I kind of like Mel's July in Jumanji idea, sort of like February in Fantasyland, or November in Narnia. Of course then I'd have to rent the DVD and see the whole movie this time... As for what people think about you, Mel, you must know that like the song says, we love you just the way you are.

Some other suggestions: Juneau (as Ceejay proposed), Jakarta, Java, Jonquières (Québec), Jerusalem, Juniper Hollow (don't know where that is, but there's bound to be one somewhere...), Jacksonville.... the list is endless, which is good because there are 3 "J" months.

Happy, where did you ever find such a gem of a DH? Works all day in the heat and then bribes you with food! Does he have a single brother just like him?
Here's an idea: you could hire him out as a personal trainer to all the worldly chicks, he'd have us do his chores for him, and we'd be the ones losing ten lbs from all the activity!

Poor Shad freezing in the Rockies. At least here today there's a little sun, and we can actually see the tops (?) of the mountains. If and when it finally clears they may turn out to be even taller than they look right now.

Ruth, :bravo: on getting to the gym. The only thing harder than starting is keeping it up... but you can do it. (If you're like me, you'd be more likely to go if they served chocolate rewards for a job well done... )

This week's assignment is turning out to be pretty easy - mainly just sitting doing standby. Rather boring, but just as well as I seem to be getting a cold and I need to save my strength for post-Whistler activities. :lol3: Actually, Wed is a half day, and my colleague and I are considering trying one of those zipline adventures in the afternoon. Unless we chicken out, which is entirely likely. She has a bit of vertigo, and I also don't like heights and don't know if I can throw myself off a platform and trust a zipline. If we do go I'll be the one wearing a diaper. :fr:

happy2bme 06-18-2007 11:30 PM

Hi Carla

I think I kinda like Jumani in July.

What did the big almost nekid Greek guy say to Shad when she dashed out of the hotel laundry and dropped her coins all over the floor after catching sight of him?

.... :chin: Give up? :dunno:

"Hey lady, you dropped Jumani" - get it?  :lol3:

happy2bme 06-18-2007 11:54 PM

ah farg. It is JummanJI Durn.

Carla, DH has 2 single brothers. However, you'd be better off picking one of the McKenzie brothers. Told him many times that it's a good thing I saw him first because not that I would be attracted to his brothers but if I did date them - this would be me :rollpin: I am quite lucky I picked the best of the lot. As for chores, as he will tell you, plenty enough to go around to share - all are welcome to pitch in.

Can we actually spend time in Java? Wouldn't that be irritating to Mel? Good list you've come up with there. Thanks!

Ohh that zipline looks both terrorizing and fun at the same time. Saw that a few times on The Amazing Race show. Go do it for me and all your sisters here.

Shad, the trip though cold sounds absolutely amazing - sans naked laundry man of course. Ewwww. We are sweltering in the heat (Memphis is the 7th most humid city in the United States) - hard to believe that you are looking at snow. I bet the blues are just fantabulous. Can't wait to see the pictures.

Ruth, I LOVED the 3 months of flossing in 30 minutes trick. So true. Think they can tell? Hope all went well for you.

Poor Miss Mel - our gal Friday or Monday as it is. Do they appreciate you filling in for those who can't face the work week properly? Are you getting the same muggy air we are? The pool is warm enough to enjoy and I see we are in for a very hot and muggy week ahead. You and mom can sit in the water and cool off and keep each other company while DH and I slave away. I only ask that you leave the string bikinis at home :lol3:

Ceejay - that's so funny - well maybe not but when I saw your post about the firemen, first thought was that you are stealing them away from Mel. :D

I tried to post this morning and was able to read but when I went to go post my responses it said the site was down for maintenance - back in 2 or 3 minutes. It was more than that and I had to get going. Seems like the harder I try to get to work early, the later I am. And considering that I'm supposed to get in an hour earlier tomorrow and I still have to clean up a few things in the kitchen, I'd better get cracking here.

