The Worldly Chicks are celebrating a "Joy"ous June
Let's all jump for Joy in June :trampo: :yay: Pun intended
Ok so here I am, supposed to be planning things and on "vacation" but yet I'm sitting here at 11:35 pm desperately trying to get a Crystal Report done for a job that I just walked away from. :dunno: :dizzy: Ok, ok so I shoulda had it done days ago. And I woulda but people kept coming up and saying goodbye and talking to me. Just peeked on 3FC and I see Carla is itching to leave Memphis. Geez and we didn't even get to Graceland yet :D So I am pressed for time, don't have a clue what places to go that start with J (not to mention we have another J month right after this). So I thought we would celebrate all the places the 3FC'ers will be going this month, all based around one of our own. So let's have a Joyous month - if you get my drift... and feel free to elaborate on your travels. Some things we're planning for the upcoming week include -
Sounds like a full enough week for me. I am looking forward to hearing about some of the adventures you ladies have planned down the line for the rest of the month. And Ceejay - of course we are looking forward to company. The hardest part about the trip is navigating the turn from I55 to 240. Sure do hope you can make it. Ok, I have to get to sleep now. Busy day ahead of me. |
Bumping this thread up and over the May one...

JUMPING JOYOUS JUNE BUG!!!! WE HAVE ARRIVED!!
CARLA WAS READY TO LEAVE ON A JET PLANE...LA LA LA GLAD I GOT TO THE AIRPORT IN TIME!! :cb: WE DEFINITELY WOULDN'T WANT TO MISS THIS JOYOUS OCCASION! HAPPY~ THE ITINERARY ABOUT THE AIRPORT CRACKED ME UP! WHILE I AM SLEEPING YOU ARE MAKING JOKES! HOPE YOU GOT YOUR WORK DONE AS WELL! CEEJAY~ GET THERE SAFELY!!! DON'T TAKE ANY DIRECTIONS FROM SHAD!! SHE BARELY KNOWS RIGHT FROM LEFT YET!!:dizzy: :scooter: I AM JUST TOO TIRED TODAY. TOO MANY SINUS MEDS AND THE RAINY WEATHER FINISHED ME OFF. SO I AM TAKING THE DAY OFF FROM LIFE IN GENERAL! I ALSO LEFT MESSAGES ON THE APPROPRIATE ANSWERING MACHINES LAST NIGHT GIVING THEM PLENTY OF TIME TO FIND A FILL-IN IF THEY NEED HELP TODAY. CAN'T AFFORD TO "CRASH AND BURN" BEFORE TUESDAY!! OR EVEN WORSE....JOYOUS THURSDAY! I WONDER HOW MANY TIMES WE CAN USE THE WORD JOYOUS DURING THE MONTH OF JOYOUS JUNE :lol3: :lol3: SEE...I MUST BE OVERTIRED....GETTING SILLY NOW. HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE! :moped: |
I am jumping for JOY too!! Maybe I will burn some calories!!!!!!
HUGS!!!!! |
Me too! Jumping! Jumping! ::trampo: :woohoo: :trampo::woohoo: :trampo:
Hmm, that one smilie's code is "trampo" - are they making an editorial comment? Love the new thread. I've been for a bike ride, had a good shower, it's a beautiful warm day here in the Big Smoke, and I'm now at my desk. This bank is obviously not as stuffy as the last one (since they let me get to this site) - and I've already been assigned to 3 new projects. :carrot: This is gonna be a fun contract. Back later to post. |
when we head to the airport tonight, could you say we are going on a "Joy Ride?"
Glad to see the chicks are all up and aerobic and stuff. Just what we needed to kick off a new month. It's zero hour. I had to abandon the Crystal Report in favor of more pressing agenda items today. Day one of 10 days of vacation   Feel better Mel. Keep the rain until next week. Then you can send it over here after we put Shad on a plane. Rest up so you can participate into the wee hours of the night on a gab fest. Just don't talk about me and I won't talk about you 'k? Good to hear the new job is kicking off nicely Madcat. Good going on getting a bike ride in. I swear I am committing to conscious exercise after vacation. We have lots of walking planned during vacation so I'll consider that a warm up. Think there's any correlation between "trampo" and walking up and down the streets? Nice to see Holly up jumping early too. Just be careful you don't get the kids whipped into a frenzy too. Jumpin is fun! Short post, gotta go clean the guest room. Happy Friday chicks. |
Joyful June! :) It's also the month the Clover blooms!
I'm and really looking forward to this month. Working my *** off (not!) trying to get my kitchen back in order so Donna can come next week and clean the rest of the house. I guess I'll go back to yesterday's thread and check out Shad's itinerary. May as well close it while I'm there. |
This is a joyous morning. I'm looking forward to my visit in Memphis tomorrow. I haven't been to the Memphis zoo in a long time. It's been a long time since I've driven in Memphis. I can drive in Louisville, Ky (even got lost in Louisville)and Springfield, Mo so I should be able to drive in Memphis also. Hopefully the traffic will not be toooooooo bad.
