Rennie - I totally agree with you on fashion that it's up to the individual. If a person has a good body and wants to show it off -- good for them. however, I once saw a 70ish year old woman wearing a neon green tube top covering her leathery, saggy-skinned torso. And her 40 DD EXTRA LONGS were peaking out from beneath her tube top in the area of her navel - not an attractive site. Personally, I don't follow fashion trends too often. It's more important to me to be comfortable than fashionable. I'm not a fan of dresses or skirts and on the weekends, I live in jeans or shorts and t-shirts. When I do dress up, it's slacks with a nice blouse or sweater (and a blazer if I'm going on an interview).

Oh that just made me gag lol. I should have said a woman can wear anything she likes if she has the body and SKIN for it. Heck I wouldn't have wore anything so racy as a tube top out of the house even when I looked good in them lol.

Think I've had to much caffiene today. I'm not sleepy. That's okay though. I'm off tomorrow and Sunday this week. My boss told me 6 day's next week.

Carla
I'm not looking forward to the surgery. I'd lot rather take a pill as to go through with something like that. I will if I have to.

Happy
Look at those exercise minutes mount up. You go girl.

Mel
Feel better soon. Your dizzy spells are reminding me of the song- I'm so dizzy my head's a spinning, like a whirlpool it never ends.....

Can't remember who was thinking about pot roast and stews. I had some stew today for lunch. It was good. It would have been bette if there was cornbread.

The sand man is finally calling my name. Good night more tomorrow.

Afternoon all,

We're back from the park. It was okay but run down and not exactly friendly. We decided not to go to the orchid garden as we were feeling hot, sticky and definitely not amused by the time we got to the aquarium where they wanted yet more money and more walking to get in. They seem to have entries all over the place and they are all locked except one and there were no signs as to were the entrance actually was.
Oh and Happy, when you book the happy room for seniles and those no longer in charge of their tea, book me in next door. Guess what I forgot??? Yep the camera. Lucky Pieter was with me and I'm doing the mom thing - Piet - take a shot of that, and that, here let me have a go at it. What photos we got are a group effort. There were some good bits. They weren't all bad. But by the time we got to the aquarium, the heat had got to us, the lack of plants in the gardens, the lack of facilities (squat toilets for women, no loo paper and no running water) had got to us and we wanted to go home. So we did. Our Indonesian (Pieters is much better than mine) got us there and back and also into and out of the souvenir shops and the water places (buy bottles). We had a bit of fun on the Gondola Sky train. Piet doesn't like heights much and we scraped and juddered our way through the sky and finally got to the next station. We wanted to get off, no one tried to get us out, one man started to push us out into the cable again. No, no we were yelling. Can't get out from the inside, you are shut in. Finally I remembered the word for exit (keluar) and the man got us out just in time. Then another one thought we wanted to get back on again and tried to get us a gondola. Tidak, we yelled, keluar. Finally they pointed out the exit to us. Phew. Such fun being foreigners in a country.
Fun conversation with the cabbie bringing us back to the hotel. He had a little English, and we conversed in both. We are tourists?
Tidak, we work in Aneka Tambang.
What bisnis?
BHPBilliton
Do we dig holes? (now here is something neither of us expected)
Tidak. Dua bekerja permainan (we work with computers
Oh.....you must be puas (Huh - out with dictionary) (happy)?????? I guess there must be degrees of happiness in computers.

And so the conversation went on. How long had we been here. Now thats a hard one to explain - 2 weeks on and 1 week off.
How long were we staying. (only to Wednesday) etc.etc. It is amazing how much you can pick up as long as you stay focussed and people speak slowly. My use of Tolong bicara lebih pelan (please speak slowly) got a good work out.

So currently it is nearly time for tea. First tho' I think I will go for a swim and cool down somewhat. Then think about dinner and an early bed. However first to venture to the chemist shop and see if I can find some panadol.

So that's it. Tomorrow we are trying to find the elusive Slipi Orchid Garden out the other side of town. So I'll be back with that info. I won't forget the camera this time. I just hope it is worth it. I'll do the personals then. Meantime - I'm gone :genie: like majic to get those panadol.

Evening Mel,
Hope you aren't getting blown away by Hannah. We don't get a lot of news here and most of it coming out of the States seems to be hot air from the Politicians.
Sorry to hear about the loo disasters. Fat from snags and steaks tends to do that to me as well.

There are people like that in the world and I have never really been able to understand them. They just don't want peace and happiness going on. Glad your BBq went great. It is great to get with others and have a little fun from time to time. We are getting the effect of the storm here today. Really hot and muggy the last couple of days, in the 90's. This morning it is in the 70's and rainy and really muggy. We have another little outing coming up. http://www.mohicanpowwow.com/2008%20Powwow.pdf and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoF4BKsyQLw. Look at the sites and watch the video. It really is great fun. The dancing is so interesting and some of these people really work hard to get their art just right. I have to admit is is wonderful to look at some of these lovely men with their long dark hair and hear the hubby said, " Stop looking at him." :)

Hello ladies

Happy Saturday. It's overcast but pleasantly cool today. Lots on the agenda for chores today. Going to go pick some paint out for the upstairs bedroom shortly.

All the caterpillars hatched this morning. We have 9 of them. Amazing size difference between the one that hatched last week and the newbies today. DH tried to get some pictures but it's not zooming in well so I can't post pictures yet.

Mel - sorry there was a blow up at the BBQ. Hope you can mend the fences. The hard part about being at a party like that is staying away from the foods you know you shouldn't be eating. Just human nature to eat it anyway even tho your brain is saying no, no, no. Hope the raminification are not too serious.

