Lose It! Log, Day 4, 2 pauses allowed
Day 4 is usually a milestone in diet land. I hear most people have quit by now. I went over the calories yesterday, but I'm on target for the week. No loss yet though. I've noticed that even though I try to weigh myself at basically the same time every day, my weight really zig zags, 2 pounds uo, 2 pounds down. Twice I have weighed my self before and after running, and once it was a 4 pound diff, the other was 1 1/2. Hopefully that zig zag will develop a downward trend.;) |
Lose It! Log, Day 5, 2 pauses allowed
Whoa, totally NOT watching what I eat today. And no exercise. Logging it was a cruel dose of reality. No wonder I'm 35 pounds over weight.:( |
Lose It! Log, Day 8, 2 pauses allowed
Well, I am logging in daily and it is scary how bad a bad day can be. This wek I have decided to do an experiment in calorie restriction, hopefully just to get things moving in the right direction. So far, so good. I also started boot camp again. Why, oh why??? But I am determined not to have it be a waste of time. OK, hope everyone is well. :) |
Lose It! Log, Day 9, 2 pauses allowed
I was afraid I might not be strong enough to handle boot camp this morning, but I was fine. I'm not supposed to be exercising during this 5 day jump start thingy I'm doing, but i paid for the Boot Camp so I'm going!! This afternoon might be tough because I'll have to go about 5 hours before I can eat dinner. Hope I can stay in control. I might have a smoothie or something since the exercise allows for more food. Hello out there! |
Hang in there, Apple Blossom. :bravo: for doing bootcamp and a 5 day jumpstart!
|
Lose It! Log, Day 10, 2 pauses allowed
TOM had to strike, just when things were going fairly well. I cheated on the 5 Day Fast Forward, but still stayed below the limit so I guess it was OK. Today I wasn't even hungry so it was also OK, but I did make a few not so healthy choices. I was supposed to go out to lunch, but it didn't work out. I stuck to plan instead. Yay me. One more day, although I have an event to attend tomorrow evening and I probably won't be having a salad! ;) Thanks for checking in Diyana, been feeling lonely here! |
Lose It! Log, Day 12, 2 pauses allowed
Man, TOM stinks. I have lost control, but I will try to catch myself before I fall too hard. From what I have been reading on the forums over at Lose It!, a lot of people recommend NOT eating back the exercise calories. I think I'm going to take that advice, since my metabolism seems slower than most. There are also ways to adjust the data to figure out the best formula for weight loss. I'm going to have to do some tinkering I guess. Keeping the thread alive chicks! |
Hi! I am new here! My name is Abby I am 21 years old. I am married and we just had our first son march 11. I have a bunch of goals but I am trying to just do them one at a time. I was reviewing all of my other countless attempts at weight loss/lifestyle change and I think my problem is that I get in the mood and change way too much all at once and then one I mess up one thing I just say oh to **** with it all...
So today will be day 3 of eating vegetables. I am not a vegetable eater by any means. But I want my son to grow up healthy and I want him to like vegetables and I believe kids learn with they live. day 1-edamame day 2-skillet zucchini day 3-green beans Apple blossom, I am going to check out that website right now! Hope you guys are all doing well!! |
Lose It! Log, Day 13, 1 pauses left
I took a pause day yesterday. I guess I could have figured out what I ate in a rough way and logged it, but it wasn't pretty, so I didn't. I guess I have to summon the courage to weigh in today. TOM is just about over, so I don't have that excuse anymore. I think I gained everything back though. I'm really hoping to see the 160's by the end of the month. That would be great. Hi Abbysue! Deffinately check out LoseIt!. It's really helping me to see how the calories add up! (its also an app for iphone or iwhatever) Good idea to challenge your self with veggies! I know I don't eat enough of them myself, nor do my kids. Every now and then I try to get them to eat 5 different vegetables in one day. We can usually do it! Please keep posting with your progress! I've been a bit lonely here on this thread! |
day 4- leftover skillet zucchini and salad for lunch!
