Red - I hate forced no exercise. You will feel better soon and get back to exercising. Like you, when I'm unable to exercise, I tend to eat as if I were exercising. As for logging...why don't you try something like fitday.com or my personal fave myfitnesspal.com Both have a fairly big database of foods, so you don't have to guess at the calories.
I went to State Fair yesterday and did A LOT of walking, and I managed to avoid all the deep fried foods. I did have a sugared soda. DH bought it for me...and I wasn't with him at the time. 64 ounces of water - 9 days complete, 0 pauses allowed 4 servings of fruits/vegs - 9 days complete, 2 pauses left 30 minutes of exercise - 7 days complete, 1 pauses left No sugared soda - 7 days complete, 1 pause left |
Well, I accomplished both challenges and my goal today. It was absolutely hellish. It's so hot and no relief anywhere. I tried going to a convenience store for the air-conditioning for a bit but it didn't help much. I was able to stuff mega calories and fat into me at Mac's but didn't. That was a major save!!
diyana, thanks for the encouragement. And good for you for staying away from that lethal deep-fried stuff. Too bad your husband isn't more supportive. Doesn't he know you're trying not to drink soda? The computer things are a big turnoff for me and impractical since I'm not at the computer that much and I'd forget before I could log it in anyhow. Besides, I prefer analog. Give me a notebook and pen anyday. Also there is no way I can figure out packaged meals like I suck up at the convenience stores. Besides, I'm in Japan and the Web things aren't made for here. No, I just need to do what I need to do. I can and do use things like fitday when I want to check a calorie count and then I keep a favorite list in the notebook. At least things here now are starting to have calories listed on packages. Today I had more saves in that I forced myself to read the calories on all the things I was contemplating and rolling around in my hands at the supermarket and convenience stores. I put everything down and even one thing back after I had decided to get it. Then I decided on something that I thought would satisfy my "need" for junk and had only that. All in all, a heII (can't believe they didn't allow that word, how utterly pathetic.) of a day but I got through fairly unscathed! Tomorrow is my birthday, right in between the atomic bomb dropping.....yesterday was Hiroshima, Tuesday is Nagasaki. Well, I NEED, NEED, NEED some good things to happen soon. Wish me well, please! |
Red - Congrats on accomplishing your challenges and your goals!!! Good job for avoiding Mac's. As for the sugared soda...it's not my DH's fault. I've only recently put the kabosh on sugared soda...and a lot of times when we're out in the heat, I drink the sugary stuff to keep my blood sugar from crashing. As for the computer logging....if you have a smart phone...both of those websites have apps. But I was wondering how they would deal with Japanese foods, etc. Most of the measurements on myfitnesspal are in metric. That's good that you're getting calories listed on packages over there. It's definitely helpful. I'm really proud of all your SAVES! Well done!! Happy early birthday, Red!! May you have a wonderful year!!!
|
diyana, thanks for the birthday wishes. Actually, drinking white sugar-laden drinks is exactly what will crash your blood sugar!!! Stay away from it. The initial high is inevitably followed by a crash, worse than what you would have had without it. Even though it's still not good, if you absolutely have nothing to drink, drink 100 percent fruit juice. But really, a piece of fruit is the best. No, no smart phone here. They eat up the battery so fast I couldn't keep it on long enough, not with my being out and about all the time (and no car here). Anyhow, it's just a matter of finding and doing the things I have to do.

Hi everyone! I want to join.
10,000 steps per day Level 1 ~ I jog 5 days a week and easily hit 10,000 but on my rest days I do not usually make it to 5,000 steps. I need to get moving more on my rest days. |
No Beer, Day 6 completed, 1 pause left.
Hula hoop, Day 0, 2 pauses left Calf raises, Day 0 2 pauses left Tri schedule, Day 0, 2 pauses left Well, I made it through 6 days of no beer, thats pretty good I guess. Almost a week. I really want to complete this challenge!! I added my triathlon training to the challenges. I haven't actually written up a plan yet, but for now I think I can tell if I'm slacking. I had better get on a bike in the next couple of days. I plan on a 4 mile run today....On a frustrating note, (and probably the reason people tell you not to weigh in everyday) I am up 4 pounds. 4!! Happy Birthday Red!!:bday2: I'm sure good things will come your way soon. Just remember you have some control and feeling better about yourself physically will have a snowball effect!!! Sounds like you are doing well diyana! Don't despair over 1 soda! You walked off the cals and thats what pauses are for anyway.;) Welcome envelope! |
OK, I made the mistake of weighing myself again and I am up another 2! That is a total of 6 in 24 hrs. I am officially the heaviest I have ever been.(except when pregnant of course.) I'm sure it's something temporary, but it is freaking me out right now.
|
Happy Birthday Red:bday2you:
|
10,000 steps day 2 completed, 1 pause left.
