omg happy, you are tooooooo funny. if you start staring at your hands it is all over with.

diyana 09-04-2008 02:52 PM

Happy - I got such a great laugh at the divine intervention against the sweet tea! And also the loud crunchy veggies drowning out your cube mate's talking! I promise to head down south and :rolling pin: you if you promise to come up north and do the same to me if I become an old lady! BTW, I sent you a PM.

diyana 09-04-2008 02:54 PM

Annie - speaking of staring at my hands, I am trying to convince myself that my hands are getting freckled from being out in the sun all summer and these are NOT the same as liver spots like my grandmas had. I'm not even 46 yet (5 more days), so they CAN'T be liver spots...no way...no how.

annie175 09-04-2008 03:58 PM

um no they cannot be liver spots cause I am 48 and have the same sun freckles.

Shy Moment 09-04-2008 06:51 PM

Ok, here we go. My daughter complained for years I dressed like an old lady. Hey, doesn't take much dressing up to clean house, mow the lawn and bake 1,000's of loafs of bread lol. I gained so much medication weight Elli The Tent maker was my designer. So, now I have started to lose weight and with this 18 extra medication pounds my clothes are about as tight as they can be. I started to wear her clothes, oh did I forget to say I was and still am in some things wearing a size smaller than she does OH YES SHE IS LOVEING THIS. Anyway I regress, she tells me today I am dressing to young and I shouldn't be wearing her clothes ( HEY I thought a pair of jeans was a pair of jeans I didn't know they came in age ranges lol ). I just can't win with this kid I dress like an old lady I dress like a teenager.

Madcat 09-04-2008 08:47 PM

Went for the boob squish today. I don’t know if it is better to be poorly OR well-endowed for that thing. It hurts, but I can only imagine what it would be like for small-breasted women where they would be crushing your sternum in those plates. I still have to do the blood-drawing and the Dr. wants to do a colon cancer test (odd). My blood pressure was slightly high so he wants me to spot check for the next month and report my findings when I go in for the results.

Happy ~ All you really need to do is add a nice blue rinse to that perm and you’d be the picture of loveliness. Your lunch story made me laugh.

Michelle/Annie~ I keep telling myself that the weird brown marks on my arm are fading tan and not age patches like my Mom’s. I agree with you both, I’m 46 so they can’t be age spots.

Michelle~ Terrific that the DH will be at your beck and call on Your Special Day. As it should be.

Shy~ Jeans are age specific? I guess maybe if they were low slung or something.

Mel~ Hope the spins are passing. Too bad there can’t be truth in advertising about the BBQ. Delegate everything and then just make and appearance and smile, baby, smile.

Shad~ That was weird… I went to do a google search on Grandpa Bel Beef and mushroom pie and your entry was the first search result. None of the other results explained the name either.

Ceejay~ the sinus op will be a good thing if it helps your breathing. My youngest brother had the same thing done and it made a world of difference.

It’s an anxious night tonight. A friend is going in for a major heart operation tomorrow morning. If anyone could spare a stray good thought or put in a word with the big guy upstairs it would be appreciated.

Ok. I have to wander off and do some other stuff and I need some Benedryl. Itchy and hive-y. Ah, fall, when I am allergic to everything. Later chicks.

Shad 09-05-2008 03:53 AM

Afternoon all,
I suspect Grandpa Bel is strictly Indonesian. Rather like the Japanese give their vehicles an English name which can be slightly hilarious from time to time. It seem they can pick themselves a name to go with the model so you might have a Toyota Yaris (model name) Parsley - with the appropriate parsley picture decal on the back and side. One should explain things to the Japanese!!!!
Whatever the pie was, it was an unrepeatable experience (or should I say a repeated experience I have no further wish to experience?)
It's Friday here in Indonesia. Today one of the secret squirrels rolls off the project and flies back to Sydney. I shall miss her, she corrects my grammar and pronounciation. I'll be back to making rude noises with the language after this.
Pieter (South African) and I had an interesting experience with the post office today. He wanted to post a letter to Ireland and they wanted $12 bucks for the stamp. :yikes: Needless to say we have finally found a web site we can understand that will allow us to ask for a more reasonable stamp. We tried to tell them that Ireland is not on the moon, but there is nothing like an Indonesian who is in full spate and not amused.

The system has decided it doesn't like me again. I'm about to upset the configuration guy who thinks that he should be able to go home early. Tough buddy - that's what I say. Anyway, I am going to Mini Indonesia this weekend and then to an orchid garden (orchard garden they call it here) We should have fun. I have downloaded a map to take with us so we can show the cabbie how to get home (in case he can't understand us) I'll take photos for you all.
And now I'd better go and do some work before I get into strife. Everyone is slacking off here - it's prayer Friday apparently and the garage downstairs got taken over for a prayer session at lunch time. The muzzein is chanting non stop and the whole place is on it's knees.

