Mo Moo
See! I am starting a new thread! Please don't use it. Please make the other one longer. It is 4:25 am and I should be asleep. I will be tired all day. This is bad.
I found on the internet that you can take the same cruise ds and I are taking for $379 if you go the week after Thanksgiving. This is seven days to Belize, Cozumel and Grand Caymans. Ah may zing. I have something petty bothering me. This woman in my office has a dd who has two little girls. The dd came around with a fund raiser for the daycare where she works. Three of us bought stuff. Two bought candy and one bought notepads. When the candy came in, the dd put it on her mom's desk when mom wasn't looking with no explanation. Mom assumed it was an anonymous gift from someone and took it home and ate it. The notepads have not showed up. We paid for this stuff ahead of time. The mom is one of those people who talks about how broke she is all the time and is whining about having to pay people for the candy. I don't want her to pay for the $7 overpriced candy that wouldn't have lasted a minute anyway but it changes my feelings toward them that I'm taken for granted as someone who will just give them this stuff. The dd would have found us and delivered it personally if it wasn't paid for. On the positive side, Fly Woman is offering an additional 17 emails a day. |
Peachers, it's not the same cruise. The cruise you want to go on is the week of Christmas, not the week after Thanksgiving. Book your cruise and start buying some skimpy outfits. All the singles will be on the week of Christmas cruise.
Re: the overpriced fund raiser candy. If you're like me, you'll let this slide, but you have just been released from any obligation whatsoever to buy fund raiser candy from this woman's children ever again. That's worth the 7 bucks right there. I always wish I could just donate half the cost to the school and skip the overpriced candy. We had record breaking warm weather here yesterday. 67 degrees and sunny:cool: I had a major hairstylist disaster yesterday. She decided my hair was getting too "brassy" so she colored it dark. I hate it. DH hates it. I can't afford to have it redone. It accentuates the dark circles around my eyes. :tired: What's on your agenda today Lushy? Sugar? Kiwi? Where's Cherry been? Cool about your sis, Bagzie. I'm going to go read Brattie's diary to see what's up with her. Dahlia, did you find your way over here? Has anyone heard if Frappe's all settled back in the states? |
I am a total failure. I was supposed to do all that stuff yesterday, but didn't. Now I am supposed to do more stuff today, and I didn't.
Peaches, I totallyagree with Wabby. I am sure even Kiwi would agree. This relieves you of the obligation to ever buy from these people again. I would, however, mention it to the offender. Maybe the embarrassment will stop her from asking again. Go on your Christmas cruise. The point is to go during Christmas, the cruise company knows that and that is why they are charging you more. As usual Wabby is right. She is the smartest. Wabby, the hairdresser should lighten your hair as a courtesy. Tell her how you feel. She will listen because I am sure you would have nothing but a sweet hairdresser. I have to go cancel a doctor's appt that I forgot about until right now. I need a more organized life. Here is my list:(that I probably won't do) 1. call dr cancel appt 2. call school ask if we can have b ball practice there 3. call bank 4. go pay taxes(I can't face my husband one more day) 5. shift wash 6. defrost dinner 7. make bed 8. organize laundry room 9. clean up by my chair in lr 10. kitchen counter I know I'm an intolerable bore with the lists...but I am so hopeless lately. I will delete it if I do it . Where's Sugar? Do we have an explanation for her absence? |
Hi ladies,,
I found you.. ;) tried to get away didn't you...LOL I walked on my treadmill for 20 min. this morning,, just getting back into a routine on it.. but have been up and down my stairs upteen times already... with dh up there...Whew!!! guess I'll get my exercises.. when he is well, son will be up there.. well hope it helps...:) That is terrible about the fundraiser.... and true, if you hadn't paid, she'd have tracked you down.... lesson learned here, don't pay till it comes.. or if it has to be paid in advance, tell them you have no money on you.... and get out of it... Lush, you are funny with your lists.. but hey didn't I see pay taxes on every list you've written so far.. :) don't you just hate to pay them.. I have to tell you gals... I won an evening with a gourmet chef... I went to a Taste Of Home cooking show week ago, and signed up for all kinds of door prizes, won nothing,, so I thought.. they called this tues,, and told me I won a dinner for 6. the chef comes to my house, cooks the dinner and then even cleans up... with hubby recuperating, it will be so nice to have a night off.... and still be fed....the chef even promised desert.. a cake.. having it done this coming MOnday.... Remember I told you I have two spoiled and spiteful dogs.. well we redid the tv room with new carpet, since we have grandbabies coming over now..and we keep the dogs out of that room.. well we were gone to the hospital all day yesterday so the loving sweet *****...*she is a female dog* decided to get even with us... she went to the bathroom in their... a nice mess.. then she or the other one.. not sure which one did it... got into the deer entrails the boys had put into the garbage outside and ate some.. of course upchucking it back up when they game in..in the livingroom.. good thing it was on the brick by the fireplace. Nice to come home to such *gifts*.... Well, now that I have grossed you all out... I'll sign off..LOL Dahlia I really don't like to clean house.. I may not be a slob, my house is definitely lived in... and not spick and span... there is to much else to do. But love to hear I am not alone in this feeling.... |
I'm telling...
