Hi, Elyn! If you can't find a wagon, any ol' vehicle will do, c'mon! The wagons seem to have safety issues, anyway, tossing chick out and onto the sides of the road :D.

Marie, I say, vive la France! Although now the French, those slackers, are being told to be more like Americans. The primary source of most of my problems is the lack of time to plan and prioritize. Things will only get worse if I don't get out in front of my schedule. I've been practicing taking control of my schedule, by not allowing people to jam yet one more meeting in the only bit of free time I have in a day full of meetings already....:nono:

Carol, Thanks for reminding me about knitting. I should find a small project that I'm excited about, and get moving. For a while it was fun just to knit a bunch and then unravel when I made a mistake, kinda like playing the scales on a piano.

Eating a little better each day, although not nearly as well as in early April. I did a 30-minute workout this morning, and I'll do at least that much more this evening. Tomorrow I'll spend most of the day getting my hair done, and getting a free facial massage at the mall, so I'll be forced to relax if I want to or not. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Carol - I hope your DH is soon feeling lots better. That was very sweet what your little DGS said. He sounds like such a darling. Sorry to hear that things are a bit rough for you at work too right now. Seems like there's a lot of that going around! Good for you to take personal day to decompress.

Elyn - I keep jumping on the wagon too - but it keeps going into reverse! All of us on this thread have been having a bit of a hard time lately, that's why it's so great to have each other to for the support we all need to keep plugging along. Tomorrow's another day and we can always start fresh.

Judy - I'm sorry you're having so much stress . I hope you'll have a nice relaxing weekend (I'm sure the hair appt. and facial will help you unwind). I hope that the situation at work will improve soon.

Marie - Your birthday party with the pups sounded like fun. You'll soon be splish splashing with Kai in your pool. It must be pretty hot where you are as it's 94 deg. here today and I'm craving 60's and rain! We may go to the coast tomorrow (with about a zillion others) to get a cool breeze.

My DH had his annual checkup and it turns out that he has high blood sugar. Not full fledged diabetes, but close. He's going to have to change his eating habits and do more exercise. We don't eat any junk food, so it won't be a huge change - just no rice, potatoes or white bread. He isn't overweight but could stand to lose 10-15 lbs. Of the two of us, I would have thought I'd be the one to have high glucose as it runs in my family quite a bit. He's a bit concerned about it, understandably, but hopefully we'll both benefit from a few tweaks to our diet. Maybe it's the "wakeup call" we both needed. It's horribly hot here and I can't wait for it to cool down. The heat makes me swell up like a balloon and I can't get my rings off.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Marie 05-16-2008 08:48 PM

Hi all, just a quick checkin to get me out of the kitchen. OK, the wagon jokes are funny. Throwing chicks off, going in reverse. At least we can laugh. I'm making BBQ chicken breasts on the BBQ and as Penny mentioned, it's hot so perhaps I won't have to light it. :)

Judy, enjoy the hair appt. I love having my hair brushed and the washing at a salon is the best massage in the world. I've never had a facial massage but it sounds great.

I just checked and the pool went up 6 degrees today. Up to 75, I think tomorrow it'll be close to 80 and that's good enough for me. I will be going in. I "tried on" my wetsuit and it's to short. Last year when I ordered it, I went by the weight chart (which I was borderline and even more so this year) but, I didn't notice the height. I did today as the legs were a bit short. It's max is about 1 - 2 inches shorter than me. :( So I'll wait till tomorrow. Also the PH is way low so we're working on the chemicals.

Kai will have her first swim soon. I need to teach her how to get out if she falls in. Kody never learned as he's terrified of the pool. Blizzard is a little fishie and can get out in all four corners. Mostly she likes to sit on the deep end chairs and survey her pool :)

Time to cook I suppose...
Marie

Well, we all seem to be in good spirits! I'm feeling better after a busy but productive weekend. I spent a whole day at the salon, which was tedious, but my hair will look nice for Mom's big party on Saturday. The free facial lady at the mall was ill, so that didn't pan out, but that's okay--I'm using a gift certificate for a fancy-schmancy facial at the Red Door Spa on Friday. Had a fun Thai lunch with some old friends on Sunday, and did a few hours of office and volunteer work.