Oh good, alarm just went off on the washer - mom's blanket is ready to go into the dryer. I probably won't post tomorrow other than a quickie at lunch if I can. Got a few things to do tomorrow night to get the house in order. Sleep tight, enjoy your travels tomorrow where ever they may take you.

Happy Birthday Linus - hope you had a good one. Miss you too. :hb:

Hollyhock 06-19-2007 08:28 AM

Meadow 06-19-2007 09:17 PM

Saw

Well the Rocky Mountaineer just zoomed by... 25 minutes earlier than I was expecting... I managed to run out to the edge of the yard with my yellow stuffed chick and wave it at them as they clacky, clacked onward... so Shad if you saw a fat chick in a red t-shirt waving something yellow that was me :D

Hey, I was poultry in motion:carrot:

I'm down with the Jumanji July ;) Stampeding rhinos and swamp things kind of appeal :lol3:

happy2bme 06-19-2007 11:25 PM

Yay--- Mom's coming tomorrow.   Going at lunch to pick her up at the airport. Then I have to go back to work - can't afford any more time off - so she will have to spend the afternoon chatting with DH. I can't wait to see her, I miss her so much.

I didn't get home from work until after 6 - keeping later hours with this job plus the longer commute. DH and I talked for a bit then decided we needed to run out and get a few things. Of course he was delighted to come with me  but I made him anyway

We didn't get home until after 8pm. I made him - no wait he made his own salad for dinner, I went to finish setting up Mom's "room" and cleaning the bath. Shuffle, shuffle, swish, wipe, tuck away. Came downstairs a little after 10pm - no supper for this chick :( Tis ok, I can skip a meal or 176 and not miss it. Had a bit of fresh cool pineapple just to take the edge off. :T Lots of stuff I didn't used to like - fresh strawberries, pineapple, salmon, turkey that I have forced myself to eat because they are healthy for you and now I like them.

Meadow - the idea of you in a red shirt waving a yellow stuffed chick gave me the giggles. What a cute visual! Hope she saw you.

Mel - there were doing demolitions around one of my office buildings once - I could not believe the noise. Kept jumping even after several days of loud bangs. Thought the place was falling apart. Poor birdie. How do you explain to a bird that he will be ok?

Sounds like you all are happy with Jumanji in July - sounds good to me. Someone else will have to decide what that means - I have spent all my energy on the Jumping for Joy in June and the Jumani joke. The rest was sucked out of my brain on the new job - which is going ok. I do feel like a dummy but I allowed myself to feel dopey for 30 days and that's not up yet. Haven't gotten into the pool yet either. Hopefully by Saturday. House should be in good shape so I should be able to help DH with the yardwork in the morning and spend the afternoon talking with Mom poolside.

Gosh look at the time. Gotta get up at 5 am. :tired: Better get off the computer and into bed.

'Night all... Sweet dreams.

Ruthxxx 06-20-2007 07:52 AM

You chickies are too funny! A red cow called Melody? Hollyhock and Robin share a birthday? Meadow as "poultry in motion"? The Doggage are looking at me because I'm laughing out loud.

I was supposed to go to the gym for 7:30 this morning but feel a bit sickish so will just have a mental gymnastics time until things settle down. I may have OD'd on fresh strawberries!

I do pet therapy noon to 2 PM with Hershey and have four Brits coming for tea and a village tour later this afternoon. I should learn to keep my big mouth shut and stop acting like Delta's one woman Tourist Bureau. These folks are from Nottingham and one of them is called Robin Sherwood. Can you believe it? It cracks me up.

Sunny and cooler finally! I just may get some gardening done when Donna comes to clean at 9. I'm going to try getting out of the house when she's here as I end up working along with her on things like windows!

Have a great Hump Day!

Note to Self: Find out what the heck this Jumani stuff is all about.

happy2bme 06-20-2007 07:55 AM

Oh great! Let's PUBLICIZE the fact that this cow was born so the crazies can all flock there, steal poor Melody and start the religious war to end all wars  What if I just sneak in and take her away so they don't sacrifice the poor thing 2 years from now? What a sad fate :(

The world is coming to an end soon anyway. People have become so selfish and only think about themselves. It started with a few and it is spreading like wildfire. I am almost ready to retire to the big sky, remote areas of the west like Nae.

