Mel
I did a happy dance. Matt did arrive yesterday. Everything is working. YIPEE. No more algebra calculations for awhile. Doing algebra hurts my brain.

Ellen
Take it easy.

It's almost vacation time for me and I'M ready for it. I need some time away from this plant. My wish is to be around my sisters again, but that will not happen for awhile. I'll be going to a seminar type thing to get class room hours for my water license.

It's time to get things in order for the next operator. 1 hour and it's home sweet home.

Shad 06-10-2008 08:47 PM

Morning all,
The sun is shining brightly and all is well with the world. I have spent some time out in the sun this morning with a book and picked up some lovely Vit D and now I guess it is time to go to work.

Oh yes and I went to the gym this morning and did a full weights/ resistance work out. Happy should now feel less puffy since 'WE' have done triceps, biceps (40Kg), lifts (30KG), back extensions, crunches (120) sit ups, chest press (40Kg) leg press and calf press (90Kg) chin ups, hip lifts, (our own weight) pec fly and a stint on the treadie at 8km per hour up and down hills. I sincerely hope this will meet with Her Maj's requirements :queen: and oh yes WE did a stint on the balance ball with weights and some push ups. One of us better lose something since WE are having problems with the push ups. I don't do lunges so you have been spared that.

Michelle - I saw some of those houses swimming off down the river of muddy water on the news last night. It may be fashionable to live right on the water, but I think we need to start thinking about houses that move up and down with the tides. Apparently the Dutch have some of these. Saw them on a building program last week. Glad to hear that you are not affected by the weather. Sit tight and keep dry.

Annie - glad to hear that you may be getting a little relief from the rain and drying out somewhat. We are here too.

Rennie - keeping cleaning them there windows. My house is small. Don't have too many to do, but don't do them often anyway. Guess I am plain darn lazy. Yell at the kids to stop them arguing. I remember mine driving me crazy some years back and I dropped an entire dinner set on the floor. That soon shut them up. They were ready to go get the Wedgewood and put it in a safe place.

Happy - hope your mum does come round to moving in before too long. However you will find that she can't do without an awful lot of stuff! Hope DH is feeling less pain now. When do you go back to get the car?

Mel - take care in that awful weather you are getting. Glad to hear you have got the groceries and don't need to go shopping for a while - although the shopping malls might be the place to cool off. Have they fixed that aircon in the hall yet? Sunday is never far away from underfoot. At the moment she has commandeered the chair I was sitting in outside. She can see me but she's given up looking for more food for the moment. Little sausage has put on some weight and a big fur coat. She is too hot to cuddle for long.

Ceejay - Algebra put me off any form of maths. I have great admiration for anyone who can work it out. Geometry was more my style, but none of it was great for me. Which makes me wonder how I produced someone who loves maths and statistics. When are you on leave??

Okay - time to move it to the other computer and get on with the joys of Joint Venture accounting and a few other nasties. I'll produce something out of this - I swear I will in spite of everything that is stupid around here.

A WILD AND WOOLY STORM BLEW THE 90'S AWAY AND IT'S GORGEOUS OUTSIDE. VIOLENT WINDS HELPED IN GETTING THE AIR QUALITY WARNINGS LIFTED THIS MORNING AS WELL. WHAT A LIGHT SHOW!! ONE OF THOSE EERIE STORM FRONTS. THICK LOW CLOUDS WITH BRIGHT LIGHTNING STREAKING OUT THE BOTTOM AND EVEN BRIGHTER LIGHTS BEHIND THE CLOUDS. A REAL SHOW STOPPER. THE ONLY DRAWBACK WAS THAT I OPENED THE WINDOW LIKE A FOOL AND GOT HIT IN THE FACE AND EYES WITH SAND! :yikes: WHAT, MY FRIENDS, WAS I THINKING??? NOT THINKING IS THE ANSWER! BUT IT WAS A SIGHT TO BEHOLD NONETHELESS!
HAPPY WEDNESDAY/THURSDAY:moped:

CEEJAY...VERY HAPPY TO HEAR THAT YOU CAN EVEN DO ALGEBRA!! MY HAT IS OFF TO YOU...ONE OF THE SUBJECTS I FAILED IN HIGHSCHOOL! SO GLAD MATT ARRIVED :cheer3:

SHAD...SUNDAY IS JUST KEEPING AN EYE ON YOU LEST YOU GET THE SUITCASES OUT AGAIN! SO IS IT THAT YOU ARE EXERCISING AND HAPPY WILL LOSE THE WEIGHT? IF THAT IS CORRECT...THEN PUT ME DOWN FOR SOME CARDIO AND BALANCE BALL. I'LL DO MY OWN PEDALS :ebike: BUT I REALLY MUST SAY...NICE EXERCISING!! :ENCORE:

MELODY525 06-11-2008 08:18 AM

happy2bme 06-11-2008 08:44 AM

Good morning chicks -

Hey Mel - there's this thing in the window called glass that lets you look THROUGH it to see the storm. Actually I peeked out the door the other night - the smell of the rain soaked air is just grand.