Counting calories burned is what I'm doing this month. I've weighed in at 187.4 and will not weigh again until I've burned 3500 calories. My food plan will be the one I used when going to the Metablic Research Center and since I have osteoporsis I'll be doing weight bearing exercise, which means going to the gym. More later. |
Okay, then, I must say I enjoyed the news we wouldn't actually have to move anywhere too far.
Gave myself a good talking-to last night. I already knew I'd been using my bereaved neighbour as an excuse to be bad (mustn't let poor x drink/eat alone!). Then there was the chocolate fest after the visit to the wicked SM, and more chocs on Wed after the full impact of the truly terrible, incredibly short, unfeminine new haircut hit home... Do we sense a theme here? So instead of grasping at straw excuses to do all the wrong things, I vowed to go back on the old Fat Flush until the Joyous day, June 15. The true shock is that this morning I actually followed through. I am quite relieved that I managed to keep off the pounds I lost recently, and love to say goodbye to another 5 or 10 before swimsuit season! Mel, get lots of rest! Although I think Shad may be up for a quietish visit with you, lots of yakking and relaxing. Except, of course, when she's out terrorizing the Big Apple into the wee hours... Theme song: "First, we take Manhattan. Then we take Berlin!" Or, in this case, Toronto. Good luck on the upcoming election. Madcat, you sound positively euphoric about the new job. It sounds like you've landed into a much better environment this time. Do you bike to work? Or get up really, really early and get out before trotting off to the salt mines? Happy, you found the perfect solution for this month's destination. My apologies if I seemed to be nagging - I know you're enormously busy, what with winding up the job and scrubbing behind every toilet Shad may potentially come in contact with... Those Kiwis are just so finicky! I would normally just give my place a lick and a promise and keep the lights dim while Shaddy's here, but it has to meet some basic level of non-grossness for the catsitter who'll be here for 2 weeks right after Joy and I head off. So I broke down and washed a couple of windows yesterday, many more to go. Holly, what do you and Madcat have planned for the Thunder from Downunder? (Sorry, I'm feeling a little rhymey today.) Will you spend the whole day playing and touring and overindulging together, or will it just be an evening get-together? What a pisser about the sewer bill! That's an outrageous amount. :crossed: that your DH gets the new job and it pays enough to ease the sting a little. I wish you had been up here to cut my hair - I'd rather have given the $$$ to you - and you would have left me with more than sad stubble... Ceejay, I have a feeling you'll have to change your name to Mud if you don't show up as planned chez Happy... If you download directions from Mapquest, that may help - they're usually extremely detailed. I used them to get around San Francisco a couple of years ago, and plan to download lots of info for the Pacific Coast drive with Shad. Of course, when you're driving alone, there's always the conundrum of how to read the directions and drive at the same time - without killing anybody. So be careful out there! Off to do laundry, maybe wash another window, maybe even dust a wall. I love the dark chocolate I picked for the bedroom walls. But so does the dust, and it really shows. |
You chicks are soooo witty :bravo:
|
SENDING GOOD VIBES TO CEEJAY AND HER QUEST FOR A JOYOUS VISIT TO THE ZOO!! ARE YOU GOING TO SEE THE AUSTRALIAN KOALAS??????
HAPPY~ HAVE A GREAT 10 DAYS!!!! DON'T GO TOO NUTS OR WE WILL BE SHOCKING THE 3FC COMMUNITY WITH OUR WEIGHT GAINS!! :faint: CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HOW YOU WILL LIKE THE NEW JOB ALSO. GOOD LUCK! CARLA~ I USE ANY EXCUSE I CAN FIND TO EAT/DRINK BAD! :lol3: WHAT DAY IS IT? FRIDAY? OH GOODY.....LET ME GO GET AN ECLAIR TO CELEBRATE!!!!!! MADCAT~ HOPE YOU ARE STILL THIS HAPPY WITH THE NEW JOB 2 WEEKS FROM NOW!! :lol3: :lol3: ALL KIDDING ASIDE...GOOD LUCK! MOST OF THE DAY WAS RESTFUL. WENT FOR A RIDE AND ALSO FOOD SHOPPING. JUST FELT LIKE GETTING OUT AT THE LAST MINUTE WHEN WILLY SHOWED UP. NOW MY RIGHT EYE IS ACTING UP :faint: IT SEEMS THAT NOT ALL MY BODY PARTS WANT TO FUNCTION PROPERLY ALL AT THE SAME TIME!  SEE YOU ALL TOMORROW. |
humming Ode to Joy........................
|
Good one, Holly!
