Just checked in. Glad the group is still around. Thanks for letting me crash the party! The only dip I've brought is ME. \
If anybody has a yoga tape that is good, I'd be interested in knowing about it. I can barely walk, but would be willing to stretch and sweat. My meds are MOST annoying! |
THE FILTHIEST OF ELECTIOS IS OVER AND WE WON!!!
I AM A HAPPY CAMPER AND TIRED!! SINUS!! TOO MUCH PERFUME!! AFTERSHAVE AND BAD AIR IN GENERAL. COOL AND RAINY BUT EXPECTED TO CLEAR FOR SHAD'S VISIT. I READ THE POSTS. TOO WEARY TO COMMENT EXCEPT TO SAY GLAD ALL IS BASICALLY WELL. SHAD...OK ON THE CAB. JEN WAS JUST WANTING TO PICK YOU UP BUT IT'S NOT WORKING OUT. WAS GOING TO BE A LAST MINUTE SURPRISE. LOL I WILL BE WAITING IN THE LOBBY!!!! :carrot:  SEE Y'ALL THEN!! OFF TO REST UP FOR MY SURPRISE (LOL) VISITOR! DON'T WANT HER SMASHING HEADS LIKE RIPENED PUMPKINS WHEN SHE ARRIVES!! I WISH WE ALL COULD HAVE MET IN TO!! SHAD COULD HAVE BEEN THE ENGINE THAT WENT FROM STATION TO STATION PICKING UP CARS TILL WE ALL MET IN THE TO STATION  OK GOTTA GO AND REST. HAPPY WEDNESDAY! :moped: |
My, aren't we a quiet bunch this morning!!
Mel made it in, despite the frantic last-minute dusting and scrubbing on her pre-Joy agenda. Meadow is probably filling sandbags to keep the local river out of her basement. Shad and Happy got separated and are still hopelessly wandering in those caves, Shad accosting puzzled strangers, and asking "Wheer's Hippy? :D (Just practicing the accent...). Ruth has been called to a disciplinary hearing by her fellow Mods to explain rumours of a threatened defection to the Worldly Chicks. What's the news about Hershey? Holly is looking in despair at what last night's cold weather did to her flowerbeds... Ceejay is at work recovering from her very fast 20 min on the treadmill. Madcat is planning a very full few days showing Shad the real Toronto. Painter, seeing the sudden slump in posting, decided to make an emergency visit to try to wake us up. And Carla (that would be me) just stopped in to say hi and keep us on the first page. |
Wow. It is quiet. Summer is arriven. 90 degrees, no more threats OR promises of thunderstorms. Many clients have sore throats. I am in less pain than yesterday or Monday, but still am full of unshed tears. Just sad. Glad you are still around. I'll add good news when I have any!!
|
Painterwoman--Glad to see you back.
Mel--Glad that you don't have to work the elections for a while. Carla, Madcat, holly hello Happy and Shad is enjoying their trip to the cave. Wonder if they got cold. More later. |
We're back
Ceejay - how could it be could when the temps are in the late 80's. The caves were a very pleasant 58 but didn't feel that cool. We had a lovely time. Happy and I listened to the Folk Music last night and laughed at the sights and sounds. Hey there was one bloke there with a big hat (if Carla has her way it will be a bug hut) and man was it lucky he had ears. If not, the hat would have come all the way down to his mouth or further. Few could understand me, but that's okay - I had trouble with them as well. I mean - howd ya laike yer aigs? Cooked says I. Ah maein porched, friiiiiiied, ova asy or scrambulled? Happy did say they didn't have much of a sense of humour. One of our waitresses last night had a boyfriend who was currently in Mel's favourite town - Toowoomba and was staying in Brisbane. Deed I knaw Scott Lloyd in Brisbaaaaane. Only 4 million folk in Brisbane and I don't know them all. Painter - Nice to see you back again. Sorry to hear you are having trouble moving around. I have a yoga tape at home - not much good to you there, but I bought it at the local supermarket where they were having a Staying Healthy promotion. Try some of the standing yogas, I find the sitting ones quite often difficult and painful and they hang there for so long. Mel - I'll see you on Thursday dinnertime or there abouts. We'll talk them. Holly - catch up with you on Monday. Looking forward to the Toronto segment now. Ruth - I hope Hershey is okay. Let's just hope for the cake. Suggest you dispose of the peony and just bring the dog. We will talk before then tho' Gotta go, let Happy have a go. |
I worked 12-8, came home and did homework with the kids, ran for a few groceries. DS is still up to watch the Stanley Cup.
