happy2bme 09-01-2009 08:33 AM

Mel thank you for setting up the new thread. I just LOVE your avatar AND your "theme" for this month. VERY CLEVER! :lol3: So witty for a cool and early morning. Now just keep control of the day.

I'm sorry but I tried to remember some things from the last few posts to comment on but lost it while I was transitioning. All I can remember is that gorgeous rose Shad and wondering how it got a name Chocolate. Soooo pretty!

I guess I will try and catch up later. It's the first of a new month, going to try and make some new good habits, the first of which is getting out of the house earlier.

Happy September to all. Gimme a smile, yeah? :D

MELODY525 09-01-2009 08:42 AM

HAPPY~ I CAN'T TAKE THE CREDIT FOR SEPTEMBER'S THEME...I STOLE IT RIGHT OUT OF MICHELLE'S POST!!  IT WAS ONE OF HER WISHFUL THINKING POSTS JUST BEFORE WE LEFT. HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT SMILE TODAY ALSO!

THE DELIVERY WAS CANCELLED :cb: :carrot: :broc:

diyana 09-01-2009 09:02 AM

Happy September ladies -

I'm in a great mood today! Maybe it's the double dose of coffee to start the day, I'm not sure. I went for a short walk yesterday. It felt good to move a little. I then came home and played frisbee and ball with the dogs. My eating was good last night, and I got a good night's sleep, with just one small coughing fit at around 2 am. Today, if I can keep the coughing fits/asthma attacks to a minimum, I plan to walk on my lunch hour while the weather is still nice enough to do it, and then go to the gym after work for a bit of cardio and weights. But I promise, I'll listen to my body and I won't overdo or tax my lungs too much.

Shad - I chuckled at your Baby It's Cold Out There! How cold is it? We are truly having record cold night time temps for this time of year. This morning, it got down to 39 degrees! That's cold. I'm just glad I don't have to scrape the frost off my windshield. :) I'm glad your veges are enjoying the weather. I'm hoping to have all my green tomatoes ripen before the first frost. The Hot Chocolate Rose is lovely! I expected something a bit more maroon though. Hmmmm. Good for you for going walking with Chris! When you say the bush paths...do you mean the "real" bush? Like where it's dry, desert with low shrubs and lots of snakes, spiders, etc...like we see on TV shows? My Handy DH is amazing! He can literally fix EVERYTHING, even if it's something he's never fixed/worked on before. That's why I convinced him to go into Computer Repair/Network Administration over a decade ago...he was building and fixing computers for us...why not get paid for it.

Ceejay - I hope you have a good day at work, and enjoy your 4 days off. Are you doing anything special? Relaxing at home? Going to Paragould? I hope we have lovely fall foliage this year (but not too soon - hehe). We've had a lot of water too.

Mel - I love the theme, and the photo of the woman stretching. Thanks for setting up the new thread. I definitely intend to step it up this month! Thanks for asking about my chest congestion. It's still there, but I'm avoiding going to the doc for an x-ray. He's gonna want to put me on Prednisone, and even though I know that will help, I don't want to go on it because it's way too soon after my cortisone shot for my back...and it would probably preclude me from having another shot in a few months if I need one. Glad that the delivery was cancelled. Hope that means you can relax today!

Happy - Good for you for getting out of the house earlier! :D You're definitely starting the month out right by tracking points, planning meals and all that stuff! Good on ya!!

A big  to Annie, Patty, Ruth, Laura and everyone! Let's here it for a Superb September!

Love and big hugs,

annie175 09-01-2009 09:45 AM

September here we come.......everyone all aboard..choo choo....

Worked my arse off at CVS last night, didn't even take my 15 min break. The customers were constant, don't know who opened the barn doors. Slept till 2:30 then woke up, couldn't sleep, watched Frazier and half of CSI Miami before I could get back to sleep. A bit tired today and work tonight also. Great business for CVS, job security and all, but peeps could you plese stay home tonight.

Chelle...thanks for your good mood this morning, I believe it has rubbed off on me too! Take her easy on the exercise, yesterday's exercise schedule sounded perfect for you.

Happy....enjoy your time off next week. You deserve it. Great egg boiling tip, I actually do use the cold water trick. Ok...you said it, you are seriously starting over, I am going to hold you to it.

Shad...it is nice to have a walking buddy, it always make me want to stick with it more. Kind of motivate each other to go.

Ceejay....sorry we were of no help with the work situation. I just couldn't manage it with my own work situation...hope you enjoy your 4 days off, you deserve it too!

MEL...sorry your "Big Boy" didn't make it for the delivery... you might try "cookie, little boy" it sometimes works. lol WOW....great pix of Chelle to start the thread. When did she have that taken. Last week at weigh in? Thanks for starting the new thread.

Hey to everyone.

Love and Hugs.

diyana 09-01-2009 09:58 AM

Annie - You be careful not to work too hard. You're putting in long hours and not sleeping enough...it's no wonder that your body choose sleep over pleasure last weekend. Yesterday's exercise was fun for me and the doggies...but probably not enough to make a difference at weigh in. I gotta step it up a bit, right? You're too funny about the photo of "me" to start the thread! Someday, sista, I hope to look like that. Right now, I'm just very WELL ROUNDED! The only similarity is the long hair in a ponytail! :lol3:

annie175 09-01-2009 10:03 AM

Chelle...we are what we project....good mood, happy, slim and trim if only in our minds....you will be there soon with the rate you are going. I must say, I am so proud of you and all you are doing to better your healthy life. Don't worry about my sleep ethics....they have been this way since my kids were born. I haven't slept through the night since November of '85 when Sam was born. It used to bother/worry me...now I just live with it. Eventually I will konck out after 3 or 4 nights like that. It all comes out in the wash....

diyana 09-01-2009 10:41 AM

Thanks for the kind words, Annie! You are so sweet. I will work on augmenting my positive attitude with a positive self image as well. I won't worry about your sleep habits. You know yourself best. I just know I don't do well if I get less than 7 hours a night, and since I've had this cold, I've on occasion enjoyed 10 or 11 hours of sleep a night.

Laura705 09-01-2009 11:24 AM

Hello everyone! I was back to work yesterday, trying to catch up. Still working on that. I'll catch up soon here too, just popping in to say hi.

annie175 09-01-2009 12:52 PM

OK Girls...I have a challenge for you all.....I am tired all the time (not from lack of sleep either) it is from eating the wrong foods..carbs, sugars etc. I don't move enough, my mind drops into negative zone more often then I would like, I hate the way I feel in my clothes and I just literally feel like poo....I am up 14 lbs from my goal of 143. Sooooooooo here is my challenge to the Worldlies Girlies........lose 10-14 bs by Halloween. That is 8 weeks and 4 days away. You can chose your own healthy way of eating, your own healthy way of exercising and let's make weigh in day on Thursday to coincide with Chelle's weigh in day just in case she wants in on this challenge. Waddaya say? Who is in? Any other "rules" anyone wants to add? If we start on Thursday, that would be 8 wks and 2 days to lose 10-14 lbs....Please don't tell me I don't need to lose, we all know how we feel in our own bodies. I want/need to do this.

happy2bme 09-01-2009 01:43 PM

Back for an update...

Annie - I am completely with you on the challenge for the exact reasons you specify. We ate "convieniently" while on vacation - processed foods I don't normally eat. And with it came bloat, weight gain (from salt) and a generally malcontented feeling. The only thing I will not do with you is commit to any specific weight loss. I cannot seem to get below a certain set point, I hit it and bounce back up again which really bums me out. So I am losing the scale but am totally focusing on eating clean, good for you foods, logging the food so I can keep track of portions and calories/points and making sure I get daily exercise. Count me on one side of you marching in step. Thanks for suggesting this. I would join Michelle in worrying about your sleeping habits but as you say, you know what is routine for you. It's just with the extra job, I hope you don't get run down. I guess I just have to liquor you up :hat:

 back at you Laura, we'll catch up soon.

39 degrees Michelle? Say it isn't so? that's really pushing the fall season. I opened the door for the cat this morning and thought boy it's getting cool but no where near what you've got. Brisk walking there lady  My DH is like your's - I am completely fascinated that someone can take apart something they never dealt with and get it all back together. I either have left over parts or put it together backwards. Having a house too, it's really great to have someone who's handy around. I sure hope you can get those poor lungs dried out before the winter cold season starts. I snatched a bit of your good mood and you know, it DOES feel good!

MEL - WHEN YOU SAY GATHER THEE NUTS ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT US? :lol3:

DH just called. I sent him to the store to get coffee and he wanted to know where I kept the vases and flower food. He finally told me that he bought me roses!!! I need to take that man on vacation more often :D

Time to get back to work. See yah.

annie175 09-01-2009 02:54 PM

Sounds good Happy...I just want the challenge out there, how we each do it, or by what means is totally up to you. I think if we feel a little accountable, we might even accomplish something...smiles~~~

and yes, the NUTS MEL may be referring to could be us!!

annie175 09-01-2009 02:55 PM

No worries about sleep, no one in the office today, so I crawled under my desk and took a 30 minute honk shu....lol

diyana 09-01-2009 02:58 PM

I went for a 25 min. walk today at lunch...and I'm so glad I did. It was gorgeous out...mid 70s, not a cloud in the sky. The sky was SO blue and clear. What a great day! I came back inside feeling refreshed and energized. I'm so glad to be able to exercise (gently) again! I'm looking forward to getting to the gym tonight.

Annie - I am SO with you on losing 10-14 lbs by Halloween! Thanks for making weigh in day on Thursday - that's very convenient for me! My eating has been good for the most part, with just the occasional slip, but I'm DEFINITELY wanting/needing to get back into an exercise routine!! Did you REALLY sleep under your desk today?

Happy - We're probably going out of town for a bit over Labor Day and my b'day, so I too will have to find ways to eat healthy at convenient places. Yes, 39 degrees! We had record low temps the past two days, and yes, I'm hoping to get my lungs clear before frosty temps. I'm glad to share my good mood with anyone and everyone, especially great friends like y'all! Enjoy! So nice of your DH to buy you flowers!! How sweet!

