hi there...

just got back from shopping... stopped at gnc and picked up the whey protein powder this time.. and a new product they have ... a chewable omega 3 supplement looks like a starburst candy.. not bad!

also got flax oil to add to my smoothies...

iwmonn 07-26-2008 11:33 PM

hey Curly!

I was starting to think you started back to school already. Good to see you're still around  I sholuldn't have worried- you have always been the glue here ;)

Well, my deli girl decided that today would be her last day. She told me around 9am and was gone by 11.... Now I have another outbreak of "cold sores" on my upper lip. grrrrrrrr... I haven't had this in years, and now twice in a month!!! I have to re-work the schedule again plus get my desk cleaned up along with all my other work before I leave Monday. AAARRRGGGGGGGGG!

thanks ;) I feel better now hehehe.

The Sacramento trip was good.. Had a welcome dinner Tuesday night. It was a buffet, but we got there pretty late and lot's of the food was gone already (yay)....so I was very reasonable in my choices. Well, except for the coconut and pineapple sorbets lol. I couldn't decide so I got one of each- tho I did only have a few bites then shared it around the table. My boss rented us a big SUV limo and we went to a really dive-y bar to listen to some blues. Fun, but I tell ya I'm toooo old for that! I was so tired, then my roomie decided to talk til like 2:30am! Talk about tired hahaha. Breakfast was a bagel and TWO double mochas! Not the best choice I know but I had to wake up. At the show the first area was bakery so lots of breads and desserts.... I tasted a little but stayed under control. It made me full tho, so I mostly took samples for trying later.

To sum up, I think I did OK :) NOW--- Off to Seattle on Tuesday. Road food... that's a tough one for me, but I'm aware of my issues and I will practice for 'the rest of my life" I'm excited to see my family! Lee's excited to go to the hydroplane races lol. Neither one of us is too thrilled to go to a Mariner's game heheheehe...

Val & Mary?!?!?!?!?!?! How are youuuuuuuuu?

:grouphug: Dee~

curlylocks 07-27-2008 06:51 AM

ooooooo you need the stuff I give the outdoor kitties- my mind just went blank- haha L-Lysine, will make the cold sores go away, I give it to the kitties outside cuz they have outbreaks of sniffles and sneezing.. which i found out is actually a form of herpes... vet says most all cats are born with the herpes virus.. just doesnt activate in all cats...

when people say their cat has a "kitty cold" its usually an outbreak of the herpes virus.. sooo as you know cold sores are also from the herpes virus...
 these days when you say herpes virus people automatically think you mean the sexually transmitted virus... but there are many forms/ types..

I became interested in this becuz I have had the chicken pox @ 7 times and the shingles @ 3- I just don't build immunity to the chicken pox when I have them like other people do.. even worse they can pop out on me if I get super stressed!

Anyways enuff of that.... sounds like you had a fun trip.. I was dreaming of a bagel the other day

I went last tuesday and had a cyst removed from my lower eyelid... no biggie but was suprized that my BP was a bit high... told the nurse.. I have hospital phobia.. and the BP is normally not high..

in limbo with my house purchase- the list price was 129,900 i offered 97,000 and the seller (bank repo) countered at 129,900 so generous..

so my realtor sent back "no thanks" i see this week they have dropped the price to 119,000? my friend says offer them 100k but I think I will hold off- I may lose it but I refuse to get in over my head in debt that I can't handle.

I have a business trip in August to D.C., just for 2 days, but the conference is being held in a luxury hotel.. country mouse goes to the city....

ok gotta scoot.. gotta find a scat mat for my back door- my 10 yo male neutered cat has found a new hobby -spraying at the back door :yikes:

iwmonn 07-27-2008 11:00 PM

That's really interesting Curly... about the cats. I wonder if that's whats going on with my siamese. His nose is all broken out again. Same thing happened at the same time last year so I'm thinking along the lines of an allergy, but it could be. It also shows up on his ears too... little bumps that I could almost say look like little blisters.... he scratches at his nose til it's all raw :(... I put anitbacterial ointment on it but he doesn't much like that at all lol. I'm shopping for some L-Lysine for myself so I'll try giving that to him too. Can't hurt, can it???? (I cannot believe I don't have L-Lysene at the store!!!!!!!)

