Mel - home tonight, any time over the weekend is good. Earlier the better since I will be immersed in paint pots most of the weekend.

Shy Moment 04-17-2008 09:34 PM

Mel
That was a terrific gift. You can take it a little easier now.

Happy
I am so sorry. Sounds like you have done the best you can to take care of this poor cat.

Annie
Slugs could pass the man lol.

happy2bme 04-18-2008 01:28 AM

Thanks very much for the good thoughts everyone

Ceejay - my condolences to you and the family in regards to your cousin's daughter. Thoughts and prayers out to you

Wowser Bowser...

Indiana had an earthquake this morning at 5:38 am. Was lying in bed procrastinating getting up when the bed started shaking, windows rattled and the dog freaked out. 5.4 on the richter scale. Pretty Cool. Hella Bella got right up in my face and was trying to snuggle. Not good when I am supposed to be getting out of bed. That is the Friday excitement!

75 Sunny most of the day with rain moving in late this afternoon. Hopefully I can get some walking in at lunch. Rain tomorrow then 70 and sunny on Sunday. I am lovin' it.

Went to dinner and bowling with DD last night and her work group. Bowled 5 games. Shuwee shoulder is a bit achy this morning, not bad, and it is a good kind of hurt. haha. The best game I bowled was a 131. Yeah, I kind of suck at it but it was fun, no less.

Got to get busy at this job, before they catch on. ;^)

Have a super day everyone!

Love and Hugs

MOrning ladies! Felling kinda yucky here...I think MS has finally set in all the way. Yesterday was pretty rough too, Ran around in the morning taking care of DD2 K registration. I ran out of the house with out eating, and forgot my water too, and I paid for it...then in the afternoon I had to take my mom to the ER. Her doc wanted to make sure she didn't have a blood clot...and thankfully it was just a small inflamation on the lung. She is home resting, and I am trying to catch up from 5hrs in the ER. So today will have to be better than yesterday. Will try to post indies later, my head is swimming right now... and so is my tummy. LOL

Later Chicks!

Shy Moment 04-18-2008 02:53 PM

Darn girl you know better than to not eat and not take anything with you. I bet you do feel yucky. I know you are busy but please take a little time to relax and get something to eat so you feel better. Glad things were ok with your mom.

annie
I guess that earthquake was better than waking up to find the toilet has over flowed all over a new wood floor lol or that it rained and someone left a window open and now the new sofa is wet lol. 131 that is great. I think ( many many many years ago when I let a friend talk me into doing a league with him ) my average was 121. They loved me I was a great point getter for them lol. No I do not bowl. I don't do anything that might chip my nails lol.

Cee
I am so sorry for your family's loss.

diyana 04-18-2008 03:32 PM

Happy Friday Ladies -

I was off today because I have much cleaning to do in preparation for my MIL who arrives on Wednesday. I also have spring cleaning to finish up. I got the guest room all done, went through my closet and found clothes that are too small and put them in plastic totes to store in the basement for when I get down to that size. I also washed some windows. I'll be leaving soon for my doctor appt to learn my blood test results. I'll check back in later with the results. I had a :goodscale: today. According to my scale at home, I have now lost 27 lbs so far, so I met my goal of being down at least 25 lbs by the time I saw the doc.

We're planning on getting our fishing boat out of winter storage this weekend. DH will have to do some basic spring maintenance and then we should be good to get out on the lakes.

Shad - Thanks for letting me know what to expect the next time you pay the States a visit.

Mel - That's wonderful that your kids bought you a month of NS food, plus the book and a grocery store gift card! What a thoughtful and healthy gift!

Annie - Indiana had an earthquake too? Central Illinois had an earthquake at around 2:30 this morning that we felt! And we live north of milwaukee. The news said it was felt from Des Moines to St. Louis, etc. It was a 5.4, which is big for this area but since I lived in California so long, 5.4 isn't too bad. It's been sunny and warm today, though supposedly the rain is coming. As long as Monday is sunny so that I can keep the dogs outside while I scrub the floors. Wow, Annie, you bowled 5 games! YGG! My shoulder and back can usually do 3, but that's my limit. And you bowled a 131? You don't suck! That's pretty darn good (compared to me anyway) Congratulations. I have about a 115 to 120 average and used to bowl in a league to give my team a better handicap.

Ellen - Sorry you're having a rough bout with the morning sickness. You took your mom to the ER? Yikes, how scary! I'm glad it wasn't anything more serious.