I gotta get back to work as well. Here's to a great rest of the day for all of us!

ceejay52 09-01-2009 05:43 PM

The challenges sound good. I need to be challenged.

Annie
I promise I will not complain the next 44 hours of over time I have to work. You are working 2 jobs. I fully understand if you are tired. If I could hide from the all seeing eye I might try a nap at work.

Mel
It's okay that you couldn't get down to work for me. I'm just thankful that I have four day's off to myself. Thanks for setting up the new thread.

Hello to all the rest. 1.5 hours till I go home sweet home.

ceejay52 09-01-2009 05:54 PM

I forgot to add that I heard from the test that were ran at the Doctor's office last week. I'm low on potassium again. My blood sugar was high so the nurse asked me if I fasted. I had not. I wasn't expecting blood to be drawn. Good ole stress caused the anxiety attack.

MELODY525 09-01-2009 06:12 PM

WE ALL KNOW THIS STUFF BUT I THOUGHT WE COULD USE A REMINDER BEFORE OUR CHALLENGE BEGINS. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

ANNIE....I AM IN TOO BUT WITH NO SPECIFIC AMOUNT SET FOR A LOSS :ebike: BEAT YA TO CHELLIE'S HOUSE!!!

THE PERFECTIONISM TRAP

By Michael Scholtz, M.A., Best Life fitness expert

It's great to be conscientious about your diet and exercise sessions, but cutting yourself some slack keeps your motivation high. Try adopting an 80/20 approach—strive to make healthy choices 80 percent of the time; this leaves room in your weight loss and fitness programs for setbacks. Here's how to do it:

• Change your thinking. Don't use the words "good" or "bad" to describe food, yourself or your behavior. These words can promote the unhealthy all-or-nothing pattern you're trying to avoid.

• Establish a range for goals. This allows for more flexibility. For instance, "I'll walk 30 minutes four to six times a week" is better than planning to walk everyday.

• Schedule off days. Take a day off from exercise each week. Use the time to focus on a nurturing activity, such as reading or catching up with friends.

• Enlist help. Consider meeting with a nutritionist, trainer, counselor or coach. They can help keep you motivated and also make sure your goals are realistic.

• Cheer yourself on. Place a note in your bathroom, your car or on your calendar to remind yourself to relax.

• Be patient. Nothing causes more frustration than thinking you should be losing faster than you are. Aim to shed up to 1 percent of your body weight each week, but realize that plateaus are part of the journey

Shad 09-02-2009 01:56 AM

Afternoon all,

It's been a bit of a weird day today. I picked up my new hearing aids. I'm getting used to them but it will take a while. After the noise I heard in the mall this morning, there is a good chance I might 'go deaf' into the shopping centres!!
Then I went down to the local hardware store and lo and behold they play music in there. Who knew?
Now the DS2 is shouting at me! So I told him he didn't have to anymore. At last I can hear his witticisms and depth of knowledge!
Miss Puss isn't taking any notice of the no yelling rule in the house.

Annie - I'll take up your challenge. Weigh in on Thursday morning my time. We will see how we go. I've been having a bit of success on Red Balloons challenge thread so we will see how it develops. Here's to success for us all.

Mel - I think all the nuts are gathered for the challenge now I am here. Thanks for that information on perfectionism. I will strive to be just less than perfect.
Thanks also for sorting out the new thread. With the drama of yesterday, I forgot.
Oh yes and Ceejay's rose was called Hot Chocolate. Why I can't tell, it looks nothing like hot chocolate. It's neighbouring rose is much more like chocolate since it is a brown rose but even then it is hot chocolate made with milk. However Hot Chocolate the rose is a superb orange. It's bright. It's the DS2's favourite of all the roses.

Happy - Roses from the DH?? Oh please. The house will be fragrant when you get in.

Michelle - When I say it's cold out there, it means it is under 15C (60F) we do get down to single figures in the depths of winter but only during the night. Anything under 20C (70) and the entire Queensland populations starts getting out the furs and boots.
Glad to hear you got out for the walk. Sometimes it's just great exercise and all you need if you have been limiting calories.

Laura - you'll need some time to get back into the swing of work. Nice to hear from you.

Ceejay - you must be about to embark on your 4 days off. Have a great time. Are you going to Paragould??

I didn't get to walk yesterday with Chris. She rang to say her flu is back and she is not feeling too good. Postponed to Thursday.

Anyway, time to go turn off the hose in the garden. I'll be back tomorrow bright and early - oh yeah :lol3:

happy2bme 09-02-2009 08:12 AM

Good morning all,

Have an early morning dentist appointment today so it's just a quick wave and a salute with the coffee cup. Will have to get on later.

So now you are ready to listen to the world with a keener ear Shad? I imagine part of the "fun" will be learning to filter out all those background noises that were more muffled before. Practice your slightly cocked head and "are you kidding me" look when DS2 proceeds to impart his sage advice

I'm about to head out. Happy humpin' trash day to the chicks.