My big fat cat actually ruined a wall in the house spraying.... I finally broke down and got him a litter box and he's been ok since

Good luck on the house offer. You are so very smart to stay within your budget tho.... So many people in Sonoma and Mendocino Counties who got easy loans, are now in forclosure.... I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I'm packing for my trip to Seattle. Lee's sick. I told him if we don't leave til Wed. I'd be ok with it. I'd actually like a day to decompose from 2 weeks without a day off hahaha. I have no idea what kind of internet connect I can get at my dad's house where I'm staying. Since he went into the assisted/independent living place my sis had the phone and cable disconnected. I hope his neighbors have some unsecured wireless networks ;).

OH, my scale this morning was 210!!!!! but I'm not changing anything til vacation is over hehehe.

Have a great weeek if I'm not able to get here!!!!

:grouphug: Dee~

curlylocks 07-30-2008 07:41 PM

210 thats AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been reading up on flax oil for weight loss... sounds like a good idea!

iwmonn 08-05-2008 01:54 AM

It's been a long week! We're on the way home at a motel in Grants Pass Oregon. I can't wait. 8 hours driving left!!! yayyyyyyyyyyy...

ttys!

Dee~

iwmonn 08-06-2008 04:58 PM

I'm Home!!! got here about 5 last night. I love my family and I love Seattle but it is so nice to be here lol. We had a great time. Dad's house is about empty and that was a huge shock. He fell down 3 times while we were there and the final time they stuck him in the hospital again. Hopefully they can find out what's going on with his balance.

We went to a Mariners game, and the Hydroplane races. Saw the Blue Angels and several other cool planes at the races. And of course visited lots of family.

Boy, I'll tell you it didn't take long for me to appreciate the (lack of) traffic problems around here lol. I'd never move back to the city!!!

So I got on the ol scale today and it was 212.... not bad for a week vacation I guess. I'm happy ;)

How has your week gone?

curlylocks 08-07-2008 07:28 PM

welcome home!

yeah i am with you i am a country girl for sure... well not much to report here scale remains stuck,,, have a new pet project "soldiers angels" you adopt a service person - you promise to send cards or letters once a week and a care package 1-2 times per month... sounds pretty cool

they have 42 service people waiting to be adopted so if you think you might like to join in the address is soldiersangels .com

well somone put a contract on my lil dream house it went for 119,000 but i just don't think i can afford a 1,000 a month house pmt. sigh i am sure this was the only time anything will sell in that range in my neighborhood..

but they say everything happens for a reason ... soooooo...

ok better scoot....

petra65 08-10-2008 05:56 PM

Okay, another prodigal has returned. I skimmed through the posts. Sorry you didn't get the house Curly but I'm sure you'll find one that fits your budget. It's still a buyer's market in most areas. I know it is here.

I'll give you the brief version of what I've been up to. I tried going to the 24/7 gym with the yoga studio for a month. It didn't work very well and I was hungry all the time so I ditched that idea. Fortunately it didn't require a committment. I'll stick to yoga which I really like and will actually go to.

I got very frustrated about not losing and was really not paying much attention to what I was eating. Even ate some sugar! I've finally gotten desperate enough to try weightwatchers again. I'm doing the online version because I'm not sure I could consistently get to meetings with my work schedule. I'm also doing the core program which is basically their twist on Volumetrics if you've read that book. I peed like a racehorse yesterday so I guess at least the diuretic part works. I'll try to post more often and let you know how it is going. It also appears it will take a little while for me to completely get the hang of it.

Next Sat. I'm going to the beach for a week. I rented a house so I can take the doggies. I'm looking forward to that. I was on call this weekend but it wasn't too bad.

iwmonn 08-11-2008 01:32 PM

 Petra! Nice to see you again. I'm so sure you'll get back into the swing of things again. It seems to me once your mind is set, you are able to accomplish just about anything!
The beach with the dogs sounds like a wonderful vacation! I hope you enjoy yourself.

