Redballoon- thanks for the welcome! And I thought about splitting them as two. But since I log calories on my phone and surf this forum on that same device I decided to lump them. Hopefully I don't regret the decision ;). Big congrats on the smoking by the way. That's an incredibly tough challenge.

Day 2
Yesterday logged every morsel of food and drink. And here I am logging into 3fc. A little over on calories, but everything was logged. For now that's the goal and I'm happy. Hoping for some spot on calorie days though. |
Happy New Year, everyone!!! :celebrate: :newyear: :celebrate:
Here, it's already the second and I have to get off to work soon. Yesterday was a great day. I got to the gym late because of a work-related interview and only had about 45 minutes to train because they closed early. They charged a special fee too because of New Year's but it was worth it. More importantly, I ate really well, even added fresh vegetables (okra) to my curry and cooked brown rice. Ah, if only I can continue in this vein. I wrote everything down too. Hurrah! No smoking -- Round 5 -- 4 days completed Calorie watch challenge -- Day 6 completed ma -- Congratulations on a successful liftoff!! :bravo: Thanks for the congrats on my stopping smoking. When I passed the cigarette machine yesterday, I stopped for a moment and thought about all the money I am saving and moved on with a sense of satisfaction. Keep it coming, logging the intake and checking in here. This time of year is tough, but we are likely to see sudden flurries of activity as people contemplate their New Year's resolutions and the bare(r) days of spring. :lol3: |
Y'all knew I would come creeping back on New Years! I emerged from the holiday chaos with 3.5 more pounds. And I have set a goal to lose it and hopefully 2.5 more by the Super Bowl, which is Feb 6. 6 pounds in one month should be manageable. I've made a few New Years resolutions (haven't we all?) and the main one is to return to vegetarianism. Over the last 2 years or so I have been eating more and more meat and I want to stop. So no meat except on Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. I don't think this will help in anyway on the weight loss front, but I will be paying more attention to my food consumption. I also want to grow more of my own food (planted some onions the other day) so we'll see how that goes. Hopefully that will mean more greens, since that's the easiest thing to grow around here.
As for challenges, I want to try the calorie bank again. I'm going to start on zero this time, subtract exercise, add bad food and beer. I am not sure if I should include all exercise, or just additional to a regular work out schedule. I'm thinking the later, so sticking to the regular schedule will be my actual 21 day challenge. Now I just have to come up with a schedule. We still have a week off from school, so I'll come up with something for when my life settles back down. Until then, just a simple challenge of a daily dog walk. Thanks for listening to me think out loud.:D Red, you are doing so awesomely on your no smoking!!! |
No smoking -- Round 5 -- 5 days completed Calorie watch challenge -- Day 7 completed Apple, Thanks, and welcome back!!! :welcome2: Come on, you can do this! You have a brand new year and months ahead! This is your year to SHINE!! :sunny: |
I'm back... yes its been a LONG LONG time
Hi all! It has been a while since I was on this post but I am back! I love doing these mini challenges, it always kept me on track. I totally fell off the wagon in the last year or two as I've transitioned into my new job, but I'm ready to get myself back on track and put sometime into me again. Here are my first two challenges...
Level 2 Track All Food Eaten On FitDay - Day 1 Level 3 No Fast Food - Day 1 Its always eye opening when I track all my calories on FitDay and usually makes me double think about eating those little snacks throughout the day. No fast food is going to be a hard one for me I work anywhere between 8-14 hours a day and pass about 10 restaurants on the way home that just temp me to pick up an easy (fattening) meal at the end of the day. But I'm going back to pre-portioning meals on the weekends for the week and eating in moderation. So happy to be back and looking to getting to know everyone! :carrot: |
Pink! Hello! I remember you. Welcome back!! :welcome3: Those sound like great challenges. The fast food habit may be difficult to break (but you can do it!!!) but maybe you could ease it by allowing yourself to still go into certain places (as that too is a habit) but you can only buy certain foods. Well, best of luck!! :goodluck:

Starting over... this cold has gotten me down. Round 2, Day 1... I'll get this straight for sure!
|
Walk a dog, Day 1 complete, 2 pauses left.
Calorie bank: 0 So far so good! I made up an exercise schedule to start next week. It includes bike riding and swimming, and if the weather keeps up it is going to be hard to stick to. I can always get in the pool I guess, but it's not safe to bike in the rain! I guess I can always ride the bike at the gym, even though I don't especially like biking & running with out actually going anywhere. So much more interesting to really be doing it. Well NO EXCUSES!!! I need to find my i-pod..... I weighed myself last night and I'm down a pound. I didn't think that weight was going to be totally accurate. But a pound is a pound! Hello Pink, glad to have you back! I like to use fit day too, it really makes you pay attention to everything you eat. Most fast food places have lite options, so if you must, just choose something a bit more healthy. I read about someone who ate at MCD and actually lost weight. (she or he was responding to the movie Super Size Me) Hey there'e some inspiration, watch that movie. I haven't been able to eat MCD french fries ever since. OK, enough rambling on. Have a great day everyone! |
Made it through the day, though already I was getting lax with the food. It's so hard when I go to work. But, I got to the gym as well, even though it was a mad rush.