CeeJay, Rennie, Happy, Painter, Patty, Ruth, Shaker, Carla and everyone - Hope you're having a great Friday and have fun and/or relaxing plans for the weekend.

Big hugs,

Shy Moment 04-18-2008 04:21 PM

di
Yes, please let us know how the results come out. If it doesn't rain we are going to wash windows. The one real big job I have left to do lol. If it does rain we are going to clean the solarium which is where George ( lop eared bunny ) lives. Takes forever to clean the Windows 5 sets of sliding doors. One on each end and three down the front. Then scrub the carpet and get the furniture and George put back. Glad he is litter box trained and I thought to put down vinyl table clothes in the end where he lives. Makes it all so much easier to clean.

Shad 04-18-2008 06:11 PM

Morning all,

Yikes, a 5.4 earthquake. Don't get them here in Australia - well at least not often. A 5.4 on the scale would have them thinking the end of the earth is nigh. You get them in NZ, big ones - 5.4 would hardly make comment. I well remember we used to have a cockatiel who would sense them coming and make screeching noises and beat himself up against the sides of his cage. There was always blood and feathers to clean up after the event. I've learned to live with them, I don't have to like them. Seems to me that we always get a disasterous one sometime soon after some idiotic country does 'nuclear testing'. I wonder whether the theory still holds water and some one is not telling us that they are testing.

Uneventful flight home last night. Dreadful meal - I do hate pasta dishes after they have been frozen and reheated and I just drunk water because the thought of coffee out of a waxed paper cup didn't do a lot for the senses and the stewie berating me for not eating my chocolate - but I don't like chocolate - nonsense everyone likes chocolate - just goes to prove I am not everyone then doesn't it - are you sure you don't want it?- no take it home and give it to your kids - don't have kids, I will eat it for my supper. If you don't like chocolate, what do you like? Cheese - and thank goodness you didn't give me any - there was some on the pasta - well it wasn't worthy of the name. The conversation went on and on. Nobody seems to understand when I say that unless I am on a binge, I don't eat chocolate. I am apparently a weirdo!!!

My arms feel like a pincushion. Five vaccinations at the Melbourne clinic - I had to have typhoid, tetanus, polio, hep A and hep B and I need to go back to my own doc this coming week for a second Hep A and then 3 weeks later for the third and final. I'm given an emergency first aid kit full of tablets and needles so I had to stow the bag in the hold instead of just having cabin baggage last night. I was dead scared all the way up that the company computer and the druggie kit would get nicked but it seems to be all there in the cursory glance I gave it last night.

Don't know much about bowling, but anyone who can get a score has my vote. Last and only time I tried it, I ended up throwing myself down the alleyway.

Michelle - be interesting to hear what the doc says. Hope it all goes well. Don't let Mel put you off my coming to the States. I have spent years trying to get her laid back and content, but she does the American thing every so often STILL and I have to get out the cattle prod and bring her back to life so to speak. I'm really not all that bad.

Okay - better go get on with the day. DS2 has a bad dose of flu, and Dr said his lung capacity is down. Traces of the old bronchitis there by the sound of things. I still put it down to that rotten job he has and doesn't seem to be able to get rid of or even really want to possibly. It may well kill him off. And that will not be a good thing!

Body balance class calls. I am so not ready for it this morning.

1day@atime 04-18-2008 06:40 PM

Hello Ladies,

Lots going on. I have started back at my morning workouts and boy it's hard to get up at 4:30am. Right now i'm doing 3 times a week but will increase soon to 4. Also working on my food. I haven't started journaling but I'm making an effort to NOT eat fast food.

Shad - Ouch, 5 shots in 1 day. Hope DS2 is doing better.

Mitchelle - WTG on your weight loss. That is great. Hope you get good news from the doc.

Melody - What a great gift.

 to everyone

upswife 04-19-2008 11:16 AM

Morning ladies! Yesterday was not too bad esp since I was away from home all day. DH and I had a UPS fundraiser up in the city, then afterwards we stopped at a friend's house since we were only 15 mins away. Was a nice, but long day all around. Feeling much better, as I made sure I had my water with me all day. As for the day before, I don't know how I forgot about eating breakkie, and I didn't think I would be out so long in the morning. Now I know better! Taking it easy here today, but will probably head to the gym after lunch and get some exercise in.

