Start of Week 3 - Day 15
Hi all,
Judy, the start of your Monday sounds just fun as can be. Jack-hammering??? I'd want someone's butt for that. At least the boring meeting is canceled. I've always said that under the layers of fat is some mighty fine toned muscles - I guess we share that. :D Penny, enjoy getting the bandages off today but don't overdo it. I don't know about north of here - but our weather today is yucky. Well worth it for the heavenly weather we had this weekend. I'm doing good eating wise so far this morning. I swear mornings are my nemisis. Munch, munch, munch is currently dream, droll, dream. I doggie walked this morning. hey were so excited as I haven't been available since last Wednesday. I think they thought I didn't love them anymore (although Princess Blizzie loves her new throne). I have loads of work I don't want to do. I suppose I should get to it. :( Marie |
Judy - That was a stroke of luck having your tedious meeting canceled yesterday. Mondays are always a drag anyway, so that was a bright spot. No wonder you are fed up with your apartment with all the inconveniences you've had lately. I'm glad your gums are feeling better. Muscle definition is good. I'm hoping to see more of mine too as the weight comes off (I know it's lurking there somewhere )
Marie - The weather is back to normal, i.e. yucky, but Spring was nice while it lasted on Sunday . I'm glad Blizzie approves of your new couch, it's so important that our pets live in the lap of luxury :). I always think it's nice how our animal companions allow us to share their homes!. My leg feels so much better with the cressings off. I'm still a bit bruised, but I think the operation was successful. I'm wearing my support hose, which are quite sheer thigh-highs (way easier to put on) and very comfortable - a far cry from the old kind of "granny" stockings I used to wear and gave up on. At $70 a pair they should be comfortable! I'm keeping busy with housework and gardening so I guess that counts as exercise. |
Penny, I'm glad you're feeling better and have good expectations that the surgery was a success. I totally agree that our pets should be living the high life. Unfortunately Kodiak thinks the new couch is a hurdle and he's having a blast flying up and over - occasionally using it as a launch pad. Last evening he had to have jumped over be at least 4 times. He's such a bum.
Judy, I hope today goes better than yesterday morning. Tuesdays are a step closer to weekend. Speaking of weekend, I have NO plans this weekend. No skiing, no traveling. although DS1, GS and almost DIL are coming for a visit. I guess I'm easing into the summer stay at home schedule slowly. :) Food was good yesterday but it was a struggle. I wanted food, I felt deprived all day and resentful that I'm not skinny. Oh, I hate days like that. Today is better, but I had a more calorie breakfast so maybe that was it. either way. I could have eaten till my stomach blew up the way the munchies were controlling EVERY thought. I took the doggies out this morning again. Brrr. 27 and windy. i'm still cold 4 hours later. But the spoiled pups are happy. And that's all that truly matters. :) Marie |
Yaay, Tuesday was my "Hump Day," since I'm only in the office three days this week, and it was several times better that Monday. Except for having to mail big income tax checks to Uncle Sam and the Old Dominion . Oh well, at least I can stop sulking over it, and move on to something new to complain about.
My scale recorded another pound lost, so 214.5 this morning :carrot:. I'm sorta shocked, that's five pounds in two week. Tapeworm, perhaps? It's been a long time since I've been able to lose in little whooshes like this, so I keep wondering what's "wrong." But perhaps I've tweaked things just enough to get past the plateau I've been in forever. Onward! Marie, congrats on winning the struggle! As ex-slave and abolitionist Fredrick Douglass said, without struggle, there can be no progress. Your dogs sound liek fun, I wish I could meet 'em. Penny, I'm glad to hear that you doctor's visit went well. Who ever heard of attractive supprot hose? They used to look like Ace bandages. Next they'll be puttin' a man on the moon! I am on cruise-control re my program. I did two half-hour workouts today; my body needs a little rest from the stepped-up workout schedule. I had a protein shake for b'fast, oatmeal for AM snack, veggie soup and chicken-artichoke salad for lunch, a South Beach 100-calorie bar for PM snack, and a cup of fish soup, a veggie burger and mimxed veggies for dinner. Maybe no dessert, we'll see. Have a good evening! judy |
Hi all,
I'm at home this morning as I have a 3rd day of having low grade fever. Other than the achy from a fever, I feel relatively ok. It's odd though - I don't have a clue what's causing it. I have a meeting this afternoon so I'll be going in for that. :carrot: Miss Judy, you're just cruisin'. If you look back to April 2007 - do you know how much you weighed? Congrats on that whoosh. I haven't exercised this morning and have gone back and forth about a light treadmill walk. Food is good so far today as I haven't eaten yet. :D Yesterday was good and the diet is on track. Penny, I hope you're feeling even better today after the surgery. Marie |
Marie - I'm sorry you're not feeling well. Try not to overdo it till you're feeling better. Let's hope we're all soon whooshing like Judy :D.