No smoking -- Round 5 -- 6 days completed Calorie watch challenge -- Day 8 completed derry, I hope you feel better real soon!! :getwell: Apple, you're looking good!! |
Hi ladies! So glad to be back! Love your suggestions! I'm hoping on my 'pause days' if I really do need to grab a quick meal when working late I can aim towards subway or at least other healthy options when I'm in a pinch instead of the junk I usually settle in for a quick meal.
So far so good today... Level 2 Track All Food Eaten On FitDay - Day 2 Completed Level 3 No Fast Food - Day 2 Completed |
Keep going guys!
I blew it yesterday, today is Day 1 again. Still wasn't up to starting again, but I feel better today and am not going to be so busy. So, I re-start again. Apple, I put that movie "supersize me" on my Netflix que this week. I think that will turn me off the fast food/fries for sure. : ) I've heard about it but have never seen it. |
Well, I still "watched" the calories yesterday, watched them pile up that is. I am sick of my lack of consistency over the long run....ah, read that as...over more than three days.
Really, the fat on me is incredible, yet I feel like I'm so fit and muscular. Well, I guess I am, but ****, if I had to run around naked, I could never look at myself. What is this skewed perception I have of myself? Is it because I DO have a lot of muscle and so the excess is evenly distributed over me that I don't realize just how bad it is? I guess that's it. I am built like a tank, really and, when clothed, don't look misshapen, just...yeah, like a tank. Damn, this pisses me off. The moment I feel bad, I start stuffing food in my mouth out of dejection. The moment I feel strong and fit, I start stuffing food in my mouth out of feelings of achievement! WTF?! SOLUTION: STOP stuffing food in my mouth. Ah....duh! I mean, like last night, I was exhausted. Took the bus home and did NOT stop off for fast-food junk, told myself I would get home, shower and INTO bed, because that's all I needed. Then I go out to the convenience store and "celebrate" my not getting fast food with junk food. ???? Well, the calories would have been more than double, but still....so much work and NOTHING to show for it, other than the fact that I would be double my current size if I didn't do it. Well, I guess that's one way of looking at it. What I am now IS a great accomplishment. Other people don't know that, but to **** with them....no, it's not enough. I have to learn to control myself, my appetites and start reaping more reward for my efforts than merely not being totally out of control. Sigh. No smoking -- Round 5 -- 7 days completed Calorie watch challenge -- Day 9 completed ************** Pink, keep it going! :dancer: derry, try, try again. |
I did it today! So, I am officially back on track.
Red, you live alone, right? I wonder if that contributes to a lack of "attention" to eating properly? I was wondering if you ought to try a committment on the weekend or on a day off to buy and cook a few healthy meals and then section them off and freeze them for those busy days when you get home and are just too tired to cook? That might work out for you? I'm often alone on weeknights. My two kids are in college and work, one lives away from home and my husband is on the road 4 days a week. I try to double up on recipes and then freeze lots of choices, or I individually wrap things like boneless chicken breasts that take very little time to cook and microwave rice and a veggie to go with it. You might think about that. I know it's tough. |
derry, yup, you got it. I live alone and I pay NO attention to what I eat, that's the entire problem. Every day is different as far as work, or the lack of it goes. I have no real weekends and all the outside work has NO facilities for eating or doesn't allow it. So, it's just a matter of grabbing things here and there and even that is iffy because I don't know if and when I'll be able to get away from the work to do that (so don't know where I could eat). This leads to me grabbing things just to appease hunger, with nothing brought from home other than maybe a piece of fruit. It's worse now than it ever was. I have to lug everything around in a backpack to get me through the day and there is little if no room for food. It really sucks. What happens is I never really sit down for a real meal, then get too hungry or just graze all day long out of frustration. When I AM home and could make something, it's the last thing I want to do. It just feels like a chore, another thing I HAVE to do, like the work, gym, piano, study etc., and so I just continue in the same mindless ways.
That all said ( moaned) I HAVE to change something or simply give up caring. The latter is not an option. BUT, I am sick of myself and sick of the situation, so something has to change. Because I have never been (believe it!) into food and cooking and restaurants, I am going to have think of it as pure fuel. Though I don't think I can nor want to become like my ripped bodybuilding friend who purees chicken and drinks it and eats sweet potatoes out of his gym bag, I am going to have to learn to get the food and proper nutrition in similar ways. Thanks for your words. They make me think I have to think of ways to make things work for me instead of always being the victim. I am really mad at myself today. |