Sens lost    Just placed my Avon order. Now i can relax for 12 min. Tomorrow looks like this- launch kids, go to payroll 9-3, plant some planters with the kids( they each have thier own" garden"), go to the school for the Fun Fair, run a game for the first hour, whiz across the road at 7pm so DS can play soccer, home by 8:30. He also swims with his class in the aft. Fri- Need have the kids up for 6:30am for DD's field trip, DS goes to the sitter before and after. Sat- town wide yard sale, hoping to make some big bucks, DD has soccer. Our big news today so that we were approved for the new line of credit without having our home appraised. Just need to go sign papers on Tues night. Whew! A relief. Monumental debt but at least we could secure it. No liens against our property. sigh My boss agreed I could increase my hours at the shop in Sept to 35/week. Okey dokey that's me in a nutshell....or nuthouse. |

Hey Mel, that dinner sounds sooooo good! And to think you were worried about what to feed your "air mail parcel"! Sounds like that charm of yours has led to a pretty yummy personal catering service. You must be so excited about the visit. Enjoy!
Oops. Gotta go, back later or tomorrow. to all. |
Shad--The only answer to your question is that some caves are under ground. Hope you enjoyed it.
Mel--Sinuses are better but they are still congested. Holly--You are still a busy lady. It's good that you can get more hours at you job. PainterWoman--Hope you feel better soon. We all have a need to shed tears. Don't hold them back. My doc says it's not good for us. To all the rest hello I've been to the dentist today for the crown. I've slept most of the afternoon. Made an appointment to get a cleaning done and then I'll probably have a couple of more things done. My teeth should be in good shape after this. Good night. I'm still sleepy. |
Hi nice 3FCers. Sorry, I've been AWOL for a couple for days with a stomach issue which we won't talk about since it is still close to breakfast for most of us  Lovely day out today so far though it supposed to climb to over 30 and be humid. Things are looking good though for the arrival of the Airmail Package from New Jersey though. Supposed to be nice and sunny and high 20s for all the time she is here. At least she shouldn’t have to deal with Toronto the Humid.
Ceejay~ Glad you see an end to all the dental work. Mel~ How nice that you have friends willing to share the food wealth. I hope you guys have a really great time this weekend. You wouldn’t want her with zippered lips. Thanks for the warm thoughts. Things are getting sorted out and that helps a lot. It’s uncertainty that is so hard to take. Oh and congrats on the election outcome!!! Holly~ What good news on the Line of Credit. I know how worrying money matters can be. It must be a relief to have that sorted. I’ll give you a call over the weekend to sort out the logistics for Monday. Shad~ have fun in Joisey. Now that’s an accent of a whole different colour. It will be interesting to see what you make of Canuck speak, eh, though you won’t hear as much of it here in the city. Painter~ It is so good to see you here. I’ve tried the Brandon Yee yoga series and find them really challenging. It might not be quite what you are looking for. I’m with Ceejay – a good cry can help. Holding it in puts a big knot right between your shoulder blades. That’s not good. If all else fails watch sappy movies and give yourself permission to sob uncontrollably. It could help. Whoever said “crying solves nothing” was an obviously an idiot. Heck, even just saying to someone, even if it’s just a pet, “I am sad” can really help. Carla~ Howdy! Love your summery of activities. Geez I didn’t even think about Meadow and the flooding. Hope she’s in a safe area. And actually I was just moping around feeling sorry for myself. Ok, I have to run off. They do pay me to be here and I better get to it. There are user manuals to write! |
Good morning chicks,
... and now we return you to your regularly scheduled programming :D Got Shad on a plane on her way to Mel's via a short stop in North Carolina. Hope you got there safe and sound - probably up all evening chatting away :gossip: The days went by all too quickly but we had a lovely visit. Wish we could all get together somehow. She arrived with a dried up nose, I sent her off with the traditional Memphis sneezing from all the southern schmutz we have here. No telling how she will leave Jersey. :) Sorry for my lack of posting but generally by the time the end of the day came and I was able to use the computer, I was too tired to do much other than peek in. I was also sandwiched between two early morning risers so I had to put my night owl habits aside for a week ;) Carla, I love the new themed avatar. Congrats on getting that scale to move downwards. Have a good time when we pass the Shadster along to you :D Madcat - interesting thing with the humidity. It was getting warm and humid right before Shad's arrival. Then it lowered a bit but just enough in the air to rest her poor nose which was totally dried