Question Woke up 3 pounds heavier

Is it possible to gain 3 pounds in one night!? I am so confused and discouraged. I followed my diet plan for the most part; however, I did have a few things I should not have for lunch at a work luncheon, but I did not think it would make me gain 3 pounds. 1 pound, sure, I understand... but 3? Please help... I feel bloated and have a cold. Does being sick cause bloating?

Aww, I know how discouraging that can be. It sounds like water weight. Keep drinking your water and making good choices and it'll go.
I hope you feel better soon, summer colds are no fun.
Take care,
K

Gaining 3lbs of weight overnight is easy - gaining 3lbs of fat is not.

A sudden gain like that will be water, unless you ate over 10,000 extra calories.

However - and this is going to sound tough, I hope it sounds tough Love - I've learned through my own mistakes that we can't play at this weightloss thing: if we eat things we know we shouldn't, we shouldn't be surprised if we get gains.

Take the lesson, take loads of water, and I hope your cold's better soon.

And congratulations on your loss so far! You are 34%, over 1/3rd of the way towards your goal!

Thanks so much for your quick replies! And Rosinante... you were not harsh at all and greatly appreciate your words of wisdom. I have been drinking water all morning and will continue to do so all afternoon... we will see what happens tomorrow.

Pressing on - holy heck, yes - 3 pounds overnight is nothin'! Just this week, I had a mindless handful of M&Ms, and because of an artificial color allergy, I added 4 pounds in 2 HOURS. Key word there - mindless. When I started this project a year and a half ago, that water weight/inflammation was hidden in extra fluff/water weight/inflammation.

You're doing all the right stuff - flush with water, and go back and see if you can figure out what did it. Sodium will do it for a lot of people, but don't discount a hidden allergy!

Well... it has been a couple of days, but as of this morning I lost those three pounds. I still feel bloated and am wondering if it is something I am eating or air caught by chewing gum (I chew quite a bit throughout the day to curb my cravings). I just don't know.

Gum chewing causes you to swallow more air. If you are chewing SF gum, the sweetener may be causing bloating. Cravings only last about 15 minutes. Get busy doing something else and they will be gone.