Madcat, I forgot to give you the bad news that cats really, really enjoy scratching up microfibre suede upholstery. :( Now, you may be lucky - mine don't manhandle my bucket chair, but then it doesn't have upholstered legs or sides. But they've made an awful mess of my 3-year old overpriced couch. On the plus side, the fabric is super-easy to clean with just a damp cloth, and cat hair comes off the same way. :D Shad must be in the air by now, or at least at the airport. And Happy is frantically putting the final touches to the guest room and guest bathroom and re-arranging the sofa cushions and polishing up the kitchen faucet and... :hyper: Stop!! Time to put away the cleanser, chill the wine (maybe even sip a quiet glass if the DH will be doing the airport driving), and have a little nap. Ommmmm... :yoga: G'night all. |
Carla--Happy has emailed specific directions to her house. I should do okay. It's just been eons ago since I've driven in Memphis. Used to know my way to the air port with no problem at all.
Mel--Not going to the Zoo this time. Maybe at a later date. I'd forgotten about the Panda's and they are one of my favorite animals. Stay inside as much as possible. I've had to take my allergy meds yesterday including the histamine last night. There was a lot of drainage in my throat. I've started June in the exercise mode. I went to the gym and walked on the treadmill for 25 minutes. My goal is to walk a mile in 20 minutes. It was done in 22 minutes today at a speed of 3.0 mph. That's almost running for me. I burned 130 calories. Tomorrow will be a simple bike ride in the morning. Believe it or not I was beginning to break a sweat. My body temperature stays around 96.7 so this is telling me I need to do this a little longer. May go for thirty minutes on Monday. |
CEEJAY~ GREAT EXERCISE AND WHAT A NICE WAY TO BEGIN THE NEW MONTH OF JUNE!! JUMPING FOR JOY FOR YOU!!! I AM OVERJOYED THAT HAPPY GAVE YOU GOOD INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO GET TO HER HOUSE! HAVE A JOYOUS OCCASION!
GOOD LUCK WITH THE 30 MINUTES PLANNED FOR MONDAY :cheer: CARLA~ ON THE OTHER HAND, I WAS NOT OVERJOYED TO HEAR ABOUT THE CATS ALL LOVING THE MICROFIBER! BET MADCAT WASN'T EITHER!! :yikes: PUT DOWN THE WINEGLASS AND NO ONE WILL GET HURT!! HOT, HAZY, HUMID AND THUNDERSTORMS :rain: GOING TO HIT 90 TODAY. NORMAL TEMPS WOULD HAVE BEEN ONLY IN THE 70'S. WHAT'S UP WITH GLOBAL WARMING?????:tantrum: OR LA NINA OR EL NINO....TAKE YOUR PICK. ALL I KNOW IS THAT I WILL NOT BE GOING OUT THIS WEEKEND. JUST CALL ME A/C MELLIE! :brr: I HAVE SOME SMALL JOBS AND THE BILLS TO KEEP ME BUSY. HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND! HAPPY SATURDAY :moped: |
Holding tightly to joy in the moment today.
No. No. Not happy about the microfibre being a cat magnet. Sigh. Why do I even have cats? They knock all the small objects off the counters, throw towels on the floor, shed hair over all my black clothing, sing loudly for no reason in the middle of the night, and destroy anything that isn’t nailed down (and a few things that are). And then, just when I am ready to sauté them with a nice port reduction, they crawl into my lap and look at me with the big green eyes and purr, and I’m lost again. Alien mind control, that’s what I think. Lovely looking day this morning. Think it’s going to be another warm one. I’m feeling slightly fragile today due to a patio, a lovely but too large meal, and an ill-advised bottle of white wine last night. It’s been a tough couple of weeks. See, Carla, it happens to us all, but you are right we can’t use these things as excuses. After all, the world is full of reasons not behave. Look at you following though. I vow to follow your example today. Happy~ Yay vacation is here! Put aside the crystal reports and enjoy yourself. I guess by now our Lovely Lady of the Southern Hemisphere has arrived? You were probably up half the night and have only now gotten to bed. Have a great time. I went back and read your Shad vacation itinerary and it really made me laugh. Enjoy some blues music for me, will you?? Watching laundry fluff could be fun in the right company. Ruth~ Hi! Mel~ Stay in and stay cool, honey. I’m not sure what is happening with the weather. I think we’ve also had unnaturally warm May… but wait, it will probably become unseasonable cold just about the time Shad shows up. *crosses fingers* Ceejay~ Keep up the good work. You’ll be reaching your goals in no time. Maybe we need to declare June official exercise month? Carla~ lately I’ve been going out for a bike ride at the same time I usually leave for the gym. Somehow exercising outside in the lovely morning air is so much more satisfying than the same time in a stuffy building. We have so little good weather it seems criminal to waste any of it. I do sometimes bike to work too and change out of my bike gear into work clothes… but I don’t like starting the day all sweaty, so some mornings I bike to the gym, work out and then go to work after I’ve cleaned up. Depends. Any small movement I can fit into my day seems to help, I think. And you have sad stubble? Thank gawd that hair grows