MELODY525 09-02-2009 08:14 AM

MICHELLE~ YOUR QUOTE I USED FOR THE TITLE MAKES ME LAUGH EVERY MORNING NOW. IT'S SO LONG TO COOPY AND PASTE  I HEAR YA ON THE PREDNISONE ISSUE. KIND OF A DA MNED IF YOU DO SITUATION. HOPE THEY CLEAR UP ON THEIR OWN. KEEPING FINGERS CROSSED.

ANNIE~ I SNAPPED THE PIC OF CHELLIE WHEN SHE WASN'T LOOKING. :belly: BE CAREFUL WITH THE 2 JOBS....I KNOW I KEEP SAYING IT BUT AFTER ALL YOU NEED SOME DOWN TIME AND HEALTHY EATING IN BETWEEN THEM.

LAURA~ DON'T TRY TO CATCH UP...JUST JUMP IN.:swim:

HAPPY~ FLOWERS....HOW NICE OF DH. HE'S A REAL EEPER ISN'T HE? TOO CUTE OF HIM. SO A YURT IS WORTH A DOZEN ROSES?! I MUST REMEMBER THAT FOR MY NEXT LIFETIME! WHEN I GATERED THE NUTS I FIRST THOUGHT OF WALNUTS AND ACORNS...THEN THE SENIORS....BUT NOW YOU MENTION IT...THE WORLDLIES FIT RIGHT IN THERE.

JEANETTE~ HOPE YOU ENJOY THE 4 DAYS OFF. HANG ON TO ALL THE GOOD THOUGHTS YOU CAN THINK OF WHILE YOU GET SOME POSTASSIUM INSIDE YOU AND DE-STRESS :yoga:

SHAD~ HOT CHOCOLATE.....GOOD NAME IN A WAY....BOTH OF THEM ARE COMFORTING!! SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT CHRIS AND THE FLU. THE NEWS CHANNELS ARE ALREADY GETTING READY TO CAUSE A MASS RIOT OVER THE FLU SEASON ON THE TV AND THEY CALL IT RESPONSIBLE REPORTING :faint: THIS MORNING WAS AN INDEPTH COVERAGE OF HOW IT KILLS PREGNANT WOMEN. JUST LOVELY. TURNED IT OFF. HOPE ALL DRAMA IS GONE...I MUST GO BACK AND READ.....GLAD THE AIDS ARE WORKING AND I CAN THINK OF A FEW PLACES I WOULD TURN THEM OFF AS WELL

:cofdate: HAVING SOME TIME WITH JEN. THEN THEY WILL GO BACK TO THE TRAILER AND CLOSE IT UP. GETTING READY FOR THE COOLER MONTHS AHEAD. YESTERDAY WAS RELAXING AND I GOT NOTHING DONE :beach: BUT IT FELT GOOD. I ONLY HAD 2 CALLS AND I PUT A "SICK" SIGN ON MY DOOR. ONLY 2 PEOPLE KNOCKED ANYWAY!:lol3:
HAPPY WEDNESDAY/THURSDAY :moped:

MELODY525 09-02-2009 08:15 AM

HAPPY HUMPING TRASH DAY TO YOU MISS HAPPY AND THE WORLDLIES AS WELL!! I CAN'T SAY HAVE FUN AT THE DENTIST :yikes:

annie175 09-02-2009 08:18 AM

Good Morning and Happy Trashy Hump Day! LOL

Stomach is in a little tizzy think I havta poo and too much caffiene this a.m. It will get better with time...

Work last night was a whirl at CVS, no break, too busy, man customers must have come into some money or something. It is just crazy. The liquor sales are phenominal.

BRB for personals...going to poo now.

annie175 09-02-2009 08:44 AM

D*mn it I just deleted my personals...here I go again...

WHew wee, I feel so much better now.....

Shad...be careful at what you might hear, you might not want to know it. My Grandpa..God rest his soul...used to so gently reach up and turn his aides down when grandma went to b*tchin' lol

Happy...only 50 degrees here this mornin' had to run my heater on the way to work. It did feel awesome sleeping with the windows open last night tho. Happy<---pu intended---> drilling at the dentist this morning.

Chelle...you bet I took a nap under my desk yesterday. Had the space heater going on feet and lower extremities. Awwwwww....You are so on for the challenge...I mean it....

MEL...great perfection piece. We sometimes forget to be easy on ourselves. Maybe the sick sign on your door is the answer to having a "Meliday". You might want to put a "Knockers Beware!" sign on the door too. Not the boob kind of knockers, but the boob idiot kind. lol, sometimes I crack myself up.....

Laura...jump in and take off here.

Not much else going on here. Baby boy comes home tonight. We are going to Shallow's for a drink/dinner to celebrate his 21st bd. They have a stein called "Das Boot" It looks like a huge cowboy boot and will hold the equivalent of about 5 beers. The stein with the beer in it is 23 bucks, then if you take the stein back in there, it is only 10 bucks to refill. I am getting him that plus dinner along with the western shirt, bolo tie and Jagermeister I already got him. I can't wait.

Have a great middle of the week day all y'all.