Apple Blossom, I checked out that website but they don't take into account breastfeeding so I don't think its going to work for me right now, but it is a neat website. I'm surprised more people aren't on this thread!! |
day 5- salad for lunch and half of a cut up cucumber with vineger and oil as a snack.
planning on making some sort of vegetable with dinner as well! Its a lot easier than I imagined so far. Im realizing that when you actually plan on eating them and research different ways of preparing them that its even enjoyable! |
I was part of the last 21-day challenge and I want to join back up again.
The last one led to me developing a habit of eating breakfast every day. I regularly skipped breakfast to sleep in that extra few minutes and usually went many many hours without eating. But now making a bowl of cereal/yogurt/fruit/a smoothie has become part of my morning ritual. And this has been going on for a few months so I think it's safe to say that this habit is sticking around for good. Since I was so successful last time, I'm going to try a different thing. My goal is... Exercise in one way or another as planned. Usually this is 5-6 days a week, but it varies depending on my schedule. The point is to stick with the plan and not make up excuses to skip out on exercise, especially running (oh how I hate running). So I'm at Day 0, with 3/3 pause days still left. Here's to hoping this goal works as well as the last one! |
Lose It! Log, Day 14, 0 pauses left
Oops, forgot to log in yesterday. So no more pauses and 7 days to go! I have to admit I haven't bee trying too hard lately. I need to get my grove back. Really want to get below 170 by the end of the month. 10 more days, with Easter and a birthday in that time frame. :o Hi augeremt, welcome back! I'm glad your breakfast challenge worked so well!! Hope you can get into the exercise habit too! Abbysue, breastfeeding was a great help for me to lose the baby weight. It'll never be that easy again! I was able to go almost a year and a half with my 3rd baby, but the calorie burn definitely tapered off towards the last half. Hope you are having fun with the little one. |
day 6- cucumbers and salad
day 7- cucumbers for snack and there is going to be bell peppers in dinner and cauliflower poppers on the side today was my weigh in day and i am at 286.5 so thats a 1.5 pound weight loss this last week. I am doing my best not to be bummed out about it. I know its still a good number and even I were to lose that slow for the whole duration thats still a really good loss. Im just used to seeing such drastic results when I start to lose weight. But I have always been doing it in not the healthiest of ways. I know the slower that it comes off the more likely it is to actually stay off. And 1.5 is a really good number. I guess im just trying to say it enough so I believe it. augeremt- thats going to be my next habit is good old exercise! Keep up the good work. apple blossom- I am enjoying the little one. Its amazing how something so little can be so powerful and just put your whole life into perspective. |
day 8- bell peppers, mushrooms, and onions in lunch
day 9- roasted broccoli. I put way too much lemon juice on it so it was not very good. I ate it anyways but don't think I will be trying it that way again. |
Looks like we lost the thread for a few days. Anyone out there?
I came close to finishing my last challenge, but didn't quite make it. It is really hard to log calories when they go way over the top. So I would start out really good, but by the end of the day I'd be to embarrassed to log anymore. So, I went to the Dr. and he upped my thyroid meds AGAIN and maybe I might metabolize a bit better now. My levels had been acceptable, but not optimal. So we'll see. He also wants me to lose weight. And I have to go back to "weigh in" in 3 months. How's that for accountability? Don't want to show up in 3 mos with bad results. So my new challenges are : No Beer (I've been stealthing...so I'm on Day 3), and Post calories on LoseIt!, which I'm on Day 2. Hope there are still chicks checking in! |
well, as soon as I declare the no beer challenge, I give in to temptation. Sigh.
I think I'll start over. Even my Dr. said "only on week-ends!" No Beer, 2 pauses allowed, Day 0 LoseIt log, 2 pauses allowed, Day 3 |
No Beer, 2 pauses allowed, Day 1
LoseIt log, 2 pauses allowed, Day 4 |
Still alone here I see....I had to take some time off due to a stomach flu that just about the whole family got. Nice thing about being sick is the weight loss;)
I actually dropped below 170. I wish I could say that was permanent, but now its TOM, and although I haven't been eating much, I certainly don't FEEL any thinner, which is what it's all about, right? So I'll start up again I guess. No Beer, 2 pauses allowed, Day 3 LoseIt log, 2 pauses allowed, Day 0 |
Apple!! I may be able to come back now. Just peeked in for the first time in weeks and saw you here all by your lonesome. Thanks for sticking around!! :cheer: I'll be back soon. Good to see you still haven't given up on come challenges. I'll join you!!
|
well.....i guess this wasn't a good time to start back. no one around....
|
still no one around?
|
Hi everyone. I think I really need this to officially help challenge and motivate myself. I have a problem with consistently logging my food, so I challenge myself to log every single bite I put in my mouth for 21 days. I will be using Sparkpeople.