I know that sounds like a depressing post but it isn't. Just tired of people who only think of themselves (driving and yakking on cellphones or worse texting, can't park between 2 lines and take up more than one parking spot, leave their shopping carts/buggies blocking parking spots or free to roam and dent cars because they are too LAZY to walk 20 feet to the cart corral. Oof-duh.

Ok, coffee's finished. Gotta run. Have a good day chicks.

And too funny about Melody the cow Mel. :lol3:

Ruthxxx 06-20-2007 08:07 AM

You know there is something to be said about living in a village as I do. People are NOT rude! Maybe it's because they all know each other? When I go to town I see a difference and when I go to the city, it's even worse. Sometimes I'm glad to be old so I won't have to observe the mess in 30 years! If I'm still around, I'll be close to 100 and probably won't give damn! Just give me my sherry and dry Depends. :)

Shad 06-20-2007 09:56 AM

Morning all,

Meadow I did see a chick in a red tee shirt yesterday. Didn't realise you were waving a chicken. I did wave back - I was wearing turquoise. Do apologise for not getting in touch last night but we didn't get in until 7.40 and had to be on a bus and taken to the show by 7.55. After 10 when we got in and back on a bus to go to the train in less than 20 minutes from now. Better get cracking. I will be in touch tomorrow from Van.

The train trip is very entertaining. We have a selection of people from Scots to Spanish and most in between on the carriage. Most interact fairly well. Scenery is fantastic. The car attendant is really amusing. I do like the Canadian sense of humour.

Better get cracking - brave the ice and snow again, but at least today is fine if windy. From Kamploops byeeeeeeeee.

Train whistle blowing,
Makes a sleepy noise
Etc Etc eTc

ceejay52 06-20-2007 12:17 PM

Laughter is good for the soul.

Sorry I've been poking my head in the door and just saying hello--I've been concerned about an uncle who had 6 by passes done (heart surgery) yesterday. He's doing as well as can be expected right now. He's 73.

Happy--Things should go better after the first thirty days. Are you still in computers. Enjoy the visit with your mom.

Mel- A red cow named Melody that predicts a religious war. hmmmm!

Miss Ruth--Is Robin Sherwood the real Robin Hood? Glad you are posting with us.

Meadow--I bet that was a sight for all the passengers on the train to see.

Shad--Your adventures have been delightful.

Carla, Holly, and the rest, hello

Thanks chicks for making my day a little brighter. I need to laugh.

Shad 06-20-2007 10:23 PM

I've finally made Vancouer and have internet access in my room for the princely sum of 12.99 fo 24 hours. It has one of them new fangled wireless keyboards and I am having a lot of trouble geting to grips with the scrolls and the sheer size of the screen. Even Mel could see this one from a great distance. Forgive the spelling. I'm on my knees with th keyboard on the coffee table. Seems tobe the only place it works from.

The train ride was great. If you ever get the chance you should do it. However, good as the bus drivers may be, I am not exactly a bus person and if thinking about doing it again, I would skip the bus part in favour of a hire car and I would skip the hotel in Banff altogether.

Carla - I will see you on the 25th. Not sure if I can go to the website yet, but I wil l check it out sometime tonight or tomorrow morning. Thanks for checking that out for me.

Mel - hope those eyes are coming right for you. It seem to be a never ending cycle. I will be in touch before I go home.

Happy - happy times with your Mum. Treasure the moments. And don't work too hard.

Ruth - back to taking tourists around the lakes and mills again. Robin Sherwood - well I never - there is such a person ?
Give those dogs a pat from me.

Okay - gotta go and get some food in me. The train overfed us, but it is now 7.30pm and I am feeling the strain. Tonight will be an early bed - daylight or not.