Love and hugs.

ceejay52 09-02-2009 09:23 AM

I have a four day week end to myself and Mel I'm thinking about putting a do not disturb sign on the door today.
I'm into fall cleaning but am not going to push myself today. It's one room at a time. The kitchen is done. I would like to buy some open shelving to store some small appliances.
I had a chance to sleep in this morning but my internal alarm clock woke me up at 5.30 a.m. sigh! I laid in bed till 7 and had to get up. Decided that this would be a good time to burn some calories so I rode the bike for 15 minutes. I'm making myself go to the gym later this morning for a walk on the treadmill and do some weight machines.
This month is to focus on fitness and routine. I'm with Happy on not setting a pounds loss goal.
My little sister called me Monday night. She was bubbling over with joy. Her oldest son and his girlfriend are expecting a baby. They are bothe 29. I told her that he sounded very excited about something, but he didn't tell me Saturday when he called to wish me a happy birthday. I have been expecting her to tell me about her middle son and his wife. I feel it in my bones that it will not be far behind.

Happy
Hope things go well at the dentist. I finally made my appointment on the 24the of September.

Mel
I liked the article on perfectionism. That's one of my bad traits when it comes to dieting. I get burned out very easy because of it.

Shad
My favorite rose is the peace rose, but roses have to be my favorite flower.
Hope your friend feels better.

Annie
have fun celbrating with your son. I didn't know that CVS sold liquor. My friend who works in the light office hates the first through the third of the month. That's when Social Security checks and welfare checks come in.

Michelle
Good for you in taking that 20 minute walk at lunch. I might try taking a walk outside tomorrow. It's really been nice this week.

Laura
Glad you are back from vacation.

Breakfast is calling me and I need to get on with my day. Have a good one every one.

diyana 09-02-2009 09:57 AM

hey everyone -

Just a super quick check in....my piles at work just keep getting taller...and I'm too short to see over them! :lol3:

I walked for 1/2 hour at lunch yesterday, then went to the gym for 1/2 hour of cardio and 1/2 hour of weights. Because of my lungs, I kept the intensity down a bit. Of course now, my legs and back are saying I may have done too much. Why can't my body parts tell me I might be overdoing it at the time? :dunno: I'm sure I'll be fine after the muscles loosen up a bit. So far so good on the lungs though...just the stupid occasional nagging coughing fit!

Love and hugs,

annie175 09-02-2009 10:02 AM

Chelle....and why don't our body parts tell us we are working too much and need to take a vacation?? LOL

annie175 09-02-2009 10:23 AM

Why is it when you are trying to be good, all you can think about is food. So I thought I would come here and type/babble about a big bunch of nothing, rather than eat. You don't even have to read this post. I am just keeping my mind and hands busy. I may have to sit here and type all day long. Nellie has agreed to go for a walk with me at lunch to keep me occupied for that bit of time.

annie175 09-02-2009 11:26 AM

:)OMGOODNESS...GRAND NEWS....MOM FINALLY GOT ALL OF HER TEST RESULTS BACK....HER KIDNEY'S ARE NOT DETERIORATING. SHE HAS TOO MUCH ACID IN HER SYSTEM/KIDNEYS. THE DOCS GAVE HER A SCRIPT SHE TAKES TWICE A DAY TO RID HER SYSTEM OF THE ACID. THIS SHOULD ALSO HELP WITH THE RIGHT SIDE PAIN SHE HAS HAD FOR OVER A YEAR. YES, I COULD SHOOT THE DOC THAT PUT US THROUGH ALL OF THIS, HOWEVER THE BRIGHT SIDE IS SHE SHOULD DO A BIT BETTER NOW. THANK YOU JESUS, TRULY FOR PRAYERS ANSWERED.

AND THANK YOU ALL MY WORLDLIES FOR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS. YOU TRULY ARE THE VERY BEST. AND FOR THAT I LOVE YOU!!:love::angel::dance::flow1::goodvibes:ye s:

happy2bme 09-02-2009 12:07 PM

Annie - our body parts DO tell us that we are working too hard. Trouble is, they are really afraid of the boss so they just whisper it to us...

Thank heavens for the good news on your Mom. Sooooo wonderful to hear that it's something treatable. Prayers do work. Now we can focus on your DD.

I find that as the days get cooler and shorter, my appetite kicks into gear. I can't wait for lunch today. Not that there's anything that fabulous to eat, just ravenous today.

annie175 09-02-2009 02:20 PM

Haqppy, thanks for the kind words, and I am focusing on my DD too, prayers do help, I sometimes just need a reminder.

Sometimes when I am bored at work all I want to do is snack. I just ate some of Amy's cherries she brought. My goodness they were the plumpest, meatiest, sweet cherries I have had all season. I could of ate them all, but didn't want to start oinking at work.

MELODY525 09-02-2009 04:39 PM

MICHELLE~ MY COMMON SENSE FLIES OUT THE WINDOW WHEN I WANT TO DO SOMETHING. I THINK IT'S HUMAN NATURE TO IGNORE THE POOR BODY AND WHAT WE ALREADY KNOW WE SHOULDN'T BE DOING!! HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER ALL OVER SOON:hug:

ANNIE~ I AM SOOOO HAPPY TO HEAR ABOUT MOM AND HAVE THE DD IN MY HEART ALSO. GOTTA THINK POSITIVE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. DREAMS REALLY DO COME TRU!