the Animal Rights Kooks about that spider experiment.
Dahlia, you have my admiration--for running a hospital ward and for apparently maintaining your sanity after raising 5 boys! Now, we'll be happy to take advice on how to keep our houses clean. Of course no other advice has worked, but I'm always open to suggestions. See how nice Wabbit is, she even gave our newbie directions on how to find us. That fundraising debacle is ridiculous, Peaches. Why did they make you pay for it upfront? I've never had one do that--but I have had them take my order and never show up with the stuff, which I found really annoying. But at least I wasn't out any money. I had ordered a couple of "buckets" of frozen cookie dough one year and I was really looking forward to it (what, you think I was going to make cookies with it?) I assume the parents ended up paying for all the undelivered stuff. I do think you should get your money back regardless of your coworker's money woes. You got nothing for $7. Point out that if they want to raise money in future, it would help if people got what they paid for. Sorry to hear about the hairdresser booboo, Wab. I'm not a fan of hairdressers myself. Reason I have long hair, let's face it. I even liked my last cut (15 months ago), but don't remember the name of the girl who did it, so haven't gone back. I'm a dolt. Lush, you're so sensible, it's disgusting. I don't mind your lists, they remind me that I ought to be doing something too. Seeing's how I put myself on NoMail on Flylady, you can be her sub. That is one great prize, Dahlia, I'm jealous. Don't suppose you could convince the chef to do Thanksgiving dinner?? Aren't dogs fun? I miss mine so much. One time she found the little deep fryer I used to have (it had a tight lid so you could keep the fat in it) and she licked it clean -- must have consumed about 3 or 4 cups of Crisco. That was an unbelievable mess when it came back up. :yikes: At first I thought she was dying for sure -- I had no idea what she had eaten. As you can see, I like to gross everyone out too. Gotta go. I'm making porcupine meatballs for dinner. With real porcupines.:s: Kiwi |
PEACHES, MY SAILING FRIENDS ARE ANCHORED IN DESTIN AT THIS VERY MOMENT!

Doggie gross out stories
Sorry, Lush, but I just gotta tell it. --- My weiner dog once ate an entire pan of beef broth. We then took her on a ride in DH's truck. She was sitting in my lap, but DH reached over and scratched her ears. She was so grateful she leaned over and put her big brown eyed weiner dog face on his lap, and let loose !! Now you gotta understand what a weak stomach DH has. He pulled over to the side of the road, gagging and yelling, jumped out of his truck. I couldn't help laughing uncontrollably. He still hasn't forgiven me for that one. :lol:She was my baby before I had babies. Geez, I miss that little weiner dog.
MMMM. Porcupine meatballs w/ real porcupines. Could you come over and do something w/ all the possums on the road? :dizzy: The only reason I go to a hairdresser is I have bad, bad hair. You have lovely flaxen tresses, Kiwi. And I have gone to the same hairdresser for at least 15 years, so I have to continue to go to her. She depends on me. :D Also I would miss her, she's a sweetie, even if she did mess up on my color this time. |
FIRST, I did not intend to go cruising other than Christmas. Just pointing out the cheap price.
SECOND, it's good to pay for fundraisers up front. DS sold $481 worth of popcorn for a fundraiser and all but one person paid up front. All but her have been personally delivered to. She has to be tracked down. BUT you're so right. No one in my office will buy from these people again. The dirt has been burned and weighed. I don't know what comes next because I'm only the mom and not smart enough. I do know it's due by Tuesday though. Therefore, I am the naggy mom |
woowee, that was a good one, Wabbit! Made me laugh, anyway...
Your DS is just an angel, Peaches. I've just never been asked to pay up front for fundraiser orders. If that one who I ordered the cookie dough from had taken money from me, I'd have been on her doorstep drooling with a glazed look in my eyes. Oh by the way, the next step in the burned dirt project is to smoke it. Kiwi |
I fergot to say how sorry I am to hear about Wabby's hair. We need a cow hairdresser to serve us all. Except Kiwi. But, Wabby, you're always finding things about your gorgeous, funny, lovable self that aren't perfect. We had another cow once who had breast surgery. Remember? She discussed her lingerie quite a bit. Wabby, I THINK YOU'RE PERFECT AS IS.
|
Smoking dirt? Spider experiments? Am I in the twilight zone? I havn't been posting cause I havn't felt very well. I post on another tread and my diary and by the time I get here I am to tired. Please forgive me?
It has been a sad week in Longview. Saturday there was a 5 year old in my neighborhood that burned himslef up in a fire. He was playing with matches and was in a closet. His babysitter Aunt was downstairs at a friends apartment and the kid died. Neighbors did get the baby out though. Yesterday morning a Mom killed her 5 year old daughter in the other side of my neighborhood. I guess the school is having greig counsleors this week. The 2 kindergarten teachers are out all week bing sad. I say suck it up teachers cause your other kids need you now really bad. Don't I sound like a cold hearted *****? I understand they are sad but the girl just started this month so how close were they in that time? With there being 3 days the kids havn't gone and the last week being half days and the kindgarteners having half that time to go to school? I loved the story about the dog and the greese and the dogs and the deer guts. Sorry but I am just a gross humored old bag huh? Dahlia I forgot to say HI and welcome here I am the other newest member here and have been posting her a couple of months. These are great ladies and ful of humor as you can see. Daphne |
I'm worth a fortune
The reason I could not post for days and days is because I was at the dentist getting my shiny new gold inlay. I look like a gypsy pirate now. No, you can't see it - second molar from the back, left side. Let's just call it my first Christmas display.
Actually, I had one of those "feel like cr*p weeks" and just couldn't bear to post. Peachy! ALL the eligible bachelors will be on *your* cruise. You simply musssst take advantage of every single bingo night and shuffleboard tournament. I would forget about the 7$ too. They will have learned their lesson when they never ever sell anything to anyone again. Sorry about the hair, Wabby! But I'm sure you look lovely. Will it fade a little, or is it the kind that has to grow out? Gretchen, my parents' wiener dog used to pee with pleasure every time anyone scratched her tummy. I think you're a great candidate for br*ast r*duction s*urgery seeing as how you did so well with the tummy thing. Hi Dahlia! Let me introduce myself. Second sweetest member and youngest too when Cherry cow isn't around. I'm Canadian but somehow ended up here in this enchanting (NOT) European town with a dh and two engergetic boys. My hobbies are eating and avoiding the butcher's wife. Hey Kiwi! I read your dentist rant in your journal. Good one! I'm still waiting for the novocaine to wear off. Lush, your lists have been motivating me. Really. I've even written lists of my own. Go for the lit up reindeer. I suggested it to dh but he said "Absolutely not, what would the neighbours think?2 Geez, Brattie- I think you need to move. And I think you're right about the teachers needing to be there for the kids. Getting a slight headache. Better go eat lunch. |
I always thought Sugar P was so sweet and adorable until she pointed out to the world how she's younger than me. :p
|
OK can I get a return on a rotten step child? He feels he had a great day because he was talked to once at school for behavior and once on the bus for not sitting the right way. He is ready to be kicked off the bus for his behavior there. So can I kick him outta my house for being rotten?
Daphne |
What's a sted child? No, you have to keep him whatever he is. Buy him a six-pack of playstation games and a big box of oreos.
Sugar, am I the sweetest? Is that what you meant? Yes, I hope this cruise has tONS of teenagers and activities for THEM so I CAN BE FREE to go do adult things like play bingo and shuffleboard. Thanks, Sugar. Why don't you come? Kiwi won't come. Kiwi is selfish. I made the best salad yesterday. Everyone else make it too.
|
:lol::lol: thought u were going to say a 6 pack of beer! Wow that would be interesting. I fixed my spelling error. I also broke a long nail down into the nailbed opening a laundry bottle neck to use the last drop. I will not try that again and now I hurt. Poor pittiful me huh?
Brattie |
Peaches, that sounds like a summer time salad. It is not summer in my part of the world. It is gray and cold. I need a chicken pot pie recipe. I will save your salad recipe for next August, when we have summer here.
And yes, Peaches, I am perfect as is, but I have constant upper back pain. If this was about being perfect, I wouldn't go on purpose to get frankenboobies. I'm a short girl w/ 36F boobies. Mother nature has a real sense of humor sometimes. |
I would come to call your Bingo, if I could. It would be so much fun.
|
Regarding Wabby's surgery. Linda had it. It went fine. She is about 4'10" and her boobs protruded from her chest about 4'10" no exaggeration. We laughed at her when she was preggers. Her stomach never got past her chest.
ANYWAY, she looks adorable now. It did hurt, but that was ok because now she isn't constantly in pain. Wabby, if you want to do it, go for it. It will give you more computer time. Make sure you have a computer around for your recovery. They were doing work on the street outside my kids' school and they hit a gas line. They had to evacuate all the kids. They made the grade school go to the church and say the Rosary for hours while they were waiting for buses to be available. Nuns just slay me. I'm so tired, I think I'll go to bed. DS has his championship soccer game tomorrow. We are all excited. Then I am going Christmas shopping with my friend. Me, going out. DD and her friends want to go see Rocky Horror at the Midnight show. I think they are going to be disappointed, it won't be like it was in the 80's. I'll let you know. Sugar, I'm sorry you've been feeling punky. You poor darling. Gotta go to bed. bye. |
F??????
They come in F? :yikes: I'll make you an appointment myself, Wabbit!
Wow, those are some awful things going on in your town, Brat. And those kindergarten teachers ought to ashamed of themselves. What self-serving kind of crap is that, staying out of school like they are the ones bereaved? Teaches a nice to lesson to their students -- when tragedy strikes, the people you count on disappear. Great. Much better to lock up the kids in the church and make them recite prayers, eh, Lush? That's a weird one, too. Good luck on DS's soccer championship tomorrow, Lush!! :crossed: That chicken sounds scrumptious, Peaches. Don't put any hot mustard in my portion, please. Today at noon DH and I were invited to a :jeno: party for all the Meals volunteers (and their spouses). One of the volunteers (this very cool old lady) made a massive batch of dough and they made fried dough pizzas  They were soooo good, you would not believe it. DH was afraid they were going to try to recruit him, but of course they didn't and he actually enjoyed it. And tonight we went to the high school musical -- "Into the Woods". Nope, DD wasn't in it, she declined to try out. She has many excuses for this lapse. The latest was that "she always gets a cold this time of year so it's a good thing she didn't try out" :nose: She thinks maybe next year she will try out for the "pit band" -- the small orchestra that plays for the musical. I think she ought to put herself out there and try out for a part. She actually loves to perform on stage, but she's not the extremely outgoing type, so it's hard for her to make herself try it I guess. Hi Sugar -- We missed you! Hope you have plenty of pain reliever on hand for the post-novacaine. You really made me laugh with your DH's "Absolutely not, what would the neighbours think?" I don't know why, I think that's hilarious. Later kiddies Kiwi |

Bagzie, I got you beat. I went out to dinner friday and saturday nights. To the same place both nights. They have a 5!!! course dinner, complete w/ a relish dish that has pickled chicken gizzards :eek:in it. Then I was lazy on sunday and ordered in pizza, so I had waaay to much to eat this weekend. Although from the sound of your post, you probably had me beat in the margie department;) . Horrible, horrible about the murdered young man. Re: your frozen candle thingies, they sound beautiful, but they would only be puddles in the rain here. We only just this morning got a little frost.
Hi Brattie, where are we back from?Did I miss a trip? Kiwi, deep fried ??!! pizza? Of course it had to be delicious!! I did my first Christmas shop on saturday. I have a friend too, Lush. We went to lunch. We shopped. We bought stuff for our loved ones, and a few things for ourselves. :^: I'm thinking of having a pre-shopping brunch in December, just for girls only. Doesn't that sound fun? Oprah thinks it's important to nurture our female friendships. Oprah's so smart. You will all be invited. :D |
I ment we are all back and able to post again! I missed not posting this weekend even though I was to busy to do it. I have oranges and bananas to eat today so I am a happy brat. I want a Christmas tree up now. I love the Holidays!I want to go eat woth all of you! I think that 5 course dinner sounds divine, and deep fried pizza? Oh to yummers. Pickled gizzards? No way would I eat those. What are potato nachos?
What is eveyone doing for Thanksgiving? How did the science project go? I want to send cards for Christmas to all of you but I have noones address. So send me a private message and I will send you a card. I love sneding cards. I love getting them even better! Brattie |
MMMMMMMMMMM
We stopped by the grocery store tonight and they had a whole bunch of fresh evergreen wreaths in the entrance. They smelled so wonderful!!! I don't think we're going to get a tree this year because we are leaving for NC on the 20th and not getting back until Jan 3rd.
Everyone is really chowing down here! We bad. We're supposed to wait at least until Thanksgiving (except Bagz who already had that). We went out to dinner last night and tonight too. :ink: And Friday night. :ink: And on Saturday we got takeout. :ink: Obviously we are going to hog he** Pickled :chicken: gizzards? Where did you eat--Fear Factor? Yeah, the :jeno: dough was deep fried. Then you put the toppings on and put it in the oven to melt the :cheese: . Amazing. Oh, lord, I'm still talking about food. Stop the insanity!! Kiwi |
I admire the type of woman who can come to 3fcs and talk about fried dough.
|
There are several admirable individuals around here. ;)
|
Today I'm marinating pork tenderloin in Maple Chipotle Sauce, broiling it, and serving it with leftover fried rice and a salad.
And tonight we have conferences. I have a feeling there won't be a lot of other parents there. DD said only about 5 other kids in her homeroom got conference schedules (we had to request conferences with which teachers we wanted). Today was a half day and school is now out for Thanksgiving WhenDidThisBecomeA Vacation. So apparently a lot of parents figure this is an opportunity for a week's vacation and took their kids out for the whole week. Not a very good time to schedule parent/teacher conferences, unless the purpose is to have as few as possible. Then of course as long as your kids are not flunking, why would you want to talk to any of their teachers or even care what they're doing, right? I'm assuming that is the attitude. Well, I am here to say that one reason my kid is the only freshman on the all-A's honor roll this quarter is because her parents insist on knowing what she is doing in school. End Rant Later kiddies Kiwi |
Happy (couple of days early) Thanksgiving to the herd
Stopping in to say hope you all have a great holiday. I'm a little early, but pc at home is down and I have the rest of the week off....with pay no less!!!:cb: :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb:
Happy late Thanksgiving to the canadian heffers! Kiwi, I HAVE TO HAVE the maple chipotle sauce recipe. That sounds yummy. I will have to search for it today. Sounds like it would be interesting with sweet potatoes. Enjoy your turkey feast all!  |
Hey cows! I'm sorry it's been so long since I checked in. I'm doing this writing a novel in a month thing and that's taking so much of my time. I'm also still a fat cow who absolutely cannot lose weight no matter how much I starve myself and it's pissing me off.
So that's my story. Also, I'm halfway through my Christmas shopping! Yahoo! |
Hey Cherry!
Quote:
We *have* to get that printed on the official WLB t-shirt! I read the start (or is it the middle? Not sure) of your novel and I like it. One day you'll be famous. More famous than now I mean. Silly me thinking that US Thanksgiving was on Monday and wondering why nobody mentioned it. Now I find out it's on a *Thursday*?? Where's the fun in that? Except for an extra-long weekend, of course. So what will you cows be eating? Went to an information evening last night to do with ds9's further education. After 4th grade they go into something called the "Orientation Level" which encompasses grades 5 and 6. At the end of 6th grade, these babies *have to decide what they want to be when they grow up*. Did YOU know what you wanted to be when you were 12??? After that there are three different types of schools you can send them to. Or other schools that have all the types under one roof but also lots of drugs. It's all so confusing and Germany keeps scoring abysmally in those international student comparisons for the very reason that the kids have to decide so early. Also, school is out at lunch time. Wouldn't want to tax the teachers' (who are civil servants and therefore virtually "unfireable") brains too much, would we? Oh well. Dh hated the grade 5/6 school principal and said "I know a liar when I see one" Uh oh. This should be fun. This afternoon is a Christmas arts and crafts party in ds6's class. We are supposed to bring something to snack on and this time, instead of slaving over 150 itty bitty home made sugar cookies, I went out and bought a bag of cookies, some Cheese Bugles and a carton of grape juice. What an enlightening experience. Nobody cares anyway. Hey muffie! How's the Punkin? |
I am so confused. Sugar's boys are babies. Why is she talking about school?
|
Sorry, Muffie
Maple Chipotle Sauce comes in a bottle! I got 2 bottles of the stuff in the past year; it's actually a grilling sauce. I'll tell you, it was delicious! I added a bit of olive oil and a splash of sherry to the marinade because it's rather thick. Then I spooned some over the pork while it was broiling (on a low rack to make sure it cooked enough and didn't dry out the outside). :chef:
Sugar, I've heard about that nutty school system over there. Good luck. Parent/teacher conferences went well last night. Every one of DD's teachers claimed she was quiet in class. When did that happen? Not to complain. We were disappointed to find that the school has no intention to allow her to take any credit for the college level classes she's been taking in the summer. Typical. She will just have to sleep through 3 more years of English. Well, at least they will look good on her college apps. Get this, her computer teacher is afraid of the internet. She doesn't have it at her home because she "has a 17 year old and a 6 year old" (huh?) and has not wanted to let her students who are learning Html to actually publish the school web page they are making. She's waiting until the computer guy who deals with the school's computers has time to "look into the security issues" before letting these kids put anything on the internet. She thinks maybe "over the summer" :yikes: DD will be learning html in that class next semester. I may have to start getting loud and obnoxious. DD really likes this teacher and is enjoying the class, but good grief. Hi Cherry, Hi Muffie!! Happy Thanksgiving to All! Kiwi |
what I am thankful for
I am thankful for Bagz because she is so sweet and came to Boston to get me one time. She is also talented beyond belief and has beautiful children, home and dh. Her mom is perfect as was her dad. She is so good at saying hudda and typing in all caps with no paragraph breaks. She has style.
I am thankful for Brattie because she decided to like us. Sometimes it's not easy to break into an established group. She seems to feel guilty for being neat so that's nice too. I am thankful for Cherry because she is so productive. Although I don't accomplish much in a day, I know someone who does. She also has red hair which makes her special and in the pictures of her we've seen, she's BEAUTIFUL. Cherry has much in her life to envy and doesn't seem to realize it. I am thankful for Kiwi because she is smart and good and honest and has gorgeous taffy-colored hair. She is a great mom (as we all are) and her school district is lucky she allows them to have her child in their classrooms. Kiwi also posts more often than some others and helps hold us together. When Dusty gets us on the Oprah Show (is that still on?) Kiwi should get to sit next to Oprah. Kiwi is always helpful too. That means she is capable of helping, not just willing. Someday I will resize that picture. I am thankful for Lush because when she bothers to show up I am so happy. Lush just makes people happy. Isn't that a wonderful gift. She helped me get Herbie and I can hardly wait for her to help me on to something better. Lush is my true sissy and I love her. I can't wait to get my Christmas crack-laced mints. I am thankful for Muffie because she keeps showing up. That may not make sense at first glance but it's a complicated universe. I am thankful for Sugar because she is so international and sophistocated. She also is sweet and soothing and funny. Whenever I think of someone snooty where snootiness is not deserved, the butcher's wife comes to mind. Sugar makes us cool because we have young people who like to hang out here. I am thankful for Wabby because she is always so normal and cheerful and provides a sort of sanity anchor for this bunch. Also, she's always "improving" herself in some weird way which gives us something to talk about. Wabby is wise and gives good advice. Wabby is generous and kind and no wonder her ds's girlfriend is always around. I am thankful for 3FC because they keep the site open for us and grow cuter in their pictures. |
Peaches! That was so sweet! I'm going to print out the Wabby part and read it to myself every time I start to think I'm a schlump. And for some reason the part about Muffie and the complicated universe thing was very touching. And of course, every wonderful thing about all the other wonderful cows was true. And I'm thankful for all the same reasons and I'm thankful for you, little Peach-pie, because you are such a talented writer that you can put it all down in black and white, and also because you are you, so talented and brave and feisty.
At the last minute DH has decided that it wouldn't be Thanksgiving without having my wacky extended family over, even though at first he said no way. Soooo I'm cooking for 16 ppl instead of our nuclear family of 6 (DH, DD, DS, GF, & DS's friend). I will be up at dawn for the marathon cook, which will be consumed within 20 minutes. Who will be putting up Christmas lights the day after Thanksgiving? |
Aww, Peaches
That is so nice! :cloud9: I'm thankful for all of you too, especially Peaches who actually talks to me on Instant Messaging!
Wabbit, are you telling me that all these people made no plans for Thanksgiving themselves -- they just waited for an invitation from you? I'm thinking that some of them might have showed up even if you never did invite them  Well, have a good time. Hope they don't drive you crazy! Kiwi |
Kiwi, I think they all were waiting for me to call. My older sister was going to go out to a restaurant w/ her 2 grown children, & my brother & his family were going to have dinner at home, but were more than happy to change plans when I called. What can I say? I have a whacky family :dizzy:
They won't drive me crazy, but DH gets a little heeby-jeeby from them. Hey - they're family, and even if they're sometimes annoying, they're mine. I wish all you lovelies a wonderful holiday, even you Canadians, who have your Thanksgiving dates mixed up!;) |
I am so touched. Sissy, you are the best. Have you made your new list? I can not help you find a new man if you don't have a list. Are you dolling up every day?
I am cooking my little heart out. I am only having the six of us, a little of a letdown for me, but fine with the rest of my family. We plan to have fun. They are all helping(?) me cook and hopefully this spirit will continue through clean-up. My son was in the paper for winning his soccer championship. I was in the paper for getting hired by a new school district. I am changing districts. I'm going from a k-6 district to a k-12 district so that if I ever want to work full time, I can get a job. I, too, am amazed that Sugar's darlings are of the age to choose careers. No school is perfect. My kids have a choice between half dead nuns whose education pre-dates the decimal system and a state of the art public school that is under seige, they lose at least two half days a month to bomb scares. My neighbor has abandoned her locker because she's afraid to ask the bully next to her to move. No one can go into the bathrooms because they are completely taken over by drug dealers. . I know that it is just because we're so close to a city, but it boggles my mind that the adults in the school tolerate this stuff. I do not understand how parents make it through the day when their kids are there all day. That is not where I'm going to work, I'm going to another school where three teachers have been fired for hitting students and a bus driver was fired for selling drugs & having sex with 13 year olds. I assume this sort of stuff doesn't happen in more isolated places like Dogpatch and Maine. Am I right? I hope so. If Brattie is so nice, why doesn't she tell us how not to be slobs? Here is what I'm making: Turkey bread stuffing potato filling mashed turnips(cut up by dh) green bean goop cranberry sauce corn pickled cucumbers(chopped by ds) rolls banana bread(made by dd) pumpkin pie(made by dd) I'm getting fatter just thinking about it. As all of you know, I cook with real butter and heavy cream. Remember that weight I lost? |
analysis please
I got this presumably well-meaning email from Herbie regarding the singles group we used to attend (and which I think he now attends again). The woman who runs the group lives in Dogpatch and Herbie says she has invited the group to her house tomorrow night for Thanksgiving. He didn't say when. He didn't give the address. He said I KNOW YOU DON'T LIKE ANYONE TO SUGGEST ANYTHING BUT .....
Someone tell me if a man can say a thing like that and not intend to be mean. |