Everone sounds like they will have an excellent weekend! Take care and enjoy!

happy2bme 04-19-2008 11:59 AM

Good morning ladies,

Can't stay long - busy day ahead. Mr. Feral made an appearance last night. Heaven knows how he hopped a 6 foot fence with 3 legs but he did it. DH tried calling several agencies to trap him - we told them we would pay the vet bill if only they could catch him. No luck - even with the humane society. I tried to walk gently to him and he got spooked and ran like the wind, even on 3 legs. We're going to see if we can catch him in the raccoon trap.

Tonight we are going to see a play. DH has never been to a play so that should be interesting. But before we do that there is much sanding, painting, washing and weeding to be done in the house - hence the rush on my part. I have to work extra fast so we have time to go spend with the kitties tomorrow.

To those who felt the earthquake - all I can say is 1) glad you're ok and 2) :yikes:  I would have been freaking out myself as they talk about the damage we'd have if the New Madrid fault went off. Apparently you got one off a different branch of the fault. My sister has a cockatiel and the bird was just going wild beating itself in the cage too. She got up to calm it down when she felt the rumbling too.

Hope Shad and Mel have a nice conversation today. Good idea about the light Mel - I think it really helps, hopefully it won't aggrivate anything else. Shad - I cringed appropriately at your description of all the shots in the arm :headache:

Bunnies are cool Rennie.

Congrats on exceeding your weight loss goals Michelle. Glad you will get to spend time with the MIL - I remember how you enjoy her visits. Hope you got good news at the doctor. 27 pounds down - had to help :yay:

Ok, sorry - the day is calling me to get a move on. Have a good weekend chicks near and far :grouphug:

Shad 04-19-2008 04:58 PM

Morning all,
Mel - sorry that the battery on the phone was playing up. I will call you as we said to continue putting the world to rights. It was good to hear from you and even though today is NOT my birthday, I don't mind being sung to down the international telephone lines.

Happy - sorry that Mr Feral will not co-operate even tho you have his best interests at heart. Not much more you can do. Wonder why the animal societies will not come out for you. Ours are usually here before you have hung up the phone. Especially if you offer to pay the bills.

Ellen - do take care of yourself. These first months are the worst and it takes a while to get the body back on an even keel. Keep up the water, especially as your weather is getting warmer.

Yesterday was a very non-day for me. I went to the Body Balance class, but came home feeling very wonky. I think the shots caught up on me. I'm sure it couldn't have been the wine and teppanyaki dinner with friends on Thursday! So after class I went home, got some breakfast and then went back to bed for a while. Woke up around 3 in the afternoon. My arms still ache, but I can live with it for the time being. I'm out of practice with shots!!! After DS2 went out for a meal and a movie with his friend, I did the sanding and showered, cleaned up, watched a bit of tv and went to bed. Real exciting Saturday night hey? But at least I can paint today. Should be able to get the final prepcoat and one topcoat on. The final topcoat will be done tomorrow. Kitchen comes on Tuesday - hallelujah.

Carla - what does the words under your name mean on the site please. I can't make an attempt at reading that. Suppose it is something like - Pass the Ouzo and shut up the cat???

The Canadian contingent are very quiet these days.

Okay - I am off. Things to do, people to see, torture to be had (gym weights) and I have some letters to write. And since I will be busy next week, it might be an idea to look at packing some gear for the job the week after and checking to see if the remote assistance thingy (GRAS) actually works on the computer!!! Mind you apart from gym, none of the above will be attempted until the painting is finito for the day.

ceejay52 04-19-2008 10:30 PM

Happy
We have felt the new madrid in the past. I just didn't realize it would be felt in Georgia.

Mel
Thanks for thinking about me. They celebrated her life instead of her death which is better to me.

I've had a busy week end and more food than I should have eaten.

It's late and I've not even started to think about tomorrow being a work day. ugh.

MELODY525 04-20-2008 07:25 AM

HAPPY~ I AM SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT THESE AGENCIES. BUT IF YOU WERE TO BEAT THE CAT THEY WOULD BE RIGHT THERE!! :tantrum: POOR OLD GUY. HOPE YOU BOTH ENJOYED THE PLAY! I LIKE HEARING WHERE YOU TWO GO. :D

CEEJAY~ HAVE A GOOD WORK WEEK. GLAD THEY CELEBRATED HER LIFE. BEST TO THINK OF ALL THE GOOD TIMES

SHAD~ HOW CAN YOU SEE CARLA'S WORDS?? WHERE IS SHE?? SHE HAS GONE NATIVE IN NYC AND NOW LOOK WHAT'S HAPPENED. SHE'S MISSING. THE PHONE WAS DYING AT JUST ABOUT THE RIGHT TIME. BALA WAS ALMOST READY TO GO WHEN I WENT DOWN. HE IS BACK AGAIN TODAY :faint: AN OUT OF TUNE HAPPY BIRTHDAY IS BETTER EARLY THAN ON THE RIGHT DAY....IT COULD SPOIL YOUR SPECIAL DAY!

