Good morning to you all! We were supposed to have sunny weather all week with it warming up gradually until Friday it is supposed to be in the high 60's. I got a text message from Jack around 9 yesterday morning and it said, "It's snowing." I opened the door and sure enough it was snowing and gangbusters. It was really hard, almost white out. Lasted for 5 minutes and stopped and by 11 was all melted! :) That's the way to have winter!!!

Susan: That is too bad the man wouldn't just give up. I often wonder though why if they have swat sharpshooters why they can't just shoot the gun out of his hand instead of killing him. They should be able to rush him before he can pick it up and do anymore harm I would think. Hope you are starting to warm up in your area. Oh, I forgot to tell you. When I was at the dr office the other day with Jack there was an older lady there doing hand quilting. We were a regular hobby lobby with me knitting and her quilting. It takes so long you have to have something to do. They always put on CNN, which was all about the inaugural stuff the following day and I hate sitting and watching news all the time anyway. The other tv had on all medical stuff with the sound off. I don't know why that was even on since they didn't have the caption going. You had to guess what they were talking about.

Jean: Hope your mom is doing well. How did card club go, did you win? I forgot, what did you say you play? I wish I could find a euchre group here. I would enjoy playing euchre. Thomas was always hard to understand on the phone. He talks so fast you lose a lot of it, but he is much better since he is old now. I am looking forward to seeing him on Saturday at dinner. We decided to go to PF Changs. They have a lot of nice dishes that Kelly and her family like a lot.

I am going to get my dusting done early this morning then get a shower and head out and get my nails done today. Tomorrow is Fortune's grooming and my hair salon is in the same strip mall so I am going to get my hair cut tomorrow. I have a free one coming to me. I will then come home and color it.

Boy, if we were going to Vegas would we be getting the deals. The place we usually stay sent me an email offering rooms during the week for $25 a night! The strip hotels that usually charge anywhere from $90+ between now and April are charging around $45. They are really hurting for tourists. Ahh well, I don't mind trading off my car for the vacation for this year. We are going to take a mini one in Sept to somewhere close by. I am hoping Jay can get tickets in April or beginning of May to the Cubs game so we can stay an extra couple days in Chicago and go see "Jersey Boys." I am dying to see this broadway show about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. I love this singing group even though I was really too young back when they were popular. I listen to their music when I am exercising all the time.

Well, I only have 12 rows and the sleeve will be done and I can finish my sweater so I guess I will do that until Jack gets up.

You have a good hump day and maybe it will start warming up around here today.

Good Afternoon, Flowers! It "almost" seems like spring outside! The snow is melting on the streets and they will be a mess in the morning since the plows never did come out. We are getting ready for ITEDs tomorrow; the kids are all ready complaining. We have to read most of them out loud which is a BIG pain because a good majority just fill in the dots and don't follow along with us. :(

Susan -- The situation in your neighborhood is sad. I suppose since the man still had the gun in hand the SWAT team couldn't take any chances. It was nice of you to take food to your friend's family. I'm sure the funeral will be hard.

"Gma" -- I'll take your kind of winter any time! I play "500" with a group of 7 others; we're all about the same age and have kids and grandchildren about the same age. I know I've been in the group since 1982 because that is when Jason wore his brace and was home in traction for a month. It was the first time I hosted and we had to be in the basement because his hospital bed was in the livingroom. That seems like yesterday. The part of the state that my mom lives in has had more snow than we have. Thankfully she is very cautious about going out and driving in the snow and ice. I know you are looking forward to lunch with Thomas and his family. What is your next knitting project?

Hope you all have a pleasant evening and a terrific Thursday tomorrow. I think it is Bob's night to cook. ;)

Good morning to you all! Jack is having to take an emergency vacation day today. He cracked our shower head and we have to go and get a new one.

Jean: I have to laugh at your spring comment. I am sure it is like a summer breeze at your house. I cannot believe you have to treat teenagers like they are 5 year olds. Must be interesting when they take SAT's or ACT's because they actually have to pay attention and do it themselves. I ask the "card king" if he had ever heard of 500 and he said no. Jack has played all kinds of cards so I was surprised he hadn't heard of it. Is it something regional like Euchre is?

The neighbors were having a brawl last night. It lasted until about midnight. I was about to call the police. Some guy was banging on the door and cursing to high heaven and then there was slamming and bumping in the house. These neighbors are going to be peachy I can tell.

Today Fortune goes to the groomer and I get a haircut and we hunt for a new shower head. This one is only about 6 months old and cost us a $100! I wasn't all that fond of it in the first place, but I didn't want to have to buy another one! :D

Well gals, morning chores are calling. Have a good day all!

Good Afternoon, Flowers! The sun was shining brightly and it was 41 degrees outside on my way home from school! It smells like spring, is sloppy like the spring thaw, and kids are out on skate boards and bikes. I have a major headache after reading ITEDs this morning; we did an hour and 15 minutes, then went through the regular scheduled classes for a shortened time. Tomorrow is 3 hours worth of reading! *groan* Since we read most of the tests out loud it takes longer. We get out at 11:30 and then I am off to get a perm. Tomorrow night Bob has his "after" Christmas party at a casino an hours drive away so will need to hussle home, change clothes, pick up his secretary, and be on our way. That will be an "eat and thank you for your hard work this past year" from his manager. The cigarette smoke, from the casino, hits as soon as you walk in the door so I am glad we are in a party room upstairs.

"Gma" -- I don't play Euchre, but I do know that it is played around here because the paper will have tournament scores listed. "500" is played without the 2s and 3s; whatever is named trump has the opposite Jack in the lineup of Joker, Jack of trump, offsuit Jack, A, K, Q, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4. The object is to bid (usually 7 or 8) with a 5 card kitty that you get when you name trump. You play partners and whoever gets to 500 first, wins. We just play 4 hands and switch partners according to the tallies. However did you break your showerhead? I can't even reach mine. I hope you can find one that you like. I'll bet you and Fortune look spiffy in your new "dos."

Bob went ice fishing today so should be home shortly. I don't know whether to plan on a fish fry for supper or something else since I haven't heard from him.

Have a relaxing evening and a FANTASTIC Friday tomorrow!

Goo9d Evening, ladies! It was up in the 40s today and supposed to be in the 50s tomorrow.

I think I am living under a cloud. I got a letter from a friend's mother today telling me she had died unexpectedly (only 53) although she had leukemia she was thought to be in remission. She lived in Ohio. I got a Christmas card from her and here a month later she has died. I thought last year was bad but this one is not starting out much better as far as deaths go. Tomorrow is the funeral for my friend here. She will be buried in Arlington National Cemetary on February 2.

I had my quilting bee last night - always fun there.

Faye, did you and Fortune get matching hair cuts? Just like the stars. Sorry about the shower head. I'm still on the one that we had when we moved in here.

Jean, I'm terrible at cards. All I can play is Canasta and that's not a popular game anymore.

Well, ladies, I'm off to the shower!