So, tomorrow starts Day 1, Round 1 with 3 allotted pauses. |
Hi Live Laugh Love! Welcome! :welcome: I started this ongoing thread years ago but have been away recently. At the moment, it seems that no one is around, but since you've joined, maybe I'll join you.
|
Thanks Redballoon! I noticed not many people were posting, but I love this idea. It makes me focus on more of a short term goal, which is something I usually have a problem with. Even if no one else contines this thread, I will definitely continue my 21 day challenge.
So, this is Day 1 Round 1 for me and so far is successful. I have logged everything for the day except for dinner, as I do not yet know what is on the menu lol. |
Ok, good luck Live! :cheer: I am rushing to get out. I will start something today too. Don't know exactly what but it will be one of the usual, probably keeping a food journal. I always think I'm doing so much better than I actually am. Perceived Effort does NOT equal Actual Effort!! :lol3:
|
Well, I did start with the journaling and realize that my intake on a busy day is utter crap. No wonder I don't have adequate energy and no wonder my body is looking for more food. I fill it with junk. Ok, blah, blah, Day 1 is done. Now to continue as well as try to up the quality.
Live, how are you doing out there? |
Well, I was watching my eating, meaning I could have recorded it but just didn't write it down. Have been so busy....but I really must write it down so I can see the longterm damage.... :^:
Ok, will try this again.....starting Sunday. |
Hey Red! Good to see you back! I hope life is treating you well!
I just wandered back here because I was thinking about increasing my commitment to weight lifting, and I am going to check the exercise threads for some ideas. Right now I'm just doing a circuit routine with hydraulic machines and I think I would prefer something where I can have more control over how much I can lift. I also gained back a few puonds from the flu. The only thing I've really been sticking to is the running, although I need to run almost 15 miles in 4 days to meet my goal for the month. I should be able to do it, but it's going to be tough. So I don't think I'm going to start a challenge right this minute, but I will start thinking about one! Hi LLL! Hope your challenge is going well! |
Hi Red - I've been very busy, and have also noticed that I tend to eat not-so-healthy foods throughout the day. I have been staying within my calorie range, but I could definitely be using some more filling foods. Today is Day 5, and I used 1 pause day yesterday leaving me with 2 pause days left. I'm hoping to stay in my calorie range for today, but it will be slightly difficult as it is a family BBQ, with not so many healthy foods available. We shall see. Good luck on your journaling!
Hi Apple, good luck with the exercising! |
Hi, Apple, Live! Actually, I like Apple's LLL, so will use that...
Well, things have fallen by the wayside and I am really aghast at my unhealthy lifestyle for a good year now. Junk food, smoking, drinking, less and less exercise. It's so NOT me, really. And I really look and feel awful but don't know whether to attribute that simply to age, or my mental and emotional down-in-the-dumps state or if a lot of that's due to the other. I guess, like everything, it's a combination and now that I'm over the hill agewise, it all shows up so much more...yuck. Sigh. I am so busy right now, juggling 4-5 jobs but still suffering from a severe lack of money because of the months and months with no work.... I really have to commit to a healthier lifestyle so I can pull out of this sludge. I will try to get serious about the journaling for now, since I CAN do that no matter how busy. And not just journaling, but trying to work in "healthy" as well. LLL, you're doing well so far! Keep up the good work! Apple, congrats on the running. Hope you make your May goal. Here, we only have a few hours left before it's June. Wow, where has the year gone? |
Okay, so today is now Day 2 for me. I had a BBQ at a family members house Sunday and forgot to count dinner, so I started over. I've been feeling bad the past few days, with today being the worse so far, but have actually continued to eat healthier foods. I am so proud of myself as when I am sick I usually end up eating fast food (because I just get whatever I am craving when I am sick). Hopefully I will continue on this track. I'm really hoping I will start feeling better by this weekend, as I will be able to start exercising much more often as I will be off of work for the summer!