MANY YEARS AGO WE FELTR A LITTLE SHAKING OF AN EAST COAST EARTHQUAKE. IT WAS SMALL AND I WAS ON A BUILDING ON THE CLIFFS OFF THE RIVER. SCARED ME AND I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON. :yikes:
TURNED OUT TO BE AN ACCOUNTANT WEEKEND AFTER ALL. I SEEM TO BE DESTINED TO HAVE NO ALONE TIME THIS MONTH!?!? :tantrum:
MY EMPTY BOX IS FILLED WITH GARBAGE FROM THE HALL CLOSET. WEEDED OUT XMAS DECORATIONS :hohoho: JEN HAS GIVEN ME PERMISSION TO DO THE ONES IN THE BEDROOM CLOSET. BUT THAT IS ANOTHER BOX AND ANOTHER WEEKEND. THINK I WILL JUST MEL-LOW OUT TODAY :beach: BETTER GET MOVING...THE ACCT IS DUE IN AN HOUR.
HAPPY SUNDAY AND STAY WELL

Shad 04-20-2008 07:27 AM

Are you up and at 'em already Ms Melody?? Bit early on a Sunday to be starting on the rants of the agencies isn't it??

ceejay52 04-20-2008 08:58 AM

Just checking in. I'm at work. It's quiet so far. Hope it stays that way.

Mel
At least I don't have an accountant coming.

Madcat 04-20-2008 11:09 AM

I suspect the Canadian contingent is so quiet because we are all out playing in the sunshine. Spring is a miracle after a bitter winter of snow and cold and more snow and ice. It’s funny to think that just a couple of weeks ago there was still ice in Lake Ontario and now patios are opening and I’ve seen people in shorts. I went for my first bike ride of the year yesterday. I forget the small aches and pains that happen during that first ride - in the hands and the “seat area” and my back. And I’m still astounded by how many people do not even look before walking across the bike path. Early spring oblivion makes biking in April an adventure in the stupidity of others.

Happy ~ I have my fingers crossed for Mr Feral. My kitties were born under the stands of a sports stadium and only ended with a home due to a cat rescue agency. I hope you can manage him - though he’s not going to be very happy about it.

Mel ~ Good for you on the weeding out of things. It’s a good thing. Goofy accountants. How come they work on weekends?

Ceejay ~ Put that working thing out of your mind for a few more hours.

Shad~ I am sure the wonkiness must be from the shots. After all isn’t red wine good for you? Good luck with that painting. Would you like to come and do my bathroom next? Painting is good work for the arms! Enjoy.

Anyway that is all the time I have for now. Waves to all the chicks and sorry I can’t do more personals. I’m off to spend the time in the sun. A patio or sidewalk café waits.

happy2bme 04-20-2008 11:21 AM

Good morning ladies,

The play was dopey. I won't go rushing back to see another. I suppose it is unfair to compare because the ones I have seen before have been large scale productions in Chicago like Les Miserables. Of course I also didn't have to pay $95 per ticket like I did for that one too  But hey, the point was that we were just trying something different so no loss really.

Today is a bright, sunshiney day - perfect for working outside. DH is backed up on home chores so I think he's going to welsh out on going to work at the Humane Society. I might just go myself.

Mr. Feral came by and quietly sat on the front porch for who knows how long until DH spotted him and fed him. I guess he decided that it was too hard to climb the fence to get into the back yard. He seems to be getting along ok tho we may still try and trap him. Sometimes I wonder if we would be interferring with something we shouldn't. He certainly is a fine example of tenacity.

