Kelly- I am surprised to hear your hubbie is actually working out with you. I thought he might whimp out. I'm impressed. My new philosophy....screw the scale!!! Just do what you know works and stick with it. Don't falter. Give me a call about Wed. Let me know about the health challenge.

Susie- That's a whole lotta workin out. You should be beat after that.

Ward- Good job getting back on the plan. So far all I've read is yes, you can reset. It might take some time at a maintenance weight for a while. I'll let you know if I find out more.

I did kickboxing last night myself. I was back down to my lowest today, 188.6. YAY!!!! Now if I could just keep going a little lower. I think I'll do a quickie run and some Bootcamp tonight.

mtiger 06-10-2009 06:33 PM

HHEEELLLOOOO!!! Anybody there??? So Kelly and I did our practice 5k today. It was hot. We went a little further than 3.1 I think. We took a wrong turn. Hey, it should seem shorter on Sat. We did it in like 44 min though. Pretty good. We both decided Friday would be a rest day so we can be fresh on Sat.

I splurged on Chinese last night. Scale went up just a bit, 189. I really want to see 187 or 186, even better. Keeping fingers crossed.

WardHog 06-10-2009 07:08 PM

Mindy, congratulations on the new low and the 5k! You guys are going to do great.

Kelly, good for you getting your husband to exercise with you. I wish mine would get off the couch.

Susie, how was work today? Did you get that long workout in?

I made it through day 5 back on plan. Workout was good - 40 min on the elliptical, Group Power, and a 10-min mile run. After that childcare time was up so I had to go.

I have an event coming up July 10 - a girlfriend from high school is turning 45 and she has invited all of us to celebrate our 45th birthdays together at a restaurant/wine bar type place. And she has specified cocktail attire, so of course I want to look good. I tried on three dress possibilities (from my closet) today and any of the three would be acceptable. That made me happy. :carrot:

See you tomorrow!

Hi--After June 19 things at work will calm down a bit. Our end of fiscal is June 30 and there is a lot to wrap up by then.

I got a kickboxing workout in today at noon--it kicked my butt! I call it my last chance workout. I hope the scales show my workout efforts this week. I feel I've done well with the food. Right now I just feel to overwhelmed to write it down but I've only been buying heathly things so there isn't much to get off track with. I'll go back to writing it down soon.

Mindy: Chinesee food is salty..that is maybe why you were up a bit. I bet you are down today.

Ward: Hey girl! Good for you to be happy when you try on that type of clothing..see...this is all so worth it! and it's important to celebrate those types of things..sometimes the scales don't show the whole story.

Kelly: Are you still showing your husband up? Keep up those workouts.

Ok..back to work for me. I'll be here tomorrow to report the story of the scale.

mtiger 06-11-2009 04:06 PM

Susie- Oh I know the Chinese was bad. It was like my true cheat meal of the week. And I did go down today. I saw 187.8. Must keep moving in that direction if I'm going to get to 185 soon. Good luck with the dreaded scale tonight. I am hoping for something good on mine tomorrow.

Here is the problem with summer. I get lazy. Today is kind of rainy so I find myself sitting on the couch more than I should. I did work on weeding out huge mess beside my garage and I weed whacked for a bit. I have been vaccuming the house, but not much else. I am looking for a break in the rain so I can take a dog for a walk. Then later I will do a DVD. I know I must keep moving this summer.

Ward- How fun trying on those clothes. Have fun with the girls.

Kelly- Get in a workout tonight so you can rest tomorrow, before the big 5k.

WardHog 06-11-2009 08:00 PM

Susie, I love kickboxing! How are your arms and shoulders feeling today? I hope your weigh-in goes well.

Mindy, most excellent results! Keep moving this summer, ok?

Day 6 on plan for me. Workout was Group Ride + 52 min on the elliptical. I will update my weight tomorrow, too. No matter what it is.

Kelly530 06-11-2009 09:45 PM

So, my husband must feel bad for me. He knows I don't have Mindy next to me anymore every day, so he is soooo making up for her. I have been on track every day this week, with my calories, and working out every day, and tonight, I was just ravenous. I wanted to eat everything in sight. My kids had ice cream cones and I wanted one so badly, but...he talked me out of it, and made me work out tonight with him even though I didn't want to. This is true love :D. I am inching down on the scale a half pound at a time. I am only a half pound away from my lowest weight, so I hope to see a new number soon.

Mindy--I am so excited you finally saw the 187's today!!!! Good run yesterday. I felt like a big wimp at the end, but that damn town needs to lose some of those hills :dizzy:. Look forward to seeing you for the birthday lunch tomorrow, and the run on Saturday.

Ward--Great workouts! I bet those evening clothes look great on you!

Susie--Kickboxing always kicks my butt, too. Glad you got it in. Hope the scales are kind tonight.

See you all tomorrow!

Hi,

I have a .75 lb loss to report. You already know that I wanted it to be a bigger loss...it will be next week. The important thing is that my eating is good, I feel good, I've got in some great workouts and the scales did go down.