Red- I also have those days when I look and feel awful, and I cannot attribute it to age as I am only 24, so I know it is because of my unhealthy choices and the stress that I have been under this year. This year was my first time working full time and attending school full time (Grad school). It really took a toll on me this year as I am definitely an emotional eater. I ended up getting to my highest weight ever. So this summer I will really be kicking it into gear. I have 2 summer classes, but no work at all, so I will be spending my spare time exercising. Starting Saturday (if I'm feeling better and not coughing up a lung) I will be exercising 6-7 days a week with various exercises. I will also be home more and therefore will be more in control of what is available to eat. I'm hoping the summer will help me to develop healthy habits. |
Still no challenge, but I am almost done with my running. I just have to run 2 miles tomorrow, before I go to work. Easy-peasy.;)
I did not eat right over the week-end either. Man, I wonder what I'd look like if I didn't at least run. Next time I make it to the gym I hope to try a few new exercises, and after my daughter told me I'm too fat do do a headstand, I am determined to do one daily. I've tried once so far and with my husbands help I made it. I don't intend to be able to do a free-standing one, just a leaning against the wall one. It's hard! I have a lot of weight to support!! Red, I am still in denial about my age affecting my looks & health, but I'm 46 now, so I guess that needs to be factored in. Right now I am having a serious debate with myself regarding my hair which is beginning to gray. To dye or not to dye? I have done very little with my hair all my life, I just trim it now and then, so the hair coloring commitment would be something totally new to me. Meh. Hope all is well with you, Red & LLL! |
Hello! I'm here, been away and been feeling lousy.
So, here is my challenge. Eat to live for the next 21 days. Eat as if your life depended on every bite. Stay on your Weight Watcher program, but make the best possible choices. This is war. |
Hi everyone -
Red - I hope you're doing okay. Are you eating healthier and minimizing smoking/drinking? Derry - I LOVE your "Eat as if your life depended on every bite" because for me, it sure as heck does. Apple and LLL - are you both still doing okay? My challenge: At least 15 min. of exercise every day (walking, physical therapy exercises, water aerobics, ball Zumba, vigorous housecleaning) - biggest requirements: 15 minutes straight, heart rate up and break a sweat. 1 pause allowed 3 servings of veggies every day - 2 pauses allowed 64 ounces of water every day - 3 pauses allowed |
Hi guys. Starting over today, I guess. I lost my way. How many times will I lose my way and come back before I get this right?
Day one. Journal all food. Fruit, veggies before cookies! |
Hey everyone -
Derry - Don't count the number of times you lose your way...as you as you come back, that's all that matters! I had a really good Day 1: 3 servings of veggies every day - 1 day complete, 2 pauses left 64 ounces of water every day - 1 day complete, 3 pauses left 15 min of activity - (housecleaning) - 1 day complete, 1 pause left |
Day two here for me, I plan to journal all food and no cookies shall pass these lips!
Fruits and veggies! |
Hi Derry, LLL, Red and everyone!!
I hope you're all doing well!! I had a really good Day 2 3 servings of veggies every day - 2 days complete, 2 pauses left 64 ounces of water every day - 2 days complete, 3 pauses left 15 min of activity - (housecleaning) - 2 days complete, 1 pause left And I even completed Day 3 already today (Thursday): 3 servings of veggies every day - 3 days complete, 2 pauses left 64 ounces of water every day - 3 days complete, 3 pauses left 15 min of activity - (walking on my lunch break) - 3 days complete, 1 pause left |
Day 3... journal - check! Veggies/fruits - check!
No cookies, but there was birthday cake. : ( What can you do when your uncle turns 87 years old and there is a cake? It was a tiny piece. So, it's not a cookies, but I count if as breaking my efforts. Tomorrow will be day 1 again for me, I guess. |