We have new neighbors adjacent to us. They moved in with one screaming kid and she just had another last year. Now don't get me wrong, I love kids but these 2 are the kind that just howl for the sake of making noise. And they get each other started. Yesterday she must have had the baby on the porch because it just cried and cried and cried for 45 minutes straight. There were no sounds of trying to comfort the baby, just the baby crying. And the way the lots are laid out, the sound carries and it's like they are laying in your yard. I don't mind the sound of kids playing and I just love the sound of little toddlers laughing but screamers can go in the house where they belong  Goodbye peaceful yard with the pretty flowers and birds - a refuge of solitude from the hectic pace of life :( . - I kind of liked it when the neighborhood was filled with 70 and 80 years olds like when we moved in

Gosh, don't I sound like Crabby Appleton?

Hope you have a quiet day at work Ceejay. No rumblings either

Mel - you've done some much closet cleaning that I'm amazed that you still have things to toss. If you're up and posting at 5:30 am - hope everything is ok with you.

Shad - maybe Mel just got in the mood to be like you - up before the sun. I kind of thought that 5 shots would have thrown your system into turmoil. Just need a day of rest to let things calm down a bit. I know, I know - no time to sit - right?

I guess the earthquake up north has gotten everyone stirred up down here again. I guess because of the geology, if we had one like that down here it would be quite devistating. And it's a matter of WHEN not IF. Takes alot of money to shore things up so with other financial crisises it earthquake planning takes a back seat. They were trying to get people involved in their neighborhoods to pull together some disaster preparedness and planning. I tried to when I was involved in the homeowners association but no one seems interested so I told DH, we will just make sure that WE are prepared. I'm just glad I'm no longer in the top of a 10 story office building anymore. And I could walk the 10 miles back home from work if I absolutely had to because I'm sure the streets would probably take one of the hardest hits as far as damage goes. Call me crazy, but I do put some thought into these things - I attended a few seminars and they really stress that panic sets in when you have no clue what to do.

And today marks my 4 year anniversary for quitting smoking. I am very proud that I kept my quit in spite of everything that has gone on and the many temptations I have had to take it up again. It wasn't until this past year that I honestly felt I could do this. Up to that point it was - well I'm tempted but I just won't smoke today. Guess I can go throw out that 4 year old unopened pack of cigarettes in the car now

And I'd better get on with chores here. Have a good Sunday ladies.

happy2bme 04-20-2008 11:22 AM

Madcat - wonderful to see you back again  Go enjoy that sunshine - it's been a LONG winter for you folks up north.

carla49 04-20-2008 04:23 PM

I haven't gone native, just working out of town in a communications black hole. Hit and miss ability to log on, no access from my room, nowhere to sit where there is access... I'll try to write a post tonight and paste it in tomorrow; meanwhile I'll do as much as I can in the few minutes I've got.

Ceejay, condolences on your niece. But how lovely that they decided to approach it as a celebration of her life.

Shad, I'm pretty sure my avatar just says "April fish". sorry to be so boring.

Happy, it's good to hear that Mr Feral has not disappeared. Maybe he'll just heal as much as possible on his own, and continue on in his own raggedy, independant way. I'm glad he has found sanctuary on your property while he tries to recover. You're a very kind person; it's so hard to see helpless animals in pain.

Mel, it sounds like your visit with the nephew was really a good one. Which is a good thing, since it delayed our in-person meeting until my next trip to NYC! It would have been a shame to have accommodated him only to have him be a bad guest. And a month's worth of food from the kids! Fantastic! I assume there were no frapps in there..? Speaking of which, I'm glad to say that my curiosity finally got the better of me last week and I tried a frapp. I'm delighted to report I found it thin and boring, so at least that's one addiction I won't be adding to the list...

I'm here at this stupid golf resort in the woods for a week, although I'm hoping to make a quick trip home on Tuesday. I don't golf, and in any case the course is still under two feet of snow. There are only 3 English tv channels, one of them all snow, plus an audio-only versio of NBC... So far I've had a raging headache almost since the moment I arrived Friday evening. And then there's the no-internet problem. Grrr. I don't think I'll accept this contract next year.

Gotta go. Will try to post again tomorrow. Must go grumble at my colleagues some more.

Shy Moment 04-21-2008 03:34 AM

Carla
Are you telling us you have had a better time getting your teeth cleaned lol.

Happy
So glad to see you have seen the cat. Would be nice if you could get him help but sure don't want you to hurt yourself. I love kids, covered in open pit lol. Really, I do like kids. The house was always full of kids when they were younger. Now their friends are still in and out. I do not like kids that yell and scream all the time. Would drive me nuts to have neighbors like that. George does not know he is a bunny he thinks he is a dog lol.

Mad
People frown on you running over the walkers lol. Make sure there are no witnesses lol.