Let me go kick a butt or two!! :lol3:

happy2bme 09-05-2008 08:22 AM

Howdy peeps,

Shad - thank you for making me happy to be where I am for a change. Would not be much the happy camper in Indonesia. Like Madcat, I was looking at the food items on the internet, trying to dig up a recipe for Grandpa's Beef. Sorry to say, it must be someone's individual concoction. I guess we are used to what we are used to. Hope the orchid garden is not as dissapointing as the food.

Madcat, I've had mammaograms with bigger and littler boobs. Littler is worse I'd say - they seem to pull them harder and you get more of the machine digging into tender parts of the underarm and chest. Had a friend who was so chesty that they had to take 2 pictures of each boob - one would not fit on a single plate. She tells quite the amusing story  Sent up a request for the good people to watch over your friend

Shy - don't know what you are wearing, I tend to think you are more conservative but let's just say that there are some clothes no one over 20 should wear once they are no longer 20. Classics are universal, fashion is best left for the younger set.

Annie and Michelle - ok, now you have me looking for liver spots but all I see is that someone stole in during the night and glued on a pair of baggy, saggy gloves on me  It's pretty bad when your hands start looking like a bloodhound so would you rather have tight hands and liver spots or no marks and in serious need of a "hand lift"

Mel must be sleeping in this morning as she usually posts before me. C'mon Mel **tug, tug** wakey, wakey sleepyhead

I want to get an early start today so I'll sign off for now. Try to get back on later. Stay out of trouble ladies :s:

Shad 09-05-2008 09:10 AM

Try to stay out of trouble she says

diyana 09-05-2008 09:52 AM

Happy Friday ladies --

TGIF! Last night, I enjoyed a great strength training class (using a bit lighter weights than I used to), and a jazz dance class. And I did LOTS of stretching of my hamstrings, glutes, hip flexors, and back. Today, I woke up a bit stiff in my back...so more stretches. I'm doing okay now, and I go to physical therapy over my lunch hour. Tomorrow, DH and I will probably go fishing after we get the doggies groomed, and Sunday, we're going to a Pet Expo at the county fairgrounds, which should be fun.

I'm glad to be back at the gym, and I'll take it slowly and carefully. Going back to being more sedentary due to back pain has caused me to regain a few pounds. So I'll have to work to get them back off again.

Yesterday was a little chilly and we got a lot of rain from Gustav. Of course, not as bad as you chicks down south. I can feel my body transforming into autumn mode. I'm getting more in the mood for pot roasts and stews. No, no, no....it's still cookout weather! It's not autumn yet! It's still summer until the leaves turn! :censored: (can you feel my internal struggle, ladies?)

Rennie - Bravo that you are wearing your daughter's clothes! YGG! I say as long as you have enough "coverage" - meaning you aren't showing off a plumber's crack, wear what you want!

Madcat - I hate the boob squish where they try and transform melons into pancakes. :yikes: (Okay, since I've lost weight, they're not melons anymore.) Sending  and good thoughts for your friend.

Mel - I hope your vertigo is gone.

Shad - I'm glad you're going to get to go to an orchid or orchard garden. I'm looking forward to the photos. Since the folks are on the knees, the butts are prime targets! Go for it!

Happy - How can we stay out of trouble when we're supposed to be sassy this month?

Well, I've got lots to get done today, so I'd better get to it.

Here's to a wonderful Friday and a great start to the weekend!

Love and hugs,

annie175 09-05-2008 11:19 AM

Good Friday Morning Chickies..........

Kind of dreary here today. Supposed to clear up and be a fabulous weekend. Going out to dinner w/Jeff Saturday night then watching the Colts game on Sunday together. I am very excited about all that.

Rennie...Dress however makes you feel the best. My DD is loving it I am wearing Charlotte Russe jeans like her.

Madcat....I am not fond of the boob squish either, but I must say it has never hurt me. I think cause I am not sensitive in my boobies at all. I think the long draggy girls are dead. I will keep your friend in my thoughts and prayers.

Shad...you travelin chick you. I can't keep you with you.

MEL....Dizzy, what's new? Aren't you always dizzy? hehe My mom used to call me dizzy dean or diz, when I was a little girl..and I didn't even have blonde hair then.

Michelle...take it easy on the exercise, don't want to re-injure yourself. You have more spunk injured than I do normal. Whatever normal is. haha

Believe it or not, I am about tomatoed and cucumbered out. I have ate so many this summer they make my eyes roll when I see them. About December I will be preaching another story wanting the fresh veggies out of the garden.

Not much else going on. Have a marvy day all.

Love and Hugs

annie175 09-05-2008 01:27 PM

Today's celebration at work is COLTs day. Wear your jeans, tennies, and colts gear. Free chips, salsa, guacamole and soda in the cafe'. You can bet I just went and got mine. YUM YUM

carla49 09-05-2008 01:48 PM

Ah yes, the great boob squish. As a modestly-endowed worldly chick, I can tell you they do in fact try to pull the poor things right off in order to get enough to x-ray. Ouch! I'm convinced both girls were much, much perkier before they got yanked and pancaked. :( At my first mammo after gaining a ton of weight, they had to move to a bigger plate than was on my file from the previous time... :o

Madcat, sending :goodvibes and :crossed: for your friend's surgery.

Ceejay, I had my deviated septum 'corrected' a couple of years ago, and would not recommend it. The problem is actually about 20% worse now - before, I had at least one working nostril... And of course it doesn't correct the other half of the probem, allergies, so I'd say if antihistamines or decongestants can control the problem, why take the risk? Then again, lots of people seem to be much better off after the surgery, so I guess it's a coin toss. Not much help, am I?

Happy, those spots on the hands may not in fact be a sign of advanced age. :D At least not the small freckle-like dots. They're more likely a sign that you spend too much time driving without any sunscreen on your hands and arms. Since I've been on my own I've been doing all, the driving, and the hands went from one spot to many spots, particularly on the left hand and on the left side of the right near the thumb, both places that get the most sun while holding the steering wheel. But the big brown spots, the wrinkles, and the huge protuding veins? Those really are because we're so wonderfully mature.
And by the way, bravo on the 10 pounds lost!!!! I think your success calls for a party - you make the cake, I'll make the cocktails. :lol3: :lol3:

Shy, don't despair about the pounds regained - they'll go away again once you can get off the meds.

Mel, are you still feeling :faint: ? Or just too busy with bbq'ing and balancing your budget and keeping the building's race wars under control and shopping? Did you receive a little something in the mail yet? It was supposed to take a max of 5 business days, so... Unless of course it got destroyed en route...

Yay, Shad, orchids at last! Unless of course it turns out to be a big park full of tolls... I was browsing on-line today to see what voices I could download for my new GPS (satnav) system and there was a female NZ voice... Almost selected it, but suddenly wondered if I really wanted to have Shad telling me where to go while I drive. :yikes: Decided to wait until one day I have the real thing riding along instead, and have stayed with stuffy old Tim, with his plummy but calm Brit tones.

Annie, your Jeff sounds rather nice, and I wouldn't worry too much about the 'need' versus 'want' issue. Maybe he's been called needy in the past, or has had a relationship with someone very needy, either of which could explain the comment. It may also mean that he only sticks with women he really, really likes, and that he's not just seeing you to have a warm body around. A friend of mine joined eHarmony and ended up marrying a guy she met there about 3 months after meeting him! A little hasty, maybe, but she seems pretty happy. I filled out the questionnaires to join, but realized I really wasn't that interested right now. Or maybe I was just a big wuss and afraid to get myself out there. Anyway, good luck with Jeff! :D

Ruth, I'm sending lots of good thoughts to you for a quick recovery for Hershey. Poor baby, and poor you!

Michell, good for you for getting back to exercise so far! Sounds like you've managed to make it a true habit. If you have some extra motivation you don't need, please send it to me asap. ;)

So far September has been okay - have stayed away from the grape :tear: and chocolate, went back to WW, and put air in my bike tires and went for one ride. Since my surgeon was very happy with my progress and has lifted all restrictions, I should be out there biking right now, or maybe lifting a weight or two. But sad to say, he didn't install the motivation chip I had requested as an extra, so instead i'm sitting in here in the cool, frittering away what's left of my extended summer hold...

diyana 09-05-2008 02:20 PM

I survived physical therapy....more or less.

Before I went to PT, I was feeling pretty tight in my upper and mid-back. I told the PT that I felt like I needed a good stretch, but couldn't quite work it out. So she bent me and stretched me. And then she tried traction on me. Which felt good until I was done and stood up. When gravity took effect on my back - OUCH! :yikes: So she put some electrical stimulation on my back to loosen up the muscles....and that helped and I was able to walk back to work.

No gym tonight, but I will try and walk my dog - he needs to lose weight too. :)

Annie - What can I say? I'm just a spunky, sassy chick! COLTs day sounds like fun, as do your weekend plans with Jeff. Enjoy!

Carla - I sent some extra motivation your way! Did you get it or did it find another chick instead? Good for you for getting back to WW, going biking and avoiding chocolate and "the grape". As long as you're feeling up to it, go for a bike ride or two this weekend, even short rides are better than no rides at all.

Lunch break is over. Back to work for me.

Hugs,

Shy Moment 09-05-2008 04:51 PM

I dress very conservative most of the time lol, I always have even when I was young and built like a brick chicken coop :). I only wear blue jeans to work in the garden or something like that. Her jeans are just plain old ordinary jeans. I am not talking cut down to there lol.

Happy
Fashion to me is what ever you like. I see woman in their 50's in mini skirts. Hey, if you have the body and you have all the private parts covered I say let people wear what they want. I was wearing tailored skirts while others were thinking they were Madonna lol. I have never cared what was in style. I wear what I think looks lady like. My husband on the other hand likes me to wear things a bit more down to there or up to there when we go somewhere together lol. That kind of stuff is only worn when he and I are going out somewhere alone.