I made a deal with myself that starting today until next Thursday I will look up all of my foods and record them and my calorie intake for the day. It's sort of an experiement, so I can see what it takes for me to loose what. I'm setting my calorie goal as 1600 per day. To keep myself faithful for this next week, I'm going to report it to you gals every day.

Kelly: That's really cool that your hubby is helping you like this. He knows you are serious..you have shown that you are and I bet he likes the new way you look! ;) I'll be thinking of you and mind on Sunday and while I won't be running I'll walk.

Ward: YES! My arms and shoulders felt it and so did my sides..maybe from the twisting with some of the punches..and my legs. It was a good feeling--once I got moving the next day! :D Look at you..Day 6 on plan!!!

Mindy: Did you get to moving today? Maybe you need to put movement times on your calendar? I hope the number 185 comes for you next week.

I'll be around this weekend--see ya!

mtiger 06-12-2009 05:40 PM

Susie- Any loss is a good loss in my book. I went down a couple of pounds. I am happy with that. Still want more of course. All I did today was a 20 min. arm workout. I don't want to do too much before the race tomorrow. I may go for a casual walk later.

Went to lunch with the girls (from work) today for my birthday. It was fun. they are so good to me. We are planning on Friday lunch each week this summer.

Kelly and I are ready to go tomorrow. It should be fun.

MyChoice2bfit 06-13-2009 09:37 AM

Mindy: I'm so sorry that I missed wishing you a Happy Birthday! So, I'm wishing you one now! I'm glad that you were able to get together with friends.

Kelly: You and Mindy enjoy the 5K on Sunday--I wish I could be there in person cheering you on. Just imagine me there yelling for you!

Ward: So...how did the scales look?

Ok. So I wrote all my food down but I didn't compute the calories. My mistake was not doing it as I went. I'm that sort of person..got to do it at the time...so that's what I'm doing today.

I'm up and getting organized and that includes my food calorie reporting!

Have a great Saturday ladies!

mtiger 06-13-2009 12:40 PM

Susie- The run was today, my birthday is tomorrow. So you didn't miss a thing. Keep looking up that food and writing it down. This weekend will not be good for eating. There is just too much going on. My goal is just to maintain over the weekend and get back to business on Monday.

Kelly and I gave it our all today. We ran the first 1.2 without stopping. I think Kelly surprised herself. I knew she could do it. We were both surprised when we finished in 38:10. that was AWESOME for us. I even got a little bonus. I finished third in my age division. That was a SHOCK!!!

We had fun. We will be doing this again. Good job Kelly!!!

Kelly530 06-13-2009 12:43 PM

Well, Mindy and I did our 5K this morning. We finished in 38:10. We were very happy with that time. It is our lowest so far! It was fun, and I actually was able to jog the entire first mile + a little more, so I was proud of myself. Weight was down to 170.5 yesterday, a new low, but back up to 171.5 today. I can see light at the end of the tunnel. I would like to see the 160's by the end of next week.

Susie--Great job on the loss! Also, I am so excited you are starting to look up the calorie content of the food you eat. After a while it becomes an obsession, and you can't pick up anything without checking the label. I remember when I first started writing all my calories down, I went grocery shopping and it took me like 2 and a half hours in the store because I was looking at the labels on everything to make sure I was choosing the brand that was lower calorie! Good luck, and know that after a while it does get easier and you will have memorized all your favorites!

Ward--Hope you are still on plan.

WardHog 06-13-2009 09:28 PM

Kelly and Mindy, :congrat: on your great result!

Mindy - Third place in your age group! :carrot: When's the next race?

Susie, did you complete your food log today? Have you tried any of the online calorie counters? (fitday.com, caloriecount.com)? Most are free and they are very easy to use. If you are like me and eat a lot of the same foods over and over, it takes very little time to enter the info and it does all the calculating for you.

I am still on plan. My weight is up to 137-something (it's in my profile) but I still wore my bikini to the pool yesterday. :p Workouts have been good - Friday was Group Power + a 4.25 mile run (42 min) and today was Group Ride + 60 min on the elliptical. Tomorrow I am planning to run 6 miles and mow the lawn. We'll see - I am pretty wiped right now.

And finally - Mindy :bday2you:

mtiger 06-14-2009 08:51 PM

Last night was our get together for my birthday. Drank WAY TOO much. But had fun. Today I am a bit tired. 2 nights in a row with little sleep. I just went for a 3 mile walk. I actually walked today. I am hoping to see some progress on the scale. We'll see.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. I am so pleased to see everyone working hard and sticking with their plans. Keep it up girls. Talk to you tomorrow.

MyChoice2bfit 06-14-2009 09:17 PM

Hi,

Today hasn't been a good food day for me. I have been way out of control! I have no idea why but I have eaten things that I haven't eaten in forever.

So, now I have to figure out a way to undo this damage. WHY do I do this to myself?!!!

Mindy: I am in awe of you..when I drink way to much there is NO WAY I could go for a 3 mile walk. Good for you!