Ruthxxx 04-21-2008 06:21 AM

Still alive and kicking gently. Leg is still giving me grief - I'm hoping this week will be better. Life is accelerating so I can't get in here often but do try to read. to all!

Carla - and here I was thinking you had the glamourous life. Every once in a while you and Shad remind me that sometimes travelling is not all it's cracked up to be. Hope you are back with us soon.

Psssstt. 4 more days until someone's birthday around here.

Ruth - sorry the leg is still giving you problems. Think being in the cold has anything to do with slowing down the recovery?

Last week everyone was talking about the earthquake up north. Now they are talking about another one. Funny thing is - they are saying well - it can go either way - trigger a bigger one OR the last one settled down things and now it will be quiet. Geez, I coulda said the same thing. :dunno:

Good morning Mel - come on out from that pile of boxes in the closet

Shad's probably towelling off from a good workout at the gym. She and Michelle are high fiving each other.

And I'm getting ready for another thrilling day at the computer :comp: :D

Good Monday Morning to Everyone....is it Friday yet??

We had an aftershock last night at 1:30 am, yes I was awake for it. Some nights I cannot sleep well. Wasn't as fun as the last one tho. Today Sunshiney and 75, whew whooo!!

Diyana...How did the blood tests come back? I am sure awesome since you have been exercising, that helps a lot of things. Yes, bowling 5 games...and an after affect, my bootie muscles are quite sore. Kinda hurts so good type of sore. hahaha

Shad, Carla, Madcat...welcome back!! We missed you.

Happy...goodluck with the traps and catching Mr. Ferrell.

Ruthie...hope the leg gets to feeling better.

Hi to everyone!! Gotta go, my walking buddy is here.

Love and Hugs

Happy Monday ladies --

Sorry I was out of touch all weekend. I was super busy cleaning and helping DH with yard work to take advantage of the very nice weather we've been having. My blood test results were not perfect, but very much improved! My doc was VERY pleased with my weight loss and he said for me to keep doing what I'm doing and continue to lose weight and he probably won't have to put me on any medications for my diabetes. I went to the gym on Friday and Saturday, but took yesterday off as I had gotten quite a cardio workout just cleaning. I'm finishing up the cleaning today and will do more yard work later this afternoon.

Rennie - The solarium sounds like a lovely place for George to live.

Shad - Shame that the stewardess wouldn't just accept the fact that you didn't want chocolate and be done with it. Glad that the first aid kit and the computer made it through checked baggage okay. I hope your DS is feeling better. So your kitchen should be just about done, right? I'm so very excited for you!!

Patty - Great to hear from you! :woohoo: for getting up so darn early and doing morning workouts. I just can't bring myself to get up earlier so I can workout before work.

Mel - I'm glad you were able to enjoy some lovely weather too! After a long winter like the one we've had, it's lovely to see the sun and feel its warmth. I'm glad you had such a nice visit with your company. Good for you for motivating the seniors to get moving with Anthony. I hope your accountant day went okay. Hopefully you'll get a little time to relax one day soon.

Ellen - Sounds like you're listening to your body and taking care of yourself. Good for you!

Happy - I'm so sorry to hear that the agencies won't help you with Mr. Feral. Hopefully he'll let you close enough to help him. Sorry the play wasn't good. My DH has been to a couple plays in his life...he'll go to them if they are particularly silly/funny. As an example, we are going to see Spamalot (the broadway musical version of Monty Python and the HOly Grail) next week. He's a big time Monty Python fan, so he should enjoy it. I totally agree with you about screaming kids. Our neighborhood is full of kids playing and laughing, which is fine...but once they start screaming and whining, etc. for the sake of making noise, then they should be given a time out indoors. Maybe I'm a crabby appleton too. :congrat: on your 4 year anniversary of quitting smoking! YGG! Good for you!!

CeeJay - Sounds like the service was nice. I prefer celebrating the person's life and sharing the happy times with others. I hope your work week goes well.

Madcat - I totally agree with you about how wonderful spring feels after a long winter. Funny to think that we had snow and sleet last weekend, and this weekend I was wearing shorts!

carla - I hope the rest of your week goes better.

Ruth - I hope your leg feels better.

Annie - I didn't feel the aftershock, and I'm glad of that. After living in California for most of my life, I've had my fill of earthquakes.

Well, my dogs are outside and barking like crazy, and I have to finish cleaning the bathroom. Then the house will be ready for DMIL, and it'll be off to the gym and grocery shopping.