I've changed my profile to show another loss. Yesterday's weight was 211.5. I might not see 210 by tomorrow, which was my seven-week goal, but it's still possible by Memorial Day weekend :carrot:. I'm on program, and doing better with the evening over-munching. I've also gotten into the swing of doing two full workouts a few days a week.

I have to run, so I'll try to come back for personals later. I hadn't checked in this weekend, and didn't want another day to go by without saying hi!

Marie - I hope your pool is soon warm enough to swim. Bummer about the wetsuit. Kai will have a ball swimming with you.

Judy - Congratulations on the loss on the scale! :carrot: I'm rooting for you to reach your goal weight by Memorial Day.

Carol & Elyn - I hope everything is going well with you too.

I'm feeling like I'm losing weight again and will weigh in on Friday. I'm sure I've been burning lots of calories with all the yard work I've been doing lately. Food has been good too. It's a nice side-effect of watching my hubbies diet and cutting out some of our snacks or having other, lower calorie snacks. We've been eating a lot more veggies and a lot less starches. I just read somewhere that if you cut just 100 calories a day and do 100 calories worth of exercise you can lose 20 lbs. a year.

We're getting the landscapers in on Saturday to finish up the yard around our new patio. We've done quite a bit ourselves but some of the heavy work is just too much for our backs!

Marie 05-21-2008 02:54 PM

Hi all,

We're a quiet thread these days. :(

My trip to Reno was great. The Carrie Underwood concert was excellent other than the sound engineer didn't quite understand his/her job as too much amplification distorts the sounds and crackles the speakers. Oh well, it was still awesome.

I did get to swim in my pool on Saturday. It made it to 80 degrees and now it's cold and cloudy again so who knows when I get to go again. Besides I'm returning to Reno on Friday through next Wednesday. I will bring my computer on that trip. So I'll check in from there.

Food is bad, so bad it's almost funny. But I know that's me and I'll get on track soon. I didn't exercise yesterday as I left Reno at 7:30 and had to teach a class till 8:00 at night. I dind't exercise this morning as it poured and the doggies would make my house muddy if we doggie walked. I promised them a walk after work so I will be exercising. Also a co-worker liked the idea of a lunchtime walk this morning, but one never knows when lunch rolls around...

Penny, landscapers - that would be awesome. Bambi landscapes our yard. I bet the professionals do a better job!!!!! The 20 pounds a year always sounds good, but I never eat the same cals per day even when I'm angelic. So it's hard to say 100 cals per day since I can't be a machine. Those scientists see the world through rose color glasses. Now the exercise, that I can increase more machine like as that's very regular.

Judy, WOW on the weight loss. You are just cruisin' down the scale.

Carol and Ely, I hope all is well with you.

Marie

penpal 05-22-2008 02:02 PM

Boy, it has been quiet around here lately.

Marie - I'm glad you enjoyed your trip to Reno. The Carrie Underwood concert sounded like fun. It's cooled down a lot here too, so hopefully the sun will shine on Memorial Day. We dragged out the old BBQ so I now have to think of something healthful to grill on it. We only use it a few times a year but maybe we'll do more BBQ's now that we have a nice patio where we can sit out and eat. "Landscapers" sounds a bit posh, but they are just a couple of hard working guys who are going to spread about 7 yards of dirt to fill in all the holes and gaps left after the construction. They are also going to plant 5 big arbor vitae trees so we get some privacy from our neighbors and these will also hide the parking area a bit.

Judy, Carol & Elyn - I hope everyone is doing great!

I sneaked a peek at the scale, even though my "official" weigh in is on Friday and I'm down another pound. So I've actually lost about 3 lbs. in the past few weeks as I hadn't kept my tracker up to date and was up to 196. I'll only change it if I'm down to 193 tomorrow. Now I finally feel I'm back on track to my lowest weight of 185 last September (before I went to England). I've been stuck so long, it's great to finally start losing again! :carrot:

penpal 06-06-2008 07:19 PM

Is it just me, or are 15 days of posts missing????

girlieyorkie 06-06-2008 07:31 PM

Finally, we are back online. I tried to check in several times earlier but the site was down.