out from the desert air. We drop her off at the airport and just as her plane is taking off, the sauna rolls back in again. It's feeling very tropical here this early morning. So perhaps she will bring the lovely weather with her. Sorry to hear you have been rumbly and tumbly. Hope the tummy bug clears up quickly. Eat extra portions of yogurt to bring things in balance. Ceejay - enjoy that new tooth. I'm sure it cost a bundle. I find the prep work and the temporary crown much more dreadful than the finished product. Hope you're feeling better. Warm compresses to the face help ease the soreness. Holly - glad to hear that your loan came through even tho you'd rather be spending that kind of money on something else. So much for the quiet peacefulness of the hamlet life. :( Ruth, sorry to hear the puppies are sick. Hope the kitchen is back together to your satisfaction. I think you, a floppy hat, 2 doggies and a peony would be quite recognizable. Shad - you will take a picture, won't you? Painter - glad that you finally popped back in. You disappear for too long :nono: Sorry to hear you are sad. Here's a feel good hug  Hellos to Meadow and Nae  And that leaves Miss Mel. Hope your "sister" has found her way to your doorstop and that you two don't tear apart the town. How nice of your neighbor to share dinner with you. The shrimp and rice sounds quite nice. I do hope that everyone will leave you alone and that you can fully enjoy the few days you will have together. Enjoy the "Elvis sing along" too - won't you? I want pictures   After we dropped Shad off we headed down to the garden center. DH was trying his best to control me - he was fretting constantly about the amount of money things were costing and that we should start slow and add a bit here and there as needed. I on the other hand, wanted a cartful of stuff to finish the rest of the plantings. He was right to fret as I could have easily spent $300 without even trying. We are trying to ease into more perennials so that we don't have to keep shelling out a ton of money each spring. I decided to do a small patio garden by the pool. Got one patio plant with tomatoes that went into the big pot. Another smaller pot holds the dill and parsley. One sweet basil plant in a small pot rounds it out. We got some flowers for the hanging baskets by the pool. I think they are a variation of snapdragons. Some coleus for the front yard. There is no more hosta to be purchased - the garden centers are getting pretty sparse by this time - so I'll just have to split out some of the ones in the front to round out the circle under the tree. I have 3 small pots yet to fill and one very large tub by the pool. I would like to get a climbing mandevilla again but DH is not keen on the idea. Probably because they cost $40 and only last one season - you think? I'm debating about taking a lazy day today to finish off my vacation. Would like to get a pedicure and wash the dirty cars. I need to make meal plans and do grocery shopping for the upcoming week but that can wait until tomorrow. So can the laundry. I just looked over and realized that the filing cabinet next to the computer is stacked with papers I was supposed to put away BEFORE Shad's arrival. Sorry about that. I am a "pile" person - probably my worst habit. So, let's get on with the day before it's noon and I'm still sitting here. Have fun Shad and Mel - leave the poor fireman alone  The rest of you have a good Friday. |
Morning all,
C'est moi, not Mel. Uneventful flight from Memphis to Newark via Charlotte. Then ran into a Taxi Driver from New Jersey. Well ummm. Not only did he have an accent thicker than mine, but I don't think he had much idea of where he was or was going and he weaved in and out of traffic like it wasn't even there. Didn't know the address and got annoyed when I didn't either. Then got further annoyed when I pointed out that he was the cabbie and I was the tourist. How the **** was I supposed to know where I was. He told me to calm down, I told him to straighten out and we both regressed into foreign languages to swear at each other with impunity. Welcome to New Jersey. Apparently they were having bets on what time I would arrive and what it would cost. They all lost out. We haven't yet eaten the shrimp and stuff and more arrived this morning. How much do they think we can eat, but it is nice of her. We just yakked last night and didn't get to bed until after midnight. This morning my sinus headache and the sneezing has returned. Still I'll take care of that in a minute. So in a few minutes we are off for a walk to check out the neighbourhood and see what gives out there. Maybe a few birds delivered to the local cabbies as well. Forgive me for not answering each post. I just don't have the time at the moment. We'll be back Mel says hi to all.   |
Shad--glad you made it to Jersey. This is not a good year for sinuses at all.
It's dark outside right now. From the looks of the weather map we are in for some much needed rain. Pay check was delivered early this morning but still have been to the bank. |