Have a great day everyone!

Just popping in to say hello--Nothing going on. Still enjoying th quiet.

Shy Moment 04-21-2008 01:32 PM

di
He is as spoiled as the cat and the dog lol.

Melody
A lot of walkers around here, at the park, use the bike trails because there are no walking trails. The bike trails use to be walking trails lol.

Ruth
I know the healing process after that surgery can be long and hard. It was for my mom. Just keep your chin up, you will be better little by little. Do you feel better now than before the surgery?

Happy
We have a 14 year old lab and a 13 year old Persian/Manx cat. We have ( gave some away ) 6 dwarf hamsters and the lop rabbit. I have no idea where he got it but if he thinks he is a wolf he better stop being so darn small and quiet lol.

Shad 04-21-2008 04:14 PM

Quick flyby for me today as the kitchen men are due to arrive in just under the hour. I ned to shower and get breakfast asap. Is putting Kitchen and Men together in a sentence an oxymoron?

Painted myself to a standstill yesterday but eventually got it all done plus a huge laundry mountain moved and by the time the ironing and folding got done my back was telling me all about my day. The painting is not perfect but it is a lot better than it used to be and most of it will be covered by the new cabinetry. Why paint it I hear you ask, well like a lot of things in this house, it was never done previously and the results of unpainted plasterboard and steam, heat, cockroaches and ants have taken it's toll on the condition of the walls. So to ensure that I don't have to take things down and re plaster or re wall at a later time, the walls and ceiling are now covered with a sealer binder paint and a waterproof top coat. I was going to put silicone sealer along the base of the walls to see if I can put a stop to the entry of ants and cockies but ran out of time and energy so it hasn't been done. I will have to spray from the outside as I always have. In order to save a fraction of the cost of wallboards, the builders have left a small gap at the bottom of the plaster board. No doubt at the top too. You only see it when the skirting board comes off. Grrrr.

Okay. I am out of here. Shower, dress, breakfast before they arrive and then keep an eye on proceedings. Who knows what I might learn! Be good and don't forget to sweat.

MELODY525 04-22-2008 07:41 AM

ANNIE~ OMG! :yikes: :faint: MORE SHAKING?? COME LIVE BY ME...THE ONLY THING SHAKING HERE IS ME WHEN I READ YOUR POSTS! ARE THEY EXPECTING MORE?

MICHELLE~ :cheer2: CONGRATS ON THE BLOODWORK!!
WITH THE WAY YOU ARE WORKING SO HARD AT YOUR GOALS, THOSE RESULTS WILL GET BETTER ALL THE TIME. GOOD NEWS ABOUT THE MEDS TOO! WOULD BE SO GREAT NOT TO HAVE TO TAKE THEM LATER ON! VERY NICE TO HEAR THIS.

CEEJAY~ ENJOY THE QUIET!

SHAD~ WHY DID I HAVE THE 21ST MARKED ON MY CALENDAR FOR YOUR DEPARTURE?? I MUST NOT BE READING ALL YOUR POSTS RIGHT CAUSE YOU ARE STILL IN YOUR PAINTER'S OVERALLS IN YOUR OWN KITCHEN  ONE DAY I WILL GET THIS ALL TO RIGHTS!!
GOOD LUCK WITH THE CONTRACTORS!! TRY NOT TO BOX THEIR EARS IN ANY MORE THAN YOU HAVE TO! :lol3:

RENNIE~ WE HAD WALKING PATHS AND NOW SOME ARE BIKE PATHS IN OUR COUNTY PARKS. THE SENIORS THOUGHT STROLLERS AND KIDS WERE BAD BUT THE BIKES ARE ANOTHER STORY ALTOGETHER!

:cofdate: I HAVE FINALLY RUN OUT OF STEAM. FELT IT COMING ON YESTERDAY WHILE WASHING. TODAY IS A MELIDAY! DOING NOTHING AT ALL BUT WATCH TV. I HAVE A SET OF DVDS OF SPIN & MARTY...AN OLD B&W WALT DISNEY SERIES FROM THE MICKEY MOUSE CLUB ERA. I CAN WATCH THEM AND DOZE IN THE SUNLIGHT LATER ON!
HAPPY TUESDAY! :moped:

happy2bme 04-22-2008 08:10 AM

Good morning chicks,

Good grief Mel - Spin and Marty? I thought Tim Considine was cute. Hard to believe he's like almost 70 now :yikes: Enjoy your Meliday - you deserve it!