Judy - Congrats on the "whoosh"! You are so funny. Your "tapeworm" comment could trigger a whole new diet fad! :yikes: It's funny how we think there's something "wrong" when we get a whoosh - they seem to come out of the blue sometimes. Keep up the good work! I'm doing great after the surgery and have hardly any pain. I already think my knee feels better and I'll know for sure once the bruising goes away. I feel very energetic and it would be great to be able to get out and do some planting, but the weather is back to winter temps and so grey and dreary. At least the grass seed we sowed a couple of weeks ago to cover the bare areas from the old sheds and trees is sprouting. We've decided to go ahead and have an extra garage built. We have two but the third one will be good for all my DH's yard equipment, tractor mower, etc. A regular shed is just not big enough and a garage will add more value to our property. I think the style will also compliment the house as it will have the same siding and roof. I can hardly wait for them to start work on our patio/garage project. It's going to make such a difference. I'll post a photo when it's all done. |
Marie, I hope you get to the bottom of what's ailing you. Spring fever? I don't remember my weight from a year ago--it's in one of my many unfinished logs at home--but it was probably around 225. I spent most of last year creeping up on 220 :snail:, which is why I'm so happy about thee past two weeks.
Penny, your garden is calling out your name, isn't it? You'll be digging around in the dirt before you know it. Tonight I must pack up and prepare for an early flight to Oakland. I will be able to check in most days, I think. I've already planned my plane snacks--protein and veggies got me through fine before--and will take fitness gear. I will avoid Ghiradelli's Chocolate! judy |
Ghiradelli Chocolate is just so fantastic. I'm a dark chocolate fanatic. I have my 1.5 - 2 T. dark choc M&Ms every day and if there are a 70 left over calories for the day, I have another serving - as I just did. :)
My fever broke again a couple hours ago and it didn't come right back as it has been. So I'm having hope. I went to work for 2 hours and did my presentation. I have another tomorrow. My throat didn't hurt before I started but it did after speaking for an hour straight. I just sold my Gazelle - yeah!!! and DS2 sold the same lady his treadmill. He loves mine so he said sure. I told the woman she now has a complete gym. I tried to throw in the Pilate's machine for free but she didn't want it. Heck I can't give it away... food is still good today. I'll be a little short on cals, but since I didn't exercise, that should be ok. Penny, our weather today is absolutely beautiful. I'd have gone out if i was shivering in my 83 degree house. I'm very glad you're doing good after the surgery. Judy, have fun in Oakland. So we can say that you lost 10 pounds this year and are doing it the right way 100%. AND (drum roll please) you've lost 39.5 pounds according to your signature under avatar. That's so FANTASTIC!!!!!!! Marie |
Judy - I hope you have a nice trip to Oakland. Steer clear of that Ghiradelli chocolate . Good idea to plan your plane snacks.
