Tikanique- WELCOME!!!!!

tikanique 08-17-2009 11:26 PM

Thanks for the welcome. I took the Crew to the gym and the Girl just straight showed out. She FORCED me to get on the treadmill and then ran for 12 straight minutes on 5.1. I just huffed and puffed alongside her but I didn't give up. I got my 40 minutes in too. I am so amazed at how strong and healthy she is and so proud. When I grow up, I think I wanna be HER!!

Unstoppable - How are your plans coming? How do youhave your hair in the 'avi" it looks nice but i can't see it close up....

Tikanique - Welocme. Glad to have you.

Matilda - I love reading. What if we started a "WOC Book to Read" thread. Whenever one of use finds a good book we add it to the list....IDK something like that

Beaka - I am happy you are put back together..

I had a great ON TRACK day muhself! I went out for a run and in 88 degree weather 81% humidity @ 5:00 and uhm started hyperventilating. I almost passed out but I made it 40 minutes....eeek. :carrot:

Hi Ladies!

This week is a push myself to the limit week. Its also TOM but Im not giving up. I went to the gym last night and this morning it was so hot that lastnight I couldnt finish the class I felt like I was going to pass out. So I got myself together but I did get a hour working including my strenght training

This morning I did NOT feel like going but went anyway and just walked on the treadmill for 45 mins Im planning on going back tonight so hopefully it all works out.

Cake- a book club or something would be awesome I am always reading books.

Where is everyone I hope we dont lose this thread! Have a fantastic day

tikanique 08-18-2009 02:04 PM

hi all,

we had a salad / dessert potluck at work today. I planned ahead, brought my own spinach, fiber one cereal to replace croutons, low fat cheese and grilled chicken. I'm kinda funny about eating at potlucks, go figure. I also brought a healthy dessert so I can socialize with my co-workers, stay on track with my eating and also enjoy myself.

Of course now that I'm stuffed on salad I want to take a nap! LOL.

Gym tonight / chest triceps and cardio - the Crew will not let me out of it.

Regarding a book club, what types of books do you all read?

beaka 08-18-2009 05:22 PM

First off, CAKE. Although we are all for gettin' the workout in, I do NOT wanna get a message one day that you were found passed out on the sidewalk somewhere!!!

Tikanique: Sounds like you are on it! :carrot:

A book club would be cool. I do try to read ones with actual substance though. Not the black-woman-finds-hot-mandingo-to-sweep-her-off-her-feet novels.

Today has been ok for me. Got off track by eating 3 cookies, but other than that it's been ok.

tikanique 08-18-2009 09:16 PM

Hi ladies!!! Back from the gym, got the chest tri split in and also did a kickbox jam class with the Girl - too much fun!!!

I had a myoplex lite shake as soon as I got home and will eat dinner once the Boy gets home from shooting hoops.

Cake, I agree with Beaka, be careful - the heat isn't anything to play with.

Beaka, back AWAY from the cookie jar!!! :-)

Books? I like murder mystery, science fiction, and yes, Regency England historic romance novels where it's a scandal if the woman shows a bit of ankle while getting in a carriage. LOL!!! It's my deepest shame but I can't help it. Best book I ever read was Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsley. It was about a missionary, his wife and 4 daughters that lived in the Congo in the 1940s. Made me laugh, cry, get angry, relate, you name it. It was written from the various perspectives of the females in the story and was Oprah's book list some years ago.

MATILDA-I lived in Rahway, but now I am in the West Deptford area

CAKE-The plans are coming along. Sick of family members inviting themselves and everybody giving their two cents. Can't wait for the honeymoon. My hair is locked. The front was twisted and i just had it pulled back in a ponytail

tikanique 08-19-2009 03:05 PM

One downside to exercising is what it does to my hair. My hair is very thick and very long. And I sweat. By the time Friday rolls around my hair smells because it gets so wet with each workout. For instance i worked out last night and this morning the roots were still damp. Any suggestions, other than braids?

Matilda08 08-19-2009 08:27 PM

There was a thread wear they spoke about hair on the 20 something board I think! There was so great info on there too. My hair is dry but I just put it back in a pony tail lol Ive been wearing wigs so when im off to the gym I take it off. My hair is pretty long and thick but I dont wear it often Im such a weave queen lol

tikanique 08-20-2009 05:12 AM

I'd been wearing it pulled back in a pony tail or bun but I've notice breakage around where the hairband went so I've stopped doing that. Right now I'm just wearing it in a big french braid down the back.

I tried a wig a while back but after accidentally pulling it off at work in front of people - several times - i let that go.

Matilda08 08-20-2009 11:24 AM