I had to go walk a 5K tonight to get up to 10,000 steps. Hopefully when school starts back up this will not be quite so hard on my rest days. |
Apple, girlie, thank you!!! :thanks:
Welcome, envelope!! :welcome: |
Happy Belated Birthday, Red!! I hope you had a really nice day!
Gang, I'm really sick. My throat is so sore and feels like it's swollen almost shut. I have an awful cough and no voice. I'm going to try and get to the doc today. I'm taking some pauses on my challenges...or I'll probably just start them over when I am over this crud. |
No Beer, Day 7 completed, 1 pause left.
Hula hoop, Day 0, 2 pauses left Calf raises, Day 0 2 pauses left Tri schedule, Day 1, 2 pauses left so far, my tri schedule is simply do each sport 3 times a week. I might fine tune it once school starts and my schedule settles in. My weight is back to normal today, that was crazy but I still don't want to ever see that number on my scale again!!If I'm going to have a 6 pound bloat, then let it be down in the 50's or 40's even. Bleh Hope you feel better soon diyanna! Drink a lot of tea!! |
No Beer, Day 8 completed, 1 pause left.
Hula hoop, Day 0, 2 pauses left Calf raises, Day 0 2 pauses left Tri schedule, Day 2, 2 pauses left Swam and ran yesterday. Have yet to get on a bike. I won't have time today, but I will tomorrow! I know I have to step it up with my eating, or tone it down really;). I tend to do better when DH is working, and he'll be next week, so hopefully we can really get this party started. Hope you are feeling better diyanna. Derry? How are YOU doing? Hi Red & envelope!! |
10,000 steps day 4 completed, 1 pause left.
|
10,000 steps day 4 complete, 0 pauses left.
|
No Beer, Day 9 completed, 1 pause left.
Hula hoop, Day 1, 2 pauses left Calf raises, Day 1 2 pauses left Tri schedule, Day 3, 2 pauses left Well, I got on the bike today, AND I went swimming. I took a nap later on....I had a big dinner last night but still stayed at my calorie limit. Small drop in weight but who knows. It could, and probably will, be back tomorrow. My 7 year old has called me fat twice in 2 days. Once he said "wow, you're fat. Fatter than I even thought!!" That just makes me feel so good. (sarcasm) My husband never says anything about my weight, but the kids sure can be blunt. AH well, more fuel for the fire.... Keep stepping envelope! Does it count if you just march in place while you watch TV or something, or do you actually have to be going somewhere? |
Apple, I think your 7-year-old is in serious need of some serious "training!" For his own good. :lol3: Then again, the fact that he thought you were thinner is a good thing, right? ;)
Sorry, people, I've been sick, still am. Can't hear, ears are clogged, must be an infection. Need rest. But, feeling much better than I did last week (when my ears were better though....) envelope, good for you! :drill: Forward, March!!!! Hang in there all! |
No Beer, Day 9 completed, 0 pauses left.
Hula hoop, Day 2, 2 pauses left Calf raises, Day 2 2 pauses left Tri schedule, Day 4, 2 pauses left Scale down this morning! Had a beer... Well, just one.... Hope you are feeling better Red, and diyana too. Where are you Derry? |
10,000 steps day 5 complete, 0 pauses left.
I am posting early, bc I already had my 10,000 in after my jog this morning. :) Sometimes kids say things just to see what our reactions will be. |
Thanks, Apple, ear is still clogged. I don't feel so bad though. diyana, how are you doing?
|
No Beer, Start over
Hula hoop, Day 3, 2 pauses left Calf raises, Day 3 2 pauses left Tri schedule, Day 5, 2 pauses left Well, what can I say. DH restocks, had evil food for dinner that just screams out for beer and.... There is a silver lining though, lately I have noticed that I can't drink a lot of my favorite type of beer (IPA), it's better to just savor one. So thats a start in the right direction. I ate a lot yesterday too, but burned a lot of cals running and swimming. According to my loseit program I came in under my limit. Thats another , because it really doesn't make much sense eating that much and still being on program It's simple math I suppose, but I think the human body is a little more complicated than that. So I am hoping to cut back a bit today to be safe. Hope everyone is feeling better. Derry, please come back!!! |
Hi everyone, I would like to join too!! What a great idea this is!
My goals are going to be: No eating after dinner, 64oz water or green tea/day, and do a half hour of cardio every day. Starting Monday, lol, I'm still officially on holidays until then :) |
Sorry I've been away. battling bronchitis since tuesday...and on strict bed rest and too tired/weak to get on the puter. All challenges stopped. Am hoping to be up and around by Monday or Tuesday...so I'll get back to it then.
