    GOOD EVENING MAGNOLIAS

Today's BBQ went very well. We then played a game and had a great time. Church tomorrow and then another BBQ on Monday. Love being here!

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

SUSAN Sorry your leg is hurting, I am having sympathy pain for my knee on the left leg where I wear a brace hurts today. You missed the BBQ today but still have time to catch a flight and be here for the one on Monday, we would love to have you. Like I said before, we do like to entertain.

    Type at ya'all later
  • Evening gals. Sorry I didn't get in this morning, but I had so much to do and T and Kelly came over early so I had to hop to it. He and Granddad are playing video games so he should be good until bedtime. It is great exercise for Jack too. Really gets his ole heart rate up.

Here is the little pink hat. I just love this one. I hope Emma likes it too. I am going to get all three done then will soak in cold vinegar water for about an hour to set the colors then wash them and wrap them as a gift. I think I have some girly paper.

Susan: I would make bets with the rain moving in that is the cause of the knee hurting. Barimetric pressure plays havoc with injuries to bones and muscles for some reason. Hope you get to feeling better.

Maggie: Sounds like you had a grand time. Hope Will got the lawn mowed in time! lol

Well, I am going to sit and watch T and Granddad play a couple more games then off to be for all of us around 10.

    Talk to you tomorrow.
    Faye

  • Good Evening, Flowers! I am heading off to bed shortly but wanted to check in here. It's been a goofy kind of day in a way. We walked early and then I started working on the laundry piles. I'm doing cat chores this weekend so took some time to do that. The people live between here and the next little town, on the golf course. The cat is a lover so I spend extra time with her. I made a WM run and hit the grocery store afterwards. I was trying to decide what food to take to the lake tomorrow. Jason's birthday is the 3rd so guess we are celebrating according to a message left by Amanda on Bob's cell phone. No one called me about food so am winging it with hamburgers, brats, an "adult" Jell-O salad, finger Jell-O for the kids, chips, veggies, brownies, and ice cream. Amanda's parents are coming and maybe her sister and family. Beth and her family are there for the weekend so there will be a bunch. Tonight MIL was asking when Bob's brother was coming to the lake because she's only been to the lake 3 times this summer! I should have written it down on the calendar, but I know of 6 times that she's been up there for sure.

"Gma" -- I'm sure you are enjoying your time with Thomas! If I quit my job now I give up about $7000+ in early retirement plus free insurance. For 15 minutes, 3 weeks during the school year, I guess I will suck it up and do it. If I refuse to do it and get fired I couldn't get unemployment because I refused to do a duty requested of me by my superior. The hat is darling! I love the little top thingys that you do.

Maggie -- Many years ago the principal asked me to write down what I did during the day. Over the years I have done many different things and currently have no job description that I'm aware of anyway. I think I will make a potato salad for Monday -- just for Bob and me! Enjoy your weekend and the BarBQ on Monday.

Susan -- I'm sorry your knee is hurting; I hope it is feeling better by now. Are you in the path of the hurricane rain at all? You have been a busy quilter! I looked up trapunto in the dictionary and it's not there. What is it? Wouldn't it be fun if we could all make a road trip to Kansas in time for Maggie's BarBQ?

I'm heading to bed. We are walking early in the morning, Bob is going to pack the food while I go and do cat chores, and then we will pick up MIL and head for a long day at the lake. I'm glad we have Monday off! Have a great "rest of the weekend!"

    Jean -- from Iowa!
  • Good morning to you all. Just a quick peek in as T will be up soon and Granddad promised to take him and go on a donut run so I have to have things ready.

T brought his laptop with his vacation pictures and the one of my dd on the tarzan swing is priceless. They were all adults except for one 12 year old and little Thomas. Thomas was so small they sort of threw him off the top of the platform and he went swinging back and forth without a sound. Tom did a hilarious Tarzan yell when they pushed him off the platform, but all the women let off little screams, except my sweet daughter. You could hear her scream louder than anyone and as she swung out towards the trees and back you saw her kicking her feet back and forth. She got voted best screamer! lol I would never be nuts enough to do that. Thomas has a great picture of him walking up to a huge Iguana, I mean this thing was the size of a gator. I think T got within a couple feet of it before it took off. He has pictures with a gecko crawling on his hand and a giant rhinoceros beetle that is bigger than his hand. Gotta say, I am glad he had fun, but it sure ain't what I would want to do on vacation! lol

Jean: Have fun at the lake. Hope you have great weather!

Everyone have a nice rest of the weekend. I am off to finish up the hat with the little violets on it now that I have my tapestry needles.

  • Good evening, ladies. A perfectly lovely day today but humid.

When I got up this morning, my leg was fine. Go figure. I went to church this morning then to Kmart to pick up a few items of produce - peaches for 99 cents, baby carrots $1, avocados for $1. Got to save where I can. Food Lion had raspberries, strawberries and raspberries for $2 and blueberries for $3. So I've got some good fruit for this week. I made some pork BBQ for supper with some more corn on the cob and potato salad. Watermelon later.

I went to the book store and bought a new translation of the Catholic Bible. I wanted to get a larger print one before I start my bible study classes. Then I went to get some fabric for prizes for the quilt Challenge. Came home and watched a quilting DVR. I'm not much of a machine quilter and I do want to learn to do it better just so I can get more done faster.

Jean, trapunto is stuffed work. It is from the Italian. You put a extra layer of batting in some areas of the quilt so that it is raised after the quilting. Makes some gorgeous effects. I hope you have a lovely time at the lake. Its fun to get everyone together.

Faye, I'm so glad your daughter is coming around and letting you have more time with Thomas. I know you all had a good time. The hat is gorgeous.

Maggie, I tried to get a plane ticket but they were all sold out. Maybe next time!

    Have a good evening!