out. Did they at least make it an interesting colour? Why is it they can put a man on the moon but they can’t help us find someone who can do a consistently good haircut? Holly~ Cute! Funny, I just went on a search for the lyrics and the ones I found weren’t the ones I remember singing in choir as a kid. I like this part in what I found: Joy, daughter of Elysium Thy magic reunites those Whom stern custom has parted; All men will become brothers Under thy gentle wing. Our Joy’s magic seems to be doing some re-uniting or at least introducing. Not to be a downer, and I’m trying not to dwell on bad news but it is hard. My friend is not doing very well and they have essentially sent her home where they are going to try to buy her as much time as they can. She is a fighter. I can’t wrap my head around it yet. Can I ask something of the chicks here? If you think something might be wrong go to the doctor, ok? It doesn’t hurt to get tested and anything is better than this. My sis’s biopsy report is due tomorrow. Hoping that at least will have a better outcome. Ok, having sucked all the joy out of the room I’ll go face today. Tomorrow I’ll be out riding a 50k charity bike ride (if the rain holds off). Some days physical exercise is the ONLY thing that makes any sense. |
MADCAT I AM SENDING MANY HUGS, PRAYERS AND GOOD THOUGHTS YOUR WAY. MY BEST ADVICE TO YOU IS NOT TO WRAP YOUR HEAD AROUND IT RIGHT NOW. ENJOY THE TIME SPENT WITH YOUR FRIEND AND LET THE HEAD JUST "BE". THERE WILL BE PLENTY OF TIME LATER ON FOR THOUGHT. PLEASE STOP APOLOGIZING FOR SHARING YOUR LIFE WITH US. GOD KNOWS I HAVE HAD MANY DOWN TIMES MYSELF. NONE OF US COULD SUCK THE JOY RIGHT OUT OF THE ROOM BY SHARING THE MORE FRAGILE SIDES TO OUR LIVES. THAT'S LIFE AND THAT'S WHAT FRIENDS ARE FOR. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF AS WELL.
|
Madcat, so sorry to hear the sad news about your friend.  :grouphug: :grouphug::hug::hug:
Never hesitate to share the bad as well as the good. That's what friends are for. Biking 50 k while feeling fragile? What a woman!! Oh - just rechecked and that's tomorrow. So rest up a bit, rehydrate, and get those electrolytes back in balance. And enjoy! Today is day 2 of the new regime, slept better than I have in a couple of weeks. Hmmm, now what was different? Could it be all the cranberry juice, or is it this short visit to the land of the abstemious? Tomorrow is hiking day, going with a very fit friend :fr: The woman will wear me out and drive me to exhaustion, a little dynamo. Fortunately she also likes to talk, so may not notice too much that instead of chatting I'm gasping for air. If I never post again you'll know I'm in jail for indulging a homicidal fantasy or else the blackfly and skeeters got me. :lol3: Mel, we're having the weird weather here too. Hot, humid, lots of thunderstorms. At least last night's storm will have rinsed away some of the pesticide my idiot condo had sprayed on our back yard. Yes, green grass looks nice. But why pollute the environment? Why make it unsafe for me to take my cat out on his leash? What about the cute little bunny that was out there the other night? All to kill off some poor dandelion that wasn't hurting anybody. The worst part is that our super and his family live right beside the lawn, the kids play on it, his wife has MS, it's gotta be doing them no good at all, and yet apparently he's the one who wants the lawn sprayed. Go figure. End of rant. No sign of life from Happy and Shad yet today. Either Madcat isn't the only fragile one ;) or they're still at the airport trying to explain Shad to Homeland Security. (No, officer, she didn't say she had a bomb, she said the meal on the flight cost a bomb. Well, no, I've never actually met her before, but... Why do I keep calling her Shad when her name is actually Joy? And why does she keep calling me Happy? Code names? Well, no,you see we belong to this organization - no, not a cult -with a website for worldly chicks, and... No!!! Not a porn site, you idiot, how dare you! Put away those handcuffs!! Somebody help!) As you can see, I have a rich fantasy life... Ceejay, good for you on that treadmill! I'm always amazed by those who find the incentive to actually get to the gym, especially once it's warm out. You'll get to your 20 min goal in no time if you keep it up. Shad can take you out for a brisk forced march while Happy slaves in the kitchen - assuming they're not in the airport slammer. Ruth, congrats on the kitchen reno being finished. I need to get mine done, but always manage to put off even finding a designer and contractor. I have a million ideas, and just as many excuses. But no million dollars to make it all go smoothly... Ideally I'd get one of those house flipping guys from tv in here and have him do a pretty but half-assed job in the space of 3 days. Enough chit-chat. I really must start my day. Hello to Rose and Holly and anyone else I've missed. |
Memphis will not be happening today. Happy and Shad my apologies I just don't feel up to the drive. The allergies have gotten worse, watery eyes, sinus drainage in the back of my throat and a slight temperature.