Apple - bummer about the 'bad' food your DH bought. Stay strong, sista. Welcome MerlotMe! hope everyone else is doing well...it's back to bed for me. |
No Beer, Start over
Hula hoop, Day 5, 2 pauses left Calf raises, Day 5, 2 pauses left Tri schedule, Day 6, 1 pauses left Had a really bad week end, as you can see. No self control AT ALL. I took a pause on the tri schedule, but I'm wondering if I should have a rest day scheduled anyway. I still haven't written out an "official"schedule... I am going to work out a lot these next 3 days and keep the cal count a bit lower than usual to make up for the evil week-end. I hope everyone else did all right and still on challenge! |
10,000 steps start over ... I felt horrible yesterday after my long jog and today. I have not even looked at my steps, but I know that I did not get near 10,000.
|
Oh, wow, everyone, sorry I've been AWOL again. Had to go to the next page to find the thread. I have had a very hairy week or so. Let's hope I can find some semblance of sanity soon!
|
Sorry I've been AWOL too. I'm still recovering from bronchitis. I'm back at work...though just sitting at a computer all day is knocking the stuffing out of me. I'm exhausted by the time I get home. Doc says no working out 'till next week at the earliest....so I'm trying to make the best possible food choices.
Right now...my biggest challenge is breathing....so for the next 21 days, I promise to breathe. No pauses allowed. |
diyana, that sounds awful. I know what bronchitis is like, had a very bad bout some years back. I do hope you can get better soon. Rest, as much as you can afford to get, is necessary to knock down the infection. Eat only good food and try to let your body use its energy for healing, not digestion! Get well soon!!
I'm trying to head out to the gym now before work. First time in a long time. I have been sick too with I don't know what but I think too some kind of infection. I had really been overdoing it at the gym on top of NOT taking care of myself. I was eating garbage and doing other nasty things....trying to get back on track! |
Thanks for coming back, Red.
I've been doing something on my own but I am pleased to announce that I am on DAY 10 of keeping a weight loss tracker and journal. Have found a great book called 100 Days of Weight Loss http://www.amazon.com/100-Days-Weigh...4189400&sr=8-1 Not sure if that link will work. It's very thought provoking. I think it's helping me. I start off great and lose momentum all the time. This is a continuance, in a way, of my last challenge here about awareness. I'm actually still kind of on that, but using this book. I'm bringing fourth my vision of what I want to achieve with each day. I'm not being a perfectionist, but I am more determined than I have been in a long time. |
Derry - 100 Days of Weight Loss is a great book. I started it a year ago...and then life or some such nonsense got in the way. I have to dig out the book and workbook/journal and start my own 100 days again.
|
derry, glad to hear you're still working on things and sorry for the absence. Time to start a new thread, I think, but that will have to wait another day or so. Before 6 a.m. now and have to leave soon. I laid off sugar in a big way yesterday, though it was "forced on" me twice with freebies from the office and a package waiting for me when I got home. I got the the gym for the first time in a long time. I've been sick and still am iffy. Don't know what's wrong but my life has been so hellish that if I weren't sick it would be amazing. I just have to take care of myself. Never had such problems with that as I do now...
diyana, are you feeling better? |
Hi, I'm still around too, lets start a new thread and get a fresh start!
|
Ok, Apple, will do....
|
new thread?
I checked and didn't see a new thread started, so I guess I will post here.
I'm not on Day 14. I'm on a roll. During the days I have read my book, I have tracked my food and I have been honest with myself. That darn scale has not done all that much, but I have kept my mind on the goal and the program. I realize that immediate results are just not available to me, it takes hard work and perseverance in order to reach that goal. I finished my weekly tracker yesterday and start a new one today. I managed to stay within the guidelines of the WW program for one entire week, that is amazing for me, so I am truly getting on track. I hope to finally get back to a WW meeting tomorrow and step up on that scale and accept the end result. Don't know if there will be a loss, according to their scale and my last weigh in with them, but I know in my heart that I am doing the right thing and working hard. ;) |
Sorry, give me a bit more time for the new thread. Please just continue here for now.... :^:
|
I'm still here....not signing up for any challenges yet as I'm still trying to get back my energy. Today is the first day that my lungs are a little less tight. Still have NO energy. I'm eating healthy...but not moving much at all except for trips to get water and go to the rest room.
|
Day 16
Still committed. Still working.
|
Hello, I'll start a new challenge soon!
I'm not in a happy place right now. It kind of sucks... |
derry, good for you for hanging in there. Apple, I hear you and I'm the same. Haven't had this kind of unending mess for so long. Really don't know what's going on.....nothing I do seems to help the situation. It's like a curse was on my life....hope we can pull out. Hope whatever is happening in your life will lift soon....diyana, glad to hear you seem to be on the mend. get well soon!!
|
New Thread Is Up!!!
STOP!!! Do NOT post here! A new thread is up...
Please go over there and continue as usual....but with renewed and added ENERGY!!!! I'll be joining you. :cheer2: See you there! http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/supp...ehind-you.html |