See ya

carla49 06-20-2007 11:08 PM

Well, it seems the Joy-eagle has landed in Vancouver. And the weather is suspiciously better all of a sudden - I swear Shad has an in with the weather gods. I agree with the opinion on bus travel. I hope at least it wasn't at jam-packed!
Shad - one thing I forgot to menion before - you should arrange to get to the airport fairly early on the 25th: we clear US customs in Van, and I have no idea how long it'll take.

Happy, by now your mother must be with you. I'm very envious of the love you feel for her. I sometimes wonder how my mother and I would have gotten along had she lived. Given my general prickliness, perhaps not perfectly, but I do enjoy the vicarious pleasure I get from hearing you talk of her with such warmth. Oh - I almost forgot: get in that pool!!!!

Ceejay, sorry to hear about your uncle. I had never heard of six bypasses at once - is it a record? Will you be heading off to visit him and the family soon?

Meadow, did the neighbours see your train-chasing performance? You'll be known throughout town as the crazy chicken lady...

Mel, there's no way you're fobbing the whole Jumanji thing off on me. The resposibility is all yours, although it's true I liked the idea of an imaginary place. Now if it were already November in Narnia, I could probably play tour guide, but since I haven't even see the whole movie yet... Good thing there's still time to prepare before the end of the month.
Have you tried tiny little ear plugs for the bird? :lol3: And for yourself? How long will construction be going on? For a while we were having work done on the east wall of my condo, and at least twice I walked into the bedroom nekkid and found young men at my window on the 14th floor... Probably harder on them than me.

Holly, since your bday is the same as Robin's, maybe you can do the tour guide thing in Jumanji? I'm sure he'll give you lots of inside info to share with us.

Today was only a half day at work, so I took advantage of the good weather for an adventure. Carla is now a Zip line wizard...! It was great fun, although I hated the bits involving walking on little suspended bridges. :fr: I loved the actual zooming along on a zipline. (Never would have considered doing it if I hadn't seen it on the Amazing Race and realized even "regular" people could do it.) If it's nice out tomorrow I may go and do the more advanced run after work. Anyone who wants to know what I'm talking about should check out ZipTrek on-line.

 to Ruth and Madcat. Too much fresh air, time to get in the nightie and zzzzzz.

happy2bme 06-20-2007 11:54 PM

Aw Carla - Mom's giving you a good night hug too  You're sweet.

Nighty night ladies.

Ruthxxx 06-21-2007 07:01 AM

 at all the Worldly Chicks. Lots of RL stuff to do today but I'll try to pop back in later. I'm spending too much time online. :( :nono:

happy2bme 06-21-2007 07:38 AM

Morning chicks,

Mom got in ok. She's kind of nervous flying and I was praying all week that she'd have a good flight. We were waiting at security and she came toddling down the aisle with the big giant look of surprise and she stopped and started waving when she saw us. She said she had such a NICE flight. (thank you God). The gate attendants in Chicago changed her seat from the cramped one in the back to one in the front with lots of leg room for her sore knees and she had the nicest seat partner. A young man who was a secret service man en route to some presidential appearance. She said the time just flew by. I was so relieved. I can see now how older people fixate and fret about things. So she's here now and unpacked. We had a nice dinner. Chatted for a while and all too soon it was time to go to bed. This getting up at 5am is crazy. Don't know how you early risers do it. :faint:  :tired:

Carla - I do plan on getting in the pool this weekend. That is so cool about doing the zip line. So speeding along on the line didn't bother you but walking across the rickety bridge did? Not sure I could do either so you have my admiration for your adventurous spirit. Rock on!

Shad - glad the train trip was worth it. Sounded like it was beautiful. Enjoy Vancouver and I am so hoping you'll love the Butchart Gardens. Can't wait to hear what you think of Victoria.

Ceejay - healing prayers for your uncle  How's the Best Life diet coming along? I just picked up the You on a Diet book but probably won't get to it for a few weeks.

Ruth - I like your attitude. Good to know there are places where it's not completely crazy yet.

Good morning Mel. Did you get some rest? Hope that demolition goes fast. They should just blow up the place - get it done in one swoop. Hope you and Mr. Birdy have a peaceful day.

Time to pop into the shower. I did promise the person training me that I WOULD make a better effort to get into the office early today.

Have a good day friends.

happy2bme 06-21-2007 07:44 AM

ceejay52 06-21-2007 06:56 PM

Ruth- Have a good time showing the gents around town

Mel--Don't know how you can stand the bump and bangs for this long. When they were tearing down the building opposite me I jumped up to check on things. Carla may be right in getting ear plugs. Yes this uncle lives in Paragould also and is brother to the uncle I visit. The youngest of 6. They are my mom's brother's.

Shad--I have wanted to do the train ride. Maybe when I retire.

Happy-Enjoy the visit with your mom. I've just started the Best Life. Bob Greene and I are on the same page at least. We have the same goals. My problem as always will be staying with in the calorie limit, even when I follow a plan I always want more. I'm determined to do this. I don't want the doctors to find my arteries clogged.

Carla-I'd never heard of 6 by passes either, it's always been 4 or 5. I'm n ot sure if it's a record. I'm just glad they found it in time.

Speaking of my uncle, he was already sitting up in a chair today when the uncle I go visit went to visit with him. I was doing a happy dance. Thanks for your positive thought and prayers. He may be coming home on Saturday.

I had so much energy after my uncle called me I had to go to the gym and work it off. I need to fix dinner and eat a proper meal cause my hands are finding all the loose food and stuffing it into my mouth.

MELODY525 06-22-2007 07:50 AM

ONLY ONE POST?? DID I SCARE EVERYONE OFF?? JUST AS WELL CAUSE I AM IN A RUSH. WILLY HAS TALKED ME INTO TAKING A RIDE TO THE FOOD STORE JUST TO GET OUT. HAVE A GREAT DAY.
HAPPY FRIDAY....THE WEEKEND!!!! :moped:

CEEJAY~ GREAT NEWS ABOUT THE UNCLE. I AM GLAD YOU ARE ALL RELIEVED. NICE WORKOUT TOO!!!
HAVE A GREAT DAY!:sunny:

happy2bme 06-22-2007 08:03 AM

Good morning ladies,

Geez did every one head off with Shad to Victoria? :mag: Quick post for me too - the sooner I get to work, the sooner I can leave. And it's Friday - YAY. Going to be a hot one - 95 degrees. Into the pool for sure this weekend.

Have a good shopping trip Mel - get some stuff for me as my cupboards are bare too. Well maybe not exactly but I don't wanna eat what's in them  I asked Mom if she was having sugar withdrawals. She said she was looking around the kitchen but got over her cravings. She's a real sugar junkie. Scrutinizes all fat and salt contents but ignores the sugar labels :s:

Other than that, happy Friday. Glad to hear your uncle is on the mend Ceejay.

Here's to a nice weekend chicks  I'm outta here...

Ruthxxx 06-22-2007 08:14 AM

Great news on the Unc, Ceejay. Happy, try to keep your cool - we are actually cool here after two terrible T-storms. MEL, I don't know how you stand the constant noise! My kitchen tear-apart drove me nuts!

Today will be mostly taken up with working a Bingo for the Fair Board. Please don't tell me to have fun! It is never fun, just something that I have to do. I am thinking very hard about something fun to do this weekend as an antidote - maybe go fishing? There will be traffic jams on our lakes next weekend when the bass season opens!

The only thing going on around here this weekend is a 95th birthday party and a Cemetery Memorial service! Actually this will be the last quiet weekend around here before the hordes of folks descend on the village for Canada Day/ July 4 and a huge music festival at a farm just outside town. As a Director of their board, I'll have to attend the opening of the Festival but will probably listen to most of it from the back deck. It's the Kutter Farms Foundation which raises money for special needs kids so they can have swimming lessons and ride horses. My friend Caron is spearheading this. She also will be the owner of the pool which is still WIP and plans to have water aerobic classes when it's finally finished. I'm first on that list!

OK - I'm going to get ready for the gym and just do it! :tread: I always feel better afterwards and it will set me up for the frassin' Bingo!

