I kind of wish that I could exercise in the mornings, but I already get up at 5:45 for work, and I just can't get up any earlier (I am NOT a morning person). So I usually do it between when I get home from work and when we eat dinner (4:15-5:30).

Tuesday and Wednesday I ran 2 miles and walked 2.25. I'll be bumping my running to 2.25 today. Keep your fingers crossed! :D

MonteCristo 09-21-2008 05:20 PM

Thursday and Friday I ran 2.25 miles and walked 2 more. I was planning on doing the same on Saturday, but it just wasn't to be. I managed to drop 1.6 lbs this week, so I'm pretty happy about that! :D

WTG Monte! Wow - I can't wait to do a little running again! I DID walk a while yesterday - knocked me out. Damn mono. Grrrrr. Congrats on the loss, too!

MonteCristo 09-22-2008 12:01 PM

You really are suffering with that Mono. I hope you get to feeling better soon. That you are even trying to exercise and diet while you're sick is awesome!

miriam101 09-22-2008 01:13 PM

Haha - not SOOOO awesome - all i want to do today is eat CORN CHIPS! or chocolate! or both!! i have been OP all day- and did tons of housework too (dh left the house for the first time in i-don't know-how-long - - gave me the impetus to do lots) and i guess that counts as exercise - haha - - anyway - saw your encouraging post, so I'll go fold more laundry instead :)

Fat Pants 09-22-2008 10:19 PM

Helloooooo! Can I join? Pretty please? :D

"Reluctant" exerciser is putting it nicely... I'm so lazy, and unfortunately, cannot just diet my way to a smaller waistline... exercise is a MUST for me, so I need to make it a habit. I usually start out strong, and then taper off after about three weeks. I need help staying motivated when the "reluctant" side of me kicks in! :p

Off to a good start this week - did elliptical and crosstrainer for 35 minutes, then took a 40 min. walk with DH this evening. Stayed under my calories, too!

miriam101 09-23-2008 01:14 AM

Fat Pants - welcome and wtg on your exercise! sounds like you were OP so far and doing great!

I exercised my brain overtime yesterday - only came home at 3 am from work! although i was home for a few hours in the middle of the day - i didn't rest - i did TONS of housework - maybe that can constitute as yesterday's exercise? LOL

MonteCristo 09-23-2008 08:56 AM

Fat Pants - Welcome, and great job! Three weeks seems to be a problem for me as well. To help me get over that, I schedule myself and extra rest day (I take one a week normally) in the third week. That way I get extra rest when I start to get burnt out, but I don't go off schedule, which helps keep the momentum going.

Miriam - I know I work up a sweat doing housework, so I would certainly say it was exercise. Think of what else you could be doing, like sitting around and eating! Working to 3 a.m. sounds dreadful! I don't think I could do it. That latest I've ever stayed up in my entire life was 2:30!

I ran 2.5 miles yesterday, and walked 1.75. I also had to increase the speed, as I kept running off the front of the treadmill. So now I'm doing 5.1 mph. :woohoo:

WTG Monte!

See Monte Run

Run, Monte, Run!

:)

Fat Pants 09-24-2008 08:25 AM

Hi ladies, thanks for the welcome!

Miriam - housework definitely counts! At least you are being active instead of sitting around, which is what I ususally want to do instead of clean. :D

Monte - Thanks for the advice on getting past the three week hump. I think that's a good idea to take an extra rest day. I also think pacing myself is a good idea... I tend to bite off more than I can chew and end up getting burned out and just plain not motivated.

Well I did squeeze in some exercise yesterday despite my gym partner flaking out on me at the last minute. DH and I went for a 30 minute brisk walk last night, so the day wasn't a total loss! He's about a foot taller than me so it's hard work for my short little legs to keep up with his regular pace...but I did it! Usually I'm lagging behind, haha.

Ugh...off to get some coffee. :coffee:

MonteCristo 09-25-2008 08:26 AM

Yesterday when I got on the treadmill I could barely move my legs. I was SO tired, I didn't think I could make one lap. However, miracle of miracles, I managed to run the entire 2.5 miles! I was SO proud of myself, so I ate a cinnamon roll. :o Luckily, I had the calories to spend, but still, what is wrong with me?!? I shouldn't eat to celebrate exercising, it is just crazy!

Fat Pants 09-26-2008 08:10 AM

Hi all! got in 40 minutes at the gym yesterday on the treadmill and elliptical. ILs took us out to dinner where I actually made a smart choice food-wise... :woohoo: I am feeling really yucky today...think it's allergies or the beginning of a cold. I have to go to campus after work today so no gym for me, but hopefully I'll squeeze in a walk later. Have a great weekend, everyone!

MonteCristo 09-26-2008 08:31 AM

I decided to give my legs a rest yesterday, so I just walked my 4.25 miles. It seemed to take a LOT longer not running (duh!). I was really, really getting bored!

miriam101 09-27-2008 01:00 PM

Bed bound today...

Fat Pants 09-28-2008 07:44 PM

Hi everyone, hope you all had a good weekend! I didn't get any exercise in on Friday, but can say we went out to dinner and I made great choices. Woohoo! Finally getting THAT part down... ;)

Yesterday we attempted a walk around the neighborhood but got rained out about 15 minutes into it. We did get in a 45 minute walk today so I'm happy about that. It's back to the gym tomorrow!