|
Howdy chicks,
The Shadster has landed. Walked right past her in the airport, focusing on trying to hear her voicemail message on my cell phone. Good thing DH was on the ball  We sat up late and talked about SAP. It's a hazard when you're both in the same business. Sorry that you couldn't make it Ceejay. Perhaps another time. Ok? Hope you feel better. Things are going well. I need a sit around day to recover from marathon cleaning that went well into the night and ended at 10:46pm right before we left for the airport. Nice to know I won't have to do it again for another year :D I'm glad you mentioned about the wine. There are 2 bottles of blush chilling in the refrigerator and a bottle or two of red in the liquour cabinet. Might just break them out tonight - a perfect way to cap off vacation, don't you think? And we have some nice nibblies too - tho right now we are quite full from a lunch of tasty roasted chicken sandwiches. We were really hungry so we took comfort and joy in our lunch. Oops, just realized I forgot to ring up Mum yesterday. Better do that before she gets :rollpin: on me. Love to the chicks. Oh and those Jaffas are wonderful :cloud9: |
Evening all,
This is me masquerading as Happy. So if I say something wrong she gets kicked off the site and not me  Happy's DH and I sorted each other out while she was whizzing around worrying that I hadn't caught the flight or something and there we were just chatting when she came whizzing back saying she couldn't see me anywhere. Hey am I that skinny that I am invisible??? I think not! :lol3: Nice to see that you have all gotten on happily sorting out a home for the month of June. I wonder what the collective creative genii will come up with for July. You really are a crazy bunch - but as Benny Hill would have said - I may be mad but I am completely lovable - fits you lot to a T. Happy is making the salad, DH is firing up the grill - poor man is worn out, he needs to go to bed early tonight. These late night forays are for the young and fit. Ceejay - you should have just come on over and we could commiserate our various sinus ailments together. I landed with a huge headache and a bloody nose last night. The headache wasn't completely gone this morning, but I'm fine now. Remind me never to send my sinus' to Arizona. A bit of humidity is a great healer. Mel are you ready yet? I have my dancing shoes, we can do the tango around the Statue of Liberty together. Whaddya mean - no way? Tomorrow we are off to the zoo. I hope the three of us manage to make it home and none of us get picked up as an escaped animal!!! That bottle of wine Happy was threatening me with is calling I think. Best go see what it wants, however I am no longer capable of drinking 4 of them. One will do. See you tomorrow. |
This is Happy being Happy. Why you ask? Well we've uncorked the wine.
On a serious note - Madcat I am very sorry to hear about your friend. Love and prayers to her  |
Yippee for Shad and Happy!! it is really quite exciting.
(((Mrs Mad))))) I am printing the church newsletter and baking Granola Bars. Feeling quite content with my life. It's been a long while. Less chaotic and things have settled into a routine of sorts. Kids and i had a great day. Soccer, running thri the sprinkler, I went for groceries and gave my Grandma a perm, back home for supper and more frolicking, hubby is at a friends. Finished reading Charlotte's web to the kids tonight. We read a chapter a night. Well, best go check on the bars...nighty night. |
 HAPPY AND SHAD WILL BE OVERSLEEPING IF THIS CELEBRATING CONTINUES! THE DH WILL BE PRYING THEM OFF THE FLOOR OR OUT OF THEIR BEDS TO DO THE TOURIST THING! HAVE FUN!