Still not doing good with food plan, as well as exercise.:( I've been playing Wii sports and able to increase my heart rate a little, but I don't know if I can count that as exercise.:?: I do break a sweat though, but maybe it could be just hot flushes.:dunno::rofl:

I've been brave and updated my ticker, which is up 3# :( On the bright side, I'm still able to hold on to the "5 pounds lost chick" on my signature.:smug:

Penny, Marie, Carol and Judy~ hope everyone is doing great.

Penny~ we were posting at the same time.
Yes, some posts are missing, I think they were not able to do a complete backup.

penpal 06-07-2008 12:48 PM

Hi chickies. In case you were wondering what the heck happened to all our posts, I found this announcement from Suzanne, who is a moderator of the site:
http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/announcement.php?f=202

Well, I guess we'll just start over where we left off! I'm on track so far this weekend.

Marie - I hope your cold is better and that you took Friday off to recover.

Judy - I'm going to up my exercise on our challenge. I hope you got your power back on after that terrible storm.

Carol - I hope your back is better.

Juls - How is everything down under? I hope your ankle is feeling better.

Elyn - Good to have you back! Sorry to hear you've had a little setback with the weight loss, but I'm glad to hear you're back on track and increasing you exercise.

The weather looks like it's clearing up, so hopefully I can burn off a few extra calories with some yard work this weekend.

Have a great weekend everyone!

judydc 06-07-2008 04:12 PM

Gee, I wish I could lose pounds as quickly as 3FC lost 2 million posts!

Hooray, my power was back by Friday evening. I tossed a lot of perishables from my frig. Some of the food was probably okay, but after a 48-hour blackout, I'd rather be safe (and a little poorer) than sorry. Luckily I hadn't done any major shopping for a few weeks.

Hi, Elyn! Don't worry about that gain, you'll sweat it off in no time. I've read that the Wii games are good, but that you should mix them up with more intense cardio after a few weeks.

Penny, I'm hanging in on the first week of the challenge. I think I'll see a little loss by Wednesday (weigh-in day). Now that I can use my DVDs and my AC (the heat index is 110), I'm back to working out. :carrot:

I'm going to the baseball game tonight, so I'm trying to eat lightly, so that I can have one special ballpark thing at the stadium. Probably not a pretzel, though--that gluten-free one I had last time was a waste of money!

Hi all, I agree with Judy, too bad weight losses aren't as easy as data losses. :) I'm still a bit on the sick side. Nasty bronchitis. But I did venture out of the house today. I took Kai for her vet appt, then DH and I went to town and bought a smaller freezer (I put the old one on Craigslist a couple minutes ago) and a peach tree. Then I came home and napped. At least the cold weather isn't making me crabby to be outside in the summer heat while sick. :) Judy, I'd love your heat index. Then my poor FRIGID pool could warm up.

Elyn, you still have a loss posted and that's great. Summer's here (at least everywhere but here in the USA) and you can get out and move more.

Judy, enjoy the ballpark. Hotdogs sound right at the park. I hate them usually but there's something about a dog on a hot summer's night watching a game (preferably football as I hate baseball).

Penny, are you enjoying our summer yet??? Thanks for the link to why the posts disappeared. I hope you got yard work done.

Carol, hope all is well.