Marie - I hope whatever bug you had has gone away. It's funny you couldn't even give away your Pilates machine! Have you tried Craig's List? I had a fairly good day but succumbed to a few squares of chocolate with hazelnuts. Lunch was fairly low-cal, so I still have enough calories left for a light dinner. We could get snow on the weekend - talk about crazy weather! I've just planted a lot of annuals, so I'll have to cover them up if it freezes. Maybe we're entering the next ice age. |
Hi, Chickies! The trip west was fine, window seat in an exit row, XM radio and DirectTV. And I paced my snacks well--2 eggs, two clementines nuts and a crabmeat-chickpea salad--wo I never felt deprived about passing on the bagged goodies that were being handed out. I had a cup of soup and about half of an enormous salad for lunch. Dinner was arranged by foodies here in SF, though, so it was a bit of a bacchanal. I did okay, but ate more than normal, and chocolate gelato . Let's hope that have a splurge now and again is good for my metabolism! We'll see. Back on track today. I did an early more bike workout, and will head over to the meetings shortly.
Oh, Penny, I do hope it doesn't snow on your new flowers! At least you didn't get an earthquake, like those folks in Indiana. Marie, I did buy a little bag of G's dark chocolate, but I haven't eaten any (which is stunning). I have a huge bar of dark chocolate at home; now and again I'll have a block of it (1/3 of a serving) for dessert. But it's coming to an end. I think it will be safe to have the G's squares at home now. I'm getting better at not obsessing of the presence of treats in my home. Gotta run! judy |
Hello everyone how I have missed this site and all of you. The trip was beyond wonderful and my gs is so darn cute. I just had a great time ate a little too much but I am now home and trying to get into the swing of home life and my work. The weather their of couse was beautiful little rain but on the island yah just take off in another direction and no rain. The whales were very active we spotted 32 according to the hubby whom was tracking them. He is the one whom said so what a whale then really enjoyed watching them and finding them from the beach shoreline. I swam in the ocean, enjoyed my time with the kids, ate lots of pineapple and av.ocado's oh no and wow do your younger folks are always hungry. Seems like we were always ready to eat again. I have a beautiful golden tan and hope to keep it nice not wearing coverup makeup. We had our own apartment at the kids home. Billy changed his office into an apartment and we had our own kitchen didn't use it much only for morning coffeeTrying to get back into the swing of a routine here. Our weather at home is in the 80's so not to much of an adjustment there. Work I started the next day after my return that was pretty crazy as I had been awake 24 hrs. but hey it was okay. Some folks not in my own office but other parts of the agency were surprised they granted me 3 weeks off at one time. My supervisor said she knew some were making comments out of jealousy due to they don't have even 3 weeks for the year. She responded well saying I have worked 10 years for the company and deserved every min. I told her that it doesn't bother me as I am glad she see's some folks as just trying to cause issues were there isn't any good eye opener. I will catch up on the whats going on here I did see Marie you have sold some items good for you. I also know there is a site called freecycle.com I am told and if you just want to give away something folks will come get it so if yah have any want to get rid ofs it might be the place.
Judy how is the house hunting going? My daughter is waiting till next year to sell hers due to the current issues with trying to sell. But its a buyers market and you might get a great deal buying. Good for you. How exciting! Penny the pain I had after knee surgery was a releif from the actual pain everyday that I had. I have had good luck with mine other than some swelling when I over do. But not often little advil and away I go. So hope your recovery is a great one. I am going to start to do my journal on monday and start my exercise program at the gym too! Going out in my kayac today with some friends hoping hubby could bring his for the first time but he over did on the first day home in the yard work area and is now suffering from back pain and neck. Never a dull one. He did pretty good with the trip and was in better spirits this trip. Of cours he just couldn't get enough of the grandson neither could I. They are great parents and want only the one child and thats fine don't blame them its tough to raise children with the expenses these days. Little Bear waited almost everyday on the porch for our return. He did well though considering it was 3 weeks. I am off to a conference on tues. for 2 days in Saratoga New York it s real pretty there horse racing country. It is only 2 hrs away so not to bad of a drive and real pretty one. One of my close friends from work and I have attended the conferences there before so know our way around. Well sorry so long but wanted to catch up. I think the scale is in order for monday. Might get me to jump start myself a bit.... Its great to be in touch with all of you again and yes I need some support to get jump started!! |
Carol - Welcome back! :hugs: It sounds like you had a fabulous time in HI. I'm glad your DH enjoyed himself too. It must have been great seeing your family and the new grandbaby. I'm kind of back on the wagon but today wasn't too good as my DH bought a big bar of chocolate and I couldn't resist :o. Tomorrow I'll try to do better (now all the chocolate is gone!)