CARLA~ THE WEED KILLER IS UNREAL. HAVE WE ALL LEARNED NOTHING FROM DISEASES? I CAN SYMPATHIZE WITH THE SUPER'S FAMILY. I CANNOT BE GOOD FOR HER OR THE KIDS OR THE POOR BUNNY!!!!! WHEN I BUY SPRING SALAD THE DANDIES ARE IN THERE :lol3: GREAT DIURETIC! LOL GOOD LUCK ON THE ABSTINENCE TRAIL!!! CEEJAY~ SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT FEELIN BADLY. HOPE YOU GET WELL SOON. THE ENTIRE WORLD IS SUFFERING FROM SINUS ISSUES OF ONE SORT OR ANOTHER. FEEL BETTER  HOLLY~GET READY....SHAD WILL BE MOVING IN YOUR DIRECTION SOON. LOL I AM RESTING UP A BIT FOR THE NEXT TWO BUSY DAYS. NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO THEM AT ALL. PLEASE DON'T THINK I GOT LOST OUT THERE IN THE CEMENT JUNGLE IF I DISAPPEAR FOR A DAY OR TWO. THERE JUST MIGHT NOT BE ENOUGH TIME TO POST. MORE RAIN AND CLOUDS :rain: SO I WILL DO THE INDOOR THING!! LOL TO BE HONEST, THE AIR QUALITY IS NOT GREAT FOR ME RIGHT NOW. I CAN FEEL THE STRESS OF IT. NOT MUCH BUT IT'S THERE. OK I GOTTA GET CLOTHES READY ETC SO I CAN STAY FOCUSED ON MODERATION THIS WEEK. HAVE A GREAT DAY AND HAPPY SUNDAY!!! :moped: |
good morning chicks,
A hot, sunny day ahead. Maybe a trip to the zoo. DH is trying to avoid a migraine. Must have more coffee before we can be coherant. Back later... :coffee: |
Hot and sunny here too! Just back from Church and have to share this:
It was Hershey's day to attend Church. She was sleeping soundly under the pew when I went up to the altar for Communion. When I came back, she was gone. There she was at the back finishing off the banana cake with cream cheese icing that Frances had brought to have with our after Church coffee! Not a crumb was left or the oblong cake which Frances had cut up and put out on paper plates. It's a good thing our congregation has a sense of humour! I'm off to finish laundry and maybe work in some gardening although it's darned wet out there. My lane still looks like a construction zone. A lad is coming to pick up part of the old kitchen cabinets and counter which will help a bit but still.....I don't want Shad to think she's visiting a hurricane struck area. Have a serene Sunday! |
Morning all,
This is not Happy, c'est moi. We've made the decision on todays activites. We're off to the Zoo and butterfly house. Sounds like fun. Nice warm sunny day where we are. We've set the world to rights and belittled the politicians and just about everything else. Yakety yak blah blah blah blah. Madcat - so sorry about your friend. Hope the diagnosis on your sister is way better than that. Rant and rave, sometimes it is the only way to get around bad news. Throw things if necessary but be sure to open the door or window first. Ruth - my house is in constant renovation. I don't have a problem with cabinets in the lane or loos out in the barn or the kitchen sink in the home paddock - it's normal. Okay, maybe we are now all ready. One was, the other two weren't then another was but the other now wasn't. Life gets tricky don't it. |
Shad--Life isn't normal at my house either and there is just one of me. What does that say?????On second thought don't answer that.
Mel--We understand but some of us may forget where you are. Sometimes there isn't enough hours in the day. Ruth--To funny about Hershey. The journals are extremely quite today. Happy--You and Shad have fun today at the zoo. |
Morning darlin’s. Taking a day off the gym since I am still a bit sore from the 50K ride yesterday - mostly in my back, shoulders and my, ahem ,bits. We have a rainy day today. I can hear the sloshing sound of the cars on the wet road. It should be fun working in the big tower in the sky.
Ceejay~ Normal is highly overrated. Ruth~ Oh my. Hershey was obviously thinking of the waistlines of the whole congregation. What a funny girl! Shad~ Hope you had a fun time at the zoo. Hopefully they let you all leave at the end of the visit and didn’t think there was an item missing from their Oceana exhibit. Happy~ Hope your DH was feeling ok. Enjoy your rambling with the Shad-ster. Melody~ Good luck with the election madness. Hope the air improves for you. I wonder if there is anything we can do to compensate for the poor quality of air? I’m ok as long as I don’t breathe deeply. Holly~ Glad you are having a nice time in your life. Can I come run through your sprinkler? Did your children like Charlotte’s Web? What did they think of the ending? Ok I better go shower and get this day started. Thank you all for your good wishes for my sister and my friend. I am trying to approach this by my friend’s philosophy in that sometimes people have to live in the day since we have no idea what tomorrow will bring and no amount of worry and anxiety will change what will happen. As she says: “Every day is a gift. Every single day. Good days, bad days. And what you do with gifts is spend them.” Hi to all the chicks I missed! |
THE DAY BEGAN AN HOUR AGO. LOTS OF PHONES AND DOORBELLS ALL WEEKEND AND IT BEGINS AGAIN TODAY. I WILL RETURN WEDNESDAY.
SHAD~ WE ARE STILL WAITING TO SEE IF THE CAR WILL BE HERE. IF IT IS I WILL CALL HAPPY'S. I MUST CHECK ON YOUR ITINERARY TO SEE WHEN YOU LEAVE THERE....OR CAN ONE OF YOU POST THE TIME OF DEPARTURE FROM HAPPY'S HOME. DON'T WANT TO CALL AFTER YOU LEAVE THE HOUSE!! LOVE TO ALL. READ THE POSTS. LAUGHED AT HERSHEY'S CAKE. HAPPY ZOO TIME! CEEJAY GET WELL SOON. |
Madcat...we Posted Together. Lol Have A Great Time In The Tower In The Sky!! You Can Be Rapunzel!!!
|
Yesterday is history,
Tomorrow a mystery, Today is a gift, That's why we call it the present. Madcat - the friend is right. You have to make the most of the moment. It should become the worldly chick law. Mel - Car, what are we talking about? I was going to get a cab as we discussed. Somewhere, sometime, someone has to have experience of a NY cab - or in this case a NJ cab. Take it easy, I do not want to have you bedridden when I am there and rarin' to bust a few heads! We are generally home in the evening and early morning if you wish to ring. Or we should set a time and then ring. Well, we went to the zoo yesterday and all three of us came back safe and sound. No exhibits missing from Oceania (were there any there? Okay there was a section called Creatures of the night and it was just possible there was a Kiwi in there). Went to the butterfly house and it was nice but spoiled by a whole raft of people who can not read! I mean when something says - Do Not Trap or Catch or Kill the Butterflies - what part of that can they not understand. And can't kids of 8, 9, 10, 11 be kept under control?? Anyway, we saw the monkey and the elephant and the panda and all things great and small! It was fun. Memphis has a nice zoo. And we had a good meal in a Chinese restaurant on the way home. It was good!!! Today it is off to Graceland - maybe a zoo of a different kind?  I'm looking forward to this too. I liked most of his music, especially the slower stuff. I may even buy a cd or two. I'm not sure what else if anything else is on the menu for today. Then tomorrow it is off to the mountains and caves. I should be able to scare Happy silly leaping out from behind stalactites and yelling like a banshee. She's going to kill me for that one. After that I should tidy my room and repack etc. She's gonna start raging at me soon. :lol3: :lol3: just like my ol' mum did. See y'all (I'm learning the language but I'm a long way of Happy and the DH's standard) I can't understand most of what they are saying. |
Hey y'all - it's the real me. Wait till she tries to scare me round a stalacalite - I'll jump in a hole and pretend I'm down a crevice. Think I'll keep me flashlight in the pocket and take 2 valiums before entering the cave
Elvis has been visited. Lovely house. We could have a fine party there. If you'll come down I'll be glad to ring up Priscilla and Lisa and ask permission tho what is it they say - easier to ask forgiveness than permission. We found y'all a lovely Christmas ornament - the perfect gift. Unfortunately they only had one and we didn't want to make anyone feel slighted so in the end we decided against just getting one and drawing lots for the lucky winnner. Also had 2 sets of fireplace screens that look just like the grand gates to the mansion. Not sure who had fireplaces so we left those in the stores too. Must do more checking next time before shopping for souveniers. We are off to Beale street tonight for a nip or two and some music. Perhaps a bit of bbq too. Will introduce Shad to all sorts of music down here. I'm debating about slipping DH's harmonica into my purse and playing along. Maybe if I have one too many Hurricane drinks. Hope you ladies are having a good day. Must go now. Shad thinks I'm looking up places to see for our Caverns trip tomorrow. Must be wondering what all the typing is about :comp: :sssh: ;) |
Wow! You chickies are busy and worldly. Zoos, BBQ and Beale Street.
When Shad gets here, I'll show her the true rural Ontario. I'll see if I can find someone spreading manure and maybe one of those things that makes round hay bales. We can probably find a wake to go to and can spend several hours watching the boats locking through on the Rideau canal. We will also probably pick up beer bottles on the side of the road and take them back for a refund. Maybe we'll get enough $$ for an ice cream - shared, of course, with two dogs! Busy day today with my a.m. workout (yes, me!) and then spent the day still sorting out my kitchen stuff. I still need to buy some wire shelves for the laundry area but that will happen. Time to decide on supper for the doggage and me. It's been too wet to go out to get asparagus so I guess it'll be frozen veggies. Come on Summer! |
One of you Toronto chicks really must take Shad for a visit to that new Crystal building at the Royal Ontario Museum. I saw a little bit of it and thought it looked amazing. Would love to hear how it views up close ;)
Raining today, dark clouds threatening thunder and lightening. It was sunny and hotter than summer yesterday. Still spring until the end of the month and all the unpredictable weather. :hugs  |
I just can't wait for the rural Ontario. Muck Raking is a big part of my make up.