Thank you for working hard for me Shad - just the push I needed to get the forward momentum going myself.

Mom got home safely even tho the clod next to her spilled his whole cup of ice all over her. When she was brushing away the cubes from her feet on the floor he chastised her and said - it's ONLY water lady. I said she should have slapped him in the face and said - it's only a LOVE tap honey. He probably doesn't realize that it's so easy to slip on ice on the floor and at her age, you need to be very careful about those things. Not to mention sitting with wet clothes on a cold plane. Other than that it was a quick flight and everyone was helpful, everything went well. We are all now adjusting to things being a little off kilter as we get back into our own routines.

I'm running short of time this morning so I apologize for not leaving more personals - will get back later today. Have a good hump day ladies!

diyana 06-11-2008 09:49 AM

Happy mid-week ladies --

I picked up my car yesterday - the bill came to $800, but it runs great and the rest of the car is in great shape so I should be good to go for several years now.

Annie - I hope none of the flooding in Indiana is near you! I hope you're staying safe and dry. We're supposed to get big storms tomorrow and Friday, which is not good news for the folks trying to clean up after last weekend. A big early Happy Birthday to you! How nice that BF will be staying with you to celebrate your birthday weekend!

Ellen - I hope you are safe and dry too. I haven't seen news reports of lots of flooding in Illinois, but with all the rain and rivers and lakes going over their banks or breaking through dams, there's got to be some flooding in the Land of Lincoln.

Mel - I'm glad you got your food shopping done. Hot and muggy weather with no A/C is no fun at all. Hope you were able to relax and cool down afterward. Sorry that you had bad storms, but at least they took away the bad stinky air and the hot temps. We've got lovely weather yesterday and today following our bad storms.

CeeJay - I'm glad to hear everything is working now that Matt has arrived. Where is the seminar you're attending? I hope you enjoy your time away from the plant.

Shad - Good for you for going to the gym. Sounds like you got an AWESOME workout! I'm going tonight to do cardio and weights. Now Happy will have no excuse to be puffy. For pushups, I do them against the wall. Still an awesome upper body (chest, tricep, etc.) workout, but you don't have to support your whole body weight as with floor pushups. That's interesting that the Dutch have built houses that move up and down with the tides. I wonder if that's an automatic cyclical thing or something that can be manually controlled during times of heavy downpour.

Happy - I'm glad to hear that Mom got home safe, even if she did have to sit next to a idiotic jerk! She should've smacked him upside the head.

Well, I've got to get going...super busy day ahead and I'm going to try for a 1/2 hour or hour long walk at lunch!

upswife 06-11-2008 09:52 AM

Morning ladies! Today will be a little warmer than yesterday, so I am going to try to get to the gym this morning and get the kids swimming. I will probably just sit in a chair and get some knitting done. we will see...Yesterday was such a nice day I spent the afternoon outside laying on a blanket. The girls spent some time with me, then went off bike riding. HAve to get moving...will check back in later.

annie175 06-11-2008 10:42 AM

Good Morning Everyone........

Firstly, thank you for all the early BD wishes. You girls sure make my life better.

Diyana...Was watching the news and saw that Wisc. got hit hard on the storms, so glad you are alright.

Rennie...way to go on the walking....good job.

UPS...glad you are feeling better and getting to the gym. Take it easy tho.

MEL...what the heck on the bus ride. I thought busses were air conditioned. Its a wonder you didn't have a heart attack.

Ceejay...you certainly deserve a vacation. What ya gonna do on vaca??

Shad...you are moving right up there on exercise with our exercise Goddess Diyana. You go girl.

Ok....the old bf sent me a teddy bear from the Vermont Teddy bear company yesterday. Embroidered on the front it said "Dave" on the back it said, "I am your birthday bear". How cute was that? TODAY, I received the biggest boquet of flowers ever. It has day lillies, roses, sun flowers, carnations, some kind of blue flowers and some purple anise smelling flower, greenery with bud things on it, oh so gorgeous. I am a bit freaked out by all the kindness, not used to it. and tomorrow is actually my bd.

Hello to everyone.

Love and hugs.

diyana 06-11-2008 11:11 AM

Ellen - glad you are able to get to the gym....make sure you take it easy.

Annie - that's so sweet of your BF! Very, very thoughtful!

Shy Moment 06-11-2008 11:46 AM

annie
That was a wonderful surprise. How nice of him. I am feeling lazy only walking 4 miles a day. I know I had to back off because of the knees but I still feel lazy lol.

di
wow 800 dollars. My gosh I don't think my first car cost 800 dollars lol. Not so bad since the car will last for years now.