Judy - I'm glad your trip went well. It sounded like you were traveling first class with the delicious (and healthy) food you took along for the trip. It did snow a little on my flowers but the temperature stayed above freezing. They say we're in for more snow tonight so I'm hoping it won't get too cold for my pretty flowers! Marie - I hope you're having a great wekend. I've been dashing outside doing some gardening between rain/snow showers - it's just crazy here! Everyone is wearing their winter jackets and leaning into the freezing wind. We went to Home Depot to look at plants, but my DH forgot to wear his winter jacket and it was so cold we had to go home without buying anything. It must be hard on nurseries, etc. as it's been lousy every weekend (except last weekend when it was nearly 80 deg.!) It's supposed to "warm up" to the 50's next week. Have a great weekend, everyone! |

Hi everyone,
Sorry I wasn't here yesterday. I was rearranging my office at work and DGS came home with me last night. DS and almost DIL arrived last night so it's been a full 24 hours. Now DS is surfing on his laptop and I'm on mine as dinner cooks. Carol, welcome back. It sounds like you had an awesome time. That's wonderful. I hope you have fun kayaking today. Penny and I would need parkas to do that this weekend. Our weather is cold and yucky. Big UGLY flakes (as the ski area is now closed those white things are just plain ugly). Penny, you are a die hard for your flowers. I wouldn't dash out between snow. Besides that strong winds, it's too cold. And it's probably better you didn't buy any plants as the nurseries roll all the plants in at night (at least here in the higher elevation). Judy, your trip sounds like it was perfect. CONGRATS on staying the course. Isn't it cool how victorious one feels when staying on track in circumstances that normally derail? I know last Saturday's road trip was a success. Penny funny you mention Craigs.list as that's where I listed the gazelle and pilates machine. I'm going to give the pilates machine to the salvation army if it doesn't sell soon. BTW, I'm buying a dog igloo off craigslist tomorrow as I chatted with the man that has one for sale. Kodiak loves the dog igloo now that I put a bed in it. Blizzard needs one and the doggie I might adopt will also need one. so getting one for 50 bucks is so great. Off course I need my shephard's hook and take off over the mountain (that image is for Judy) tomorrow. Food is right one and no exercise today. Bad me. Oh well, I'm enjoying DGS - I bet Carol can reallly relate to that. :) TTYL. Marie |
So sorry to hear about your weather conditions not to brag but here its been extremly unusual with weather in the 80's crazy but lovely. We grilled after our trip to kayac yesterday. I am really into grilled chicken strips with wing sauce. So much better for us than wings no real fit other than the little butter I add and if you figure 1 tablespoon between several servings shared by others not bad at all. I was cleaning out my clothes closet today trying to jump start the season give away bag, camping bag and then a garage sale bag. Glad to say a few thing were a little tight in the waist nothing some abs won't get rid of and the fit actually was better than I expected. I am pleased with that and I don't really need to many things for the summer some new work tops thats about it. I am trying to be conservative with my spending on what I don't need we'll see how long it last hah hah. We just looked at our area for our veggie garden going to get some good soil dropped in this year and hope to have a small but good garden response.
Marie enjoy your family time. Sounds like your right on the ball. Good for you. Penny a little slip isn't so bad sometimes its just what we need to jump start ourselves for the next round of being careful. Keep trying and hope your knee is coming right along. Judy hope all is well and hope to hear from you soon. Julie are yah around??? If so hello and hope all is well down under. Off to a picnic for my bil's birthday. So I better go finish up my project. I am off on tues for a two day conference so I am packing for that at the same time as tossing out stuff. If I haven't worn it in years its out the door or if it really doesn't fit''''' Take care enjoy the rest of your weekend its short !! |