As for the hay bales, I used to drive one of them tractors what makes those. See I am even beginning to speak Tennesseeian now. We've already been in the wake of a wake so to speak. All traffic stopped to make way for the longest funeral procession in the whole world. Happy's DH was getting excited because he thought we were about to have a rear end accident. Haven't tried retrieving beer bottles for a while. That will be soooo gooooooooood I'm looking forward to that. Does anyone want/ need Elvis sideburns, a large plastic Elvis wig, a real stand-up lifesize picture of Elvis for the living room or maybe a stuffed copy of the 'leaning tower of Gracelands? Put the orders in now and I'll go back and get 'em for ya' all. They won't have recovered from not understanding me today. By tomorrow they will only be shell shocked. I should really go back this afternoon. Has any one seen my marbles. I seem to have dropped a couple. |
Shad and Happy--Sounds like you are having FUN, FUN, Fun. The cave is beautiful. Be sure to take a light jacket.
Ruth--Canadian country side would be a perfect trip. Mel. Holly, Carla, and Madcat hello  It's time to get things together to go home. Yeah. |
Grrrr. I wrote a long post and then hit the logout instead of submit post. What an idiot. Anyone would think I'd been into the joyjuice with Happy and Shad, instead of living a sugar and starch-free sober life. Hmmm - maybe I'm in junk food withdrawal induced brain fog.
So it'll be tomorrow before I post a real post. Meanwhile, to Shad and Happy, Mel, Ceejay, Madcat, Meadow, Holly, Ruth, Nae, and whoever else I've forgotten. |
It really is exciting to hear of Shad's journey and experiences. It is much the same around here as at Ruth's so no need to visit SW ontario.
I have decided to have a real vacation next Monday so am taking the 10:30 am bus to Toronto arriving downtown there around 12:55 pm. Will wander the streets until I find Shad and Madcat and then return home on the 8:30 pm bus. That will give me 7 bilssful hour with the girls and a few hours on the bus to read or nap. Yippee!!!!! No traffic or parking to manage. A funny then my journal... One evening, Jenny arrived home from work to find the children bathed, one load of laundry in the washer and another in the dryer. Dinner was on the stove, and the table was set. She was astonished! It turns out that Ralph had read an article that said wives who work full time and had to do their own housework were too tired to have sex. The night went well, and the next day she told her office friends all about it. “We had a great dinner. Ralph even cleaned up. He helped the kids do their homework, folded all the laundry, and put it away. I really enjoyed the evening.” But what about afterward?” asked her friends. Oh, that. . . . Ralph was too tired.” Just home from a 30 min walk!!!!! We had a good school council meeting last night. I am going to Home and school tonight. We have a Fun Fair on Thurs and then soccer right after. I am feeling really calm within myself and quite content. Better than i have felt since last October. The kids are good. Not perfect. we still have our issues. Hubby seems unhappy but is not very crusty. He is being indifferent towards me unless he wants sex. He wakes me every morning before he leaves ;just stands beside me at 6am and starts talking. Telling me about the weather or the hockey scores......I am dead asleep.Today when he was done I sleepily said , I love you. He grunted. I said you could tell me you love me too, ya know, you just might never see me again. He said it wouldn’t matter because he would be dead. I replied maybe it would be me that dies and you would be left all alone with our kids and home etc. He looked completely puzzled that I might not be here some day and wandered off. A Mom of 5 kids , age 47, was killed by a drunk teenager last week, a few side roads over. He takes so much for granted. It doesn’t feel like i was busy enough yesterday but i know i did a lot. Kids are launched to school. It is cold and windy and rainy today. I enjoy this weather. Much to do today… -walk -laundry -kitchen/DW -shower -enter Avon -call customers -deliver 1 order -go to bank -home and school meeting tonight Canadian Idol is on at 8pm Eastern time tonight!!!! YIPPEE!!! They do use instruments for the tryouts!!! |
Quick post before Happy tells me I have to get in the car - we are off to Arkansas and the caves and staying overnight somewhere. I've packed, eaten and was ready but then decided to sweep the patio for Happy and DH - it's not finished but I'd better be ready otherwise they will go without me! Can you imagine them getting there and looking in the back seat with a puzzled expression - we forgot to bring Shad! :dizzy:
We went to Beale Street last night and looked at the night life and the lights. Had dinner at BB Kings where they warmed up into live jazz and blues around 8.30 - 9.00 and then we went to some other diner which also had a band and it was good. Played some real oldies and goodies. Holly I'm staying somewhere in Toronto - Days Inn Express or something. If you look it up on my itinerary and ring them when you get in or I can meet you at the bus station - whatever floats your boat or rattles your cage. Just let me know. Madcat asked what I wanted to see/ do in TO. Don't really know. I had a quick intro in a tour last time and saw some lovely old homes and a castle in the hills. That looked good. Also a big covered market (St Laurence ????) and that looked interesting and I always enjoy Chinatown anywhere in the world. So whatever goes is what we do. Gotta go. Happy is making moving noises!!! |