What are you doing today and this weekend for FUN? I need ideas! Giving myself a manicure just won't cut it!

Meadow 06-22-2007 10:47 AM

:carrot: First day of summer was fabulous! Perfect heat and a nice breeze. My youngest had her sports day and we wander around the fields watching her do potato sack racing, skipping, throwing the ball etc. She had a blast! They gave them free freezies as one of the events :p I put sunscreen on but managed to get a slight sunburn where my t-shirt sleeve :dunno: Doesn't the smell of coppertone make you smile? :D

Mel-Have fun out and about. Buy some mango and think of Shad ;) Don't forget the strawberries. I'm glad you are getting some nice weather. Been out to tour the squirrel warrens lately?

Shad-Enjoy the flowers and the walk around Buchart Gardens. I was just sighing to my husband saying we haven't been there since our honeymoon :sigh: Were you on the second to last car on the train waving? I'm afraid I was in a chicken frenzy trying to be seen

Happy-in the pool!:swim: My husband says he will not put ours up till July when he can be assured the weather will stay warm, totally messing with the kids' heads:^: Be sure to wear your sunblock, 95 degrees is frying temps! Give your mom her own parasol and pineapple drink.

Ruth-endure the Bingo and sneek in the fishing trip between the derby goers infesting the lakes. The big concert sounds cool. Is it on July first then, for Canada Day? or on July fourth for the US independence day? or on July second or third to split the difference?

Ceejay-keep your hands away from the stuffies :p great news that your uncle is feeling better and that you have a bit less worry.

Carla-the park where we used to live had a small zip line, it was fun! Great that you are exploring more options on your adventures. You will be tight rope walking before you know it.

I've got to get the kids ready for school. Have a terrific weekend chicks  Summer is here!:flow2:

Shad 06-22-2007 11:02 AM

Quickie from me this morning - only 18 minutes left on the clock.

Meadow - I'm cheap, I was in the red leaf about second carriage from the front. Were you wearing black pants along with the red tee and do you have dark hair?

Mel - enjoy the shopping and then go to the park and watch the world go by. Chat up the blokes in the park - why not?

Happy - to Mum. Hello Mum! Enjoy your stay. Keep cool in the pool!!!

Ruth - it's all go in Delta now is it not? Glad I arrived before the hordes. Such a cute place.

Yesterday I toured Vancouver - well as much as I could do on foot and bus. I didn't want an organised tour. I've done enough of them. So I had to get myself about and find my way here and there and everywhere. Went up Grouse Mountain - it was foggy but cleared later to a fine and sunny day. Then went to a Chinese Garden and wandered around the Vancouver Chinatown. Found an area of town I don't think I should have been in. Radar was working overtime but made it out of there at great speed. Then I went up the Vancouver Tower and checked out the city - better than Grouse Mtn. At least I could see.
Today I am off to Victoria and will be in the gardens this afternoon or maybe tomorrow morning - I must do some laundry at some time as well. Then I thought I might do a whale watching cruise. So - my bus in due shortly and I have to go down the street to the next hotel because there is no room here for one to park.

Next time we talk it will be from Victoria. Then back to Vancouver and San Francisco. My holiday is nearly over.

Ruthxxx 06-22-2007 04:53 PM

Yes, Shad, there are parts of Vancouver Chinatown where you should not go. :yikes: I always make sure my car doors are locked when I drive through and would never be afoot without an escort.

I survived the BINGO and am now dealing with a crisis that is making me very angry! I got a panic phone message from Caron who is managing the music festival to say someone wanted refunds for 90 tickets since they had heard the Festival was cancelled. Somebody called the booking agent and said the whole deal was down the tube! Of course it's not! I am pretty damned sure who did the evil phone call and may be able to confirm the name out of the booking agent who is also the agent I use to book for the Fair! If it's whom I suspect, I'll have his balls for bookends. People seldom live after suffering the Wrath of Ruth!

So....how was your day?

Hollyhock 06-22-2007 08:40 PM

I got sidetracked this morning it would seem, wrote this then....
I slept in a bit. Need to get my hair washed and kids ready. Pizza day- so no lunches to pack.Last pizza day of the year.

DD has the daughter of my after school sitter coming here to sleep over.

I have been having good days at the shop. Most of the clients I am doing are repeat clients and then yesterday I did a new woman ( walk in) for highlights who was soooooo nice. It was a good convo. I love that.

Non stop busy with the kids and life it seems. Went on a field trip with DS’s class on Wed to the Fanshawe Pioneer village and then Rock Glen. He was thrilled. Had to work after that til 8 :30pm.
Allergies have been terrible. I am glad it is not so hot tho. Back down to 22 C today. Yippee.
Lots of other “life” things to deal with.
I have my friend’s daughter babysitting the kids here when I am working at the shop all summer. She is a sweety. 15 years old. Thrilled to be earning income.

I can just putter at housework tonight. BIG day tomorrow. Soccer tournament at 9 am. Family reunion, in Sarnia, at 2- whenever and then a Bday for a friend here in the hamlet who is turning 50. Wondering if DH wants to go. She is my friend from school council.
We laughed about him being almost 50 as well after he bugged me about my friends being 50. His brother turns 50 in August. DH will be 47. How the heck does that happen??? It sounds so grown up. Suppose on would need to grow up to be one. LOL!

Almost time for the bus and work.

6pm-ish-So all of the above transpired and everyone is happy.

Need to tidy the kitchen and then turn 2.5 doz eggs into deviled eggs for the family reunion tomorrow.

8:39 pm- hubby's parents showed up with a trailer full of wood for us for the winter. Had a nice visit. Just boiling my eggs now.
Sunday hubby and the kids( I think) are goig up to the farm to split more wood.

gonna check on the eggs.

HUGS!!!!!

happy2bme 06-23-2007 01:13 PM

Good morning eastern sister  I see your little egg a lit. Thanks for the recipe. Sounds yummy, I will have to try it but not when it is 97 degrees out like now.

I have to get to the store and get some clean food for mom to eat. We had some battered fish this week (a favorite of hers) and yesterday had some take out Chinese (another favorite). We are very close to the border of too much salt - don't want her getting all bloated here :sumo: So I will be studying the weather charts :comp: and trying to figure out a meal plan for the week :write: I look at the weather forecast because my prefered meals are to grill a meat and serve it with some veggies as well as fresh fruit. Have to be prepared for alternatives on those rain days.

Oops - started this post 4 hours ago. DH came into the room, I turned around to talk to him and forgot about this. Now I'm almost out the door to take Mom to the library and then stop and get some groceries. DH is shooing us out the door as he needs to shut off the water to repair the toilet. So gotta run. Sorry I can't post individually. Happy Saturday all!

Shad 06-23-2007 08:17 PM

I'm in heaven,
I've been to the Butchart Gardens and the Butterfly House. Yes there is one here just about 2k from the gardens and they are really lovely. Have some huge butterflies - blue morphos and owls eyes (can't remember the real name) and some green jays which almost look like they are checkered. Stripey ones, orange ones, spotted ones, banded ones. You name it.

Butchart - well what does one say. Wish I could have stayed tonight to watch the lights and fireworks however the buses don't run afterwards and taxis are few and far between out there. There were some wonderful things in the gift shop. I could have run amok but I can look on the net later I guess and have them sent out.

When Happy wants to take the DH for a 2nd or 27th honeymoon, she can come here. The Hotel (Executive suites) is good. Free laundry, free internet, free workout equipment, free steam room and spa pool. Rooms are quite nice and you can cook in there if you want as well (I don't). So Victoria Harbour is lovely too. It took forever to get down here on the bus and ferry from Vancouver, so I have scrapped the return journey and booked a seat on a seaplane - 35 minutes instead of 6 hours. Should be an interesting journey too.

After today, only 5 days days to go on my holiday (and 900 odd photos on my camera) It has gone so fast. Ahh well that's life, I guess.