Shad - I enjoyed your story about your trip. Once again, I am astounded at what is required to REALLY travel about. I suppose over time you build your confidence and figure some way you will muddle through things :dunno: Except to get stuck in a tram car that won't let you out  Maybe if you shriek in a high pitched voice  Hope the other garden has better flowers. And I have your room ready for you - if you get there first, save a slot for us ;)

Ceejay - I was singing that Tommy Roe song in my head all night long, up to the point I feel asleep - it's trying to creep back in my head now :dizzy:

Michelle - I'm with you on the comfort, slacks and sweaters. I get alot of compliments on my accessories - the things that just take a regular outfit into something pulled together. I like pins and scarfs more than jewelry. My days of braless, disco dresses, hot pants and platform shoes are long gone. Would rather look like Raquel Welch than Pam Anderson any day. :) That woman still looks elegant and fabulous (Raquel not Pam)

Bah - I just downloaded some PC updates and I keep getting popups every 30 seconds to reboot and it sounds like DH is ready to go so I'll be back later...

ceejay52 09-06-2008 01:07 PM

I'm gonna have to put the mouse back on the laptop. I hate this rolla thing. I always miss my point.

I'm about to get outside and mow the front lawn at least. The girls that have been mowing have gone to six flags in Mo. It can't wait till next week.
I need to weed eat also. They haven't done that.

More later--I want to get started outside.

COMFORTED A FEW SENIORS AND TOLD THEM TO GO UPSTAIRS AND WATCH A NICE MOVIE OR SOME GAME SHOWS WITH THEIR CURTAINS CLOSED. .
THE BIG BANG SHOULD START ABOUT 7PM. GOING TO EAT NOW. I CAN EAT COLD CANS OF SOUP BUT NOT IF I DON'T HAVE TO  THIS IS NOT AS BAD AS PREDICTED EXCEPT FOR THE AMOUNT OF RAIN.
ADIOS CHICAS.

Shad 09-07-2008 03:53 AM

We are back!! Just and I am now at the point where anything 'local' is taboo. I'll stick to the nice clean hotel and pool for the next three days.

We went downstairs, said we wanted to go to Taman Anggrek (Orchid Park), the wee girl gave us a map and off we go in a cab. End up at a shopping centre called (you guessed it) Taman Anggrek. Nope we want garden (kerbun) not shopping. Anway he let us out. No knowledge of orchid park. We get directed inside the shopping centre and up into the lift. The guy obviously thought we lived in the apartments above. No, no - shopping. So after about three up and downs in the lift, we find the shops. Talk to a 'polda' (security with a bit of English) who tells us there is not orchard garden just the shopping centre. Bummer. So we sit on the seat and plot out the rest of our day. We finally decided not to go out to the other Orchid park because there was nothing else we would want to see there and to go to Sea World and the Aquarium instead. Another cab ride and we finally find Sea World. The aquarium is not bad and the dolphin show wasn't bad either. We went to a 4D film of Dangers of the Deep which was fun. But I drew the line part way through the variety show where animals are slipping over just to amuse the human. So then we left.
The cab drive home was okay until we got into town. Then it became obvious he had no clue where we were. We could see the place but he turned right too soon and we were hopelessly lost then. Round and round we went and ended up in some back block and dirty hovels with begging people and kids in the streets. No paving on the roads just dirt. And it went on and on and on and finally I saw something that looked familiar - our old bridge with the orchids and toll admonishments! Brother it looked so good to me. I blessed the tolls - I would have willingly paid five more toll fees at that point. Yelled at the cabbie to stop here (Berhenti di sini ) and got out. Piet paid him and we gratefully raced over the bridge and yelled with relief when we got to our hotel. Now we know why the company does not like it's people using anything other than a specific type of cab. However in our defence, there was not much else to use. None of the big companies were there, although several cabbies assured us they were Bluebird, the condition of the cars clearly meant they weren't.
So that's that. No more tripping around this trip or probably for ever as far as Jakarta is concerned.
We are going down to the pool at 6 tonight for a beer and a swim and then some dinner.
And now I am off to make myself a pot of tea. That and a nanna nap and then I will be back to check up on you lot.

MELODY525 09-07-2008 07:31 AM

:yikes: :faint: :nono: :rollpin: JUST YOU AND PIETER STAY PUT FROM NOW ON. YOU WANT AMUSEMENT? I'LL SEND YOU SONE TRAVELOGUES TO WATCH INSTEAD
NEXT THING YOU KNOW, YOU'LL BE GETTING SHANGHAIED AND WE'LL ALL HAVE TO GO OVER THERE AND RANSOM YOU OUT! BUT I WAS LAUGHING CAUSE I WONDERED IF ORCHARD PARK WAS GOING TO BE REAL OR ANOTHER TOLL BRIDGE! :lol3: :lol3: (so...was there anything good at the mall???)

GOOD MORNING CHICKS. SUNNY AND CALM HERE. LOTS OF FLOODING BUT WE ARE ON A HILL SO NONE FOR US. I WENT OUT AND ONLY PART OF A SKINNY SUMAC TREE IS DOWN. LOTS OF MUD FROM THE CONSTRUCTION SITE BUT OTHER THAN THAT NO DAMAGES.
I AM GOING TO ATTEMPT CLEANING WITH NO INTERRUPTIONS..... MAYBE MY DOORBELL WILL BE QUIET TODAY ALSO.
HAPPY SUNDAY/MONMDAY :moped:
