You know, Iv'e experimented with meds for years after I was diagnosed, having all kinds of side effects. One of them made me lactate, and when I went in to find out what the problem was, I found out I have a pitutary tumor! God does indeed work in mysterious ways!

Medication in itself was very stressfull, so I quit taking them in Feb of 07. Since then, I think I've actually maintained, and even improved! I owe a lot of it to my Hubby, and moving into a big new home!

I still get hit with it every now and then. But at least I know it wont last forever!

Shay - I would like to run outside eventually, but I'm extremely susceptable to heat. I get horrible headaches just from standing in the sun, and at the rate I sweat I would probably just dry up and blow away if I tried running outside during the summer. Once it cools down this fall, I plan on doing some outside running, though I'll have to figure out how to carry water with me without throwing my back out. That's cool about your iPod. I love buying myself presents, I always get exactly what I want!!

Pat - I'm doing Denise Austen's Shrink Your Female Fat Zones workout.

Mom and I decided to go to the local Mexican restrurant, so I went completely off plan. Right now I feel like I'm going to explode, but my lovely size 12 pants aren't too tight, which is wonderful (if anything can be wonderful when you're this full). That may not sound like much to be thankful for, but a year ago if I ate this much I'd be busting out of my size 20 elastic waist pants. I probably won't do anything like this for ages upon ages, but it sure was fun!! Fortunately I had the foresight to exercise before we went and ate.....;)

Hello, ladies ! I understand THIS is where one goes to get added motivation for exercising ??

Anyhoo, due to waaaaaaaaay too many body issues, I've been reduced to the recumbent elliptical & recumbent bicycle. Both make me sweat good enough & my heart rate target is ON target. So that's all good -- for the time being.

Any suggestions of what to supplement in the "toning" dept ?? I have some resistance bands, but never really have figured out how to use them. :o I tried to do some weights @ my club, but ended up re-injuring an old injury & needless, THAT turned me off IMMEDIATELY !

So I'm open for any suggestions that won't require me bending or twisting (3 bulging discs & severe sciatica) or running/jumping (2 surgeries on R knee & onset of OA in knees, hips & ankles.)

Yeah, I know -- I'm a walking train wreck ! :D But I do get up every day & do my thing -- just want to add some variety.

Thanks in advance !!

MonteCristo--I'm sure if you checked out some running websites or mags you could find some suggestions for running with a water bottle or other products you can use.

:welcome: Mollikins! What about some body weight exercises: squats, lunges, pushups, planks, leg lifts, shoulder press, bicep curls, etc and then you can move on to small dumbells and move your way up. Pilates is also a great toner. You would not be able to do some of the exercises but there are some you can.

Hi everybody, welcome Mollikins

Last night I was so utterly tired I couldn't speak coherently, but I but on my shoes and did a 30 minute walk - not brisk, but something.. I came home, flopped on the bed (clothes, shoes, cellphone in the pocket and all) and slept until 5:30 AM like that, at while point I woke up rather confused, changed into pj's and conked out again. I finished the summer school teaching, and next week I can go back to being OP at the gym, eating and all.

Shay - you're going to love exercising with the ipod - it makes SUCH a difference!

H&H - good to have you back!

Monte - mmmm Mexican! If you're going to go off program - that's the way to go! LOL You've lost an amazing amount of weight so far!

Pat! Good for you to wok out bad mood with exercise! Beats Ben & Jerry's, haha

Catch y'all later

Dixiemae 07-25-2008 09:57 AM

Hi Everyone~H&H I am so proud of you and CONGRATS BROVO on losing weight!! Crunches~Lay on floor~bend knees to 45 degree angle-feet flat on the floor~low back on the floor no arch at all in your back. Lace fingers behind your head. Do not lower your chin to your chest. Pretend you are holding an apple with your chin. Inhale and lift your shoulders up. Come up only as far as you can. It isn't about how far you can rise, use only your tummy muscles. Try not to bend elbow towards your ears. exhale and return to starting possition. The book says do as many as you can, when you feel you cant do any more do 2 more then stop. Don't try to do to many you will be sore the next day. I hope this helps.

Miriam~You were totally exhausted!! I hope you feel better today. Pamper yourself today, do something special just for you. You deserve it!! Oh but I love Ben and Jerrys Rain Forest Crunch ice cream!!

Welcome Mollikins! Jump in the waters fine.

Last night I did my crunches+33 min walk jog dvd+15min arm back weight training. I really had to talk myself in to the weight training. Did not want to do it. I have not morphed into exercise lady yet. I have a weight training for Dummies tape I might start using. Don't know yet. Catch you all later. I have a very busy afternoon ahead of me. Pat

Mollikins 07-25-2008 10:08 AM

Did 30 min of recumbent :ebike: yesterday -- maintaining speeds from 14-16mph. Got heart rate up to 145bpm but maintained it at 135bpm !!!

Same thing on tap for today. Hope to add 15 mins/day onto next week's schedule. :crossed:

MonteCristo 07-25-2008 11:49 AM

I skipped exercising yesterday (shame on me, I know), but today I'll jump back in. Today I'm going to try and run 2.5 miles. I've decided not to increase my speed until I can do 5K. Then I'll stay there for a while and work on my speed.

Everyone is doing so well!! Keep up the good work!

mrsaugie 07-25-2008 06:57 PM

well i have not even thought about exercising in about a month until today i think in a little while i am going to go to the store and buy a new exercise dvd or two to try and mix things up a little.

Dixiemae 07-26-2008 12:23 PM

Hi Everyone~I am shame faced I didn't exercise at all yesterday. My eating was way off too. I ate a cream filled doughnut like it as a steak. I am back on program today. What happened yesterday has to stay in yesterday. I still have my eyes on that slinky black dress for Christmas. I will win the battle of the Bulge. Hope everyone has a great day. Pat

HoneyMustard 07-26-2008 05:31 PM

Pat - I'll take some of that ice cream filled doughnut, along with the steak! Oh yeah, your in Indiana! Darn!! Hey, don't be too hard on yourself, just think of it as......."my body was in need of sugar! I haven't had any for a long time!" We don't want to shock our sensitive systems!

As for excersise- I am taking the weekend off. I will pick back up on Monday, and hopefully get an extra 20 - 30 minutes in.

Keep on keepin on ya'll

MonteCristo 07-26-2008 06:57 PM

I've made up for the running I missed on Thursday. Friday I ran 2.25 miles, and walked so more for a total of 5.5 miles. Then today (Saturday) I ran 1/4, walked 1/4 for 3.5 miles, then walked some more for a total of 7 miles. To get completely caught up I still need to do my lower body strength exercises. Hopefully I can get them in later today, but if not, then I'll do them tomorrow afternoon.