Curly~ sorry about the house deal. I know it's not much to say, and you've probably heard it already (too many times lol) but here goes. It probably just wasn't meant to be. Somewhere out there, sometime, the perfect for you place will come to you :). You were so smart not to get locked into something you weren't 100% sure about. Lot's of people around here are in big troubles because they didn't show your restraint.

I hope you are both having a great day. I know I am. Finally a day off for lounging (sort of) ;)

:grouphug: Dee~

petra65 08-11-2008 08:35 PM

Our nurse practitioner is on maternity leave so my life has gotten a bit busier. I now only go to the nursing home for half a day and I go on Mondays, then I have to come back to the hospital and see all my hospital patients in the afternoon. Makes for a long day.

I've lost 5 lbs since starting my little WW experiment. I know it's all water but I'll take it. It's still nice to see my scale move. I haven't eaten fat free cheese in a long time. Have either of you had any recently? If so, can you recommend a brand that doesn't taste like rubber. I'm hoping they have improved it in the past few years. I really don't like skim milk either. I can get to 1% but I don't know about skim. Adjusting to this low fat eating after years of low carbing is tough. I have a fair amount of low fat stuff in the house and I'm not going to throw that out. I'll try to switch to fat free as I use it up.

Tammy brought a dead mouse in last night. Completely grossed me out. I started screaming like a crazy woman. Neither of my other dogs were ever hunters.

petra65 08-12-2008 08:17 PM

I took Kobe in for his annual check up and took Tammy along too. She is up to 70 lbs!! She can probably still afford to gain another 5 or so. Unfortunately, Kobe is 101 lbs so we have some work to do. I'm going to try to do more walking with him. It will be good for both of us.

curlylocks 08-14-2008 07:36 PM

this will be hard to believe but the best fat free american cheese is "food lion" brand do you have that store?

now this i find hilarious... well I grind my teeth under stress and at night... the dentist said i need braces cuz my teeth are developing gaps from the grinding.. braces? at 47

yeah I was dissapointed.. cuz there is not a house in my neighborhood under 300K and probably won't be again.. but they say there is a reason for everything...

got my books today for my classes ... class starts 9/8

my new boss......... ehhhhhh dont ask.. lets just say I am looking to transfer!

petra65 08-17-2008 10:32 AM

No, we don't have Food Lion here but I'm familiar with the store from living in Delaware and Virginia earlier in my life.

I ate about 30 points over my allowed last week but I still lost those 5 lbs that I'm sure were water. I'm going to try to reduce that every week until I get down to what I"m supposed to be.

I'm on vacation this week in gulf shores. I rented a house so I could bring the dogs but so far this has been a disaster. Tammy normally only goes to the bathroom in her own yard at home and she was giving me a stroke yesterday. She didn't pee for about 15 hours. I also tried leaving them in the house this morning while I ran to the grocery store to pick up a few things and they trashed the house-knocked over the kitchen trash and had it everywhere and Tammy pooped in the house. I'm debating my options. I may end either having to find somewhere to board them down here or just pack up and go home. This is my first time travelling with Tammy and I think it will be my last. Right now they are both laying down very content.

iwmonn 08-18-2008 02:09 PM

LOL Curly. I had braces in my 30's. I wanted them so bad growing up, (all the cool rich kids had them ;) ) but my teeth were just about perfect. Then I lost some of my molars and those I had left drifted. When I was going to get bridges etc to fix them they decided they needed to be straightened up first..... Anyway, I still thought it was cool to have them lmao!!!! (I changed the band colors regularly to coincide with holidays, and my favorite sports teams. )

Petra, I'm sorry to hear things aren't going as smooth as you'd liked on your vacation. Hopefully by now it's gotten better. You know, even when I was doing WW I didn't do a lot of the FF foods. So many of them are loaded with HFCS to compensate for the loss of flavor and texture. Hmmmmm... could that be why it didn't work well for me? hehehe. Congrats on the 5lbs!!! Water or not, it's still motivating!

THings are going well here. I finally get 2 days in a row off!!!! I haven't really relaxed since about a week before we went to Seattle. I'm sure doing it today :)

:grouphug: Have good days Ladies!!!!
Dee~