Happy
Things will sure seem different for you now. It will take a little time to get use to her not being here. I am glad she got home safely.

Shad
What a great workout you go girl. I have found I can hit a kid with a shoe anywhere in the house lol. Now remember we are talking my children are almost 18 and 21. They never argued like this when they were little lol.

Melody
I am the wicked mother of the west today. WE are cleaning house. Well, WE are cleaning the down stairs. You would think I was making them dig a 10 foot ditch when I said furniture is going to be moved and cleaned under lol.

1day@atime 06-11-2008 01:41 PM

Hello ladies,

Annie - What a great surprise! Teddy Bear and flowers... hum..

Diyana - Yikes, $ 800 is alot, BUT you now have a safer vehicle to protect you and your love ones and that makes it all the worth...

Shy - crack that whip!! clean this house... My job as a kid was to dust the furniture...I can still make furniture shine...

UPS - hope you enjoy your day..

Shad - good workout..

Ceejay, Melody, Happy:goodvibes

My baby boy (dog) is doing better, taking it one day at a time. BUT I do know for sure, NO MORE people food, unless it's something like chicken... No more fries, or a taste of a burger....

Shad 06-11-2008 06:19 PM

Good morning all,
And since it is Thursday here, Happy Birthday Annie. One thing about living in different places around the world is that you get to celebrate your birthday over a longer time period.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...erbirthday.jpg
Well I am downunder. Can I help it if you see me upside down?

Michelle - good news on the car. $800 is a lot to pay and reminds me of why I tend to turn my cars over frequently. Only buy new and try to get rid of them within 4 years. I'm due for another now, but haven't plucked up the courage to annoy the car salesmen yet. I get very tired of 'isn't that a pretty shade of pink?' and the ensuing retort of 'I'm not into pink, tell me about petrol consumption, how often the timing chain needs replacing, does it have abs and how many of these gadgets will actually be on the car if I buy it.' Things being the way they are now over here, we should start seeing some good bargains happening soon.

Hiya Patty - glad to hear the dog is improving. You are right they should not eat a lot of the food we humans eat - mind you neither should some of the humans!!!

Rennie - my kids drove me crazy with their bickering when they were kids. Now they are the best of friends and keep in touch better than I do. Which reminds me, I should ring the DS1 today.

Ellen, go to the gym, but take it easy pluh leeeeeeese. Oh okay, re reading it, you are going to knit - the kids are going to swim.

Happy - pity Mum is a gentle person. I would have suggested that since he was obviously fitter than me he might like to open the window and fly all by himself or did he need a push?. Or words to that effect. Not realise her age?? Not realise the possible problems or distress that water could have caused? Not care more likely.
Have a good day at work. I might even get some more done myself today.

Mel - do I have to come and beat some sense into you. Mind you I probably would have done the same myself. I love to go out on the verandah and watch the thunder and lightning and to hear the rumble of rain on the roof and ground.

Nothing much else happening around here. Time to go get breakfast, hang out the washing and go shower and get ready for work. Glad you all enjoyed the workout.

Hope the day is as wonderful as you are! :hb: :celebrate:

The teddy bear was so sweet - seems Dave put a lot of thought into it and seems to want you to remember which present he gave you

Have a great day to celebrate you :hat:

happy2bme 06-12-2008 01:13 AM

Hello ladies,

Loved the bear and the upside down comment Shad! You are very clever. :D Did you get much work done? I started out slow but finished with a bang - there's alot of scurrying going on due to the battery of emails I sent out today questioning the numbers. Like you, I did better in Geometry too. Algebra, specifically Business Algebra drove me out of college one semester. Took me 6 years to get back to school again - so great was the fear  Although in my job now I have to use the maths - sometimes I get it, sometimes I need help, sometimes I just have my own way of figuring it out!

Yes Patty- as adoring as the little beggars may look, it's probably best to stick with their own food. Maybe we'd be better off if we had people food in cans like they do.

Duck everyone - Shy's cleaning and she'll put you to work if she sees you idle. LOL

Michelle - hope that's the end of the car stuff after such a large investment. But worth it if the car is very dependable. Good thing you are on a hill. I can't ever remember Wisconsin getting that much rain. They are playing the clip of the lake house on Lake Delton falling into the water. I wondered about people who build on the Mississippi that often floods, but Lake Delton??? You had a very snowy winter too, didn't you? Stay warm and dry. Guess you can't even plant yet if everything is soggy.

Hey Mel - while you're out, can you pick up a few things for me too? Glad to hear you got some cleaner air - enjoy it while it lasts.

When's the vacation Ceejay?

It's late - I have to get to bed. Good night to all of you already sleeping and to those just starting the day.

MELODY525 06-12-2008 07:59 AM