JEANETTE~ YOU SOUND VERY UPBEAT AND GAVE ME THE IDEA FOR FALL CLEANING. SOMETHING I COULD GET GOING ON NEXT WEEKEND. THANKS. HAVE A GREAT CEE-DAY WEEKEND!!

HAPPY~ WHEN ANNIE COMES UP WITH A PLACE FOR US TO BEGIN OUR WORLDLIE'S COMMUNE....BRING THE YURTS!! THAY HAVE BEEN ON MY MIND ALL DAY SINCE I WAS WATCHING A TRAVEL SHOW LAST WEEK. :belly:
IF I TAKE THE MAINTENANCE MEN MAYBE THEY WILL GIVE ME ROSES TOO!

:hun: A FRIEND BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION "THE ZONE DIET" BY DR BARRY SEARS. I HAVEN'T LOOKED AT IT FOR YEARS...MAYBE THE 90'S. SO I GOOGLED STUFF FOR HER AND PRINTED IT ALL OUT TO MAKE HER A "BOOK" OF SORTS. SHE WANTS SOME SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT. I ALSO ORDERED BOOKS FROM THE LIBRARY AND WE'RE LOOKING INTO IT...ONE OF THEM IS "THE ANTI-INFLAMMATION ZONE". I AM READING IT OVER THE WEEKEND FOR SOME IDEAS. BOTH MY FACE AND BODY HAVE INFFLAMMATION ISSUES AND I AM LOOKING FOR IDEAS TO KEEP THE INFLAM. DOWN. CAN'T HURT. I ALSO CAME ACROSS THE "FLAT BELLY DIET" ON WWW.PREVENTION.COM
THAT IS BASED ON THE STOMACH AND FOODS THAT BOTHER IT ALSO. SO FAR I GOT SOME INFO TO MULL OVER.
I'M NOT LOOKING FOR A DIET PER SE BUT MAYBE THERE IS MORE INFO OUT THERE TO SPEED UP THIS FACE CRAP. CERTAINLY MY INFLAMMATORY CONDITION FOR THE BODY COULD BENEFIT AS WELL. NOW THAT I HAVE WRITTEN A BOOK....I WILL LEAVE YOU TO ALL HAVE A GREAT EVENING.

TOMORROW I WILL BE AT TRADER JOE'S ARMED WITH MY NEW LIST OF INGREDIENTS  EVER THE OPTIMIST!!
HAVE A GREAT THURSDAY TOMORROW :moped:

Hello all, pretty much caught up - with the thread, not work. Never caught up w/ work. :(

Annie – Wow, 72 hour workweeks. I would be feeling mighty sorry for myself. But you seem to be relishing the challenge! Still want to urge you to get enough rest! Hope you and DS have a good couple days and a nice b-day celebration (cowboy style, huh). I am with you on the challenge! I have been completely off track with exercise this summer, and have been totally self-indulgent as far as eating for quite some time. I will weigh in tomorrow morning and maybe change my ticker for the Halloween goal. Good news about your mum!

Ceejay – Enjoy your time off. Ugh, hate that internal alarm clock sometimes! Watch that blood pressure. BF's mum went to the hospital for 2 days of testing last week due to complications w/ high bp. She is now on different bp meds, and she takes it twice a day for more consistency. I guess the elevated bp levels caused muscle spasms and soreness, heart pain, etc. and it'll take a couple weeks to recover.

Happy – Oh, another stay in the yurt. Sounds delightful. And how about the roses from DH? Awww, very sweet of him. My bf is also handy, but I prefer to be out of the house when he gets handy – he can't undertake a project w/o much cursing going on over indecipherable instructions, etc. Thanks for egg tips. Didn't know about adding salt to the water for easier peeling. We rarely make egg salad, but sometimes we make egg sandwiches. We like using our "vintage" egg slicer to slice the eggs, and then put the little round slices on toast spread w/ mayo, seasoned w/ salt & pepper. We eat them open faced.

Mel –Thanks for starting our great new Sept. thread! Glad you had a relaxing day yesterday. You should keep that sign on your door for a few more days!

Michelle – Glad to hear your lungs are feeling better and you're back to exercising. Lately I've had off and on episodes of heavy chest/congested chest/wheezy breathing, nothing severe, most noticeable lying in bed. For the past few days though, no problems. Wonder if it has to do w/ the dry weather the past several days? I will soon need to cancel the appointment w/ the lung specialist (made way back when) if I decide it's not needed. I might cancel regardless and just go see my regular allergist, because the practice also treats asthma patients.

Shad – LOL re adjusting to the new hearing aids. Hope you get to walk w/ Chris tomorrow. Just don't catch her flu!

Muddling through the work week. Of course the weather of the past three days of this week is a total 180 from the last three dismal days of last week, and now I'm stuck inside the office. Boo. Monday night was a dog walk. Last night went to the movie "Post Grad". Entertaining enough, not gonna win any Oscars. Nothing planned tonight, except maybe another dog walk – need to enjoy this weather while it's nice! The gym and my basement will still be there waiting for me when the weather takes its inevitable turn. Although, we'll still have to get out with the dog even when it's ugly outside. Last year when it was so cold, we were just letting him out in the yard long enough to do his biz and not going for walks. After a while he started going a little batty. Won't get into details, but lesson learned!

Have a great evening everyone!

Morning all,

Thursday here which means start weight day for Annies Challenge. So I am currently at 81.1 (which is down from 83.2 by the way) and I want to be at 78 at end of challenge. That's going to be some challenge.

Anyway, I have places to go and people to annoy today. I will be back later to read and post properly. Have a good day/ night.

happy2bme 09-02-2009 10:24 PM

What's that Shad - down about 4 American pounds????? :yay: :yay:  :congrat:

Good on yah woman!!!!

That is pretty agressive for Annie's challenge but you are one determined lady so go for it!

happy2bme 09-03-2009 08:38 AM

Good morning ladies,

Guess I'm the first one in here.

Laura - I could not get along without my "vintage" egg slicer. Even if it's just to chop some eggs into a garden salad. Can't imagine trying to cut the suckers up by hand. I guess your pup is trying to let you know that he gets stir crazy in the house and looks forward to his walks so no slacking lady  I'm glad to hear your lungs have cleared up. Might have just been some pollution in the air irritating things.

Mel - since you mentioned inflamation - check out the sugar in your diet. I have definitely noticed that when I have too much sugar, I start to get all achy. Notice other things too. I had heard sugar causes inflamation in the body and now I'm a believer.

Annie - the Michigan cherries must be awesome this year. My mom went on a bender and ate 5 pounds in a couple of days because she said they were just so darn good. I don't recommend doing that as she had some unpleasant effects but a handful won't hurt. Will have to pick some up this weekend.

Michelle - loved your analogy of being covered by the paper piles  I can so relate! We are rounding the bend into my not favorite season of out of the blue choking coughing fits brought on by Mr and Mrs Sinus Monsters. Ugh, hate it. Always have a cough drop in my pocket and a water bottle nearby.

Ceejay - enjoy that long weekend! Does it start today?

So Shad - did you go places and see people yesterday?

Alrighty, on with the day. I have alot to do at work. Month end report time so I'd better get on my way. We're winding down to a long weekend (at least 3 days) on the American side here. Celebrate the laborers (us) :carrot:

ceejay52 09-03-2009 10:08 AM

Yesterday started my first day of the four day week end. I had a phone call early that morning from he dentist office. They had a cancellation and wonder if I wanted it. I did take it. Now my teeth are clean. Yipee for no cavities.

The only productive thing I did yesterday was to go to the gym. 36 minutes of cardio and 20 minutes on the weight machines. I had rode the bike for 15 minutes before I left. My shoulders are a little sore but that's it. More today.

I had decided to wash a couple of loads of clothes last night. I was searching for the cell phone and remembered that it was in my pants pocket. It was in the washinig machine. UGH, am I getting old and forgetfu! I drowned the phone so it's off to the Verizon store today to get another phone. It's the only phone I have, by the way. I also need to pay rent today.

Mel
I did put the do not disturb sign on the door. I may leave it off tody just to tell the girls if they come down that my nerves are giving me problems and I need the peace and quiet.

Annie
I'm curious did the doctor's know what caused the acid in your mom's kidney's? I love cheeries and could eat the whole bag. I don't buy them very often because of that.

Happy
Lot's of things can cause imflammation in your body, most diffinately sugar.
Since I've put all my reports on the excel program I can finish them on the first day of the month. It makes it very easy to balance.

Shad
Congratulations on those pounds lost. I'm going to measure my waist line this morning and work from there. According to Dr Oz women should have 32 inch waist line.

Michelle,
You seem to know your limitations on the exercise front. I told myself yesterday that I would not over do it on the weight machines. I usually go gung ho, all or nothing kind of thing. It felt good to go back to the gym. My shoulders are a bit sore.

Laura
Don't you just love the way things mount up at work when you are on vacation. I've been telling myself do one thing at a time. I can't multi task as much as I used to.

Patty
Where are you?

diyana 09-03-2009 10:22 AM

Happy Thursday ladies!

I weighed myself this morning in advance of my official WW weigh in at lunch time. Based on this morning's weigh in on my scale, I'm kind of expecting to be the same weight or have gained a little. We'll see. I have only exercised once in the last week...and my body really needs me to move it in order to lose it. But I was so exhausted yesterday, I just needed to rest...so no gym or walking for me. But tonight, I've got an appointment with my coach/trainer...so I'll go to the gym for cardio, weights and to meet with him. I ordered a couple pairs of pants in Misses sizes...a 16 Misses and a 14 Misses. And even though now, I'm a 16 Womans I know that's not the same as a 16 Misses. They were on sale and I figure I'll get down there sooner or later - hopefully sooner! :) They haven't arrived yet, but I'll let you know the results.