Shad - as for men in the kitchen - well - most great chefs ARE men surprisingly  I agree with you - probably a very good thing to paint and prime the walls. I noticed a bit of a gap below the skirting in the foyer too. Just assumed it was there so as to give a bit of space for the house settling - never gave a thought as to cutting corners on construction. Or maybe the walls are just slightly bigger and they didn't want to bother taping and mudding up the extra length. Good job tho - quite the workout!

We had a lop too Rennie - sooooo darn cute!

Glad to hear your tests came out so well Michelle - all that dedication has paid off. Sometimes we need that motivation - glad you heeded it instead of running the other way. :D Enjoy the nice weather - even if it does mean working in it

Annie - if you think about it, you are doing modified squats in bowling - with a weight to boot - don't know that I could have done 5 games myself without flinging my arm down the alley too

Not much else to report on. Lots to do at work this week - got very disrupted last week with meetings, prepare for meetings and moving cubicles. Of course no real work got done last week and everyone is looking for everything - like I was sitting there watching TV and eating bon bons last week. Argh... so off to work I go and channel the frustration into power walking or something.

Have a good day  to those I didn't get indies to.

diyana 04-22-2008 08:55 AM

Hello ladies --

Back at work today, but it was sure nice to have a couple extra days off to get things done around the house and yard.

Rennie - Sounds like you have a houseful of adorable, lovable critters. :) I love bunnies, but my dogs are so hyper that DH said they'd probably scare a bunny to death. So I enjoy the bunnies I see at the County Fair and watch with delight as they do the Bunny Steeplechase races where young 4H girls have trained their bunnies to jump over small hurdles. It's adorable.

Shad - I hope the kitchen installation went well! Sounds like painting areas of the wall that are hidden is a very wise decision! Good for you!

Mel - Thanks for your nice compliments! My hemoglobin A1C (which is an average of your blood sugar over 2-3 months) went from 6.5 down to 6.1. Normal is less than 5.9, which is where my doctor wants me to be (hopefully by my next visit). I should be able to do this, if I keep doing what I'm doing and maybe cut back on 1 or 2 servings of carbs. My nutritionist said I should try for 12 to 13 servings of carbs a day (a serving is 15grams), and I probably go a bit over that. So I'm gonna start gettin' real with the carbs and not just count points. Enjoy your relaxing and MEL-low, Meliday!

CeeJay - Enjoy and savor the peace and quiet!

Happy - Thank you for your support! Being diagnosed with diabetes was in a weird way the best thing that ever happened to me. It jolted me out of denial (that ain't a river in Egypt) and kicked me hard in the arse to get really serious and diligent! As a result, I'm feeling better every day and have more energy to enjoy life. It was great working in the yard this weekend and yesterday! I totally enjoyed the sunshine and worked up a great "glisten" as my trainer calls it (he says women don't sweat - to which I remind him that I sure as heck do!). I hope your work day/week gets better. Go for a terrific Power Walk to vent your frustration. My company is starting a walking club from 7 to 7:45 am twice a week starting on May 1st. I'm definitely signing up! That way, if I end up going fishing or chatting with MIL rather than go to the gym, I'll still get my workout in. And if I go to the gym anyway, I'll be burning even more calories.

A big  to everyone! I hope you all are enjoying your day and your week!

Love and hugs,

carla49 04-22-2008 09:50 AM

A quick hello from the wilds of Quebec. Finally got connected to the net after about 40 min of trying, then 15 verrrry slow minutes reading my emails, and now there's no time to chat before getting back on the job. So a  will have to suffice.

Mel, enjoy your day.

Shad, good luck with the kitchen men!

Di, bravo on the improved results! We should all be following your example!

Happy, I see you're enjoying the job as usual. How's Mr Feral doing???

Gotta go.

Shy Moment 04-22-2008 01:01 PM

Carla
Glad to see you at least got on the net.

di
Our lab is old so she doesn't bother with the rabbit. Heaven knows what a young lab would do. Probably want to eat the thing lol.

happy
Funny to watch the thing run around the kids in circles like a puppy.

Melody
The paths have become a real problem. The strollers were a bother but hey everyone likes to walk. The bikes are another story, they run people right over lol. I loved spin and Marty. Thought the shows were great fun. Ok I am older than I am I think lol. I don't tend to like much of anything on tv anymore. I love the older stuff.
