 09:24 PM

blood vessels not blook vessels

happy2bme 07-27-2011 10:31 PM

oh Annie - I am so sorry for the sorrows with DS. Keep positive - they are doing remarkable things with the eyes. The good thing is they found it early so they can keep watch on it. Perhaps it won't be as bad as they make it seem. I hope the puppy comes back. Did DS move or something and the dog is confused?

happy2bme 07-27-2011 10:32 PM

I will be back in the morning to post when I'm having coffee. Am trying to read now but really tired and I keep yawning and then my eyes start tearing and I can't see. Going to clean the kitchen, feed the cat and head off to sleep. G'night all.

Shad 07-28-2011 04:45 AM

Oh Annie - hope the DS eyes can be sorted. Good job he is in the army. They tend to have good hospitals and medical places.

Gonna be cold again tonight. Time to wrap up in layers again.

Happy - sometimes there is nothing for it but to pack up, turn out the lights and go to bed. I did that last night. Did wonders although I was awake in the early hours.

Legs are fine - but I won't have to shave them in a while. No skin left on the lower left leg and the right has a big bruise and some scabby bits. Such is life. I will enjoy sitting on that wall when it is done. It will have to put up with my weight, rather than me putting up with it's weight.

Shad 07-28-2011 04:47 AM

Ha ha gotta laugh. I put in a full day on doco today and now the business is complaining that they have to read and proof it. What else did they expect

diyana 07-28-2011 08:18 AM

Hi everyone -

Quick post for me as I am behind on my work. I was out sick yesterday with a stomach bug (and left early on Tuesday due to feeling lousy). We didn't get to the baseball game on Tuesday, neither DMIL nor I were feeling well enough to go. I'm feeling a little better today...and I'm hoping to be able to eat today. Needless to say...I'm missing my endorphins...I haven't worked out since Monday.

It rained all day yesterday...sometimes thunderstorms and pouring down buckets...other times just a slow steady rain. Northern IL and Chicago seems to be it worse.

*******************

Mel - That sucks about all those alarms the other night. I hope tonight's meetings are brief. DH, DMIL and I are all having sinus issues this summer too. And I rarely have sinus problems. :(

Shad - Did you finish writing the courses? I'm impressed by all the flylady stuff you're accomplishing around the house. I try and do most of my wash during the week...or at least on Fridays when I work from home. That sucks that you fell and hurt yourself while hauling bricks! Those scabs, scrapes and bruises sound awful!! I hope the pain is less by now. Too funny about the business complaining they have to read/proof your doco. That's just like how it is here when I crank out a ton of reports and do my testing then send it off to the business for their final approval...sometimes they get overwhelmed by how much they have to review. Ha ha.

Happy - I wasn't aware you're still working. Are they eliminating your job? When is your last day? I hope you're able to get a lot done on your long "weekend" this week.

Laura - :bravo: for trying PiYo. I'm not strong enough in the core for many Pilates moves...and I don't have clearance to do a lot of the Yoga moves yet. I hope you got to Step class last night.

Annie - So nice of you to make dinner for DD and her bf and his daughter. I'm so sorry to hear of all your son's troubles! That's awful about the blood vessels in his eyes! Is it happening in both eyes or just one? Is there anything that can be done to stop the spread or reverse the damage? Is his vision okay for now? As Happy said, they are doing amazing things with restoring vision nowadays. So sad about his dog. I would be heartbroken if I lost one of mine. And on top of all that truck repairs?! That sucks!! Sending you and your family hugs and prayers, sista.

Ceejay - Were you having lots of storms that caused that power outages? Are your burns healing up?

Big  to Ellen!

Gotta sign off for now and get some stuff done.

Lots of love and hugs,
Michelle

annie175 07-28-2011 08:55 AM

Morning all...in no mood to post personals. Trying to stay positive for myself, DD and DS...if this is life FORGET it. I am done.

diyana 07-28-2011 09:03 AM

Annie - Please do stay positive. Lots to stay positive for. You've got a grandbaby on the way! That's exciting and very positive! As for DS, I know he and you are both hurting with all his current troubles. Make sure he gets a second or third opinion on the blood vessels in his eyes. Remember what your signature line says...Matthew 21:22. All will be well, my dear sista. Love you lots. :grouphug:

Laura705 07-28-2011 10:41 AM

Morning all. Still haven't caught up on personals. Busy morning shaping up here, and I'm meeting a friend for lunch today, so I won't have time for reading your posts until later - maybe on the train.

Last night I went to the "Body Blast" class, which is resistance training. We used hand weights and exercise tubes. It was a decent class, but I prefer to take the cardio classes. My cousin was in class, so at least I got to see her. Bf had dropped me off at class and then went off on another parts pickup for my bike. When he picked me up after class, I got to introduce my cousin to him. That's right - all these years and they'd never met. We're not a close immediate family, let alone extended...

Another round of thunderstorms late last night and doggy was all hyped up - shaking and panting. Bf ended up giving him a pill to calm him. Michelle - did you ever hear of Thunder Shirts to calm dogs who are afraid during storms, fireworks? I thought it came up here at some point, but my memory fails me.

Feeling in need of a good stretch today, and soreness is kicking in. Tonight will be a break - I have a hair appointment. Not sure what to do with this mop as far as a haircut.

Okay, back to it. Have a good day everyone. :sunny:
