Love the Fall leaves Sher!!!!

I could actually drink more then the 3 cups of java.... that's usually all that is left for me in the A.M. after hubby gets his share.

Dee: Congrats on being a double blessed Aunt!!!! I will make sure and include that poor girl in my prayers! She will have her hands full!!!! :lol:

I have decided that I am sick and tired of this weight! all of my clothes are to tight, which are the after effects of me getting to "cocky" and lax in my eating habits. Back to the watching every single bite that enters this face! I am down one day.....

Sherry those leaves are but a past memory here. We have snow covering everything. It has been mild the last few days. Rest up and get back here. Better to maintain than to gain.

Gayle one day at a time. I am trying to lose what I gainned but it is a daily struggle I just can't make it through the days sometime.

Last winter I was drinking a pot of coffee myself just to keep warm. I have changed over to decaf when I am at home. Three times a week when I walk with the girls I have 2 cups of regular.

Nothing really new here...... Just working ALL the time! This time of the year kills me working two jobs, cleaning,cooking & washing!! Some days I feel like I'm gonna lose my mind! :lol:

Gayle.......... I know how hard it is to get back OP!!! I also KNOW you can do it because you've done so good in the past!! Don't give up!! Hang in there! It's especially hard this time of the year! With Thanksgiving next week and then Christmas, it's so much harder!!! I've slacked off a lot but by the 1st of the year, I'll be OP more then ever!!!! Have you tried the BREW yet...or is it time? Hey Vickster! Glad your back!!! I know, I know, you wouldn't be able to take MIL on the cruise with ya... she would be flirting with all the guys.... ;) What is meiners disease? Is it serious?

Sher: thanks for the pep talk. I guess I need to just face reality that I will always have an issue with food. I wonder why I gain weight, then I sit back and think about how much I really have ate. The good Lord did not bless me with thin genes, so I guess I just need to work harder at staying away from the bad stuff. But why does it have to taste soooooooo good? :cbg:

We still need to wait a week before we can sample the brew. I mixed up a gallon of wine tonight, if all goes well, it should be ready to sample by Christmas. It's a mix from Canada that included everything except the sugar. Steve ordered me one of the "professional" mixes and it should be in this week. I plan on mixing it up and having it ready to bottle on New Years. Cheers! BTW: I will be making 5 gallons of the stuff!

Another day on plan!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!:drill: :tape: I need to keep my act together so I can fit into something Thanksgiving day!!!

I forgot to tell you something.My Mom has made WINE in the past.When she's done, she puts a balloon on the lip of the jug.When the wine is ready, the balloon POPS!!! Cool huh???

Sher, I remember my folks making wine when I was a kid. They used grape juice concentrate, sugar and yeast. Stuck it in a glass bottle with a balloon on the top. I remember watching the balloon go up and down... I don't know how my family lived without getting botulism sp? or something... no preservatives, sanitizers, nothing. I remember it tasted like a strong, cheap wine. The balloon is for the release of the gases that build from the yeast "eating" the sugar. You can also just stick a piece of plastic wrap secured with a rubber band over the top,then poke a tiny hole in it with a pin. The gas needs to release, otherwise you will have a huge mess!!! This recipe did suggest that when I think it is done fermenting, to place a balloon on the top for a few days. If it does not expand, then it is ready to go. Everyone stresses to really make sure your wine is fermented well. If you place it in the bottles and cork and it is not done, you will have bottles exploding everywhere! What a mess! :lol:

I was browsing through all the threads and found my self here maybe the word floozie caught my eye :lol: well any how's I put my vote in on the coffee thing NOPE don't touch the stuff never have HOWEVER soda was my morning coffee actually i used to drink 2 liters of the poison a day that is up til 10 months ago I finally called it quits because it hurt my stomach to much and has eaten away my throat lining well now i can't even take a sip.:smug: everyone used to say get off the soda and you'll see the pounds just drop off HA! HA! HA! nothing left these thighs. Oh well it do feel better about breaking that horrorible habit now i'm working on lowering my carbs well girls and (guys if there's any out there) i'll stop chatting and catch you all later.

And remember that chocolate cake can be pounded into a huge pile of musshy goo instead of you eating it and gaining a pound or two.:yikes:

Vickie, I'm glad you are feeling a little better. I was diagnosed with Meniere's Disease several years ago. I was driving my kids to school one day and ended up in the ditch when everything went upside down and I couldn't get my bearings. I take a diuretic daily to keep the fluid from building up behind my ear drum. It can be a very scary feeling. Take care of yourself.

Dee, how is your mom doing? How about the kids?

I hope everyone else posts today. We need to hear from each other. Of course, Gayle's probably sampling her homemade brew. We may have to see if she is wearing a party hat and dancing around the house!:lol: :dizzy: ;) :o

Girls, I've been sitting here all day reading recipes for Christmas goodies. I love Christmas, but I sure dread all the temptations it brings with it. Strength, give me strength!:tape:
I have my tree up and house all decorated. Hubby flies to San Antonio in 12 days. He will ride back with ds after graduation. Just 13 more days until I get my hands on him!!!!!
A year is just too long to go without seeing your children! I found out this week that if he isn't deployed right away, he will probably be working with the Secret Service. I thought that was kinda cool!

Dee- I'm around, I am just depressed being on this Prednisone and having gained 3 lbs. I really hate this. I was so upset that I couldn't jog yesterday, that I ate a big bowl of salad and now I'm paying for it today.

Nope, not sampling the brew yet, another week on the beer. My wine won't be ready until Christmas. I should be getting in all of my equipment and supplies the first of the week to make my 5 gallon mega batch!!!!! The oldest turns 18 this coming week and a soon to be 4 year old. I'm 39, married to a FABULOUS guy and I am a stay at home mom. I have lost and regained weight over the years... lost several pounds, maintained about a year, now starting to pack them back on....

Ramona: I bet your house looks great! I want to do Christmas decorating this weekend or right after Thanksgiving! My husband likes to wait until 2 weeks before, but I talked him into doing it early this year.

Well, another day down!!! I did a little Christmas shopping today. Actually, I have just a few gift certificates and two more gifts to buy and I will be finished with the two daughter birthdays 11/30 and 12/18 plus all of my Christmas for families!!!!!!!!! Did I ever tell you guys that I collect Nativities? I try to get one a year, so far I probably have about 8-10.

Hi guys!! I've been up since 3AM, planning to either walk or jog. Had some coffee, walked down to get the paper, then didn't make it back to the bathroom!! I am going to try anyway to go out at least down my block a few times---that way I'm within a mile of home if an accident occurs. It is so nice and cool out--about 50 degrees.

Believe it or not, Chanukah is next Friday!!! I have to go out shopping today for the girls. I can't spend much---I am going to have to not go over $300.00 or $400.00. It's going to be tough!! I am going to get 1 of the girls a cheap VCR--she also wants a Pilates tape, and I already got her The New York City Ballet Workout tape. You can guess---it's my dancing daughter that wants these!! I think I'll also pick her up some thigh- high leg warmers and a couple of other dance things to total up 8 gifts (1 for each night.) The other one will be harder. I'm thinking of a cheap digital camera for her big gift, then some makeup and hair stuff for the other nights. She wanted that Revo styler advertised on TV, but as curly as her hair is, I don't think it would work. Any ideas anyone???? I hate Chanukah being so early!!

Going to in-laws tomorrow for an early Thanksgiving:( I really don't feel like being with them when I am depressed. They just make it worse!!

Thanks Sherry I just hated to post to everyone and have it all deleted before read. You asked if we still have snow, well I am afraid to say it is here to stay. I am dreaming of warm tropical winds and sandy beaches. Yesterday we had freezing rain and it made it so slippery out that we didn't even go out today because it was to dangerous. Your the little energizer bunny you just keep on going. lol Your thanksgiving dinner sounds just like the one we had. Yummy. Is thanksgiving for you guys on friday or monday?

Debbie how are you doing? Are you keeping on program? I bet your little grandbabies are growing. Enjoy every moment that you can get withthem.

Ramona I am so happy that you will have both your boys home. Your place sounds very christmasy. We will start to decorate next week. Cherish the time that you have with your boys. I love bargins too. I don't like to buy something unless it is on sale.

Shelley the gifts you picked out the girls sounds lovely. Doesn't sound that lean to me. I think that they are very fortunate to get the gifts that you are giving them. Gayle wow that is great that you are just about done your shopping, even with the 2 birthdays too. I like to get mine all done by nov 25. I don't like the crowds. Soon I will be wrapping all of the gifts. This year I bought a big roll of brown paper, plaid ribbon and made some ginderbread ornaments for the gift tags. The gifts will look simple but country. By the way we are bottleing out wine this weekend. Our kit makes 30 quarts.

Just to let you know how mom is doing. Her blood clots are almost all gone. She was off of blood thinners for a few days this week because her blod was to thin but now she is back on them. I guess that it is something that they really have to watch closely. Her infection has improved slightly. They have decided to keep her on the same meds and see if it goes away this week. She will see the cancer clinic next week to see if she can resume her chemo.
My sister Gail is doing ok. Financial it is hard because she just got a part time job at a pig farm. Yeah she is a farmer. She loves horses. So far no trouble with her husband.
The kids are doing better. We still have some very stresful times but it is improving. Jay had finally realized that if he is to stay that he needs to be responsible for some of the shores around here. No free riding any more. Dez needs to be more respectful and call home when she is out and let us know where she is. Both the kids are good kids for teens. They don't do drugs( just tried it a few times) and they don't drink. Dez hasn't had a boyfriend yet and hse is 16. Jay has one girlfriend since january, so things could be much worse. I guess the biggest problems we have with them is respect and responsiblity. Big things in my book that I think are very important.

Dee: Thanksgiving here in the staes will be Thursday. Several eople have to go ahead and work on Friday. Friday is also our biggest shopping day of the year, of which I try to advoid like the plague!!! :lol: What kind of wine kit do you use? Brand, white or red? If you don't mind, can you tell me some of the equipment that you use and the process you go through? Do you keep it in the house? I am currently fermenting a 1 gallon bottle, but later this week, I should be getting in a glass carboy and a 5 gallon wine kit. This is my first go around, so any information is appreciated!!!

Shelley: I hope your getting the shopping done!!!! We usually do a $80-$100 santa gift per kid, then about 4-5 other small gifts. Birthdays being the same month, we try to keep it at $20-$25 for each kid. I try to buy throughout the year to help out with the budget. How about even a gift certificate to a music/book store? I usually toss one of those in, you can get one for $10-$15. I even went to our local Dollar tree store, purchased a basket and loaded it with cosmetics and skin care items. looked like a nice gift for the $10-$15 spent. I am the "queen" of thriftness, if you need any other suggestions, just hollor!!!!

I spent the weekend decorating the house for the holidays, tree is up and so pretty! Hubby still needs to do the outside lights. I counted and I have 13 nativities! From small solid pieces to larger figures. This year I left most of my decorations boxed and just set those out.

I think I'm all finished with my Christmas Shopping. I have some of them wrapped and under the tree.

Shelley, you've really been on my mind a lot lately. I wish there was something I could say to make you feel better. I'm sending lots of good vibes to you this weekend. I hope your depression lifts soon. As far as gift ideas, I wouldn't have the faintest idea what to buy for girls. I have 2 sons and 5 nephews!

I really let my husband off the hook this morning. He keeps asking what I want for my birthday. He HATES to shop. I was watching QVC this morning and saw and item I wanted so I ordered it. I infomed him he could just relax now....made him very happy! LOL

Oh yeah, we have a Hannah's Candlemart here and it is going out of business. I got garlands and wreaths with the "sugared" fruit on them and a whole basket of the individual fruits for next to nothing. I used them in my living room where my big tree is. I'm going to put a smaller tree in the den. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE a bargain!!!!!!