Food is on track as eating isn't fun and tasteful. Exercise - I walked through Home Depot without an asthma attack so that was something. ;)

Hello everyone I am going to try my best to post better but I think the data took some of mine too. I agree too bad lbs didn't go with the data. I am starting over today with trying to get back on track. My back is still kicking my butt but you know me I don't give in easily so its most likely not helping things. But I did take friday off and have been not doing too much in the line of lifting etc. I painted a dresser I purchased from my friend it was hers when she was a baby and has some great space to utilize for my sewing, jewelry making etc. and a spot where clothes should be hung. I will use that to store two of my sewing machines and have hubby give me on more shelf on that side. My sewing computer room is a bit crowded but it will be more organized. I did manage to kayak yesterday and glad I did. My friends helped with the lifting on and off it felt great to get on the lake. It is only about 5 min from my house but not my favorite lake. We did have a good time though. It is shallow then very deep and some big boats come out there too. We stayed mostly in the bay area saw some cool fishes and birdies. We went out to the island two times once chased back in because of a storm brewing but never developed. So I think calorie wise we did good. We did have cheese and crackers out there though that could of been healthier next time I will pack it a bit better. I did take salsa not thinking wow now way to eat that. Now picture 4 kayaks together on the edge of the water trying to all sit still long enough to share some goodies we had our paddles trying to connect us. How funny we must of looked. I guess the bags with food just were passed around but by the time yah got the cracker you already ate the cheese. Hah hah. I did bring salsa forgot the scoop chips. Just as well I guess it would of been crazy. Lots of laughing and exercise too. Yah had to scoot through the deep area pretty fast ensuring no big boats were coming little muscle pushing but that was good. My back didn't feel any worse for it. It seems to hit me more when its late evening. Who knows?
Just wanted to say Kyle and everyone else I am once again jumping on the wagon. Had my whole wheat bagel for breakfast. That will hold me over til my 10 snack then lunch will be a salad. I am going to take some healthier choices to the office to keep in my desk. Tonight it is to be 95 so a cool supper to be made and easy. I have some shrimp so maybe just those and some veggies and a baked potatoe. Raspberries for dessert from last summer. Gotta use them up before more come soon. Well gotta fly. I am trying to wash my car before work today it is a mess.
Marie maybe we can motivate each other and ask everyone else to for some good food ideas or lets all share a healthy recipe. Anyone game?

Marie 06-09-2008 01:30 PM

Hi everyone,

I'm back at work - with a fever and a little bit of a dizzy head. The coughing is subsiding but I wish I felt all the way better. But I'm better than yesterday and so that's progress. I did walk 1 mile yesterday - slowly with the doggies. Tonight I was to go to a meeting making the day 13 hours, but I asked my boss to be excused as I was doing the video but my co-leader was doing the presentation. So i'm providing her with the video and not going. Yeah!!!

My interest in the taste of foods is getting better as I'm healing. I actually had something spicy and tried BBQing a pork roast yesterday . It was really good.

Carol, the kayaking sounds so fun. If I was you, I'd go out tonight and capsize it. 95 is a bit warm. Someday Penny and I will have warm weather again.

Marie

penpal 06-09-2008 01:54 PM

Judy - I hope you had fun at the ballpark. Too bad you had to throw all that food out - especially with the price these days!

Marie - I'm glad you're feeling a bit better but it sounds like you still need to take it a bit easy, at least for a few more days. Good thing your co-worker could help out with the presentation. It's still cold and windy here but it's supposed to warm up on Wednesday and stay warm over the weekend :crossed:.

Carol - Sounds like you've been having a lot of fun, despite your bad back - at least you don't let the pain stop you from doing your favorite activities. Your kayak/picnic sounds like a blast! I can just picture you passing around the cheese and crackers and trying not to capsize . Your new dresser sounds very practical and will help organize your many crafts, etc. As per your suggestion, I'll have to think of a good low cal recipe to post.

Juls & Elyn - I hope everything is going well for you.

I've been busy catching up with office work as my DH will be out of town for a few days and I needed to get some stuff done before he leaves. I'm hoping the weather will clear up enough for me to do a few things outside. The flower beds are looking great and my peonies are wonderful this year (maybe because of all the extra rain!) The roses are late too this year but it looks like we'll soon have lots of blooms. We bought each other a new wrought iron arbor for our anniversary and I'm training a purple clematis on it. It matches the one at the other end of the garden which I have trained two climbing roses on.

I'm on track for my challenge with Judy and hope to show a loss on Friday.
