I'm still happy with the diet. It's been over 2 months. I'm not losing very fast but it is very comfortable so I'm trying not to sweat it.

The guy thing seems to be going well, surprisingly perhaps. He seems to really like me and he is a really nice guy. He's one of those guys who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Hard not to like that.

Tammy is doing great. She's gained all her weight. She and Kobe are in the German Shepherd Rescue's Calendar for 2009. I'll be giving a bunch of those as Christmas presents this year.

Happy Thanksgiving Ladies! I thought I would be going to some friends of mine a couple towns over but they didn't invite me this year. I didn't have any holidays with them last year and I think they may have just forgotten me-oh well. The good side of that is I won't be tempted to overindulge.

 Petra & Curly.... and all the wayward PIC's ;)

We went to friends house in Windsor. It's a 90 mile drive each way.... but a very nice visit. This family is amazing. John works construction and Tammy works as a waitress, is going to school to be a nurse AND she is almost finished with and EMT Boot Camp course. On top of all that, they have 2 teenagers, 1 tween, and are in the process of adopting 2 nephews 4&2. (Babies of drug abuse).... They struggle to make ends meet with all those mouths to feed, and a $2400. mortgage. There is so much love in that house. I feel very thankful we have been invited to be part of it. I feel very lucky for the simple life I have too.

I didn't stray too far yesterday in my plan. However Tuesday I baked cookies to take with us as a thankyou, and ate way toooo many of them- warm from the oven ;) Oh well, back on track. I'm still hovering in the range of the same 2-3 lbs up/down... I'll break this soon!!!!

I hope you had a peaceful Thanksgiving.
:grouphug: Dee~

I finally found a new dr since mine retired in july.. not looking forward to that visit.. I am almost panic striken afraid of drs... I don't know if it goes back to when I was @ 5 yo and ate a bottle of baby aspirin and when I got to the hospital they had to tie me to the gurney... arms and legs cuz I kept escaping!!

Anyways.. my aunt recommended her dr, my cousin also goes to her, my cousin is not really overweight but the dr told her she needed to go on a diet so she will really love me  I go on the 9th

just finnished up more papers... finals next weekend I am so looking forward to freedom!

looking at a new/used car 2008 ford escape!! gotta see what kinda deal they offer...

petra65 12-01-2008 06:04 PM

Good luck with the Dr. visit and the finals. It should be a good time to buy a car if you need to do that since I think most dealships have more inventory than they know what to do with.

I think I'm going to put up my Christmas tree this year for the first time since I've lived here. I got it out of the shed today. I go back on call this week so that might be a good project this weekend since I can't go anywhere.

curlylocks 12-02-2008 07:17 AM

its a used 2008 ford escape w/ 17,000 miles on it - good deal as it is the mid level model that sells @ 27k and I am lookin to get it for 16... gonna go have a test drive at lunch today

I am off thursday and friday to study... have my exams friday night and saturday night...

curlylocks 12-10-2008 11:23 PM

hi!

finals are over.... just checked and I got an A on my history paper!i really enjoyed that class 1865 and up

went to dr wasnt too bad had the white coat BP issue, dr laughed at my EKG, and said yes I see you have some anxiety with dr visits.

after she took my history rechecked bp and it was back to normal... wish I could say the same for my weight...

I must have ADD, i swear if i am not totally focused on something my progress just goes to ****..

she said she would not renew the metformin right now for the insulin resistance,, wants to see if i lose some weight on 1500 calories... I don't think soooo. she says 20min of exercise per day..

so whats up with ya'll?

petra65 12-12-2008 06:53 PM

I've been having intermittent computer problems which has not been good for my diet since I count on the computer for my food journal and support, etc. Will need to try to get that fixed. Have been a bit more in the Christmas spirit this year. Put the Christmas tree up. Have it partly decorated. Plan to get it finished up this weekend. Also need to finish getting presents for family at home so I can get them packaged and mailed in time. Still dating the guy from the internet. About 2 months now. Haven't seen him a lot-maybe 4 or 5 times but seems to be going pretty well. I think he will be around for a while.

Ok went to the store and stocked up on healthy stuff, now I am broke, had a message on my machine to call the dr back........... I figured that cant be good news!

said my cholesterol was 200, need to get it down.. but low fat and low carb seem to work against each other... most of the time low fat=high sugar

so got egg beaters and oatmeal for breakfast

turkey wheatbread and tuna for lunches, apples and some little cups of mandarin (no sugar) oranges

salad stuff, and plan to make my own dressing with EVOO & vinegar

wooo menu choices.. so unlike me!

Hello.........anybody there?

Well day 4 of being OP, not sure what program I am on but .. I am on it

Not going super low carb, but trying to have only good carbs while choosing low fat choices...

I guess it could be called a high fiber , good carb healthy eating plan.

Trying to re-learn what hungry means, and taking the time to make good choices and not just grab something..

heres my sample

breakfast-
1 serving old fashioned oatmeal
1/2 c skim milk
a few walnut halves
snack cup of sugar free peaches

morning snack- 7 baby carrots

lunch- 2 slices high fiber low carb bread, turkey, mustard and lettuce
apple

dinner- salad, with grilled chicken breast and dressing made from evoo
and vinegar

petra65 12-23-2008 09:23 AM

Curly-your sounding South Beach if it helps to have a plan to hang your hat on. If you are comfortable doing your own thing-go for it. Hope it is still going well for you.

I've been Sonoma dieting over 100 days now! I guess that makes this something I've made a committment to. I can't say it has been 100% on plan every single day but when I slide a little I don't feel like it is some horrible disaster like I did on low carb. I can just get back on track the next day and keep going. Haven't been as focused here with the holidays and in some ways am looking forward to them being over soon. They are very distracting in many ways.