Had to buy another suitcase today - they are expensive in Victoria too. The big purple case is coming apart at the seams. The side handle is nearly off and I am already overweight so a small cabin bag has been bought to take the overflow. Not that it is going in the cabin on the flight home - it will have all the shopping in it for customs purposes. That generally stops them from going through all my washing and stuff.

So it's nearly dinner time and I am getting hungry. Lots of walking today (necessary after a big breakfast - but little lunch) and lots of fresh air and sunshine (still got the good weather going for me).
I've chatted for a short time with Meadow today - think I have got to all of you now. Just one more jaunt with Carla and I'm done.

Someone is waiting for the computer. See you

Meadow 06-23-2007 11:17 PM

Hmm, the site is really being odd tonight... won't allow me into advanced... has frozen twice and lost my message :p So trying one more time before bed :)

Shad-talking to you was just like catching up with one of my relatives :D Did you get a chance to ride on the trolley with the horses around town? I bet the harbour plane trip will be an even better visual adventure... you know it lands in the harbour in Vancouver, right beside Stanley park, so you will have a great view of the city coming in to land. Enjoy!

Mel-the stew sounded very yummy, I liked the spice combo. Especially the dry mustard. I'm sorry your eyes are still being bothersome :goodvibes: Cold compresses and minimum on the eye strain. Be well.

Ruth-what is with the bookends? This nasty fellow probably has tiny ones you could make into earrings as a warning to others! Kick butt! So sorry this has endangered the event, fingers crossed for a good outcome.

Happy-Lots of peppers grilled on the barbecue ;) Clean eats and delicious. What book did your mom get out of the library? Does she like Sue Grafton? I'm reading "S" is for silence right now, very good detective mystery, well written and a fast read.

Holly-You sound busy and happy. Have a wonderful time at the party. I'm sure your kids will have a blast with the teenager over the summer. Peaceful days and lots of sunshine.

 I'm going to try and post now

MELODY525 06-24-2007 07:22 AM

I HAD A SAD NIGHT YESTERDAY. GOT A CALL FROM A TENANT SAYING THERE WAS A NEWSPAPER STILL OUTSIDE HER NEIGHBOR'S DOOR. A FRIEND OF MINE, KARL, HAD PASSED AWAY. BY THE LOOKS OF IT HE DIED THE NIGHT BEFORE. AFTER MUCH ARGUING AND ALMOST 5 HOURS LATER, HE WAS FINALLY RELEASED BY THE MEDICAL EXAMINER'S CREW AND THE FUNERAL MEN WERE ABLE TO MDO THEIR JOB. FIRST HIS SISTER DIDN'T WANT ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT AND THEN AFTER THE COUNTY M.E. CALLED HER SHE SAID "LEAVE THE BODY THERE AND I'LL COME DOWN AND TAKE IT OUT TOMORROW!!" :faint: :yikes: :nono: :tantrum: SHE DIDN'T WANT THE ADDED CHARGES :faint: THEY DON'T WANT THE BODIES BUT THEY WANT THE CASH IN THE BANK. YOU CAN IMAGINE THE LANGUAGE THAT WAS BEING USED BY ALL OF US AT THIS POINT. POOR OLD KARL. I AM GLAD IT WAS ME THAT FOUND HIM. HE DESERVED SOME DIGNITY.
FEELING A WEE BIT FRAGILE THIS MORNING SO I THINK IT WILL BE A MELIDAY TODAY. I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THE RESPONSES I GOT FROM THE OFFICE....GEE SO SORRY TO SPOIL YOUR WEEKEND MY QUEENS! :queen:
I WON'T EVEN GO THERE. MAYBE A SHORT RIDE IS IN ORDER ALSO. JUST REMEMBERED MEADOW ASKING ABOUT THE SQUIRRELS.....GOTTA GO AND SEE IF THEY STILL LIVE BY THE RESERVOIR TOO. I FORGOT. BTW...SHAD THE MEN IN THE PARK DON'T SPEAK TE QUEEN'S ENGLISH!  I HAVE TRIED TO CHAT TO PEOPLE THERE....NO COMPRENDE!!