I am way excited! In addition to having Labor Day Monday off, my company is closing down tomorrow afternoon, so we get an extra 1/2 day. AND my DH and I are taking Tuesday and Wednesday (my birthday) off, so we have a very nice LONG weekend!! :woohoo: We are going out of town to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (which is attached to Northern Wisconsin). We leave on Sunday morning and come home on Wednesday! We found a great place to stay that is okay with us bringing our doggies and it's very reasonably priced! I can't wait! :woohoo: Since we're going to a place that's even less populated than the country town we live in, I'm not sure what our eating out options will be. We do have a small frig, microwave and stove in the cabin. I'll make the best possible food choices, making sure to have lots of fruits and veggies for snacks, and drink LOTS of water. And I know we'll be getting A LOT of walking in and some "weight lifting" as we plan to do some serious rock collecting while we're up there. I'm sooo looking forward to this!!

Ceejay - You be careful not to overdo it. You don't need any more stress or anxiety attacks.

Mel - Thanks for posting the reminder about Perfectionism. My lungs are getting better. I keep having to clear my throat, but I'm coughing a lot less now. I didn't wake up coughing at all last night and I didn't even take my cough medicine! :woohoo: Hope you enjoyed your time with Jen. Good for you for having a "do nothing" day! I have friends who did the Zone diet back in the 90s and had success with it. As for the Flat Belly Diet, from what I understand, it's based on adding certain foods to your diet...some of which I like (like nuts and seeds) and some I don't, like olives...so I add what I can and leave out the rest. Not sure if it's helping or not...I'm a LONG way from a flat belly.

Shad - I can imagine the hearing aids would take a bit of getting used to. Good to hear that your DS2 has such a depth of knowledge, and that Miss Puss is still making her presence known. Too funny that Queensland gets the furs and boots out when it's under 20C (70). My favorite temps are in the 70s during the day and in the 50s or 60s at night. Just lovely.

Happy - I hope your dentist appt went well yesterday! I cracked up at your post about body parts whispering to us because they are too afraid of the boss! Tooo Funny!. My appetite increases as the days get cooler too. I can't do cherries...more than a dozen gives me unpleasant side effects.

Annie - I haven't had to use my heater yet on the way to work...but I have lots of body insulation. I have used my defogger already. Hope you had a great time with your son. I'm so happy that the docs gave your mom a script that will alleviate her pain and help her kidneys! That's wonderful news!!

Ceejay - Hope you are enjoying your long weekend. Congrats on your nephew and his gf expecting a baby! How exciting!! Congrats on the clean, cavity-free teeth! And :bravo: on going to the gym!! Sounds like you had a great workout!! Too bad about the phone going through the washer! As for exercise, I do have a tendency to overdo. It takes my coach/trainer, PT person (when I was going) and everyone else to remind me to not go hog-wild, but to work up gradually.

Woohoo...just 11 more working hours 'till the weekend and my VACA!

Lotsa love and hugs,

annie175 09-03-2009 10:47 AM

Thursday...almost Friday...Yeah!!

Day 1 of our Halloween Challenge....you chose your goals, healthy eating plan, exercising plan and run with it. The goal is to get our bodies in better shape/form/health by Halloween. My starting weight is, OMGoodness, don't want to admit it, 159, my goal weight is 145. That is a total of 14 lbs I need to lose by Halloween. Sheesh. Check in for this challenge will be Thursdays...9/10 will be the first. May the force be with each of us along with positive thoughts and motivation. God can step in here too!!

Last night was so much fun. DS, DD & her BF, Tony, my bro and his wife, and a good friend of mine showed up at restaurant. We had many laughs and great conversation. DS was surprised that I had invited that many, he thought it was going to be me, him and sissy. He loved his western shirt and bolo tie. He wore them and his cowboy boots & hat. A real hick, however he is so loveable. Biased,,um,,no...hehe

Tonight DS and I are going to grill out for dinner. He wants steak, of course, I am not all that hyped on red meat but will suffer through it for him as he goes back home tomorrow. My house looks like Hurricane Jake went through. Shoes, socks, T-shirts, empty water bottles, spit bottles from chew...yuck, his room a disaster, I love it. Some serious cleaning to do once he leaves.

Chelle.....The smaller size pants are a wonderful incentive. You will get there in no time. You have a marvelous time off with DH. I am jealous. It sounds like a terrific time and the doggies get to go also. YEAH!!

Ceejay....Don't know why mom has too much acid in her system. If the docs told her, she doesn't remember why. She does have GOUT which is aggrevated by acidity in the sytem, so maybe that will feel better too. Congrats on no cavities. There is a little savings there.

Happy...too late on the cherry thing. I have been to the potty 4 times this morning. Had to do the b*tt squeeze/tiny steps to the bathroom for fear of sh*tting my pants on the way. LOL

MEL...Yes, dreams do come true! and prayers get answered. All those books you will be reading...your assignment will be complete book reports on all. Toot Toot!!

Laura...doggie walking is an excellent form of exercise. I had one doc tell me that walking is the ONLY exercise he recommends as most people will not keep up gyms etc for the rest of their lives and walking is a more reasonable thing to keep up for life. That was just his opinion.

Shad...hope you have a successful "annoying others" day. You are a hoot.

Well best get back at it. Had a fire drill this morning with boss. It is nice when she is out of the office, but all h*ll breaks loose when she comes back.

Much love and many hugs.
